Do you serve iced tea here in the heat of summer? If so, an iced mint tea with honey would be nice.
Ooh, I’ll have one of those too. That sounds delicious.
1, 1.1- Two iced teas, coming right up.
*sips* Mmm, delicious.
*sips* Lovely, thanks. That was just what I needed.
Make it Three!
I believe we were discussing obscure sodas. Shall we continue?
Responding to post 149 from the last thread- Actually, “freeze-dried” is kind of a misnomer. NASA actually calls food like this “rehydratable”, because the astronauts can inject water back into the food with a device something like a hypodermic syringe. Of course, they don’t sell these with the “space food” you can buy at stores because they don’t want to give kids syringes.
I wish they did. space foods tastes awful (or at least the “ice cream” does).
I don’t eat ice cream in general, so I haven’t had that, but the apple slices were okay.
I don’t eat it either.
WHAT?!
That sounds reasonable. Could I please have some iced tea with honey? I’m parched.
5- Certainly. Here you are.
Ah… *relaxes*
May I have some echinacea tea? I’ve come down with something…
Right away.
Merci.
I’ll have rasberry flavoured sweet tea. No ice! I like it. Oh, and don’t forget to dump precisely 1/4 of it on my head.
You like it that way? On your head?
You don’t?
To each her/his own.
Ens, you mean? “En” makes things so much simpler.
Yes, I guess it does.
Whadda you mean by that!? When 1/4 is on my head, a) I can cool off easier and my hair will smell good, and b) I can water down the tea. Sweet tea is usually sweetened far too much.
Of course, you could just ask Piggy to make it less than normal sweet.
Could I have a non-Cartesian cupcake*? Thanks.
*As in a cupcake that does not and will not fit on a 3-D graph.
But I like it on my head!
Well, if you like it that way… I guess your hair will smell good! Enjoy!
9- Here’s the tea, but you’ll have to do your own pouring outside. The wungs just washed this floor.
9.1.1.1.2.1- Three dimensions cannot possibly hope to hold the deliciousness of the cupcakes baked here. I’ll whip up a batch right now.
Fine. *goes outside and pours over head* YAYA!!! *stomps in sweet tea puddle* hehe. *comes back in* *calmly adds water to the sweet tea* Thank you Piggy, that was very refreshing. Now I will go back to my math. Oh, and do you have any idea what “number sense” means? One of my math problems says to “number sense”, then solve, then find a pattern, using any solution, but I have no idea what it means!
Might I please have some iced peppermint tea and some chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream? Thank you.
(I prefer my ice cream 3-dimensional and slightly melting, with the cookie dough in perfect tetrahedrons. Thank you.)
11- As you wish.
Piggy, could I please have a cold glass of lemonade? I desperately need to cool down on this warm summer day…
Also, I’m just curious (And I really want to get another conversation started!) but how did the Hare and Hedgepig get started? Did you start it Piggy?
You can reconstruct a fair amount of the H&H’s history by using the blog’s search box to search for “hedgepig.”
Okay, will do! Thank you.
13- Here you are.
I’m not feeling particularly hungry today, but the heat has me parched. I think I’d like some pineapple juice.
15- *pours juice*
Hi Piggy, are we on at the same time? And the sweet tea was great!
My iced tea was good also.
*eats non-Cartesian cupcakes* Yumm… I wonder if that will have any dietary effects.
I’m freezing. May I have some riccotta ravioli with tomatoe sauce, please?
Excellent choice. I’ll have that out for you as soon as possible.
Piggy, I like your old man picture.
Piggy: (brightly) He’s in an insane asylum!
Hm, that doubles as a tongue-twister.
Oh my.
Hee hee! He stands in a corner and yells at people! Isn’t that great?
Uh……….*is baffled and speechless*
Fantastic… I think…
Right. Piggy, please tell me what I am supposed to think about that.
Mmmmm… pineapple juice. Thanks.
I would absolutely adore a cinna bun right now! Peas?
One cinnamon bun coming right up. And I’m assuming that, by “peas”, you inferred “please”, not an order for a dish of peas. How about a glass of milk to go with the bun?
That would be FANtastic! Thanks!
Well, here I am again, asking where the people are. I think I’ve been asking that a lot lately. *sips orange soda*
Alas, the H&H is painfully empty of late. Please come visit me, people reading the recent comments bar!
Hello. Nice weather here in the Oasis lately.
Ah, who can ignore a request from our beloved Piggy?
I’ll take a hot chocolate, please, with whip cream.
Ah, visitors! Hot chocolates all around, I’d say. *rushes into kitchen*
20.1.1.1(Piggy)- Absolutely wonderful, and even more disturbing than Armada’s avatar.
Ah, spring is coming… An orange soda and a non-Cartesian cupcake, please.
Right away.
Do you have Italian sodas here?
Do you have dark chocolate that could be melted down into hot chocolate, as I am craving chocolate and sadly allergic to milk?
SFTDP, but please don’t forget to pour some on my head.
28- We’re in the Oasis–is there anything we don’t have here? What kind would you like?
29- Hot cocoa can be made with water or milk, not just milk. Drinking plain melted dark chocolate would not be the most enjoyable experience, I’m sure, so I’ll make you some cocoa with water. And, as with your tea, you’ll have to do your own pouring outside. Or perhaps ask a wung to help you with the pouring. But outside.
Rasberry lime, please!
It really depends on the dark chocholate. Semisweet would’nt be bad at all.
Hm, my family’s freezer back home is broken, so a drink with ice would taste VERY good. There’s something I like that doesn’t have a name, it’s just half a cup of cranberry juice and half a cup of lime seltzer with lots of ice cubes, if you could, please.
Sounds very refreshing. I’ll have to try it with the lime.
Hmm. For some reason, I read this as “My family’s sneezer” and was most intrigued, until I looked more carefully. Oh well. As long as I’m here, Piggy, could I also please have one of those? I make them at home, they are delish. *licks lips*
I had one of those yesterday, only with lemon-lime seltzer and with pomegranate juice instead of cranberry. I was looking for plain seltzer, but lemon-line was all I had in the refrigerator.
