PWT IN TARTAN?
*envisions Muse of Animals doing a highland fling*
*brain implodes*
Hi everyone! It’s nice to be back!
Good grief, I don’t know if I ever posted on the first random thread for the month. I need to catch up here!!
Red-tailed HAWK

First post?
I love Mimi’s dress.
Is that Kokopelli in the background?
(3) Hello, RtH, nice to see you!
(2) Robert determined that the tartan Pwt is sporting is most likely “MacGonickal.”
(4) Mimi borrowed her dress from Snow White (though alterations proved necessary). My favorite part is the bow on her head.
3- Hiya, mi amigo!
5- MacGonickal. Very punny.
3 – Hi, RtH!
5 – Punny. Ha ha.
5 – Yup, I figured out that it was Snow White. She looks awesome. Well, they all do.
I wonder what Koko would look like in a dress.
3- Hey RtH, what’s up?
8- No. I will not even consider thinking about that.
Hah! Pwt is a boy!! I knew it!! He’s wearing a kilt in the picture, and only guys wear kilts.
10 – You’re right! THE MYSTERY HAS BEEN SOLVED!!! *is pied*
3- COME TO THE MDB RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! THE WEDDING IS IN 11 DAYS YOU IDIOT!!!! *wheeze, wheeze*
5- MacGonickal? LOL, very funny.
Technically, PWT’s outfit is gender neutral, seeing as a kilt is also classified as a skirt. So, the mystery is NOT solved!!!
I hat e you, GAPAs.
Has anyone noticed Koko in a fine gentelmanly attire??? That just doesn’t make sense.
no, girls can wear quilts. Sometimes they have them in school uniforms. Although, i’ve never seen a boy dressed up as snow white.
you know i meant kilts.
Hello, all…just thought I’d drop in for a visit…it appears things have changed a bit…lots of Newcomers…lots of “points”…lol…it’s been a looooooong time, hasn’t it?
Sooooooo, WHAT’S UP?!?!?!?!
12 – Oh yeah. Fine? Gentlemanly? *shudders*
13 – Huh? Mimi is undoubtedly a girl.
But Pwt is wearing a tux.
(12) Why shouldn’t it make sense? Many a trickster has dressed in gentleman’s garb. Besides, a cape could come in handy for hiding pies….
(15) What’s up with you, Shadowkat? A pleasure to see you.
Oh, yeah, and only 10 more months (a little less, actually) until I have to announce…as Kyra would say, stop the music…my real name!
(double post)
SHADOWKAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You’re BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check out the new PPP thread. (Please let my link work!)
15- Thank Koko you’re back! Please visit the Role-playing Writing, Part 5, thread ASAP.
Nice to see you again, by the way.
17-Not too much, Ms. Lasley! I’m done with OCC for the summe; still going with my homeschool stuff; reffing soccer; in a play (The Mystery of Mouldy Manor), in which I get to play a Swedish maid; still swing-dancing…yup, that’s my life (pretty much)! Oh, and good to see you, too!
(18) Actually, we modified the rule — veteran MBers may elect to continue with their screen names if they prefer, but we mark them as being over 18 in Who’s Here.
SHADOWKAT! *pies* Nice to see you! Don’t worry, some of us oldbies are still around too
(actually, I’ve been mroe or less gone for quite a while and just started coming again regularly pretty recently. But still.)
19-Sorry, it didn’t, but I’ll go there, anyway!
20-How on Earth am I still even in that story…? Oh, well, guess I’ll find out!
19 AND 20-Thank you guys for the wonderful welcome! You make my ♥ smile!
22-Oh…well, I suppose…I was going to simply tell ya’ll my real name, but keep using my screen name, so that’s works out pretty well! Goody!
23-Sweet! Looks like I picked the right time to come!
24 – It’s under Don’t Forget These Threads.
Hm, that’s funny. I do not see my post appearing with a little “Your post is awaiting moderation” thing above. I cannot preview it at all.
15- Hi *waves* I’m a ‘phyte as of March so you don’t know me, but I have encountered you frequently lurking and reading past threads, and I think that it’s quite cool that you’re back.
(sorry, I’m abysmal at formal introductions)
Shadowkat, is that really you?
Oh, and Koko looks like Jack the Ripper.
30 – *shudder* He sort of does.
16- yes… i got that.
I like this picture.
Lalalalalala…
I want my bestest friend to come home so we can watch Juno. He isn’t coming until July and we’re already planning what to do when he’s here.
Visited the Guggenheim Museum today and saw a GREAT exhibition- Cai Guo-Quiang: I Want to Believe. (First of all, who could resist a title like that?)
Mr. Cai (Not pronounced like my username, more like “ts-eye”.) is famous for his “explosion art”. In the center gallery, they had these cars suspended from the ceiling with light rods coming out, looking like fireworks! Very cool.
There was a little “river” in one gallery where you could pull yourself along in a boat, surrounded by the art.
Best of all were the photos of his “Projects for Extraterrestrialsâ€, massive “explosion events†that he’s created all over the world. In one in Germany, he sat at the center of a set of concentric rings full of explosives that were set off, wearing a heart monitor. They showed the final chart, where his heartbeats and the seismic waves of the explosion were right next to each other, mirroring each other. Very cool.
Another time, he buried a block of seawater and set off a trail of gunpowder near it, that eventually lit a kite that soared upwards on fire, representing the journey of life on Earth, beginning in the sea, traveling across the land, and into the sky.
On February 27, 1993 (The day after I was born!) Mr. Cai placed 10,000 meters of pitch at the end of the Great Wall of China and set it on fire, “expanding†the wall.
If you’re in NYC before May 28, see this!
(continued from post 313 on previous thread)
p.s.: I forgot to mention! I’ve been acting as historian for my family, what with all my extra time, and discovered an uncle! Normally, this wouldn’t be so surprising, as we have quite a large family, but this uncle lives two streets down from me and I’ve known him for three years! Never once did we suspect any immediate relation.
So now of course there’s going to be a huge family reunion, except that this time, my relatives are coming over from France and not vice versa. My dear Grandmere has never visited the States before, and I haven’t seen her for so long, so I am quite excited to show her around.
Fun fact.
Love,
– Faye
by the way… Snow White’s dress? really? mehhhh ;D
ah-HEM (intended pun, geddit?) Pwt wearing a dress and Koko in a suit! whoa….what’s the blog coming to these days?
34-I wish I could see that! Maybe I can day-trip, a I’m from around there. A river in an art gallery? I love that idea! Maybe it will come to MassMoca, which is closer to where I live.
Koko looks odd.
WHAT is that Pwt is wearing?
37- It’s a long bamboo pool-like thing, the sides are narrow enough to pull yourself along.
‘Ullo, Kat of Shadows. How are you?
35- That’s cool.
I am utterly stuffed. I don’t know how I’ll ever recover. I ate, in a matter of two hours:
One Italian soda w/ whipped cream
Two Cranberry Juice/Squirts
Two dinner rolls
Three pieces of asparagus
Quite a lot of rice
One piece of Ling cod
A cup of lemon custard
*collapses* The good news is I won’t need lunch tomorrow…
I’ve always thought that Pwt was a girl. I dunno why. It just makes more sense to me that way.
Anyways, I’m sick. Ugh. And then my family went to see Nim’s Island for Mother’s Day, and I had a giant slushie, and (obviously) I’m still sick. And I’m not sure if my mom will let me stay home tomorrow, and I’m not sure if I want to, because all of the 8th graders will be back at school after a week of being on a trip, and I can’t wait to see of my friends again. So, assuming I go, I have a 5 paragraph essay comparing and contrasting the leadership styles of Eleanor Roosevelt and Susan B. Anthony. I have 3/5 paragraphs, but now I have to explain why I picked them and how I’m going to use my knowledge about their leadership styles to make myself a better leader. -is lost- Meh. I guess I’m going to back to work…
I really wish I could go to sleep instead, though…
(41) You may draw Pwt your way, and Lady Bunniful will draw en her way.
Oh, shoot…I forgot to e-mail the start of my essay to myself…I have the first two paragraphs, but not the third, so I’ll have to completely redo that one.
And I still want to go to sleep.
