228- the B is for Blog.
Ah, hello! Where may the menu be found?
229- Here you are. I’ve never been much of a fan of cherry pie, myself.
Ah, a new volume of the H&H. Simply marvelous! We’ve had quite a few visitors lately. How is everyone? How is life going? Any excitement?
My apologies for the double post.
2- It can be found here. It appears that not all of the pictures have yet been added to this thread. For starters, can I get you a pot of tea? Chai? Cocoa? Cappuccino?
3- Thank you very much.
*sips tea*
Hooray! A new thread!
May I have a cup of Fresh Peppermint tea, please? Thank you.
Are suggestions for additions to the menu still accepted? I haven’t been here in a while.
Ah hello. I have never visited this thread before. All I know of it is that it has a pleasant atmosphere and that you play a peculiar card game. Well, I think I’ll grab one of the good armchairs by the fire and settle down with a good book and a mug of cocoa.
I’ll have some scones with butter and jam please. Thank you very much waiter. Here’s a nice tip.
I am going to be 20 tomorrow. This is rather scary.
I would love a wung button and some tea, please.
Best birthday wishes, groundhog!
Why hello! What a lovely thread this is. I would like to have some Earl Grey tea and a cream cheese and chives sandwich, please.
6- Oh, the menu’s more suggestions than actual food. We serve here far more than could be put on a menu. Here’s your tea!
7- Unfortunately, Paker has moved to the Student Lounge. Much less formal, but not nearly as many visitors.
8- Freshly made this morning. I don’t take tips; this is a labour of love for me. Happy early birthday, by the way! Will there be any more governmental-granted privileges coming your way?
9- What kind of tea would you like? I assume you’re not much of a tea drinker, so I’ll bring you some nice Japanese green tea. Milk or sugar?
10- Classic tea choice. The sandwiches are finger sandwiches, i.e. bite-sized, so I’ll bring you a plate of them. And possibly a plate for myself as well…
11–I though I remembered that (I haven’t visited in ages, you see). I would like to suggest that we add popovers, then. They are absolutely delicious.
*Takes a sip of tea*
Ah, this tea is just what I need! (I have bronchitis). Yummy.
8–Happy birthday! That’s not too scary. I think it’s kind of cool, actually.
Oh how lovely! *eats croissant*
Good afternoon, everyone. I wonder, is there a typewriter around here? That just strikes me as a useful device.
hmm. China White, I think would be good today. And a scone with cloudberry jam. thank you.
11 – Not that I know of. The drinking age is 21, but I don’t particularly care about that, given that I hate anything alcoholic. Although I might be up for a real driver’s license by now, instead of the “provisional” one that I was issued a couple years ago.
Could I have chai tea and a scone with jam?
8: *implodes* WHAT?!?! *pies with OLDOLDYOU’REOLD pies*
That aside, I’d like my usual of yunan tea and a croissant, please.
I’ve sworn never to drink any alcoholic beverages after watching my uncle get drunk and start singing. My aunt, however, says that she swore the same thing when she was my age. I’d like an American Cakey Thing (I’ve actually grown rather fond of those), but with no berries or other adulterations, if possible a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich with capers, and some Chai tea with condensed millk. Thank you.
8- Happy birthday!
Who are you, Orophin?
14- I believe the Wungs could fetch you one, if you so desire.
15- Here you are.
16- What fun is a birthday if you can’t do anything new (legally) on it? I’ll be turning 15 in April, and that means learner’s permit. That is, if I can find a car with automatic transmission on which to learn.
17- Sounds wonderful. Here’s the scone, and I’ll have that Chai out to you in just a mo’.
18- Your order, as ordered.
19- One ACT coming right up, and a small plate of sandwiches. I’m making some Chai for SBF, so I’ll make some for you as well. Good Chai takes time, you see.
Ahhh… I just love visitors.
21- Well, I’ve been lurking around here for quite some time, but I rarely post so they haven’t bothered to put me on the Who’s Here.
I’m not on the Who’s Here either, so you’re not alone.
(23, 24) Both of you are there now.
8- YOu aren’t college age or up on who’s here. Oh, a few bowls of Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia
26- Brand-name ice cream? Didn’t you see the pedal-powered churn by the door?
27- We have an ice cream maker? *Runs to use it* Get me some chocolate sauce!
28- Just a second, let me recalibrate the confection discharge… OK, here you go.
Do we have any Greek yogurt? The kind that you mix with jam or honey?
30- We have everything, Ms. Yves. Fresh yiaourti coming right up!
Um… Everything? ‘Cause this is just a tea room
32- Well, we don’t have everything. That would be impossible. However, we are able to obtain anything you could possibly imagine. Can I get you anything?
33- Well, yes, that’s what I meant. We are in the Oasis, after all.
31- Yum! *Squirts honey into yogurt and mixes*
Bonjour! *eats cheese*
Good morning, everyone. *sips tea* How are you all? I’m going to make myself a full English breakfast. Does anyone else want one as well?
Today’s xkcd comic (or number 540) is rather amusing. Somewhat inappropriate, so I’ll not post a delinkified URL, but amusing nonetheless. Now for some eggs Benedict.
I would likes omething with caffiene, please. I’ve been feeling rather lathargic lately.
38- If you say so. Do you have anything in particular in mind? Hot? Cold?
While you are serving him/her, I’d like a Irish Cream Steamer.
37- I completely agree. And today’s (541) is also great.
40- Here you are. Enjoy!
Gah! Sorry about the AE. Is that how I was guessed? Ah, well. Life goes on, as they say.
40- You could use “en” instead of “him/her”.
*wanders in*
I think I am going to take up residence in this armchair by the fire for the next five days. Having a long break from school like this is very nice, but it means I have to spend that much more time at home with my family. *sigh*
I think I’ll have a pot of chrysanthemum tea and a plateful of mixed sandwiches, if no one minds. I brought a book to read here as well… Good Omens by Terry Pratchett/Neil Gaiman. I of course recommend it to everyone.
