I don’t exactly know what this entails…could someone explain?
Whoa, since when was this happening? It sounds like it will be fun, and I’ll help organize…but what exactly is it?
This came from here. I think there’s a holiday party in the works, possibly related to this. Lady G. has all the details.
What this is:
In my understanding, this is just like the balls that have been held in the past. The only difference being that we are celebrating the holidays that take place in November, December, and simply winter itself! Note: Unlike the Halloween ball, it is not a masked ball!
How this came about: On the eighth I asked about the possibility of having a December/winter celebrating ball. (On the Leaf Pile.) On the tenth, LadyG made the comment Vendaval gave a link to in the preceding post. On the Suggestion Box thread, several musers have expressed interest in having the party, and Mr. Coontz said that it could be done.
Current Agenda: At this point, I believe we need to decide starting and ending dates, plus discuss decor and the other usual things.
In my opinion, I think anywhere from the first to the eighth would be a good starting time. If we end it on January first, we would be covering New Year’s as well. I could virtually bring some tablecloths with snowflakes on them for the buffet. Oooh! Could we have a hologram machine projecting snowflakes onto the walls/ceiling/dance floor?
What is Muse Academy? It’s not another RPG, is it?
Maybe we could make the party casual, since we’ve already had two formal balls.
Well. me and Cerulean Pyros. We both had the same idea. Anyway, we haven’t really discussed it… but I’m pretty sure it’s going to occur from either Thanksgiving or Dec. 1 to New Year’s. It will just be an awesome party, with food, decorations, holiday music, etc. Just to celebrate Christmas/Hannukah/Winter. More details when more is decided!
Oops. Posts 4-6 weren’t up before. My apologies.
Date: I think the 1st would work. Anyone else?
6- good idea! I think that’d work.
4- oooohhhhh, I love the hologram idea!!!!!!!
For decor, I can contribute a ream of hanging icicles- the idea may sound tacky, but they are made of crystal and sparkle under any light, dim or full. Also, instead of going for that old-fashioned red and green, why not go for a cool blue theme? A subtle snowy outlook could both bright and sophisticated for a dance. Any ideas?
9- That sounds cool. Ooh, and what about paper snowflakes? Those are pretty. We could even post pix of ones we made!
10- Wackiest snowflake wins! I like that…
So, formal attire? Never shy a chance to get dolled up! (even if it IS virtual…)
Could it be masked? Because I liked how it was at the Halloween Ball (yes, I was lurking.). Or maybe people who want to be masked can be masked and people who don’t want to don’t have to.
Masked, masked, masked…I’ll wear a pretty silk dress…
The Halloween party was a masked ball. I think the holiday party should be different.
Ungggghhhhhh…. no offense, but thye masked thing bugs me. I want to know who I’m dancing with.
Ok, no mask. But perhaps a contest of some sort.
16- Yes! Now what kind of Contest could be Winter Themed…
17- Wackiest snowflake…?
16, 17, 18- I think a Snowflake contest would be awesome. We could have Wackiest, Coolest, Most Creative, Prettiest?
9- An ice cave ballroom would be fun, I like your idea. Maybe with some hurricane lanterns and old sleds for a dash of Victorian polar exploration.
19- Ooh! What about if those are four sub-categories of two separate sections: conventional vs. nonconventional snowflakes.
And how shall it be judged- public voting, majority wins? I dunno, it could get kind of messy in a hurry, (especially with so many categories) unless there’s a separate thread or such, and that could still be rather confusing…
Hi… uh… I’m not on muse academy, so… am I allowed here? And, uh (I’m apparently, uh, being a little timid), if so, could I have a bit of an update?
Muse Academy is for all Musers; the RPGs are just an offshoot (and a decidedly unreliable source of information about MA and its students, we GAPAs would add). You’re certainly invited to any Academy fuction.
How about REAL snowflakes? Lets see… there are:
needles
columns
disks
flakes
sugar cookie
and classic
snowflakes.