Luv the picture. Why is it Pwt’s fantasy to be wearing Tartan? With a tuxedo?
Kokopelli cuts a rakish figure in a coat and top hat.
42- You liked that gender-neutral pronouns article, didn’t you?
Hello Shadowkat, I do not believe I have really introduced myself. I am The Guy Your Parents Warned You About. Yes, that very same guy. They warned you for a reason. If you want more information about me, ask your parents. They were the ones who warned you, anyway.
(44) ‘Tis not a tuxedo. The kilt is often worn as formal wear, with all the trimmings.
One could write an entire fanfiction about how Koko, Mimi and Pwt got into those clothes and why. I thoroughly approve and look forward to “May-Hem: Three’s Company/Third Time’s a Charm/The One with the Treasure Chest/whatever you come up with.”
45 – That article was awesome!
I’m on the last paragraph of my essay, and I’m feeling a little better in terms of sickness, so I’ll probably end up going to school tomorrow.
/
I’m watching the Survivor finale right now. I cannot wait to see how it ends. They’re down to the final 2 right now…
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I started watching Hornblower with just the right amount of time between when I started watching and bedtime, and then I had to go research loyalty oaths, so I’m only to part ten and I have to go to bed. Or get ready, at least. I could watch another part after I brush my teeth, I reckon.
Who needs sleep?
Good morning everyone!
Such a loverly Monday, right?
*drags herself out of bed* *stumbles downstairs* *logs on to MB*
50- No. *sleepy glare*
Actually, the real answer to kiwimuncher’s question is yes. It is a lovely morning, even if I’d rather sleep through this part of the loveliness.
Which is good, because we don’t have sandwich makings and I’d rather not buy school food again.
I stayed up rather late last night, and then I couldn’t sleep, so now I’m rather tired. The good news is I’m still not hungry.
48 – Don’t spoil it, please, please, PLEASE! We recorded it on DVR! I will watch it after school (while writing a 250-word essay and making a cubistic drawing!)
50- It is a great morning, isn’t it? Well, actually, afternoon, I slept through the morning. It’s good to not have school.
Of course, I still hate Mondays.
34- I saw that show too, a while back! I loved the cars with the lights, but not all of it was as exciting to me. The German project was very cool, and the tigers were interesting, but I didn’t really like the prints from the fire works, which were the main point of the show. Did you see the videos of the rainbows? Awesome!
TKAM is getting grimmer by the day. Tell me what the funniest book ever written is, so I can read that as an antidote.
54-Yes, that rocked.
34/54/56- That sounds awesome. Is it going to be at any other museums? (I’m not going to NYC anytime soon)
55- HG2G. I’ve read other funny books, but I can’t think of any.
Sorry I wasn’t on yesterday. Dad was on the computor for, like, ever.
Yeah, nothin’ much’s happening. Cept I went and got a MySpace just for the sake of having one.
hey! what’s book 55 is on this website or do you write them elsewhere i want to know how
Today’s Words of Wisdom: It is better not to rinse out your paintbrush in your cup of tea.
60 – So true.
60-Spoken from experience?
62 – Uh oh. I hope not. *shudder*
to whomever was looking for ‘The funniest book ever written’. Blue Avenger is quite good. it is by somebody or another Howe.
-disappears-
Well. I just found out that I missed my blogiversary… Makes me rather sad… I planned to have a big celebration…
I don’t have time to read through the entire thread, but I do have something to say: my school caught fire today. We were all evacuated for several hours, and we were dismissed almost an hour after school would get out anyway, because we had to stay in the convention center (next to the school–our fire emergency place) until they were sure it was out. Eep!
64- I’ve seen that. Maybe I’ll check it out sometime.
*bites tongue very hard* *attempts to be polite* *fails*
My CHARMING MOTHER gave permission to our landlady to check her email on MY COMPUTER! Cake cake cake. I thought I was becoming so sharing, too, but no. As soon as Mother goes and gives someone else permission, I turn into a nasty rude little child who can’t share anything without a fuss.
*sighs*
On the plus side, I don’t have any homework. Ahhh… Lovely. I can just eat ice cream cake and watch more TV. YouTube is a wondrous thing.
67- So sorry.
66-
Why does nobody have anything happy-happy-happy right now? We need to have a thread for HAPPY things!
66- *gasp* How?
65- Aw. Same thing happened to me. Would you like a pie? *proffers pie*
68- “If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands! If you’re happy and you know it clap your–” *is pied vigorously*

I’ll be happy when I eat a fried-egg sandwich and read Mr. Midshipman Hornblower! And then I’ll be happy when I get to eat ice cream cake and watch Hornblower episodes!
66-AIEE! I hope no one was hurt!
69-thank you. *takes pie politely*
(68) And so now we do.
66- What? Are you serious? What happened?
What’s my age again?
35~ Hi again! I was missing you the other day, I’m so glad you’re back. Sounds like you’ve had an interesting time since we last saw you.
HAWK~ Hi to you, as well! It’s been awhile since I saw you here. How’s you biology class going, by the way?
Shadowkat~ Same to you, with pies on! How have you been?
65~ I missed mine last year, I’ll probably do it again too, I forget everything. We can still celebrate though!!!! *pies*
Hmm, it’s cold here. And wet. I’m freezing. I finished The Picture of Dorian Gray and I’m starting Jane Eyre.
Reading classic literature has ruined me, I’ll never be content with pop teen fiction again. *sigh* Oh well.
71-Oh. Oh my.
73- Huh, that’s funny. Classics are so weighty, whenever I’m done with one I immediately want to read something light. I’m going to read the Pygmalion pretty soon, I think…
Funny how the last thread barely got to 300 comments in ten or eleven days, and this one already has 73?
AHHH, I”M SO EXCITED. For some reason. I dunno why.
I’m going to go see a play in a week and a half! We have ice cream in the freezer! I think I discovered the secret to learning Spanish!
I just have to read books in Spanish, and look stuff up if I don’t know it, and that supplement my slow, boring classes.
Nobody was hurt, but they think the fire might have been intentional! I don’t see who in my school would do it…I didn’t think we had any kids like that…but they must have been really stupid because there are cameras everywhere.
As far as I know, the fire was isolated to the second floor and didn’t do any extensive damage, though the entire building smells like smoke.
I asked about the funniest book ever written. How is that not happy, happy, happy?
76-
But you have a cool school! *is horrified*
Our school floods a lot, but it hasn’t caught fire, thankfully.
75~ Some are. Perhaps I shouldn’t have said “classic literature.” Maybe I should say “books that make one think while reading them.” I know, I like reading light and quick books too, I spent most of my time when I was younger reading kid’s dime novels by the dozen. I’d literally read sometimes 5 a week.
One time there was a thing with Pizza Hut and the library, where kids would read for a certain amount of time and then get a free personal pan pizza, well, when I did that mom had to write “hours” instead of “minutes” on the fill-out-form!! When we took it to the library they didn’t believe that I would read that much! We did convince them though, and I got my pizza.
55-Are you at Trial yet? Discworld is really funny!
I am….. royally pissed off right now. I lost the vice-pres election for FNHS by one vote.
Faye, good to see you!
PP, I hope everything turns out okay!
is Pwt proving he’s male by wearing a kilt? and why would Mimi want to were a Snow White disney dress?
WOW. I went inside my old house for the first time. Lots of soot and broken glass and pretty textures on the walls. And then I went up to my room and what should I discover but my Risk board?
Life is good.
I can’t wait for the weekend. I’m going to the fort (local historic site where I’ve practically grown up) and we’re going to stay over in the barracks Saturday night and make another stab at the Beggar’s Opera. Yays, I get to play Polly, the main female character, and I have no idea who will be MacHeath, her husband. It should be interesting, it certainly was last time!
I’m going to head off for the night, I’m so tired that if I stay too much longer my posts are going to get rather unintelligible, or more so, whichever it is….
52 – I won’t, don’t worry.
65 – Don’t worry. I missed mine too.
66 – Ooh, creepy…
79 – Haha, I would do that to when I was 9 or so. I’d go to the library and find some series of easy chapterbooks and just read the whole series in one weekend.
81 – Aww, that really stinks!
