It’s on Friday or Saturday, depending on where you live.
Technically, autumn arrives in the Northern Hemisphere on Saturday, September 23, at 4:03 a.m. Universal Time (UT). That’s 5:03 in the morning British Summertime; three minutes after midnight U.S. Eastern Daylight Time; 11:03 p.m. on September 22 U.S. Central Daylight Time (=blog time); and 9:03 p.m. on September 22 on the American West Coast.
You’ll have to make adjustments if you’re in Arizona, which doesn’t observe Daylight Saving Time. And, of course, for New Zealand and the rest of the Southern Hemisphere, this is the spring equinox. Whew.
Whoooooo!
ok it’s 9:03 tonight….i’ll remember that and surprise my family with my amazing knowledge of exact equinox time tonight!
Huzzah for the Equinox!
can you do something on the equinox? i seem to remember something about balancing an egg for spring, but what about fall?
Time zones in the US have serious issues. Doesn’t Illinois or Indiana or someplace have some counties that are in one time zone and some in another? It was the plot of a Season 4 West Wing(that was a TV show, but it was cancelled) episode. And Arizona doesn’t celebrate Daylight Savings Time. I can’t wish anyone a Happy Equinox at the right time, though, because they’re asleep.
Indiana was like that but recently changed.
Yay for Fall! The season of my birthday (which, incidentally, is in 8 days)!!!
Urgh! Why does my birthday have to be in fall? It just misses my favorite season, Summer.
Coolio.
11:03 pm? Wish I’d be awake for that, but our homecoming is tomarrow and I have to get up early and march in the parade with the band(go flutes!) Our cadence’s are really cool. That was totaly off topic, but whatever.
Jeez, the goddess of chaos is sad!????? my birthday is in the middle of winter!!!!!!!!!
my best friend’s a wiccan so i haven’t really heard the end of everything she planning to do for the equinox.
oh well,fall approacheth
WAIT!!!!!!!! Arizona doesnt do daylight savings time????
weird!
My birthiday in in JANUARY so Everybody is sick and can’t come to my party. I’ve stopped holding parties. i think that time zones are confusing but necessary.
It passed by with a pleasant whooshing sound as I was watching Monty Python.
Yeah we Zonies don’t do Daylight Savings…in fact.. this is kinda sad, but I didn’t know what it was until sometime last year. I mean, I had heard of it but I didn’t really get it.
This september is weird. This time last year it was still stinky hot but it’s cooling down much more quickly this year. I love autumn. It’s my favorite season, I think. I like the light in the evening, and the sunsets and the thought of halloween and pumkins.
It’s just after the time that the prickly pear fruits have ripened and been picked, and now we’re eating the jam every morning for breakfast. And the desert is so pretty, I can barely contain my glee.
(9) cool! Our homecomings not for another week or so. Have fun! Marching band pwns
Meh. I’m Monty Python’d out. I just watched all the Flying Circus videos, and I am forced to wonder why on earth they decided to put John Cleese in drag and call him someone’s wife. (All the members of the troupe were someone’s wife at one time or another; Eric Idle was alarmingly good at it. I actually thought he was a woman until I realized that it was only him in drag. And then I laughed very very hard.)
Dinsdale? Dinsdale? DINSDALE?!
We’ve been having an abnormally cold fall in Iowa, too. Maybe it’s a sign……
OR it’s just cold. Take your pick.
Our homecoming’s next week! I love dress-up days!
YAY! Happy Fall/Autumn!!
Leaves. yippeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
Oh!! Yay!! It’s fall…… Yesterday we had a tornado warning and had to seek refuge is our basement… Pretty scary, coupled with the fact that it was hailing like heck….
I did my first (Wiccan) Autumn Equinox celebration yesterday. It actually wasn’t that interesting, but I had a very meaningful meditation after that…The equinox probably brought it on.
18) when I lived in Oklahoma, there were only two times where a tornado came close to us. Once it was really late at night, and my mom woke my sister and me up, plunked us in the tub with our blankets, and we fell to sleep. Boring, I know. The second time, my dad had to run outside to get the tarp off of our playset we had, because or else it would have blown away, and he came back in and his hair was all messy, which was funny because he has pretty short hair.
Hehe.
yay its spring. did you put the bit about NZ for me?
my b-day is march 4 which is great cause it’s the only day of the year that’s a command! (march forth)
5-i saw that!
that was funny…
(19) what do you do for an autumn equinox celebration, emogrl?
16-Hmm…it’s pretty cold in Michigan, too. And homecoming (for the ps-ers) is next weekend, too. What does your dress look like, just out of curiosity? I like hearing about dresses…. =)
We need a Monty Python thread…
p*ease?
and a Seinfeld thread.
26,27-YES!!!!! YES!!!!! Yes to both!!!!! =D
#24: Basically…It involves a lot of candle-lighting, kneeling and standing, and thanking the God and Goddess for a good harvest…LOL
29-Hmm. Doesn’t sound too bad……lol was it fun?
No, It was actually kinda boring! ^_^
Oh, that’s too bad…well, now you not to do it next year, right? =D
Oops…”know” was supposed to be in that sentence.
red:crazy me
34-Mm-k.
