Hey! I got my May/June today! As far as the contest section in the back goes, I may have another answer for Luke J’s picture. It’s pretty small, but it looks a lot like some of the wierdo golf-ball radio antennae my dad (a computer engineer who worked with this stuff in a previous job) showed me in D.C. TODAY WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY ENTIRE MIDDLE SKOOL EXPERIENCE
My skool was having this “fine arts” day, so the Jazz Band kids got to miss all their classes and play for every single class. It was so much fun. We played each song 12 times- that’s 48 times in all! We had a bunch of long breaks in between performances, and since we were on the stage, we had free use of the MPR. So we played sprouts (which is like dodgeball) and knock out and mussed around. And we had an out long lunch and we ordered pizza and ate like pigs.
IT WAS SO ZARKING AWESOME!
This just one of the many reasons why skools need give more time for the arts.

Just wondering, have any of you seen the advertisement on ABC for the TV show/movie/whatever on bird flu? It’s some fictional thing. On the advertisement, bird flu has hit America, and at one point it says ’20 million people are dead’. They refer to it as a ‘show one step ahead of the headlines’. Are they trying to cause mass panic, by making people totally freak out about bird flu? It’s crazy. I mean if people aren’t already worried about it, this is really going to scare ’em. (My mom says that after that, they’ll probably make a show about the mass panic caused by this show.)
The entire population of boys in my class is obsessed with this thing called “zombo com.” They play it REALLY LOUD on the computer in homeroom. I agree, it’s kind of funny the first time, but after awhile, IT IS REALLY ANNOYING!! If anyone wants so see it, google “ZOMBO” and it is one of the first ones. Make sure you have your sound on….

April foolery! Yay! As long as we’re on Q&A questions, I have one. Normally I’m very careful with how loud things are. However, once a week I attend a church service where the speakers are so loud I can feel the beat vibrating in my chest – I don’t know how loud exactly, but the music is definitely louder than is good for my ears. If this is the only time I am exposed to harmfully loud sound, will it still damage my hearing? Sorry if I didn’t make the question very clear. I guess basically what I’m asking is if it my hearing will still be damaged if I’m only exposed to extremely loud noise once a week, not all the time.

i think anyone who ever plans on driving should read this.
yesterday, after my school let out, 5 kids were in a car heading home; the driver was “driving carelessly” according to witnesses; he was recklessly weaving around other cars on the road. suddenly, the driver lost control of the car, and collided with a semi. the semi flattened the small car. 3 of the kids were announced dead at the scene, two went to the hospital and are in good condition at this time. the 3 deceased were not yet 16.
this is what could happen if you drive recklessly.

I was at the National Basilica (sp?) yesterday with the chorus. Great fun. I took some pictures of the AMAZING mosaics and archetecture (sp?) and will probably make them look really cool in Photoshop shortly. It was HUGE. With high, domed ceilings and marble pillars and shrines to many different versions of Mary. We sang for the mass in the “Crypt Church.” Very good name. The ceilings were very high, but the whole room was dark and repressive. And freezing. But we left about 30 minutes late, and were rushed with everything. On the bus ride, I was quoting the HP movies with the other hugely obsessive PotterFreak. Great fun. I think I said that before…

Taiwan Hippo Fan, this is the Museblog. If it can be any longer, it will be. Done. I have finished my homework, but there’s an 3vil jazz piece I hate and am procrastinating on, my shoulders are as knotted and tied as a sailing rope, and I’m suffering from a chronic lack of Megatokyo, Warmth, and Penny Arcade comics.
Today my parents took me to a meat market. It’s called the “Chicago Live Poultry Store.” Literally, one goes in the back, selects a chicken, and the guys will kill it for you and cut it up the way you want it. Very cool. Also, there are these spongy things called cham-chams that I got-they’re literally spongy biscuits soaked in honey syrup, dyed appetizing colors, and sprinkled with coconut. Brilliant.

It may be “Nerdy” but, eveuntually, reading Muse will help us succed better in life. Muse came out with a Ben Franklin article right when I was supposed to be doing a project on him.