Anything with pomegranate is nomworthy. I compulsively buy anything with it in it’s name.
I drink cranberry juice with 7UP a lot. It’s also tasty.
My latest enthusiasm is Trader Joe’s cherry cider. I finally got some plain seltzer to add, and it’s divine, dahlinks. An especially nice accompaniment to the evening chocolate.
31.1- Here you are.
32- Ice cubes? Pshaw. I have a cup-shaped mold to make ice cups. As well as a few pairs of gloves so as to slow melting. But I’ll throw some ice cubes in it as well.
32.2- Quite a popular drink, it seems. Let me go fetch some more seltzer.
Thank you! *sips drink*
Thank you. It’s delicious.
Thank you!
We should give this drink a name.
Well, with cranberry juice in seltzer water, it’s probably pink. And with lime seltzer, it’s fizzy and slightly sour. So you could call it something like a Zesty Bunny.
Zesty Bunny… eek.
Or a Bunny Zinger? (“Bunny Dissolved in Acid” doesn’t sound very refreshing.)
Let’s leave out the bunnies. How about “Pink Fizz”?
Zesty Fizzy Bunny Zinger
Bunny Blaster. As in it blasts them away?
Hmm, I would like a chilled tomato juice, if you have it. My compliments to Piggy, who keeps us all sedated with loverly beverages and snacks.
On second thoughts, I am a little queasy. Would anyone recommend an herbal remedy for that?
Chewing candied ginger root can relieve nausea. I’ll get you some.
Oh, thanks. Much better. (sorry for the delay in response)
Here’s your juice. Yes, sedated. The perfect condition for my experiments….
I’ll take a nice……Er, wait. Experiments? Uh-oh…… *runs away in terror*
Uh, what!? *runs away also, dumping hot chocolate in Piggy’s face as a safety precaution* *is just kidding, did not dump hot chocolate*
Experiments…?
I’ll be a test subject!
Could I have a cold drink that also tastes good hot? And a little candle flame, like the ones you get in Indian restaurants? So I can heat my drink? And use question marks on every sentence? Please?
I’m in the mood for something sweet…surprise me!
35- Something cold that tastes good hot… hm. Off the top of my head I can’t think of something good. Did you have anything in mind, or do you just want to heat something up?
36- How about a raspberry and banana smoothie?
Hmm, Pink Fizz sounds a little like a musical act…
37) Awesome, thanks!
37- I just to heat something up.
Could I have some dark chocolate coated Macadamia nuts? I’ll share them with everyone.
40- Here are the macadamias.
Hello, world. Sice our cafeteria food is completely inedible (is that hairball in a tortilla?!!!?!?! ), I need a white-chocoalte chip cookie with peanut butter.
42- Several dozen cookies coming right up.
THANK YOU!!!!
Ooooooooooo… *wants crescant with nutella*
*presents croissant with Nutella*
A month ago I mightve asked for a bowl of strawberries, but I recently developed an allergy to strawberries and razberries. Wah.
Don’t worry, you can’t get an allergic reaction from virtual food. It’s also a great way to lose weight, if all you eat is virtual food.
Good; because I’m allergic to strawberries – and a lot else.
Cool! Then, I want some choklit covered strawberries!
I’m very sorry I’ve been absent from the tearoom. MA classes take up a lot of time, you know.
Some yunan tea and raspberries, please. I need to do homework.
*sink sinto armchair* *sticks in earbuds* *pulls out laptop* *works*
45.1- *sees sidebar* NUTELLA?! WHO HAS NUTELLA?!
*is banned from the H&H*
But it’s sooo good…
47- Here you are.
48- Uh, you can have some if you want.
49- Thank you muchly.
I’m a [recovering] Nutella addict. I haven’t had it in… oh, about a year. I love it so…
*shudder* I despise nutella. It doesn’t taste good at all…..
*dodges pies*
I grew up with Nutella. We Italians can’t resist…
I’m not very fond of Nutella on bread, but in those ferrero rocher chocolatemabobbers it’s good.
H’m…. I’ll have some Jasmine tea, please, and some chocolate eclairs. You were saying?
51- You’re obviously either insane or thinking of vegemite. Nutella is heaven in spreadable form.
52- I can get you some of those, if you’d like.
53- Coming right up.
*eye twitches* I just remembered I have [real-life] Nutella left over from a Latin food day last year. *twitches* *sprints upstairs*
Latin food day? Is “nutella” the plural of “nutellum”?
Er, no. We just love Nutella, and our Latin food days also encompass Italian food of various sorts. We prefer spaghetti to garum, basically.
Actually, if “Nutella” were a Latin word, “Nutella” would be the singular and “Nutellae” would be the plural. I think, because “um” is a masculine ending and “a” is a feminine ending, and the two don’t mix. I could provide a chart, but it would be hopelessly boring and a little confusing.
“-um” is the singular nominative (and accusative) ending for second declension neuter nouns, while “-a” is the plural nominative (and accusative). </Latin_III_Edjumacation>
*brain implodes*
Why do brains always seem to implode when I get near them? *sigh*
Well, at least they don’t explode. You don’t have to clean up the mess.
That’s exactly what I was trying to say! I meant that the declensions were different, I always mix up gender and declension. Are you sure about the “a” ending? I was taught that “ae” is the nominative plural ending, “as” is the accusative plural ending… Oh, I’ll just prepare a chart for first declension nouns.
nominative accusative
singular “-a” “-am”
plural “-ae” “-as”
Are we the only ones that can make sense of the Latin nouns floating around on H&H?
That’s the declension for feminine nouns. But there are also masculine and neuter nouns, which are declined with different endings.
Yup. Now I have a good reason to explain why I study Latin: H&H discussions!
I take Latin too! Not very good at it, unfortunately. All those grammar rules… *sigh and shakes head sadly* I’ve only studied one year of it at school though, so at least I have a good explanation for the next time someone comes up to me and says,
Random Person: “Hey, you take Latin, right? Can you help me with something?”
