I occasionally write my own piano music…
occasionally.
(first post?)
I don’t play any instruments.
And I don’t listen to a whole lot of music either.
But I like music, nonetheness.
New thread, yay. Thank you GAPA(s). (:
I am having a love affair with music right now. Specifically Modest Mouse, still, it’s what I need at the moment. Right now Trailer Trash.
I tried writing music on Finale a few times… it doesn’t really work… I wish I had a guitar to just doodle around on or could play a piano or something. Flute’s not exactly a lay-down-on-the-bed-staring-into-space-while-playing instrument.
It doesn’t sound good that way, at least, and is rather uncomfortable.
Anyone else a hugemongous fan of Respighi?
Instrument played by Pan: Piano
Music listened by Pan: Classical, Wizard Rock, Folk, Movie/Musical Soundtracks.
My favorite place in the world is the side of a piano listening to the music.
1-It’s very good when you do!
3-Neither is piano! Very hard to lift into one’s bed…
6-I love to sing right near a piano. It makes it so much more … powerful…
3- I like Finale, except it’s almost impossible to just sit down and write music- you have to know what you’re writing.
Am I the only one here who is most comfortable with wooden sticks in my hands? Or are there any other drumers out there?
3/8–Ugh, I had Finale Notepad (the free version, not even the downloadable kind). Talk about mindnumbingly slow. But then I got Reason, and it’s amazingly complicated but really cool. You can write like full scores on it and everything. I’m currently writing the soundtrack to the movie I’m screenwriting/graphic-noveling/just noveling.
*Sigh* I love piano. I played for 9 years, and even tho I don’t take lessons anymore I play like everyday. Right now I’m working on memorizing some Vince Guaraldi pieces (he wrote all the Peanuts stuff plus some really nice piano jazz). Also Fur Elise (the full classical version) because even after 9 years I never learned it. I was DEPRIVED! (not really)
I really want to learn electric guitar. My dad has an acoustic, so I’ve been teaching myself on that, but it’s not really the same. Really I just want to get a really loud amp and play heavy metal at night, or something awesome like that.
1-So do I! But so far it has been one piece, called minor cherry. Should I send it in?
9- That’s what makes electric guitars so awesome. My friend is fixing an old, broken guitar, and when he’s done, he’ll have three electrics and one acoustic. (His brother has two electrics on top of that) I may ask him for the old Strat he doesn’t use anymore. If not, I’ll just buy one myself and wake the neighbors up at three in the morning.
yaay, thank you!
i went and saw blue oyster cult yesterday, and marched in the parade today. will tell more about both when i have time (ie, not now)
I went to go see Mark Knopfler on sunday…
*Sigh* Natasha Bedingfield is at the House of Blues tonight down in Hollywood…*tears for not having driver’s license*
Listening to: Feeling This by Blink-182
Clarissa says I’m not allowed to listen to Cobra Starship until I see snakes on a plane, but I cheated, and they’re pretty good.
10:
I write a lot, but they are usually half a page each.
I love piano! I play it very badly until I memorize the song and practice it about 10,000 times. So I can play about 5 1/2 songs.
I’ve asked this a billion times, but does anyone else like Fleetwood Mac? Anybody?
I like to write my own music… piano and guitar.
I jot down random notes on a blank staff that sits in the stand. It would just look like scribbles to anyone with a few halves, quarters, and rests that can just be made out here and there. But I can assure you, it’s music.
I’m not the best at piano, I don’t take lessons, though my sister does. I took enough lessons to know how to play, but not all that fancy stuff.
As for guitar, that’s different…
15- I love that song! I’ve been listening to it nonstop for weeks now. Blink-182 rocks rocked. *sigh* Why did they have to break up?
13-really‽ *insane jealousy* love him!
My music taste is really random. I don’t like a song until I’ve heard it a million times, which explains why I have basically the same taste in music as my parents. Even if I get a new Beatles CD, I won’t like it until I’ve heard it 4-5 times.
My mp3 player is therefore full of music from “The Pirates who Don’t Do Anything” to the Spamalot soundtrack to Beatles.
Music is good.
Listening to: Feels Like Heaven (Fiction Factory)
Yes, I know it’s old. My dad played it all the time when I was five. And ever since. So, you could say it’s a fond childhood memory.
Now listening to: Heaven is Closer (???)
I know it’s old. Be quiet.
Scratch that. I have no idea what the heck I’m listening to. Ah well.
Mooooosic?
Hmmm…I love classic rock, like The Beatles, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, etc., but when it comes to more modern things, my tastes are a bit eclectic. A partial list:
The Arctic Monkeys
The Kooks
Muse (aha! ahahahahaha!)
Coldplay
Death Cab for Cutie
!!!
Crystal Castles
L.E.S Artistes
Voxtrot
New Faces
Stanley Jordan
Queen Ifrica
M.I.A.
Cake
Kanye West
Nelly
(shamefacedly)…Carrie Underwood
Listening to- my brother eating breakfast. (no, it’s not a song.)
I like lots of music. i just can’t think right now.
Look up the music video to “The City is at War” by Cobra Starship. Mucho pies.
Oh MY! I LOVE playing piano! I do believe I have played it since I was in the second grade! *hugs piano books*
Right now, my one frustration is Fur Elise. I should have learned it 1 or 2 years ago, but I just never got to it. I thought I had it down pat, but my piano teacher told me I had the timing wrong on this one part (I had to play it twice as fast) and we wanted me to play the whole song several times faster anyway. Arg! I can’t get the twice as fast part. My fingers always seem to fumble somewhere. And now my family has been driven crazy by it because I’ve played that one part constantly over and over so many times that they’re going mad. *sigh*
24) Don’t be ashamed! I LOVE Carrie Underwood! She is my most favoritest singer EVER!
I’ve been playing piano for *counts on fingers* 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 years now.
I got this awesome book called “100 Greatest Piano Pieces of All Time”. It’s pretty much my FAVORITE right now. It has everything from Bach to contemporary.
Speaking of contemporary, has anyone (probably a piano player) heard of Alberto Ginastera? I’ve played his stuff a few times, it’s pretty sweet.
Current fave song: Four Minutes, by Madonna and JT. I know. I can’t understand it, either. But if it helps, I just got into Elvis as well. I’m about to go download a bunch of his musica.
I used to play piano. I quit.
24-I love Death Cab for Cutie!!!
I love Cat Power’s song Sea of Love. It’s so adorable!!! And a bit cheesy, but hey…
I love listening to sad songs and love songs even if they make me cry.
let’s play a game! (i stole it from facebook, don’t worry) post the first line of the first ten songs that come up on shuffle, and have people try to guess the song name and artist (no googling!)
alternatively, we could just post the first five songs that come up on shuffle and go “ooh, i like that song” or “uugh, why do you have that” or “hmm, never heard of that”
ooor we could just talk about music. but i’m in a game-playing mood i guess
24-(double post, sry) !!!? love them! i didn’t know anybody on here had heard of them
32 – Okay…
Isn’t it strange?
Don’t think me unkind
Yesterday
Here comes the sun
Here come old flattop he come grooving up slowly
Picture yourself in boat on a river
Spam
I recall the time they found those fossilized mosquitoes
First to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect
Don’t let me down
Half of those are blatantly obvious. Oh well.
my biggest ambition at the moment is how to turn my amp up to level 10, and play some guitar…
(35) Why not all the way up to 11? (*pleads forgiveness for succumbing to an irresistible “This is Spinal Tap” moment*)
34- I don’t know any of them! 8-0
Or wait. Is “picture yourself on a boat in the river”, um, what’s-it-called, “Picture Book?” By some poppy sort of British group? The Kinks?
I dunno.
1) Willie Taylor and his youthful lover
2) The wind is in from Africa
3) If there’s a way to say I’m sorry

I like Five For Fighting *random*

I also love Kimya Dawson’s music!!!!
She is amazing.

This shouldn’t be to hard, I bought a lot of popular songs for a party.
9 – Me too! Except for me, the interest is there, but the will to actually sit down and learn to play is not. :p
12 – Lucky! I wish they would play here, but I don’t think they’re scheduled to anytime soon.
24 – I like most of those bands too.
26 – I love that song! I listened to it nonstop when I first got it, but I haven’t seen the music video. *goes to watch*
29 – I know what you mean; “Four Minutes” is inexplicably addictive.
Ugh, well, I was going to do the game thing, but my iTunes is all frozen up. :p
Um, that was supposed to be an eight with a closing parenthesis, but I guess HTML just likes to make me mad.
Let’s see what happens with other kinds of parentheses and brackets:
8]
8}
8>
Nothing, eh? Just good old 8) — and even he doesn’t transform if you put another character right after him, e.g., 8).
Sorry for the double post, but here’s my guesses for the previous song games…
41 – 1) I know it’s by the Beatles, but I’m not sure of the title; is it “Get Back”?
46 – 9) “Teenagers” by MCR, right?
50-Yuss.
44- 1) Move Along by the All American Rejects
44- 10) Sweet home alabama? lynyrd skynyrd

to be honest, if i saw just the first lines of these songs i might get like two. but maybe you’re better than me good luck
oops, i did the mr. cool thing
i read all the above too. guess i wasn’t paying attention…
in the beginning of this thread, some people were talking about music software….does anyone else here have Sibelius? That’s what I use, but I don’t write that much music. When I do it’s usually at the command of my violin teacher…..sometimes at gunpoint. (Nah, actually my current teacher is pretty cool, my first one though….yikes.)
When I do actually write songs I usually find it easiest to do on the lap dulcimer. Probably because I can’t play the beast very well so I have t make up my own stuff to play…..oh well.
46) 1) I Wanna Be A Rock Star by Nickleback
6) Sk8r Boy by Avril Lavigne
10) When You Were Young by The Killers
54) Lap Dulcimer? Sweet. My grandparents have a dulcimer. And a mandolin, but I haven’t figured out how to play it yet.
55~ I can’t play the thing either. It’s pretty easy though, you sit it on your lap, strum the strings and put your finger just behind the frets. Easy as pie.
37- Well… it is by a British group, to be fair… The Beatles…
52 re 46 re 6): Yeah, I had that same reaction, it’d been really popular in like 5th grade I remember…
I know a lot of the songs listed (well, the more obscure ones actually, and the ones by The Beatles) so I won’t bore you all by listing them. Here’s mine:
1) Imagine noe
okay the comment box just vanished and I have no idea where the cursor is. TO BE CONTINUED IN THE NEXT POST
AHH dear is this what it is like to be blind? it kind of feels like it. /blind/deaf. cause I can’t tell if I’ve made a mistake.
/ramble
2)
3)
1) “Imagine there’s no heaven”
2) op, don’t know this song well, I just get it, let’s see if I can make out what they’re saying… “Take, take all you need, [woooorrrrdsss I can’t make out], and I sell your memories for 50 pounds a year”
3) Oh no there goes the box again, we’ll try without it anyway. “”You come out at night, that’s when the energy comes [and the dark sides light, and the vampires roooaaaaam, you stretch your *** to where in a suicide poem, and a cross, from a faith, that died… before Jesus came…)” (sorry, I like that song…)
4)
5)
6)
7)
8)Okay, I am totally lost again. Maybe I’ll just stop now. Or type this up in word instead.