I can make any of them. (Except for sugar cookie snowflakes)
And the good thing is, we won’t have to RPG them there! And RPG-ingly choose the winner! We can actually send in pics of snowflakes!
21- How about GAPAs judge?
Re: Snowflakes: There’s a site where you can make virtual snowflakes. Hang on, let me check. It’s… uh, that’s odd, it used to be somethingsomethingsomething makeaflake. php but now it’s something different: snowflakes. barkleyus. com. Anyway, there are other virtual snowflake makers on the Web. We could also use graphic design programs to make them. If you have the technology, you could even take a picture of a real snowflake. You could draw one as well. Basically, we could use any medium. I think it should stay with just the 4 categories and not subcategories- Most Creative would probably be something like a graphic design ‘flake, or one using a medium no one else has thought of. Wackiest could be anything, and so could Prettiest and Coolest.
I’ve made a few ‘flakes on the VSnowflake site, could I send one in just to give y’all an idea?
About music: we should have a set DJ (or more than one, who would switch off) and a list of songs that can/should be played, so it won’t get as confusing. We might also want a list of really annoying songs that shouldn’t be played.
SFTDP in advance, I’m going to post a summary of what we have so far.
Overview
What: A party. Possibly formal. Not masked.
Who: Anyone who wants to join.
When: Either from Thanksgiving to New Year’s or Dec. 1 to New Year’s. Dates haven’t been decided. It may be in slow-time, we haven’t discussed that yet though.
Where: In Muse Academy, on its own thread. In a ballroom.
Why: To celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, and just plain winter. For fun.
How:
Music: See Post #26.
Decorations: See Posts 4, 9 and 20.
The Snowflake Contest: See Posts 16-19, 21, 24, 26.
I second the idea of an ice cavern, but… um… shouldn’t we do somewhere where we wouldn’t have to break down on heaters? How bout a forest clearing?
28- It wouldn’t be real ice, it would be simulated with plastic. Very good plastic.
hmmmmm… how about a cross between an ice cavern and forest clearing?
30- You mean like a northern forest with snow on evergreens? I like it!
Oooh! This sounds like a lot of fun! I think it should start December 1st and go till New Years. I also think that there can be casual dress, because being formal all the time can get pretty boring.
Snowflake contest sounds cool too! I can’t wait!!!!!
How about semi-formal? That would be a good compromise.
Northern forest=pwnsome. Love it!!
Any ideas for music? If no one else wants to DJ I’ll do it.
Let’s have some Icelandic music for this one — and maybe some from Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
34- Unfortunately, I know no Icelandic/Norwegian/Swedish/Finnish music. I do, however, know a bunch of holiday/winter songs. We absolutely MUST play “Jingle Bell Rock.”
We should dress up all wintery. I can be a winter vampire… *is vampire-obsessed*
34- My mom’s friend speaks Finnish. It’s so cool when she starts swearing in finnish… I’ve picked up a few…
36- Yes, that’s what I was thinking. Aaaaargh, I REALLY want to read Twilight but it’s out of the library and I was the SECOND one to reserve it. Anyway. *ends rant* Maybe there should be set colors or something? For the outfits?
Since it’s going to be Northern Forest, how about there’s one big tree that’s decorated with pretty lights, etc. and natural-material ornaments? We could have fake snow falling… *gets carried away* and there could be a menorah… somewhere. Sorry… I actually have Jewish heritage, although I’m mostly Christian, and we celebrate Hannukah AND Christmas. It rocks, I get 8 of my presents early!!!!
So, just to put my idea out there again, maybe this could be a casual dance, not a ball. We’ve had two formal balls already, so maybe we could just keep this one casual.
38- I suggested semi-formal…
Soon-to-be-abandoned idea: How ’bout we don’t make it a dance at all? Just a party with music in the background?
Wikipedia has an informative article titled “Music of Iceland.”