Me: “Ummmm…no, actually.”
Random Person: “Why not?”
Me: “I’ve only taken one year, see?” *grins*
Random Person: “Oh.”
This may just be one of the strangest things I have ever posted…
I’ve studied for two years, and I find the grammar a lot easier than English, then again, if you speak English, all other languages are really confusing, and vice versa. There’s a lot of perspective to consider here, but I’ll stop before I go on a full-out rant.
Well, I guess I’m insane, then. I have no idea what vegemite is, and I am quite definitely thinking of Nutella. *shudder*
Okay, please define Nutella so we can be completely sure that you are insane. And don’t just say “gross” or “disgusting” or “frightening”.
It comes in a plastic container, I believe it has a red label (I could be wrong, it’s been a LONG time since I had any), it is a chocolately, er, hazlenut spread, I believe. Chocolate with some sort of nutty flavored additive, anyway. I don’t recall the precise consistency, but not as thick as peanut butter, I don’t think. A sort of creamy brown color…..
and I have no doubt about my insanity.
I don’t like Nutella much. We tried it on s’mores when I was camping and I much preferred the chocolate bars. Then I just tried some in general and just didn’t like it.
You’re not alone in your insanity, Luna. Besides, the only definition of sanity is a mindset similar to that of the majority. Possibly schizophrenics are the only sane ones, and everyone else in the world is utterly bonkers.
I was just pondering that the other day.
How can we be sure of our “sanity”? Perhaps what blue looks like to one person looks like a whole other color to someone else… *brain implodes*
This is the perfect time for my philosophy questions!
If everything suddenly enlarged to twice it’s original size, would we notice?
If the universe was created five minutes ago, and everything that comes before that was faked, could we know?
If there was a universe containing only one right hand, and a different universe containing only one left hand, would they be the same?
Wrap you minds until they snap!
*brain implodes*
I think you and Daisy*Chain need some inner brain support systems.
Or maybe you need less inner brain support systems. These are supposed to make your brain implode.
Here’s another:
How do you know that what you perceive as smell is ot what others perceive as sound? How do you know that if you were stuck inside someone’s body, it would feel like you were smelling roses when you heard a song being played?
For the last one, you mean only people with right hands/left hands, right?
No, only right and left hands. No people.
Hey! Vegemite is great! And so what is Nuttela anyway?
I have suddenly plunged into a state of confusion. What exatly is vegimite? Is it like marmite?
…But Pa might not.
Sorry. I had to. To make this not a PoPo, Vegemite is an Australian food paste made from yeast extract. (Yes, I just googled that.)
Hmm… may I please have some Pumpkin bread? With fresh cranberries in it?
I know that people will hate me for this, and maybe it’s banned in H&H, but I am legally bound to inform you that I have just lost the game. *dodges brick pies*
So it is like marmite. I hate marmite.
Grr… You made me lose the game! I’d been winning for more than a week!
Darn you, I lost too! I’d been winning for months!
Um…..
Ack. Now I’ve lost as well. Cake!
Okay, I just have to know. What is this game, and how do you win or lose it?
You’re better off not knowing. But if you insist on knowing, emmatheduck explained it in June 2007.
42 minutes? The way I’ve always played, the rule is that you can’t lose until you’ve stopped thinking about it for more than a half a minute or so–that way if you’re having a conversation about the game, you don’t have to say “I lost!” every other word. 42 minutes sounds a lot easier, though.
SFTDP. I forgot to mention that I lost.
On the bus ride back from Disney World last year (band trip), my friend and I lost the game upwards of 120 times. Probably more–that comes out to ten times an hour, and I’m certain it was up in the thirties for at least an hour.
The way I played it, when you forget again, you start playing again. When you die is the moment you win the game.
XKCD freed us, the Game doesn’t matter anymore.
XKCD, while powerful, lacks that ability. After all, if it freed us all, we’d all be dead.
Holy cake, that’s confuzzling. (Then again, everything’s confuzzling on MB, so it’s not like this is any different from anything else, right?!) Oh yeah, and I’ve lost the game.
And…what exactly do you use vegemite for? And why is it called that?
54.3.1.1- You may have some cranberry-instilled pumpkin bread, yes. And although I do highly discourage that silly game here, throwing pies is even more strictly forbidden.
Well, then, in that case; [Pies snipped. –Admin]
May the HPB carry to doomville.
[Pie-throwing is strictly forbidden at the H&H. All projectile pies must be left at the Pie Check when you enter. –Admin.]
I lost the game. Sorry. I just thought it.
GRAAAAA!!! *pulls hair out*
Yunan tea, please… I’m rather busy. (*coughupdatingwebsitecough*)
I’m sorry! I’m sorry! But my friend is WAYYY WORSE THAN ME! (sorry I made you oull out your hair. Ouch)
58- Here’s your tea. Nasty cough you have there.
I haven’t formally stopped by here in a while….hmmm, could I have a cold glass of lemonade please, Piggy? Lots of ice!
What does everyone want to talk about? We should get a conversation started…one that doesn’t involve a certain, errr, game. And NO, I’m not participating in “it” and getting into that nonsense now.
We could talk about the plausible origins of strange words, pineapple, for example.
one explorer to another: It’s prickly, and it’s a fruit.
other explorer: spinepear?
first explorer (1): perhaps not. How about spinecherry?
second explorer(2): pinegrape?
1: pinestrawberry?
2: pineapple?
(both): Perfect!
May I have a steaming cup of Irish breakfast tea with lemon and sugar? Thanks, Piggy.
Pinestrawberry! I like it!
Me too. Maybe I’ll start using Pinestrawberry instead, just to confuse me friends.
Me friends? It’s not Talk Like a Pirate Day yet, is it?
61- Here you are.
62- Mm, good choice.
thanks! I’m addicted to tea…
143 on MA- Yes, I think chocolate would be nice, even if MB is up and running again. I’ll get some.
144 on MA- One blood clot comin’ right up.