Does this comp even have word?
x_x.
40 – Correct for songs 3, 4, 6.
41 – Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner… (Get Back)
Desmond has his barrow in the market place… (Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da)
And correct for all guesses, BTW.
44 – Correct.
58 – “Imagine”
1) “Imagine there’s no heavenâ€
2) op, don’t know this song well, I just get it, let’s see if I can make out what they’re saying… “Take, take all you need, [woooorrrrdsss I can’t make out], and I sell your memories for 50 pounds a yearâ€
3) “You come out at night, that’s when the energy comes (and the dark sides light, and the vampires roooaaaaam, you stretch your *** to where in a suicide poem, and a cross, from a faith, that died… before Jesus came…)†(sorry, I like that song…)
4) “There was a time, eating your mind, eating your heart and your soul”
5) “Look, around, where do you belong? (don’t beeee affrraaaaaaid, you’re not the oooonly oneeeee)”
6) “I don’t know you but I want you all the more for that.”
I… do not know this laungage and it is a friend’s band… Lykkejegaren is the song title and it is by Elvarhoi, so skipping to the next one:
7) “I hurt myself today, to see if I still feel (I foccus, on the pain… the only thing that’s real)”
8). “Staring out the window of somebody’s pickup truck well I never mind the boredom cause I use it for a crutch (just to get me to that place it’s a different state of sane and every time I try to change I always end up quite the same)”
9) “Amidst this fog my body twitches with the wolves growl, a snuff utopia for the soul (wake up! emerging from this cruel poetry/the real nightmare is the prison called reality!!)
10) “Well all’s not well, but I’m told that it’lll all be quite nice (we’ll be drowned in boots like mafia, but your feet’ll still float like christ/Well I’ll be damned… they were right/I’m drowning upside down-own-own… my feet afloat like christ/I’m in heaven tryin’ to figure out which sack/they’re gonna stuff us athiests into, and Peter and his monley laugh/And I laugh with them… not sure what at.)”
So I’ve learned from this experiment I cannot bear to just post one line. Esspecally if I really like the song. Be greatful my fingers can’t keep up with most of the music.
60 – 1) “Imagine”
60–loverly songs, there. Really cheerful and happy.
51 & 52, re 44–correct
I just discovered that I really love the ‘Last of the Mohicans’ soundtrack. MUST DOWNLOAD!
Double post, sorry, but you know what’s really freaky? I went onto Myspace and looked at “The Beatles” profile. Okay. Then, I wandered off to the specific members. I saw Paul McCartney’s. Fine. Then Ringo Starr’s. Fine. Then I wandered upon George Harrison’s. He has been a member since 2006. Feeling something was amiss (I knew he was dead, and his last login was last August or something) I Googled him. He’s been dead since 2001.
62- Hey, number 5 is a happyish song! Even if it’s slow and *sounds* sad… XD
I do love sad songs, though. They seem more realistic. Maybe because I usually feel like writing poetry and stuff when I’m depressed.
Requires experimentation, I believe. FOR SCIENCE I MUST NOW CONSUME UNHEALTHY AMOUNTS OF CHOKLIT ICE CREAM AND STAY ONLINE TALKING TO FRIENDS ALL NIGHT. YES.
Current favorite bands:
My Chemical Romance
Mindless Self Indulgence

63–Well you know his ghost is still up and about.
You can do anything on MySpace. Someone created an Edward Cullen page complete with a profile and everything. Someone with waaaaaaay to much time on their hands…
50, 59- Both correct!
Anymore guess for post 41?
68- I know all the Beatles ones in it, 4) “I see trees of green…” I know this song but not the name of the guy who sings it, a guy with a kind of gravelly voice?
Wasn’t that song in Toy Story also? Probably where I recognize it from, heh.
6)”It was a long and dark December” From the rooftops I remember, there was snow… white snow… duh dun, duh dun, DUHN okay no more Coldplay for Jade for a while.
My favorite bands:
My Chemical Romance
Sum 41
Blink 182
+44
Linkin Park
Green Day
Relient K
Skillet
67 – But he had friended Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr!!! That’s what really freaked me out!
it was probably somebody with some connection to the beatles that made it. actually, i’m guessing not even paul and ringo made their own myspace pages. it’s like an official website thing, where somebody else runs it and the beatles just approve or endorse or pay for it or whatever.
(69) Are you talking about “What a Wonderful World” as sung by Louis Armstrong? I keep wanting to sing:
I see skies of blue, seas of green
In our yellow submarine
And I think to myself, What a wonderful world.
72 – Oooookay. *calms down*
41–4) Darn, Robert beat me to it.
Fave soundtracks: Batman Begins, Pirates of the Caribbean (all of them), National Treasure, Les Choristes, Memoirs of a Geisha…the list goes on and on.
73-whenever the fact that you are brilliant begins to subtly slip out of my memory, you come up with something like this. epic win. literal lols
(76) “MuseBlog: Rendering Life More Surreal Since 2005.”
67- one of those was created by me…
77- *chokes on turkey and swiss sandwich, splattering goo across the computer monitor* OMG LITERAL LAUGH OUT LOUDS PEEING PANTS DYING *choke choke choke*
Robert, you make me laugh.
69&73- Uh, *stutters* hmm, *looks for answer Ah, yes, correct. Oh, and the Coldplay song (Violet Hill) was correct too.
78 – You made an “Edward Cullen” site?
80- *hands on hips* Yes, yes I am a shameless fangirl! Yes, I made Edward’s myspace!
I like the Juno soundtrack!
78-*uncontrollable giggling* C’mon, he’s not that great, is he– *is attacked by Twilight fans*
82- Exactly. He can read minds…. I mean, really, think how much fun that would take out of life if anyone else had the faintest idea what you were talking about. Not to mention that he drinks blood….
*runs away as the fangirls attacking beavo finally register my presence*
81 – *is also attacked by Twilight fans*
On cow, now this thread has been converted into a Twilight thread…..eew.
I read the books, after being practicaly forced to at gunpoint by two of my best friends. I wasn’t really that impressed. I’ll read the last book of the series, but only after it is available from the library, no way am I going to buy it. One can only stand descriptions of Eddie’s “marble” features so many times…….c’mon, give it a break.
82- *attacks* Yes, he IS that great Beavo! Deal with it.
But technically I prefer Jasper. I dunno, I like the mysterious aspect of him.
85- How exactly did your friends get you to read them? Because my friends are being verrry stubborn about reading them… I might need some more persuasive tactics…
I am REALLY tired of twilight. Honestly, it was good for what it was (which was trashy romance, btw) but really. It’s not something to obsess over.
Let’s get back to MUSIC, eh? Lately i’ve been listening to way too much rusted root. it’s a bit of a problem. good stuff though
Last Twilight post from me I think:
My favorite character was definetly Renee. I liked Edward, but not THAT much. I think perfect people are boring to some extent, even if they drink blood and can throw a car through a wall.
Yeah, Twilight’s only good until everyone starts obsessing over it.
Are we talking about Twilight? I love it! My friend has an icon that says “I’ll be your Bella if you be my Edward” It is really weird though. My older sister is done with all of them and can’t wait until Breaking Dawn come out.
86~ Simple: I like to read. Besides, I was getting sick of having them gush all the time and not know what they meant, so I decided to read the books, if I liked them, to join in the guching, if i hated them to tell the said friends so, and hopefully move to new topics of conversation. Unforunately, now they just stare at me and go, “You didn’t like them? Really?? How??? But, but……” *sigh* so much for my tactics.
87~ Yeah, I just don’t care much for trashy romance novels.
88~ You’ve read Twilught?? *giggles uncontrolably* Sorry, it’s just a funny thought…..
Anyway, What’s the Rumpus is coming out tomorrow!!!! *is excited* I’ll probably end up getting it in a few weeks though, since tomorrow is going to be packed, and then sometime soon we’re going to the lake. *sigh* *sings*
I’ve been meaning to bug the library about getting more cds, including Gaelic Storm, but I don’t think I can for a while since they just got me the Sandman books ♥ I’m not going to bug them for a month or so in thanks
Dream > Edward. Any day.
Moving back to music now, it seems every picture I take/edit/post on deviantart has a song title/line from a song as it’s title/caption. Music works itself into all forms of my art…
93-do you have any gaelic storm i can steal? i don’t have any
91- Lots of guys like Twilight.
Ok, tearing myself away from the Twilight subject…
I like Nine in the Afternoon by Anic! at the Disco right now. And I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry.
91-I got threatened by disembowelment and disemliverment and disemkidneyment and all disemspleenmnent and all sorts of disenwhateverment. And I wanted to know what all the huplah was about anyway. It’s not bad.
I suggest a Twilight thread so we can get back to music. GAPAs?
I’m currently obsessed with Snakes on a Plane (bring it) by Cobra Starship.
(96) That’s what Books and Reading is for. But I did make a new installment.
63 – Myspace is freaky that way; even Julius Caesar has his own page!
85 – I’m not much of a Twilight fan either, but I have to admit that Edward – or at least the mysterious vampire persona- is attractive.
95 – I thought I would hate “I Kissed a Girl,” but actually it’s pretty catchy.
Now that my iTunes is working again:
1) If the fish swam out of the ocean and grew legs and they started walking… [I’m currently obsessed with this song]
2) There was a gallant lofty ship, A-sailing on the sea, (Blow high! Blow low!) and so sailed we…
3) Walk across the courtyard, towards the library…
4) They called me “The Leather Apron,” they called me “Smiling Jack”…
5) Pass me a rum as I pass you by, pass me a rum old friend…
6) Raising the flag on the masthead, the sails and the ropes holding tight…
7) Ktulu, Ktulu so bad, he’s driving me mad…
8) Pain without love, pain, can’t get enough…
9) You stepped off the Greyhound in Polkatella, Idaho; I took you to the Rocky Horror Show…
10) I woke up with blood-shot eyes, struggled to memorize…
98- 8.) Pain (Three Days Grace)
Here are mine:
A) Don’t wanna be an American Idiot
B) Well baby, seasons change but people don’t
C) Turn it up I never wanna go home
D) Now I know that I can’t make you stay
E) And then you said a little more about your dreams, like that was my call
F) I never thought I’d die alone
G) Tell me all your plans and I’ll laugh back in your face
H) Do you want to come to a party
I) Last year’s wishes are this year’s apologies
J) I am an arms dealer
Some are obvious, some not so much.
1) Yesterday, a child came out to wander…
2) I’m SO excited, because I’m going to go to the high school of preforming arts…
3) Hm, hm, bar…
4) He’s a very smart prince…
Please guess these!
so here it is,
1) Jojo was a man who thought he was a lunar… (check)
2) When you, when you forget your name…
3)Flew in from Miami Beach BOAC…
4) I see trees of green…(check, What A Wonderful World- Louis Armstrong)
5) Every time I think of you…
6)It was a long and dark December… (check, Violet Hill- Coldplay)
7)Desmond has his barrow in the market place…(check, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da- The Beatles)
8 ) Ohhhhh ain’t she sweet?
