New on the blog? Come on in! Ballistic pastry and good counsel await you on this thread.
We recommend that newcomers (that’s what “neophytes” means) look over The Rules and The HG2MB (Hitchhiker’s Guide to MuseBlog).
Next, if you’re so minded, stop by Who’s Here (see the menu at the top of your screen) and announce your arrival in a comment there, so we’ll be sure to add you to the official list.
MuseBlog Veterans: Please use this thread only to welcome newcomers as they arrive and answer questions that they ask.
Welcome all neophytes! Don’t be afraid to lurk and ask silly questions. We don’t bite, that’s the HPBs’ job. (Hot Pink Bunnies, someone will explain…)
First post?
Grabbing the first post on a neophyte thread? For shame, bubbles. Whatever happened to setting an example?
And some of us bite, like me, and probably Enceladus! (And Zinc used to be a vampire, so…)
Oops. Sorry if I confused the neophytes. MuseBlog isn’t that hard to understand!
((Lady Bunniful, I love the pie animation.))
SR–I know! I very kindly (for the sake of the GAPAs and not polluting the thread), used all of my will power to refrain from posting at around 1-2 am last night. It was very hard, too, as the random thread wasn’t up yet…..
Oh, and I bite too!
Just kidding…..
The pie animation is super cool, Lady B, I like how you adapted it for this thread. Very appropriate.
I was doing the EXACT SAME THING! However, it was only 10:30 p.m.
*british accent* Eeeew. Why should I bite neophytes when I have a horde of bunnies at my command?
I hate the taste of other people’s blood. ((Not that I’ve ever actually tasted any, don’t worry.))
But I wouldn’t mind biting that pie…
Didn’t it use to be on the Oct. Random Thread? That was cool, moving it here. Welcome, neophytes!I might bite, so don’t provoke me.
Thanks, all. We figured a visible Welcome Pie might help set the mood for arriving neophytes. Pies are wonderfully versatile, and this little animation adapts very easily.
Will this start a new trend for neophyte threads?
Is it just me, or are there a lot of people using this thread for something other than welcoming? Including me, of course…
But I do enjoy the return of the graphic. It’s a wonderful animation.
Of course. It’s always been this way, and sometimes I wonder if everyone can read: MuseBlog Veterans: Please use this thread only to welcome newcomers as they arrive and answer questions that they ask. (Okay, those are my italics, but you get the point). But I’m trying to be nice and not shout at people (directly) lately.
My friend should be coming on here right about now…I’ve been pestering her (Among other people, if you haven’t noticed.) for awhile now. Thankfully this friend does have a lot of time on the computer, so I’m crossing my fingers she’ll stick around for awhile!
Sorry, bookgirl_me if that violates that rule.
Hello, any phyties who are here? MuseBloggers are Cool People who love you! Be scared not, I beseech thee!
My friend apparently forgot…cake. I shall pester some more!
Tell her that we have pie! Heh, heh, heh…
I’m soccer starr’s friend, who won’t stop bugging me about this! Ah! No, actually this looks like a pretty cool site, and she’s right I do have a lot of time on the computer…too much actually. ha ha. She’s pretty much filled me on everything so I don’t have any questions now. I guess that’s it. Happy now soccer starr?!
Welcome, Rosie! I’m sure some airborne greetings will be headed your way before long.
Welcome to the ‘blog, Rosie! And, since Lady B mentioned it……The required “airborne greetings”:
Hello Rosie!

I
hopeKNOW you’ll like it here!Welcome! *deletes extremely large number of exclamtion points*

That is all.
A NEOPHYTE!!! YESSS!
HI, HI, HI, ROSIE! *pies*
Did you know Piggy pied Pseudo eighty-seven times when en was a phytie?
Calm. Please. For my sanity.
And your last sentence…..You realize it’s rather ambiguous as to what you’re trying to say? That is, it could be read that “When Piggy was a phyte, he pied Pseudo 87 times” or “When Pseudo was a phyte, Piggy pied her 87 times”.
Just sayin’.
Hi Rosie!
Welcome Rosie!!! I’m glad you finally came, heh.

You’ve outdone yourself again, Lady B. The Koko animation is bunniful.
Welcome, Phytes! I’m not gonna bother posting a loooooong list of things NOT to do because it just might make you want to scream.
So, welcome to our [not so humble] home away from home in the Mac/PC/Linux/ENIAC whatever, Rosie. Hope you like it here! Now I will burst into song.
“Oooooooooh……this is a story ’bout a guy named Al and he
—-SPLAT!
lived in a sewer with his hamster pal but the sanitation workers
really didn’t approve so he packed up his accordian and had to-”
*begins singing llama song*
‘Ey Rosie. Welcome to Muse Blog!!
I’ve only used 10 pies. Must…resist…pie-ing…
This is a place to welcome neophytes with pies, but not to slam them with pies. If you want to throw pies, please continue this elsewhere.
I agree. This is getting out of hand.
We agree. The competitive pies have fallen to the GAPA Zap of Doom.
Since my post was deleted, Welcome Rosie. I hope more neophytes come than you.
(noncompetitive welcome pies)
Hello. I’m new. Hi.
Hello. You’re new. Welcome!
Hello, D.P. What do the letters stand for? Or is that confidential?