Sigur Rós and Björk are known to me, but none of the others. I think an opening with the anthem, followed by the house songs would be formal, and it could then relax to some of that pop-rock mentioned. I’m not coming in anything formal, just a collared shirt and some corduroy pants. What should the musical finale be?
Semi formal sounds nice.
Northern forest- Do we dance around the trees, are the trees on the sides, or… what?
Projection of snowflakes sounds great!
No, I want to dance.
Can the rooftop garden be open? I love playing in the snow (as I’ve only done it two times in real life… XP)!
Food- Hot cocoa is necessary. And eggnog. Don’t forget eggnog. Sugar cookies. Wassel, croissants, dried fruit, and ornately arranged strawberry and chocolate Pocky in a clear bowl (I think it’d look cool!).
I could virtually borrow my gramma’s mini Christmas tree that you can set up on tables and put tiny ornaments onto. Then we could have a Menorah on it, and whatever you call those Kwanzah things…
42- Croissants are totally necessary. What about pain au chocolat as well? It’s basically a croissant with chocolate inside.
As we’re in Iceland, the night will be long. Perhaps we’ll be treated to some auroras.
43 – Yay for croissants! Croissants with chocolate in them sound even better.
Maybe we could have ice sculptures made of fake ice that looks just like the real thing but isn’t cold and doesn’t melt. If anyone’s read Wintersmith, it could be like the ice castle at the end.
36 – I’ll be a winter elf. Now to go brush up on my elvish…
20- I love that idea! Exploration could be a great venue for people who want to take abreak from dancing.
30- Sweetness. I’ll have to get some more icicles. *runs to find some*
34- My auntie’s a Swede. I’ll ask her for some traditional holiday records.
45- We could have an ice-sculpting contest. That would be fun. Or we could just stick with snowflakes and not go overboard, but either way, ice sculptures are a must.
I think that semi-formal is the way to go. People should be able to wear a dress or tie, but I don’t know…somehow ball gowns seem a little bit too much for the occasion.
Food: Hot noodle soup of various types (vegetable, seafood, chicken, etc.) would be nice!
44- oooooooooh! Aurora Borealis!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!! We should have a laser Aurora.
Looks like the food’s coming along nicely.
Food:
hot noodle soups
croissants
pain au chocolat
hot cocoa
eggnog
sugar cookies
wassel
Pocky
dried fruit
Any objections? Anything to add?
Decorations:
Northern Forest
tablecloths with snowflakes on them
a hologram machine projecting snowflakes onto the walls/ceiling/dance floor
hanging crystal icicles
the snowflakes from the contest?
We could send in pix of actual decorations, like we sent in the pix of our costumes for the Halloween ball!
Music:
I like Vendaval’s idea. Any suggestions for specific songs? (like, Jingle Bell Rock, Sleigh Ride, etc.) Any ideas as to the DJ? Do we want music in the background, or what?
Dress:
How about you just dress however you want? If you wish to wear a pretty dress/suit and tie, etc. you may; on the other hand, you can just wear jeans and a T-shirt. At my school dances, we can wear whatever we want, but they’d prefer if we went in the Theme.
Food: Hákarl, hrútspungar, and slátur?
No masks ! The party should be semi-casual, everyone can dress up fancy but its still about hanging out & meeting new bloggers from the vast depths of the muse blog. Maybe the “Lets go Physiognomical” thread could put together a group photo ?
As for the food; WE NEED MORE CHOCOLATE !!!!!! Maronicreme would be nice too. I can bring some Sachertorten to help with the chocolate problem, but that won’t be enough…
What about mini plastic snowflakes falling from the ceiling ?
P.S. We need an enormous christmas tree. I’ll help decorate.
We should make the cookies tree or snowflake shaped.
Wow, another ball? Or is it a good old-fashioned party?
49- Let’s only fake it if the solar cycle doesn’t provide.
