37–um, great, but…..I’d much rather not think about it, considering that our attic is infested with bats and has been for quite a number of years now. Which means our attic and the walls are probably filled with quite a bit of guano and whatever is living in it. Not something I care to think about, honestly.
Nor the fact that I will ahve a “fun” filled summer where nearly every night a bat gets from the attic/walls into the house in the middle of the night, and ends up in my room where I get to spend several sleepless hours chasing it with a net. Or worse, I wake up to the sound of my cat attacking a bat and get to jump up before he kills it or before the bat injures him, w hich usually leads to the bat being loose in the living room, which is worse than in my room, as half the living room has a very high ceiling (like WAY higher than one could reach), whereas my bedroom I can reach to the ceiling with a net.
Not fun. I’ve nothing against bats, mind you–I think they’re quite adorable, but I. do. not. like. spending nearly every night of the summer chasing bats around the house trying to capture them and put them outside. And being constantly afraid that my cat will catch one (he is very skilled at that, and he finds it GREAT fun) and get hurt.

luna- i just checked the musefanpage using the search technique described on the random thread, and then used cntrl f to find hits for poisons in my pride, and i didn’t find ANY slipup- am i being too lazy, or am i missing something?
90–‘phytes have a particular way of posting, generally. (Note: no two ‘phytes are exactly alike, so this is a bit of stereotype, or perhaps more than a bit. I am grouping all ‘phytes together in this explanation, which is as bad as grouping all of anyone group together.) Typically, ‘phytes tend to make pointless posts, strings of posts in a row, and completely random and off-topic comments. Again, this is a generalization, even the most long-term of MuseBloggers has been known to do these things. When somebody is a ‘phyte, this is accepted. The individual in question has not been around very long, and thus has not had time to “learn the ropes” of MuseBlog etiquette. They’re given a pass, much like a young child who makes some sort of blunder. This is not to say longer-term ‘bloggers do not ever get annoyed when ‘phytes make mistakes, but we were once there ourselves, we understand how it is, and we know that said ‘phyte will grow out of it. To be a ‘phyte forever, implies that one wants to continue in the posting habits that many ‘phytes are prone to: PoPos, off-topic posts, and strings of double, triple, quadruple posts. This is the stereotypical ‘phyte. Basically, then, if one deciees they want to be a ‘phyte forever, it means they want to continue in theses sorts of neophytic behavior. Which, while acceptable and understandable in one who’s not been around long, would be downright annoying in a blogger who’s spent more than enough time on the blog to get the hang of things.
******I would like to note: I am not trying to diss ‘phytes with this previous statement. I am merely explaining why the thought of an individual deliberately staying a ‘phyte is (to some) construed as distasteful.
As far as oldbies: No, I wouldn’t say that if you are not a ‘phyte then you are automatically an oldbie. My idea of who/what an oldbie is is sort of based on a bunch of different criteria (note: I do not actually think about where everybody falls in these, or at least not consciously). For instance, I think to me who I would consider an oldbie is based upon: how long they’ve been on the ‘blog (were they present before my last several month hiatus?), there actual age (or at least how old they seem on the ‘blog), and how often they post (the recognizability of their name as having been on for awhile).
For instance, myself, who has been on 2 yrs 265 days, I would consider an oldbie. As well as everyone who was already a blogger at that time (Pan, oxlin, groundhog, I believe, among many others), as well as Beavo, POSOC, MissSwann (they are more recent arrivals–I think–but they were “established” bloggers after my last hiatus, some before, ‘though since my joining)……
And by the way, these are JUST A SMALL SELECTION. I do not have the time nor the patience to go through and type down every individual that I think of as an oldbie.
To generalize it, anybody who has been here for 6 months to a year, and posts often enough for their name to be recognizable, is probably somebody I would consider an oldbie. Then, of course, there are just the established ‘bloggers who although not necessarily “oldbies” are not ‘phytes anymore, either.
**********Another note: I don’t really like fixing labels on all the different ‘bloggers. Basically, there are ‘phytes, and there are those who are established and have outgrown ‘phytehood and the stereotypes that go with it. I consider myself an oldbie, because I feel like I’ve been here forever.

Since the gravatar follows your email, if you use the same email on all threads, the avatar will follow you to all threads. My only suggestion for doing AEs is to either use an alternate email, or just leave a letter out of your email……But on this thread only.

Leaving out a letter in your email has been suggested as a way to trick the software.
Of course, you’ll have to change which letter you leave out with each new AE, or else guessers can just refer to the avatar with your previous AE…..

The easiest way I can think to disguise your avatar is to add a number to your e-mail address when you fill in the coment form. If your e-mail address ends in “.com”, write “.com1” instead. The blog software will assign you a new avatar. When you need another new one, write “.com2”, and so on.

I was just on yesterday. And earlier today. Although, you won’t likely see me around as often as you’re used to, as it’s now summer vacation. Which means I’m at home with my family (who discovered MB shortly prior to Christmas, but likely have forgotten by now, and would not be too keen on me spending hours on here, instead of being sociable, plus if they were to be reminded of its existence, would probably see fit to spy on me through it……). Also, being home means working, where I cannot sit around posting……For obvious reasons.
So, yeah…..Plus, being home means I’m three hours earlier than all of you, so when you are all on during peak posting time (evening, 6-9ish), it’s only 3-6, here. Only two of those hours being at all convenient for me, depending on my work schedule…….