9)Steve walks warily down the street,
10) They were sittin’, they were sittin’ on the strawberry swing
OKAY DOKAY, anymore guesses?
(101) That’s loner, not lunar, I believe.
95- I know, right? My bi gal pals were all the rave about it, and I thought it was just because most of them had girlfriedns and they could relate to the song, but it’s a very addicting song.
Obladi! Oblada! Life goes onnn, bra! Ladadada life goes on!
XD Favorite song right now, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.
103 – I know! I love that song too!
Too many people here like really depressingly bad bands. Gulp.
we did karaoke tonight. i had to leave before bye bye bye (the only thing boy bands are good for: karaoke :D) but i ended with kryptonite which is still pretty sweet. aaand i was there for it’s my life, which is one of the few songs i’m like “aaah must sing aaah”. leeny and i used to sing it during math class all the time
99 – Correct! Consider #8 of my list officially checked off.
A) American Idiot – Green Day
J) This Ain’t a Scene, It’s a God-[expletive]ed Arms Race – Panic! at the Disco
100 – They sound like good songs, but unfortunately I don’t know them.
105 – Guilty as charged! 99% of my music is really dark/morbid. When I’m not feeling lazy, I’ll post my current favorite bands.
Oops, nevermind about that reply to 105; I somehow only saw “Too many people here like really depressing bands” instead of the whole statement. Yikes, I’m unobservant when I’m tired!
hewitt’s brother gave him some sonata arctica. it was weird, i was in the comp room and i see a cd and i’m like “…you listen to sonata arctica‽ how did i not know this?” and he’s like “oh, my brother just gave that to me. it’s really good.”
so i have somebody to obsess with that i DIDN’T convert! SA is slowly growing in my friend group. win.
I GOT THE NEW GAELIC STORM CD TODAY. And I’m quite happy. Except that iTunes is taking an inordinate amount of time to import it. Grr. :angry:
110-Praytell, what is Gælic Storm?
111- Since she’s left for the week, I’ll answer. They’re an irish folk-rock band, and very cool. I have one of their cds and love it, want to get more.
jade…that gaelic storm is WIN. i’ve been obsessing. a little much.
just realized that i never put the amogh symphony on my ipod…so i was listening to it again…and wow, that is good stuff. (search myspace, it’s on there)
107- J) Right song, wrong band! And the word Godd*** isn’t in the title.
99/144- J- This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race by Fall Out Boy.
This shows my obvious tastes…
1) Well I was there on the day they sold the cause for the queen
2) First place in a classroom wall
3) I’m coming out of my cage and I’ve been doing just fine
4) This night, walk the dead
5) [whispered] You don’t mean it. You need a uniform, so you won’t be ignored
6) Yeah! And if your heart stops beating
7) [screaming] Before I could ever let you go, gonna beg you till I drive you mad
8) The base, the rock, the mic, the treble
9) That’s it! I’ve had it with these mother******* snakes on this mother******* plane!
10) There is nothing you can do that I have not already done to myself
98- 2) ! We sang that song for chorus! It’s fun to sing, called “High Barbaree”?
Gælic Storm seems cool! I’ll check it out!
116- 1) Disenchanted by MCR.
4) Cemetery Drive by MCR.
6) Dead! by MCR again.
9) Snakes on a Plane by Cobra Starship.
I’m an MCR fan too, as you can tell. One of my songs is MCR, if you can figure out which one.
Current favorite song: “Sometime around midnight” by Airborne Toxic Event. Waaaahhhh…..
But Crystal Castles ownn. There’s this one guy I know, he has a Crystal Castles t-shirt, and he wears it EVERY DAY. I think he only washes it when more than six people tell him he smells. I’m not that hardcore, but they’re very danceable…
Listening to Carolina Liar right now…not too bad…
Tila Tequila is ridiculous and inappropriate! But also verrrryyy catchy. I actually like her music for dancing at parties and stuff, but not normal listening.
Her music videos are all PG-13 just to let you know. So if you are under 13 don’t watch them!
Avenged Sevenfold is awesomeness!
I hate how a band becomes a fad, and everyone has T-Shirts from them and obsesses over them on MySpace but no one’s actually HEARD any songs from them. It’s happened to MCR, HIM, Bullet for My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, Katy Perry…
I am going to KILL the next person I see in a Bullet for My Valentine shirt who hasn’t heard any of their songs.
109 – Unfortunately, my friends haven’t converted; the only one around here who knows them seems to be me. But they’re coming here this fall!!!! *excited beyond description*
114/115 – Ack, I always confuse those two bands! Yet they’re not really all that similar; it must just be me.
117- Yep! This version is by Bounding Main. Your chorus does sea shanties? Awesome!
Gaelic Storm is amazing! I just heard them for the first time; definitely want to hear more!
107- You thought “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race” was by Panic! at the Disco?? *shudders*
Sorry, I’ve become a rather obsessive Fall Out Boy fan.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that Gaelic Storm is an amazing band, and anybody who hasn’t heard them before, definitely should. And while you’re at it, take a listen to Glengarry Bhoys and Black 47.
Woo, Gaelic Storm is spreading! I have the Bring Yer Wellies cd, which I love, but if anyone want’s other recommendations MF’s probably the best to turn to.
-wavers- Should I listen to them, then?
124-I was a little freaked too… even though Fall Out Boy isn’t my favorite…
As Clarissa says, “I liked Panic! At the Disco. Panic at the Disco sucks.”
I agree with her on that one. I also looked up Lucent Dossier (from the IWS,NT video) and found their costumage similar to the costumage of the music Pippin by Bob Fosse.
Re: Gaelic Storm: I’ve listened to them a couple of times, and they’re pretty good. I definatly want to hear more.
P.S. As I type this, I’m looking up Sonata Arctica.
127- Yes! They’re great!
129- YES. They are epic win.
*glances around at all the people looking up bands*
>.>
<.<
Elvenking // Modest Mouse
Seriously if you’re looking up stuff, just try them while you’re at it?
130- My mother listens to Modest Mouse.
I find them creepy.
131- How so?
Depends on the cds, maybe. I personally love them.
Their lyrics are mindblowing. Epiphanies that puch you in the face while saying “I love you” was how I described it before I think.
131 – Why? ..
And I still don’t know if I’m going to Warped Tour. It’s three days away.
None of my friends are going…but I still want to…I mean, Cobra Starship! Say Anything, too!
124 – Yeah, I probably owe the fans of both bands a major apology for confusing them since they really aren’t alike at all. I don’t know why I keep doing that, though! Weird.
More Sonata Arctica fans, yay! And Elvenking ♥.
*looking up Modest Mouse songs*
29 (Nthanda): I’ve played Ginastera — I did a Spanish piano music project in 9th grade and he was one of the main composers I focused on. I learned the Danzas Argentinas. Have you played those?
And now, I shall venture onto iTunes to play Ebeth’s game. I think my iPod is dead right now, but everything on iTunes is on my iPod anyway, so I hope it doesn’t matter.
1. Eran la cinco la mañana.
2. Ahh, an afternoon alone with my favorite book, “Broadway Musicals of the 1940s.”
3. When I find myself in times of trouble, Kokopelli happens by, speaking words of comfort: Have a pie. (Yes, really.)
4. Well it starts in the morning when you get out of bed and take a look in the Mirror of Erised.
5. Mother said, straight ahead, not to delay or be misled.
6. When the cold of winter comes, starless night will cover day.
7. Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky.
8. Lolly lolly lolly get your adverbs here.
9. Well the students at Hogwarts are sorted into houses according to whatever that shifty sorting hat says they ought to do.
10. There are few who deny, at what I do I am the best, for my talents are renowned far and wide.
I went through thirty songs to get these ten with lyrics. *Classical geek.*
133- The Warped Tour was in my city today. I missed it Oh well, there werne’t any really good bands anyway.
135 – 3) That sound suspiciously like “Imagine”.
8) You HAVE that on your iPod??? *shudders* “Lolly Lolly, Lolly, Get Your Adverbs Here”???
135- PANDA! WHAT IS THE TITLE OF NUMBER 6? I hear it in all the LotR movies but I never can catch the title, I want the song badly but I never know what to look for it as. It’s not on the cd I have >.<
136- You mean “Let it Be?”
138 – Oops, yes, I meant “Let it Be”.
138 – I googled that lyric, and it says that it’s called “In Dreams”.
140- Makes sense Thank you
Jade may be undergoing a project with her favorite Modest Mouse lyrics because they’re awesome and she feels like it and has nothing better to do with her time (rather, she does, but it’s all hideously dull).
137 (Kokonilly): It’s Robert’s “Have a Pie” from the Kokonvention. And yeah, I have all the Schoolhouse Rock songs.
138 (Jadestone): The LotR song is actually called “The Breaking of the Fellowship.” There’s a whole section about it in the extended DVD, and apparently they looked for a really long time to find the boy to sing it.
140 – ALL of the Schoolhouse Rock songs??? *shudder*
135- 3) Have a Pie!- Robert Coontz
4) Umm… Some kind of Wizard Rock?
5) I Know Things Now!- Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods
9) Ditto 4?
My List:
1) Yesterday, a child came out to wander…
2) I’m SO excited, because I’m going to go to the high school of preforming arts…
3) Hm, hm, bar…
4) He’s a very smart prince…
One of these is from “Into the Woods”!
*sings* “He’s a prince who prepares. / Knowing this time I’d run from him, / He spread pitch on the stairs…”
Yeah Robert! Someone knew my Song!
Everybody my age knows your first song, too, but one is enough.
No one likes me
I can tell
Sitting in the U-Bend
Disregarding the smell
Go take a pee
It’s all fine and well
But don’t throw that book at me
You’ll go to hell
Chorus
My life was full of misery
And you’re still mean to me
And though I’ve taken my last breath
Now you’re ruining my death
Contemplating suicide
From what Peeves said
Then I remembered
I’m already dead
Wanted peace and quiet
Look what I got instead
Nothing but a stupid book
Falling through my head
Chorus
Let’s all throw books at Myrtle
Because she is dead
And you’ll win fifty points
If it goes through her head
Let’s all throw books at Myrtle
While she’s trying to pee
But just wait till it’s your turn
And you’ll be sorry
Don’t throw that book at me, Ginny
Don’t throw that book at me, Ginny
Chorus
Don’t throw that book at me, Ginny
Don’t throw that book at me, Ginny
XD Gawd, I love wizard rock.
(147) Oops, not me. I’d recognize it if I heard it, no doubt, but not by the lyrics.
Oh, come on. “And the seasons, they go ’round and ’round, / And the painted ponies go up and down…”
(150) Ah, well, that would explain it. The Joni Mitchell receptors in my brain have never worked properly.
148 (MissSwann): “Don’t Throw That Book” — The Moaning Myrtles!
Wizard Rock is so bad, but it’s so funny! After school when it’s warm, I run around downtown with two of my friends who also listen to Wizard Rock, and we sing songs to see how many strange looks we can get. It’s really fun!
147-I’ll bet you fifty bucks both my parents don’t. Which is depressing because I do.
148-Wizard Rock is ♥.
