In case you missed it, Nancy Kangas (inventor of Ble and NOTscape, among many other Musish delights) left this on the poetry thread:
December 30th
when the library’s still open
when the mail still comes
when it’s not really a holiday
but feels like one.December 30th
when there’s still no school
when you have a few free days left
when the creeping crush of undone work
swells up slow but surely.
First post! YAAY!
Nice poem, Nak.
Let’s see, in Ble, I would be RRF. Assuming I’m not Rarof, but that’s too long. Rarf? A Ble expert is needed.
Wait. Should this be on Coy Woodnesse? Oh well.
Actually, I have more like a free week because we got off only TWO DAYS before Christmas. I’m still md about that. Christmas on Sunday should be abolished. Or something.
I’m new to this… but I have a feeling it’s probably illegal to like, reply to one’s own posting. Um, but, I thought of a better (??)second stanza, and Robert thought of a title. So, from the top:
Pentultimatum
December 30th
when the library’s still open
when the mail still comes
when it’s not really a holiday
but feels like one.
December 30th
when there’s a few more days of freedom
when there’s a chunk of schoolwork undone
when you might think yourself quite foolish
but you’re not the only one.
mutt thinks we should have an entire thread on NOTscape. XXD
ebeth thinks somebody should make it a real website…
yaaaaaaay cool poem!
liiiibrary still open that good cuz i just (FINALLY) got the historian!!! now i have to read it by friday…
hello to nancy kangas, you rock yes you do but you need a name. Like pb&j, or the million and a half names for the GAPAs…I shall think. *thinkthinkthink*
is ble something i missed or just something i don’t remember? when was that anyway? and what was it?
NOTscape was so cool! Best first page ever! “Enter name of stuffed animal to get forcast of mother’s mood”. Hehe! I laughed so hard reading that one…
ble is a made-up language which appeared on “the first page” of muse in some issue or another. it has two rules, which i probably don’t remember correctly:
1. take a few syllables from a phrase and squish them all together
2. anytime you feel like breaking rule 1 go right ahead.
i would look up which mag it was in and who wrote it for you, but my parents are asleep, and i don’t want to sneak upstairs, sift through my collection of muses (which is now up to 33) and sneak back down again. wait, i can look it up on the fan page…
“FIRST PAGE: Ble! Newluj—No Fulst, by Nancy Kangas”
-the fan page
ah, the wonders of the internet.
yes nancy kangas, you do rock, and you do need a name, because am far too lazy to type that out.
you can write any thing you want, as long as its nice, or at least polite. but it is nice to relate to the thread, otherwise everyone gets irritated at you.
nice poetry.(see? i relate to this thread.)
or “our stincky cheese is on sale, come on, we’re dying here.” XXD
Very well done. Hurrah, Ms. Kangas.
Actually, I’ve been thinking about using Microworlds, which is basically computer programming / web design for kids, to make a Notscape type thing, with links and cool stuff like that.
do it then!
yes yes plz do!
You guys are so great. It would be too fun to see Notscape come alive.
Is somebody going to write a December 31st poem??
How do I chage my name??
And is it okay to use this many question marks???
I am supposed to be writing TWO articles for Muse RIGHT NOW. But of course I have to keep taking breaks for snacks, to open all my junk mail (and read it all very carefully), and sharpen all my pencils (to a really realllly sharp point). And read MuseBlog.
Oh wait. This is a poetry thread.
I’ll start a poem. Take it away..
I predict by December 31, 2006
now i feel stupid. i looked that ble thing up, and i forgot to tell you which issue it was in. well it was in the lotr one. you were probably so excited about having a whole mag on lotr that you skipped the first page and went straight to the articles, breaking magazine reading rule number whatever.
Nancy,
As an adult, you have to keep logging in with your full name for I.D. purposes. But other MuseBloggers are free to give you nicknames.
Em (#6) — if it’s shortness you’re after, how about something like NanKan? Or even NaKa?
