(sorry for the double post) let me make myself clear: mitosis and meiosis are forms of cell division, and telekinesis is the stage in which the original (mother) cell splits into the two new “daughter” cells. The rest of it is genetic stuff I don’t feel like talking about at the moment, or the difference between mitosis and meiosis, if you already know, yay, if not, ( my catchphrase is coming up) look it up!

6- How can one choose? I think Crraw is underrated, so I’ll chose him. Her? En laid an egg once, I believe, in the 10th anniversary issue. All the Muses are a bit androgynous.
7- Well, destroying the planet would still result in the death of this person, so I’d say let the person be killed whilst saving the planet.

1- I have no idea. I’ve been thinking about that for the past few days, and I’m no closer. Actually, I’ve been thinking about what my patronus would be. I guess there’s a difference.

5- Shapeshifting into anything that was, is, or could have been. If that makes sense. That way, I’d be able to shape shift into myself if I had a different power. I generally avoid being that in RPGs, since that would outshine nearly everything, etc. Failing that, though… I dunno.

6- Urania. Keep in mind I have never gotten an issue of Muse, so there is no basis for this claim.

    7- That’s a tough one. I’ll think about it a while more.

6- I love them all!!! How can I choose just one?!

7- Obviously that’s a tough one, but I’d have to say letting my friend die and saving the planet. I mean, I know it’s the un-courageous and selfish option, but on my defense, everyone else in the world would live, too. So I’d be saving many more lives than my own. If I chose Option B, however, basically I would be making my friend suffer alone without anyone else alive until he or she eventually died. Then again, if I saved myself and the world, I would have the grief and loss of losing my loved one. *Decides to stop rambling if anyone even read that whole thing…hee hee hee!*

    • soccer starr says:

I’m sorry, but I don’t think that just giving comment numbers is a bad thing that deserves a fine. Sure, it might be a little lazy, but it’s not a crime to me!! I have a few reasons to support this, not listed in order of importance: (Yeah, I know. This is probably a stupid thing to make a fuss about, but I feel strongly that this doesn’t merit a fine, so without further ado…)

Many of us included enough clues in our answer so that you could tell which question it was referring to. (No, I’m not saying I did for every single question – but I did do it for some!!) Therefore, using context clues, it wasn’t terribly difficult to figure out which question I/we were referring to.

Also, it is highly suggested in the HG2MB, as well as from many people in MB (including myself) to read the first ten to twenty comments before you post – so if you had followed along with that, you would have known which questions referred to which answers. (Just another theory to support the idea that it’s not really that hard to figure out which answers matched up to which questions.)

Finally, what you did was hardly any better – you just wrote who gave the question, instead of the question itself. In my opinion, that’s not any easier to follow along with then simply writing the number itself, so I don’t find it fair that you are requesting a fine from us when you performed an action quite similar to ours.

Finally, (Yeah, this finally is for real – sorry about the previous one!!) people refer to comments by their number quite often, in fact, I think it would be extremely difficult to find a thread where someone hasn’t done something like it. Therefore, if you really want to fine people every time someone refers to a post by it’s number, you’ll probably find yourself doing it for the next one hundred years.

I’m sorry that I’m being so difficult, but like SudoRandom, I am also holding my fine until I receive a satisfactory answer. I understand that I could be wrong about this, as it’s completely possible that there is some rule about it that I’m not aware of, in which case I will hand over my fine.

Perhaps you’ve forgotten Rule 6? “If a discussion is in progress, please don’t interrupt it with an unrelated random post. Before posting, read the last 10 or 15 comments to make sure that you understand what is going on.” So should we not follow that rule laid down by Robert? Naturally.

32- PoPoPo stands for Pointless Post Police, a MuseBlogger-run organization which watches for PoPos (Pointless Posts) and fines the perpetrator with virtual choklit, which it not to be confused with virtual chocolate. The PoPoPo used to be more widespread but fell out of use for a while, but it is now making a comeback.