44- Here is your order. I love that book. Have you read it before? And how is it that everyone is off from school for four or five days? I’m not saying it’s a bad thing; I’m quite enjoying the relaxation, but why now? Why everyone?
I sip my usual pomegranate green tea and pick out an especially delicious-looking scone. “Perhaps you could read aloud for us, Jadestone?” I say after swallowing the first bite of scone.
*nibbles American Cakey Thing*
I’ve brought a book too….
“The Shaping Of Middle Earth” by Tolkein
44- Have you read “A Hat Full Of Sky” by Terry Pratchet?
At least, I think it’s by Terry Pratchet.
There’s another book in that series too.
I’m not sure what, but it concerns small blue people.
Could I have some yellow squash curry over rice, and some soy milk? I’ve finished my ACT and Chai.
46- Hm. I’ll have to see if we have any squash. Yep, we do. Wungs, get on that, please. I’ll have that right out to you, Orophin. Here’s your milk.
*strides in*
Ah. I haven’t been here in quite a while. May I have a crumpet, please?
Whatever happened to the picture depicting the interior of this lovely tearoom?
(48) I’m not sure how it got lost, but the interior is back. Thanks for mentioning it.
49-Hurrah!
48- Here you are. A pot of tea to go with it, perhaps?
51-Ah. Thank you. And no thank you (about the tea). I am currently in a thou moust not drink ANYTHING stage. Don’t ask.
*chews contemplatively*
*you didn’t really need to know that*
*and I did not have to put asterisks around this sentence or the previous one*
*or this one*
Well, your name does have psycho in it. I would like a brownie please.
53- Nuts or none? I don’t understand why some people dislike walnuts in their brownies, pumpkin bread, etc. What’s your opinion?
I think nuts are okay but… not for brownies.
55- All right then. Here you are!
I’d like a brownie as well; no nuts, please, I’m allergic.
I am currently sitting on the lampshade. Where is everyone else located?
I’ll have a brownie with nuts.
57- Here you are. I always make sure the Wungs keep the nut-containing food well away from the non-nut-containing food, so there’s no chance of cross-contamination. Enjoy!
59- An excellent choice. Do you want your usual pot of tea as well?
58- Well, I’m behind the counter serving people their orders. Oh, and you may not want to get too comfortable on that lampshade. The Wungs haven’t had time to dust in a little while, so you may inadvertently be doing so.
58- I’m in an armchair by the fire, warming up.
*eats brownie* Mmmmm. That was good. I’ll have another, please, and some spiced hot chocolate with a peppermint stirrer.
I’ve brought one of my copies of Macbeth; not as reading, but as a reference for a speech I’ve pretty much got memorized. Anyone want to hear it?
61- I’m glad to see you enjoy the Wungs’ cooking. Here’s your cocoa as well. And yes, a speech would be lovely.
60-Yes, it is slightly dusty, but it’s not an unpleasant kind of dust. It’s a pleasant, dust, sweet-smelling, the kind you get in old bookshops.
63- Ah, so true. One of my favourite places to be is either A. an old, dusty, cozy bookshop or B. the back room of a small antique store, filled with ancient furniture and books. You never know what treasures you may find.
61- Sure, go ahead.
63- Plus that great smell the wooden floors give off in bookstores.
I, personally, am walking in the door about to go absolutely nuts, and knock AthenianPsyco off the lampshade, scare Rosequartz away, and take her seat. Inadvertently. Or I might just sit on the comphy couch over there. Could I have some spilled ink? My cat loves spilled ink. And also some scones with rasberries it them. With both Chai Tea, and I think Constant Comet Tea. With aa touch of sugar, and a pitcher of cream. I’ll add the cream myself. I like to watch it spread. Very relaxing, you should try it sometime. I haven’t had virtual tea in so long… Possibly ever.
Go to the Complaints and Rants thread. Sorry, but I can’t get the hang of URL
66- Here you are. I have everything except the spilt ink. I would never let such a mess occur in this tearoom. And please don’t knock anyone off their seat or scare them away. That is extremely rude.
RtH walks in and greets Piggy. “How are you this evening? The tearoom appears most inviting after coming in. There is still a bit of a chill in the air outside. Might I have a brownie and a cup of spiced hot cocoa, please? Indeed, it’s nice to be in the company of such wonderful friends here!”
69- After greeting HAWK, Piggy says, “Where do you stand in the nuts versus no nuts debate in regards to brownies? Here’s your cocoa, anyway.”
*clears throat* I need the practice, so here goes.
“Is this a dagger which I see before me,
The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.
I have thee not and yet I see thee still.
Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible
To feeling as to sight? Or art thou but
A dagger of the mind, a false creation,
Proceeding from the heat-oppressèd brain?
I see thee yet in form as palpable
As this which I now draw.” *draws imaginary dagger*
“Thou marshall’st me the way that I was going,
And such an instrument I was to use.
Mine eyes are made the fools o’ th’ other senses,
Or else worth all the rest. I see thee still,
And on thy blade and dudgeon gouts of blood,
Which was not so before. There’s no such thing,
It is the bloody business which informs
Thus to mine eyes. Now o’er the one half-world
Nature seems dead, and wicked dreams abuse
The curtained sleep. Witchcraft celebrates
Pale Hecate’s off’rings, and withered murder,
Alarumed by his sentinel, the wolf,
Who’s howl’s his watch, thus with his stealthy pace,
With Tarquin’s ravishing strides, towards his design
Moves like a ghost. Thou sure and firm-set earth,
Hear not my steps which way they walk, for fear
Thy very stones prate of my whereabout,
And take the present horror from the time,
Which now suits with it. Whiles I threat, he lives,
Words to the heat of deeds too cold breath gives.”