–Robert
really? what are you writing about? to change your name just delete the name thats written there and type a new one. i have no idea how you would go about chaging your name. but we were just saying that you needed a nickname like pb&j or GAPA so we don’t have to type out “nancy kangas’ everytime we refer to you. we’re lazy that way.
the december 31st poem should be about saying goodbye to the poor december thread. or it can be about how secretly irritated everyone is that i am posting every 5 min.
you could be “Nancy Kangas (aka something else)” i think
That’s true.
How about “Poet”? That’s easy to type, and she is one.
how about “wonderfully awesome muse writer”
okay, im leaving now before the museblog explodes from me posting too much.
KangaRoo???
hmm…
KangaPoet???
Kangaroos that write poetry!!!
Nancing Poet Kanga?
arrrgh…
Cool Person Named Nancy Kangas Who Writes Poetry And Other Awesome Stuff For Muse, The Best Mag Ever
or CPNNKWWPAOASFMTBME
that’s even longer than Nancy Kangas!!!!!
oyness.
The Lotr one? My brother lost that.
I was gonna get it on the back issues but i didn’t have enough $ at the time, having just bought something i don’t remember that probably broke ages ago. Maybe i should order that…
how about PEK? Poet Extraordinare (did i splel it rite???? it lookes rong…) Kangas?
PEK! PEK? PEK…hm…i dunno…
Like we sometimes call Mr. Coontz GAPA and at least one person calls Paul Baker PB+J. (Ebeth, I think.) Anyway, I’ll work on the Notscape thing when I get home from Florida.
December 31st
(A Bad Poem, by Phoebe)
Yet another dreary month of the year, when nothing seems to happen.
You con’t outside without being sludged
By the obnoxious neighbourhood kids.
Yeah, that was baaaaaaaaad. I have an addiction to really big words… iwas gonns use, “juvenile deliquents” instead of kids.
The “ble” thing was in November/December 2003
That would be “blenober 3” wouldn’t it?
Wonderfully Awesome Musewriter… WAM. Hmm. That might have possibilities, too.
Naka. Nak. NanKan. NancKang. NancyKanga. Nankaroo. Kangaroo. Ok, most of those are really reaching.
I like WAM and Naka…
WAM! so when are those articles you’re procratinating on going to appear?
NAKAWAM!
Add an H, and make it WHAM. You know, like making impact wham.
how about NakaWAM and just WAM for short?
then whenever u come on we can shout “WAM!!!!”
wheeee
everybody likez??
WHAM!!!! what would that be though? Wonderfully H Musewriter….
All in favor of WAM say aye!
AYE!!!!!
Aye!
WHAM!
Aye!
Let’s say OOFA!
Aye!
why is the nationstates thread dead? i was going to ask if i could join land of the muse. (if i ever care to make a nation)
join the land of muse!!!!!!!!!! you can. of course, i forgot the password, but pheonix can tell you.
and i know this comment is late, but the poem on the 30th left out the bets part, my birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well i don’t actually have a nation yet, but if i get one i want to join land of the muse.
WAM! where are you? come back and talk too us!
password’s kokopelli.
WAM must come back and hear her cool Musish name!! Or the world will come to an end….maybe. AAAAAAAH!! FLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
was WAM the one who wrote the first page in sep. 2005? because its je ne sais pas quoi not je ne sait quoi.
actually it was sept 2004.
luv the poem…
i likei like wham with h in there to make it sound good for no other reason than that
anyway aren’t we supposed to be random?
how about… hmmm.. PNKWIC&ATTU? which stands for…
Poet Nancy Kangas Who Is Cool & Actually Talks To Us.
or is that too long? if it is how about.. KangaNan?
“A few days?” Not to me, sadly. 2 days. I had to go back on January 2nd. Yesterday my school was one of 3 in the entire state of Ohio that were in session.
I had to go to school today. *wrinkles nose*
Nak (which is Nancy Kangas in Ble)(I looked it up), can I use this in my poetry anthology I have to do for school? I’d give you credit, of course, then analyze the thing to death. Which version should I use? (Assuming I can use it. Prease?)
actually, notscape is a campign against netscape. google it.
reply to early posts (I tend to come around, try to read the entire thing and end up just doing this…) You’ll get results if you Google Notscape, but they have nothing to do with our Notscape, just something about how web pages are no longer Netscape friendly or something like that….
