I have a dog named Fang. I think she can talk.
Oh. We have about a million Madagascar hissing cockroaches and two cats as pets (Ginger and Beth.) I saw a woodpecker on the bus ride home on Monday. It was white with a red head. Not ivory-billed. Not that I would see one in the middle of Pittsburgh, but you know…
I love birds. I absolutely love the aviary here, with the parrots and all. I could sit for hours watching and talking to and imitating the birds there. :&hearts:
I had a dream about two amazing nice kittens, Rocky, who was a light ginger tabby, and Sugar, who was white with tiny dark ginger spots. If we see kittens or cats like them at the Humane Society, we have to get them. They were the sweetest cats.
Meh. I will murder the darn smilies. I meant either :♥ or ;♥ or ♥ (whichever looks like a black heart) not :&hearts: Sorry. That is the one smiley that never fails to confuzzle me.
*fourth post dance*
DRAGONS (and unicorns and sphinxes and pheonixes and centaurs and mermaids etc……….)!!!!!!!!!! oh, and wungs if anyone ever bothers to go back to that thread. I really want a pet, a dog preferably, but mi madre es allergic to everything with hair, fur or feathers. I’d like to get a snake because they’re pretty awesome, but I think my dad wouldn’t like one in the house. At volleyball, the team was in the science lab and me and this one other girls were the only people who could hold it without freaking out! I don’t get it. Snakes are cool.
I have a cat named StellaLuna (star moon in italian). smartest animal in the world = doesn’t do a thing all day.
g’mornin.
Wow! I didn’t know the thread would be started so fast! I was playing in the snow, and just got back inside. That’s why I haven’t written yet. Thanks, Gapas!
Good morning to you, Em, but you posted that this afternoon! (is confuzzled) Em, look out for the POPOPO!
Anyway, my favorite bird is not the Red-tailed Hawk, but the Dark-eyed Junco (a kind of sparrow.) Why then, did I decide to make that my name? Because the hawk is cooler 8) than the HUMBLE JUNCO. CAPITAL LETTERS MAKE THE JUNCO LOOK HUMBLE, DON’T THEY?
It’s sooooo coooooool 8) that I got to start a threeeeeeaaaaad!
hellooooooo
is it me again!
i like animals!
7 – Hawks are cool. I see six or seven of them around here in one year. However, they are often attacked by large groups of other birds. i remember a few years ago when these crows kept on attacking one right in our backyard. I went out and scared the crows away, but I think the hawk died.
8 – Alerting POPOPO! Nah, I guess most people like animals.
5 – Sounds like my friends’ cat. Just kinda sits there and looks at you like “what are these big pink idiotic creatures doing? Oh well, at least they feed me.”
HORSIES!!!!!!!!!
and doves. That’s what I would be if I were an animal.
8-In your stupidity, please try not to shoot any animals! That would make me Who are you, stupid cupid? I have just seen the real cupid during my aerial patrols. Why must you offend him?
I like LEMURS!!!
*hophop* *climb*
COWS COWS COWS COWS COWS COWS COWS COWS COWS COWS COWS COWS cows are the awesomest animals in the WORLD and in the universe and everywhere else. they are cool and sweet and big and strong and smart and………………………… I could go on all day! HAHA, this is a good thread for me since i live on a farm. I also have a pig, but i don’t like him, he thinks he’s a calf so he eats the calf feed, but he has to step in it to reach so he makes a mess. and i have lots of cats and chickens and i’m getting a dog and i used to have rabbits and i used to have a cat that used the toilet, i’m not kidding, seriously, he used the toilet.
end of rant… I just really like animals and i’m tired so i’m being a little crazy
Lemurs are awesome!!!! Especially the dancing lemurs!!!!!!!! They live in Madagascar. Sorry, just had to blurt that out. I’ll shut up.
DUCKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
14-I like to move it, move it. *dances* That song is mildly annoying. Yet amazing. Just amazingly annoying i guess. Or not. Idk.
Speaking of which, this is the entirely wrong thread for it, but who thinks there’s such a thing as country rock? Hecht claims there is, hewwit and i think there isn’t. Hunter invoked the eagles, but they aren’t country at all, except for a few songs that might be at a stretch, but nothing is both at the same time. Isn’t it entirely oxymoronic? Idk, what do you people think? /probably you should move this discussion to the random thread but i g2g so i can’t bye
cows rule
i lovvvveeeee cows they make the world go round!
so do elephants but not as much
17- and octupuses! they are cool—they can open a can with their tentacles
15- HAHA, yeah, right…
There is one animals that pwns all those animals. The awesomest of animals: The Hot Pink Bunny!
Seriously, how can you guys resist them?
19- *slaps self in head* of course!!! How could we forget!!!!!???
Frogs! Ribbit!
About 2/3 of the seventh grade dissected frogs. Cruel! I was in the remaining third, who did it on the computer. One frog instead of multiple. But I don’t like the name of the program… FroGuts? That is so mean!