How kind, Piggy. Just what I always wanted: a blood clot. Although, given the type of food I prefer to eat, blood clots/clogged arteries are probably very high on the list of problems I will develop later in life……
Delicious cheese fries, though! (I love cheese fries……Except when they’re fake cheese fries, with nacho cheese instead of real cheese)
But Luna, virtual food is the healthiest of food!
That may be, but I was referring to the sorts of food I like to consume in real life. That is, very greasy unhealthy stuff. Like french fries with melted cheddar & monterey jack and bacon bits; Swedish meatballs positively swimming in vegetable oil; buttery popcorn (complete with shredding the bag and licking the inside); greasy pizza; BBQ potato chips (I’ve already eaten nearly a full family size bag today); and the list goes on……..
Have you ever had poutine? It’s quite good. It’s french fries with gravy and cheese, and eaten mainly in Montreal. Piggy, could I have some please, with vegetarian gravy?
No, I’ve not. I’ve heard of it, though, I believe, when we were on a tour bus with choir in Canada 6 years ago…..I confess it sounded quite unappealing. I’m really not fond of gravy, to be honest.
*staggers in*
some earl grey, if you please!
-sits down, exhausted-
Three chocolate eclairs, custard, tapioca, and peppermint tea please~
65- Yes, of course. Whatever seems to be the matter? Why are you staggering?
66- Sugary goodness coming right up.
Is everyone staggering exhaustedly this evening?
I want some Japanese bread butter toast with muenster cheese and vegemite on it. I reccomend using a toaster oven.
Pseudonym- Here you are.
68- You’re really telling me how to make something? I’ll have that right out for you.
Oh, sorry. It’s just I’m really craving that. Cuz all the other Japs in my area went on vacation this summer and we didn’t get our monthly jap food deliveries.
okay i have a question
you don’t find the term “jap” to be derogatory? i know that people rarely use it in that way/at all anymore but I just kind of cringe when I see it
that being said I get to go to a japanese buffet on monday wooo udon for all
Oh, er, *headdesks* ARGH! I can’t believe I Ickes that up from N! Nis one of my all-Japanese friends, whereas I’m
half American. And she says jap allthe time. Sorry!
oh I’m half too! I just asked cause I’m ridiculous about everything, yup…
Half-? Japanese? Please explain yourself, as I am wholly confused. And udon=AWESOME! Esp. in the winter.
yeah I’m half japanese on my mom’s side…there aren’t a lot of all japanese people around here and/or I’m not friends with them so I don’t know slang and stuff..lol…
Awesome! *high fives* what area of Japan? My mom’s from Tokyo. Sometimes I have to call her Mama to get her attention LOL. Like:
me: Mom?
Me: Mo-om!
Me: Mama?
Mom: what is it?
Me: *cracks up laughing*
And it has to be said with that little Japanese lilt in the voice or she won’t recognize it……. So you know what the butter toast is?
argh! Have you ever been to Japan? I’m like fourth or fifth generation I think…from Kagoshima on one side and somewhere close to Tokyo on the other, I think. I looked up the toast, I’ve never heard of that before (lol fail) but it looks delicious
oh dear, we’re kind of off topic..um I think we could move this to the random thread if that’s okay x__x
I’ve been to Japan, yah. But not since… *brain implodes* ack I don’t remember! If ever we kokonvene, I will make sure to make you some butter toast! LOL
What exactly is udon? I’ve heard of it, but I don’t know the details of its existence.
And now, a group cringe at my lack of food knowledge.
it’s a noodle soup, basically. the noodles are really thick and delicious. you can have it with meat in it or just plain. I love it lol
Oh! That sounds good.
-chews on sugary goodness, taking a moment to drink-
67-I’m not tired, but in bed…
thank you kindly, piggy. I’m just stressin out over a bunch of stuff, though that’s nothing new
I stress out about stuff all the time. Like my math test tommorow, and how my report is due on Friday, and my concert is next week-Oh no…oh dear…
Optimism, optimism, OPTIMISM! That’s kinda my motto, esp. when I’m depressed……./slightly random/
YESSS! I GOT AN A ON MY MATH TEST!!! NO NEED TO FREAK ANY MORE!!!!! :gin:
Anyway, for English, we had to pick days of the week to present our book report next week, and I drew Firday, but then my sister stole it and I got Tuesday but then I stole my friend’s and got Thursday but she took it and I ended up with Monday.
I will never go into a life of crime because of that.
Gin? I don’t know if getting an A calls for that much celebration. Good luck with your book report… situation. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on, but it seems crime never pays.
Oh, that had me laughing out loud. The gin comment….
Yeah. I think CMC acshuly meant
“Acshuly”? Really, f+h?
Oh, dear god, i didn’t even notice that. *headdesk*
Woah, really? LOL
Oh, I know. That’s why Piggy’s comment (made with him well aware of that fact) was so hilarious.
@Piggy:
Oops *feels idiotic* my brain is not functionings.
@Luna:
I know. I’m just in the mood for stating the obvious.
Hello! I haven’t been here in a while! How is everybody? *drinks some orange soda*
I need something with large amounts of sugar and chocolate. Any suggestions?
My father’s recipe for fudge contains the purest double-dose of sugar and chocolate that I know of. I’m sure the H&H must have a fresh batch in the kitchen.
Hello everyone. I have come here because……there is no where else to go. So here I am! *sips hot chocolate* It’s really dreary and bleary (man I love those words!) in PA. How ’bout you guys?
Same here. It’s so gross out… blech.
*longingly* Fudge…… *drools* I love fudge…..That sounds absolutely delicious. *eats all the fudge*
Huh, cyber-fudge is decidedly unsatisfying.
That certainly sounds wonderful.
Ick, it’s all rainy and dreechy (Scottish for stormy and icky) where I live now. Could I have some strawberry tea with honey?
*goes into kitchen to fetch fudge*
76- Mmm, that sounds good. I’ll have that made in a jiffy.
I have an extreme πείνα (craving in greek) for a salad right now. Have no idea why. καυτά Ïόδινα κουνÎλι θα αναλάβουν τον κόσμο.