51 – Dibs on choosing what to use for a star.
53 – kind of a semi-formal cross between a party and a ball. thing. -ish.
53- read posts 4, 27 and 49.
51- Tinsel! Crystal icicles! Lights lights lights!!!! And there should be a giant menorah somewhere.
53-I think the majority has voted for it being a semi-formal dance/party.
51-Yes! More chocolate! How about chocolate scones? What is Maronicreme? What is Sachertorten, for that matter? I’ll also help decorate the tree.
49-Music- What if we let a wung take care of the DJ’s job in between people? That way, people can do it for as long as they like, and then go do something else.
47-Ice sculptures are absolute musts. Let’s have a display of nine ice sculptures, one carved to look like each of the muses!
Oh, by the way, could someone please tell me what Pocky is?
Let’s have vanilla ice cream that looks like snowballs! More food: Chocolate! Cranberry scones! Gingerbread! (How come gingerbread hasn’t come up until now?) More chocolate! Peppermint-white chocolate chip cookies! Key Lime cookies! Pumpkin cookies! Even more chocolate! Soon to be protested: Fruitcake!!
57- I like all your ideas. And Pocky is biscuit sticks dipped in chocolate, I think. Here: https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1431#comment-108
Aw man! HTML gnome, could you fix that?
SFTDP
The Star Wars party book had some tips for a “Hoth” winter party, I’m going to find it and see what they said.
I have an excellent raspberry-filled bonbon recipe. I can provide those, they’re delicious.
Also, what are we going to do about holiday decor? Can we have a Christmas Tree? A Menorah? I personally would love a giant tree in the festivities with really cool Muse-related decorations on it.
55 – Mmhm. Descriptive.
56 – Thanks.
60 – Kai! Only you would think of that, but I personally think it’s a lovely idea. However, not everybody here has seen Star Wars and is a freak about it like us.
I have some questions (as usual):
What the cake is wassel?
This won’t be masked, correct?
So, do we wear dresses or pantsuits or jeans or what? (I’m a girl)
A giant Christmas tree would be cool. As for Muse-related ornaments, we could have Kokopelli on top instead of a star.
62- It’s this reely reely good hot cider thingy that my mother makes. Yum.
62- No, I wasn’t going to follow the specific directions for Hoth, there were a few paragraphs on generically wintry decor.
63 – ooooooooooooh… me get idea… we make smartest pie for star!
62 – Inn’it great?
60 – I know what you’re talking about, I think it said something about… *goes to check* white balloons, sparkling wrapper paper, white butcher paper, glitter, etc. the works.
we should also make some hoth food: tauntaun toasties, hoth froth, and imperial probe droid puff. Mmm, my mouth waters at the thought of it.
How about we eat: *imitates Hugh Neutron’s voice*
Pie
PIE
Pie
PIE
Pie
and, don’t forget,
PIE!
But, seriously, you can’t go wrong with Pie!
*voice goes to normal*
Okay, bad joke.
How about fondue and sm’ores?
67 – I saw the jimmy neutron movie and most of the episodes and I don’t remember a thing like that. Where the cake did you get that one?
White chocolate fondue. Now THERE’S a winter food.
68- (a) Weird. I’ve only seen a few episodes and almost all of them mention Hugh’s love for pie. …Whatever.
(b) Perfect! White Chocolate Fondue sounds FLAMABLAMABLOUS!!!
68- Hugh likes pie in the show.
70 – No, I mean when he was like that specifically.
71- He did go “Pie, pie, endless pie…” in one of the episodes with the nanobots.
Er, can we get back to planning here, peoples?
*snaps fingers* Peppermint hot chocolate fountain! We definetly need one of those. peoplecan dip their cups in and drink. It’s the best hot chocolatein the world. And I can carve the fountains (fondue, choklit, etc.) out of ice! I’ll get to work! *works*
You’re right.
Okeydoke, that’s better. How about giant candy canes hanging from the cieling? That would be cool. Or they could be on the trees.