  34. The Administrators recognize, however, that to some extent “pointless” is in the eye of the beholder. Indeed, on some of the sillier parts of the blog, pointlessness is part of the point. And we certainly don’t want to make it impossible for anyone ever to introduce new topics.

We also think it’s a good idea to be patient with and merciful toward newcomers who parachute onto the blog jabbering away in chatspeak and such. They’ll soon adapt to the online culture that has evolved here; meanwhile, MBers are encouraged to refrain from jumping down their throats.

Some MBers, neophytes in particular, don’t know they’re doing anything wrong by posting a ‘first post’ post. If the PoPoPo descends on them with a ‘You are a stupid ‘phyte who is trying to corrupt MB hand over 100,000 pounds of choklit’ attitude, I agree that’s not fun and unfair. On the other hand, if they approach with a ‘excuse me, I know you’re new and may not have read the rules, on MB it’s customary not to post thirty comments in a row or a post which says nothing but ‘first post!’, therefore I’m going to ask you for 30 bars of virtual choklit only because you’re a newbie’ approach, it may help ‘phytes understand MB’s culture and be more accepted. Everyone who is here already knows it’s wrong, and while I don’t disagree with a tap on the shoulder for a first-time poster, they should have read the rules anyway, in which case they should know in the first place. The only reason I’ll make any allowance is because we all know that nobody really reads the rules (In general – for example, you’re supposed to always read the terms and conditions of web pages, and the manual of microwaves and cars and such, et cetera, and as a rule of thumb, rarely does anyone ever do so.), but even if you are going to remind them – honestly, ‘fining’ them for a virtual object? I’ve been here for more than three years now and I’m still not sure what ‘choklit’ even is, even if I could spell it correctly! I refuse to ever pay any sort of ‘fine’, I will encourage others to do this as well, and I immediately look down on anybody who attempts to fine me or others, especially for a virtual object, especially for a misspelled one. It’s immature, it does nothing for the good of the blog, and it only causes harm for everybody in exchange for a temporary feeling of pompousness for the people doing the fining, who have taken a power upon themselves that they do not deserve yet. I’m sick and tired of people thinking they’re above others.

38.1.1- I would be shocked and appalled to see anyone, PoPoPo or not, call another MBer stupid.

If I may quote myself from, er, elsewhere:

“I understand. I’m not trying to be mean or sound unreasonable or anything. It’s just that, given the choice between sounding mean and sounding like a push-over, I’d rather be on the “mean” side. It’s just my nature. I’d like to be nicer, but when something really ticks me off, that is impossible for me.”

“I’m not saying MB should become like Filboid Studge or anything. Zaniness is fun. Some of the funniest things I know have come from MuseBlog. Perhaps the most endearing thing about MuseBlog to me is the sometimes subtle and sometimes ridiculous sense of humor put there by the posters and the GAPAs. But in recent months, it has been entirely zaniness, and it’s become very tiring, in my opinion. Is my opinion necessarily right? Of course not. Everyone has the right, nay, the duty to have his or her own opinion. I’m just voicing mine.”

Picture it: an amazing, perfect sandy beach in a small natural bay, with a tiny waterfall that has just enough water to create a smooth, arching spout, created by a creek. But nobody can tread on its pristine beauty without risking their lives on the treacherous 60-foot cliffs that line it.

This is a real place in California and it’s one of the most beautiful things that I have ever seen in my life…

Now I sound kind of dumb. But it is a real place. Not very many people can get past the natural defenses, and now nobody can go down there without trespassing on someone’s property. It’s all good, but I wish I could go and enjoy it.

25- What’s this rubbish about putting names by your replies? In my whole MBing time, I can only count very few times that it has been done. The PoPoPo fines when there are pointless comments. I usually assume that people are smart enough to read the name in bold under the comment number, but if anyone feels this would be to difficult for them, I’ll give in and write the names. Maybe. Besides, who gave you the PoPoPo authority to fine for that cause?
    *agrees with soccer star*

    28-Reading!