I like horses, I like doves, I like lemurs, I like ducks, I like cows, I like octopuses, and I like frogs! I like alllllllllllllllllll of theeeeeeee aaaaannnnniiiiiiiiimmmaaaaaallllllllssssss!!!!!!!!
heeheehee…
I must stop going crazy over the animals. Hey, check out the music thread, too.
22- lol.
I don’t exactly have a fav. animal. Too bad we don’t know what everyone looks like… then we could like.. decide what animals they look like! that would be fuuuuun… or maybe on their personality. Also would be fun. I did that in school during lunch. ’twas fun.
YAY! I got number 24! my lucky number!
The birds, etc. are walking on top of the snow! I can even walk on top without sinking because there is a crust on the snow.
Who does know the crow girls? which gapas have read de Lint?
[That’s veryvery secret.]
25 – the GAPA’s way of saying, “none of us.” (haha, no. Just guessing).
I like elephants, they’re one of my favorite animals (I went to South Africa, and we got to see tons of them in the wild..they’re really amazing creatures), but I’m also a bit scared of them. My teacher worked for the Peace Corps in Cameroon, and when her mom visited her she was killed by a rampaging elephant. And one of the elephants at our zoo killed a zookeeper. So I’m a bit afraid of them. But I also really like them.
25: I don’t know the answer to either of those questions, e~a. I’ve considered reading de LInt, though. Which de Lint would be a good one to start with?
My favorite animal is the prairie dog, which is evident from my name. Prarilius=prairie, Canix=dog. Does anyone else like inventing imaginary creatures?
(16) No. Country is country and rock is rock. They are immutable. An excellent word. I learned it from The origin of species. Not sure it entirely fits in this context, but oh well.
Animals are cool. I’m rather fond of wombats meself.
(28) There’s a really cool prairie dog exhibit at the wildlife museum-slash-zoo thing near where I live. They have a viewing area for the above ground area, and then a glass panel where you can look into the underground burrows like an ant farm.
Is anyone here familiar with Peter Singer?
(25),
I do. I have.
The manta ray says: “WE’RE IN UR OCEANS… …KILLING UR CELEBRITEES!”
28- Inventing imaginary animals is fun. I do it all the time in my novel that I’m writing, though I can’t really remember all the names sometimes. I have to go back and check.
31- ha ha. I’m guessing you mean Steve Irwin. That was saaaaaad…….
26- no, that’s the gapa’s way of speaking like the crow girls.
27- I started with Someplace to be Flying. It’s a good one to start with, plus you get to meet the crow girls! Then, I might read Waifs and Strays which is a collection of stories of his that are catagorized as young adult, but I think it’s helpfull to meet some of his main characters (he has a group of newford characters that are seen in various books. They aren’t a series really, just connected books. There is a chronological order in newford time for them, but it doesn’t really matter what order you read them in, though I have heard that The Onion Girl (which I haven’t yet read) is better to read once you know a lot of his characters.) After Waifs and Strays I’d start reading his Newford collections in any order. These are Tapping the Dream Tree, Dreams Underfoot, Moonlight and Vines and The Ivory and the Horn.
30- which books? I take it you’re the gapa who’s being veryvery sneaky and writing in my posts^_^ so I take it you’ve read Someplace to be Flying or something with the crow girls…
31- aww. Poor Steve. Let’s hope they don’t hit Jeff.
13- Heckyes.
I lurve a animals in general. No favorite(besides cows).
YAYFERANIMALPLANET.
26 was me. Looking the “name” section before I post is something I rarely do. Maybe that’s why I was so bad at the Alter-ego threads.
I’m reading Someplace to be Flying. I really like it so far!
36- I’m glad! heh, I don’t much either, hence the really long title being on the last post of mine on this thread. As for the alter ego threads, if very many people had read someplace to be flying when the first one was alive, they would have guessed me right away as I used the name crow girl and I’m the one who keeps recommending Someplace to be Flying.
36- When I go to the library eventually, I shall check out Someplace to be Flying and read it.
Eventually= Friday
Animals are tasty.
my best friend just got this adorable baby bearded dragon(lizard that puffs out its neck all victorian collar style), and it is so tiny that it can fit in the palm of my hand!
(39) I know they are, but I don’t think that’s what this thread is about. Right? Uh… What is it about?
Though I must say that redpandas are awesomenessness!
The crow girls are amazing!
40-thatis so cool
i like cats, i have an orange tbby named pixie, male. i also like the sphinx cats, the hairless ones. they are adorable. i would love to have one and pet it and pet it and playwith it.
i alsolike werewolves even though they scare me and i like yoshi. he’s a turtle right?
umm what are crow girls?
35- haha, cows RULE!!!!!
39- yes they are…
45- the crow girls are two girls who are veryvery energetic and sugar loving, as well as brave. Their appearence is rather crow-like. They are characters in Someplace to be Flying by Charles de Lint as well as some of his short stories.
40- cool!
I want a guinea pig. I guinea pig-sat my friends guinea pig once and he was rather cute. I don’t have any pets right now. I like birds.
I also like pets such as dogs, cats and guinea pigs that one can pet.
40- omg those are sooooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want one!!!!!!
