Yayyy!!! The blog is back!!! (The ads still aren’t gone though, so I guess that’s a problem on my end)

I kind of wish we could continue the Filiboid Studge rebellion RP though. I love rebelling against tyrannical teachers.

Also, Passover is coming! Which means that Kitty and I have been working our tails off to help clean the house. But the Seder is going to be awesome fun, so it’s worth it.

Speaking of Studgers, GAPA’s, I have to say that the April Fools trick was very good – only it nearly gave me a heart attack! I go to a private school that is extremely similar to Filiboid Studge. So come home (still wearing my uniform) and log on the MB, only to find that it has been taken over by *shudders* GRIMs! HELP, SCHOOL HAS FOLLOWED ME HOME AND TAKEN OVER MY FAVORITE BLOG!!!!!!!!!! But aside from my initial reaction, Filiboid Studge was fun.

It’s so nice to have the dear emoticons back again. I’m afraid, however, that the style of speech going on at Filboid Studge has worn off on me. Dreadfully sorry, I am.

I do regret that I never got to make dear Fussel the portable swamp he was so worthy of. ‘Twas such a lovely swamp, too.

    4) Me too. I have lots of teachers that are very annoying… Especially my art teacher:

“You’re supposed to be creative. Just make sure you think inside my teeny, weeny box.”

And then she gives us topics like “What I want to be when I grow up” collage. As usual, I got in trouble for picking “cruise ship captain” instead of teacher or model or nurse. Good thing I didn’t go with my first idea, captain of a tall ship

11- Echo-elly, ha. Some joke. I found you in my stomach when I went camping last summer. |P

Just so you know, my seemingly random and obscure post on Muse Academy led to a billboard advertising “Filboid Studge.” (It was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the name of the April Fool’s joke blog; I know those cartoons really well, don’t I? ;) ) Not that any of you needed to know that, but I’m terribly insecure and afraid of my posts sounding random and obscure. I also hate it when they ramble on and on about something you never gave a second thought about, and then upon realizing that, make a half-hearted attempt to find humor through the ironic and hypocritical situation (being that the post is talking about how it hates the very thing it is). Additionally, I hate it when my posts clog up threads with wordy blah blah blah…

(Note: I honestly didn’t realize it until I was 1/3 through the fourth sentence. :P Maybe I should just go back to making cartoons…)

I’m currently studying for the second time in this school year (I hate studying) and I really don’t get why we need to learn the importance of soil when we have been a few minutes away from farms for our entire lives. A lot of people are really itching to get school over with, and I think the teachers are just giving us busywork so they don’t have to deal with us.

    Pie 0

  29. There aren’t really any secret posts — just pages on which that version of WordPress stores graphics. For some reason (probably sloppy programming) they have comment forms attached to them. Luna found the pictures we had used on Filboid Studge, along with a few outtakes, and started posting comments from them. It must have felt like sneaking around in the attic or the basement or backstage or something, but there are no messages there or anything else very interesting.

Yes, the “threads” were linkable to from the line of bricks underneath SSSS, as well as the bricks below the following thread. When I first posted on them, I had no idea they weren’t supposed to be some sort of hidden thing, but were rather an accident. The GAPAs GRIMs later delinkified them, and kindly gave me 50 demerits for my troubles (posting two sets of first posts). I could post the URL for the first of ’em, which links to the rest, but I’ve got a feeling it will just be causing trouble and work for the GAPAs, as it will most likely get snipified. [Yup.]

ah, well…..*apologies in advance, dear GAPAs*

19~ *pops up out of nowhere* Sure, I’ll answer your questions!
How do people react when they find out that you are vegan? I get different responses. Sometimes people will look concerned and ask if I’m offended by meat/dairy/eggs. Others will look concerned and try to tell me that it’s an unhealthy choice and ask me how I get my nutrition. Yet others will admit that they think it’s probably a good idea, but they don’t feel they have the willpower to give up meat/dairy/eggs (usually they name one or two specific examples, such as deviled eggs or something).
Of course, there are also those who immediately get defensive and start saying that humans ingesting meat is natural, historically acceptable, biblical, normal and if we didn’t chickens would overrun the earth.

Do you have any vegan friends?
I don’t, no. I have some friends who have tried being vegetarian or even vegan at some point, or who are vegetarian, but at present I have no other vegan friends that I know of.

Would you feel comfortable dating someone who wasn’t vegan? Yes. I wouldn’t force my eating choices on anyone, and I would date someone if they respected me enough to do the same. I’m not a really strict vegan, and I’m not really offended by dairy or eggs. So yes, I would date a non-vegan who was respectful, careful and tolerant of my choices. I would make sure that there was a complete agreement and understanding first though. Vegetarian? Yes, see previous answer. I would, of course, prefer that they brush their teeth or abstain from eating meat before snogging, if possible, but I would think that would be nicer in general anyway.

    Why are you vegan?
Mainly because I was born and raised that way. My parents became vegetarian after they married due to financial needs, and after decided to become vegan, before I was born. We are not incredibly strict, but it is a way of life. Although they started eating this way because they simply couldn’t afford meat, we now think it’s a much more responsible, sustainable, compassionate and, of course, economical way of life.

(If a raised vegan for life): Do you feel your parents put pressure on you to be a vegan?
Yes and no. I have no desire to eat meat, since for my whole life I’ve found great culinary pleasure in the eating of vegetables. Meat simply does not seem like a food to me. I’m not bothered that much by eggs and dairy in other food products, and I generally prefer milk chocolate (and white chocolate) to dark. Like I said, I’m not that strict, I wear leather, I love wool and some of my favorite foods do have some eggs or dairy in them.
My parents have always said that I’m welcome to try any food I want (I think they’d be rather grossed out if I ate meat or seafood, but then so would I!),and I believe them.
I think I will remain a loose vegan, and a vegetarian for sure. I don’t think it’s as much that my parents have pressured me into it as they’ve simply never made a fuss about it. I know that there are other eating choices out there and that they’re available, but I’m happy with mine. I’ve never stopped enjoying food, and I don’t think I ever will.

Would you feel comfortable (a.k.a. would your parents put pressure on you or make you uncomfortable) if you started to eat meat?
I don’t know. I think they’d be grossed out, but I think as long as I was moved out and on my own they would respect my choices even if they thought they were wrong. I think they would have a problem if I had only them over and served meat, but that would be rude anyway.
Of course, I don’t plan on eating meat, so this shouldn’t be an issue.

I just had an absolutely splendid nap, that is to say, it was splendid while I was having it. I then proceeded to wake up and feel rotten because naps are dreadful things even when quite necessary (I had only six hours of sleep last night, and seven on most other nights this week), and my teeth feel fuzzy, and my brain feels fuzzy, and my eyes feel more fuzzy than anything, and I lost at least an hour and feel absolutely dreadful and horribly lazy, though I could stand to go back to sleep right now for several more hours. And because I’m not sure what to do, I’ll probably end up reading for another hour and a half or so and going properly to bed.

44~ Happy birthday!!! it’s nice to see you here again, Kathryn. ;)

51~ My last day of Drivers Ed was yesterday, and I’m actually pretty sad it’s over. I miss our group of friends.
My experience was it’s rather boring, the tests are pretty easy (it’s just common sense, but they’re worded strangely to trip you up) and if you’ve been driving (or paying close attention and asking questions while someone else is driving) you’ll probably know a good bit of it already.
We did a few posters in groups, our group did traffic intersections and drugs. (No, we weren’t actually “doing drugs”, much as the rest of the class and teacher probably thought we were!)
There were other things, one night a police officer came in and told us about the MD graduated licensing system and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. We tried on those goggles that simulate vision while intoxicated (I completely failed to stay on the line) and other stuff. Not a whole lot of hands on, mostly it was lecture form but your teacher may be different.
So nothing to be horrified about, it’s not too bad. :D

My grandma’s house had a fire yesterday. I haven’t seen it yet, but apparently it’s pretty bad. It’ll be several months at least before it’s ready to live in again, and it sounds like it’s a real wreck. She wasn’t home when it started, but the neighbors called the fire department and they’d broken in the windows and cut a hole in the roof when she got home. dad said 5 minutes more and it would have been completely burned down.
Anyway, that’s my big exciting news. I’m just glad she’s okay, really.

