I am. I helped my mother in the kitchen for hours earlier, which was lots of fun, and then sat around drinking tea, reading, and very daringly making my mother’s Christmas present in front of her (but don’t tell. She doesn’t know yet). So yeah. Some random points:
1) I like A Darkling Plain.
2) I like Predator’s Gold and Mortal Engines better.
3) Ginger-lemon-honey tea is very good.
4) I like emails.
5) I’m very excited for Christmas in four days (Christmas Eve in three).
6) I hate it when my sister has friends over because they always gang up on me and try to get into my bedroom and they seem to think that all teenagers should be neatly paired off and they try to set me up with the friends brothers.
7) I miss MuseBlog greatly.
8) Entropy has turned the house into a mess.
9) I need to go clean my room.

18- I’d be careful if I were you. I got a WOW demo from GameStop one time, and in the ten days of my trial version, I got really into it. I then took a step back and went, “Hey, this game isn’t even that fun, and all this character is is a bunch of electrical impulses. It isn’t me, and if I concentrate on its growth, I won’t grow as a person.” What addicts need to realize is that they have a real life, and if they neglect that in favor of the game, then it will diminish until their only accomplishments are level games. I enjoy playing video games recreationally, but I draw the line: I do other stuff too. I wish you luck in your game, but I advise you to take care.
Besides, WOW wasn’t that good of a game, and I’ll be damned if I pay more than the purchase price for something. Monthly fees? Feh!

A few friends of mine got me to stand with a plastic rose by the locker of this girl and give it to her “because she needed it for a science project”. Today was spectacular, as it was the last day of school before winter break. Algebra 2 wasn’t too bad, we learned how to do a bunch of new graphing stuff. We learned more quantum mechanics in Chemistry (which is amazing), and we finished Schindler’s List in World Cultures. Yes, it was extremely sad. Then we went to see the holiday show during Literary Arts. We were dismissed from school early, simply because the holiday show ended early. I went ice-skating again with four of my friends, and it was really fun! One of them took skating lessons for 5 years, so she taught us all how to skate backwards and spin around and stuff, so that was really cool!
I’ll be off to bed soon, after checking a few more threads, but I’ll see everyone tomorrow and I hope everyone has a flamablamablous day/week/month/second/whatever. !:D!:D!

60-you know, i started one of those once. got pretty far too, up to book 5. then i was like “what’s the point, really? that’s what the lexicon is for!” i think i did find a minor character that wasn’t on there though. (like, VERY minor. like random name) i was going to email them about that, but i don’t remember if i ever did…
so ebeth went to bed at 8 AM
and then got up at 10. 2 hrs sleep seems to be my minimum amount if i don’t want to be a zombie the next day. 2 hrs and food. food is good. it was a sleepover at bill’s. we got up at 5 in the morning to make ramen. fuuun times. anyway, it was me and dan and bill, so dan’s name for the night was leeny (for my parents) and we named the salt and pepper shakers andy and hewitt (for his parents).
bill has the weirdest videogame. i forget what it’s called, but it’s like the karoke games except with really old rap songs. (the only ones we knew were baby got back and california love…) we were SOOO BAD
it was fun though. then we played the actual singing one and did much better.
we also watched hairspray and shrek and some weird anime and played more games
but apparently i have to stay home most of today, because i haven’t really been home all break except to sleep occasionally…

I’ve gotten an extreme craving for risalamang. It’s a rice pudding that has tons of chopped almonds, and it is served with cherry sauce. Then, to top it all there’s one whole almond hidden in one of the bowls of risalamang, and the person who finds it wins… a marzipan pig. DEEEE-licous. It’s eaten once a year, on chrisrmas eve.
By the way, there is an excelent movie called Ginger Snaps. It’s about a girl who becomes a werewolf, and her twin sister is, of course, not one. But then, how being a werewolf changes her. It is actually really good and a lot more complicated than it sounds… I was obsessed by it a few years (years? jeez.. years!) ago. Ummmm, I advise veiwer descretion????
I love ginger snaps! My parents used to eat them all the time, and if I was “good” I might get to have one. THF recently found a flamablamablous recipe for them, and we’re planning on making buckets and buckets of them over winter break!

Today we put up our Christmas tree. It’s fake, we’ve used the same one for as long as I can remember. It doesn’t look terribly real at first, but every time we go somewhere we get an ornament, so there’s one or two on every branch, in addition to multicolored lights, and you can’t really see the tree by the end of the decorating.
I have, in my life, eaten my fair share of gingersnap cookies. The best ones are thin and Swedish. Yes, Swedish.
I personally could do without slush and mud, though. It’s just not a party. It makes me feel like Arthur Dent meeting the Wise Old Bird.

There’s this summer camp called the Summer Enrichment Program in June/July, and it’s mega muserly. Google it. The application process is hugelike so they want everybody’s aplication in by Feb. 15, no later. It’s really fun and I’ve been going for the past three years. It’s kinda like CTY, I guess. Go check it out. Now. I get lonely not knowing anybody there who reads Muse.

I can’t find a needle. A NEEDLE!!! I’m in the house of a seamstress’s husband, and I can’t find a needle! There’s a whole corner of the house overflowing with rickrack and fabric and buttons, and another corner of my bedroom overflowing with beads and beading materials, and there aren’t any needles!!! Then, seeing its beauty, I dragged my family outside with me to look at it (except my mother, as she is lying in front of the television with not even enough energy to open her eyes, let alone walk down three flights of stairs). It was raining all day today, but the clouds finally began clearing away this evening. Now, only a few are left, and the moon (along with Mars beneath it) is in the middle of a beautiful clearing of clouds, and the lighting is beautiful. Thanks, Robert!

Well, I just realized that my dim memory of standing in the driveway with a bunch of adults staring up into the sky and gushing about something I couldn’t see was NOT, in fact, the Aurora Borealis, but (most likely) comet Hale-Bopp. It makes more sense. Close: “star” is estrella. “Ustedes” is the polite or formal plural form of “you” (singular “Usted”). The corresponding informal or familiar pronouns are tu/vosotros, but “vosotros” is rarely used outside Spain.

In Spain it’s the polite plural. In most of Latin America, it’s the only plural. In some places (mainly, I think, Argentina and Costa Rica) there’s another second-person pronoun, vos, which your Spanish teacher probably won’t tell you about, either.
Spanish teachers don’t want to scare people away. They’re committed to maintaining the fiction that Spanish is simpler and less interesting than it really is.

So, for various reasons, my family’s internet connection isn’t working and I am forced to use dial-up. This poses a problem as it means I cannot watch what my friends so eloquently call “Johnny Depp stalker-videos” on youtube, since the rate of video-loading is approximately 1 minute of video to 10 minutes of real life, and I can’t stay online that long (as well as not having the patience, which is a different problem). Advice?
My parents are wrapping presents. OH THE AGONY! I want to help wrap! Wrapping becomes so much fun when you’re doing it with others. Alone it’s sort of boring.
There is fudge. I like it not. I usually love fudge but this is less than wonderful. Too much sugar, not enough chocolate. Sadly, I already ate all the hundreds-and-thousands-covered peppermint chocolate chips. So now I am without sugar. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I got fifty dollars today so I only need $160 more for the Shakespeare Festival! If it evens happens. We need like fifteen people and we only have like seven. So it might not work out.
I think my days of getting up at four AM to bug my parents about presents are over. Last year I remember I got up at a semi-reasonable hour, and this year, if my sister lets me, I might be able to do the same. Because I am an adolescent and need my sleep!
I made a necklace yesterday to go with my Christmas shoes. They are lovely and shiny and black with white dots on them. I ♥ them.
The tree is pretty when it’s all lit up. I really like seeing people open their presents. It makes me happy. I like opening my own presents too, but it’s always slightly awkward because I have trouble expressing emotions, and that includes gratitude.
I have trouble even admitting that emotions exist. This is probably a huge barrier between myself and the rest of the world.

Anyway, the majority of my lost comment was that I have found the most perfect building for a Muse Academy. It’s on the walk here to the library from my grandparent’s new house. It’s this great big old house that has a HUGE portch that wraps almost the whole way around the building, the top of which (the portch) is a deck that you can put tables on and suchlike. There are two towers, one of which I can easily imagine Rebecca living in.
It is on the lake and there is a smaller house very close that would be perfect for out of town students.
It also happens to be for rent. OMG, I WANT IT!!!! *sigh*

I got a subscription to Cicada as a present only i’ve not subscribed before. My friend said ‘oh, tell me how it’s changed…’ and I said ‘[her name], I didn’t subscribe before you’d have to lend me old issues.’ However I don’t think my first issue shall come until the March April issue. unless part of the redesign is that it comes each month or every nine months. we’ll see.

