POOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I’ve NEVER gotten first post. That’s a hot topic.
ok hmm illl get back 2 this
i’m gonna kill you gapas- you put “bob”‘s birthday on thedates to remember *cries*
Ha! 3 times!
Gratters, Ptolemy. Otzi, you’ll get it eventually. Not to worry.
I personally think the war in Iraq is a big joojooflop. I mean, Bush lied to the American public and is just-trigger-happy. I know Monty is a big Bush fan and says that everyone is doing fine, but personally, I have no idea what she’s talking about, since things have never looked worse for the US. The economy is struggling, the environment is suffering, and there’s general angst and unhappiness among the citizens.
Compassionate leaders don’t gloat, Mr. President.
Abortion Rights: I’m pro-life.
The PATRIOT Act: Not so patriotic. Probably invades first through sizth amendment rights.
The National Debt: Out of control. Thank you, Bush.
The War In Iraq: Did congress actually declare war? I’m not sure. The news about it is too depressing.
Racism: Pointless and detrimental.
Classism:Also pointless and detrimental.
Animal Testing: Has its ups and downs. For makeup and other products, NO WAY. For something that can majorly improve the health of many others, well, we are the dominant species.
Historical Accuracy: Is impossible to attain.
The Gospel Of Judas
Speaking of abortion rights, I think that it’s completely unfair to the father that having an abortion is solely the woman’s choice. It’s his kid, too; though if the father was a rapist, he probably can’t be found….either way, let the kid live!
hot topic
oh yea
my mom comes hame 2morrow
my play is on May 31 and June 1
Bush stinks
*shell be back later. she needs to think of more things to type*
Abortion Rights : Pro-choice, though I don’t really support abortion itself. You can’t take a woman’s rights as a person away just because you disagree with it. We’ve gone over this before, and I really don’t want to again.
The PATRIOT Act: I laugh. And cry.
The National Debt: In the billions now, isn;t it? Or was that trillions?
The War In Iraq: Stupid idea in the first place really, but we broke it, we buy it. I like saying that now.
Racism: Idiotic.
Classism- -see above-
Animal Testing: No, this is never okay. Is organ harvesting while you sleep okay if it helps someone? No. It’s not.
Historical Accuracy: Iffy.
I honestly feel bad for Bush. I really do ( and I’m not saying this to incite anyone or whatevver) think he’s dim witted. And as such I can’t help but feel bad, because he doesn’t know what he’s doing.
10-Are we?
Beware…the butterflies are about to take over the world!
We must stop them!!!
lol jk. Moment of randomness.
I’ve already commented on most of those topics…
Today in history we had an interesting debate about military intervention. One person in the class thought we should have gone to Iraq, about half the class thinks we should just leave right now. I think they really need our help, and we can’t just leave them like that. However, i don’t see that it has to be the military that stays in there.
And i won’t get into too much bush-bashing…yet. I will however just point out that there are SO many examples of this type of thing in history…Bush needs to start learning from our mistakes in the past, as well as his own mistakes he’s making right now.
Yeah. Anyway. We’re debating again tomorrow so i might have more…
Oh but also there was a very interesting point concerning public opinion…about how the public has a responsibility to find the truth and all…but somebody (might’ve been kim) mentioned how of people just don’t care. So true. I mean, sometimes i think i’m underinformed, and should keep track of the news better…but then i look around and a lot of people are absolutely clueless. If we want to have a democracy and have it work, we have to do our part too. So many people just vote democrat or republican. Ergh.
And then there was a bit on who gives us this information, and how much the gov. controls the news and should control our info and suchlike…this went on for a while. Anyway.
The national debt has been out of control for ages, i don’t know if that’s specifically bush’s fault or not…he might’ve made it worse, but then i think most presidents did.
Patriot act? Boo. *hisses at bush*
this is a long post. Oh well. i g2g bye.
#12 – I disagree….what if the kid was really young (like, 10 years old) and was raped? She wouldn’t be able to handle it…and (I don’t know if this is exactly true) she could die…
I hate oil companies. The DAY AFTER Katrina hit, the prices sky-rocketed. THE SAME OIL WAS STILL IN THE TANKS
I saw a comic that had this woman buying deodorant. The saleslady was telling her: “If you cram enough of this in your eyes and leave it un-treated for a week, you could die. Thanks to animal testing, we know this.”
Abortion Rights : For it, though I don’t consider myself pro-choice
The PATRIOT Act: Don’t know much about it
The National Debt:Bad Stuffs
The War In Iraq: Stupid to go in there, but we need to finish off the job
Racism: Idiotic.
Classism- Stupid
Animal Testing: Is organ harvesting while you sleep okay if it helps someone?
Historical Accuracy: Oh, its accuarte, I’m pretty sure.
16-I think that’s biologically impossible for a human to have a kid at that age. Maybe i’m wrong…but it’s definitely not your average 10-year-old who could. Don’t think that’s much of an issue. (Besides child molestation obviously. But i mean in terms of abortion)
continuuuuuuuing…
Abortion rights-Gotta have a reason. But yes, for it. Pro-choice. Although i don’t think i personally would ever have an abortion.
Racism/Classism-What to say? Idiotic, yes. Implicit? Maybe. A problem? Definitely. Are people able to control it? Yes. Absolutely. And we should all try individually not to discriminate. Unfortunately, there’s always people who don’t want to…
Animal testing-Booooooo. Ok, i eat animals. Sure. Scientific tests on them? Well…ok. Maybe. Considering. Testing products on them though is not right. Unless you’re almost absolutely sure it won’t hurt them…and by almost absolutely i mean almost absolutely
Historical Accuracy-What’s the debate about this?
10: No. Congress never officially declared war on Iraq. The Wiki article on the Iraq War is really good (at least it was last time we checked).
Here’s my philosophy: There is no such thing as an under-control war. War is, by nature, unpredictable, chaotic, and
incredibly damaging and harmful. You can’t have a clean war, you can’t have a war that follows it’s original agenda. This is because it’s so unstable- it’s affected by jillions of factors, like human passion, forces of nature, not just who’s got the biggest guns and most bombs. There fore, a war is virtually never worth fighting, because it will almost always do as much damage the thing that caused it to be fought in the first place. I said virtually because I realize that there are acceptions. However, the Iraq War is not one of them.
