Whoa! Great image! You continue to outdo yourself, Lady B!

I’ve decided to switch my name from “The Guy Your Parents Warned You About” to the name I am better known by, “TGYPWYA”. Though it may confuse neophytes, I think neophyte-confusion is pretty typical.

Anyway, it just makes life easier,

3, 4- Yes, any ‘phyties would probably just think that’s your normal name. Like IBCF, or POSOC. But they’ll learn. I recently learned what IBCF stood for, myself. :)

Lady B. is teh pwnage. Is there a bigger version of this oh-so-magnificent picture, though? I can’t quite make out the ghost way in the back. :D

OH! I just noticed that the base image is the one I snagged off google. Hehe.

7- Ooh, spiffeh! I spot four ghostly Muses now. :D
I would actually rather like to meet a ghostly muse, it seems like it would be an enlightening experience.

It seems that I inspire people totally and only by accident- If I try out my newest witty remark, or tell someone something which is (in my humble opinion) pretty awesome, I will usually get rather humdrum responses. I will just throw something in a conversation as an afterthought though, and people will tell me I’m brilliant.

This is the recurring [and quite inconvenient] theme in my life.

Hm. Well, that’s how inventions get made, I suppose.

anyways, I notice form the Recent Comments bar that you appear to be hitting up every thread with pointless posts. Since you are a neophyte, I will let you off with a friendly pointer–pointless posts (such as the one above) are discouraged on MuseBlog–especially on themed threads, such as the Hare and the Hedgepig.

Admittedly, this thread isn’t themed, and most anything goes, but your post is still over the top, the sort to be discouraged.

I forgot to tell you guys about the Weirdness that was Global Studies today.
As I walk in the door, I am suddenly facing with a six-and-a-half-foot tall teacher, who asks me immediately if I was born in Oregon. Caught off guard and unpleasantly unaware of how far up I have to look, it takes me a moment to react. “Yes–no–wait, yes. Portland.” Not content with the confusion he has induced, he then asks me if my parents were born in Oregon. I of course cannot think where my parents are born at the moment and I tell him so. He says, “Go sit over there by Drew.” Still confused, I do so, and watch as he quizzes every person to enter the room the same way until the bell rings. He then proceeds to thoroughly abuse the non-Oregonian side of the room, taking points off their final quiz grades, saying that he doesn’t trust them not to cheat. He mentions of course how disappointed he is in the class as a whole for talking and stuff, but blames that side of the room primarily. Everyone is outraged and talking about segregation and stuff. I fail to comprehend the entire situation, of course, and for the first ten or fifteen minutes of class I sit perfectly straight and silent. Then he actually asks us (the people in the back of the room, see enclosed map of desks if confused) whether or not we want our quizzes to be graded, and says he’ll just give the entirety of the Oregonian side As because he’s sure they did wonderfully. As if that wasn’t confusing enough (and I was pretty much baffled), he gave us cookies.
And then we had to take notes on the world wars and he continued to be horrible to that one side of the class, and then at the end he said he was just joking, and we’d all get extra-credit, and I left feeling only slightly more enlightened than before. I think it had something to do with allies and an “us vs. them mentality” or maybe it was about concentration camps. I’m quite honestly not sure. It was just weird.

But if we read All Quiet on the Western Front we get extra credit! :)

42–that’s weird….but at least he wasn’t serious about taking away points from the non-Oregonians! Pie 0

  49. Luna the Lovely (11.5 Potterpoints!) says:

45–According to my biology prof, “A Christmas Carol” was written in response to Thomas Malthus’s adaptation of the first law of evolution: More offspring are produced than can survive. Malthus proposed that there were too many people, and that it was perfectly acceptable to work the lower class to death, as if they were fit they would survive, if they weren’t they’d die. So Dickens wrote “A Christmas Carol” in response, where Scrooge is the “ultimate industrialist” (Malthus), and Tiny Tim is a member of the surplus race; so, Dickens was attacking evolution and the idea of surplus population…..

Yeah, that is the sort of wacky tangent my bio prof goes off on quite regularly–it can be quite entertaining…..such as during the animal reproduction lecture. He would go on and on about how women, being born with all the egg cells they will ever have, can (in fact must) be choosy, whereas men produce sperm throughout their entire life, as they waste it so much. And he starts going on about if there is a male frog in breeding season, and you drag a rock past, the male will–[you guys get the idea.] It is so freakin’ funny! He kept commenting a out how men are wasteful–not like you think! (which of course makes us think that…..)

50~ That’s what I mean by the “new” nanos, the square ones…have they come out with another already?! Huh, that’s fun though, it would have been hilarious if we had the same color.
Cool about the hair, not coolabout not being allowed to have it short for only one scene……but at least you get to be in plays, I’d love to do that, but it seems the only drama groups around here will only put on evangelical Christian plays, and quite frankly I disagree with their way of looking at things. But that’s a different matter………
I usually wait for spiring to get my hair cut, because then my head is warmer in the winter and cooler for the warm weather.

Today was my one of my gbrandma’s birthdays, the one who lives in WI, so we called her up and sang happy birthday over the phone–we do that for all our family members and adoptees. :P So that was fun.
Then the other grandma called…..never an entirely pleasant experience. However, since it is tradition I’ll be going over to her house on Halloween and walk around the neighborhood with the kids. Hee hee, I still love T-o-Ting! I’m still trying to think of what to wear…….*obsesses* I’ve thought of perhaps a store shelf (with a few wooden shelves hung over my shoulders and items glued to them) or a laundry basket (cut a hole in one, strap it over my shoulders like suspenders and put clothes in it). I dunno. We may be able to find Mom’s old bat costume from years ago, and I could wear that. I have to just go and see what I can find.
I guess if I can’t come up with anything I can fall back onto my trusty period dress and do a pirate again, that was pretty fun, but I need to get a real sword or something to add just the right touch….the pistol tucked into my sash is good, but just not the same, y’know? I’m such a freak.

My Halloween costume is somewhat weird…… I was going to go as my character from BA, but I couldn’t find suitable clothes, so I was going to be a werewolf instead, but I couldn’t find clothes for that either……. So I’m going to be a scarecrow. :?
The costume is pretty good, actually. I dug out an old corduroy coat from my parents’ closet, and after a little fiddling with sticks and stuff I found a noodle (you know, one of those floaty foam things) to stick down the sleeves so my arms don’t fall off from me holding them straight out for an hour, and I have a straw hat and some boots that I found somewhere, and since I live on a farm it’s not a problem to get hay to stuff down various sleeves and things……
The only problem is that my arms tend to get stuck in doorways. That could be a bit of a problem…… I’ll have to think of some way to bend them or something……

    Good morning.

Yesterday the Theater design kids were supposed to come build the stage but it turns out the teacher rescheduled the work party for Thursday, which is the light design work party, so yesterday we all stayed late to work on the stage. At first H made ZP and W and me all work on cue sheets, but then we started going on tangents and falling asleep and laughing at everything and then ZP had to leave, so we got to do other stuff. Like crawl around in a narrow storage area stuffed full of platforms and stairs and pieces of wood. Oh joy. Then pizza arrived, which revived us, slightly, and we had to break into the janitor’s closet to find soap and we nearly washed our hands with some weird pink fluid before H noticed that it told us to wear safety goggles and we realized it wasn’t hand soap.
Then I got to work a power tool. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

And today I have to stay late again to do hang ‘n’ focus, if the stage’s up, and it had better be.

And today there’s a Salmon Bowl meeting and I have to miss the Ashland meeting. :( Why did Mr. C and HG have to schedule it at the same time? I’m going to the Salmon Bowl meeting though because there’s always that chance that I won’t get in so I have to demonstrate my extreme dedication.

Although it was perspiciens’ sweatshirt, so it was a good thing I took it off… *muses* In any case, I made one awesome pumpkin that had a wide open mouth (which I gutted it through; they had trouble getting a candle in without a top) and really long surprised-eyes, and then just had fun hacking at another one. It turned out pretty well – I shaved an entire side down to around a centimeter thick just by hitting it and stabbed it… Oh, around several BILLION times, but all this is just to point out the fact that pumpkin carving is good exercise and GREAT therapy.

82–lol, sounds like fun! I actually did my pumpkin in an “intricate” pattern. They had pumpkin carving booklets with patterns, so I did one with a cat sitting on the moon when it is a sliver, with a few stars surrounding it. It actually looks pretty cool. Sadly, we are not allowed candles in our dorms, but my mom did send me a fake battery operated candle. Only problem is, I have another pumpkin that I bought several weeks ago (nice big one, about 20 pounds) that still needs to be carved, and then i will have two pumpkins, one “candle.” oh welll…..

So, on to a different subject. Good news: I got a 96 on my geography midterm on Monday (so I have an 89 on the first test, 96 on the second, and all that is left is the final…..I think I will get an A in the class).

Bad news: I have a calculus test tonight. and I am terrified. I am trying to console myself by reminding myself that I was terrified of the last one, and got a 114, but it’s not working. I’m dreadfully afraid I will do horrible, as I still ahve some trouble with the latest concept, optimization. I mean I understand how the problems work, it’s just half the time I never seem to get the right answer…..I don’t know. I’m just worried about it. Calc is a 5 credit course, and it would be really good for my GPA if I got an A. B would be marginally ok, C would not be good at all, it would bring my GPA way down (around a 3.3 if I get an A in al my other classes), and I have to maintain a cumulative 3.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) throughout undergrad if I don’t want to lose my guaranteed spot in vet school in four years……oh, I just want this bloody test over. Once it’s done, I will only have one more test and the final……I dunno. I mean, I’m getting an A so far, 98 on the first test, 114 on the second, and I’ve gotten 10/10 on all but one quiz (on which I got a 7/10), but–I dunno, I probably worry too much……

Oh, I hate that, too! a kid in my class does that constantly. On a lighter note, I need help deciding between two costumes:
a typical ghost, in which I would give out pamphlets on why to be a ghost on Halloween, filled with statistics invented with no proof, or logic, and some plain and simply incorrect statements.
Or a superhero whom I invented, called “candyman” with a mechanical arm that is covered in candy wrappers, a cape (despite warning from the movies…), a belt made of candy and duct tape, a lifesaver candy ammo sash, and a crazy hat covered in spikes (think rainbow viking helmet with a dozen more horns…)

so, re:obama rally. I went to it, but…..

OF course, I decided that I would go out the back door of the building in which my calculus test was, as it was more in the direction of the rally, instead of exiting through the front. So I walk a block and half or so, and hit the midsection of a line 3 or 4 people wide. So, I start following it back, it goes all the way down a couple blocks to another rode, down it another couple blocks, than 4 or 5 blocks down that road, until it turns onto the rode that my calc test was on….so, if I’d gone out the front, I would’ve been at the end of the line, instead of looping half way around campus…..

It was kinda lame, though. I stood in line for two hours for a 20 minute speech, in which I was jam packed between a bunch of people, could barely make out a head that presumably belonged to Obama, if I stood on my tiptoes and angled my head right….techinically, though, it could’ve been anybody (I mean, I know it was him, but I was far enough away, that it could’ve been anybody for all I could tell).

So, yeah…..was behind three girls who got really pissed off when this guy drove by and shouted “mccain, mccain, mccain”. One of them was like, “that is so immature. If I had an egg I would’ve thrown it at his car.”

What the heck? He has just as much right to express his opinion on who should be president as she does. Sure, maybe it was bit immature to do when you know the vast majority of the people in the line are Obama fans, but it’s not like he was hanging around harassing anybody. Happy Halloween everyone!
Last night, lying in bed at 2:30 in the morning, I decided what I’ll be this year: an elf. Actually, I had thought to do a woodland fairy, but this morning with Mom’s encouragement I decided that I didn’t want to deal with making wings. So an elf shall I be.
I’m going to wear a knee length brown dress that has some rather interesting decoration and embroidery on it with a green shirt underneath (it’s short sleeved), green tights and my old riding boots. Besides that I’m going to have a rabbit skin pouch (not pink!) and a bow. I’m not sure which bow I’ll use, maybe the short wood one with no designs on it, because it would be easier to walk with that slung over my shoulder than the long one. As for my hair I really don’t know, I’ll probably just leave it down. I considered braiding it last night to make it wavy, but it was way too late after we got home.