(Forgive the double post)
83~ I’m on the Pwt as FEMALE side of the argument. I think that the picture is brilliant, as one can always expect from our charming Lady Bunniful, but she has this once added to a controversy. Or deepened the mystery, perhaps. Although Pwt is most definitely a GIRL, so I don’t know why anyone would call it a mystery…..
I’ll get off my soapbox now, and go to bed like a good little girl. 8:)
87 – Woo, me too. Pwt is definitely a girl. -high fives-
I love the picture!
Pwt in a kilt…. Isn’t Pwt Egyptian?
Egyptian + plaid kilt = ?
81 – That sucks. I’m sorry.
Besides the Harper Hall trilogy, are there any other Pern books?
89- Tons and tons. Look up Anne McCaffrey.
A dusty sword,
the hero returns.
But to no avail, for the sword is unknown.
Inn with the new, out with the old,
The old is forgotten,
traditions left untold.
91- I notice you’re in a poetic mood tonight, agagabagabag.
91) Cool poem!
I figured out why fish were washing up dead on local beaches- an abnormally large run of bluefish forced them toward the river mouths, and they died because the water wasn’t salty enough.
91- Some of us are still around, Ag. I can guarantee a majority remembers you. *pies with welcome-back pie*
While we’re all arguing about the never-going-to-resolved question of Pwt’s gender, I’d like to say that I really don’t care what gender he/she is. I’m too busy trying to figure out how you’re supposed to say the name. I always find myself saying “pewt” or something along those lines. Any ideas?
81- I lost the election for president of NJHS, even though it was logically impossible for me to lose. Of course, my friend/running-mate and I started calling the new president a “dictator” when she started taking total control of the meetings… but that’s another story.
HI SHADOWKAT! *Jumps up and down excitedly* I’m happy you’re back! I missed you. Are you back for good, or for a visit?
I think that Pwt is a guy. I don’t know why but en just seems more masculine.
I am in tech class right now and I finished early and refuse to help anyone else because “they will never learn that way”
19 days of school left!
98- I think PWT is a hermaphrodite.
I went to my friends konfirmation Sunday, and so his Brit family came. It was very nice meeting them. I think one of them was scottish, because his accent sounded scottish, and he was wearing a kilt. Do Brits wear kilts?
KILTS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I tried wearing one that I found in Kirkens korshær (church’s cross army, literally.) , but it was at least twenty sizes too big. So my mom didn’t want to get it for me, understandibly. And ever since i quit my job, I’ve been broke. Plus, I would never seriously consider wearing something that is at leats twenty sizes too big.
I think Pwt is a girl.
Pwt is Pwt is Pwt is Pwt.
There.
all, i have a question for you… how many ladies hove you seen in a tux top with a bow tie? I think its final
99-I was about to say that. I’m on your side.
I wonder if any of the Muses aren’t straight? That would be awesome.
To be technical, aren’t they mere personifications of ideas and thus genderless?
RE: Pwt gender
*shrugs* *issues noncommital grunt* I have to say, I rarely considered the question, bad person that I am. I never considered any of the Muses’ genders to be perfectly honest. *looks ashamed of self* *gulps*
dahhhhh
and all sorts of unintelligible rubbish
OH GOD TECH IS NEXT WEEK
I NEED A COSTUME. AND MAKEUP. AND ALL THAT CRAP.
Hehe I’m doing sound effects for one half of our radio play and acting in another. First part is an episode of The Shadow, and I do sound effects. Second half is an episode of Fibber McGee and Molly, and I’m Teeny. Look it up.
xD I love my play.
Today was stupid. I hate Glory (the war movie.)
I hate STAR (Standardized Testing And Reporting) testing.
I did figure out how to make the mouse pointer move without downloading those flashy Internet-downloadable pointers.
96 – I kind of pronounce it “pwut”.
PWT IS A BOY. END OF DISCUSSION.
96 – I say “pwit”, kind of. Not exactly.
108 – Hey, I used to have to do STAR testing, back when I lived in California. It was the Spanish standerized test for my dual immersion school. I kind of doubt it’s the same one, though, for obvious reasons.
110 – Why is that the end of discussion?
Just wondering, do most girls think Pwt is a girl and most boys thing Pwt is a boy?
108 – Hey, I used to have to do STAR testing, back when I lived in California. It was the Spanish standerized test for my dual immersion school. I kind of doubt it’s the same one, though, for obvious reasons.
110 – Why is that the end of discussion?
Just wondering, do most girls think Pwt is a girl and most boys think Pwt is a boy?
111 – really? I give it more of a “uh” sound: “pwut”
I’ve always subconciously considered Pwt to be male, but she/he/it could very well be female (or neuter). It’s not illegal for girls to wear tuxes, kilts, and tartans, you know. Be more open minded – girls can fit into clothes that are generally considered masculine, and vice versa.
104 – An excellent point! I applaud. *applause*
I posted this on the visual arts thread, but it seems to me that there’s a distinct possiblity that it is dead and will never be visited, so I am posting it again here:
Robert Rauschenberg died today. *droops*
116-

112, 113 – That’s strange. I wonder why it posted twice.
114 – That’s how I pronounce it.
113-actually I think pwt is a girl. But so hard to tell…
104- mm. agreed. though none of them are at all romantic, gay, straight or bi. After all it is a magazine about History, Art and Science.
I think Pwt is Pwt. Well, I, too have thought Pwt is male but I don’t think the outfit is for either gender either but then, I don’t think any outfit is /for/ a gender as that concept seems rather absurd to me.
I guess we can all say that we’ll never know what gender Pwt is, or if he/she even has one.
Unless, of course, the editors decide to tell us. But I think we can all agree that that’s not gonna happen either.
I asked Larry Gonick once, but I think his reply was something like, “How should I know?”
92- The calmest sort of warning,
as always,
is dramatic.
The cryptic is the most profound.
123- Yay, crypticism! Curse you, spellcheck. If crypticism isn’t a word, then it ought to be.
Very nice moon last night. Looked with my binoculars. The craters and mountains looked clear as anything.
Ugh. I hate being sick.
It’s more like a teensy cold, but still. It sucks.
Clarissa wasn’t at school yesterday, and I’m not at school today. We haven’t seen eachother for two days, which is abnormal. We usually see eachother at Aladdin practice, and now that Aladdin’s over…
I miss our play.
126-Aww.
kdjsfakjdhhjk fudge!
Fudgefudgefudge!
I am confused out of my mind now and can’t wait for the end of school and I’m happy and mad and blahhhh!
Stupid drama.
45-Uhhhhh……..creeeepyyyy…..j/k, it’s cool.
Yeah, I’ve heard a lot about you…lol.
73-I’m pretty good right now! How’re you?
128~ Doing well, thanks! Some living history events, going to Jamestown now and then, homework, reading, etc., etc… I’m enjoying spring, I hope you are too, way up in the Northern climes as you are!
Make your choice, adventurous Stranger;
Strike the bell and bide the danger,
Or wonder, till it drives you mad,
What would have followed if you had.
Love that quote. It’s my e-mail signature right now. (It’s from The Magician’s Nephew, in the Chronicles of Narnia, by the way.)
130- Ooh… *shudders appreciatively*
130- *strikes bell* *palace crumbles* *evil witch comes to life* Oops. Well, that can be fixed. *reverses striking of bell with time machine*
132- But then, why did you travel back in time, if the bell was never wrung and the witch never came alive. Grandfather Paradox all over again.
How to make room to store your National Geographics:
1) Go through your stack of NGs and take out all the issues that don’t interest you. Put these in a pile.
2) When you’re done, give these to friends or take to the recycling center.
3) Go back to your stack.
4) Starting at the top, tear out all pages that are only ads. Make a pile of these.
5) When you’re done, take these to the recycling center.
6) Put your stack back in its usual place. It should be a few inches shorter.
7) When your stack becomes too big again, repeat.
133- Good advice, except I don’t get NG anymore. I don’t know why, I guess the subscription ran out and I never renewed it. That reminds me… *hurries off to re-subscribe*
97-Hey! Sort of back for good, but sort of for a visit…I won’t be on often, but I will keep tabs on what’s up. How’ve you been?
129-Oh, yes, spring is in full bloom (pun intended) up here! It’s absolutely gorgeous, isn’t it? Are you still living history?