And one more thing that bugs me: You hear a lot about the number of American casualties, but almost nothing about the Iraqi ones. And is you do hear about the Iraqi ones, it’s the number or Iraqi civilians, not the soldiers. Does the fact that they’re not on our side make it any less horrible that they’ve died? Does it mean that they’re any less human?
Oh, its biologically possible for a kid to get pregnant at *, depending on the kid.
But, anyways, the Bush Twins. Aaaaaah… nooo… too innapropriate.
16- Well, she already had 10 years to live! What about the child? It was alive… Hopefullly she’d have the sense to get those morning-after pills…
But, yes, I believe that potentially helpful inventions should onlyl be tested on animals if they work theoretically.
I think people should stop cutting off abortion as just a women’s issue. I mean, it would be the father’s child, too. And OK, if it’s rape, he’s out. But if the father wants the child and is willing to support it and/or the mother, he shouldn’t have to go along with what the woman wants to do.
16-If the woman is in mortal danger (die or abort), the abortion would be necessary for medical reasons.
19-Animal testing may induce some rodent casualties. OK. Do you know how many people are saved by this? On estimate, roughly 2.5 million. So it’s bad to test a new medicine on a dumb animal so it doesn’t kill humans, but it isn’t bad to kill the same animal if you find it in your house? What?
Abortion rights…That ties into stem cells right? And pro-lifers are chistans *rolls eyes* sorry, i haven’t debated on this since, like, 03
19 – I think it is possible…
Are you rolling your eyes at me?! Well take this *rollrollroll* I’d say I’m pro-life. I think the “pro-choice” opinion is rather mis-named. If you ask me, the girl had the ‘choice’ when she was with the guy. It’s not like it was unavoidable. In cases of rape, I’d say she could still put the kid up for adoption. If she’s going to die, then I guess abortion would be the thing to do. But if some girl just wants to run around having unprotected sex, then that’s her problem, not the kid’s. Hmm. Animal testing. Well, as someone who gets upset just becuase a wasp is starving to death whilst trapped in the lamp, I say, if it’s for a ‘good cause’ (to cure/treat disease or something like that) , then go ahead. But if it’s just for some make-up or shampoo, I don’t know. That seems wasteful. Oh, and to put that earlier statement more into perspective, I’m afraid of wasps. But then again, I don’t really care for make-up or shampoo (thanks to Mrs. Spector! Frizz-B-Gone!). Did anybody read that one Zits comic where Jeremy used his mother’s shampoo and it made his hair like hers? Then he was talking to Pierce and Pierce says something like: “Oh, I don’t have that problem. I clean my hair in a much more traditional way. I go down to the river and bang my head with rocks.” That’s kind of how I feel. Except the river is polluted, too close to the railroad, and probably at least 5 miles away.
I agreed with the random and unprotected sex theory, that if they do that and they get pregnant then, well, what did they expect? However, I know a couple of really young girls who recently had babies in circumstances like that and I have to say, it seems it would be almost better for the baby not to be there. In one case, the mother didn’t accept that she was pregnant, didn’t see a doctor till she was 8 months, didn’t tell her family, didn’t stop smoking or drinking and didn’t research anything about having a child or buy anything for it or anything. The father of the baby is in trouble with the police and a convicted drug possesor. When she ended up having him it was a really difficult birth and both of them nearly died. I really dread to think that if she abused her baby like that before he was even born what his life will be like. Another girl I knew became pregnant and didn’t know who the father was. When her baby was born they discovered that it was severley brain damaged. She’s finding it really difficult to cope with this. She has no money and is living with her parents. I just wonder if perhaps it would’ve been better for both children had they not been born.
l agree with lauren. abortion and birth control are very important. a person is not really a person until the are born, anyway. unprotected sex is part of life, get over it. sex is to heavily romanticized. Christians think too much about goals and not enough about people.
I beg to differ Em, I think a person is a person no matter if they are born or not. However, I can sort of see why you would have that opinion. Thank you for stereotying me, by the way. On Lauren’s stories: I must reiterate what I said before. If someone is not ready to have a baby, then they shouldn’t have a baby. That seems obvious to me. It’s not like these babies are just popping up out of nowhere. Again, in cases of rape or any other situation where one finds oneself with a baby and is not ready for it or is unable to care for it, they should put it up for adoption. I’m not saying people should just be flinging babies into orphanages left and right; a human’s life is at stake. But they should try to find the best care for it as is possible, be it with themselves or another.
19- It is most certainly possible for a girl to become pregnant at that age. Earlier as well, if I’m not mistaken.
I don’t know how I can explain how I feel about animal testing- I suppose it’s similar to how MG feels ( or felt, last I heard) about abortion. Do you realize the give pregnant mice/rodents MARIJUANA and other various addictive things just to see how it reacts? IT’S OBVIOUSLY BAD. We don’t need to freaking shove drugs into an animal to figure that out.
On abortion. I think if the girl is totally in understanding of what she’s doing, fine. Bur rape is rape, and no one should have to have a child through something like that.
The kid would end up messed, in most cases, knowing what it was a product of. I really could go on. I do not encourage abortion, as I said, but outlawing it is wrong in a deeper sense.
There’s always going to be a need for it, right? So if it was outlawed, it would go underground. There’s no doubt. And then we’d get a spike in young female deaths.
here in australia it is outlawed in some parts and theres a thriving illegal market apparently. also we have waiting lists a MILE long for people wanting to adopt and most people are over the age limit by the time a baby is there. we also have lots of children being abused and neglected by parents that don’t want them but most of them do want the extra money they receive from the government to have the children. needless to say its really not working and very sad…
#8 how true. and anne coulter sucks. i quote , “we should go into their countrys kill all the leaders and convert them to christianity”
and this country believes in religious freedom? i dont beleive it. and weve got a president who believes that god gave him the power to
rulehave presidential power. maybe his doing this out of a sense of religious duty, like the crusades. they were fighting against muslims then to. the us is being cruel to muslims, and it isnt a new thing. many of the african slaves were muslims, but when they were taken here they were given a new religion, new name , everything!… because they werent allowed to be heathens. they couldnt even do it in secret. it doesnt help that most americans are predjidiced against muslims. take the Arab Muslim/ Other IAT if you dont believe me. and all those terrorists screaming for americans blood dont seem to realize that there are several muslims living in the US. and that makes life harder for people like me. by the time bush is done in office, america will be in a total mess. if he bombs iran, the UN would be quite within its rights to impose sanctions on the us. i hope bush isnt that stupid but with him you cant tell . even if we dont, we could be in the middle of another great depression. it comes down that bush is abusing his rights and should be impeached. he went into iraq for cheaper oil. its just getting more expensive.the countrys a mess
thank you for reading my rant
I am morally opposed to abortion in certain cases, however, if the child is not going to be able to be cared for properly by the mother, ios going to be severly disabled, or the motherts life is at risk, I say do it. However, if the mother has kids already and is able to take good care of the baby, then abortion is a potential life wasted.
