I have no idea how we wound up with three MC3 threads, but I’ve zapped two of them into oblivion. Loved the MuseCast. Kokonventions (offblog inter-Muser encounters, for you newcomers) are becoming a regular theme, aren’t they?
I tried to listen to it, but my parents are trying to sleep in, so I was playing it really quietly, and I couldn’t understand anything. I will come listen when I won’t have to put my ear right up to the computer speekers!
By the way, who wrote the song?
The melody is from Seussical and Panda wrote the words.

5 – I wrote and sang the song. But you probably won’t hear it again, since I hate it. We’re considering Kiki’s song from MuseCast #1 to be the next intro-song. It’s just her voice, so THF and I may write something for Violin and Piano to accompany it.

Interesting. How did you manage to get all the sound files together? How did you get k8 the gr8 and other people interviewed?
(I have never listened to a MuseCast before, this is the first one.)
To listen to the previous MuseCasts, just search it in the search bar and threads will come up.
We didn’t interview kt the gr8. Did you mean Kiki The Great? We got her and Penty’s voices through iChat and Skype, through voice conferencing. Margaret recorded hers by herself then sent it to us. We then edited everything using Garage Band (a mac program), and exported it to iTunes.

Hmm… I could be on one, I suppose. We have an external mike and VF managed to get on one, so it would work for me too. I doubt if I have enough time though. Plus I don’t like the way my voice sounds recorded. *hides* Not that it’s much better normal, either.

21 – We’ve figured out a way to audio conference, etc. with Windows/Macs…Margaret and Penty also have non-mac type computers. You can talk to Margaret, and I think you can also send stuff to the GAPAs and they can send it to us.
Ebeth and Jadestone – we actually had voice files of you for the April MuseCast, but they got deleted for some reason when we were clearing out the hard drive.
We would love to have anyone and everyone on MuseCast!
24- Really? I have a microphone. I need software for recording stuff, but it has to be somewhere online. I don’t have anything to talk about, though. Does anyone have a random topic?
Microphones? On a computer? *is truly confuzzled* I have a mac, and I don’t see any microphone… Would somebody mind telling me where it is on the sort of “round-bottomed” macs with a flat screen? OK, wait… I just looked in system pref. and I think it’s inside… So “musecast” is only for taking votes, or do they sometimes play songs?

16-if you dont have macs, theres a really good open source (or at least freeware) audio editing program for windows/ some ubuntu called audacity or summat. one can google it.

Hmm, seems like a lot of people want to be interviewed. Just a suggestion, but maybe you could devote a section of the Musecast to an interview, one per episode. It would be awesome to hear everyone being interviewed.

One question: what exactly is a “pretty obvious skirt”? The MuseCast is great as always though. I want to be on one. i also want a kokonvention. I think we’ve already established that i’m the only one in the L.A. area though. Is there anyone around D.C.? I’ll be going there around the end of may for the national spelling bee.

I work in Washington, D.C., and last year the national spelling bee took place in a hotel a block from my office. So any Musers who are in town this year are more than welcome to a GAPA-guided tour of Science magazine and a Coke from our vending machine. My treat. (We GAPAs are generosity incarnate.)

Ooh! D.C.??? I live about 4 hours from there, and my cousins/aunt/uncle live there (not for long…my aunt and uncle work for the State Department and are moving to Croatia next year), so maybe I can convince my parents to take me there.

Emmatheduck- Congrats on the National Spelling Bee!
I live about an hour out of D.C. I encourage everyone to come to our wonderful city *semi-sarcastic* But really, if you push aside all the touristy stuff and the poverty and the government, it’s actually a pretty nice place. The cherry blossom festival is coming up, which is really beautiful. You can rent a peddleboat and go out on the Potomac (well, it’s sort of an artificial basin, but it’s fed by the Potomac) and see all the pretty pink trees.
Speaking of Kokonventions, is there going to be another one in Evenston soon? Me+VF could probably go, my hockey seasons over (tehcnicly…but as mom says, “It never really ends. But it’s just clinics and skills for a while. So I could probably go) so we most likely would make it.
37-Hey, I’m from MI…about how far are you from Detroit, time-wise? I think the GAPA’s will let that through, considering that that leaves you with a big area in which to live.

25 – We’re considering basing the April MuseCast on Shakespeare, because it’s his birthmonth and because I’m doing a huge research project on him. But if you don’t want to talk about Shakespeare, just say anything. Find factoids online to tell us, and do whatever. If you want to talk about something in school you find interesting, froody, something about Pwt’s gender would be flamablamablous. Anything about the Musery Loves Company stuff would rock, because we’ve been wanting to give it a review.
27 – Not necessarily. But if it’s an old-fashioned round iMac, then there is no microphone on the HAWK’s computer.

We’re not 100% sure about all the dates, but i will definitely be in D.c. for May 27-june 1. we will probably be coming about 10 days before that, though part of that time will be in Williamsburg. We could also stay a few days after tha bee (which would be the beginning of june) if that’s when works best for other people.

39-Don’t count on it. there are 286 people in the national spelling bee, and i think only about the top 50 make it onto TV. the chances that I will be one of them are pretty slim.

Oh, yeah – search M and Ms in the iTunes store, and click on the song that says M and Ms – Season 1 for an hour or so of the wierdos at my school. Skip all the way to the back, and you’ll find me ranting. And don’t make fun of my voice, I had just gotten my retainer in! They get better as the podcast goes along. Unofrtunately, only one of the 11 I’ve made are out. If I can get my own equiptment, I’ll branch out from the slow people at school and make my own.
Eugh, one last thing. Many believe, Purple Panda, that the entire person of William Shakespeare was a fictional character that was part of a conspiracy. Christopher Marlowe, a guy who wrote plays briefly before Shakespeare’s time, was killed in a bar brawl by a knife, and some think he was an anti-protestant spy, since the Reformation was going on at that time. Anyway, the theory is he faked his own death and continued writing as William Shakespeare.
People considered it divine proof when Much Ado About Nothing – or maybe it was MND, I’m not sure – was credited to Marlowe.

I’ve never heard before that Shakespeare didn’t even exist, but i have heard that he didn’t write his plays. I think it’s all ridiculous. there’s no good reason to think that he couldn’t have written them hiself.

On the REAL topic, anyone’s who’s on AIM, iChat, or Skype should be able to join in on MuseCast.
If you want something on MuseCast, you can probably record it and send it to the GAPAs, and they can send it to us…but I’m not 100% sure, because we haven’t really ever asked the GAPAs if they would do that for people.

70-I got 1st at a math competition last year. And then I got 9th at states. I would tell you the name of the competition, but that would really easily identify me. (You could look it up online) Anyways, that’s cool! Is Math Counts nationwide?
Saturday June 2. I doubt it. I may be able to come on another day, but I’m not sure. If there’s any way you could come to Muse, PA or somewhere like that (which is probably highly unlikely), that would be really cool!

72-Again, I’d tell you the name, but…yeah. It was in my home state (Washington) and for the individual awards you had to take a 40 question test. This year I got 3rd with a score of 25/40. xD
72-nope. not on this trip at least. What days might work for you? we’re going home on june 3, so nothing later than what i said. Earlier is unsure. there are lots of activities during bee week so doubt i’d have time then, maybe beffore bee week though but i’m not sure.