Sigh.
OK everyone. I’m going to rant now, so everyone just ignore this post. OK. get ready……
OMGGGG! This is terrible! Tonight, my churches youth choir is singing and we’re going to sound SO BAD! For one thing, our group is extremely small and almost everyone is a soprano. Although, supposedly, we have 4 altos. But, actually,m there is only one because…..
The last time we practiced, I pointed out to our director that we needed to cover the other songs before we were going to sing them. She vaguely agreed and took them out for the FIRST TIME! (of course, these are songs that our group has sung several years ago. Unfortunately, our director failed to realize that all of the old singers are gone except for my sister. So, only one person in our whole choir knows the songs)
Even worse, only half of our choir were there that last time we practiced because of various sports games, vacations, etc. So, our choir is going to get up in front of our whole church congregation tonight at our church night supper and sing when we don’t even know the songs!
1. One of the “altos” sings soprano and tells our director that she’s alto
2. Our only guy can’t sing that high
3. The last alto sings too quietly and can’t be heard
Both my sister and I offered to sing alto, but, or course, our director insisted that there were enough people singing it. Well, what good is the part if you can’t hear it?!
Not only this, but our director is CRAZY! We have been practicing the same freaking song for months now when we have 6 songs that we are singing! So, we have one song down pat and don’t know any of the others!
OK. rant over.
136- Don’t fret! Remember, it’s church. They aren’t going to boo and throw tomatoes. (At least I hope not)
((Sorry about the double post, but I messed up the bolds- at least you get the idea))
I would like something explained to me by someone who has read The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. You know at the end, when Arthur and Ford try to find out the question to forty-two? Well…

END SPOILER!!!!!
Today is an amazing, blazing, sunshiney day. I love it.
I hate PE.
Except that we went biking and of course I’m awful at that too.
136- it’s ok, I was in church choir for a while, no one did very well. We were lucky if we could be heard in the back of the church. I never really realized it (i was little) but now when I listen to them, I’m just like…wow, we sounded like that??? But it’s not like the congregation really cares, they just like to watch little kids having fun and doing their best
136-It’s okay, don’t fret. Just keep calm! It’ll be okay.
136- don’t worry. it church. if you can sing bad anywhere, that’s where.
I am currently collecting my Cosmos story into one format that I will post because Hypatia and Alice wanted to see it.
143-I like to see stories, too!
Wow, I barely ever come on here anymore. Mostly due to the new stresses of borading school and the scarcity of available computers.
So, more for my benefit than anyone else’s, I present my llife in a nutshell.
-My slight attraction to a senior nerd in my house has developed into a full-fledged crush. Not helpful. I seem to have a thing for rugby players who wear thick glasses. And people are starting to make fun of me for it.
-EXAMS ARE COMING AND I AM STRESSED
-I drank a LOT of V8 today and it was delicious. Just thought I’d throw in something positive.
-Oh yeah, did I mention that I may have OCD and am being referred to a psychiatrist?
-Oy Vey.
-Not to mention my mom and stepdad. I have never honestly hated anyone before, but my stepfather…I actually despise him. I wish he would get in a motorcycle accident. It scares me how much I hate him. It really does.
Thanks guys. I don’t think we did that bad………. of course, it’s not like anyone would tell us if we were bad…….
Ugh, exams.
What’s black and white and in the middle of the Sahara?
A lost penguin!
Hi again!
Good grief, a whole week went by again. Anyway, thank you Lady B., Alice, Kokonilly, TGYPWYA, and everyone else who welcomed me
MF/73-Hi! *Waves* I know, it’s been ages since I’ve actually “been on the blog”, as my post on this thread indicates. I must be in a time warp or something, it feels strange to respond to people who said something at the beginning of the week when we are at the end now
As for the course, that comes in the fall (thankfully, as we are already busy *Gasp*) but I will be preparing during the summer. Thanks for asking!
Pwt is a boy. Would a girl even wear “his” normal clothes? I don’t think so, anyway
Hi Shadowkat! Hi Otzi! Wow, we’re all returning at once. I guess you just can’t keep a blogger away, huh?
I must leave again. I do plan on coming back this afternoon/evening, if I can get to the computer.
Bye! *Pies*
Red-tailed HAWK

Hullo Otzi. *pies*
Finals are the 11th and 12th of June. *sobs* So much for skipping the last day to go kayaking… Maybe my dad’ll wait till I get out of school on the 12th.
It’s staggeringly hot here. I don’t have to wear socks, even.
My signature has been made obsolete (my signature being interesting knee-socks).
Otzi? Oh, I REMEMBER YOU! Yay!
NO MORE MATH UNTIL THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.
I am in study hall listening to music.
I don’t have a life, do I?
145- Hello, Otzi! Sorry about your troubles with your exams, boarding school, and stepdad. Hope your life gets better!
*pies*
148- Hiya, R-tH! *pies back*
-145 *hopes your life will soon whoosh into a far more happy state!

:embarrassed: sorry, my HMTL was supposed to read
FRIDAY!
I LOVE Friday’s!
139- It’s a joke. (Not a very funny one, but a joke nonetheless)
148- Hi again RtH!
(PS- You might want to get over to the Ball before your wedding later this month or MissSwann will get mad)
154- Who doesn’t?
As kiwimuncher said, “FRIDAY!” Yes, Fridays rule. TGIF!!!!
Hello Otzi! Sorry about your stepdad and stuff. It takes a really horrible person to actually be hated, so I’m pretty sure he deserves it.
“Happiness is just a hairflip away.” ~Chris Crocker
Remember that, peoples.
Random people who I don’t know are coming to my house tomarrow at nine in the morning when I’m asleep and they’re going to be talking and making fun of how messy my house is. ANd I was told this after I started this post. WHY DOSN’T ANYONE INFORM ME OF ANYTHING??!!! *rushes off to clean room*
This happens often, by the way.
156-Whattt?? Why are random people coming to your house?
Hi people who haven’t been on the blog in a while!
Gahhh there are trailers for the Twilight movie on You…(video site!) I might actually see it. It doesn’t come out until December though. The only thing is that I like my visaulizations of the characters and what happens, and I don’t want the movie to ruin it. The person who plays Edward isn’t nearly as pale or stunningly good looking as I’d like him to be, but I guess they couldn’t find any real vampires to act.
Thanks, guys!
156: Chris Crocker is AWESOME.
156~ *flips hair* Ow, now my neck hurts. Have a good visit with these mysterios people, or at least try to.
La, la, la, tomorrow I’m going to a “tea party” at grandma’s house. Just because every girl wants her 16th birthday to be celebrated with a tea party with 3 little girls ranging in age from 5 to 9 or so. Two of which she’s only met once before….right?
Yup, this is the grandmother from whom I received placemats from for my 13th birthday. (They weren’t even nice placemats; in fact, they were hideous.) Fortuitously, she forgot my 14th altogether, and didn’t bother to do anything for the 15th. Interesting lady, she is.
159-Have fun! *Smiles Sickeningly Sweetly*
160~ “It is a pleasure I could easily forgo.” I think that’s from Pride and Predjudice, but I can’t rightly remember. Yes, it should be interesting. However, better things wait in store, I’m going to a historical event (French and Indian period fort) and spending the night there. In all liklihood, we’ll read through the Beggar’s Opera, and I’ll get to play music all night; one of my favorite things to do in the world.
I might not get on tomorrow, or the next day, so bye for now!!!
159- Tea parties with real tea and crumpets and straight-backed chairs rule. Kiddie tea parties do NOT. I had the former for my 14th birthday, and I may do it again.
Placemats, huh? Classy.
Tomorrow I’m going out to pizza with the cast of Eggs (full title: The Future is in Eggs)! It’ll be fun, and afterwards I’ll go look at 19th-century costumes with A, M, and H. I just hope E shows up, being the director and all, and since I need to ask him a VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION, namely, where’s the improv thing?
Oh yes. A very important question.
It’s super hot here. Well, actually it’s only 90 degrees, but being the Child of the Northwest that I am, it’s nearly intolerable.