Judiasm teaches that fetuses are potential life, rather than life.
Pro-lifers unite! Putting your kid up for adoption is always an option!
I give up…i can’t win…but i 100% aggree with post 34.
#28 – agreed.
It is just a CELL it isn’t really a person yet. If the child who couldn’t get an abortion dies giving birth to the child, there will be lots of people grieving, she had a whole life to live..
32- The US did that to the Native Americans, too. Many times over. Remember the Trail of Tears? Completely horrid.
if a girl was raped, than i think it’s right to get an abortian, but if the girl just wasn’t cautious enough and got pregnant, than it’s her fault and she shouldn’t kill her baby…
(26) What if the woman was raped and didn’t have enough income to raise a child well? I heard about a woman whose mother tried to abort her when she was a baby because abortion clinics were illegal. Now she’s in a wheelchair and most of her body is paralysed.
I also agree with #34.
26-Um, Moosey? Foster care doesn’t work. Not like that.
32-Sanctions. Scary, scary thought. *shudders* I hope Barack Obama makes it sometime soon.
40-The reason abortion should be legal-so women don’t have to resort to blackmarket, under the table, dangerous solutions.
Abortion: Abortion is occasionally the only feasible course of action. For example:
Proven rape- It isn’t her fault! She should not have to give birth to a criminal’s child. Pregnancy causes much pain. She shouldn’t have to carry the baby, KNOWING that half of its genes are from some of the lowest scum imaginable.
Probable death for mother- It’s a life for a life. It’s the mother’s call. This should not be outlawed!
Lack of funds- Okay, this time it’s the woman’s fault. Adoption is the way to go.
Teenage pregnancy- The girl’s a total idiot in the common-sense area, but an abortion should be the way to go if that’s what she wants. Not speaking from personal experience, but do you have any idea how much… stupidity she would get from everybody around her? She needs an education, too, and think how much pregnancy… and, later, a child… would interfere?
Those are my opinions. Thank you.
Animal testing- I’m sorry, but just because “we are the dominant species” does not mean that we have the right to mess with lab rats. What if there were an even more intelligent species out there that came and did the same to us?
Gospel of Judas- It exists. It is as legitimate as the Gospels in the Scripture. The organized Church didn’t like the message and called it heresy. This is the stuff that wars are made of, so live with it. It’s true. No need to cause more splitting of the Christian Church over this, right?
Abortion issues, I completely agree with #34 and #42
Why, thanks. I’m glad to see by looking through the page that I’m not quite as outspoken as I tought. Among Musers, at least. Which says little about the whole world, because we tend to (no offense) be the young and insane portion. But that’s what makes it fun!
Adoption, people. But I do see your point.
43- There are many many many other Gospels, and Hebrew/Christian writings. The Organized Church, baack in the day, made a list called the”Canon,” meaning the books they considered to be divinely inspired. That is now the Bible. It’s disgusting how so many of the Dead Sea Scrolls are still unpublished. Heh, wars. Mainly caused by greed and morals. Ironic, eh?
Why can’t I pound this into your cozy little pink-seeing heads? PEOPLE DON’T ADOPT OR GET ADOPTED. You’re better off dead than in the US foster care system. Sorry, but it’s true. Most of those foster kids wind up abused, neglected, and abandoned. They aren’t the cute little orphans in fantasy books. Gomen.
Christianity gets too much attention already. What about we excavate something interesting?
I knew a foster kid. He died in some weird accident in his foster parents’ shed.
Heres a non poltical but still handle with care topic….
I got a fourtune cookie: True Love is Found Only in the Heart. I got this after getting “Now would be a good time to pursue that love intrest” twice. I wonder whats going to happen….
Exactly Queenie. Adoption isn’t the booming industry we seem to want it to be.
As for teenage pregnancy, I really think that the girl should have to have that childe if she was totally for the sex in the first place, but you cannot take away someone’s rights to choose as a person.
Listen. You can’t feel as a fetus. Anyone have memories of living in your mother’s womb? No? Didn’t think so.
I saw the National Geographic program on the Gospel of Judas- frankly, the whole idea that things were omitted at all bothers me. Forgive me if this sounds odd, but if you think about it, why would Judas hang himself if he was so against Christ? Is it that hard to see the guilt? The whole idea of him being such a bad person is entirely contradictory- Christians celebrate the Christ died for us, yet villanize Judas, who really fulfilled what Jesus already knew was going to happen.
Of course, I don’t read the Bible as much as I should, ( being the type of Catholic who really doesn’t know very much xD ) so perhaps I’m misinformed.
they discovered a new gospel in egypt a week or two ago. it was by Judas, or at least, a translation of what he wrote. it claimed that he was first among the disciples and turned jesus in so that jesus would be reincarnated. apparently the church left that one oout.
I gots a new cd! Its called Butterfly Flutterby. Heres one of the songs from it.
A Beautiful Book
The tree
That wanted to be
A beautiful book
It would die
If that’s what it took…aahhh
The sand
That went to see
So much more
Help the blind
Find what they were looking for..aahhh
The bird
Who could sing
A soothing tune
To wake the dead and let life back in…aahhh
Well everything’s
Full of dreams for one thing…woo hooo and everything’s
Full of dreams for reasons…woo hoo
In the shade
Of the woods
Sat a bear
Who wanted to be
A poets coat… aahhh
Another tree
Who wanted to be
A sturdy boat
On the gentle sea…aahhh
Well everything’s
Full of derams for one thing…woo hoo
And everything’s
Full of dreams for reasons…woo hoo Everything’s
Full of dreams
There was a book that took the world by storm a writer’s sight found and written down
A fur coat…a sturdy boat… a sprouting shoot… a sprouting soul… and still the quill… goes on and on…and still
The quill goes on and ooooooooooon
Well everything’s
Full of dreams for one thing…woo hoo
And everything’s
Full of dreams for reasons…woo hoo
And everything’s
Full of dreams for one thing Woo Hoo…
So keep dreaming

Abortion: I think it’s the individual’s decision, but people who don’t want to become pregnant should try harder not to.