A Wung rings a bell somewhere in the kitchen.
“I go, and it is done. The bell invites me.
Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell
That summons thee to heaven or to Hell.”
71- Bravo!
May I have a brownie, please? No nuts. I’m not allergic, I just don’t think that smooth chocolaty brownies should mix with chunks.
66- It’s Psycho, not Psyco. It’s comfy, not comphy. It’s raspberries, not rasberries. As my school’s grade’s spelling bee champion, I an bothered by your spelling.
72- Of course. My, these brownies are going fast, aren’t they?
I decided to memorize a passage from Romeo and Juliet. Here ’tis:
“But soft! what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the East, and Juliet is the sun!
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon
Who is already sick and pale with grief
That thou, her maid, art far more fair than she.
Her vestal livery is but sick and green,
And none but fools do wear it; cast it off.
It is my lady! O! it is my love.
O, that she knew she were.
She speaks, and yet says nothing; what of that?
Her eye discourses, I will answer it!
I am too bold, ’tis not to me she speaks.
Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven,
Having some business, do entreat her eyes
To twinkle in their spheres till they return.
What if her eyes were there, they in her head?
The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars
As daylight doth a lamp. Her eyes in heaven
Would through the airy region stream so bright
That birds would sing, and think it were not night.
See, how she leans her cheek upon her hand!
O, that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that cheek…”
I’m not entirely sure about the punctuation, but I’m pretty sure all the words are correct and in the right order.
*sigh* Where’s Paul when you need him?
I mispelled those words? Although I meant to mispell comphy. I have spellcheck on my computer, I can’t think how it missed Raspberry. I can see how it missed Psycho though, being a part of a bigger word it didn’t know.
Btw, all mispellings in this post are intentional. Because I enjoy bugging the Spelling Gnome.
Sorry I started the brownie trend Piggy. But hey! If they are all out, you could get us some lemon meringue pie!
76- It keeps the Wungs busy, so it’s fine. Even if we aren’t out, do you want some pie anyway?
I am intensely full today – ever since second period (my French class). Joyeux mardi gras!
Tea, please.
79- Here you are. How is your life going?
74- Bravo! *claps enthusiastically*
May I have some of that pie?
81- Well, I appreciate your ovation. What sort of pie do you want? Lemon meringue?
Can I have some nice fresh lemon custard? No lemon zest in it, please, that just confuses the lovely smooth and creamy texture.
With that, may I have some nice tea with condensed milk? The really sweet kind?
RtH thanks Piggy for the lovely hot cocoa, and replies, “Why, thank you for asking, though I do enjoy brownies with or without nuts. Whichever is in greater supply at the moment would certainly be excellent, and I’d be happy to keep from depleting your supplies of the variety favored by others.”
Now that RtH has thoroughly tired his tongue, he sits down to rest a moment. “Lovely hot cocoa, indeed!”
83- Here is your custard and your tea, complete with Carnation milk.
Piggy responds to HAWK, “Well, we’re running low on nut-infested brownies, so you can have one of those so we can make a new batch.”
80- It’s going good.
Ah, what a loverly evening! Alas. For lent I have given up all sweets. *sips Dr.Pepper*
I’ll take a hot cup of chocolate, please. And some wung buttons.
I know Lady Bunniful (over on the ‘phyte’s thread) said that the colors were back to default, but do they seem paler to anyone else? I suppose it could just be my computer–different resolution, or something. Not to mention, if I look at the screen at even a slightly different angle, the colors change (dratted laptop screens).
*sips hot chocolate* Yum!
RtH sits by the fire to warm up while he sips hot chocolate and munches a warm brownie. “The snow’s around 1-2 inches deep, and more is on the way, perhaps a foot! This could be remembered as the major storm of winter ’09.” He pauses, and continues, “It’s quite nice in here today. A number have gathered, as the usual dining hall is closed temporarily to give the exhausted GAPAs a much-needed break. Three cheers to the GAPAs, and to the fine managers of this Tearoom!” *Raises mug of hot cocoa*
“Kiwimuncher, indeed I imagine there is a certain sweetness in Dr. Pepper, at least in the ingredients. Please, do sit down and join us! We must be able to find something for you…”
“Luna, indeed colors might appear light because we have become adjusted to those of a much deeper hue for some time.”
82- Yes, lemon meringue, please. Thanks!
87- Could it even be going “well”?
89- They do seem rather light, don’t they? They almost fade into the white background.
90- A foot is a lot of snow? Where do you hail from?
91- Here you are.
amazingly, I’ve been deterred from doing my online class because the site is down! So now I have nothing to do! So I can come on here! Again!
Such a loverly day! Except for the rain. I’m serious! It’s been raining for 2 days straight!
92- bad grammar? good, well, who, whom, what ever.
We had our first snow day in years today!
95- Congratulations! How much snow did you receive? Here in Nebraska, we consider it extraordinary to go a year without snow days, so they’re not as big of a deal to us.
94- Really, you should check grammar and spelling out. They’re hot.
Piggy, I regret to say a foot is quite a bit of snow to think about considering how much has fallen recently. As it happens, about six inches fell, though it is still a healthy amount compared to the previous snows this winter. And, of course, a “heavy” snow in March is somewhat unusual (here).
The brownie is quite delicious!
97- I’m glad my baking is going over so well. Where I am, we keep finally melting all the snow, only to have another eight inches fall and replace it. It’s bizarre; we’ll have a succession of about a week of fifty degree weather, and then it’ll get cold again and replace our missing snow. Even so, I prefer winter to summer. I’ll take two feet of snow over 100 degrees with 95% humidity and a complete lack of wind any day.