1) There’s a little creepy house in a little creepy place
2) Waiting, as I’m wanting to
3) She’s going out to forget they were together
4) We can go to the tropics, sipping Pena Coladas
5) Tonight is the right night, everybody’s all right
6) I’ve gotta regret right now
7) Yeah, Uh-huh. Sorry sorry sorry sorry.
8) Debby just hit the wall ((everyone should know this))
9) Now I know, that I can’t make you stay
10) Somebody once told me the world was gonna row me ((this too))
THIS IS FUN.
153 – I don’t know No. 8. Sue me.
154-*sues*
I just looked up Elvenking. Not bad, I’m listening to Midnight Circus.
1) Alas, my love, you do me wrong
2) In good King Arthur’s day
3) Willie Taylor and his youthful lover
4) If there’s a way to say I’m sorry
5) If you did, if you did, even if you did
6) Down by the sea on a bright summer’s morning
GUESS!
Again, I post these:
Isn’t it strange?
Don’t think me unkind
Yesterday “Yesterday” by the Beatles
Here comes the sun “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles
Here come old flattop he come grooving up slowly “Come Together” by the Beatles
Picture yourself in boat on a river “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” by the Beatles
Spam
I recall the time they found those fossilized mosquitoes
First to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect
Don’t let me down
Half of those are blatantly obvious/are the name of the song itself. Oh well.
153 – Is it 1985 by Bowling For Soup?
My current list:
1) If the fish swam out of the ocean and grew legs and they started walking…
2) There was a gallant lofty ship, A-sailing on the sea, (Blow high! Blow low!) and so sailed we…
3) Walk across the courtyard, towards the library…
4) They called me “The Leather Apron,†they called me “Smiling Jackâ€â€¦
5) Pass me a rum as I pass you by, pass me a rum old friend…
6) Raising the flag on the masthead, the sails and the ropes holding tight…
7) Ktulu, Ktulu so bad, he’s driving me mad…
8 ) Pain without love, pain, can’t get enough…
9) You stepped off the Greyhound in Polkatella, Idaho; I took you to the Rocky Horror Show…
10) I woke up with blood-shot eyes, struggled to memorize…
This list really isn’t fair, though, because except for #10, #3, and maybe #1, the songs are all by pretty obscure groups. If I have some spare time later I might make a new list with better-known bands.
Amendment to my previous post: #s 4 and 6 are by fairly well-known groups if you’re into European metal. Otherwise, no.
158- What’s #2?
Okay, I just found this on a Twilight fansite, and I couldn’t resist posting it. (new favorite song!!! XD)
I want a Porschey
A turbo yellow Porschey
Drive drive, Porschey Porschey
I love Porschey, Porschey
Alice has one too!
I want a Porschey
A turbo yellow Porschey
Alice will race me
Edward will chase me
Porschey Porscheys are cool!
When it’s time to go to school
I will look oh-so cool
Edward will come and se me there
And then he’ll compliment my hair!
I love my Porschey
My turbo yellow Porschey
Go, go Porschey Porschey
Speed up Porschey, Porschey
Look how fast it goes
I love my Porschey
My turbo yellow Porschey
Drive drive, Porschey Porschey
I love Porschey, Porschey
It’s so cool!
XD Yayayayayay!
161- It has my name.
I’m getting way too bored… I have no idea why though.
153- 8- 1985, Bowling for Soup, 10- Allstar, Smashmouth.
last time,
1) Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner… (check, Get Back- The Beatles)
2) When you, when you forget your name…
3)Flew in from Miami Beach BOAC… (hint, it’s by my favorite band)
4) I see trees of green…(check, What A Wonderful World- Louis Armstrong)
5) Every time I think of you… (I don’t think you guys will ever get this, so I will post one more line) I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue…
6)It was a long and dark December… (check, Violet Hill- Coldplay)
7)Desmond has his barrow in the market place…(check, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da- The Beatles)
8 ) Ohhhhh ain’t she sweet? (hint same band as above)
9) Steve walks warily down the street, (hint, though not part of lyrics at all: We will, we will rock you.
10) They were sittin’, they were sittin’ on the strawberry swing (Hint, Jade, are you sure you don’t want anymore Coldplay? One more won’t hurt…)
You and I in a little magic shop
Buy some Chocolate Frogs with the money we’ve got
Set them free but they don’t last long
They’re good for one jump, then they’re done
At the base of my spine I get a tingling sense
Something evil is about to commence
Under cover of a darkened sky
99 Death Eaters go by
99 Death Eaters under cover of a darkened sky
The Ministry’s on red alert
And something here from somewhere else
The Aurors all spring to life
Moody opens up his eye
And focusing it on the sky
As 99 Death Eaters go by
99 Decision Street
99 ministers meet
To worry worry, super scurry
Call Dementors in a hurry
This is what we’ve waited for
This is it boys, this is war
Cornelius Fudge is on the line
As 99 Death Eaters go by
99 knights of the air
Ride their magic Firebolts
Everyone’s a super-hero
Everyone’s a Ludo Bagman
The goal is to identify
Clarify and classify
Scramble in the darkened sky
As 99 Death Eaters go by
99 Death Eaters go byyyyyyyy
99 dreams I have had
The Dark Mark’s floating in the air
It’s all over and I’m standing pretty
In what used to be the city
If I could find something tragic
Just to prove there once was magic
And here is a Chocolate Frog
I think of you and let it go
wrock rox!
162- There’s a character in Twilight named Alice. she’s my favorite (she’s really cool!)
158- Sam Sparrow-Black and Gold
157- Don’t let me down- Don’t Let Me Down- The Beatles
137- It’s sounds more like “Let it Be”, actually, to me, much more.
158-Thank you. I was getting worried.
166 – Correct and correct.
163- I suppose one more can’t be too bad for me XD Strayberry Swing, of course.
164- That’s actually a pretty good alternative version of 99 Red Balloons, the rhymes and sylables and even some lines match up almost perfectly. Except the last verse, drifts away a bit there…
And it’s amusing thnking the words over the singer’s voice.
I was listening to KT Tunstall a bit. Saw an awsome tap routine to Black Horse and a Cherry Tree at a friend’s dance recital.
She’s not bad at all, kind of remi oh wow there goes the box. I don’t remember where I started deleting so I’ll finish with — a cross between Jewel and Ani DiFrance.
GrrrrIE.
164 (ZVX): 99 Death Eaters, Draco and the Malfoys. I’m a The Remus Lupins fan myself, though Draco and the Malfoys are pretty good, too.
170- I like the Ministry of Magic, but they’re so overlooked. And the Hermione Crookshanks Expirience; their music is so pretty.
Harry Potter music? I had no idea… I play piano and my favorite composers are Mozart and Stephen Foster. Does anyone play chello? I don’t play it ,but a lot of CRICKET readers do.
86–NOOOOO I missed the Twilight discussion? Waaaah!
Even tho it’s over, I have to say (really quickly) that Edward is da best but I do agree, Jasper is pretty awesome. And my favorite bumper sticker (which I now want to buy) said: “My other ride is Edward Cullen.”
OK. Back to music.
99–D) Famous Last Words by MCR
116) 1) Disenchanted by MCR
3) Mr. Brightside by the Killers
6) Dead! by MCR (pretty much my favorite song ever)
I’m getting bumped off the computer. I’ll finish catching up later.
116 – Heh..
1) Disenchanted – MCR
3) Mr. Brightside – The Killers
4) Cemetery Drive – MCR
5) You’ll Rebel To Anything (As Long As It’s Not Challenging) – MSI
6) Dead! – MCR
7) The Used – Paralyzed
8) Shut Me Up – MSI
9) Bring It (Snakes On a Plane) – Cobra Starship
10) Never Wanted To Dance – MSI
Well anyway. Today I’m going to Warped Tour. A lot of good bands aren’t coming here but the amazing COBRA STARSHIP is, Say Anything too. But doors open at eleven, I’ll be there until two. Anyway. I have no idea when what bands are playing. So. Apparently at the first show Cobra played at 2:50, but at a more recent one they played at noon. So I have no idea if I can see them or not. I hope so I hope so I hope so.
Oh, and Mindless Self Indulgence is coming here at the end of August. Still a little freaking out about that. Might, might be able to go. Maybe. Don’t know yet.
173- I’ll respond, REALLY quickly… Jasper is my fav, Edward rocks, Esme is cool, that bumper sticker is the bomb, and Tanya appears in Book 4!!!!!! *gasps*
And then Jacob imprints on Tanya and everyone’s happy! (not)
160 – High Barbaree by Bounding Main.
166 – Yay, somebody else knows that song! I’m currently obsessed with it.
Just got back
Saw little bits of a bunch of bands
Saw Cobra at 2:00
I will explain more later
Hugely content but somewhat exhausted
It was twenty years ago today
Sergeant Pepper taught the band to play,
They’ve been going in and out of style,
But they’re guaranteed to raise the smile,
So may I introduce to you,
The act you’ve known for all these years,
Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
We’re Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
We hope you will enjoy the show
Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sit back and let the evening go
Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely
Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely
Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
It’s wonderful to be here,
It’s certainly a thrill
You’re such a lovely audience,
We’d like to take you home with us, we’d love to take you home.
I don’t really want to stop the show,
But I thought you might like to know,
That the singer’s going to sing a song
And he wants you all to sing along,
So let me introduce to you
The one and only Billy Shears
And Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Yay Beatles!!!!!!!!!
Ummm… Tom Lehrer is Awesome!

YOU SAW COBRA? *dies*
179 – Yesss!
Lucky Cobra seers! Cobra was in my town but I missed them, ack.
I like I’ll Make a Man out of You from Mulan!!!!!
Let’s get down to business
To defeat the Huns
Did they send me daughters
When I asked for sons?
You’re the saddest bunch
I ever met
But you can bet
Before we’re through
Mister, I’ll make a man
out of you
Tranquil as a forest
But on fire within
Once you find your center
you are sure to win
You’re a spineless, pale
pathetic lot
And you haven’t got a clue
Somehow I’ll make a man
out of you
I’m never gonna catch
my breath
Say good-bye to those
who knew me
Boy, was I a fool in school
for cutting gym
This guy’s got ’em
scared to death
Hope he doesn’t see
right through me
Now I really wish that I
knew how to swim
(Be a man)
We must be swift as
the coursing river
(Be a man)
With all the force
of a great typhoon
(Be a man)
With all the strength
of a raging fire
Mysterious as the
dark side of the moon
Time is racing toward us
till the Huns arrive
Heed my every order
and you might survive
You’re unsuited for
the rage of war
So pack up, go home
you’re through
How could I make a man
out of you?
(Be a man)
We must be swift as
the coursing river
(Be a man)
With all the force
of a great typhoon
(Be a man)
With all the strength
of a raging fire
Mysterious as the
dark side of the moon
(Be a man)
We must be swift as
the Coursing river
(Be a man)
With all the force
of a great typhoon
(Be a man)
With all the stength
of a raging fire
Mysterious as the
dark side of the moon
Yayayayayayay!