Animal testing is REALLY BAD
The national debt is apalling, bush- ok, i won’t even GO there.
Partriot Act: a gross infringement of our rights, and yet they call us a free country… *feeble laughter*
The War in Iraq: a HUGE mistake; we never should have started it. problem is, we can’t exactly say “sorry guys, we finally realized what a huge catastrophe we’ve caused. Anyways, we’ll leave you to clean it up. Bye now!”
Racism/Classism: Why? if you think about it, we’re all the same.
I dislike the use of the word fur as a “Appealing to the senses” or whatever in that song, but otherwise it seems nice.
Fortune cookies are made my odd Americans who think they know about Chinese culture, but don’t.
The Gospel of Judas concepts make sense to me at least. It’s all very interesting.
Jadestone,
By Butterfly Boucher! I saw her perform in a coffee house last year and tried to tell Musers about her on the Gaboomba. She’s amazing!
51: Yes, That is what got this whole discussion about Judas and the Bible going. I threw it out there because it seemed intersting. I don’t exactly have an opinion on it it; I don’t know very much about it, and I’m not Christian.
That was a beautifull poem, Jadestone! I should go buy that book. Post some more on the Poems and Songs Thread!.
Abortion: It’s the person’s choice. Illegalising it would just lead to harmful underground abortions.
From Yahoo News-
Bush urged lawmakers to expand tax breaks for the purchase of fuel-efficient hybrid automobiles, a politically popular measure that’s also supported by environmentalists. He also directed the Environmental Protection Agency to use its authority to temporarily waive air quality laws in states if that would relieve a local gasoline supply shortage.
I cannot believe this.
Does anyone else find this infuriating? The man is an idiot. I’m sorry, but he is. I have no idea how it would even help. But waiving laws is stupid within itself.
-long sigh-
53:, 10: I am adamantly pro-choice. For one thing, the bush position leaves no room to protect a woman’s health, only her life. Also, the people who get abortions are mainly victims of rape or thier children are already dead in the womb. And the whole thing about parental consent for pregnant teenagers: what if the teen is a victim of incestual rape? If we outlaw abortion, we will see a huge increase in deaths in teenage girls who were so desparate they tried to do it themselves or paid a non licensed worker to do it for them.
The solution is that there is no solution. The sides are too thickly entrenched in their own beliefs. There are too many possibilites. I’d say I’m…pro-circumstance. Yes that’s it. I see abortion as something that should be a last resort, and honestly, not for the tramps who pal around with the type who’d get them pregnant. They asked for it.
Don’t you think it’s agonizing for the mother? The decsion, not to mention the actual process, which was explained to me in detail.
Yes it is the father’s responsibility too, but unless he bears that child, it really comes down to the mother.
Again, it’s all circumstantial
See, Axa, that’s the stereotype. Everybody thinks that the only people who get abortions are tramps and prostitutes. But most actually arent (my family are all very democratic…we talk about this stuff over dinner)
46- Yep, that’s exactly what I was referring to. Sorry if I confused those of you who didn’t know…
And, actually, sometimes the wierdness and total unhelpfulness of foster care beats what some kids get at home… Seriously, one of my friends is having MAJOR trouble at home and has gone to court on grounds of child abuse more than once.
I feel the need to quote wise old Gandalf here. “Many who live deserve death. Some who die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too quick to deal out death in judgement, for even the very wise cannot see all ends.” I probably didn’t get that quite right, but close enough. So abortion isn’t exactly ‘judgement’ per se, at least, not for a crime. But you don’t know what someone will do with their life until they’ve lived it. The world would probably be better off if some of its inhabitants were never born. However, it would also be a lot worse off with out some of them. Say, MLK jr. What would have happened if he had never been born? Just becuase it looks like someone is going to have a rough life, it doesn’t mean they should be put out of their misery. When someone kills a born human, it’s called murder, and when a human kills themselves, it’s called suicide, but suddenly if he’s/she’s not born it’s okay? My art teacher grew up drinking beer and fighting with a alchoholic, abusive, father. He’s one of the nicest, most enthusiastic people i know. My old baby-sitter has had three foster children that she took care of temporarily and they did just fine. I’m saying that these two example prove that it’s all right, it’s just not impossible is all. 40. As previously stated, she should put the kid up for adoption. There is no perfect solution becuase rapes can result in unwanted pregnencies that are not avoidable. Sure the kid will have a rough time of it, coming to terms with the fact that his real parent(s) did not want him and that he is the result of a heartless criminal’s actions, but at least his mother cared enough to try and find him a better position. *Sigh* Now i feel like singing worldwide suicide. *sings* It’s a shame to awake, world aflame. What does it mean when the war has taken over? It’s the same every day in a hell man-made, tell you to pray, while the devil’s on their shoulder. The whole world, world over, it’s a worldwide suicide.
58- If they’re already dead in the womb, would it count as an abortion? Anyway, partial-birth abortions are, in my opinion, completely pointless. If you’re going to “partially” have the baby, why not just let it live?
60- Lucky. I think there are, um, five? non-Republicans in my family. It’s really quite annoying.
what is the exact process of an abortion? Do they give you powerful meds or a shot or something?
There are three methods of abortion: mechanical, chemical, and one other one I know nothing about.
Mechanical abortion is literally removing the fetus. Manually. Bloody, slightly queasy, a major operation, and featured on more protest signs than I can count. Chemical abortion, which is much more discreet, involves a process of giving the mother shots that will eventually slow the baby’s growth, cut off its food supply, and kill it. And the third method isn’t used as often. I forget what it is, but I have no doubt you can find the information on your PSE.
Let me tell you something, people. A) the father deserves a say in the matter as well-if he wants the kid, he should take responsibility for it, B) More under-the-table abortions go on than you or I would like to know about, and sometimes the father is someone you would totally not expect to be sleeping with the mother, and C) Most people, and most teens, are totally unsuited for parenting. By permitting abortions, you slow population growth and the birth of unwanted children, make women who want abortions safer, help the lives of many teenagers who would ruin their chances for success by having a child, and D) make the right decision and give people control over their reproductive systems, lives, and families.
I suppose no one cares about my forutune cookie?
Another thing: A popular philosophy of pro-lifers is that life begins at conception. Medically, this is simply not true. life begins when the fetus has a heartbeat. Until then, it is simply a ball of cells. And nothing should belong more to a woman than her own cells.