157-Honestly, all I know is that they work with my parents. I went into the kitchen once to get a granola bar and there were like, ten people, none under the age of forty, and they smiled at me and said “hi” and asked if I remembered any of them. I said that I did (I didn’t) and went back to my room. I don’t know how they get in the front door without the mess that is The Living Room pushing them back out onto the porch.
158-If you like him, look up B. Scott. Even better. Chris, B, Chuck Norris and Gerard Way are my demi-gods…
I defiantly like Koko’s apparel. Sweetness.
I just got back from helping my friend dye her hair purple. It looks awesome.
I also am slightly depressed… one week one month one year…
154-Real Tea Parties are great. I should have one soon. It would be interesting to have a kokon as a tea party. Is anyone in the North East interested in having one?
Hi!
165-Sure! Any kokon is of interest.
I’m going to get to a couple of threads, and then I have to go for the night…
Red-tailed HAWK

163- Gerard is great, but Ray Toro is better. Nobody pays attention to the amazing guitarist with the crazy hair.
If you haven’t seen Prince Caspian yet, go see it NOW. It’s better than the first Narnia movie, and that’s saying something.
167- He has AWESOME hair! The drummer is an amazing drummer, though, and Frank Iero is pretty funny.
I’m going to go see Prince Caspian this weekend! Yeah, it looks pretty good. I CANNOT WAIT!
163- My demi-gods are Tre Cool, and Joey Ramone (Ramone is an idol), and Sid Vicious.
164- I’m dyeing my hair purple over the summer xD
I have one word to describe my current state of mind and body:
ACHOO!
I am hot. Meltingly hot. I slept without any blankets last night and I still woke up sweaty. Although that might have something to do with my waking up to find he sun blazing down upon in fiery and too-hot glory so that I really couldn’t open my eyes till I got up.
168- All hail Bob Bryar and Tre Cool! Awesome drummers! My demi-gods are Bob, Tre, and Travis Barker.
169- Fun stuff
I recomend having someone help you if you’re doing it yourself. And maybe one of you should know what you’re doing, it was nearly close to a disaster with me and Lee, neither of us know what we’re doing.
But I cannot wait for monday when we go to school.
I was woken up early this morning by vacuuming. At 8. Till 9:30. *curses*
Yay! It’s Saturday! And it looks like tonight will be clear!
Saturday! YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
I found out that the Radio Shack in town shows off its TVs by playing NASA TV!
I just went to lunch with the cast of Eggs, well, excepting LD (who’s sick) and LO (who isn’t in the cast anymore). It was very fun. I had a milkshake, which I’ve been wanting since the Ashland trip, and I’m going to go see Prince Caspian with ’em in about an hour. I can’t go see the improv thing, ’cause I don’t know when or where it is, and E seems to have vanished. He wasn’t at school on Thursday or Friday, and when B called him he didn’t answer. It would be rather a problem if our director unexpectedly disappeared two weeks before the show.
But since L is sick, she probably won’t know, and I don’t have the contact info of any other improv troupe members. I’ll just go to the country tonight instead and ask about it on Monday.
The weather has become a little more tolerable; the wind balances out the heat and it’s warm enough that I can wear sandals and a sun dress, but not so warm that the aforementioned sun dress sticks to my back.
176-What is Eggs?
SHADOWKAT I missed your return?! Noo!
Welcome back, good to see a familiar face. I was sad when you left, happy you’ve dropped back by.
176- Prince Caspian? I thought it was pretty good but not as good as the first one, in part because Hollywood MANGLED the book! *hates unfaithful adaptations* Near the end, I was mentally screaming “Oh, Lord, that did not just happen! How could they? I’d like to get my hands on the screenwriters! AAAGHH! C. S. Lewis is rolling over in his grave!” etc.
164-My girlfreind’s hair is black with a bright purple splotch. I love purple hair.
167-People say that I look like Mikey Way with glasses. I think they’re crazy, but there you go.
177-Little white things that hatch little chick–, oh. Never mind.
180 – You have glasses? I never knew that.
Hey, I’m on for just a moment!!!
I’m ROASTING because I’m in full colonial dress…..fun.
The “tea party” @ G’ma’s was okay, I survived at least. The two little girls from across the street were okay, and I even met their older brother.
Then Emily (one of the little girls) was making fun of us for talking.
The little blinking bar where I type looks weird right now, huh, weird.
182 – In full colonial dress? Huh. I’m in a summer dress.
Yay for summer!
I have not been on this thread for a while.
177- The Future is in Eggs. My play.
179- I don’t remember what happened in the book, so I thought it was really good. At least till the very end. I was very quietly crying ’cause one of the only bits from the book that I could remember was that Peter and Susan can’t come back to Narnia, and I was having to use my skirt to (very surreptitiously) wipe my eyes, and then It happened (no spoilers, see?), and my tears just sort of dried up and I rolled my eyes and didn’t care anymore. It’s amazing how that happens.
185- There was no basis for it in the book. Furthermore, it didn’t add much to the movie. I don’t understand why they introduced it– it’s the sort of thing you expect to see in fanfics, not in serious movie adaptations. It also added a plot complication that will probably appear in the third movie. I hate Hollywoodizing.
185-What’s it about? What happens?
165-I live in Ohio and there is a Victorian tea parlour not too far from my house. I haven’t been to it in ages though, so I don’t remember much except that there are suits of armor and a box of dresses for little girls to play dress up in at tea parties. I think last time I went there was before I knew I liked tea.
I went to my little cousin’s 5th birthday party and the theme was the movie Cars. There was a giant train set in the basement so I spent 3 hours crashing toy trains into each other with a bunch of 5 year olds. It was actually pretty fun, and at the end I had cake, except I actually just had a little cake and the sprinkles off the top of the icing.
I like sprinkles.
181-I don’t need them, but I do own a pair. Other than that, I love “borrowing” black, thick rimmed glasses from my friends and scaring people with them. I have the BEST stalker face. (Hence my previous name, Beavo the Online Stalker)
Wait, why would you know that I have glasses anyway? Lots of people on here do, I think.
186- How can It come into play during the third movie? Susan and Peter won’t even be in it.
187- You mean Eggs? It’s a French absurdist play basically revolving around a young couple, Jacques and Roberta, and their families, who want the young lovers to have children.
I am taking notes on the formation of NATO and it is excruciatingly difficult. Thank you for tolerating my excessively blah complaint. (recounted in robotic voice)
Not much to report, but I’m finally wearing my Marvel: Civil War shirt!
190- Caspian will, as will Edmund and Lucy (and Eustace Scrubb), so there may be some inquiries. If you know what I mean.
193- Yes. I see.
190-Who are you in Eggs?
195- Jacques’s mother, or, Mother-Jacques.
Our weather is being so weird. We had snow as late as April 30th, and now it’s been 80 degrees for the past few days. Whatever happened to spring?
167 – I saw Prince Caspian yesterday. I’m not sure if it was better then the first one, which is one of my all time favorite movies, but it was certainly close. And I really, really, really wish there was a thread where I could post spoilers. Maybe the movie thread? -wanders over there-
179 – Except for the bit at the end, I thought it was fairly faithful to the book. I even recognized several lines of dialogue, although I’m fairly certain that they borrowed a line from The Last Battle for the movie. But, yeah the part at the end was completely unneeded and out of place. I would have rather they spent that time at the start instead, which felt really rushed to me.
185 – They shouldn’t have put that part in. It didn’t add anything to the plot except make it feel really forced. Anyways, I think it’s sad how the actors that play Susan and Peter won’t get to come back for the next movie.
186 – Well, one of the two characters isn’t exactly in the next movie. I dunno how much of a complication it will create.
187 – Go see Prince Caspian, and trust me, you will know which part we are talking about
193 – I can’t see it being mentioned besides a line or two of dialouge, since he already knows she can’t come back to Narnia.
I have a feeling that people will be able to guess what happens by now, so I won’t talk about it anymore. Just hurry up and go see the movie, okay?
197- Yeah, we have weird weather too.
The thing is, Lucy irks me in the same way that Titty Walker irks me. I’m not entirely sure why. So I’m very sad Peter and Susan won’t be in the next movie. Lucy was better in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, though, so maybe it’ll be all right.
Hello. I would like to announce my 2 new obsessions which are Kimya Dawson and stop motion film.
I know nothing about the Chronicles of Narnia.
198 – I like Lucy. Edmund is also one of my favorite characters, so Dawn Treader won’t be that bad.
PRINCE CASPIAN SPOILER ALERT
*
*
*
I didn’t like the way they portrayed Reepicheep in the movie. At all. Do you realize that they never said his name in the movie? Not once. How appalling is that? I noticed that happened with a lot of characters, but since Reepicheep is back in the next movie as well, it makes no sense. I also imagined him to be gray, so him being brown was a bit strange.
Although, I did love the part with the tails. It was almost exactly like the book, and had such perfect timing in the middle of a supposedly solemn moment.
***
END SPOILER
199 – Go read them. Now. All of them. Or else.
PRINCE CASPIAN SPOILER.
200- I liked the way he was portrayed, except for his voice. The voice casting was all wrong. It should have been higher-pitched and more British.
I LOVED the scene you referred to. The little bagpipes
200- It’s very strange, but younger children who are given too much power or luck or favoritism drive me insane. I would like to see, for once, the responsible older girl have some adventures, as I am a responsible oldest girl myself, and I think that they are capable of much more than the stories allow. That’s one reason Linnets and Valerians is so good.
200 (spoiler) – Yes, they did. Only once, but they did.
I never saw the Narnia movies, but I ♥ the books!
202-Hmm….I’m the opposite. I prefer it when tiny little munchkins get launched into wild adventures and pull through, But only when they pull through on merit. And yes, I don’t mind seeing older children too. Actually, generally, as long as they’re children and make it based on merit, not some annoying circumstances, I like.
PRINCE CASPIAN SPOILERS
201 – Yeah, it was awesome. The movie was funny quite often, although sometimes it felt just a bit forced.
202 – I think a lot of Lucy’s charm, though, is that she is the youngest. If she was oldest, then a lot of her character wouldn’t work.
202 (Reepicheep) – Are you sure? I didn’t hear it, and I read a review online that mentioned that as well. Ah well. It’s clearly a movie for Narnia diehards.
204 re 202- I think the opposite. Someone who’s never read the book would probably enjoy it more.
200- They did say his name once, Badger said it when he was first introduced. Of course, they could have done a bit better.
Yeah, I think that bit at the end was unnecessary and didn’t help. I understand why they would have added that, but if you’re going to add it, don’t add it at the end. It eliminates the whole point. Otherwise, the movie was great.
Of course, I haven’t read the book in forever, so I’ve gotta read it again to see just how accurate the movie is.
-203 yes, i’ve read all the books, but haven’t seen the movies.

199-Kimya Dawson is awesome. Loose Lips is amazing.
I want to read the Narnia books, but I never got a chance. I saw the Lion Witch and Wardrobe though.
Um…this is confusing…
So far, the only random threads i followed were December Delisquence and Hot Soup. Sometimes shadow play, but i kept leaving.
Hi everyone, the phone is being nice today!
I had a great time last night and today, even though now I’m tired and really, really sore. Here’s a summary:
Last night we went to the fort and ended up staying in a different room than we had thought we were going to….one with only one bed, and one lumpy mattress…..so we all ended up scattered on the floor. I was in my sleeping bag on top of a blanket folded once, but I’m VERY stiff now, I feel like one huge bruise, that floor was hard! Mom and I played music together (she brought her cello this time) and it was fun and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. I think they were too drunk to realize that some of the stops and starts weren’t on purpose, oh well.
So, I woke up at 6 something (I’m not a morning person, even!) feeling cold, tired and stiff.
A wet and cold tramp to where breakfast was served commenced after I was dressed. It rained, and rained, and rained. And was cold. So they canceled the battle they were going to have. We read through the Beggar’s Opera, I was again Polly. This time we had a different MacHeath (my hubby), he was nice, I know I’ve met him before, but I didn’t know him very well….it was amusing.
The reading lasted a while, with multiple breaks in between. At one point I had a little kid on my lap as we were reading; he was wrapped up in my blanket and sitting on my lap because, as I mentioned before, it was quite cold. Amusingly enough, a visitor later asked me if he was my kid! Ack, no!
One of the other guys there, Skippy, has the same birthday as me (same year too). Hilarity ensued because of confusions over whose birthday it was, and then Libby’s dad realized it was both of ours today…..funny.
Those are just a few things, I also managed to walk farther on a pair of stilts than I ever have before. Ooh, aah, I’m sure you’re all impressed.

203,204- Oh, I have absolutely no objection to her age, indeed, if Lucy did not have so many of her siblings with her (like in the Dawn Treader), I would be very fond of her indeed. I merely dislike the fact that older siblings never seem to be the lucky, favored ones. Unless they’re favored by someone who’s not really that important to the story, setting it up so that the youngest can be the one who matters. And my entire dislike of my own sister only makes it worse; I really can’t stand fairy tales anymore.
205- Definitely. If I could remember anything about Prince Caspian I probably wouldn’t have liked it nearly as much; I never could pay much attention to that book. My favorite was The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
I just wrote a song on the guitar! Squee! Now I want to form a band. DX not gonna happen the only thing my friends are interested is boys, makeup, and, like, the Jonas Brothers.
205 – Yeah, sure. Although they’d be pretty confused, especially if they hadn’t seen the first movie. I mean, if you haven’t seen the first movie, you don’t get what Lucy’s little bottle is, all the stuff about the White Witch, and all that sort of thing…
206 – It was fairly accurate. Except for it and one of the battle scenes, it was pretty much the same. Much better then many other movies. (coughEragoncoughcough)
211 – Ah. Got it.
Chronicles of Narnia Spoilers: Do Not Read unless you have read ALL of the books AND seen Price Caspian
*
*
*
I really think that it is going to make for some complications in later movies. In case anybody has forgotten, Caspian ends up meeting someone towards the end of Dawn Treader that he eventually ends up marrying. Awkward? Really? Also, at the end of The Last Battle, when all of the old Narnians are re-emerging, Susan isn’t one of the Friends of Narnia. How would Caspian react to that?

End Spoiler
Has anybody seen Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanamo Bay?
It’s very, very crude.
Nudity, drug humour, sex humour, and stereotypes.
Nevertheless, I admit to being far more amused by it than I expected to be.
Anybody else here like reading Tintin books? Those are awesome.
213- the last battle is not an issue as they are stopping after dawn treader. there not making disney enough money.
216. Yeah, for some reason people only like to watch/read the first three books.
What to do when you are in the library surrounded by noisy kids:
1) Get headphones
2) Google “Celebrating Sagan”

212-You could still form a band… It’ll be tough, but trust me, as drummer in my band, I can tell you that it’s worth it. Try to get guys to join, they’ll be more likely to oblige. Anyway… It’ll be worth it!
213- Good point. I’m willing to bet that they may change the story a bit and include her as a Friend, though.
I need to see Prince Caspian! I loved the book, and I have read all of them.
I have NO Internet at home, so I finally got on here from school!
I think Narnia was confusing… I didn’t like it that much.
I
HATE
MY
STUPID
SCHOOL
.
Okay, so I was sick today. Not really sick, but a bad cold, headache and I got like five hours of sleep due to like, fever dreams etc. And I had a huge tech rehearsal for teh play, one of only two. (Play’s on Weds.) I was like, nergh, I’m never going to make it through school & rehearsal like this, so I stayed home. At three, I biked to school and went to the office to tell them I was here for rehearsal. DX and they said I couldn’t go because I didn’t go to school today. I’m not going to go into the sob-story details, but it was really horrible because I have a main part and tomorrow’s dress and my last rehearsal was a week ago and they revised the script and AGGGHH I’ll shut up now. DDDDX
216- Whaddaya mean they’re stopping at Dawn Treader? But- that means- No Magician’s Nephew! No Silver Chair! We’ll never see Jadis again!! *perishes*
On the other hand, maybe it’s a good thing. If they did that to Prince Caspian, there’s no telling what they’d do to the others.
223 – Tell me what it is!!! I read the book, PLEASE tell!!!
No spoilers, please. I’ll create a special “Narnia Spoilers” thread if enough people are desperate to know.
223- You want to get them made? get them to make POTC Level money.