Don’t Let the Truth get in the Way (of a Good Story)
On a steamer bound for Baltimore
I said that’s no fun, i’ve been there before
So I jumped ship in Singapore
——–With a cook from Mexico
Got a bowl of shark-fin soup,
Ducked into a bar for a couple a scoops
Played some texas-stud with a circus troop
——–and they cleaned me out of dough
At dawn they all went back to bed,
I went to Borneo instead,
Had a hair-of-the dog for my shrunken head,
——–With the sultan of Brunei
Had a small bit of a seizure
On the way to Micronesia
Got a bad case of amnesia
——–And forgot to say goodbye
Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story
No harm no foul no crime
Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story
It’ll get ‘em every time.
Stopped in Tajikistan on the way to Iran,
Took a break in Jamaica to work on my tan,
Swam from Cayo Fragoso to Carriacou
I climbed Machu Pichu in Darkest Peru
Had a pint with the pope and played pool with the queen
She’s good with a stick if you know what I mean
I once had a job riding bulls in Montana
I taught Jimi Hendrix the star-spangled banner,
I’ve been to Morocco, Malawi, Macau
I know how to fly, but I won’t tell you how
Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story
No harm no foul no crime
Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story
It’ll get ‘em every time.
Bought an ice cold coca-cola
From a Congolese High-Rollah
Got deported from Angola
——–To a castle on the Rhine.
Ask anyone that knew me,
The Emir of Bahrain sued me,
I was in a Blockbuster Movie
——–And I didn’t make a dime
Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story
No harm no foul no crime
Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story
It’ll get ‘em every time
~~~~~~~~
hee, hee. I like this one from the new CD.
188–when I went on a choir trip my freshman year, we had a fancy bus with DVD players, and my friend brought that movie. When we came to that song, the entire bus sang it full blast! It was awesome.
This is turning into the Song Lyrics thread.
Yeah, sorry about that. I was to lazy to go look up the song lyrics, or even check to see if there was one…oops. Sorry all, I’ll be better next time. I promise.
The music video to Helena just gets me. Every single time.
186 – Ah, I felt like I should know it.
I will cheat and look up the NWTD remixes on iTunes..
Yesyesyes Warped Tour!
Anyway. My first Warped Tour. We got there say…fifteen minutes after it opened and there were already a lot of bands playing by the time we got our tickets (long line). It wasn’t very crowded at first. I saw a little bit of Relient K (they played The Best Thing, which is the one song by them I know) and then later I watched the end of Gym Class Heroes’ set which was very good, actually, and I did a lot of wandering around. Hmm.. When we got there I got a Cobra “Fangs Up!†t-shirt and buttons at their booth thingy, and later on I watched the beginning of Reel Big Fish’s set and then we went to Cobra’s stage so we could be closer…to the stage. Except that’s right next to the OTHER stage, so we could here Reel Big Fish while Cobra was still setting up. So we were entertained And then I saw Cobra Starship (at 2:00)…and it was awesome…each band only played thirty minutes, so I wish it could have been longer, but it was still pretty awesome. We left after them (so I missed The Academy Is…, Katy Perry, and Say Anything, which was the LAST band playing (at eight) so that stunk; AND Cobra was one of the few bands signing, at 3:30, so I missed that too) and I was very exhausted. But I felt better afterwards.
Oh, and it was hot outside, but it wasn’t TOO hot. I wasn’t begging for water the entire time (although I did have a bottle and then some).
But all in all it was incredibly awesome. I have pictures that my mom and I took, and I have 15 seconds of Gym Class Heroes and 8 seconds of Cobra Starship video that my digital camera took. It’s actually pretty good quality; I’m surprised.
But yeah. Awesomeness.
It’s amazing the memories that music can conjure. There are certain songs that will be forever attached to events in my brain, and even just a line of them can make me cry sometimes.
195~ Same here. When I listen to music I often see certain events and pictures in my head or can almost smell things that I for some reason associate with that song. It’s rather strange, but sometimes I only remember things if I hear the music, and it goes both ways, I think of something and a song pops into my head.
195, 196 – Yes, same for me. Memories…
190- Yayyy! I would’ve loooved to been there…
196- Same here! Just like the smell of lipstick and blush reminds me of my mom.
194-reel big fish on the next stage over and you didn’t go‽ unbelievable. i’ve never heard any cobra, but they must be pretty freaking amazing to miss that
(if you haven’t noticed, i’m a reel big fish fan. :D)
Who here likes John Lehrer?
200th post?
199- I like fishing.
200- I’ve heard of him, never really got around to really digging into his music…
199 – ah, they were playing while Cobra was setting up, so in order to be closer to the stage we didn’t move toward Reel Big Fish. But we could hear their whole set, so
194-Oh my gosh, I was there too!!! I lovelovelove Cobra Starship!!! but I didn’t get to stay to see them because of swim practice…
Did you know that there’s a band called Muse? My favorite song of theirs is ‘Starlight’. It’s really great, you should listen sometime.
The music video for Teenagers by MCR is my favorite music video ever.
Is anyone in the mood for some poppy Japanese anime theme goodness? Go to Youtube and search ‘Lucky Star intro’. It’s my favorite song evah!
204-If I really had to decide what my favorite MCR video is, I think I’d be Helena, but I love all of them pretty much the same.
Except for I Don’t Love You because the girl’s eyes gave me nightmares. But it’s still a really sad video.
195-There are like, tons of songs that trigger my waterworks. And most songs have a memory or person attatched to them.
We were at Ruby Tuesdays once, and they played Complicated over the intercom thing, and it brought up al these different memories. Me and most of my rfiends were all sniffling and trying to hold it together by the end. Ah, the good days of Avril Lavigne.
I’m so insanely jelous ofKari. Grrr.
195- I know what you mean.
204- My favorite video is I’m Not Okay. I love that video. But my favorite video of all time is First Date by Blink-182.
My all time favorite videos:
I Write Sins, Not Tragedies-Panic! At the Disco
Helena-My Chemical Romance
I’m Not Okay-My Chemical Romance
Famous Last Words-My Chemical Romance
Always-blink-182
The City is at War-Cobra Starship
(Bring It) Snakes on a Plane-Cobra Starship feat. All Those People Who I’m Not Going To Name
Sorry for the [possible] double post.
I’m trying to look into Atreyu, lots of people said they were good and their most popular song “Falling Down” is great. What do you guys think about them?
I just listened to “MIss Murder” for the first time in AGES.
I saw the musical ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ and I’ve had this song on my mind ever since-
The Origin of Love.
When the earth was still flat,
And the clouds made of fire,
And mountains stretched up to the sky,
Sometimes higher,
Folks roamed the earth
Like big rolling kegs.
They had two sets of arms.
They had two sets of legs.
They had two faces peering
Out of one giant head
So they could watch all around them
As they talked; while they read.
And they never knew nothing of love.
It was before the origin of love.
The origin of love
And there were three sexes then,
One that looked like two men
Glued up back to back,
Called the children of the sun.
And similar in shape and girth
Were the children of the earth.
They looked like two girls
Rolled up in one.
And the children of the moon
Were like a fork shoved on a spoon.
They were part sun, part earth
Part daughter, part son.
The origin of love
Now the gods grew quite scared
Of our strength and defiance
And Thor said,
“I’m gonna kill them all
With my hammer,
Like I killed the giants.”
And Zeus said, “No,
You better let me
Use my lightening, like scissors,
Like I cut the legs off the whales
And dinosaurs into lizards.”
Then he grabbed up some bolts
And he let out a laugh,
Said, “I’ll split them right down the middle.
Gonna cut them right up in half.”
And then storm clouds gathered above
Into great balls of fire
And then fire shot down
From the sky in bolts
Like shining blades
Of a knife.
And it ripped
Right through the flesh
Of the children of the sun
And the moon
And the earth.
And some Indian god
Sewed the wound up into a hole,
Pulled it round to our belly
To remind us of the price we pay.
And Osiris and the gods of the Nile
Gathered up a big storm
To blow a hurricane,
To scatter us away,
In a flood of wind and rain,
And a sea of tidal waves,
To wash us all away,
And if we don’t behave
They’ll cut us down again
And we’ll be hopping round on one foot
And looking through one eye.
Last time I saw you
We had just split in two.
You were looking at me.
I was looking at you.
You had a way so familiar,
But I could not recognize,
Cause you had blood on your face;
I had blood in my eyes.
But I could swear by your expression
That the pain down in your soul
Was the same as the one down in mine.
That’s the pain,
Cuts a straight line
Down through the heart;
We called it love.
So we wrapped our arms around each other,
Trying to shove ourselves back together.
We were making love,
Making love.
It was a cold dark evening,
Such a long time ago,
When by the mighty hand of Jove,
It was the sad story
How we became
Lonely two-legged creatures,
It’s the story of
The origin of love.
That’s the origin of love.
60- 6 is Falling Slowly from Once! Um… the games are probably all over by now.
um. what do you guys think about Nightwish? I have some friends who really like them.
209- Yeah, I really love that song. And the rest of the soundtrack.
A friend of mine has the tattoo of the two faces making up one face; it’s lovely and means something as well.
The first half of the last verse in your post is one of my favourite quotes…
Currently listening to a new band, Dawn of Tears… their entire cd Descent is availible for free download on the band’s webpage, if anyone’s interested.
204–I LOVE that song! But I think I like the Black Parade music vid better.
205–I know! Her eyes were so freaky! But it was cool makeup effects.
209–wow, those are some awesome lyrics. I’ll have to look that up.
Favorite music video: Here it Goes Again by OK Go. I mean come on, how long must it have taken to choreograph that thing?
Question: what do the lyrics for “Viva la Vida” refer to? I thought Jesus, but then I looked it up and someone said Napoleon, of all things. *is confused*
211- They haven’t put the soundtrack on cd, have they?
As usual, I am having trouble finding stuff.
212- look it up on youtube. It’s part of a musical, so the song goes along with this really cute animation video.
I love hedwig’s hair, when it’s blond and the tips and underneath are died black.
203 – Yay!
I love Muse, but I barely know anything by them. But they’re awesome.
Favorite music video..? Oh gosh. Wayway too hard.
But I like the Walking Contradiction video by Green Day, and…I guess I Don’t Love You.
Ehh I don’t know. There’s some pretty awesome videos out there.
Waiting for the Never Wanted To Dance video…
205- Oh my god, you’re right, they are scary. *is terrified*
I’m Not Okay is so cool! I love that music video.
My giutar teacher gave me the chords to Misery Business (Paramore) and I’m supposed to learn it by Friday. And I’m at camp this week, so I only get 1 day of practice. *is nervous*
196 – I know what you mean. I’ll be going about my business, when suddenly a song will pop into my head that I haven’t thought about in ages, but that perfectly fits my situation.
208- My friend is a big Atreyu fan, but I don’t like them as much. Falling Down is a good song, though.
214- Walking Contradiction’s vdeo is great! I fogot all about it…
Has any one here tried pandora radio?
Does any one know of music that’s like bowling for soup?
210-hey i just saw that not too long ago
218-yes it is kind of my life
219-no, thank god. but i can give you some excellent music that is absolutely unlike bowling for soup.
i saw them at the ohio state fair a few years ago. they were ok, i guess, but nothing at all special
220 I haven’t seen it but I’d like to and I own the song.
218 – Yesss it is both annoying and awesome.
