First post?
Okay, yeah. I am terrible at HTML, but there is something you type in to have this screen entry thing…I can’t really describe it…
Looks cool.
Ooh fun. I can only do links, fonts, and the basic italics and blah.
You can’t do fonts on here though. *sobs* lol
On here i can do….

The end
Oh yes and green and LINKY! (the fan page)
Ta daaa.
My linky didn’t work! *sob* Ok try again… Linky!
Noooo..GAPA, what am i doing wrong???
How do you make text green?
and italics and bold and typwriter font and strikout ?
Ebeth, can you tell me what you do to make all of the above? The only thing I can do is italics and you do (i) to start the italics, and (/i) to end them, except you use these instead of these ()
what does this do?

Wow, I haven’t seen you in ages BlackRaven. Hows it going?
Thank you GAPA!!!!
May I take a moment to bask in my glory and say that I was the 1st to suggest an html thread? Thank you. (Well at least, I think I was thi first. As far as I know)
How do you make it strikethrough and that weird font? I only know italics and green.
Italics
green [a] [/a]
12- how did you get the underline like this?
1- yay! you’re back!
gapas, can you use bulletin board code here?

so ive had online access for 3 months already, + i still dont know what this means:

will someone plz just tell me?
YAY GAPA THANK YOU!
Let me first say that WordPress ( which powers Museblog) doesn’y allow a whole lot of HTML, unlike other bloggin sites like LiveJournal.
Anyway. The basics.
What does HTML mean?
HTML stands for hyper text mark up language. Any coding used for anything on the internet is usually referred to as a language.
There are other languages? O.O Like what?
CSS is widely used. Other popular languages are: Java, Javascript, PHP, XHTML, and the like. There are also more advanced languges like Perl, but I don’t know much about that so, feh.
Yeah, whatever, how do we make things bold, and stuff?
All tags begin with a “” and end with a “”. Within that space we can place various things, wioth various commands.
For instance, if I were to place any of the following letters: i, b,u,s ; I would get somthing like this.
This is italicized text
This is bold text.
This is underlined text
This strikethrough text
Those are the simplest of tags for HTML.
“Green” is actually the tag for a link. The “a” is from the a href= tag. An example of this would be
This is a clickable link. It was done in this fashion ( replace [ with when typing on your own. )
[a href=”https://musefanpage.com/blog/”] Museblog! [/a]
_____________________________________
That’s all for now. If anyone has further questions, ask me. ^^
I will go over bulleted lists next, although evil WordPress kills them.
I think it can be both. I’ve seen it used more as the 2nd one though…
Hmm, not all of the coding seems to work. Oh well. My eternal nemisis lives on. -sharpen stick to whack WordPress with-
YaY!!! I think this should be green! I hope it is!
For a line through it, I think you do this (strike) except you use Is this crossed out? does that make it stop?
and I don’t remember what this does..let’s see: (strong) What does this do??
this is what (strike) does…does it work?
Okay, as Axa has covered the HTML, I will teach you all the basics of stickermaking. Let’s begin at the beginning.
What is a sticker?
A sticker is a little picture that had sticky glue-stuff on the back that causes it to stick to things.
How do I make them?
You just print out a pretty little picture and run it through your sticker machine. If you don’t have a machine, tough luck. Here’s a little recipe that works almost as well:
You need: 4 tbs hot water
2 tbs flavored gelatin powder
Pour the gelatin into a small glass bowl, add water and stir until blended.
Brush the mixture onto the back of your sticker.
Allow to set for 30-45 minutes or until dry.
When you’re ready, wet the back and stick it!
Okay, there you go!
Where do I get the pictures?
First, go to https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=227, the Boosting Muse thread, and copy the hpb pictures that Bobby was so nice to post for us. Use them. And, find some images online of Kokopelli. It shouldn’t be hard. Collect other Muse-related pictures, such as the Muses, pie, and the Muse logo.
What should I do with the images?
Leave the hpb ones as they are. With the Kokopelli picture, paste him into a writing document on your computer. Type Kokopelli 4 Prezzy! or Vote For Koko! underneath in a Muse-ish font. Make up some things to write with the others. If you find a picture of Pwt, make a Pwt Pwns sticker with her/him on it. If you don’t have a pic of Pwt, just do the words.
For stickers without images, just type in a text box. MUSE and MOSTLY HARMLESS are good ideas.
How did some Musers get hpb stickers?
They wrote in to Muse at:
Muse Magazine
Attention: Samantha Sordyl
140 S. Dearborn Street, Suite 1450
Chicago, IL 60603
Send a self-addressed and stamped envelope, and you’ll get some stickers!
That should be all. If you have any questions, raise your hand.
lmao means laughing my a** off.
I wonder why nobody bothered to answer that?
Gradster(1)
btw I want to learn html, what should I do?

