MuseBlog By the Numbers

If you thought blog traffic was heavy in January, you weren’t imagining things. See inside.

If you thought blog traffic was heavy in January, you weren’t imagining things. It was the fifth busiest month in MB history. In contrast, January 2007 was the fifth slowest month in MB history.

Since we ♥ charts and maps, here are a couple to ponder.

  1. Dang. I can’t see it, as I am using a school computer. But I can just imagine what it’s like…

  2. What I mean is so far, we have pulled equal with or ahead on the reacord for each month this year. We could try to keep up with that.

  3. I dunno if it’s skript frenzy? Maybe… oh wait… JUNE IS THE MONTH I POSTED A LOT!!!!!! I don’t think it’s me who did it, but I just thought of that. Fun. :D

  4. Ahaha…the March explosion in 2006 I remember that. How small it is in comparison

It’s hard to believe in August MB will be four! A fully functioning toddler, even! XD

  5. More is not necessarily better — and more-for-the-sake-of-more would almost certainly be worse. People are already complaining that they can’t keep up with the posts we already have.

  6. It would be fine to have more members. More new people waiting to be rescued from normal society is most certainly great.

  7. (6) Guilty. Now you see what I do for recreation.

Actually, totting up numbers and arranging them in spreadsheets is quite soothing somehow…guess that belongs on Dealing with Stress.

    (16) Nice way of putting it.

  8. 16-That’s what we are here for, aren’t we? To connect with each other? I mean, look at us. None of us are… normal. We are social outcasts, some of us rebelious, others shy. We don’t belong out there. We belong here. With each other. In supporting grace.

  9. 5- maybe because some of us don’t have school and we have no life (okay, just me) so we make a life for ourselves at our computers

  10. 19- Exactly. In June, we had just moved to back to the motyherland and were technically homeless. Thank goodness and grace for families and computers!

  11. This is FLAMABLAMABLOUS!!!!!!!!

I’m actually working on a MuseBlog counting project – one that would probably be very simple for the GAPAs and all of their GAPA powers, but as a mere blogger I am doing it the long and hard way. It’s actually really fun!

  12. (14) Well, Axa, that March still ranks among the busiest — and in contrast to the months that preceded it, it was still quite a leap.

For the curious, here are the, oh, 14 busiest months with their actual totals:

    9362 June, 2007
    8432 May, 2007
    7761 April, 2006
    7671 April, 2007
    7393 January, 2008
    7388 March, 2006
    7248 July, 2007
    7061 March, 2007
    6435 October, 2007
    6234 September, 2007
    6154 August, 2007
    6052 December, 2006
    6017 May, 2006
    6011 December, 2007

As you can see, each of the past six months is on that list, except for November ( #16), which dipped by to 5613, possibly due to the fact such a crowd of MBers were out NaNo-ing. In any case, Year 03 has been a busy time in our little sanctuary, as KaiYves aptly termed it, averaging just over 200 posts per day.

    (22) Actually, Purple Panda, GAPA powers are more limited than I’d like when it comes to counting the kinds of things I want to count, so I am your comrade in arms on the slow and mucky trail. Though I agree, it’s fun!

  13. the infestation is no longer a theory but truth… no denying it now… and without old MBers we’ll just have to build right back up. ok. I can deal with that.

  14. Wow! Cool!

Are there any charts on how many neophytes we got in each month? I think that would be interesting to do…maybe I’ll figure that out next time I’m bored. :)

  15. Rebecca (24): Yes, I’m sure it is quite tedious either way. I’m sure the GAPAs have some easier way to do what I’m trying to calculate, but that’s okay, because it is really fun to do it despite the tedious nature. Sometimes tedious things can be fun! (Usually only when they’re Muse-related, though :D)

    I love graphs, though — they’re my favorite data-displaying-device.

  16. Whoa. if it is that big now, and there’s a trend of it peaking in April-June think what this Spring will be like…. O_O…

No, guys, lets not post more. The community here is already too spread out, the post counts already too large…

  17. 34- Yeah. I don’t want to turn into someone who complains about the number of posts and eventually leaves, but this is ridiculous…

  18. I hope the posts stay about like this…it’s a small community, but a pleasant one, and everybody knows everybody else. When there are forums with hundreds and hundreds of people you don’t get quite the same level of friendship as you do on communities of

  19. 24) ha, guess I was wrong then! amazing how many posts, really

It almost seems like MB is outgrowing itself! There’s bound to be some fall off point though, in any case I’m gonna ride the wave like always XD

  20. I doubt we’d ever geat to be a huge forum, which is nice. But I don’t have any problem at all against newbs, and it only makes sense that more newbs will keep on coming.

  21. 42- because then we could have conversations where each of our posts were responded to and we knew our fellow bloggers quite well.

  22. (50) We’re listening, Purple Panda, and we’re brewing up an idea that will incorporate some aspects of the Anti-Chatroom. It won’t be ready for an unveiling for a little while yet, but I think you will approve.

    *AHEM*

AVERAGE AGE OF MUSEBLOGGERS BELOW NINETEEN:
    15,39230

RANGE AGE OF MUSEBLOGGERS BELOW NINETEEN:
    10 (18-8)

That was fun, actually. The list is in the Polling Thread for further reference.

  27. 70- then they could have turned in their birthdays. I got the birthdays from the birthday list from last year. even if they did get included, it wouldn’t have made a big difference.

  31. 69 (Vixen)- For reals? I thought it was a good deal younger than that, although I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s just because the people I notice tend to be younger than that.

  32. 80- I was guessing the average would be 14, but we have quite a few seventeen and sixteen year olds to bring it up. Not very many twelve and eleven year olds to bring the average down, so we ended up with fifteen. However, there were quite a lot of fourteen year olds.

  34. That’s wierd, I would have thought the most busy time would be summer when we’re all off from school. hmmm…

wow, looking at that makes me remember how long I’ve been here… since summer ’06! I guess I’ve kinda slowed down on posting though… Highschool with advanced classes and a part time job REALLY takes up time. Hope to back to regular posting by this summer!