219 – When I first heard “Love Me Dead” by Ludo it reminded me of BFS. Ludo are awesome. “Lake Pontchartrain”…
I think… Into the Woods is awesome!
218-Yeah.
I decided to look up AFI, and they’re not bad either. It’s to bad everyone’s sick and tired of Miss Murder though, it was a good song before it was overplayed.
17- I just got an album by them from a used music store, but I haven’t gotten a chance to listen to it yet…
60- 5) The Answer Lies Within- Dream Theater
188- Yay!
Has anybody heard “Feel Good Inc.” by Gorillaz? It sometimes gets annoying with the screaming, but I especially love it when the song gets to the lines “Windmill, Windmill for the land/Turn forever hand in hand/Take it all in on your stride/It is sinking, falling down/Love forever love is free/Let’s turn forever you and me/Windmill, windmill for the land/Is everybody in?”
It sounds like another song I’ve heard at that part. Or is it the same song? I am confused.
But I’m not a huge fan of the rapping. Just that part.I don’t know why, it kinda reminds me of The Cardigans – My Favourite Game. Weird huh?
Feel Good Inc. was a good song, but it was overplayed.
I’ve heard just the chorus of Feel Good Inc.; I didn’t really like it. But maybe I should hear more of it? And now I’m more tolerant than I was, so xD
I just heard MSI’s cover of Bring the Pain.
Hollllllly crap. That is what I call amazing. …wow..
I liked the sound of Feel Good Inc., and the effects, but it was a little too weird and unacoustic for my taste.
I downloaded a bunch of Elvis and found out that it is the perfect tempo for running. If you see a girl with pink earbuds running in your neighborhood, that’s probably me listening to Jailhouse Rock
218- Yesss, it rocks seriously.
Okay, GAPAs, I know we’re not allowed to post direct links to sites, but this is just too awesome to pass up.
[Ë™uıɯpÉ– ˙ɥƃnoɹɥʇ ʇÇן oʇ pÇuıןɔuı Çɹ,ÇÊ Êžuıן ÉŸo ʇɹos Çɥʇ ʇou ‘ʎɹɹos ¡dıus]
Okay, click on RushRushRush and listen to the sample playing. Yeah, that’s my bffl Tess singing. I met her at camp this week and she can sing so well it’s kind of scary.
229- *looks out window* AHHH! GIRL WITH PINK EARBUDS RUNNING!!!!!!!! Jk, it’s probably not you.
Yeah, the chorus for Feel Good Inc. is kinda annoying. But, the part I liked (That windmill line) is awesome. The rapping and laughter is pretty annoying too.
231–Really random–the laughing reminds me of a guy cracking up and then dying suddenly. Maybe like the Sicilian in The Princess Bride.
232-I liked that movie.
I’m going to get an iPod shuffle!
234 – Yay! I like my Shuffle.
234- Cool! I have a bluish one. I wanted a green one. They are really mini 8O.
234–Coolio. I got a Sansa e280, I’m too poor to buy a real iPod.
I’m saving desperately for an iPod, I lost my Sansa.
238–I got a brand new 8G Sansa on Amazon for like $120. You might want to check there, they might have iPods as well.
we’re doing a stevie wonder show in band.
it has made me realize that i desperately need some stevie wonder. he is freaking brilliant.
*sings* uptight…everything is all right…
239- That was my original plan, I had enough money for one on Amazon/eBay three months ago; but my parents don’t ‘trust’ eBay and amazon for ipod purchase. They say that it’s prbably going to be stolen or something, then they printed out a sheet filled with comlicated graphs and statistics to prove their point.
You’re a part time lover and a full time friend
The monkey on you’re back is the latest trend
I don’t see anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
I kiss you on the brain in the shadow of a train
I kiss you all starry eyed, my body’s swinging from side to side
I don’t see anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
Here is the church and here is the steeple
We sure are cute for two ugly people
I don’t see anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
The pebbles forgive me, the trees forgive me
So why can’t, you forgive me?
I don’t see anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
I will find my nitch in your car
With my mp3 dvd rumple-packed guitar
I don’t see anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu du
Up up down down left right left right b a start
Just because we use cheats doesn’t mean we’re not smart
I don’t see anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
You are always trying to keep it real
I’m in love with how you feel
I don’t see anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
We both have shiny happy fits of rage
You want more fans, i want more stage
I don’t see anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
Don quixote was a steel driving man
My name is adam i’m your biggest fan
I don’t see anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
Squinched up your face and did a dance
You shook a little turd out of the bottom of your pants
I don’t see anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu du
But you
My 1G Sansa is full, and I don’t want to delete anything, so I’m saving up for an iPod or bigger Sansa.
I’d rather an iPod though, because then I can plug it into a lot more things, and plus I like them a lot more.
241-yay! i like that song. it’s cute
*is still in need of stevie wonder*
our show is pretty sweet for only three days of practice though
242–I’m not sure if you can do this on a 1G, but some of the Sansas have slots to plug in a memory card. Maybe that would be easier.
244-I don’t think the 1Gs do that. Mine dosn’t.
I looked mp3 players on Amazon, and I found two really cool ones from Cody and Creative. I think I might get those instead.
But I like the iPod nano better…
But it’s really expensive…
*undecided*
243- It is the cutest song evah!!!!! (other than When Did you Fall by Chris Rice, of course.)
flogging molly tomorrow!
although (i’ve already decided, obviously. mostly based on price) i’m curious, what would you guys choose? there are two concerts tomorrow, flogging molly and gnarls barkley. assuming they cost the same?
247–Flogging Molly wins hands down.
SOLD OUT!
i’m SO pissed. why didn’t i think of that?
UGHHHH
on the (slightly) plus side, there are only 4 people i know who actually got tickets, so i won’t be bored and jealous by myself…
249- Oh. That’ s dissapointing. *sigh*
Actually, this is the first song on MTV I’ve liked in ages, which is why I posted it.
Katy Perry
This was never the way I planned
Not my intention
I got so brave, drink in hand
Lost my discretion
It’s not what, I’m used to
Just wanna try you on
I’m curious for you
Caught my attention
I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don’t mean I’m in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it
No, I don’t even know your name
It doesn’t matter
You’re my experimental game
Just human nature
It’s not what, good girls do
Not how they should behave
My head gets so confused
Hard to obey
I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don’t mean I’m in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it
Us girls we are so magical
Soft skin, red lips, so kissable
Hard to resist so touchable
Too good to deny it
Ain’t no big deal, it’s innocent
I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don’t mean I’m in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it
Music:
I like basically alternative rock. some reggea-hip-hop-rap stuff, like Michael Franti and Spearhead and Damian Marley.
Has anyone heard of Enter the Haggis? Apparently it’s a good group…
Who’s to say
What’s impossible
Well they forgot
This world keeps spinning
And with each new day
I can feel a change in everything
And as the surface breaks reflections fade
But in some ways they remain the same
And as my mind begins to spread its wings
There’s no stopping curiosity
I want to turn the whole thing upside down
I’ll find the things they say just can’t be found
I’ll share this love I find with everyone
We’ll sing and dance to Mother Nature’s songs
I don’t want this feeling to go away
Who’s to say
I can’t do everything
Well I can try
And as I roll along I begin to find
Things aren’t always just what they seem
I want to turn the whole thing upside down
I’ll find the things they say just can’t be found
I’ll share this love I find with everyone
We’ll sing and dance to Mother Nature’s songs
This world keeps spinning and there’s no time to waste
Well it all keeps spinning spinning round and round and
Upside down
Who’s to say what’s impossible and can’t be found
I don’t want this feeling to go away
Please don’t go away
Please don’t go away
Please don’t go away
Is this how it’s supposed to be
Is this how it’s supposed to be
252- Enter the Haggis? -bursts out laughing-
252 – …Enter the Haggis? *cracks up*
Enter the hagis? Well, it’s got my attention…
245~ I like my iPod. I’ve tried my friend’s mp3 players of different brands, and none of them have been as easy to use, logical convenient and generally as useful as my iPod. I don’t think I’m too biased because if what I’m used to, but Katie’s mp3 player now (I can’t remember the rand) is made to look almost like an iPod, with the general buttons and whatnot being the same and a few extras like a radio and a recorder, but it is just plain hard to use. It’s bulkier than my old-style nano, yet has the same capacity. It takes a while to turn on and off, while an iPod takes less than a second to turn on, and goes off nearly as quickly. (That is one thing that does take a bit of getting used to, holding down the play button to turn it off, but after awhile it’s second nature.)
Anyway, this is probably way too much information and ranting, but I’d recommend an iPod over the other brands any day. Them’s my tuppence.
There is a song lyrics thread, peoples.
250-My girlfriend told me about I Kissed A Girl almost exactly four weeks before it became mainstream. How come everything we obsess over suddenly gets popular? Grrr.
I like Hot N’ Cold better now, because IKAG was overplayed. Darn Top 40, they wreck EVERY SINGLE GOOD SONG.
252–Weird, I thought that was a Jack Johnson song.
258- It is. Someone posted I Kissed a Girl earlier.
257- Same here, except it was my guy friend who told me about I Kissed a Girl, not my girlfriend…
i heard about i kissed a girl from my gay guy friend
my mom is officially in love with great big sea now. but we’re still not going to see them, $30 is too much. (/yes, i’m poor/going on an $800 disney trip)
but
i am going to see the fratellis in september
and i am definitely getting my ticket ahead of time
we just went to see the columbus symphony, which might be dying there needs to be a junichi plushie. like, now.
i also realized i don’t know anybody currently in the osu marching band, which is a bit odd. but whatevs
I heard about “I Kissed a Girl” from MB. No joke. *is completely out of the loop with pop culture*
I heard about it from a girl on my soccer team.
I’m going tosee the Flaming Lips on the eighth.
I have never actually understood why we have a seperate thread for song lyrics. It’s music, so isn’t it thread inflation?
263-aaaah, jealous! i want that hamster ball
252-I have friends obsessed w/ ETH, and I have a few songs of theirs, myself. I went to one of their concerts, once, (I guess) but it was an open-air thing, and I was far away. Their Minstrel Boy song makes me want to crawl into a hole and die, becuase it’s way too fast-paced. Some of the other ones are fun, though… One Last Drink, Gasoline, Twirling Towards Freedom, Lancaster Gate…
I still like Kila. And They Might Be Giants is still an obsession (John Henry!).
I just got a CD of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, because I think I’m developing a Romeo and Juliet obession, too. fun.
CORNY JOKE ALERT!!!!!
What is Kokopelli’s favorite genre?
Muse-ic, or course!!!
I heard about AKAG here, and then about a week later (maybe less) it got popular.
It was weird…
Anyway, for the MSI show I think I can go…except no one seems open to taking me. And I’m nowhere near having a driver’s liscense, and neither are my friends.
Grrrrrrrrrrr.
There has to be some way.
Anyone else heard of Solas? I am interested in hearing some of their stuff…..random.
Solas! I love The Wind that Shakes the Barley, and Pastures of Plenty.
268- I believe so. Hm. I’ll have to look it up later.
269- Those do sound very familiar.
Yes, I do have Solas, thanks to my uncle and his mile-long music library which somehow has come into our possession in its entirety.