(b)bold(/b)
(t)typewriterfont(/t)
(s)strikethroughthing(/s)

If they don’t work, I guess I’ll see…
Whoa… I hope the GAPA’s delete that, it’s so embarrassing… *hides face under trash bag*
Let’s try again…
Italic
Noooooo! But at least I got first post. YEAH!
Sorry I’ve been away for so long. My stupid brother rules the computer. Okay, he’s killing my dog. I’d better go save her.
sweeeeeet!
Gradster1, Axa taught some, but I really can’t help!
I “sent away” for stickers!!!!
Hope they come soon!!!!!!!!
24- yay!

instead of using () or [ ] use angle brackets. I cant show them to you, because the dont’s show up when you post them but the are the little arrow thingies. The alligators that you use to show “greater than” and “less than” is math class.
Is good to have ya back! I’m Trillian of Rhodes, by the way, I dont know if you were here when I changed my name.
My angle brackets were vanquished in my post, sadly. Hmph.
You can’t truly learn HTML in a matter of hours- it take a lot of trial and error. I have two sites I maintain ( one of which I’m updating now, actually) and let me tell you, both took a long time to get it right.
If you have any specific questions, I’ll try and answer them. A good place to start tho’ is the website “Lissa Explains it all” which is a HTML help site just for kids. Kinda sappy, but she has good help there.
Mwahahah this should work
33- i’ve been to that site! ‘t is great.
did underlining work yet???t
apparently not
there’s a symbol that allows the tags to show up; it’s used for those instructional sites. i can’t remember it.
ok i’ll try some

yay! they all showed up!
What about my sticker post? Has anyone made any stickers yet? That took me a really long time!!!
I can change stuff but i dont know how to do links. this may actually be a good thing considering museblogs rules about them.

“
How do you do the little heart thingies? :heart:?

If you click on it, it shows you whatHTMLs people used to get somthing or other. It also shows you who and when people have posted on this thread.
The definition of RSS is:
RSS – (Rich Site Summary or RDF [Resource Description Framework] Site Summary). An XML format for sharing content among different Web sites such as news items. How does it work? A Web site can allow other sites to publish some of its content by creating an RSS document and registers the document with an RSS publisher. A web publisher can post a link to the rss feed so users can read the distributed content on his/her site. Syndicated contentcan can include news feeds, listings of events, stories, headlines, etc.
It’s just a way to distribute stuffs widely

Choose Democracy- Choose Pie” with a picture of Koko, and a couple that say Pwt Pwns and 2 that say Muse: Mostly Harmless. I used your recipe for sticker glue coz I dont have a sticker machine. Anyway, CSS is better than normal HTML, if you ask me. It simpler and easier to do. Instead of going through and writing
thing within brackets and such ( font type, etc) you can do it like this, a bit of code from a site I made.
body
{ background: #567D97;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: top center;
background-attachment: fixed;
font-family: Century Gothic;
color: #C0BB91;
letter-spacing: normal;
font-weight: lighter;
font-size: small; }
Etcetera, etcetera. See why it’s called CSS now? Cascading Style Sheets.It’s easier to write out, and looks better too. :3 Those of you with Mozilla can view a page’s coding- it’s a nice feature, but make sure you don’t steal things! CSS is great. Or it would be if it worked, which it doesn’t. All the main browsers are so buggy, CSS just adds to the comprehensive mess that is HTML. What you end up doing (trust me, I do it for a living) is writing as much CSS as you think you can get away with, and then shoving in bits of supposedly obsolete HTML which are “deprecated” (i.e. frowned on), but at least they do what they’re supposed to. Then you check it in as many browsers as you can install on your machine without it falling over, and hope that no-one’s still running IE5.6 on a mac, because the whole thing will turn purple or explode. If everyone ran Firefox, the world would be better. But they don’t.