What seems really pointless to me is when pharmacists refuse to dispense the morning after pill WHEN THE PERSON SEEKING IT HAS A PERSCRIPTION, because of thier religious beliefs. If your beliefs will not let you do your job, then you probably should not be doing that job. Free Practice of religion? Yes. Important. But it is also stated that there is a catch there: except for in cases of public danger. The dispensing pharmacist has no idea what the medical background of the person they are helping is, and how it may or may not be imperative for them to get that pill.
Sorry. You think that was a bad rant? don’t get me started on the Iraq War.
with abortion, there’s also the problem that if we make it legal, ESPECIALLY if we allow minors to get abortions without informing their parents, they’ll be more unprotected sex and more abortions (on the other hand Otzi has a point about a rise in the death rate of teenage girls)… although i do agree completely with Queenie, there are to many unwanted children and too many people in the world already.
NEW HOT TOPIC: GAY RIGHTS?
personally i’m totally for same-sex marriages, homosexuals deserve the same righte as the rest of us.
I’m a little late on this blog, so I don’t know what’s going on. But global warming is a BIG issue
I know a lot of people back up their denial of gay rights because the Bible condemns them. If we truly have separation of church and state, which would mean nothing to attack on Saturday nights and the futile pursuit of happiness goes on unabated and unchecked, the Bible would have no influence on laws or government. So really, the Leviticus argument trips on its face right there and lies, crying, in the road.
Gays are a group of citizens. They fall under the ‘creed’ category. So they get rights. And equality. Done.
I don’t really think that gay marriage is right, but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t have equality and respect for their practices. It’s like freedom of religion. Sort of. Okay, I’m backing out of this issue. We’ve already beaten it to death two times, so I think I’ll pass on the third round. But for the rest of you, let the debate begin! *Ding, ding, ding!*
40-The reason abortion should be legal-so women don’t have to resort to blackmarket, under the table, dangerous solutions
this is like saying that we should make marajuna and murder and burglary and every other crime legal “so women [criminals] [no I AM NOT comparing women to crminals] don’t have to resort to blackmarket, under the table, dangerous solutions [for commiting thier crime]”
40-The reason abortion should be legal-so women don’t have to resort to blackmarket,
under the table, dangerous solutions.
that’s like saying murder, theft, and every other crime should be legalized “so women [illegal drugg sellers] don’t have to resort to blackmarket, under the table, dangerous solutions [to sell thier product].”
no I’m not comparing women to crminals.
My mom was telling me about this…what if a girl’s father rapes her? And he doesn’t want her to get an abortion, but she has to have her parents permission? I think that is one of the catches in the yoou-need-to-ask-your-paarents-to-get-an-abortion thing.
That law about how parents control minors is absolutely absurd.
I keep on getting weird horoscopes, fourtune cookies, and dreams.
Last night I dreamed that I was being welcomed by my peers back into school. Nirmal sounding, right?
Well, ladter in the dream, I found one of my classmates lying dead with a cup of poison next to him. He was really sleeping, but I didn’t know this. So I took the poison and took a sip, and lay dead. So then he woke up, saw me dead, swalled the poison, and lay dead.
Then I woke up.
Sounds familiar, no?
Is anyone else totally sick of the EU attacking the US for being in debt when they’re up to their ears in debt too? Look at France. Right now debt there is 66% of GDP and expected to get to 100% by 2014. I really wish there were less culturally incriminating issues in the world to feel guilty about. Unfortunately, there’s no shortage.
(78) Tell me about it.
77 Romeo and Juliet, eh?
Embarrasingly, yes.
Well, I mean… this is a hot topic, depending on your defination of “Hot Topic”. Should I move it to the random thread? I shall I suggest the GAPA make a new thread to discuss the lovelives of Musers?
why are gay marriages any different that straight marriages?
except from a religous point of view, their isn’t anydifference xcept theirs no chance of children in gay marriagas. with lesbian marriges though you can get donated sperm. The fact that gay marriages are not legal everywhere is a sign that religion is interfereing in law.
i just spent like around an hourish complaining about the world in general and society in particular. D’you realize that there is not a single person with out some biases towrds fellow humans (myself included, but at least i don’t go around making everyone else miserable)
84: cotton agrees. just take an IAT.
I have biases towards abled people. Whenever I see a group of normal people, without any syndromes or disorders, I say “Here comes the freak show”,
No one is normal, because if they were, they’d be really weird. I look normal, but I’m allergic to just about all “package foods” and I have _______phobia. (I never tell anyone any more, because once someone tried to use it against me)
Everyone’s a hypocrite. exept me.
Well, the first part’s true if you really think about it. The second part is just to wake people up.
I call them the freak show because of all the body peircing and weird hairstyles emotionally abled people have. Note I said “Emotionally” and not “Mentally”. There are more types of dissabilites than just physical and mental. Now if only people understood that…..
my friend had a phobia of ballons
Let’s have a really silly Hot Topic, like the Bermuda Triangle or something.
Or not. Whichever you people prefer…
89-do you mean emotionally disabled?
Because i’m very much emotionally abled and i have no piercings or weird hairstyles.
Far too much generalization there.
Yeti!
I believe there are Bigfoots and Yetis out there.
The Bermuda Triangle….
some boys in my class are obsessed with that
Hot Topics is for hot topics, not random objects. Take that to any of the various and available random threads.
People use the excuse that God hates gay people in the same way that they said slavery was backed by the Bible. In the end, it’s really pathetic how you take a message of goodness, bend it, twist it, and then jumo on it once or twice, then proclaiming that you are, in fact, living God’s word.
People wrote the Bible, not God.
Gay rights should not even be a question. 69, there is no question mark there.
church is merging with state, as has been said. But hey, *takes on Bush voice* We’ve alrady thrown owt amendments 1-50, why not do ’em all???
Secret Service Person: Um, sir? there aren’t 50.
Bush: So?
personally i agree with you Otzi, btu not everyone does.
(96) I agree. The government shoud be spending it’s time figuring out something that actually is debatable. Arguing about gay rights is like arguing about black rights, or women’s rights. It’s a given. Everyones a person, all people have equal rights. Done. Doesn’t need to be debated. Lets do something progressive, for a change.
Exactly. It just bothers me how people use the ” God told me to hate you” excuse.
exactly
Undoubtedly. I was at the National Basilica in DC yesterday. I really hope it wasn’t paid for with government funds…
(96) I agree. People place too much wait on the bible.
