Kokopollihedron
More inspired weirdness from Rebecca Lasley, who writes:
I was just about to shut down at the end of a drowsy, barely functioning day, when I decided to check out how this nifty little polyhedra application I picked up the other day would export to CorelDraw.
Lo, and behold, it did what I hoped it would do and a couple steps better. Just for fun, I added a transparency to the fill. Oooo, cool.
And then I thought
.
.
.
what if I put Kokopelli inside?
Que es esto?
Okay, now my computer will show it. but, still…it is a little… off. It should be our MUSE flag.
That is teh awesome. One of them, anyway. Schveeeeeet…Spiffy…Shiny.
“Life is too important to be taken seriously.”
Put that right below the Kokohedron, add some fancy lettering, and you’ve got yourself some Muse stationery.
FIRST, SECOND AND THUIRD POST!!! YAY!!!!!!!
*stares in awe* Woooow.
I always wondered whether Kokopelli could cast shadows. Now I know.
I fail to appretiate how cool that is.
In other words, it is so cool that it goes off the end of the coolness scale.
Froody
Awesome! I want one . Now!!
FROODYFUL. Can I steal it for my Nationstates flag?
Brilliant! Me wants! *takes* Mwahaha!
pretty! prettyprettypretty!
you could hypnotize someone with that, y’know…
…
AHA! OUR NEW WEAPON!
…
I bet that will become so popular, like the HPBs, and musers wil write to muse saying “I want one!”…
…
“I WANT ONE!”
that is severly awesome. seriously.
Not only does Koko cast shadows, he casts shadows in completely unexpected directions. Very tricky.
cool. purple.
love it. I WANT ONE!!!!!!
Does it come in other colors?
A blue one for my science binder, a green one for my Italian binder…
This is way cool, though.
6/13- They may be reflections…
Wow.
That’s all I can say.
Oh, I love the shapes. *-* -inner graphic designer showing-
Whoaaaaaaaa O__o
That is def goin’ on my desktop!
(17) Yes, but the reflections are casting shadows.
All of it is Kokopelli’s doing. I merely said, yeah, sure, why not? — O fateful words — when he asked whether there were accommodations available on my computer’s hard drive while he was in town buying furniture.
Only later, when things got real quiet, I started wondering what was going on and oh me oh my, you should see what he’s done to my files!!!! I’ll never get things set to rights again.
I caught him red-handed (shadow-handed?) as you can see, just as his tune playing blew up my lovely little triakis icosahedron, scattering it into pieces.
The email Robert quoted on the home page — that’s merely my cover story, written under the watchful eye of You Know Who (at the moment he’s preoccupied with pie tessellations otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this). Anyway, the truth is simply too embarrassing.
. . . though in all honesty, I must admit it’s not the first time I’ve been held hostage by a Muse.
That is pretty neat.
Words cannot express my admiration, so unless this is a real word already, I’ll just make one up. Phantasmagoric!
That is so cool! I think that would be a really cool muse flag. Except maybe we could put all the muses in there so they could all be in the flag. I wonder what that would look like.
Sveet.
That pwns.
Ooh, that’s wicked! It should be our official Muse Banner.
O.O Woah. That. Is. Awsome. Cool!! I’m printing it out and making stickers. Tons of them. *showers everything with endless Koko stickers*
Shweet.
Oh, and I wanted to tell you all a cool picture thingy I drew, so I guess I’ll do it here.
Take a peice of paper and put it on a flat surface, like a clip board or a table or somthing and position it so that the light sorce comes from next to it and above it, so it’s not directly under it. Place a hairbrush, the pofey kind like the ones from conair, net to the paper so it casts it’s shadow onto it. Trace the shadows with a pencil(you can use a pen too, but make sure you can shade with it) and shade in the bristle shadows. I made it so it was mostly bristles and a little pit of back showed, then did it two more times on the same paper. It looks pretty cool. Not as col as the Kokopollihedron, though.
Awesome….
Thats all I can say
Alright, its on my desktop now….Had to say good-bye to “LEISURE RULES” and Ferris looking smooth. If only Macs could do collages on desktops…
I printed it out. Soon, I’ll have stickers every where!! Oh, and my mom want’s to know what you used to create it.
It is a beautiful work of art! You chould send it to the magazine, so that all of musedom can honor it!
Indescribably brilliant. Miss Lasley, we salute you.
dude, that is like totally awsome*

(32) Jadestone, the polyhedron originated in a shareware program called Poly. You can spend hours of mindlessly hypnotised fun twirling polyhedra through space, simultaneously closing and unclosing them at varying speeds. Else you can flatten the shapes and use them for patterns to construct real-world models. The program is available from Pedagoguery Software — easily googled, or, if the GAPAs permit: http://www.peda.com/poly/
[The GAPAs give their dispensation. –Admin.]
The same company makes several math-related programs, including Tess, which creates tessellations. They’ve just posted the results of their 2006 art contest; some of the entries are truly amazing.
Anyway, Step Two. I partially unfolded the polyhedron of my choice and exported it into CorelDraw, where I immediately started to disassemble it, ’cause that’s just the kind of person I am.
When I realized the 3-D quality remained intact, I wondered, could I put something inside? With Kokopelli running loose on my hard drive, I didn’t have to ponder long as to which something that might be. And that’s when the fun really began.
(35) Zyviva — good to know there is now a reliable source for inconsistent accents.
*Still speechless with awe*
36-I used your link, and I couldn’t find anything to do anything of the sort. How do you reach the interface?
Koko du Pelle, look on the menu below the title for “downloads.” Mouse over it for a dropdown list to choose Poly 1.11 for Mac or for Windows. It’s a shareware program — nagware, more precisely — but except for saving files in the native format, everything works. Even without registering, you can export into other formats.
Ooooo…. how much does it cost? *starts cajoling parents into buying it*
I am a modern middle-income safety-conscious hippie.
(Yeah, I want one.)
To get a copy of the picture, click on it and drag it into microsoft word (or appleworks draving, power point etc.) Then just print!
I have Windows, and I can put it into Paint and click “Invert colors”. Ooh, pretty…
I LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Kokopelli.
That is wicked awesome. Coolest thing ssince the hpb thread.
6 – I did too.
13 – That kinda makes sense, though. Doesn’t it?
17 – You may be right.
21 – That too.
It’s so cool! Koko made that?
KOKO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Koko is my king!
*Koko* Go fetch me a pie.
*Zyka* No.
*Koko* SPLAT!!!!
*Zyka* Oops, he had a spare…….
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ITS KOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT IS SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I set it as my background. That is WAAAAY awesome. My parents may not be too happy, though. xP
First I printed a normal one and an opposite color one. Then I printed a washout of the normal one and a grayscale of the opposite color. Only my printer has true-color issues.

i put it as my nationstates flag (The Supreme Muse)
omigosh how did u do that??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
This is fantastic dude!
Ok, that’s just wierd…I like it!