Oh, yes. On my long road trip, the kids are invited to bring their own CDs to listen to in the vans. Which means, of course, that I will have to listen to intolerable amounts of rap, rock, pop, etc. HOWEVER, it also means that I can subject my fellow passengers to Joanna Newsom, the Pentangle, Mimi and Richard Farina…
I think this is going to be fun.
i’m missing the black crowes
which is prolly good because i don’t have money but whatevs
also got some stevie wonder
and have rediscovered my love for daft punk
and iron maiden makes good wake-up music
has anybody ever heard of the band vampire weekend? I only rally like their music for the musci and not the lyrics, but I’ll post some anyway. Half the time you can’t even understand what they’re saying, mind you.
A-Punk
Johanna drove slowly into the city
The Hudson River all filled with snow
She spied the ring on His Honor’s finger
Oh-oh-oh
A thousand years in one piece of silver
She took it from his lilywhite hand
Showed no fear – she’d seen the thing
In the Young Men’s Wing at Sloan-Kettering
Look outside at the raincoats coming, say OH
His Honor drove southward seeking exotica
Down to the Pueblo huts of New Mexico
Cut his teeth on turquoise harmonicas
Oh-oh-oh
I saw Johanna down in the subway
She took an apartment in Washington Heights
Half of the ring lies here with me
But the other half’s at the bottom of the sea
Like I said, the actual music is way better than the lyrics.
273- I might just have to look them up.
*Youtubes*
Yeah, they’re pretty good. *invests in cds*
I looked up Enter the Haggis, and their music is really cool.
273-ohh, vampire weekend
hearts to them, but yes most of the time i have no idea what they’re saying
definitely good music though
I love I’m Not Okay and Disenchanted by MCR. But Cancer makes me cry.
Back to the streets where we began
Feeling as good as lovers can, you know
Well, now we’re feeling so good
Pickin’ up things we shouldn’t read
It looks like the end of history as we know
It’s just the end of the world
Back to the street where we began
Feeling as good as love, you could, you can
Into a place, where thoughts can bloom
Into a room where it’s nine in the afternoon
And we know that it could be
And we know that it should
And you know that you feel it too
‘Cause it’s nine in the afternoon
Your eyes are the size of the moon
You could ’cause you can so you do
We’re feeling so good
just the way that we do
When it’s nine in the afternoon
Your eyes are the size of the moon
You could ’cause you can so you do
We’re feeling so good
Back to the street
Down to our feet
Losing the feeling of feeling unique
Do you know what I mean?
Back to the place, hey
Where we used to say
Man it feels good to feel this way
Now I know what I mean
Back to the street, back to the place,
Back to the room where it all began
Back to the street, back to the place,
Back to the room where it all began
‘Cause it’s nine in the afternoon
Your eyes are the size of the moon
You could ’cause you can so you do
We’re feeling so good
Just the way that we do
When it’s nine in the afternoon
276- are you thinking of “Ok?” or “I’m not OK”?
oh…i don’t have any lyrics right now.
277 – That song bothers me. I dunno why.
.
silver pink ponies flying over me
you may feel strange, well, you are an angel
stuck in tight pants stuck at a high school dance
stuck doing people things not knowing you have wings.
you are my serenade you are my lemonade
you are my soul throw it all out the window
you are my training wheel you are my chamomile
you are my friend come again some other day.
you are my pantomime and you are my moonshine
you are my sunshine you are my shooting star
you are my elbow you are my buttercup
spoonful of puppycat bellyful of kittypup
pretty pretty baby tin toy maybe
X marks the spot and it’s not what they expected
sing that song again the one that makes me cry when
she walks into the room and you don’t know what to do
every step of every day i love you
every single one of you
whenever you get in your own way i
love you, you love me too
no pain anymore nothing to feel sorry for
heaven is right here heaven is everywhere
look at the trees dancing in the breeze
feel the raindrops on your knees
silver pink ponies flying over me
flying over me they’re flying over you too
silver pink ponies flying over me
flying over me their flying over you too
silver pink ponies flying over me
you may feel strange, well, you are an angel
stuck in tight pants stuck at a high school dance
stuck doing people things not knowing you have wings
you are an angel
you are an angel
you are an angel
you are an angel
—Kimya Dawson, Eleventeen.
I also love her song Henry Kelly, but I don’t want to overload the page. Anyway everyone listen to her!
279- Really??? I don;t see how that’s possible, personally.
280- Kimya Dawson pretty much rocks.
I’m listening to “Take Ecstasy with me” , the !!! version
Not that I condone that sort of thing. It’s just a good song.
Also good are Ockham’s Razor. Sort of Flogging Molly-like.
204- Japanese themes are awesome, especially the perky ones. Those never fail to lift my mood.
210 – I love Nightwish! I know a lot of people who stopped listening when they got a new singer, but I’m still a big fan.
218 – I use it every now and then, but ever since I got an iPod I haven’t listened to much radio of any kind.
224 – I used to like “Miss Murder”, but then I played it on the day that I later learned a family friend committed suicide. Ever since then I haven’t been able to enjoy it because whenever I hear it, I think of that. Plus, isn’t it a song about suicide? If so, that was a seriously freaky coincidence; I’m kind of afraid to play it again.
226 – I used to like it, but then I listened to it too much and now I’m tired of it.
250 – Ah, that song is so fun to sing with random people.
Currently listening to “United Lonely People” by Plastica. It’s my latest song obsession.
For those of you looking for an iPod alternative, the new Sony Walkman mp3 player (not sure if that’s the actual player name, but that is the brand) has worked well for me. I still prefer my iPod in most situations, mostly because it holds a lot more and it’s easier to use iTunes than Windows Media, but the walkman is great for exercising or traveling because it’s small and sturdy. It also holds a decent amount of music, but the thing I like best about it is the battery life. I have to charge my iPod every day, but the walkman is supposed to get 30 hours per charge and so far it’s lived up to that claim.
283- My friend’s iPod is FILLED with Japanese pop. It’s really funny. She’s obsessed with foreign music; German, Italian, Japanese, and French being her favorites, Swedish sometimes.
277- I LOVE PANIC AT THE DISCO! *squeals*
285- *squeals back* ME TOO!!!!! Panic rocks!!!! Especially that song. I couldn’t survive without Panic, MCR, Paramore, The Beatles, and Jack Johnson. It’s what I live off of.
Panic is great. I also love ‘That Green Gentleman’, ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’, and ‘Time To Dance’. And the entire rest of both albums. Paramore rocks, too. I have both their albums. WOOOOOT PARAMORE!!!!
I like Panic a lot, but now…I might like Motion City Soundtrack more. Which is odd, because I discovered them BECAUSE they were touring with PATD. But I’m not sure.
I have discovered Innerpartysystem!
Look up Don’t Stop if you get the chance.
Oh, and Whistle For the Choir by The Fratellis is so prettyful @_@
284 – Same here, I like a lot of international stuff. I don’t know the languages, though, so a lot of times when I like a song I have no idea what it’s really about. :/
187- WOOOOT PARAMORE! WOOOOOT PANIC!!!! My Riot! CD broke; it was skipping like crazy the other day. WOOOOT MCR! That Green Gentleman is the bomb, and We’re So Starving is cool. I can recite There’s a reason these tables are numbered baby, you just haven’t figured it out yet and The only difference between suicide and martyrdom is press coverage by heart!
290- LUVS TO ALL SONGS MENTIONED AND MORE! If you like Panic, you should check out Fall Out Boy. They’re same-category stock. I luvs FOB. Patrick is a teddy bear with sideburns. * rants like a crazed teen fan*
287-No. This is false. There is a difference between the band Panic! At the Disco and Panic at the Disco. Okay, same people maybe, but their music changed a lot. From stuff you can relate to, really great lyrics and music to more popish. Panic (minus the !) did not to “I Write Sins, Not Tragedies” and Panic! (plus the !) is less similar to Fall Out Boy. IMNSHO, Panic! was a heck of a lot better.
Okay, sorry, I get a bit freaked when people talk about Panic and Panic! as if they’re the same, especially since Panic! is my girlfriend’s favorite band and we both dislike just plain Panic.
ANyway.
The reason the songs thread is there is because this is a thread to talk ABOUT music. Lyrics are supposed to be posted on the LYRICS thread. It kinda cloggs up this one when you post lyrics.
Bands are a lot better when they’re not played on the radio. MCR is the only band I can think of that hasn’t gone all popish when it was overplayed, like Panic (NOT PANIC!).
Paramore, Flyleaf, Panic!, FOB, Cobra… they should have stayed underground.
It’s true. I liked Panic! better than Panic. Panic is too Indie. But since, in reality, they are the same people, I like them both anyway.
I’m currently having an obseesion with a couple of new songs I got on iTunes. ‘Starlight’ by Muse is my favorite song in the world now. I also like Modest Mouse. ‘Missed The Boat’, ‘Float On’, and ‘Dashboard are all really great Modest Mouse songs.
Hmm, this CD is rather dreadful.
It’s supposed to be sea chanties, but somehow a full chorus singing “Big Bowow” with harmonies just doesn’t work. It’s very pretty, but it’s not right. These are WORK songs, not pretty melodies to be harmonized. Poop.
293- Those are all really good songs! Not sure I know Missed The Boat though…
Muse and Modest Mouse are amazing.
WAIT MODEST MOUSE WHAT *dizzy*
Heehee, I am actually listening to ‘Missed the Boat’ right now.
295- It’s a great song, possibely one of my favourites.
But yeah, that obsession, still not entirely worn out. WOOO!
295- They so are. You should listen to ‘Missed The Boat’, it’s a really good song.
anyone heard of My Morning Jacket?
I’m good at piano.
I really like these songs:
Dumbledore’s Army
Fireworks (Harry Potter)
A is for Action
Jerk it out
play it loud
time hollow
296/297- Actually, turns out I do have the album with that song on it… listened to the song again. yeah, it’s really good!
Panic! was more like fall out boy and is therefore better?
does…not…compute…
anyway
288-the fratellis are sweet! i might be going to see them (meaning i am if i remember to get my freaking ticket this time…). i liked their first album a lot better though.
301-No, Panic is more popish (therfore like FOB) and Panic! wasn’t, and is therefore better.
Haha, listen to Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite. It makes you feel like you’re, like, high or something.
298- yeah they’re good!
301- TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!!!!!!! Hehehehehe. Seriously though, do let’s.
Jarlath Henderson is good. Go look him up. Strange name, amazing piper from Northern Ireland.
~~~~~~~
You know, the other day when I was goofing around and playing a few tunes I realized that I was doing these cool little triplets in “Harvest Home” and they came out clear, crisp and separate, in short, how they’re supposed to sound.
I was quite amazed at myself, and promptly messed up the next three measures. But I did realize how far I’ve come in my playing in a few years.
[/brag]

Ahh, forgive the repeat, my computer was being evil last night..
301 – Ohh, awesome!
302 – I do not understand your definition of “pop” music.
Got into Evanescence again! The Open Door is so dark… Really good though. Strangely, my favorite songs are all the same as they were two years ago. (Lithium is my very favorite from TOD.)