Oh hey, the colors are back! I think the colors do look paler than usual, but only because we’ve gotten used to such brightness.
*sips tea*
Rather lonely in here. Not relaxing, though. Just… empty. Perhaps I’ll practise on the… Baroque organ. Yes.
*hops on bench*
*begins playing the second movement, Allegro tranquilo, of a Mendelssohn organ sonata*
Ay! It’s not “Allegro tranquilo“. It’s “Andante tranquilo“. My mistake.
*walks in halfway through* Beautiful! Don’t get up, I’ll brew my own tea. *rummages in cupboard* Now where do we keep the Roiboos… AUGH!!
No, no, don’t worry, everything’s under control. Just… opened the wrong cupboard. Ah, here’s the Chai. And a wet towel. I’ll need to clean up all that marmalade. Sorry, Piggy. Do keep playing.
*waits for Piggy to finish* *hands over music* Hey Piggy, can you play this one? It’s actually a serenade by Haydn, but Pauline Viardot adapted it for voice.
103- I’ll see what I can do. *begins sight reading*
You have no Spilt Ink? Well! Fine tearoom this is, No Spilt Ink! I shall have to complain. Well, do you have any regular ink and a plate? That would do fine. Although, as a matter of fact, my cat is at home, and I do not care for Ink, myself. Therefore, I do not, after all, wish for the Ink, or the plate. By the way, these scones are rather delicious. I should like the recipe. However, if you do not wish to give it to me, I shall have to live without it. Oh, and could I have some Chicken Salad? I feel like something more substantial.
105- Of course you can have the recipe. It’s not like I make any money from this job. And I can have some chicken salad made up in just a mo’. What sort of sundries do you enjoy in yours? Grapes? Almonds? Celery?
104- *sings along* Loverly!
Could I have a chicken focaccia sandwich, please?
*sins quietly to self* *eats croissant with honey* What a loverly evening!
As RtH munches upon his muffin, he whispers to Piggy, “Oh dear, Kiwi appears to be quietly sinning in the corner over there. What a shame…” *Shakes head sadly*
108- I’ll see what I can do for you.
110- Piggy exclaims, “Oh my gosh! That is truly hilarious. You should be ashamed, Kiwi,” and continues to laugh.
I think I’ll make myself some eggs Benedict.
I have a sore throat. May I have some raspberry zinger tea, please?
Sitting on a lampshade is fun.
I would like some raspberry zinger as well, please; my throat is also sore and I have a cough.
While my throat is not sore, I would take some raspberry tea with cream. I also hope that AthenianPsycho’s and RoseQuartz’s throats get to feeling better soon!
*plops down on the couch by a roaring fire*
While this is a tearoom and probably does not take kindly to such stressful things as homework, the cozy environment helps me focus…
*from shoulder bag, pulls out a notebook and pencil*
*sucks on end of pencil*
*scribbles in notebook*
*looks up*
oh and could I have a chocolate-filled croissant, please?
(114) The H&H is a perfect haven for doing homework. I have myself always been fond of writing or studying in eating establishments for the same reason you mention.
115- Restaurant lounges are a great place to write.
112- Here you are.
113- I’m sorry to hear that! I’ll be sure to make it not-too-hot.
114- Raspberry certainly seems to be the flavour of the day. I’ll have that croissant right out to you.
I am sorry I neglected your question. I should like a bit of celery, I think. Oh, and while you’re at it, could you fry me an egg? I don’t care how it’s done, just so long as it’s fried. And a biscuit to mop up the yolk that comes out of any properly fried egg. Actually, just bring out a plate of biscuits. And some Apple Butter, and Raspberry Jam. Or Raspberry Preserves, if you have it. And some more Tea, if you would.
118- Rather hungry, are we? I’ll get right on… all of that.
Might I have a Victoria cake and some China White, dear Piggy? A light snack will do nicely while I write my English essay.
120- Well, if you’re not horrendously hungry, I wouldn’t recommend an entire cake. Perhaps just a slice, then?
*procures foodstuffs*
So what’s the topic of thine essay?
this place is so much more peaceful then everywhere else. i’m not very hungry, but i guess if i’m going to be here, i should order some Chai tea, please, Piggy. thank you! (that was a quiet exclamation mark, so as to keep it peaceful.)
122- Here you are. I think I’ll have some for myself as well. *sips Chai*
Hm. We need some sort of discussion as we each sip our respective cups of tea.
123- thank you. umm… how about this? missswan and Red-tailed Hawk are planning their wedding over on the kokon thread. you should check it out. i’m going to be the cook, i apparently.
Well, the wungs will help you out aren’t they this tearoom’s cooks?
120- I’m writing about a book called ‘Durable Goods’, which isn’t very interesting at all. This loverly cake should definetly help me concentrate! *takes bite* Yummy as always!
Yeah, well virtual food can’t taste bad
127- thats what i said, too.
125- Indeed. By the way, I’d appreciate it if you used proper grammar and punctuation here. This is a respectable establishment.
126- I’ll pass the complement along.
127- I wouldn’t be so sure. I’ve had some virtual lasagna that nearly made me–but that’s another story.
128- Please see my comment above to trust kokopelli concerning the proper way in which to speak in this eatery. Thank you.
It’s nice to see some new faces in here for a change. Not that I’m tired of the old faces. I enjoy those as well.
129- Do I count as new or old?
130- In my book, you’re still in your neophyte stage. Although I’m nowhere near being one of the original MBers, I do have… *counts* 2 years and 3 months of experience on here, so I suppose my perception of “new” and “old” may be different than some. I do realise that you’ve been on here for a while, but you’ve not posted much until recently, so that factors into the criteria on which I’m judging you.
Wait, or did you mean in regards to the Hare & Hedgepig? Definitely very new.
131–Oh, you have a book? Sorry……That was just so tempting, somehow. I think I really should put some serious thought into that nap…..