78- If you say so. Any sort of salad specifically?
Feta with Itialian.
Thanx.
Here you are.
*COUGH*
Gah… I’m sick and most probably contagious.
*goes into bio-containment chamber*
Can I have some green tea with lemon please? And some of that fudge would be delightful…
I have an essay I have to write for Monday… *headdesk*
[*coughcough*]
Me too… I’m congested and have a sore throat, and now I’ve started painfully coughing. *SNORK*
A fudgsicle would be nice…
81- Indeed.
81.1- Ooh, good decision for a sore throat.
Hooray, everyone’s sick! *cough*
I habe a thtuffy node (I have a stuffy nose) *sniffle* ahh… Ahhh… AH-CHOOOOOO! Sowwy *sniffle* Could I habe some fudge please?
Would it be appropriate for me to do some basic epidemiological calculations to determine how high the risk for this, er, disease is, how it was contracted and such in the H&H (I mean, do the calculations and whatnot here, I don’t mean people got it from this loverly tearoom), or would you prefer if I took my microbe fetish elsewhere?
Well, seeing as you’re a few miles apart, and microbes can’t travel through the internet, I really don’t think there’s a chance of infection
Yes, and I don’t know if they have the same disease, coughing and being congested are pretty vague symptoms. BUT you never know if there is a hacking MBer just down the block. I’d known one for a year, and I never realized it until I saw him reading the magazine on the bus one day. Haz-Mat suits for everyone! (Does that fall under “formal dress,” as is required in the H&H? )
Thank you muchly… I actually feel better today!
I’m horrifically tired from the first 2 days of school, leading 6th graders on tours, sprinting up stairs to get to class after getting totally lost in the newly remodeled library, and running outside to get to the Spanish trailer.
Some tea would be nice.
82.2- I don’t think it’s contagious over the Internet, so you H&H’s don’t have to worry. *yawn* Sure thing peary moppins. waitaminute. peary moppins? Is there already a Muser named Mary Poppins, or are my eyes not working? *yawn* Here’s your tea, pm. I brought out some sugar and cream, if you want. Could I aso have some coffee, 2 sugars, 4 creams? Thank you.
I know, I know, we’d have to be in direct contact to get the disease. I was just kidding. I have an obsession…
(Did you know that the warming drawer of an oven can be substituted for a germ incubator?)
On a Blackberry.
Ack, now I have those coughs that hurt in your chest… *hack*
Another fudgsicle, please. *snork*
Ah, good tea. Hot tea. Nice tea. *Sips*
82.1- Of course.
83- It would indeed. I’ll make some.
83.1- Sure.
84- Here you are.
Thank you kindly, Piggy.*sip* Mmmmm, that’s good. So, who has yucky weather like in PA today?
I doubt it, although, come to think of it, I wouldn’t know…..I’ve not left my res hall all day…..
Don’t you have windows?
Waiter! Or waitress, I’m not sure. Anyway, a large mug of Chai. Could the mug have a picture of an on it?
87- One mug of Chai coming right up. And yes, the mug can be infested with an HPB, if that’s what you really want. Oh, and I prefer the term “barkeep” to waiter.
Well then barkeep, could you fetch me some tea cookies? (What does that word mean? It sounds like ballif, with a little fudgey sharpness. If that makes sense)
What word? Barkeep? Well, let’s sound it out. Bar… keep. Keeping a bar. A person who keeps a bar? Yes, let’s go with that. I maintain the “bar”, although it’s more a tearoom, called the H&H. Here are your cookies, in any case.
I don’t want to sound rude, but one of these cookies is burnt. Who does the cooking around here?
That would be the wungs. They may have been busy picking blueberries and lost track of time.
I’d like something… warm. Rich.
*sigh*
I’m sorry, I’m having a rather bad day.
Hm. Warm and rich. Hot cocoa? Chai?
Hot cocoa, please.
Watching a Bohemian Rhapsody AMV with your favorite anime surely helps you get out of a blue mood.
Piggy, could I apply for a job here.If not then, could I have some sweet tea.
Could I have a hot chocolate? I need chocolate. My new math teacher is a nightmare *sniffle* She doesn’t explain anything. Raised number are okay, but what about when we start doing advanced vectors? I guess she can’t fail everyone.
My math teacher seems to be one of those, but worse. We’re doing all review. We also had a “problem of the week” which we’re supposed to write an large-ish (probably not to those in high-school) paper on it, about how we solved it, what strategies we used, ect. I solved it in about two seconds. It was a thinly disguised problem about how many different numbers can you make in binary with a certain number of digits. As in 0 and 1 for one digit, 00 and 01 and 10 and 11 for two, ect, ect. They used chocolate and vanilla ice cream to give us the problem. And, the class I’m in supposed to be the advanced class. I looked at what the other class was doing, (We were doing Cartesian Planes) they were reviewing Order Of Operations. In eighth grade.
Poor you. My maths teacher is nice, and we’re doing binomial products. I’m in the advanced class too, and Year 8 maths here has a lot of revision. Especially for me, as I did British Year 9 maths when I was homeschooled. I guess that was why I was surprised last semester when no-one else knew about Pythagoras’ Theorem. *rambles* *decides to click comment*
One of the worst parts about her is that she has a strong Slovakian (spelling?) accent and her german grammar isn’t that great. Imagine an Arnold Schwarzenegger/Yoda hybrid trying to teach you about sophomore math, who doesn’t really understand what you’re trying to say. She’s not that bad, but the time she mixed up curves and (math-term for straight lines that continue indefinitely) really, really sucked. No-one really knew what she was talking about. Maybe we can get her with subtitles… *sigh*
I wouldn’t mind Yoda trying to teach me math.
Mind Yoda I wouldn’t.
If you spoke german, know you would that long the sentences are and difficult to understand it is; when messed with the tenses are. Besides, not as friendly as Yoda she is.
92- Mas0n- Piggy prefers not to hire people for the H&H, especially not after the fiasco on the previous thread. Also, your capitalizing and lack of chatspeak is swell, but could you use question marks? Thanks!
bookgirl- Aw, I’m sorry to hear about that. Teachers like that are so annoying.