FIRST HAWK SIGHTING OF YEAR!!!!!!! (well, for me)
Hawk flew over the car on the way back from the orthodontist’s. I now get to have my mouth stuffed full with three rubber bands. Oh joy.
49 – cool! (about the hawk, not the rubber bands). My neighbor has a hawk living somewhere near their house (they’re not sure where, but the hawk is always in their backyard). They just got kittens, so whenever they let them outside they have to watch them, because the hawk could pick them up…
49, 50- I see hawks in a lot of places around here. Mostly on the highway ontop of the light pole thingys. Really cool.
50- I found a dead hawk in our barn…they are pretty…
anyone know how much bearded lizards cost?
52- Aw, that’s sad! But yes, they are pretty. In a fierce way. Bold, really.
52- I don’t like dead things. Especially dead goldfish. I always have problems with burying them.
Or dead hamsters.
I just feel really sick, even though I love animals and they don’t exactly look much different dead, it just…
HAWKS! YAY!
55-One time I caught a firefly and put it in a bug-jar. I forgot to let him out, and I accidentally left him in it overnight. I found him dead in the morning. I was SO ! I held a whole funeral, and buried him, placing a few pretty stones around the grave and left some little wildflowers on it.
i caught 3 fireflies in a jar once, and kept them by our hottub…bad idea
i love ANIMALS
56- Aww… That was nice of you though.
58-Animals are BOMB.
Except, I think it’s like birdy mating season, and there’s a whole bunch in a tree right next to my school. We had fitness Friday, and I turned to look at them while running(because they’re so cute) and then the next second I hit a metal pole.
It hurts.
59-Ouch! Sounds like somthing I would do!
Did anybody do the Great Backyard Bird Count? (I saw a red-tailed hawk, actually )
60-I have done it before, but not this year. I also count birds for Cornell’s Project Feeder Watch. I saw a hawk the other day, but I couldn’t tell if it was a Red-tail or not, but at our local park there is a Red-tail claiming the brush by the road.
60- Didn’t Muse do an article on some sort of bird count, way back when, once?
Oink!
Moo!
Quack!
Meow!
Ribbit!
(63-67) um… you’ve been warned by PoPoPo #42.
I’m thinking about making a documentary type thing this summer about wildlife in Northern Michigan (a specific place in particular, but that is CONFIDENTIAL information). There are a lot of interesting birds there.
we found a dead fox in our barn once… many years ago…. don’t remember it….. memory fading……. I LOVE HAIRLESS CATS!!!!! the sphynx or whatever you call them…. i would love to have one …. but for now i have pixie my beautiful orange taby whom i love w/ all my heart!!!!!!
63-67: The only bird noise was a quack! Where was the “keer’?
70- right here \
KEEEEEEEEEER
COCA-DOODLE-DOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I once was like 5 feet away from a hawk, but it flew off before i could identify it
Except, I think it’s like birdy mating season, and there’s a whole bunch in a tree right next to my school. I LOVE HAIRLESS CATS!!!!!
look my site to [snip! no links, please. –Admin.]
68 – fr00dy! Is it around Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and the Platte River? There are Piping Plovers there, and their nesting grounds are always roped off during the summer (amid all of the tourists on the other side of the beach)
72 – Sweet. Hawks are always so fun to watch.
hey guys speaking off animals, what ever happend to Admiral Penguin?
He was last sighted on the Random Thread on Valentine’s Day.
o i wanted to know because Admiral pied me first. i belive it was choklit strawberry
i talked 2 a red tailed hawk yesterday
78-YOU TALKED TO A RED-TAILED HAWK YESTERDAY??!!!! You are lucky. We are shy most of the time. Maybe I know the same Hawk you talked to?!
Has anyone seen a picture of a desman? Or a saiga? Weird-looking animal prize.
79- i don’t think so unless you live in MN
80- i have seen a pic of a saiga
62-I dunno. There was that whole bird issue… That made me happy.
i didn’t acually see the hawk
I like the okapi, which is the only non-extinct relative of the giraffe, an the loris, which is a monkey. I say a Pileated woodpecker on the way to school!!! Any one heard bout the Ivory Billed Wood pecker? It lives in florida and there are only 2 or 3 left. they are almost extinct.
Yes, I heard about it. It’s (hopefully) still alive. Although I didn’t think the surviving ones/one lived in Florida. There was an article about them (when they were “extinct”) in Muse.
I’m afraid the ivory-billed woodpecker is looking extinct again. Other researchers have seriously questioned the evidence that it still exists, and most experts now think the sightings were a mistake. They’re not sure, but the signs aren’t good. Stay tuned…
84- There MIGHT be some in Florida, but the scientists are mainly searching in Arkansas. Do people normally go back in previous month’s threads to post? I saw “Ivory-bill” in the recent post box and clicked. , And now, everybody stay tuned, because I unvail the ! Never done that before, except in my tester-post!
They think that a version of the ivory billed may be in cuba, but since no one can get there they don’t know. Ha, Arkansas. Yeah right. The book, The Race to Save the Lord God Bird is very good about the subject.
ok so ivory billeds might be in cuba or arkansas kinda a stretch but sure