Wow, I haven’t posted in awhile. Don’t expect to hear from me for the next 3 weeks or so. The spelling bee is in a week and I am preparing like crazy.
226- It’s probably a good thing that they won’t get made, considering that Disney MANGLED Prince Caspian.
225 – Aww. Phooey.
227 – Hello, speller! So nice to see you.
Yay! I just came back from a track meet that went extremely well and now, due to adrenaline, I have a surplus of energy!
I ran my fastest mile yet: *dramatic music* 5:57. So yeah! I am pumped. Obnoxious boast over! Thank you for your time…
215- Tintin’s cool. 8)
I honestly never got into those books. Now I have to go reread them so that I can be properly outraged.
I’m back! Sorry for the rather lengthy absence, but I’ve been busy with Model UN, my French project, and Facebook.
Hello Musers!
I am a voice from the distant past….. I haven’t posted since summer vacation, but when the Muse calls who am I to disobey?
The thunder booming loudly to aid my dramatic entrance is my pet, feel free to tremble and feed it quail at anytime.
In truth, I am jubulent to return to the ranks of my beloved museblog,
232 – I remember you!
233 – Hm. I don’t remember you.
232- Hi! Glad to know you didn’t vanish into thin air after all.
It’s been a terribly long time, hasn’t it?
233-
*pies La Mort and Zyviva*
Well, the improv thing was not the day before yesterday.
It’s Saturday, which is an equally bad time. Oh well. *shrugs*
234- That’s good! I’ve actually only been gone a week, but it seems longer.
216 – Be you serious? Darn it.
217 – They all miss out, then. Those were some of my favorite.
219 – I’m sure they would.
223 –
Major shudders…
225 – I’ve considered moving this discussion to the existing movies thread. But I’m lazy. So that might actually be a good idea.
228 – It wasn’t that bad, other then it.
-212 yes, i wish i could form a band. I’ve written a few songs…lyrics/music.
-225 please DO!
234- Then allow me to introduce myself. My name is Zyviva. Very nice to meet you, Kokonilly & Nilly & Romulus. (Is that abbreviated somehow? If not, I am more then happy to call you by your anointed name) As can only be expected of a Museblogger, I am completely strange.
235- It has been a heart wrenchingly long time, yet your memory lingers still. At least, I remember Alice. Are Timon (and Monica) friends, siblings, alter egos or none/all of the above?
236- It does seem like all time spent away from museblog lasts longer.
212/238- I have not written any songs, nor am I part of a band. However, I am writing a musical with two of my friends.
231- They’re great! I’ve read:
The Blue Lotus
Cigars of the Pharaohs
Tintin in America
Destination Moon
Explorers on the Moon
The Calculus Affair
Flight 715
239 – Call me Kokonilly. Nilly is my Muse and Romulus is my daemon.
240-*rants* I adore Tintin. I’ve read all of them except for Adventures in Congo and USSR. I ♥ Milou!
Hello, Zyviva. My name is Cat’s Meow. I’ve been around for a while, although I don’t believe we have met. You can call me Meow for short.
Zyviva- Ever since the Meet Our Muses thread, it has been a fad to include the name of your personal Muse in your name. Daemons are optional.
I remember you. Do you remember me? You probably know me as Prarilius Canix, or, if you go far back enough, captain_cynomys, although back then I was far more n00biful and spent most of my time on the Pie War thread.
241- Very well, Kokonilly. It must be mighty convinient to know who your muse and daemon are.
245 – Actually, I just went on the Golden Compass site. It tells you your daemon on there. Mine’s a fox.
I would love to say I’m older than Meow, but I can’t find her on the “Who’s Here” list. I came here 8/28/06, about 2.5 months after POSOC.
(233, 239, 245) Hello, ʑyviva! Welcome back to the blog. I trust the MBers have
pied you to within an inch of your lifegiven you appropriately warm and respectful greetings. How have you been doing? Have you heard anything from Phoenix lately? (Note to neophytes: I’m referring to Phoenix the Muser, not Phoenix the Mars probe.)243- *Bows*
my pleasure, m’lady meow.
244- Ah, yes. Good ol’ Prarilius Canix.
Unfortunatly for me, I seem to have missed the vital introductions that must have taken place on that thread. The name of my muse remains a mystery.
246- A most intruging site. I shall have to see for myself.
247- I have been doing quite well, although my juggling of both school work and social demands has left me without the energy to visit museblog until now. The respectful greetings were quite tasty and I enjoyed them thoroughly.
I have heard from Phoenix. She was complaining quite eloquently about the snow that still troubles her habitat. it seems that birds of fire don’t mix with cold very well.
246 – Nope, sorry. My first post (as WizGirl, by the way, which is why you can’t find me under Cat’s Meow on the Who’s Here list) was on 4/18/06. Of course, I promptly disappeared after a few posts and didn’t return for several months, later proceeding to disappear several more times. To the extreme annoyance of Alice and everyone else on the RRRs. Anyways, sorry, but I’m still technically older.
Due to an accident, my Muse ate my dæmon. Ah well! ((See Meet Your Muses for the whole story…))
(249) Next time you write to her, please
pie her to within an inch of her lifeconvey our warm and respectful greetings and tell her that we miss her and to wear plenty of layers.252- Will do.
230- 5:57?!?!? Dang! Are you on your track team or something? My school’s record is 5:57 (I think)
239- Wow, musicals are tough to write. I’m writing a play (not a musical) and a parody of The Music Man, but my songwriting is confined to rock music and an occasional piano piece.
(253) By the way, I highly recommend that you stop by the Hare & Hedgepig. I think you’d enjoy it.
242- Yes, Milou rocks! And the Thompson twins are hilarious!
252- Phoenix, despite missing you all, will not be returning. She says to inform you that she is “not nearly as obnoxious in real life”.
254- It is really hard to write. It’s also an insane amount of fun to write. It helps that there are three of us and we all have different strengths. My focus is dialouge, one of my friends is the primary lyricists and the third friend writes the music.
Welcome back, ʑyviva! Nice to see people return here. You too, La Mort.
*feeds quail to the Thunderstorm*
258- The lighting is just my thunder’s way of saying thank you.
My thunder needs a name, any ideas?
239- Good heavens, no! *imagines multiple siblings* *shudders* A while back there was a discussion on daemons and muses, and I have not the heart to cut them out of name. Timon is my daemon, a mouse, and Monica is my muse, a miniature violinist.
I never met Phoenix; a pity, but I’ve read enough old threads to know who she is.
Oh, dear. I currently retain a very high grade in science, but I have just received the projected quarter four grades, and now I’m concerned. I shall have to do very well indeed in order to maintain my A.
I have a simply petrifyingly enormous English paper on whether or not LOTF should be banned; my opinion is no way, but that hardly matters as we still need sources to represent both sides of the argument, and I still don’t understand precisely why it was banned in the first place.
I met a very sweet black rabbit yesterday. Her name was Mini-me, but in my mind she was Hyzenthlay.
She let me pet her without any fuss at all.
259- Thor?
How to keep your dog amused for hours:
1) Get a biscuit
2) Get an empty soda bottle
3) Cut off the little plastic ring part near the cap
4) Put the biscuit in the bottle and screw the cap on
5) Give to dog
6) When the dog finally gets to the biscuit, put the pieces into the recycling bin
161- a bit cliched…..
160- books shouldn’t be banned. however, books that profess to be nonfiction should be fact checked. I think LOTF was banned because of its presentation of people as evil. After all, we must convince school children that people are perfect.
I think it’s ironic that places have banned Fahrenheit 451.
260 – LOTF? What’s that?
262- Hah, yes. They ban a book about banning books. Go figure.
263- Lord of the Flies.
263- In Star Wars, it means Legacy Of The Force, a line of novels.
Does anyone know anything about an actual ban on “Lord of the Flies”: where and when it was banned, by whom, for what reasons? Does your assignment require you to find out any of that information, or only to invent reasons someone might have for wanting to ban the book?
266- I’m not entirely sure that I need to know when it was banned and by whom, but I do need to find actual sources stating why they banned the book, as opposed to statements about why they might have banned the book. It was on the banned list; it would be a proper joke if it turned out not to be banned after all.
259 – Is your thunder male or female thunder?