I like coding in Python. Python is cool…
Python is an easy launguage to learn. Or so they say. I’ve spent a year or so learning it and still havn’t gotten through basic stuff but then again, I spent about three months totally ignoring it.
I actually made a website last year with its own domain name and everything… I got tired of doing all the HTML and CSS by hand though, so I cheated and just got FrontPage. Much easier for those who are not good at remembering.
I run Firefox when my regular browser kaputs. Which is often enough…
All hail Firefox

Amen. Firefox is so much better, I laugh at the poor unfortunate souls still using IE. And I agree with everything else said, except for dulcimers, because I wouldn’t know, which makes me sad.
-sad-
I actually don’t know much about Perl ( too advanced for me) and XHTML is just a modified ” OMG WE ARE TEH PWERFUL” version of HTML. To me.
It’s not so complicated if you learn step by step I encourage y’all to try it. And kill MySpace, which is a haven for HTML illiterates. As I ‘ve described on numerous occaisons.
I’m using firsefox right now. I also can use Safari, for Mac users, but I like Firefox better. Cool LOGO, YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAI don’t have a MySpace. I’m kinda glad. It might take time away from Muse blog, which I have been away lately because of computor problems. BUT GUESSS WHAT!!! I’m getting a new computer, so soone I’ll be able to go one here more often, whenever I want. Not just when my parents aregone.
I don’t know any tricks of the computer. I do know that, if your school blocks sites, you can use proxeis. Just type in Dropproxy, or something along those lines, and you’ll be able to surf the web in freedom. I HATE school firewalls for the internet.
My school doesn’t just have firewalls… they monitor all your acticities on the internet. I dont’t know how, but they do. I cant post on the Museblog at school because they would know and I would get in trouble.
Once during writing/lit we were supposed to be typing up our essays but I already had half mine done at home so Jess and I were emailing eachother from across the library. And the librarian comes up to me with this ‘oh you bad child’ look on her face and repremands me quietly.
Oh, Im such a rebel. Yup. Crazy uncontrollable child. Mmmm-hmm.

Andy is much weirder than i thought. He’s now writing a program on his calculator to figure out the stuff we’re doing in science (the resistance and current and all that). So he starts writing this program, and he gets a third of it done after maybe 20 min. and lizzy and i are like “You know, it would probably be a lot faster to just take the test using a pencil, or better yet just punching in numbers” but he was like “no i must write a program for it because i’m weird”

I tried to make one for dictionary dot com, but I got the adress wrong and so the search blew up in my face. I then made a second one with the correct adress and it works, but the old one is still there bothering me with its extra-stuffness. Now there’s a third one which I don’t recall making and I can’t tell which one is which becuase for some reason the adress is displayed in a shortened version on pretty much everything for that particular site. Very confusing. In retrospect, I should have just put it in my favorites.

Don’t make me reap your mortal organs

ARR u just reminded me that i STILL haven’t written in. Curse you! Now i feel like i should go write it right now and yet i really don’t feel like it. Dear ol’ MB might go kerplunk again while i’m gone. lol
This is my first post here so I’m just trying some stuff out. What does this do?
Cross out! Die! Yippee!!! is this itallics? This is all I have to say right now.
Woops! I messed up at testing! Let me try again. {a href=””title=””}, {abbr title=””}, {acronym title=””}. I hope this works!
Darn! I messed up again! Let me try again. {i} is this italics?{/i} I hope this worked.
Hi, Tyler L.,
Welcome to MuseBlog. Have fun!
Here’s an HTML hint: Use the arrow brackets (the kind that look like “greater than” and “less than” signs) instead of these { }
I’ve been having fun messing with colors. Whee! Anyhoo. Does anybody *coughaxacough* know WHY it makes a certain color? I mean i understand why 000000 would be black (sort of) but why is white F? Why do Cs add yellow? Why is looking these up all the time annoying? (Sheer laziness probably. Anyway.) And last, but certainly not least-Why do i care?
gelatin…would that rot?
hi, tyler l.!
I looked it up for you Ebeth. As follows.
TML Color codes are composed of six hex numbers that represent a possible 16.7 million color combinations. The hex color codes are built on the RGB color model. (R stands for red, G for green, and B for blue). With your typical html code that looks like this: #FFFFFF it breaks down as follows. The first two hex digits #FFFFFF represent ‘red’. The second set of two hex digits #FFFFFF represent the color green. The third and final set of two hex digits #FFFFFF represent the color blue.
Quoted, with changes for easier understanding.
It’s a command, basically. Everything is code on a computer, and on the web. Everything.
Hmm. Interesting. So if i had the same letters but in a different order would that change the color?
Hokey smoke Bullwinkle! 16.7 million?!?!?! Wow. *chuckles evilly* The ultimate procrastination device. Mwahaha.
Tank yew mucho! *virtual choklit*
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! POST 200!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’M THRILLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^^ No problem, Ebeth.
-eats choklit-
I believe there is an alternate color system that you can use, the CMYK system (cyan magenta yellow black). I think it’s more often used in priniting, but I’ve heard of it being used in html.
Hmm, I’d say you probably can, but it’s not accepted as the norm, i.e. if you were to want to have a valid HTML document, you would have to use the Hex codes.
-is into dhtml right now. Javascript-
Alright. Pop up boxes. xD
That was supposed to be /Javascript.
-_-;;
Hi! Gelatin is your basic Jell-o mix. Just buy a box or two and that’ll make you a lot of stickers.
i hope this works…i found it in the olde html thread…
https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=47
that thread
…and it’s not orange..grr…
WordPress is really a dear, it blocks Hex codes. -glares at WordPress-
One day, I swear…-dark muttering-
i do wonder….do the codes work in the “Name” field?
….still wondering if the codes work on the Name…..
apparently not.
i’ll try hiding my name, then, with the tags…
so i tried hiding my name with the tags; the blog deleted the post…odd…i also just tried one tag before the name but not the ende tag and that dissappeared, too…
ok, i’m trying this one
green doesn’t work either…aargh
The &_____; codes work, but nothing else. It’s probably built into the software, or something.
I made stickers yesterday!
I printed them out and glued them to mailing labels.
Then I gave them to my teacher today to wear, and she wore them all day!
the funny thing about html, is that you can type as many of these >>>>>>>>> as you want without getting your text eaten, but you can’t do the other ones facing the other way without your text being eaten. angle brackets facing the opposite of this one: > mean “start eating text” and these: > mean “stop eating text”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