74: Why didn’t I think of that?!
76: How about spirals of blue and white paper instead? And candy canes (smaller ones) hanging from some of them?
So, howabout we start this… the first of Dec.? Or what?
This party just keeps getting better and better — and it hasn’t even started yet!
77) Cool ! 1.december sounds great 8)
Dec 1. Let’s go for it.
Being the lazy person that I am, I have not read through all of this thread. Could someone post an overview? If not, thats fine. I’ll read everything when I don’t have homework.
76,77- I’ll take ‘That Sounds Great’ for $500, Regis.
I’ve got the icicles, and I’ve managed to manipulate some real no-melt snow out of my brother’s wintry clutches…Should last fr the majority of the party and we can drain it into the forest afterwards.

I think I’ll write a short introduction for the thread.
82- As long as it’s biodegradable.
83- I vote for December 1 to New Years Eve. (Or First Night, as they call it in Worchester.)
84- It definetly is, I’ve checked. And Dec.1 to New Year’s Eve sounds fantastic.
Here’s a bunch of snowflakes!

I think there should be a menorah, since a lot of us celebrate Hanukkah. And one of those Kwanza thingies that hold candles, like a menorah. (No idea what they are called.) And the big Christmas tree.
What does everyone think?
8- Definetly. It’s like exploring other holiday traditions as well, and that’s good for everyone. I’ll personally be happy to decorate the tree, and I have a gold Kokopelli figurine playing the flute that I an put on the top.
I think we should have symbols for every holiday, but all of the same size and not too large.
89 – EQUALITY! LET’S DO IT
Are we going to have crackers? (The kind you pull, not the kind you eat, although having some of the eating kind around might be nice.)
89 – Yay! Excellent!
How about piping some music outdoors for wild and crazy dancing under the stars – and under those auroras KaiYves mentioned? If we get hyper enough we’ll stay warm even in the cold Icelandic night.
91 – Crackers you pull? What do you mean? I have this mental image of two people sitting in chairs pulling really hard on opposite ends of a little saltine cracker, then the cracker crumbles and they both fall backward. But I don’t think that’s quite what you mean.
As for food, I have an idea: Warm, chewy choklit chip cookies fresh from the oven! *can almost taste choklit melting in mouth*
Here’s another blizzard of snowflakes:
…*…*…*………………..*…*…*………………….*…*…*……………..
…………..*…………..*…………..*……………*…………..*…………..
……………..*…*…*………………….*…*…*…………………*…*…*…
Am I allowed to attend, even if I don’t participate in any roleplays?
94 – Haha, not that kind of crackers! They’re tubes of cardboard that explode when you pull the ends, and they have a toy and a paper crown inside. Like in Harry Potter, except in that case there are live white mice, real hats, wizard chess sets, etc.
Crackers you pull? I thought that was like two ends of a firecracker and you pull it with someone else and it goes BANG and stuff comes out.
95 – That wasn’t up when I posted, I swear.
Small carvings of the Muses will come out of the crackers. And they’ll be out of the ordinary in some way, I imagine.
91 – I vote both.
93 – Great idea! I think I’m getting an ocarina for my b-day, so I’ll bring that.
95 – Cool. We should definitely have those.
98- How about figurines of muses that are madeof glass and have a bit of the aurora trapped inside them so that we can see it anytime we want? That would be so cool!
Agrrrfishi (101): I bet that’s just what they’ll be like!
This sounds great! I love those little crackers. What will they look like on the outside?
For anyone who isn’t familiar with crackers, here’s a description of how they can be assembled, found through a Google image search:
The Olde English Crackers company describes the origins of the cracker as follows:
“They were invented in the mid-1840’s by a London pastry cook named Tom Smith, who came upon the idea while on a trip to Paris where he witnessed the French holiday custom of wrapping sugared almonds and other sweets in a twist of colored paper. Smith included a romantic message in his early crackers which he marketed in Britain as ‘Kiss Mottos’. However the product enjoyed only limited success until Smith devised a way to make the cracker ‘pop’ when pulled apart.”