Anyhow, welcome!
Hello. You are new. Hi. Welcome!
Any questions about MB, pies, or life?
Hello. You are new.Welcome!natic!Hi! How did you find us? I may know, if DP stands for Demon Puppy.
Welcome, Rosie and D.P.!!
I’m Silver Lining, resident Bealtemaniac and poet!

Hey! I was going to be the Beatlemaniac!
(Just kidding) Okay, I’ll be the resident Queen-obssessor. Welcome, everyone!

Welcome, um, DP, and anyone else who may have joined who I am too lazy to look back and see what your name is.
I’m Luna, resident, well, I don’t know what I am right now. I’m having a crisis of fandom obsessions. Until a month ago, I’d’ve said resident Pottermaniac, no question. Now……Still like Potter, but I’m not quite so manic about it, as I’m developing new obsessions…..(I develop obsessions quite easily…….)
So, yeah, I’m just Luna, right now, I s’pose. Luna who is becoming increasingly more obsessed with the brilliance that is BBC’s Torchwood, and its star actor, John Barrowman……
*sigh* Yup. Luna, resident obsession former, at your service.
Welcome D.P.

Hi muse blog, I just now found out about this place, and have been looking through it for the last ten minutes. This place is AWESOME. I am a long time muse reader (5 years), and an animator, video game maker, writer, artist, Kokopelli loving person. I’m thinking I’m going to be here for a while, it’s great to meet you all.
Hi Matchboxdan! Glad to have you here, and I hope you do stick around!

Great gravatar, by the way!
And you need pies. They’re friendly, don’t worry.
Welcome, Matchboxdan. I see traditional greetings are already headed your way. What sort of art and animation do you do? You might want to check out our Visual Arts thread, if you haven’t found it already.
Welcome! MB’s great, isn’t it? I, sadly, have almost no artistic ability whatsoever.
Welcome, Matchboxdan!
You’ve been reading Muse for even longer than I have. (3 years. Although recently my sub expired so I’ve been frantically rushing to the library to read the latest copies in recent months. Until Christmas or my b-day when I hope to get the mag once again. But enough about me. How are you?)
Hi DP and Matchboxdan!!!
Friendly fire!
Hello, Matchboxdan! Welcome to this flamablamablous place! You seem pretty intelligent and your hobbies are that of many MuseBloggers, so yes, I’d say it looks like you’ll be here a while…*ominous laughter* Anyway. Here comes the pie, doo-doo-doo-doo:

We need more neophytes! All the pies will go bad!!!
LKB, not that many neophytes are good. You came in a time when there were very many, but usually there aren’t. In fact, the paleo threads were founded in part because the older MBers felt overwhelmed by the amount of neophytes. Not having many is not a bad thing.
Thanks for all the welcomes! I got… uh… grounded for a while so I haven’t been on. Any way, Ill try and answer the questions I saw:
1- The letters D.P. stand for Dead People. It’s a code Keiffer, Pseudonym, and I use. (Comment # 18.2)
2- Keiffer and Pseudonym answered all my questions. 42. (Comment # 18.3)
3- If you couldn’t have guessed, Pseudonym and Keiffer got me started with my MB obsession. (Comment # 18.5)
That’s it I think.
Dead People? How morbid.
Well, uh….Hi, Dead People. (Person? Peoples? ppl?) I’m *ahem* eragon, the somewhat weird
alienpredatorhuman. This is, as you might have guessed by the notable title, the MuseBlog, our place of worship to the wonderful dots of ink and crayon so titled “New Muses” by one Mr. Larry Gonick. Two Words to Know:
1. Pie. Noun [pu-ehye]. A baked crust filled with fruits or meat [see Pot Pie] to be eaten by a human, a Wug, or a Muse. Generally delectable, except when filled with rubber mice.
2. Pie’d. Verb [pu-eie’d]. To receive a pie [see Pie] sharply in the face or other appendage. Generally thrown by a MuseBlogger [see Muse] at another MuseBlogger (commonly abbreviated “Muser”) in an act of defiance/spite/will to dominate all life in middle earth/42, and/or the sudden urge to make the large bulbous-headed depressed robot named Marvin shut up. Symbolized
.
General Things:
PLEASE NO CAPS LOCK.
Be yourself, just don’t be like me.
Have lots of fun.
We know you. Or, we will. So feel at home and squeeze into the Hare and the Hedgepig for a cup of tea and a chat.
I’m rambling on again, aren’t I? I’ll shut up now.
Well, that’s about it. (Don’t worry be happy. Wooohoo ooo oo oooh la la la laaa dee dee dum….)
P.S.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy sells somewhat better than the Encyclopedia Galactica, as it tells you how to make a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, a most powerful alcoholic drink, invented by one Zaphod Beeblebrox. The Guide also mentions that a single sip will feel like getting hit over the head by a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick.
-eragon.
Sorry, I just started here, and was already gone for 3 days, I’ll try to be more active, and thanks for the greetings guys! Rebecca, I do flash animation, similar to the one above. I will check that thread out, thank you.
Actually, please don’t post more often than you find natural. If you start to force yourself to post 50 comments a day, most of them become PoPos, which no-one likes. Please, only post when you feel like posting.
Although, it is nice when people stick around for more than a week…
Okay, we should be getting another ‘phyte pretty soon. She doesn’t get Muse, so we’re going to have to explain a lot to her. So, get ready for a rather confused neophyte who has no idea why we’re throwing pies at her!
Horray!!!!!! *readies welcoming pies*