While I’m here, however, I will take a nice raspberry scone, please.
132- Here’s your scone. And yes, I have a book. Not a physical one so much as a metaphysical one, but a book nonetheless.
I apologize for the double post, but I’ve noticed something which is now bugging obsessive old me. There seems to be an orphaned left bracket above the lovely drawing of this tearoom. I was wondering if it had a name?
I call it “Speen.” Cute, isn’t it?
135- Adorable! I think I’ll adopt it. Is it a Wung? I think it may be. Perchance en’ll help me run the tearoom. Won’t you, you widdle cutsie!
‘Spleen?’ I see. Quite cute, as long as it has a name. Nameless, it bugged me slightly. Perhaps it is a Wung. I have never quite understood what wungs look like, or whether they are capitalized, so I shall decline deciding whether it is or not. Ask it, perchance it will tell you. *starts eating* This chicken salad is delectable! I have always enjoyed the calming atmosphere of this place, it encourages relaxing after a long, hard, day.
137- Not “Spleen”. “Speen”.
Happy Pi day!!!
3.14159265358979323846264338327950… Ï€
138- Ah, I am sorry. So few people combine the letters S P E E N without an L in there, that I quite missed the absence of it. I am deeply sorry. I prefer the name Speen anyway. Similar to ‘Bean’… And yet not. Speen.
139- To you as well. Can I get you some of everyone’s favourite dessert?
141- Certainly! Thank you very much!.
Ah, yes. Now I am unconfused. It was all Robert’s fault. How very unsurprising.
He named your wung after Beavo’s Speen.
*gasp* Oh no! Your wung is missing! And after having hung out for SO LONG. *sniffle* [yes, I am feeling random. school does that to me]
144- AAAAAAH!!! Speen was stolen! Or maybe Piggy took en home? ROBERT, WHERE’S SPEEN?????
I never even got to see nin…
(145) All the attention must have scared en away.
En always bugged me, and yet now en’s gone, I miss en. Strange how things work. Let’s all turn on Robert and blame him for Speen’s absence. Gives us somebody to blame. Oh well, maybe en’s back at home.
Oh, don’t worry, everyone. Speen’s right here: <. (Actually, en might be hiding. I don’t know.) I just took en out to buy en a new pair of shoes; ens old ones were terribly full of holes. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to find Speen some juice.
149- Right after I got off the computer earlier, I saw a chipmunk on the porch. “Hi, Maya!” I said to my cat. “Look, there’s Speen the chipmunk!”
So, there are now three Speens
Beavo, you’ve started a trend.
Chipmunk! Chipmunks rule the world! Cheese rules the universe!
Could I have a nice block of brie? Thanks!
150- Oh dear. So he has. Let’s hope this doesn’t end badly, shall we?
Oh dear. I just imagined…a chaosed blogosphere/blagoblag/world. Everyone has tens of thousands of speens that multiply…I’d say like rabbits, but…it’s worse. The speens are getting lost, and their owners, who seem to half-forget characteristics of their speens, everyone running through the dirty, forgotten streetsm calling after their speens…
How frightening.
May I have some jasmine green tea, please?
150- I’m not so sure it’s Beavo who started the trend. Robert named the second Speen, so it’s partially his fault as well. All Beavo did was cover up a typo, while Robert succeeded in confusing a great many people.
151- Well, it would be a bit difficult to bring you a “block” of Brie, seeing as it’s a tad runny, but I’ll do my best.
152- Indeed you may.
153- Thank you.
I recently discovered “cinnamon apple breakfast tea”. Now THAT was an odd experience…
When’s the last time we actually had a tea conversation here at the Hare and Hedgepig, does anyone remember? It would be nice to start one up again, one that doesn’t have anything to do with any number of speens…
How’s the weather, everybody?
153) What did you do? Leave it out in the sun?
(153) Mwahahaha.
155- No, see, brie is runny just usually. Although I disagree with PIggy that that prevents it from being a “block”, because the outer crust-ish thing is usually pretty sturdy, no matter what the density of the inside material is.
There were nearly four Speens. A bug just crawled up my cord, and across my keyboard. I considered naming him Speen, but I changed my mind and instead named him Mip. En was missing an antenna. En was also quite cute.
I think we’ll have to define “speen” in the HG2MB.
Speen (speen):
noun
1. a misspelling of “spleen”
2. Beavo’s rainbow squid-zebra
3. Piggy’s wung
4. a stray < above the H&H pictures
5. RoseQuartz’s chipmunk
6. (almost) Errata’s bug
159–3&4 are the same…..aren’t they?
160- Ye-es, but…
161- But what? Does Piggy have two speens? Are there two <s abover the pictures? And I don’t see either of them…
162–That’s because it disappeared shortly after attention was drawn to it. Perhaps it’s shy.
163- Perhaps.
154- Well, we half-discussed poetry/drama a while ago. I suppose Paker took up most of the posts in the early days of this establishment.
157- Brie always comes in a wheel, not a block, hence creating the problem.
161- You could combine the two and make the definitions easier to understand.
162- No, just one. My widdle Speeny-poo.
163- No, I took en in, so en wouldn’t have to hide in the corners of the tearoom anymore.
165–Say hi to Speen for me, would you? *waves* Hi, Speen! We miss you!
165- I wonder…can Speen type? ‘Cuz if en could, en could tell us a lot of interesting stuff…
166- Speen: *waves back*
167- Type? Speen can’t even talk! En’s just a young Wung, after all.
Good idea, Rosequartz. I’ve seen Mip a couple times since I posted about en. En mysteriously grew back en’s antenna though… *waves at Speen*
169–Maybe it’s not Mip? Maybe it’s a relative?