Male: Brontes, Dhvani, Dhwani, Donner, Meghanada, Ra’d, Raam, Raamah, Raamia, Raamiah, Raamya, Rad, Raiden, Taran, Torin
Female: Kaminari, Meghana, Thora
Either: Brontë, Halulu, Hekili, Kahekili
Baby Names websites are incredibly useful. All of those names mean thunder.
266 – I just Googled “Banning Lord of the Flies” and clicked on the first link. It has some reasons that Alice could used, but they all sounds pretty dumb.
267 – I used Google again. This time I Googled “libraries that have banned Lord of the Flies”. I came up with a website that said this:
Challenged at the Dallas, TX. Independent School District high school libraries (1974); challenged at the Sully Buttes, S. Dak. High School (1981); challenged at the Owen, N.C. High School (1981) because the book is “demoralizing inasmuch as it implies that man is little more than an animal”; challenged at the Marana, Ariz. High School (1983) as an inappropriate reading assignment. Challenged at the Olney, Tex. Independent School District (1984) because of “excessive violence and bad language.” A committee of the Toronto, Canada Board of Education ruled on June 23, 1988, that the novel is “racist and recommended that it be removed from all schools.” Parents and members of the black community complained about a reference to “niggers” in the book and said it denigrates blacks. Challenged in the Waterloo, Iowa schools (1992) because of profanity, lurid passages about sex, and statements defamatory to minorities, God, women and the disabled. Challenged, but retained on the ninth-grade accelerated English reading list in Bloomfield, N.Y. (2000). From Newsletter on Intellectual Freedom: an. 1975, p. 6; July, 1981, p. 103; Jan. 1982, p. 17; Jan, 1984, p. 25-26; July 1984, p. 122; Sept. 1988, p. 152; July 1992, p. 126; Mar. 2000, p. 64.
Is that what you need?
269- That’ll definitely help. But I don’t remember some of those reasons. Where did the bad language come in? Or the “lurid passages about sex”? And I can’t remember the word “nigger” being used.
I’m confused.
268- my thunder is genderless. Kahekili is an interesting option, I shall discuss it with my thunder.
Most reasons to ban books are stupid. The only reason I can think of to ban a book that isn’t stupid is if it presents fiction as fact.
Or else banning porn from school libraries.
In most cases, it sounds as if groups of parents were objecting to teachers’ assigning the book to their classes.
270 – Pretty much.
273-A Neophyte? *Key Lime Pies*
Hi, I’ve been gone, or this post would have been much sooner, but I LOVE Tintin et Milou! I’ve got all the books! I don’t even know what else to say, but I’d love to discuss…
269, 270- I’ve read that the killing of the sow can be interpreted sexually, and I don’t think the word nigger is used (but the bemoaned self referencing by Ralph about dirty brown skin could be part of that). Everything else seems to apply. If those elements were removed though, the whole point would be missed.
274 – Oops. There goes another alter ego.
275- Well, if the word nigger isn’t used, then they can’t ban the book for using it. I’ll have to double-check, but if it really doesn’t occur, then there’s another piece of evident to crush the argument.
(277) It was in chapter 11 of the original edition. Piggy used it when contrasting Jack’s followers with Ralph’s (“Which is better…”). Modern editions change the word to either “Indians” or “savages.” So the book might not be banned nowadays, but it has been censored.
278- Oh, my edition may have used savages. I think it did, actually. I don’t have the book though, having turned it in to the library, after which it was checked out by B, who lent it to her friend D, which quite frankly is extremely irresponsible treatment of library books.
249- Zyv! (This is e~a) tell Phoenix hi for me! I really, really appreciated her posts when she was here. How long are you staying for? It is good to see you back!
Greetings, zyviva. It’s great to see you again. Makes me feel quite jubilant, in fact.
269- If they can (try to) ban LOTF for those reasons, why aren’t books like To Kill A Mockingbird or HG2G banned? It doesn’t make sense to me- either ban everything or nothing.
Speaking of book bannings, did you know that everything involving Mickey Mouse was banned from Italy during Mussilini’s reign?
282- why ban HG2G? TKAM has been banned in the past.
280- I plan on staying for a while, though I may take a break for finals.
281- I feel so special!
282- People only ban books they disagree with/dislike, even if a book they agree with/like does the same thing.
(284, 282) Zyviva — I’m not sure about that. It’s possible to like and agree with a book while still considering it inappropriate for some readers or some purposes. For example, I suspect most of you would be surprised if a teacher assigned LOTF to a second-grade class, and you might try to change the assignment to something more suitable. Would that make you a book-banner?
283 – My humanities teacher said that she would have us read HG2G this year, but she felt that some parts were inappropriate after which I begged her for days to have us read it, but she held her ground. We’re reading 2001: A Space Odyssey instead. (Incidentally, this is the same teacher who edited Twelfth Night so that Sir Toby drank milk.)
282- That’s interesting. Did you know that the new Mayor of Rome is a neo-fascist?
I think there needs to be a difference established here between banning, censoring, and not teaching. Not giving LOTF to second graders wouldn’t be banning it unless it was removed from the school library, but cutting out chapters would be censoring.
(287) On the other hand, school libraries don’t have room or money to buy more than a small fraction of all the books in print at any time. Clearly, the people running the libraries have to decide not to buy most of those books. Does that constitute banning?
287- I concur. There is a difference between asigning a book and banning it. To asign it is to force someone to read it, while banning forbids people to read it. I would not asign LOTF to a second grade class, but I would not forbid a second grader from reading it.
I just sent a letter to Muse. It shamelessly butters up the editors and contains a photo of me reading Muse on the Moon, so I think it has a good chance of getting published.
290~ Did you include some threats as to the dreadful consequences of the editor’s not publishing it? That seems to be an important part too. By the way, did you tell us that you went to the moon? How was it?
Actually, I can reveal that the editors get tired of flattery and threats. They long for letters that take a fresh, original approach. But nobody ever writes letters like that, so they are forced to publish the ones that come in — even if they all sound alike.
The moon, you say? Well, it’s a quiet place for reading, I imagine.

292~ Heh, I imagine all these faithful readers threatening hideous consequences would get tiring after a while….and even shameless flattery too. Oh well. I’ve never written, but I’ll keep that in mind if I do.
For now though, I’m off. “So fill to me the parting glass, goodnight and joy be with you all!”
290- Good heavens! I assume we can’t see your face, right?
292- I sent a letter without flattery or threats once, and including a nice picture of an HPB, and it didn’t get published at all. *pouts*
Oh well. I should try again.
291- I went aboard the trusty spaceship Microsoft Paint. It’s not as fast or sleek as the Photoshop, but I find it reliable.
292- I’ll take that into consideration next time I write. And for the record, I made a point of not including any threats. I simply thought that the Muses (fictional characters- people tend to forget that) get altogether too much credit, and in my experience, the Editors are the ones who get blamed when things go wrong. Nobody threatens the Muses to try and get their letters published. They may well flatter the Editors, but I’ve don’t remember a letter which did. Take the Mysterious Ten Dollars Incident. The benefactor gave one dollar to each Muse and one to the Editors- as though the sum total of all the Editors deserved the same amount as a single cartoon character. That sort of riled me. Also, the incident… dang, I just forgot what it was. Oh, yes. Remember when the Editors responded to a particularly inventive threat by saying “Sometimes we like it when people are nice to us?” I figured they’d like a break from the endless rain of rabid electric donkey pies and suchlike, so I sent them gift cards to the Oasis Mirage.
295- No, we can’t. Not quite.
ear. friggin’. infection.
PLAY TODAY AT 2
i need antibiotics! fetch the doctor to my side! I must get to school before 1:15!
eurgh.
297- Figures.
I have a rehearsal after school today. This is making me curiously unhappy, seeing how badly yesterday’s rehearsal went. *shudders* It was fine until E had us stop for notes, and then I had my bit where I had to cry on W’s shoulder, but seeing that he’s so much taller than me, it didn’t work out very well, and so I stopped and went back to fix it, something we had just been told NOT to do. Then I was so humiliated at having done that, I missed my next few lines, and although I regained my composure, people still kept skipping lines, or blocking, and we became utterly lost.
