NASA actually calls food like this “rehydratable”, because the astronauts can inject water back into the food with a device something like a hypodermic syringe. Of course, they don’t sell these with the “space food” you can buy at stores because they don’t want to give kids syringes.

I think, because “um” is a masculine ending and “a” is a feminine ending, and the two don’t mix. I could provide a chart, but it would be hopelessly boring and a little confusing.

I was taught that “ae” is the nominative plural ending, “as” is the accusative plural ending… Oh, I’ll just prepare a chart for first declension nouns.

in September 3rd, 2009 @ 22:59It comes in a plastic container, I believe it has a red label (I could be wrong, it’s been a LONG time since I had any), it is a chocolately, er, hazlenut spread, I believe. Chocolate with some sort of nutty flavored additive, anyway. I don’t recall the precise consistency, but not as thick as peanut butter, I don’t think. A sort of creamy brown color…..
and I have no doubt about my insanity.

We also had a “problem of the week” which we’re supposed to write an large-ish (probably not to those in high-school) paper on it, about how we solved it, what strategies we used, ect. I solved it in about two seconds. It was a thinly disguised problem about how many different numbers can you make in binary with a certain number of digits. As in 0 and 1 for one digit, 00 and 01 and 10 and 11 for two, ect, ect. They used chocolate and vanilla ice cream to give us the problem. And, the class I’m in supposed to be the advanced class. I looked at what the other class was doing, (We were doing Cartesian Planes) they were reviewing Order Of Operations. In eighth grade.

Imagine an Arnold Schwarzenegger/Yoda hybrid trying to teach you about sophomore math, who doesn’t really understand what you’re trying to say. She’s not that bad, but the time she mixed up curves and (math-term for straight lines that continue indefinitely) really, really sucked. No-one really knew what she was talking about. Maybe we can get her with subtitles… *sigh*

(Yes, there are numerous representations of binary, not just the unsigned form you learned. For instance, 1010 would mean 10 in unsigned, -2 in sign-magnitude, -5 in one’s complement, and -6 in two’s complement.) Fun times!

And, our problem wasn’t exactly binary, it’s more like combinations and orders of 1 and 0, represented in the problem by chocolate and vanilla ice cream. The problem is 256 students wanted their ice cream cones all different, but the school would only give them chocolate and vanilla ice cream. We had to figure out how many scoops per student it took to make them all have different scoops, like binary ,but the problem never mentioned it. Such as, for one digit, it would be 1 and 0 (two different numbers) two digits 11, 10, 01, 00, three 111, 110, 101, 100, 011, 010, 001, 000, ect. I came up with two answers:
Good Student answer: Eight scoops
Smart Alec answer: Send them all to Ben & Jerry’s, and make them buy their own ice cream.

I can’t remember quite how it all happened, but in the end we decided to be co-barkeeps. However, as she hasn’t been ’round in ages, the post has been left to me. If and when she returns she will also be able to fill your orders.