I still see Speen…
Maybe he likes me. Could I please have another cup of chai tea? it was delicious last time…
(171) That’s not Speen, SR. Speen is a lefthand angle bracket. That’s a righthand one.
172–Are you sure??? And why is there now a new orphaned angle bracket?
172- My bad. Maybe en’s a relation of Speen. Like, Spen? Or Speem? Or possibly Spiel?
(173) Part of a search party, maybe? Or even…a mate?
175–But according to Piggy, Speen is just a young wung. Surely en isn’t old enough to have a mate?
A twin, perhaps?
Or maybe…*gasp*…Speen just turned around.
Hm. From what I can divine from Speen’s attempts at communication, this new bracket is his cousin Floom. I’m not sure I can take care of two young Wungs. Does anyone want to adopt Floom? Speen and I will decide if any potential guardians are fit to be foster parents.
178–I would be willing to adopt Floom, if Speen, yourself, and, of course, Floom, deem me worthy.
*waves* Very nice to meet you, Floom. Would you care for a chocolate?
Greetings, floom!!!!!!
May I have some more chai tea, please?
Here, Floom. Have some scone with jam.
Oh, you can have some too, Speen.
I would love to adopt Floom, although i don’t think he needs more treats.
Oh, fine. Do you like grapes, Floom? (After all, grapes are healthy treats.)
179- Floom: *nods shyly*
181- Wungs; *nomnomnom*
182- Indeed en does, and en will gladly have some.
The three of us will wait a while for more prospective parents to come, so as to be as fair as possible.
I would be okay with adopting Floom…but I am not a very good wung-parent.
Is anyone here?
*appears out of the gloom*
I’m here, apparently.
*munches long-forgotten cherry pie slice*
I would offer to adopt Floom, but I’d have no idea how to take care of en.
You guys are so formal! Thats very nice.
187- Not everyone is formal- I just prefer talking in this manner.
187- Well, this is a formal tea room which I more or less run. I would like to take over ownership of it, but, alas, I simply do not have enough money at this time.
Well, I suppose it is high time to choose a new parent for Floom. After much discussion and thought, the three of us, Speen, Floom, and I have finally decided on Floom’s new foster parent. And the winner is… Luna! I trust you will take care of little Floomy well and raise en to be a good and useful Wung. Wait a minute… Luna’s in the process of traveling back to Alaska at the moment (unless I’ve deduced incorrectly due to various time zones), and may not come back on MuseBlog for another week, depending on how much fun she’s having. I guess you get an extended vacation until she returns, Floom!
Floom must be happy.
189–No, you are quite right. At that moment, I believe I was in the Salt Lake City airport waiting to board, or having just boarded, my airplane to Alaska…..
I am having lots of fun, but as the parents are away (at work) and I just got home from work myself, I have nothing better to do, as my cat has abandoned me to watch the birds on the porch…..
I am very honoured to have been deemed worthy of becoming Floom’s foster parent. Whether Floom joins me now, or waits until I return to school, is up to en. Given the warmth en is probably accustomed to at the H&H, Floom might find it a wee bit cold here, as it is only 20 (-5 this morning), and there is a good foot or so of accumulated snow on the ground. The choice is yours, Floom.
191- I believe Floom is anxious to join you as soon as possible. Here en is!
192–Thank you, Piggy. Hello, Floom! I’ve very glad you could join me. If you would like, I will take you outside to enjoy a real winter while we’re here during the week. In the meantime, make yourself at home! But watch our for Gandalf (my kitty)–he’s a sweetie, but he might enjoy playing with you a wee bit too much.
Aww! Floom’s all adopted now! Very sweet…
I feel weird today.
194–Yup! Floom is greatly enjoying enself. I allowed en to go play outside in the snow yesterday (while I myself observed from the warmth inside……I didn’t feel like going out, at the moment). Floom really enjoyed that. En also is getting along quite well with my cat, and the of them can be seen tearing around the house playing tag…….So adorable.
195- To quote AthenianPsycho, “Aww!” Speen’s been playing with my cat too, as well as my dog. Right now en’s found a soft chair in the corner over there and is taking a little nap to regain ens energy. Soon I’ll let the older Wungs begin teaching Speen how to be a good Wung. And Luna, if you’re ever going to be away for a while, I’d gladly let Floom come and stay with Speen and I.
Now for some tea; my throat hurts quite terribly.
170- Most probably. However, I prefer to believe that Mip is a mysterious healing bug that can re-grow lost antennae. Hello, Floom. I do hope you’re well.
187-It’s a pleasant change from the normal humdrum life. Talking in words you rarely use is fun sometimes.
196–Thank you, I shall keep you offer in mind. Likewise, if you ever need to be away, Floom and I would be delighted if Speen were to stay with us.
I’m sorry your throat hurts! Winter cold? ( spring cold, I s’pose, it’s not winter down in the lower 48, huh? )
197–Floom is doing quite well, and en sends you ens greetings.
198- I’m not quite sure what I have, but it’s getting steadily worse, unfortunately. And no, it’s sixty-something here, so definitely spring. It’s nice being on MuseBlog because I can actually talk without cringing.
*sips hot cocoa* Where is everyone?
200–At home. Where my mom has now been on the phone for 20 minutes (on hold), because my flight was cancelled due to the blasted volcano……And who knows when I will get a flight out (assuming it’s not cancelled as well). I have a lovely fun filled evening full of frantically emailing professors ahead of me. I could use something soothing, please.
Sounds like you could use some of that hot chocolate, Luna. A cup would taste good to me, too, after this long, soggy day. Make that week.
200 – At home… not feeling well…
202–Thanks. That sounds delicious.
203–*hugs* I’m sorry you don’t feel well! Here, have some choklit. *gives choklit*
I’m sorry to disturb everyone, but what’s happening here? *is confuzzled* May I join?