(i)ohhhhhh. That’s how it works(/i)
(s)what does this do?(/s)

?
does this work:?:
HELP!! i dont know how to make like strikout and italic and all that stuff!! and i want to know so i can do it on my myspace!!
In my opinion I don’t think myspace is very good.
I know it is probaby a good way to express yourself but then, why not just make your own website?
Don’t you just say My space? Instead of My myspace? Istnt that a little Odd?
(232) No. Microsoft Frontpage is a HTML editor that comes with the whole Microsoft Office bit; I use plian Notpad and do my stuff by hand, really.
(243) To make italics, do the following, without spaces.
< i > -your text here- < /i >
The same goes for strikeout; use either a “s” or the word “strike” where the “i” is. It depends on the site, really.
(244) I agree. Puberty on the internet=no. Not fun to watch. Thus, I rep LiveJournal.
Does this work?
How do you do image coding in HTML? *feels like she should know this*
[censored]! No! Bad link! My most humble apologies. Let’s try this again…
Whatever. I thought I’d gotten the coding right, too. Darn.
<img src=”URL OF IMAGE”>
Did I make my speech on hotlinking yet? Oh well, I’ll say it again.
-deep breath-
Hotlinking (also known as direct linking) is bad. But what is it? When you copy an image and paste it into another window ( an example, using it for a signature, etc) you are hotlinking. It’s bad because it takes bandwith from the site you copy it off of. Every time you the picture loads, it’s loading from server of the website you took it from . This is illegal, as you are literally stealing from the site. Webpages have a certain amount of bandwith alloted to them, and hotlinking steals that bandwith, and in turn, money and/or service from the webmaster.
People pay for their websites. So don’t be a jerk, upload to your own server. Like Photobucket.
This is not directed at anyone, I’m just saying so none of you make the mistake and incur the wrath of the internet. ROLFCOPTERS!!1!!!one
Firefox rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone besides me figure out that the admins could just delete the HTML they don’t want us to use on this webpage from our posts? So they wouldn’t have to mess with any automatic software, since our posts already have to be approved by them in the first place. Anything unfamiliar to they that looks like HTML they just highlight and delete.
247 – I can’t show you on the blog, because it strips most HTML tags, as The Bev says. But have a look at this page, if the GAPAs will let it through –
http://www.chami.com/html-kit/minit/pages/imgtag1.html
If you want to play around with lots of HTML, download HTML-kit from the same site. It’s like Notepad with added helpful bits. I use it for most of my coding now.

How do you make stuff tiny?
Type-time?
I hope that works…
I just set up my voice recognition software.
What’s an RSS feed and what would subscribing do?
None of it did anything. What’s the stuff at the bottom of the page, blockquote cite, acronym title, abbr title, a href title? I know a href goes in linky html. And how do you do small text?
I saw this once, I think:
