Castle’s idea, described starting here

Yay GAPAs!
So we need to “picture the musiverse” and meld the worlds and times of the Alternate Timeline RPG, Muse Academy, Muse Scouts, Demigod RPG, and the Inter-Timeline Agency.
I’ve probably forgotten some, but I can already tell this is going to be fun!
No, I think retroactively trying to meld all the different universes would be a Very Bad Idea and a Recipe for Disaster*. But as Castle noted, it would be useful to sort them out. The first step is to identify them. There are so many…
*Although crossover hybrids remain a possibility for future threads, of course.
Ah. I thought we were trying to make one fused musiverse.
I’m not sure whether that’s what Castle had in mind, but it sounds dangerous to me. Remember the time the Vacuum merged with the vortex? Attempted superposition of mutually orthogonal imaginative axes might have a similar effect. We don’t want to create another Thing in the Cupboard.
It is NOT what I had in mind. I wanted to document it all and perhaps make maps for all of it because I’ve had a lot of fun making maps lately and I just sent two more to you.
Maps, they are too much fun.
Maybe a cubist universe?
Still, it would be interesting to see what people came up with. I think I’ll just get out of the way and let things happen.
Wonderful! Thank you!
The first thing I’d like to do is figure out which world the current Pie War is taking place and which world the blog is in.
RtH made a map a little while ago, and I redrew it and sent it in. There’s more detailed maps of the individual areas on the way, but the point is that it was a very good world and I referenced Dornavenk on the Pie War thread. Shall we say the Pie War is taking place in that world?
Also, would someone define the world/timelines and which threads they recall them encompassing?
Waitwaitwait is the WoP going to be canon?
So, let’s see. There were the explorations of Museica and beyond — all of those threads belong in the same world, of course.
There was the Pieceful Pie Planet. It seems to me that it was built as an escape from the Pie Wars, which would place it in the same “reality,” wouldn’t it? Was World of Piecraft in there, too?
Our Reclusive Gardens were never intended to be part of a coherent universe. They were explicitly created as a restorative fantasy. Still, maybe they count as a world.
There were the Bunny Apocalypses, original, next generation, and rebooted.
Muse Academy, of course, cropped up both in on-the-blog events and in fantasies of various degrees of canonicality.
And then all those RPGs, RRRs, and so on.
What else?
Ships Logs- It’s current dormant, but as soon as I finish this paper and studying for physics and somehow obtain a time turner so that I can sleep again ‘omigiantspacesquidmaturainlessthanamonthimgonnadiediedie’ *deep breath* And calm down and find a crew we might start up again.
I hope you get some sleep-enabling calm soon!
Ships Logs still holds appeal for me, if there are other people to play with. I’ll join you on the Seahawk or a new ship any time, bookgirl_me.
I’d love to go back to Ships’ Logs. Isn’t it on in the same universe as Museica, though?
Pie Isle. (Is that included under Museica? I’m not sure.)
What about Round Robin Smileys? Or SSSS’s in general?
Hmmm. BA was technically set on Earth, but there should defintely be maps of the various bases. I could sketch those up…
Known distinct universes from the Alternate History RPW:
Universe 8976463– Similar to the prime timeline, but considered dangerous because of the presence of several powerful and hostile dictators.
Universe 876– Diverged from the prime timeline when Jacques Cousteau was killed during World War II before inventing the aqualung. Similar to our world, but with less underwater exploration and worse environmental damage.
Universe 8654346– Home to a tribe called the “Rodentines”.
Universe 923– Devoid of life, highly irradiated due to a nuclear war sometime in the 20th century.
Universe 780548– A tropical paradise.
Universe 96163– Diverged from the prime timeline when the Tunguska Meteor exploded over London, not Siberia, in 1908.
Universe 58009– Diverged from our reality when the British won the American Revolutionary War. Most of the world is still colonized by European powers.
Universe 621105– Inhabited by intelligent sea stars with human-level intelligence. Known to have few natural resources.
Universe 811276– Timeline where a time machine created by the sea stars of 621105 crashed by accident.
Universe 41261– Timeline where the “Luneta incident” occurred, something that apparently frightened Agent Sphaera.
Universe 92154230– Diverged from the prime timeline when the Persians conquered the Greeks. Democracy never caught on, and the world is controlled by various monarchies.
Universe 637199– A world similar to our own but with more advanced space colonization where EPCOT exists as a city and not a theme park. Apparently diverged sometime in the 1960s or before.
Universe 732109– The Roman Empire exists into the present day and controls most of Europe. Presumably diverged when Rome did not fall.
I don’t know how Universe 780548 happened, but I’ll take it.
Castle sent these maps of Museica and vicinity, the Pie Isles, and Dornavenk. The Museica map is based on one Red-tailed HAWK created for Chronicles of Museica, Part 9.
Dornavenk bears an eerie resemblance to Prussiania, don’t you think?
Prussiania: Like Prussia, but 42x more awesome.
And 10 to the 42nd power times less prosperous.
A lot of girls at my school are obsessed with Prussia.
*Spongebob meme* We should take all the Prussia fangirls … and make them Prussiania fangirls! Kesesesese.
WHAT
What. How did this happen.
Just for the record, I clicked on the Robert’s Time Capsule thread once, but I didn’t look at all the images. I never saw this. We either have highly similar thought processes and drawing styles or….no, we just have highly similar thought processes and drawing styles.
We weren’t sure how to break this to you, Castle, but you were born in Prussiania. Those people you call your parents… well…
Adobe Illustrator’s live trace is absolutely life-saving.
*unrelated to overall subject*
My dad just got the trial version of the Adobe suite for my family to use, personally and for our business. I haven’t tried Illustrator yet (I’ve only used Photoshop, a little, at school) but I’m excited to.
This brings back memories. I remember mapping the entire western continent on the Ships’ Logs thread.
Could we make a map of Kokoniño County??? You could probably put together the pieces of what they say in the comic that’s in the magazine. What universe would that be in???
Hmmm, good question, is Kokonino County a dimension of its own, or is it a magically-hidden part of the Southwestern US of an otherwise-ordinary world?
Maybe Kokoniño County it is another universe (dimension is actually a factually incorrect term when discussing alternate realities) and the Muses use their Muse magick to travel to the real world.
If Kokoniño County is its own universe, what should be the universe number??? I suggest 45735.
What’s the universe number of the actual, real world that we live in?? I suggest 3410.
Maybe there is like, a magical portal thing that connects universe 45735 and universe 3410.
In Attack of the Smart Pies, I think Feather and Urania go through some sort of rock thing that lets them travel from Emma’s world to Kokonino County. So it could just be hidden from the ordinary world. Or maybe the rock thing transports them to a different dimension or plane of existence….
Huh. Very good question, indeed.
In one issue, Craaw sings a song about mortality that includes the line “(there comes a time when we must or something like that) …and leave this Kokonino place”, which would suggest he was at least using it in the sense of “this mortal plane” on this occasion, which would suggest a world of its own.
Then how does Intelligent Air get to Humans? Or is that only in the book? I’m not sure, I’ve only been getting the magazine since late 2012. I want to say it’s only in the book, so your explanation makes sense.
Well, it doesn’t necessarily prove anything, Craaw is a poet, and poets often use words in creative ways and take artistic license. In similar poems about mortality, human poets often say “Earth” to mean our whole Universe, although hundreds of astronauts can literally be said to have “departed Earth” without having died. So it could be a world of its own or just the part of a larger whole that the Muses are most familiar with, just as Earth is the part of our Universe that humans are most familiar with.
I just got the book from the library, and I think that there are two possibilities for how intelligent air gets to humans:
1. Kokonino county is somewhere on Earth so the intelligent air can get to them by floating around OR
2. The rock door that they go through is a portal to the other world or to another universe. The intelligent air could go through that portal to humans and the intelligent air’s communication could go through the portal, too.
But in the July/August 2003 issue, Kokopelli and Pwt go to a skatepark with humans in it.
I think that the Muses just live really, really far away from humans.
They said in the fan mail of one issue that they want to avoid humans.
In the September 2010 issue, Mimi and Urania go really for out into Kokonino County and they said that they had gone out fifty miles.
And also Urania has a map of Kokonino county which on the map looks like an island with smaller islands around it.
But in the January 2007 issue, Urania and Feather go really far out into Kokonino County and they find a store and there a human who works at the store there. If she was the only human there, the money the store person was getting probably wouldn’t be worth anything, so I do not think that the store person was the only human on the island. I will send a picture of the map to the PWMMBs (People Who Made MuseBlog). I got a picture of the map and colored it in and labeled it on the computer. I will send it to the GAPAs and hope they put it here.
Well, the skatepark wasn’t necessarily in Kokonino County, and none of us have denied that whatever Kokonino is, the Muses have some way of traveling between it and the mundane world.
ok. that makes sense.
I just read the book.
But this doesn’t make sense:
The muses don’t want people to know about them, yet they go to a place with humans. Any ideas about why they did that??
In the beginning of the book, the humans avoid Feather when he goes to get donuts. All the Muses, really. They have their reactions, but Emma is the first and only one to actually go up to Feather and talk to him. So I think as long as the Muses don’t interact with humans too much, they’ll be okay.
OK.
Also, I guess if people come up to them, which doesn’t happen very often, they just use the memory potion on them.
I guess that’s probably what they did after the comic where they go to the skatepark, because one person went up to them and talked to them. It doesn’t really say, because the comic ends there.
but in the January 2007 issue, Urania and Feather wander around in Kokonino county and find a human, which makes no sense if they don’t have humans living there and also they are secretive.
Maybe Kokonino county is in a place on Earth that is really far from any humans, not another world entirely.
But since they had a conversation, wouldn’t they have to use the memory potion on the person there?
Or would they not have to because they didn’t say anything about how the new Muse thingie works? I think that’s probably it.
Yeah, I bet you’re right. They probably wouldn’t have to do anything unless they were asked about why they don’t look like normal people and they have to tell the humans about being Muses. I’ve never seen the comic you’re talking about, so I could be wrong about something, but yeah.
Does “Kokonino Vacation” help any here?
What’s “Kokonino Vacation”??
Kokonino? It’s a place off the Florida Keys where you go to get away from it all. We’ll get there fast and then we’ll take it slow…that’s where we wanna go, way down in Kokonino!
Hm… No, that’s Kokomo. No oceans have come near Kokonino County for many millions of years, by the looks of it.
But on the map Urania has in the September 2010 issue, there is ocean surrounding Kokonino county. And I’m pretty sure that since it’s 2014, then that’s 4 years ago. Wouldn’t that mean that there are oceans surrounding Kokonino County since (or were oceans) four years ago. That’s less than millions of years.
Did I get the map wrong?? It looked like ocean to me, even before I colored it.
It’s from the book, The Attack of the Smart Pies. I assumed it was cannon.
It’s spelled “canon”
Or sometimes “cañon.”
No, I looked that up in my computer’s dictionary and that’s an alternate spelling of CANYON, not CANON. (I didn’t know that until now)
Just kidding!
no seriously. I looked it up on my computer dictionary.
Cañon = Canyon
It’s the Spanish word for canyon, isn’t it? But it has nothing to do with canons or cannons. I was just being silly.
All they said in the book was that there was a paper in the suitcase that said “Kokonino Vacation” and it didn’t really say anything else about that, so how would that help?? Just wanted to know.
PWMMBs (People Who Made MuseBlog), please add the map I made.
Behold the map!
(By the way, Ethan, I’m pretty sure that the seventh letter in “Kokonino” is an ordinary n, not an ñ.)
Yes, then it would be pronounced “Kokoninyo”.
I thought it was pronounced Kokoninyo.
Coconino County, Arizona, is a real place. It’s not necessarily definitive, but you might try to find out how the residents of Coconino-with-a-C pronounce their version of the name.
I looked up Coconino in the geographical names section of my dictionary. It says that it’s pronounced ko-kuh-nee-no so I guess I was wrong.
In fact, the presumable reason why Koko & Co. Takes place in Kokonino County is because it’s a reference to the classic comic Krazy Kat, which takes place in Coconino County.
Larry Gonick is a big fan of Krazy Kat, as I learned while working with him on Muse. He also likes Pogo, Peanuts, and Mafalda (a comic strip from Argentina). Krazy Kat and Pogo are the most obvious influences on the Muses, but you’ll see unmistakable traces of Mafalda in Larry’s comic “Raw Materials.”
oh. thanks
Also, the font that is used at the top of the map image, I made that font!!
\(^u^)/
If you want, (and the PWMMBs tell me a way to do it), I could give you the font.
is there a way to do that, PWMMBs??
I don’t know, but I’ll bet there are MBers who do. (I can’t even remember what “PWMMB” stands for.)
PWMMB stands for Person Who Made MuseBlog, and PWMMBs means People Who Made MuseBlog.
Aha! I think I qualify.
I’ll try to send it to thegapas@gmail.com
Oh wait click here to go to the font. I made a link.