I think they should have pie wrapping paper on the outside.
101 – Fabulous!
Yes! Pull-apart crackers! They are a traditional part of Christmas in my mother’s family. We all compare the prizes and then almost everyone wears the paper crowns. In my experience, there are also pieces of paper with jokes on them.
In my family, everyone gets his or her own cracker. However, one traditional way to do it is so that two people pull on opposite ends of the cracker. The one who’s half is bigger (thus containing the prize) gets to keep whatever is inside.
When they fly apart, there is a distinctive BANG that’s powered by a tiny amount of gunpowder. It’s quite startling if you aren’t expecting it.
101-The miniature muses with a little aurora inside sound fantastic!
104-Very nice diagram, Lady Bunniful!
So, are crackers like those toy guns that have no actual projectile, but produce a loud noise and a smoky smell? That would be cool, especially with prizes inside. But if the figurines were glass, wouldn’t they fall and shatter when you pulled the cracker?
108- they’d probably be reinforced somehow.
Pies on the wrapping paper? Anyone?
OOOOOOH! Presents! What about a gift exchange????
94- Meh.

…that’s Mario stuck in a blizzard in Snowman’s Land (from SM64).
Well, this is my first experience with Muse Academy, but I’d love to help plan.
I think a gift exchange would be a great idea! We could have a kind of White Elephant thing. For those of you who don’t know what White Elephant is, everyone brings a present to the party. Then each person is given a number, and in numbered order, they go up and select a random present from the present pile. The presents are wrapped, so they can’t tell what’s what.
I don’t know how exactly we’d do that in this environment. Maybe the number you get is the number of your first post in the thread? We could say things like “I’ll take #12’s present” and so on.
I love the idea of Hanukkah decorations. I am an absolute genius with sugar cookies. I could make Star-of-David shaped cookies, dreidel-shaped cookies… you name it. Also I can provide two dreidels that play a song when you spin them, and maybe M&M’s or gelt to gamble with when we play dreidel.
110 – I got that for virtual console, and good heavens, it’s hard.
Moving along with the crackers idea – we could have miniature muse wind-up things in some of them! You know, like those little toy soldiers that you wind up and they march on their own.
111 – Excellent ideas!
111- Yes, I’ve played dreidel before and it’s very fun!
111- Dreidel aint fun unless you gamble on it. With money
108-The gunpowder doesn’t actually blow the cracker apart. It’s the tiniest amount. When you pull on the paper strips, it creates enough friction to make a loud sound. It would fly apart from being pulled on even without the gunpowder.
Yes, the glass figurines would need to be protected (bubble wrap, maybe?). It might also be a good idea to do it over something soft.
I don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun, but I have concerns about having a gift exchange. I just think it would be awkward. It would be hard to keep people from feeling left out. If we were numbered, people would probably tend to want to accept gifts from their closest friends, resulting in some neophytes (and non-neophytes) being more or less ignored. I know that we would try not to let anyone feel left out, but it would likely happen anyway.
115- What if we had a bunch of gifts in the thread description? People could email what their gift is prior to/during the party. The gifts in the thread description could have, instead of the gifts, a description of their wrapping paper? Or a number? Then each person could say which gift they’d like, or be assigned a gift. On a certain day, they’d open their gifts and find out what they got and who it’s from.
115: Oh… darn. You’re right.
Well, there’s got to be some way of exchanging gifts. #1 accepts from #2, 2 from 3, and so on…? I mean, presents are traditional in quite a lot of winter holidays. And besides, everyone likes getting gifts. (I think.)
Or we could each announce we’ve got a present when we first post, and whoever posts next gets it, whatever it is.