Piggy, could I have some Chai Tea as well?
Could I have some cookies, Piggy? I am really in the mood for cookies…
91.1.1- Here you are.
92- The tea I can give you, a job I can’t. Sorry.
93- Indeed. Good luck with your teacher. I despise teachers who can’t do their basic job.
94- Of course. I’ll have some too, I think.
95- Any specific sort of cookies?
Chocolate chip, please. I’m going for the classic.
As you wish.
Ick. I’m sick. Sinus infection & a cold. Some chicken noodle soup, please?
93.1- Oh, unsigned binary? Easy. I had a test on unsigned, sign-magnitude, one’s complement, and two’s complement today. I think we start bias notation next week. (Yes, there are numerous representations of binary, not just the unsigned form you learned. For instance, 1010 would mean 10 in unsigned, -2 in sign-magnitude, -5 in one’s complement, and -6 in two’s complement.) Fun times!
97- I’m sorry to hear that. Soup coming right up.
*blinks* I can’t wait for that to be explained in high school.
And, our problem wasn’t exactly binary, it’s more like combinations and orders of 1 and 0, represented in the problem by chocolate and vanilla ice cream. The problem is 256 students wanted their ice cream cones all different, but the school would only give them chocolate and vanilla ice cream. We had to figure out how many scoops per student it took to make them all have different scoops, like binary ,but the problem never mentioned it. Such as, for one digit, it would be 1 and 0 (two different numbers) two digits 11, 10, 01, 00, three 111, 110, 101, 100, 011, 010, 001, 000, ect. I came up with two answers:
Good Student answer: Eight scoops
Smart Alec answer: Send them all to Ben & Jerry’s, and make them buy their own ice cream.
It probably won’t be explained unless you take a computer science class.
My dad’s a computer programmer, so I might take that, just to understand his complaints about all the bugs in the program he’s working on. What he’s working on is just an updated version of the old one, but it has bugs that are incredibly basic to the program
94: That was me just getting used to the blog again. May I have a refill for my tea? I would also like an order of Krumpets.
Krumpets? I’m not familiar with that brand. I assure you the crumpets made here at the H&H are far better than any brand-name ones. I’ll have some of those, as well as more tea, out in a jiffy.
That is how we say it here in England. Who am I kidding? That was just an excuse. *Pies hit Piggy, and I run away*
[Pie confiscated, courtesy of a visiting Pie Gnome.]
Hey, pie throwing is not in any way allowed in this esteemed establishment. Desist.
*walks calmly back in, and wipes pie off of Piggy’s face* Sorry about the pie throwing.
That’s all right. Your crumpets are ready.
Thank you. These are some fine crumpets. Can we throw these cru… Never mind. Sorry, I am a muser.
Hello everyone! I didn’t know that I could post here–I thought one had to have a Gravatar account.
If you are new you should go check out the rules and the welcome neophytes thread. If you want a gravatar, acccount its free.
104–I’m not really new, I know my way around pretty well. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that you had to have a Gravatar or be on MuseBlog for at least one year or something to post on H&H, but then I noticed the “Leave a Comment” button…if I’m not supposed to be here I’ll leave.
105- No, no. All are welcome. Can I get you something to eat and/or drink?
104- For most intents and purposes, you’re newer than vanillabean3.141 is, mas0n, even though you first posted a while ago. You can’t really say, if you post once in, say, 2007 and return in 2009, that you’ve been around for two years, for example. I’m glad you are enjoying the crumpets, by the way. I’ll pass the compliment onto the wungs.
I miss Trader Joe’s! *sniffle*
So may I please have a bowl of reconstituted mushroom tortellini with plain tomato and onion sauce? Thank you. And as long as you’re not too busy, might I also have a peppermint tea with vanilla sugar? Thanks much.
You don’t have Trader Joe’s? My mom practically lives in Trader Joe’s…we get all our food from there.
Here you are.
I went to one in Massachusetts with my aunt and it was pretty cool.
*Gets angry, grabs crumpets, stuffs them in mouth* 106:I posted a lot more than once.Back then, last year, I was as active as I am now. *calms down and sits* Sorry if that sounded rude.
‘Tis the present that matters.
I’m feeling better! Thanks for the soup.
note to self: took too much medicine today
May I have another order of crumpets to go?
Indeed.
Could I please have a Pink Fizz/Zesty Bunny/Bunny Blaster/Whatever name you want to use for that seltzer-and-cranberry-juice drink thing?
I’ve just thought up a new name for it: “Hot-Pink Bubbly.”
Drink name win!
Yes, KaiYves, you could. I’ll mix one up right now for you.
111:While your back there I’ll take one too.
No problem.
Can I have a Hot-Pink-Bubbly too? *puppy dog eyes*
Yes, yes.
*sips* The good thing about virtual food is I don’t have to worry about it giving me a stomachache…… Thank you, Piggy!
May I have a blueberry muffin? They smell really good.
*places virtual tip on table and leaves* Thank you. Have a good day.
114- I believe that is because they are really good. I’ll get you one. Glass of milk?
115- Ooh, I’ve never gotten a tip before! Thank you!
Piggy:*places more money on table* Can you tell me why I can’t find the Paleophyte stuff? I’m signed into my paleophyte account.
116- Ah yes, I do believe a tip from me is overdue, having used these establishments from almost the moment I went on MuseBlog
*virtual tip*
Perhaps I’ll draw a picture of a virtual tip jar. I could scan it into AM’s computer, along with my (in my opinion flamablamablous) picture of Death.
117- There’s a “Paleophyte” category in the drop-down menu underneath the Recent Comments. Try looking there. But it may be some sort of other issue concerning your account, in which case I can’t help you.
118- Why thank you, “Unperson”.
Ahhh, delicious Hot-Pink Bubbly. (It’s funny having “hot” in the name of something cold, isn’t it?)
