Robert writes:
Rosanne is in town visiting her parents, so naturally I jumped at the chance to see them all yesterday. We ate rugelach and strange chocolate laced with hot peppers and Pop Rocks, and then Rosanne and I posed for a photos with a little ceramic Kokopelli trivet.

At first, we had trouble sitting still.

Our faces were the last things to settle down.

Finally the picture fell into place.
Attention, you who read comments but skip the main page: this rare conjunction is worth a look!
*sheepish grin* Thanks!
Yay! I like Kokon photos. Fern and I should post some!
Excellent Kokon!
One day, I will get back across the inconvenient stretch of water and visit EVERYONE.
Aww. This is so adorable.
It WAS an excellent Kokon. Much as I adore the internet Robert it’s great to see him in person from time to time.
Awww! Wish I could have been there. It’s been way too long since I’ve seen Rosanne live! Long enough since I’ve seen Robert, but at least that’s measured in months, not years.
I was hoping for a tri-gapa photo! Imagine what would happen if all four ever were in the same location at the same time!
Some day, somewhere, that has to happen. It would be lovely if it included the mysterious and elusive Queen of Muses, too.
She’s working at Washington University. Shadowfire could stop by and say hi.
Wait wait tell me more
“The Queen of Muses” is Paul’s nickname for Diana Lutz, who edited Muse before Elizabeth Preston (during the “Classic Muse” era when Paul wrote for the magazine). Now she’s a science writer in your university’s news office.
I’m sure she’d be delighted to meet a Muser. Editors don’t get much recognition.
Aw, this is great! I hope you had lots of fun!
We always do.
Looks like you had a wonderful time! The photos are great.
My wife took them. She didn’t tell us she was shooting candid pictures while we were trying to pose.
I didn’t know you were married. I suppose it’s not uncommon for people your age, but I’m not used to thinking of you as part of any unit other than “the GAPAs.”
(Then again, I remember you referring to “our cats,” which wouldn’t make sense unless you lived with at least one other person with whom to share the cats.)
That happens to me all the time with people that I know from a particular context, unless I’ve actually met/heard about spouse or children — sometimes when I have. Default status is solo, according to my brain, even though that describes only a minority of adults I know.
Sneaky! My favorite is the second one.
She did a great job. My favorite is the middle one. Priceless expression on Rosanne’s face.
Agreed!
That house looks like it smells nice.
It did!
I’ll tell my parents that. I bet they haven’t heard that before!