Ooh! I think we should have lots of candles, kind of decoratively arranged. I know a lot of you have mentioned menorahs… and maybe just candles in pretty colors? Anyone have any candle ideas?
117- I saw a really cool twisty candle in the Plow & Hearth catalog. You pull up part of the candle through a metal thing, and when it gets to the metal it goes out.
117 – Maybe we could do a Secret Santa? Idk…
On food: The latest Muse issue had plenty of examples of worldwide foods, no? There were four families, and eight categories… hmm… (If I sound insane, or if I’m violating this site’s webiquette, ignore me. I sound insane because I am. :))
Okay! Random menu suggestions:
Grain & Other Starchy Foods (Mexico) : bread rolls, white rice, pan dulces (pan dulces=sweet bread)
Dairy (Okinawa) : Meiji yogurt, Yukijirushi cheese, Yukijirushi cheese wheel, butter, milk
Meat, Fish, & Eggs (Greenland) : This can use a lot of playing around with, since some people are vegetarians and the meat from Greenland is very different from American-culture meat. Suggestions are ground beef, meatballs, bacon, capelin (capelin’s a fish).
Fruit, Veggies, & Nuts (Mali) : tomatoes, dried okra, fresh onions, dried onions, red peppers, mangoes, oranges
Condiments (Mexico) : canola oil, margarine, mayonnaise, salt, garic salt, black pepper, dried bay leaves
Snacks & Desserts (Greenland) : Haribo Maoam mini fruit candies, Marabou chocolate bar, potato crisps, ballerina cookies, Chocolate Marie cookies, gum, ??
Prepared Food (Greenland) : chicken boullion, instant cup noodles, spring rolls, minestrone soup
Beverages (Okinawa) : Minute Maid, Seakuwasar citron juice, tea bags, water
Yeah, I probably am insane… just a few suggestions.
Guys, could you please read post 116 and tell me what you think? If we like that idea, we can lay down some ground rules. But please hurry! There are only 6 days till Dec. 1, counting today. We need SPECIFICS if this is going to work.
121 – Nice idea. Should I be coming up with ideas for a present?
BTW, it’s 5 now.
121-Good with me.
So, what should define a gift? Should it be something real- i.e., a 5- 10 dollar gift card, iTunes card, etc., or a virtual gift- description of something, etc.?
I vote virtual… sure it’s not real, but I know I’d rather get a miniature replica of the Statue of Liberty with a caramel-topped banana cream pie replacing the torch, even if it’s virtual, than a $5 iTunes card.
125- Same here. However, should we make it so that you can give a *real* gift if you want?
125 – Same. Very good idea for a gift, by the way XD.
OK, people, let’s get to work. The party starts tomorrow, so we need to finalize everything and type up a summary for the thread. Hurry hurry hurry!!!!
One of my friends on another site decorated his tree with paper models of airplanes? Could we do something similar?
129- Er, maybe. What I’m looking for right now is : A. a complete set of rules for the Snowflake Contest; B. a complete set of rules for the Secret Santa Exchange; and C. a summary of decor, food, etc. that can be posted at the top of the thread tomorrow. I can write the summary, but first we need to finalize the rules for the contest and gift exchange. FINALIZE, people.
We need more time… I say Dec. 10.
POST HERE PLZ!!!
131- That’s a little late, don’t you think? I say the 6th. It will give us time to plan, but won’t be too late…
Guys, please, INPUT!!!!
132- I’m for the sixth.

SECRET SANTA:
Everyone must bring a gift. You may not say what’s inside the gift until the choosing starts, but you may decribe how it’s wrapping. When we open the gifts (starting the 29th? That leaves us with two days to get it over with.), the person who chose your gift (based on the description) may not RP what the gift is. The person who brought the gift is the only one who can tell what the gift is. The gift may not be completely store bought. Say, you can buy a doll at the store, but you have to make all the clothes. Or just make the entire thing yourself.
Is that good? Anyone have any additions or subtractions?