(98) People opposed to gay marrage do seem to base it on religeon pretty often. Whenever I ask someone what’s wrong with being gay, they either say something about religeon, bring up the deffinitoin of marrage or call me lesbian. When it’s the last one, it’s really funny to see what they do when you don’t react.
95- Applause.
One day people are going to look back on this in the same way we look back on the civil rights movement, and look people who oppose gay rights, and think, “how could they have been so intolerant?”. Once again, we have failed to learn the lessons of history.
gay rights! yes! why not? i agree w/all you peoples, especially 95, 98, and 102. i’m typing w/1 hand so excuse shortness of post
NEW HOT TOPICS: ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
and
DARFUR
Illegal Immigration: If the gov’t grants amnesty to them, it will be an insult to all of the legal immigrants. If it admits them into a guest worker program, well, just look at what happened to the guest workers from Nicaragua.
Darfur: Horrible, but what’s a protest in DC going to do? Create another war we’ll all regret and deny supporting? Genocide is completely idiotic, though!
Um… what happened to guest workers from Nicaragua? I haven’t heard about this…
our country is so hypocritical. we go into Iraq and Afghanistan and totally screw with them, on the pretext of helping them set up a democracy, then we say we can’t be the police of the world and do nothing to help stop the Darfur genocide. i was reading this thing about a family from Darfur in a refugee camp in Chad, and 61% of the people there had witnessed the killing of a/some family member(s). maybe it wouldd be a good idea to send funds to the AU, because then it would help them solve their own problems, but they would feel like
a) we totally wrecked their country and it would have been better if we’d stayed out
or
b) they’re recipients of charity
My sister just organized a rally for Darfur awareness. It’s sad how many people have never even heard of it.
Immigration- thats a big one, especially where I live, by the border. I think we need to stop shutting down the borders so tightly, because it just leads to illegal crossing in which lots of people die from heat exhaustion and dehydration. I think amnesty for immigrants is a good thing. There are problems with it,yes, but America shouldnt be a fortress. It;s a difficult problem, there are so many factors to think about.
alot of the people who come across the border are poorly educated and trying to fill the same niches as high-school drop-outs, which is kind of a problem because there aren’t enough jobs there. also, though, they are often times migrant or farm workers, which most americams would never even consider being but is an important job. there were alot of stikes today where i live and SO many stores were shut down, because they employ hispanic people who were, of course on strike. it’s also sad, because alot of times the people here are just part of a family, who came here to find work with the plan of sending for the rest of their family once they got a job, but if we close the border then those other halfs of the families will never get through.
I believe that being gay is n’t right. I have nothing against the people. first of all, if you seperate gavermant and religion, how does the government know what to do, or what is right? the answer: it won’t. you’ll have people saying,” i believe that i can muder this person. He or she was interfering with my rights.” Secondly, men and women love each other in different ways. They ARE different. And so whern a man loves a man, or that a woman loves a woman, they can’t love each other in the same way that a man and a woman can. Also, i belive that sex outside of marrage is wrong. I have a long and complicated explanation, but the gist of it is that the first purpose of marrage is children, that god intended that kids be the fruit of love. so when you seperate children and sex sex turns from loving giving of self into more selfish pesual of pleasure. I’m a Catholic.
my sister has a enviromental congress class and she asked that i posted this on here. make sure everyone is aware of air pollution and that we need to stop it.
WANT TO HELP FIGHT AIR POLLUTION AND SAVE MONEY ON GAS?
Don’t drive your car!
May 17th is “Don’t Drive Day” sponsered by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency. People are encouraged to carpool, walk or bike, use public transportation, or simply cancel everything and stay home. Now, one day a year may not sound like much, but if you can get in the habit of leaving your car at home ONE DAY A MONTH we can make a difference. If only one percent of Americans did this, we’de save millions of gallons of gasoline. For more information, visit http://www.noaca.org
Please, guys, this is such a little thing to ask but it can make such a difference! NO DRIVING MAY 17th!!
(hay, GAPA, can you put that on the callendar?)
THANX EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Theres one problem with that: What religion is the government based on? If you base it on catholosissm, its not fair to jews, muslims, wiccans, pagans, buhddists, and allt he other religons in america.
If you based it on judiasm and outlaw pork, well, what are pork farmers going to do (that was a joke)
i think gay people are as capable of love as any straight person, and i don’t believe the love between two gays is different than the love between a man and a woman.
108- There was a bill passed to let them stay through the guest worker program in 1999, and it has been extended 5 times; they’re still here, but not citizens.
GAY RIGHTS! Mirjana, letting people have full legal martial status no matter if they are straight, gay, lesbian, or bi, is a long way off from letting people kill eachother because they felt their rights were violated. It’s about love, not war/murder.
115; oh, i see. that’s really sad… thanks for enlightening me
also i totally agree about gay rights. and Copper/Erato is right. we can’t have merging of church/synagouge/mosqe/temple/shrine unless everyone has the same religion, and that’s probably not going to happen any time soon.
right! i agree with you Mel.
(111) Being different is wrong then, it seems. Hmm.
I’ll badger my mom about the car thing. Cars=no.
111: I live in a pretty liberal part of the country, and I have friends and teachers who are openly gay. While not gay, I think it is soley the person who is gay’s buisness and no one elses.
Also, many people against abortion cite dissapproval of extra marital sex as thier reason… this makes no account for rape or incest.
A message to pro lifers to think about:
If the fetus you saved turned out to be gay,
Would you still fight for its rights?
As I said before, the first purpose of marriage is CHILDREN. Kids deserve, and want, to have a mother and a father who love each other. And love is not liking someone, but wanting to obtain that person’s best good; love=charity. Deus Caritas Est. The special, permanent love that exists between a man and his wife just can’t be between two people of te same sex. Men love and therfore are loved, women are loved and therefore love; they’re different. Also, when a man marries a woman, there is an expectation of children, and protecting and supporting them and the wife untill death, which is impossible between two men or two women. People are not born gay either; even the gay rights people have stopped saying that. something happens. THE BIBLE DOES NOT SAY THAT GOD HATES GAYS, but that God hates the sin, and that homosexuality is a deep sin in His eyes. God never hates the sinner because he is all-merciful.
This is all I’m going to say. Not even if everybody disagrees am I going to change my opinion. It’s the truth. If you want more, Deus Caritas Est.
Nota Bene: the principles in the Constitution are universal, part of almost every religion. Although the Ten Commandments are in the Bilble, They’re pretty ( I said pretty) universal too, if you believe that whatever you worship is true.