    PoPoPo)
I support them, as long as they only fine for pointless posts, and only fine MBers who have been here for at least 10 days. If someone* runs around posting “!!!! I like cake!” on every thread, topic unrelated, I do think that a little reprimand is in order. I had quite a lot of, well, interesting posts in my neophyte era, and it took me 3 whole months to figure out what was so bad about most of them. I believe that most MBers are mature enough to phrase themselves accurately, PoPoPo member included. If I wasn’t a PoPoPo member, then I wouldn’t answer the “!!!! I like cake!” posts, leaving the author sitting in the dark wondering why no-one is talking to en.

And what about us? Seeing people randomly post nonsense on your favorite threads is at first a little aggravating. But over the days, weeks, months, all the anger about those little nonsense posts builds up until you start seeing red at every “!!!! I like cake!” post and snap at the unfortunate next PoPoer. Instead of letting it all build up until you feel turn into a grumpy old ‘paleo you can tell them politely. I doubt that anyone PoPos on purpose- when you let people know that it makes you mad when they post like that, they’ll stop. If someone can’t take a gentle reprimand, then that’s their problem.

      3. Rocky Raccoon, I think it is.
      4. Ah! Hard decision! John is amazingly cool and a brilliant songwriter and everything, but reeally arrogant and pretty stubborn about Yoko. Paul is the cute one, but really nice (and besides, now that he’s old he’s not quite so cute). George is a bit too New-Agey for me, and he used to have those eyebrows, and then those glasses and that beard, which were just weird. Ringo is freaking amazing, but stoned quite a lot. I’d have to go with the songwriting team of John’n’Paul, because they were BRILLIANT.
On the topic of the Beatles, the other day my friend and I combined our two great passions (Beatles and Harry Potter) to equate each of the Beatles with the Marauders. John was James, of course. I think Paul was Lupin. George was… Pettigrew… which means that Ringo was Sirius.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians!!!! Here it goes:

      1. Hmm…one of the things about Percy Jackson that I love is that I am not like any of the characters, I just wish I could be like them! I guess if I had to choose I’d be a weird mix of Annabeth and Thalia, but very unlike them individually. I mean, I don’t have a punk style at all like Thalia, but I kind of have her personality in real life, just a little toned down. I’m more like Annabeth overall than Thalia but I don’t have her bravery and courage. :( I wish I did though…oops I think that’s the next question.

      2. Annabeth, probably.

      3. Umm…two closest friends? How about one? This is kind of a hard question, because very few of my friends are anything like characters in the series. I guess I do have one friend who’s kind of like Calypso, though. She’s even “cursed” by the “Fates” (Aka her parents.) who don’t let her date.

      1) I made it up for a school project where we had to write blog entries for kids at our “sister school” in Turkey to read. I had just read a book about the Hawai’ian princess Kaiulani, so “Kai”, and I’ve always admired Jacques-Yves Cousteau, so it just popped into my head.
      2) TierOneGirl, BaikonurJedi.

It was the first word I saw on Scientific American.

I didn’t consider any other names, aside from generic Muse-related names.

      1. I had just returned from the 07 spelling bee, where I was told about MB.

      2. I don’t think I considered other names. At times, I’ve considered changing the 73 or making it something math-related.

    New question:

How many times have you been Rick Roll’d on any video website? (For me, it’s about 5 actual ones, with countless others on “Luigi is real in Super Mario 64” videos that I watched for laughs.)

99- Mine… hm. This name started out as a cheat account on another site. When I came here I tried thinking of a meaningful name, since “bookgirl_me” doesn’t exactly transmit the “smart and (semi-)serious” message. Then I figured what the cake and just typed in bookgirl_me. For a while, I considered changing it, to Pooka or Möve or Seagull (love those birds) for example, since my name’s not great for RPGs. In the end I just forgot about it… Sometimes it’s more appropriate then you’d think.

99- I have no idea where I got my name, especially since (big confession coming that I’ve been meaning to get out) I’m not a programmer.
100- Once. (Thank you, Piggy. )