And I put the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack on my iPod. I find myself to have practically memorized it, having seen the movie so many times.. Huh..
Phish might be getting back together!!!
and the people who have covered lithium make for a very strange musical range…it’s interesting
and phish might be getting back together!
get excited
oh andy got help! it will be on my ipod soon, making the total of beatles-related movies three. (atu, hard day’s night, help)
293 – Did Panic! recently remove the !, or were they !-less first and then Panic! ?
294 – Which CD is that? I was looking for a good sea shanties CD awhile ago, but all the ones I found on Amazon got terrible reviews.
298 – I have! They’re from my hometown. I’m not that familiar with their music, but most people here are obsessed with them.
308 – I didn’t enjoy Hard Day’s Night as much as I thought I would, but Help! is great.
309-i want john’s bed
i liked hard day’s night a lot though, it’s my kind of humor (ie british)
309- Check them out, I’m off to buy Evil Urges!
309 – I think when they first started they were !-less, but one day Ryan wrote it with an ! and then everybody started writing it that way and it was put on their album so they ended up being known as Panic! At the Disco. And they said now they just didn’t want it on their new album cover and they don’t care how anyone writes it.
I watched the Three Days Grace DVD. It was pretty awesome. Hooray, Adam sounds good singing here!
308- You should also get Magical Mystery Tour. It’s weird, but awesomely great. John’s bed is so cool. I remember something about the director or something like that saying, “And there was John, sleeping in his little pit in the floor” dang, I can’t remember it, but anyway, it was real funny.
307-Nightmare soundtrack!!! I have yet to see the movie (ugh I really want to!) but the soundtrack is amazing.
309-They removed the ! when their second album came out.
Ahh! New Pandora! I liked the old one. *pout*
291- Love Fallout Boy too! DanceDance is the coolest song!
I like both Panic! and Panic. Panic is very cool; when the day met the night is such a cool song, but Panic! is way cool as well.
Beavo, if you say a WORD about Paramore, I will skin you alive. Hayley Williams is my idol, my rock role model. She and Sarra Manning’s book Guitar Girl were the reason I started guitar lessons and played literally until my fingers bled. That is DEVOTION.
309~ The one I hated was by the US Navy band, and it’s called “Songs of Sailor and Sea.” Don’t get it unless you want to listen shanties that have been ruined and turned into pretty choral music. Not that there’s anything wrong with pretty choral music, I like it as well as anyone else, but sea shanties are work songs, some of them have nice melodies, it’s true, but they aren’t exactly meant to be pretty.
I’d recommend the Smithsonian Folkways recording called “Classic Maritime Music”, it’s quite good and has all sorts of interpretations of chanties-some prettified, some not, and a nice range of material.
Also, the HMS Falcon’s Press Gang has a CD, “A Night out on the Shore”, which I’d recommend as well, if it’s available on Amazon.
I think Jimmy Buffet is mental. “Cheeseburgers in Paradise”?! “Why Don’t We get Drunk”?! What kinda guy sings about getting drunk?! SERIOUSLY!
317 – That doesn’t mean he’s crazy, it means he writes about weird, seemingly random things and perhaps that he might be a bit eccentric. And I like the song “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” it makes me laugh.
(317) Singers do sing songs about characters other than themselves, and the characters aren’t always attractive ones. Many songs written from the point of view of rogues, low-lifes, even murderers are great fun to sing. (I’m sure Midnight Fiddler knows a few.)
I’ve been obsessed with The Kinks almost as long as I’ve been obsessed with The Beatles. But right now, I just seem to like Waterloo Sunset so much, I’ve heard it before, I liked it too. But all of a sudden, I just wanted to keep hearing it and hearing it! It’s an awesome song. I like it when Damon Albarn and Ray Davies sing it.
317- What about “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds”, or “I am The Walrus”? They’re prolly something like that.And than there’s also “Saddam On the Phone” XD
317- Well, there’s a lot of songs that are that way…
319- “The Sheep-Stealer,” for example. ‘Course, I’ve never sung that one, but it’s very good and macabre.
Actual Title of a Country Song- “You’re the Reason Our Kids are Ugly”.
I have a strange obsession with balkan music. I don’t even know why. My parents enjoy balkan folkdancing and I kind of was brought up with it even though I thought it was uncool. Now, I listen to it almost as much as my gangsta rap.
Favorite songs on my ipod right now
Ether-Nas
Kutka Avel e Sej Bari- Amaro Suno
Hip Hop- Joell Ortiz
I Mean Business- Joell Ortiz
I’m A Lucky One- Tru Rez Crew
Tregnal Mi Yane Sandanski/Aber Mi Dojde- Zdravetz
Shirat Hasticker- Hadag Nachash
Chai Miyom Leyom- Subliminal v’ha Shadow
Sweetest Girl- Wyclef
Hiney Ma Tov- Yehuda Glantz
MiMaamakim- Idan Raichel
Mic Check- Kano
317-what kind of guy sings about getting drunk? well, the ones that aren’t singing about getting high or having sex…
really though, jimmy buffett just happens to be a little more blunt. which makes sense, he’s supposed to be a sailor-type guy.
i’m guessing you haven’t heard love song by him?
i went to a concert last night. it was a party.
there was a jonas brothers concert the same night, and devin said he actually saw them drive by on their way back from it. he’s evidently not a very good sniper, because they’re still alive.
oh (sorry double post) almost forgot, we had our first football game last friday. we sounded ok, looked decent…dan ended up walking into five different boxes during the box drills because he wasn’t here for most of band camp
it was a stevie wonder show, the songs were stuck in our heads for hours
afterwards, andy had his car at the school but left his keys at his house (no idea how that happened) and dan’s car was at andy’s, and there was no way we could all fit into courtney’s car, so we got our band director to give us a ride back to andy’s in his truck and then dan drove us back to andy’s car so we could all go to cup o joe. yes it was complicated. but j let us sit in the back of his pickup which was sweet. actually when i say “let us” i mean more “he didn’t yell at us for doing it”. andy actually sat in the front like a good boy, but the three seats in the back were empty
324- Seriously! It’s hard to find a hit song from the pop music archive that isn’t about sex.
326- Sara Bareilles. And KT Tunstall. My favorite pop singers.
319~ *innocent face* I’m amazed at you!
Well, yes, I do……. I have been singing “Blow the Man Down” “A-Roving” “The Handsome Cabin Boy” and……………..others since long before I knew what they really meant………..not in public, though (much), don’t worry!
I still enjoy the last verse of “Darby Ram”, and “A-roving” is still one of my top favorites. I don’t usually sing those in the company of small children or people who don’t know me very well.
And as far as singing about getting drunk, trust me, there are MANY, MANY songs like that…..”Fathom the Bowl” (another one that I raised my young voice in long before I understood it), and many, many, many others that I won’t even bother thinking up the names of. Yes, they’re out there.
327-sara bareilles will absolutely not write you a love song.
316 – Thanks! *goes to find*
Songs about macabre things are strangely catchy. Especially cannibal and zombie songs for some reason.
327-I love both of them too!!!!!
I’m listening to “Defying Gravety” on our 10 year old CD player.
Ooooo, it’s at my favorite part!!!!! Now it’s sad. No, wait, this is my favorite part. Kristen Chenozworth (probably spelled wrong, Glinda) and Idina Menzel (Elphaba) Sing such great harmony. Now it’s over. I remeber when I saw the play. That song was so insparational, especially because I love to act.
(I would have posted this on the Broadway Musicals thread, but it’s dead.)
331) Wicked is a great musical……..but it’s so sad though. In some parts.
*sobs*
331~ Hmm, going through Chicago there were all these billboard advertising that….what’s it about?
333-It’s just about the BEST THING EVER!
Well, actually, it’s a musical about the Wicked Witch of the West (from the Wizard of Oz, obviously) and how she became wicked. Basically the background history of the Witch. It’s based on the book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. I went and saw it on Broadway in April. I’m listening to the soundtrack again right now.
334~ Ah. I’ll have to look it up sometime. the posters looked intriguing.
277- PATD/P!ATD are almost tolerable when they’re being angsty but Nine In The Afternoon is just too cheerful. It bores me.
265- I think John Henry is my favorite album right now… *also obsessed*
307- Lithium. You can’t mean a cover of the Nirvana song. That’s just weird. (although so was the cover by The Polyphonic Spree…)
325- We don’t even know our whole show yet… (one week until the next performance, two until the first competition!)
I want to see Wicked. Sometime in 2009 for sure. I love the book.
I am going to a Sonata Arctica concert Sunday and I am excited!
Marching band has begun- I am alive again.
I am learning to play guitar. It is fun.
I keep trying to write songs but they don’t end up MuseBlog-appropriate…
331- Whoa. You have almost the exact same taste in music as I do. Do you like Spamalot? And the Beatles? And the Monkees?
336-why. does everybody. get to go see. sonata arctica. except me?
*sob*
and andy still needs to give me that dr dog cd
and 337-i like all three, if it matters. i realize my name is not syllabub
my computer is completely out of space. and i still don’t have the new one yet. *sobsob*
338- Do you like Sara Bareilles and KT Tunstall?
339-i love black horse and the cherry tree. love song is ok. i haven’t heard anything else by either of them. the only modern music i really listen to is alternative and metal.
338- Join me in shunning the ones that got to go? /Hunting them down and killing them and stealing anything they bought while there? XD
I like KT Tunstall, not my favoirtie ‘band’ ever (only have one cd wait… 2 actually, one’s live and has repeats though) but she’s not pop-ish or annoying and can actually sing so she’s high up on my respected list. I saw this awesome tap routine to Black Horse and a Cherry Tree…
Of the songs I have I really like Little Favours, BHaaCT of course, Suddenly I See, Funnyman… actually I like her more than I remembered, I’ve been typing each song that comes on, prety much XD So cd wise Drastic Fantastic is pretty good.
341- I like Drastic Fantastic too. I’ve memorized Paper Aeroplane. Although she’s cussed once or twice, but only he**. And most of it’s just the place, not the slang. Sara Bareilles cussed ONCE, bull***t.
None of you would ever guess what I do sometimes when I’m mad. Oh, it’s pretty weird. Really, really weird.
343- I don’t like the sound of that…
343- Blow up mail boxes? Not that I do that when I’m mad….
345- I don’t exactly blow up stuff, well, maybe I do blow up people’s ears.
I actually play Clair de Lune as loud as I can on the piano, and than turn up “The Sound of Music” in the basement as loud as it will go. And after that I blow up stuff. Maybe I can record it for you guys sometime so you can hear how loud it actually it is. You have no idea, Edelweiss and Clair de Lune blasting at the same time is actually pretty relaxing, and blowing up food in the microwave is extremely fun to go with it Though I don’t recommend it, I got electrified slightly one time. Even though, that’s the only time I can get the song completely correct, and the only time I blow up food in the micro-wave on purpose.
346- Wow. Anyone care to hear exactly what I do?
338/341- Please don’t shun/kill me…
346- Wow. Sounds fun… I would love to hear that!
So yeah, SA was amazing. *grins*
348-*shuns/kills*
how do you shun somebody and kill them at the same time though? it doesn’t seem possible…
oh well *hums*