I’m straight. I may get married, but I DO NOT want kids.
Oh, and one problem with your arguement: SEPERATION OF RELIGION AND STATE. I will flee the country if we turn into even more of a theocracy.
Anyway, that reminds me of one of our chorus songs. Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est. Very cool melody.
122- i agree with you. marraige is about emotions. if the emotions exist between people of the same gender, thats their business.
I love Ubi Caritas! It is such a pretty song!
does your version go:
do re mi sol sol, do re mi mi, re me fa la la, do re mi mi
Who cares? If it’s what they feel, fine for them. It’s not me, so it’s none of my business.
I have a request. I’d like to know the EXACT quote(s)/place within the BIble that infer/state that homosexuality is wrong.
(120) I love you Otzi. I love you and the state of Washington.
121: I’ve read the bible cover to cover, and nowhere, NO WHERE does it say homosexuality is a sin. Against Gay Marraige? Don’t marry one.
If god is all-merciful (and please don’t anyone blow up because I spelled god without capitalization; I am protestant…)than he hates nothing, is merciful in his every action, even to action. Also, there is nothing that says how men and women love. If someone finds thier soulmate, they should be able to marry them.
I am straight, and if I fell in love and wanted to get married to the man of my dreams, I would be PISSED if no one would let me. however, 122, I cannot see why you don’t want kids. I plan to have some and adopt some. I want a HUGE family.
123- Exactly!
124- No, it goes: Deus ibi est over and over, with the sopranos starting at a high note and bases ending at a very low one.
127- Wow, really? I know all the books in order (long story…) but I haven’t read the whole thing through. Adoption, maybe; but I really don’t want any of my own. For some reason, I can’t stand young children. And I’m a huge germaphobe. I could never change a diaper…unless, of course, I had a biohazard suit….anyway….ok I forgot what I was going to say…
127- i don’t know what bible your reading because it says in Leviticus 18:22 “You shall not lie wiith a male as one lies with a woman- it is an abomination.”
But this is the bible. it only applies to those who believe in it. In america there is a concept callede “seperation of church and state” which means that the bible is not a good reason to outlaw anything.
in short, religious marriage should be governeed by the laws of the religion of the people getting married, but civil marriage should be between what ever people want to be together.
In that case, I’ll ask this: who said this? Is it percieved as the thoughts of God, or what someone thinks God thinks?
ooooooooooh! theology!
Ok, people. Lets start on Immigrant rights now.
Personally, I think that the massive illegal immigration into the USA going on right now is a very bad thing. I have no problem with a diverse America. If people want to immigrate, let them, but make sure they immigrate legally!!! Recently I went to an interesting debate about immigration between Victor Davis Hanson (a classicist) and an economics professor. This economics professor said that America should open its borders and allow anyone and everyone who wanted to come in just come in all at once, to which Mr. Handon replied that this is more or less what the Romans did, and it proved disastrous for them, which is true. We just studied it in Roman history this year: when foreigners were allowed to come in all at once, settle, work, and join the army, they began to reproduce rapidly as the native population declined, gradually beginning to replace the original inhabitants. Also, earlier in history, when too many foreigners were hired for cheaper wages it made the economy suffer because there were no longer enough jobs to support the original inhabitants. The similarities between these incidents and what’s happening now are frightening! I have no problem with immigrants, just not in such massive quantities as to overwhelm the original population.
*oops, I meant Mr. Hanson – the typo demons are at work here! :p
We shouldn’t out up a wall around our borders, I don’tt hink. We would harm the animals.
Not to mention the diseases (TB, Leprosy, etc.) they bring across the border.
135 good point
yeah, i vaugeley talked about this earlier, but anyways… i live in a part of the country where there’s a big hispanic population. i’m not sure you’re right about them taking all the jobs… alot of buisness owners don’t want to hire illegal immigrants, and also they take jobs most americans would never do like being farm laborers. also also, alot of people at my school said they didn’t like that alot of immigrants don’t speak english, which i though was really unfair because it isn’t like they can just say: ok, i can magically speak english. they hang around with other spanish speaking people, alot of them are illiterate which makes it WAY harde to learn a language, and they often can’t afford a television or anything where they would hear englics being spoken.
133: That is EXACTLY what happened in 1492. The white men came and reproduced like rats, crowding and persecuting American Indians. Who would have thought that the immigrants would one day want to control immigration. If the American Indians had treated us the way we are treating recent immigrants, columbus and his men, as well as the Mayflower, would have been decimated by sheer force of numbers. They also would have said, “You’re in America, speak Algonquian” or Taino, or Cherokee, or… There is no one “American Language”. Also, the difficulty of immigrating and attaining citizenship is enormous—85% of born citizens would fail the test, which includes having to speak nearly flawless English and having to know who wrote the constitution, what the stripes on the flag mean, etc. etc. It is MUCH eaisier to slip over the border. If we want people to immigrate legally, we are going to want to loosen up immigration laws, to let people into the “Land of the free”
111, Mirjana: OK, you can have your own opionion on all that, but I do have to say one thing. Seperating religion from government does not mean it wouldn’t know what to do. Ethics and morals don’t just exist in religion; they are universal beliefs of all people. People shouldn’t kill because it’s wrong, because it causes pain; some people also believe it is a sin because God forbids it. But ethics arent governed by religion. Im an atheist, and I still know what to do, whats right and wrong. I know it’s wrong to kill; I know it’s wrong to cause pain. I believe these things and will always follow my set of morals, even though I dont have a religion. The government should do the same, ie, do the right thing because it’s right, not because the majority of the people in the gov’t follow a certian religion and believe it’s what God wnats them to do.
113(Erato)- you forgot to mention people who dont have religion.
135(Erato)- We already have put up a wall/fence around our Mexico border. A lot of it at least. Which forces immagrants to go out into remote areas to cross, which means major heat stroke and dehydration for most. The fence also creates a tension and a block between on the border communities that have livede in peace for decades. Also, once the immagrants cross over, the fence keeps them from going gack. So it locks them in as well as out.
I thought i was the only athiest MBer.
Hm. I 100% aggree
By the way, my parents are augnustic (or something, it means undicided) and my brother’s cathlic. People say i’m athiest because my family is. They’re wrong.
You must mean agnostic, from the ancient Greek a- (without or not) + gnosis (knowledge). The Victorian scientist Thomas Henry Huxley invented the word to describe someone who either isn’t sure whether God exists, or doesn’t think it’s possible to know one way or the other.
