  1. Yah, i think that’s good. There’re so menny now…although it is nice having your own special thread. :-( oh well, i vote monthly b-day thread where you list all+colors and we can say happy b-day to everybody. :D

  2. I say, do it if there are alot of birthdays in that month. Otherwise, its nice to have your own thread.

  3. I think there are definitely too many birthday threads. It’s just that it’s nice to have your own thread. Maybe we could post one birthday thread per week, or one every three people, so it would be more special, but not take over the blog.

  4. I agree. It’s nice to have your own special thread but once the birthday’s over the blog is swamped with old, mostly abandoned threads that push other things off of the main page. We could either have a monthly thread or go with MontgomeryGurl’s idea and post groups of birthdays in one thread every week or so rather than post one thread per person.

  5. Or maybe you could make a seperate section of the blog to put them in? Or would that be really confusing.

  6. People’s birthdays are already in the “dates to remember” section, so we could just congradulate them any time on any thread.

  7. I think it’s nice to have your own thread. But, I also agree that the birthday threads are taking over the blog. I agree with whoever said that: If there is more than 1 birthday per week, they can share one, so: there isin’t more than 1 birthday thread per week

  9. i think b-day threads are fine. But GAPA, can you put them at the bottom after say, a week? casue i have to scroll through a lot to get to interesting threads.

  10. What about putting the favorite colors on the dates to remember?

[We do that, when we know them. –Robert]

  12. Sorry: we can keep some threads “floating” near the top for as long as we like, but we can’t push them further down. That’s because our “threads” are really blog posts. Blogs automatically arrange their material in reverse chronological order, with the most recent posts at the top. (What we call “posts” are really blog comments, which are posted in NORMAL chronological order, with most recent posts LAST.)

    All clear?

  13. Um, I;m for a separate section, because it’s nice to have a thread just for you. That or don’t do anything until after May 9th. I’ve waited since August for my thread. AUGUST. D:

  14. FORGET THE BIRTHDAYS! i dont care if its your birthday or mine it was the DAY YOU WERE BORN and nothing else. sure its cool to have your own thread but pullllease if your gonna be celebrated do it for something really special that you’ve accomplished or want to discuss. i dunno, the birthday threads seem really really pointless to me.

the monthly threads would definitly be better at least. maybe then you can have little bios of them, not just their favorite color or whatever you do. How about you say:
    Name
    Date of BIrthday
    Date they first visited MuseBlog
    Favorite (Color/Animal/Song/Socks/Yoga Position whatever)
What they have to say: (where follows a little blurb about themselves about whatever they want, what they think about life, the universe, and everything else etc.)
    Their Favorite Thread

then you could go to the month’s birthday thread and just scroll through the birthdays and wish them a happy day and all that at one time

  16. One topic per month. It’s crowding the blog incredibly. I know it’s nice to have your own thread, but this is insane.

  17. Like I said earlier, I think 1 per week will be best. If there is more than 1 birthday per week, they’ll share it, but if you’re the only birthday that week, you get your own. I think more than 1 birthday thread per week is crowding

  18. Ya, the birthday threads are crowding things up. Almost all the posts on the “most recent posts” list are birthday threads, which is kind or irritating.
I think the one birthday thread a week idea is OK, but I kind of defeats the purpose. I kind of like the idea of just having the birthdays on the “upcoming events” list and wishing people a happy birthday on whichever thread they visit the most.
(we could make an exception for Axa coz she’s been waiting for ages and ages)

  21. 27(Rosie)- Even if she spelled it differently?

Birthday threads make you feel nice. I’m all for having them, but using them economically. How about we turn old birthday threads into a different thread that person really wants to see? As a present or something. For example, my thread could become Coy Woodnesse v. 2006.1 or suchlike. This would also get rid of a lot of the annoying “oh, make yet another new thread for x, and y, and z.” (Ooo… Oxford comma.)

However, special first post threads are corssing the line for pointlessness. If we’re so dead set on eradicating useless threads, anything along the lines of that certainly fits my definition of ‘useless.’

Who started this whole obsession with getting first post, anyway? If it was me, I’m very sorry. But I don’t think it was.

Prease, for the sake of the heavily overcrowded blog, stop obsessing about getting the first post.

  23. How about a compromise? Every month, Rosanne and I can create a new thread for everybody’s birthday greetings. Then we’ll announce each birthday with a “non-thread thread”–one that doesn’t accept comments. A couple of days after the birthday, we’ll delete the announcement to keep from cluttering up the blog. It will mean a little more work for the GAPAs, but it should keep everybody happy. Sound good?

  29. I think it should be an individual thread for each persons b-day! Not your stupid compromise with just a notice for each person, and then one thread to say happy birthday to everybody! I like the old original way better! And because I’m cooler than you, what I say goes!

  31. I think you should take a poll and see which month musers want most and post everyone with their birthday in that month

    Pie 0

  32. It would be cool if there was a list of birthday threads each month and you could link to individual people’s threads from there.