Perhaps I could formulate a drink similar to it, but hot. (And call it what?) Almost a cranberry cider of sorts, with lime.. Hm… *thinks* Some sort of mulled cranberry cider with a squirt of lime juice for a little zing. Yes, I think that would be a good wintertime alternative for a Hot-Pink Bubbly. But what can we call it? Bunny Cider?
Limeberry Cider?
120:Apocaliptic Bunny Cider (with or without deadly chemicals that turn you into bunny slaves)
121: I don’t think the Piggy’s morales agree to that idea.
*sits in front of fan* Triiiiple digits this week. I don’t waaaant hot weather.
Something cold, please.
107.1: I did. We live in Singapore which is a long way from anything nice. *sniff*
Potato Gnocchi with tomato sauce please.
119- I think I shall give you a tip too. *virtual chocolate tip*
122- Triple digits? On Friday, one of my friends saw her breath while going to school. It’s too cold here! *sits in front of radiator*
Huh? Cold? It’s still warm up here…though I can’t say that it’ll stay this way with the weird TN weather…
Yes, we’re going apple picking today! Yay!
125:Cool!!!! You live in TN. I live in northern MS. Plus, it is really warm here.
mas0n: My mother grew up in Columbia, Mississippi. I spent a lot of time down there visiting relatives when I was Muser-age and younger.
126.1: I live a little farther north than that, but I know where that is.
[Snip. Too-specific geographic information. –Admin.]
Orange County, Southern California. I rant about the weather a lot.
Triiiiiiple diiiigiiiits. *headdesk* *headdesk* *headdesk*
What weather? We didn’t have any when I lived there. Just a brief period devoted to rain, and the rest was all the same.
Here in central North Carolina, the weather seems to change almost every day. Sometimes within a day. Sometimes I’ll have different weather at my house and at my workplace, which is only 3.6 miles away.
*sympathizes* haha in SC me and my sis and mum were cursed. Every time we went to our flamabulous library, it would rain. And as soon as we got into our car (soaking wet, naturally) it would stop raining……
LAdy B.: Our horrible, hot, dry, sometimes humid, weather. IT NEVER CHANGES. *headdesk*
Fireh: It never rains… excuse me, rarely…
122- A Hot-Pink Bubbly? Or maybe some raspberry lemonade?
123- Mm, that sounds good. I’ll have that out in a jiff.
If you want weather, come to Nebraska. We have actual seasons. For instance, the leaves are just beginning to change. So pretty….
114-Sure, why not?
It’s starting to cool down here. I don’t much like winter after Christmas. The anticipation of Christmas lends a sparkle to the cold, but after Christmas the cold is hard and iron gray and the wind manages to cut through every layer you put on. Brr!
I’ll take some chocolate of any kind, please.
How ’bout a variety of chocolate? I’ll pick some of the best for you.
We have a chocolate tree? Cool. Probably an orchard, if you’re picking different varieties.
We are in the Oasis, after all. Our chocolate orchard is just past the doughnut bushes, to the west of the cake garden.
Could I have an assortment of chocolates to? I especially like those ones with macadamia nuts inside.
I’ll take an assortment of your finest chocolates please. Are you selling seeds to from your chocolate producing plants?
Alas, these plants will only grow in the Desert Oasis, so seeds would be useless elsewhere. The assortment, on the other hand, is delicious anywhere. As you wish. *bows*
Do you have any French Chocolate Trees? They’re closely related to the Swiss variety…
Are they related to Swiss Spaghetti Trees?
I doubt it. Chad might be able to decode their genes and figure it out, though.
Would you care to bring me to this said oasis? Then, I could recreate it on a smaller scale, so if you would sell me at least one seed to test, I would be very grateful. *slips money under table* ((cough cough there will be more where that came from cough cough))
134- We’re in the Oasis, silly. It’s in Kokonino County, home of the Muses, as discovered by Larry Gonick. It doesn’t work like the “normal” world. In fact, even though we’re in the desert, we’re also just off the coast of Iceland and in an English hedge maze.
All right, everyone. Let’s go outside and pick some chocolate. I’ll get some baskets.
And we’re one MuseBlog. The H&H is where three realities over lap.
*gets idea for story* *runs to https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=2718 (Books in Progress)* Actually, Writers’ Notebook.
SFTDP
I would like some seeds. To grow in my reclusive garden.
I’m not entirely sure these trees have seeds, actually–at least not that I’ve seen. I’ll dig out a few saplings for you to plant, assuming your reclusive garden is in the Oasis.
It’s in the same type of place this is. MuseBlog, an idealized grassy patch, infinite building materials…
135:I will have to study this virtual oasis.
Sigh. Theres no way to create this place. *grabs basket, begins picking delicious chocolates, and slips a few in my mouth*
Oof, chocolate would be nice. I’ve been trawling through old threads, trying to get a sense of MuseBlog. It’s like going backwards in time–there are continual references to old threads that I add to my list of threads to read.
137:I did the same thing. I am still going through some of them. I wonder how many threads there have been so far.
Thank you, Piggy. It was very satisfactory.
Oh, then may I please have a Caramel Dark Chocolate sapling for my reclusive garden?
Anything that’s good for a stuffy nose, please. Something steamy. Maybe some peppermint tea? Thank you kindly.
Here’s your tea, and I’ll dig out that sapling for you.
Can I have a Mint&Dark Chocolate sapling for my reclusive garden? If it isn’t too much trouble, of course. And….lessee, a cup of ginger tea, please.
Good heavens, you all are going to have me dig up the entire orchard at this rate! But yes, I can get you a sapling. And some tea.
Just out of curiosity, Piggy, did you volunteer to become barkeep?
Ahhhh. *stretch* Loooong day. Fwoof.
I don’t need a sapling. I’ll mooch off other people. Mweeheehee.
*peer* I don’t believe this teashop has a bookshelf. We must fix that.
In addition to becoming the Residential Kira in my GS troop, I shall take on the roll of H&H Bookkeeper!
Now I shall donate my paperback additions of the HP books. I have them in hardback, so it doesn’t matter all that much.