204 – *eats choklit hestitantly* *realizes it’s virtual, so it won’t hurt my stomach* *gobbles up choklit*
I tried eating oatmeal. Not the most successful experiment I’ve had.
Hola! Good to be in the company of good friends. Excuse me, Mr. Wung, could you please bring me a nice spot of tea, and some scones? (TIME PASSES) Thank you very much! *Munch, munch*
MMmm! Delicious! My compliments to the chef! Wow. I just realized that that art on the wall is a picture of the Muse muses sitting at a table. Very sneaky, those GAPAs.
201, 202- Here you are.
207- Oh, my, you have been gone a while, haven’t you? I run the H&H now, taking orders and delivering them. The wungs still make the food.
205- Join? Join what? This is just a tearoom. There’s nothing to join.
207–Wow. I’d never noticed that….
Greetings!
I’m just dashing in for a quick pot of Oolong. And a scone. No, a slice of Battenberg, please, Piggy. I see you have the wungs nicely organised. Well done. That takes a great deal of lateral thinking.
Sorry to dash, but that’s what I do nowadays. I dash. People pay me to dash. As long as it’s productive. Which it rarely is, but I dash anyway. I shall attempt to make a more protracted appearance in the next few days, but for now…
Ffffffffffffrrrrrrroooooooooooph!
(that’s the sound of me dashing)
Ahh… Sweet comforts of the H&H… Is that still Floom up at the top? Or yet another Wung? Well, anyway, I should do my schoolwork… *pulls out school*
No, that’s another wung, I think. speen or floom?
210- It’s a pleasure to see you again, Master Baker. Here is your tea and your cake. Don’t wear yourself out with all that dashing. Do tell us how you’ve been in recent months.
Oh, good heavens. A third wung? I think the GAPAs are doing it on purpose now. Well, come here, little Wung. What’s your name? Nelby? It’s nice to meet you, Nelby. But I still can’t take care of more than just one wung. A new adoption is in order. Speen, would you like a scone? You would? Okay. Let’s go get you one.
(213) To my inquiry as to Master Baker’s activities of late, he responded, “building a robot lion, making a model of a gaol, drawing simplified versions of historical maps, and all sorts of other stuff.”
214- Yes, I do know he’s been extraordinarily busy with museum exhibits, unless my memory is failing me. Well, if it puts tea and cakes on the table, I support it.
I was dropping in for a coffee and noticed that there’s a Wung in need of a home. I’d be happy to take him, provided he’d like to be adopted by me.
Hello, Nelby. *pets*
Hello delightful H&H! *eats cheese*
Oh, another one? This place is teeming…I’m starting to think that the kitchen wungs are more sneaky than anyone gives them credit for being…
I would be happy to adopt Nelby. Nelby is adorably adorable-y. *melts*
Hello Master Baker!
Sorry to have missed you, all I saw was a blur whipping around the corner. All of those projects sound very cool though, best of luck!
I’d like some bara brith, and a cup of china gunpowder, thankyou.
Such a busy day! Two tests, one mock AP, and an audition.
216- Here’s your coffee. I’ll be sure to keep you in mind as a possible foster parent for Nelby, but I’ll wait for others as well.
220- Here you are. Now, if you would, explain to me what a “mock AP” is. A practice Advanced Placement test? That would be my first guess. And for what did you audition?
May I have some jasmine green tea and an egg&cress sandwich, please? I’m quite hungry, I was just blown off by my ColorGuard instructor for two hours.
222- Here’s your tea and a small plate of sandwiches, seeing as they are finger sandwiches.
221 – Why thank you.
223- Thank you very much. *eats daintily*
221-
(yesterday)
Yes, exactly. A three hour practice AP Environmental Sciences exam, on which I think I did pretty well.
(today)
I got a 63 out of 100! That sounds bad, but it places me in the 3/5 without studying, and well above the rest of my class.
The audition was various bits of orchestral music played on the cello, including some Ravel and Vivaldi. I got 3rd chair, which I’m not too happy with, but there was only one point difference between us tip three cellists.
226–That just indicates exactly how horrible I must have done on my Calc AP in highschool to have only pulled a 2/5.
Congratulations, though, a 3 is an excellent score. So I assume you will later be taking the actual AP test? I bet with a little bit of studying, you could bring it up to a 4, which would be uber-awesome.
226) I have a question related to that actually. Is AP Environmental Science a year long class for you? Because apparently some schools do one semester environmental science and one semester bio. I wish my school offered that class instead of just AP Biology, as I find ecology and so on much more interesting and understandable than cell structure and function and the wondrous properties of water.
*ahem*
A 63 is excellent! . My ruination as a result of a likely dismal ap bio score is nigh, so I would be very envious of a three. Did you take it at a test center of some sort? humm I should sign up to to that.
boy I am full of questions today
Hmm Piggy if it is not too much trouble I would like my usual cup of earl grey. I just had some green tea, actually…some earl grey would set me up quite nice.
you want to get a four because more colleges except that for credit then threes.
so, I’m guessing that there are 100 questions on the test? multiple choice?
I have no clue about AP except that it’s hard, and I’m going to take as many as i can.
May I have some Jasmine Green Tea and some Teacake? Thank you.
I am feeling not as miserable as I was before. *is relaxed*
228- Here you are.
230- I’ll have that right out to you.
229- I’m planning on taking a lot of AP classes as well. Has anyone here heard of a thing called International Baccalaureate (IB)? It’s sort of an honours programme type of thing, with different classes than the norm. I decided not to apply, mainly because you have less control over what classes you take, especially in the realm of electives. Anyway, next year I plan to take AP Music Theory and AP English Language and Composition, and my senior year I will take AP Latin, AP Spanish, AP English Literature and Composition, and AP Calculus AB or BC. I’ll also take I.B. Theory of Knowledge, which is weighted like any AP class. I’d like to take AP U.S. History, but I’m already taking one more class per semester than normal. Perhaps I’ll try to squeeze in a zero hour as well, though we’ve already applied for next year’s classes. Anyway, I’m in the mood for some Japanese green tea with pomegranate and a slice of Madeira cake.