Last night we went to see King Henry IV at th Folger Shakespeare Library, yay! Tom Story, the actor who played the Prince of Wales is really good…..we saw him there before as Lady Sneerwell in The School for Scandal by Richard Brinsley Sheridan.

Because I agree, there is no call for blatant attacks on either party–but this guy really wasn’t attacking anybody. anyways…..

A few lists and/or splorges of info, because I like them. They make me feel happy:

    My costume:
    -hand-stitched, reversible, false moustache/beard
-Purple and yellow polka dots on one side, bark-textured print on the other.
-Worn in-between and during a few classes today.

    Costumes seen during school day:
(our whole school dresses up on Halloween, the hallways are absolutely insane- as someone in my English class so wonderfully stated yesterday, “It’s complete social suicide not to wear a costume!” Well, if it wasn’t before, it sure is no that you’ve said that…)

Most creative costume idea: Hawaiian punch. (Hawaiian shirt and lei, and boxing gloves)

Most annoying costume: Bananas. I counted 5 today, though I’ve been told there were 6. Tasteless, stupid, uncreative, and eye-shattering, yet mysteriously popular.

Freakiest/scariest costume: Hannah Montana. Now, this in itself is pretty scary, but let me tell you- this certain “Hannah” was male. To top it off, the costume wasn’t pretty terribly executed.

Runner up: a group of four males, dressed as female soccer players. Ran around hallways chanting, “Let’s get fired up, girls!”
It seems the freaky costumes were mostly the cross-dressing ones?

Most confusing costume: Two of my friends dressed as each other. They don’t look at all alike- the blonde one wore a dark wig, and the brunette spray-dyed her hair yellow. The spray job ended up looking exactly like blonde hair. Additionally, they switched seats for every class, and I ended up very confused.

Most impressive costume: a ballgown-ed Princess, but get this- it was entirely hand-stitched. Now, some of the stitches and hems were loose, and the under-petticoat was a quilt, but I, for one, would never have the perseverance to hand-stitch the whole thing- in two days, too.

For heaven’s sake, it took me two hours to sew a mustache.

Most adorable costume: Snow White. Of course, it is not so much the costume that is adorable, as the person wearing it- my English teacher’s three year old daughter. *heart melts*

Well, I’m sitting in my living room with my laptop, waiting for trick-or-treaters. I was actually interrupted thrice during the typing of this post. Hmm.

My sister’s out t-o-t’ing now though, in what is basically the biggest halloween-ing party in the history of our neighborhood: nearly all the 2nd to 6th graders. Geez.

I saw a guy in a kilt today…..I’m assuming it was a costume, but you never know. The creepy thing was, it didn’t strike me as strange at all (and yes, I know scots where kilts traditionally, but given there resemblance to skirts, one would think I would be slightly taken aback, instead of just, oh, a guy in a kilt. wonder if it’s a costume?)

My friends Meghan and Kaitlyn were gingerbread girls.
Alex, Julia, Ali, and a bunch of others were pirates.
Cheyenne, Christy and Maria were “goth kindergardeners” which I thought was rather odd.
Preston was John McCain, which was also odd because he’s Republican and supports McCain.
    Maya was Juliet.
    Jasmin was a flamenco dancer.
Shalee was a “ghetto Pippi Longstocking.” Again, odd.

If you get near him he goes “take only one” In a creepy voice. If you take more then one he goes “NO!” and grabs you. Another guy dresses up like a zombie and walks up and down the street. getting near him results in him picking you up and taking you behind the house. The third guy hides in the bushes, then sticks his hand out and tries to grab you. It sounds like the scariest thing ever.

There was a bike ride that started at six, but it was a costumed bike ride and I can’t bike in my costume. :( Not to mention I don’t have time.