I’m agnostic, with jewish blood. The only reason i’m not aithest is because I’m not hauling boulders.
i suppose i’m agnostic too… but i want to become buddhist. anyways… i agree with otzi. my friend’s parents immigrated from iran, where the were well educated, learned english and went to college. most people in mexico dont have that kind of opportunity. laso the more we tighten our borders, the more prople will die trying to get across. also, nancy, i agree with you about the fence also keeping people from going back to mexico. i said this before, but anyways, i know people who have some family here but the rest of their fammily is still in mexico, and they’re worried that if we close the borers they’ll never be able to see their family.
(144) well, obviously, atheists don’t believe that being one will make them have to haul boulders.
I once met a man who emmigrated from Mexico (legally, I saw his green card) to earn money so he could bring his family over. We all had an implicit bias, and assumed that he was mostly uneducated because he was Mexican and becuase he was earning money by doing yard work and things like that. Turns out he actually had a high level degree in mathematics from the Unversity of Mexico, but the US doesnt recognize it, so those were the best jobs he could get.
He was the only person Ive ever met who got the joke of my dogs name. (my dogs name is Euler, after a famous mathematician, but most people think it’s Oiler, after some sports team or something, coz thats what it sounds like)
143- I’ve read about him! Didn’t he coin the term in 1869?
I’m basically agnostic. But I don’t go around criticizing other religions.
It’s a bit odd, because I do enjoy religious art.
Ok, any type of art and music really, but gothic cathedrals are beautiful.
I had a chance to visit the temples in Egypt, but mi madre wouldn’t allow me to go…*cries*
OK, let me rephrase that; I’m not a slave.
I guess I’m agnostic too..in a way. I’m Quaker.
(139) Yes. We are all immigrants. I’ve always hated how Columbus was glorified for “discovering” the supposed New World. If people were there already, he basically invaded it, now didn’t he?
I wonder why we aren’t paying the same attention to the Canadian border, since everyone keeps saying the security is because of the possibility of terrorists.
well not as many canadians are dying to immigrate here, are they?
Nobody in Canada wants to come to America. we’re an evil empire (muahahahahaha!!)
I live near canada. My stepfather has family in canada. My grandparents own a 55 acre island in the canadian san juans. I could get dual citizenship because of it. I’m thinking I may want to.
Right now , America sucks. I went to a jobs thingie abouyt local women who have cool jobs, and it had a booth about West Point Military College and also one about the air force school. I feel like America is slowly getting worse and it needs the help of ALL it’s people, not just citizens, because if all of the people opposed to the Bush regime hop into canada and mexico, there will be no opposition to the agenda.
I really want to move to Canada. I wrote alist of 100 reasons why we should move to CAnada and gave it to my parents. they said no.
Eh?
everybody left!
(150) well, I guess it isn’t the same because Canada isn’t a third world country the way Mexico is. People aren’t crossing in illegally in order to find work from Canada, because they don’t need to. Also, it’s probably easier for them to get the papers, for the same reason- Canada, unlike Mexico, is a pretty well-developed and wealthy country. So there is just as much chance of a terrorist coming yes,but fewer people cross it illegally.
hmm. we need another interesting hot topic to discuss. ideas?
cape-cod wind farm?
sure
seems to me they should go ahead with it. We did some research about it in science, and nobody came up with any reasons not to which seemed really solid. and we REALLY need to use renewable, clean energy sources. we should have done everything we could to prevent global warming yesterday.
does anyone know the exact details of the Kyoto Protocol?
wow, i forgot that i had furst post on this.
Ok…while we’re waiting for a new hot topics thread, we can still post on this one!!
How about just your fave articlesl in Muse?
has anyone watched the world cup?
166-Yep. Is that a hot topic?
Yeah, some. I watched the second half of the Italy- US game last night. That was PAINFUL. By the end of it, both sides looked about ready to drop dead of exhaustion. That reff completely influenced the game by giving so many red cards. They tied though, so..
I also watched the Australia- Brazil game today. Ahh! I was so sad that the Aussies lost, though not very surprised. I’m half Aussie so I was cheergin for them.
I can’t wait for the US-Ghana game. I can’t decide who to root for. On one hand, I want to root for my home team, but on the other hand, I really want an African country to advance!
i agree about us-ghana. me and ny cousins watched the us-chech game… that was embarassing. we were just slaughtered. i also watched england v trinidad-tobago. that was fun.
168 – I watched the end of the US/Italy game, too!
Yes, the US-Czech game was… something that induced blushing.
Soccer is NOT a hot topic in nmy mind.
Lets dissucss: THE NBATIONAL DEBT!!!!
The governemnt is pedning way more than it has to on things liie NASA. We’re going intospcae, yet we’ve barely explored our own oceans. You’wonder why there never any bottom-of-the-ocean Sci-Fi books?
Yeah, Space may have minerals that can save livesl . But so could the ocean!
Found this out on on Daryl Cagle ( The NBC cartoonists) websstie: If you collect 10,00 for every time you blink, in your lifetime, you still wouldn’t have enough money to pay thenational debt.
Maybe there should be a seperate thread to post about soccer. Not that I play soccer.
I go on Daryl Cagle’s website for school assignments(evaluating political cartoons)!
We were just talking about soccer because nobody else had anything better to talk about…I’m glad we have more people here now..
i disagree, yeti, people all over the world are obsessivley following the world cup… but the national debt is pretty important too. maybe we should talk about them both.
if you ask me, the government is spending way too much on the war, and so even if they’re spending too much on things like NASA it’s sort of… less bad. also… maybe as another hot topic drilling in the artic?
“Everyone in the whole country could have free health care for the money people are spending on the failing war against drugs”
is this true? I’d definately believe it..
it’s certainly possible… our country’s pretty messed up.
did we already discuss drilling in the artic?
I don’t think we did. Lets.
DRILLING IN THE ARCTIC IS EVIL!! PEOPLE SHOULD RIDE THEIR BIKES INSTEAD OF USING CARS SO WE WON’T NEED AS MUCH OIL!
ok, I’m done.
i know! i read a national geographic article about it and it’s really bad. we should be trying to get people not to use so much oil instead of finding more sources of it!
Drilling in the arctic is evil. You are right. It would destroy the beautiful landscape and creatures. MUSERS AGAINST ALASKA OIL DRILLING!!!!!
Yes – I agree with 181.