Hello, I appear to be a noephyte, but this type of post suits my personality perfectly! May I please have earl grey tea with honey, a glass of pomegranate juice, and some salad? Thank you!
232- *presents comestibles* Enjoy!
May I have some more rosehip and hibiscus iced tea and a scone with jam?
Oh, a new wung. Hello, Nelby.
234- Of course you may.
Oh, by the way, I’m stnding on the table admiring the lovely portrait. Also, it appears there is another lost wung at the top of the page . May I adopt it ( it looks like ^) please!! *bambi eyes*
236–Enceladus, that would be Nelby. He is temporarily under Piggy’s care. I think Piggy is holding off his decision on the adoption until all interested prospective parents have had time to express their interest.
231- I’m sort of with you about IB. too much do this, this and this. you can take as little or as much AP as you want. not really the same with IB.
For people in High school, what did you all take in 9th grade?
Can I adopt Nelby? I would take very good care of en. *pets*
Perhaps since there’s already been , and ^, the next wung to turn up will be v.
Whoops! I meant:
Perhaps since there’s already been a left-bracket wung, a right-bracket wung, and ^, the next wung to turn up will be v.
I have two kitties that can play w/ Nelby *more bambi eyes*
238- Let’s see… I took American history (required), gym, biology, English, Spanish, Latin, geometry, and a foods class. Oh, and forensics (speech/debate).
Now let’s see the list of prospective parents…
Tesseract
AthenianPsycho
Enceladus
Rainbowstar
Hm. Tough choice. But I’m going to have to say… AthenianPsycho. Okay, Nelby. You be good, hear?
*drinks tea and pomegranete juice, and eats salad* *admires lovely portrait* *hopes to invite his friends to the MuseBlog* *Finishes salad*
Piggy, may I please have some chocolate covered pretzles?
May I have a pair of scones with cloudberry jam, please?
*sits down in armchair and looks at Nelby*
Fascinating! A wung! I’ve never seen one before.
May I have some more Jasmine Tea, please? Thank you very much.
*relaxes in armchair and admires the room*
A wung! Aww, how adorably fascinating!
242-Ooh, yay! Nelby has adopted me!
I just got back from camping in the snow. My friends and I slept in a snow cave. Now THAT was an odd experience.
May I have some fudge and some jasmine tea, please?
Oh, Nelby is so cute! Perchance he could visit me, sitting on the table? I hope he likes Earl Grey tea! May I have a refill please?
243- That sounds delicious. What type of chocolate do you prefer? Milk, dark, or white?
244- Here you are.
245- Of course you may.
246- Mmmm. Fudge also sounds delicious. I’ll have that right out.
247- Indeed.
Well, I have some news of sorts. I’m getting an organ of my very own! The musical instrument, not the sack of tissue/blood. It’s an electric organ, not an actual pipe organ, but it’ll be marvelously useful. Best of all, it’s free except for moving expenses. Hopefully by this time tomorrow it’ll be up and working.
248 – Oh, cool. Can you play the organ? My boyfriend’s father built a pipe organ in their garage.
249- Indeed I do. The organ’s installed, but it’s not working completely right. The top few pedals aren’t calibrated right, which I will fix when I have the patience, and the entire flute section keeps cutting out, which I have no idea how to fix. And in the background it’s making a noise like a helicopter. Other than that it’s working great.
248- Dark, please.
250- Wow! An organ! Those things are awsome!! I play the French horn.
SFTDP
Looks like another wung down at the bottom! they look like
If it’s a new one can I name it Finty?
Those aren’t new wungs. They are, from left to right, Speen ( < ), Nelby (^), and Floom ( > ).
SFTTP
Huh. my picture of the wung(s) didn’t post it looks like Speen, Nelby, and Floom got in line together, respectively.
253- Well, they are bunched together. Also, Nelby is at the top. How can he be at the top and bottom at the same time?
255–But Nelby isn’t at the top any longer. He apparently decided to move down to the bottom, where he, Speen, and Floom are having a reunion.
251- Here you are. Yes, organs are indeed awesome.
256- Indeed. We decided to have a bit of a playdate, didn’t we? I’ll go get the ice cream cake.
Oh, I am in a bad mood. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s the annoying sidebar thing, maybe its because MB is loading a bit too slow. Anyways, may I have some cheesecake, if there are any? I didn’t bother to check the menu, sorry. If not, may I please have some ice cream cake? Thank you very much.
Can I just have some tea? my eyes are bad enough that I can’t even read the menu and I don’t want to go get my glasses.
I learned in London that tea is taken VERY seriously in England, which is cool because there is a surplus of tasty desserts and little sandwhiches and tea all over the place.
225- who are Nelby, Speen and Floom and what are wungs?
258- You may have either, both, or neither. The menu shows simply a small portion of what is served here. We are in the Oasis, I remind you.
259- Here you are. Yes, tea is much more popular across the pond than in the States.
Great. I missed the whole Speen thing. Do I see MuseBlog Meme status approaching?
I brought my rainbow zebra-squid to the H&H, I hope that’s okay. It gets along fine with Wungs when they aren’t pulling it’s tail/tentacles. I think it’ll take some peppermint tea and a virgin a crumpet. I’ll have a blueberry muffin, thank you very much.
If I didn’t know better, Nelby was eyeing Speen with something like dissaproval. No Speen, put away your katanas.
261- Here’s your tea, your American muffin (I assume), and your virgin crumpet. I also assume that the Speen in your third paragraph is your Speen, not mine. And yes, I believe it could become a meme.