132 – OK.
133 – Don’t forget white chocolate fondue.
134 – Sounds like a good idea, but maybe start a bit earlier depending on how many people.
So, are we go for the 6th?
136 – 6th.
134- I’m confuzzled. If you know who’s giving it to you, how is it secret? I say we should email it to the GAPAs. It doesn’t have to be something real (i.e. an iTunes card, Barnes&Noble gift card, etc. that can be accessed somehow), but it can be. All gifts have to be sent in by a certain date, and GAPAs will post descriptions of the wrapping paper with numbers. They’ll also say who sent in gifts. Then, on Dec. 24th, we can each pick one gift (numbered for convenience) and open it sometime during December. Everyone who posts on the Party thread must send in a gift by that certain date.
The 6th is tomorrow. I say we come up with a summary of some sort.
Snowflake Contest? Any rules we need to touch on?
A Sample Summary (we may not use this one):
Who: Anyone who wishes to come, including GAPAs.
What: A party to celebrate winter holidays, and winter in general. If you live in the Southern hemisphere, then you’ll be celebrating summer.
Where: This thread. Muse Academy. In a ballroom decorated like a northern forest.
When: Dec. 6th to Jan. 1st. Presumably in slow-time.
Why: See What.
The Snowflake Contest: Send in a picture of a snowflake you made or took a picture of. This can be a paper snowflake, sugar-cookie snowflake, graphic-program snowflake, drawn snowflake, or even a real snowflake you took a picture of, if you have that technology. Whatever medium works for you, send it. The snowflakes will be judged by Most Creative, Prettiest, Wackiest and Coolest. Pix will be posted as the snowflakes are sent. GAPAs judge.
The Secret Santa Exchange: Send in a real (gift card) or virtual (description of anything you like) gift to the GAPAs before [insert date here]. On [insert date here], everyone will choose from the gifts the GAPAs have posted (descriptions of the wrapping paper with numbers), and the person who sent each gift will reveal themselves and tell what the gift is. If it’s a gift card, etc., the GAPAs will make it available to the person who received it. [Is that possible, GAPAs?]
Music: Anyone want to be the DJ to start off? We’ll switch off, and if no one wants to do it at one point or another a wung will do it.
Dress: Wear whatever you like. You don’t need to describe it, but you may if you wish to.
138: Semi formal. Now I’m being kicked of the computer.
138: Okay, being a newbie *hides head* what’s the GAPA’s email address? I’ve got ideas for gifts, but I don’t know where to send them.
AH! PARTY STARTS TOMORROW! *happy dance*
Okay, we are go for party! (Yeah, I’m a space cadet, it shows.)
About gifts:
How about a thread reserved solely for posting gifts? Use an alias to hide your identity — you could even post as “gift” — then describe the wrapping paper, size, shape, whatever. That way, everyone could peruse all the gifts in one place, there would be no other comments in the way until it’s time to reveal the presents. (You can discuss your choices on the party thread itself.)
But we needt to be clear about one thing — all gifts must be strictly virtual. We can’t sanction actual gifts, for any number of reasons, in the interest of fairness, just for starters.
138 – Can I play my ocarina from time to time?
142 – Sounds good to me. What time will the thread begin, by the way?
140- It’s fairly smple. That’s ‘gapa@musefanpage.com’. And don’t hide you’re head, We’re happy to have to here. Welcome to the blog, by the way. I’m sorry I couldn’t meet you on the Newbies page, but I’ve been BA:TNG-ing for a while there and didn’t have to time.
143- Ocarina sounds great! I love ocarinas. And the thread will probably just spontaneously start sometime in the morning, like around now.
I like the gift thread idea, with aliases and etc. And I’m glad that it’s virtual… I think that it’ll make people strain their imaginations a whole lot more, for starters.
Wasn’t it supposed to start today?
Yep. We’re just waiting for the GAPAs to make a topic, get it started, etc.