Cicada: Yes, it’s been done over. It is now the size of the other Carus pub. magazines. Other than that, it seems to be the same. I’ve not been getting it as long as the others, so maybe I’m not one to judge, but it seems like they are trying to be overly sophisticated in their writing.
For example, they seem to like having stories that start in the middle and get nowhere but seeming weakly cynical abount the world we live in. As far as “The Slam” goes, the website is nearly impossible to navigate. I am looking it up as I write this but as far as what what gets put into the magazine, it’s not near as good as stuff you could find on here with you guys simply writing about how your day went.
Oh, I just found it on the Carus publishing website…read the rules, etc. I much prefer MuseBlog, where the rules are clearly written with respect and humor, not sarcasm. *cough, cough*
I will get off my soapbox an say that they have run some good stories, and I appreciate that. However, Muse seems to have a better batting average, in my not-so-humble opinion.

Musicals? My favorite movie is The Music Man. I also watched High School Musical a few days ago on TV at my grandparents. Meh, it was okayish. Not really my type, but I suvived. In some of the songs the sound was was way off and you could so easily tell that he actress wasn’t singing. Pathetic. Very pathetic.

231 – High School Musical? *gags* Some of my favorite musicals are Wicked, Hairspray, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Sound of Music, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, and (to a lesser extent) Camelot. I’m a huge fan of musicals. The only ones I’ve seen and don’t like are High School Musical and its sequel and Annie (which I probably learn to like since I’m in it).

Well, I’ve caused quite a few people to wonder why they’re standing, dripping in gooey goo today. I have a huge stockpile of deep dish pies that follow me around, you see. I have to get rid of them somehow! *deep dish pies thrice more*
Okay, so I posted on the kokonspiracy thread that I just received a Muse academy Hoodie (go to the Musery loves company store, everyone! I will probably be buying more loot with some of my Christmas money!)
Well, on the way back (in the dark and the rain) we were passed by a speeding police car with the lights flashing. We didn’t see it for a while, but then, right where we needed to turn off of that road onto another, a MASSIVE HUGE CATASTROPHE DISASTER EMERGENCY RESPONSE SITUATION SITUATED SUCH THAT YOU COULD ONLY SQUEZE ONTO A ROAD WE DIDN’T WANT TO BE ON BY GOING IN THE SHOULDER. Blocking basically five lanes on both sides of the road in front of our turn, probably at least 50 or more fire engines and rescue squads and police cars were there with zillions of lights blazing in the night.
That–was scary, and we had a hard time finding a way to loop back around to get home!

Whoa! Something like that happened when somebody was shot waay down my road, but not so far down that I couldn’t hear the couple shots and all those emergency cars blasting by my place half an hour later.
I’m up late to see if I can get more info on news websites at 11:00
I think it was some huge accident at the intersection. Some car slipped on the wet road and was hit, and other cars didn’t realize in the dark and piled up.
This was a little ways from my house, but our fire station probably had some units at the scene…

Yeah, Cicada varies between good stuff, dark artsy stuff, and totally irrelevent wierd stuff. I just read the former.
Yes, Cicada’s been redone. I believe it is still bimonthly and monochrome, which is a relief. I don’t think that “Best of the Slam” will be a feature of every issue, which is also nice. We do unintelligible teen angst a lot better here on Museblog. In general, it’s not much different, although I think there are fewer stories now. The one thing I mind is their new method of taking reader submissions, which is by having themed contests rather than actually taking what they are given. One of the things that I liked about Cicada was their submission policy; I had been planning to submit eventually, but now I’m not sure I will. However, I quite like the little bugs they put in every story, even if the rest of the magazine is graphically A Bit Much.
Unsurprisingly, I also like the sarcasm.
My dad was just in a really bad car wreck. Another car lost a wheel, which rolled under his car and made it flip forwards onto the roof. Amazingly, he had virtually no injuries!
YAY!!!!!!!!!! He didn’t die!!!!!!!!!
Back to musicals: I am listening to the soundtrack to Spamalot, the spoof musical of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
I have a dilemma. Should I go to the public New Years party where my friends are working? I usually just end up wondering around aimlessly. I dunno what to do.

Hey guys, I’m back. Holidays are always a bit busy for me, and I’ve been spending quite a bit of time with my new computer game Supreme Ruler 2010. Now, of course, I’m back because school starts again on Wednesday, and I have homework to do. If I’m needed on any thread (for instance the RPW thread) tell me and I’ll go catch up on that thread.

Hullo. I’m Very Sad about the fact that winter break is almost over and I shall soon return to The Black Hole that is School (I’m in a mood for capitals; can you tell?) and then I shan’t be able to come on Much At All instead of Frequently. But oh well. I’ll enjoy it while I have it.
My grandfather is here, and we spent the past few hours designing a board game.
I have a challenge….. Can we make it to post threehundred before midnight museblog time????????????????? I’m sure we’lldo our best.

I just watched a great documentary about the search for extraterrestrial life with my father.