141- Well, “Warner Joes”, a while (about a year) ago, Gwen (Gwendolyn of the Eastern Seas) and I each decided that the H&H needed a barkeep of some sort, so, as the presidential election was coming up, we both entered into a flurry of campaigning to be voted in. I can’t remember quite how it all happened, but in the end we decided to be co-barkeeps. However, as she hasn’t been ’round in ages, the post has been left to me. If and when she returns she will also be able to fill your orders.
142- Oh, well, thank you. Yes, I think more literature in this establishment would be quite nice. Quite nice indeed. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have an errand to run. *begins walking to Oasis Books to procure more tomes*
Can I help? *runs off and finds lots of books* *returns* *starts arranging books in alphabetical order and lining them up very evenly* I’m sure we’ll have some of most everything, but what is everyone’s favorite genre?
Alphabetical order by what? Title? Author? Shouldn’t we be using the Dewey decimal system?
There’s also the Library of Congress system. Or the Lasley House Library lack of system.
Lasely Unsystem? We should use that.
The Dewey Decimal system sounds good. I think the Lasley Unsystem would bother and OCD bloggers.
SFTDP I meant, “any OCD bloggers.” Sorry.
Dewey Decimal is worse for OCD as far as I’m concerned. Drives me insane. Books that should be together are scattered hither and yon.
Anyway, Rebecca’s ancient quarrels aside, this is a tea-room library, not the Bodleian. A fact that suggests we stick with tea-related reading or at least reading conducive to the meditative and salutary art of tea drinking, and that’s going to skip past a fair chunk of the DDS.
By author then. It would be neat if we could have some old, rare(r) books that would be interesting for people to read (Irene Iddesleigh=no one knows what it is, but it’s the funniest book ever).
Thanks, Zinc. We’ll need a bookshelf to keep them on. Does anyone care to build one?
*builds spectacular maple bookshelf with build-in soft lighting and an auto-putter-backer grabbing arm for misplaced books.
It’s beautiful, Kokopelli52! The carvings of waves and whales are stunning. They bring to mind the trip the tea makes over the sea to our cozy H&H.
I have found a way to recreate the oasis. I will need 20 gallons of pie mix and a barrel full of C4.
I can give some old National Geographics for when people want something a little lighter than a book, but still substantial.
I think we should have someone supply us with old muses. I know I have some really amazing back issues.
I had assumed the H&H had subscribed to them since the beginning? If not, then I have no idea what I’ve been reading this whole time.
The H&H is a tearoom, not a library. Complete sets of Muse exist in several places on campus, but the shelves here have room only for the current year’s issues, alongside a select assortment of books.
Makes sense. *whoops*
So then I have many Muses to donate, if we have the shelf space.
Each Muse Academy house has a library; you could donate your collection to yours.
Hmm, I also have a few Smithsonians and some issues of Scuba Diving and Dive Training that I could give.
Hello Piggy, may I have a wung button cake please? Thank you. So. How was everyone’s weekend? I can’t believe no one has been here since the 25th.
You may indeed. Believe me, there have been much longer stretches of inactivity here.
VBpi: On Saturday I was covered in glitter, on Sunday I was dragged along in a dress hunt for my sister, and today I worked on my cell project. Beh.
Piggy: Yeah, I think I remember those…
To the general public: Thank you for all the splendid donations!
On the subject of organization- Lasley house system and DDS would cause headaches. I suggest we organize books by similarity.
*hums* *sets tea on floor* *piles books into neat pile where they are being kept until we can figure out a system*
Oh dear, better move my tea. I wouldn’t like to spill it on the books.
152.1: I have noticed. I hide under the table with a laptop and a wi-fi connection. I’m always here. Mwahahaha!!!!!*creepy laugh*
Can I have some new exotic drink ,and an order of your delicous crumpets not Krumpets. *shivers in pie throwing memery*
Your crumpets I can have for you right away. As for the new exotic drink, do you want a new concoction or something that is drunk in other countries? I don’t understand your request.
154.1:I want new really weird concoction because I’m bored under the table.
How about crushed up cookies mixed with fillet mignon?
May I have a hot chocolate please? With extra marshmallows? There is a raging typhoon outside and I like to feel cosy.
Also, an Earl Grey to help me stay awake to finish my project. Milk, no sugar please!
And do you have any oatmeal cookies? I *heart* oatmeal cookies.
Thank you!
155- I’ll see what I can do.
156- Hot chocolate, tea, and cookies coming right up.
Why thank you, Piggy!
Hello Piggy!
I would also like…a bottle of ginger ale! And vanilla ice cream!
Thank you!
Mmm, both of those sound good. In fact, they could be delicious combined. But I’ll bring them separately, and if you feel the desire to make a ginger ale float, go right ahead.
Oh dear. It seems I have been most neglectful in my speech and am afraid I have not been sufficiently appropriate in the manner in which one conducts oneself in such lovely Tea Rooms such as this that one so often frequents. I believe I owe you profound apologies for this scathing behaviour that one has recently exhibited. I would like so to apologize profusely, and do but beg your forgivenesses, and those of the Most Honourable Proprietors. I certainly do not have any slightest idea as to why such tendencies toward such grievous behaviour would suddenly arise in oneself. But, no matter. I shall now recommence in the most proper and dignified manner possible.
Goodness, what delightful little éclairs! How perfectly lovely! I am rather partial to éclairs, myself. Well, then, a chocolate éclair, please, if you would have it, and perhaps a cup of Ceylon Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings. Britannia, you know, with such pride and prestige that I delight in calling myself part of the Empire. The sun never sets on the British Empire, after all….
Hello peoples! I would absolutely adore a nice chocolate scone with some oragne juice this morning.
160- As you wish. *bows*
161- Would you now? Perhaps I can fetch you those.
I’d like some bouilley… oh, no… bouillai… wait, bouilliabaise… that still doesn’t look right, but you know, that fish stew stuff. Or maybe some cioppino with lots of clams. And perhaps for desert a nice cream puff. And peppermint tea. Thanks much.