Yeah, I adjusted fairly quickly. My parents, however, are another story. We arrived on Thursday (I would have come on here as soon as I got inside the house, but our computer won’t connect to the internet for some reason– someone’s coming to fix it on Monday, I’m on the library computer right now), and still haven’t unpacked. When we drove up to our house, Widget & wizzy’s family (remember Widget & wizzy?) had put up a sign in our front yard saying ‘For Sale By Owner–House & 40 acres ((we actually have 60, but whatever)) SOLD’. They always do stuff like that. :D Apparently our neighbor thought it was real, and tried to call them to find out who was buying….
So, if you want to hear some boating stories, I’ll be back on Monday. Really sorry about the erratic connection here, but it’ll all hopefully be fixed soon. (I’ll be around for a couple more minutes, but the stories are kinda long, so…)

(SFTDP) Hi, Piggy! All right, will do. The short version.
    1. We caught 2 tuna while sailing to Long Island (Long island, Bahamas– look it up on Google Earth or something if you feel the need to.). I can say about the locations, right, GAPAs, because I’m not there anymore? I’m assuming I can, and you can snip if you need to. So, about the tuna, my mom caught one, and I caught the other while she was reeling the first one in. We troll, without rods, just handlines, which is really amazing when there’s a fish at one end of the line and you’re at the other end and there’s nothing in between. We made delicious jerky out of them– they weighed something like 30 pounds together!
    2. We caught a gigantic mahi mahi on the way back from Long Island to Georgetown– weighed 40 pounds or more and was as tall as my little sister (4 1/2 feet). More jerky.
    3. We watched two fishermen reel in a shark– hilarious. I’ll post the whole thing c+pd from my journal on Monday.
    4. We saw a glowing cloud in the sky. It was on the night of the shuttle laaunch, and we think that had something to do with it, but we can’t figure out what. We found out when we got back to the US that it’s some kind of fancy and rare meterological (? sp?) phenomenon, but I forget what.
Sorry, GTG. Like I said, I’ll post the longer and more in detail version on Monday And hi back to anyone who said hi while I was typing this.

It’s finally, finally spring break for my school district! We’re always one of the last to have break. I’m going to be at home for most of the week, but for the last few days I’ll be up in Connecticut visiting relatives for Passover. It’s going to be so nice not to have to get up for school, and I have almost no homework over break. My English homework, for example, was just to read Anthem, which I finished yesterday. It was interesting, but the use of the word “we” for the first ninety-odd pages of the book made me want to think that the main character had a twin living inside their head with them.

Unfortunately, it’s a scholarship through a company back home, so since I’m at school, in-person was not an option. I just don’t feel comfortable over the phone. I was trembling from the moment I called to the moment I got off…..

Oh, well. I am guaranteed $100 minimum, but I don’t think they’ve ever given less than $500 in the past three years. I think there are around 30 winners, and the funny thing? Both me and my sister were selected for interviews this year. Last year, the first year that both of us were eligible (must be a highschool senior at youngest), only I got it, although my sis had gotten it twice prior.

Anyway, I think I sounded like a total idiot on the phone. I typically do. The phone is not a medium that makes me sound intelligent. Not that I necessarily sound anymore intelligent in person, I just feel more confident, or comfotable, or something. I have never, from the time I was old enough to talk, enjoyed talking on the phone.

And I almost immediately regretted using JK Rowling (who the moron managed to pronounce wrong, y’know, R-ow-ling, not “roll”ing) as the person outside of my family that I most admired, as it made me look (sound) like a complete moron……*sigh*

  120. Luna the Lovely says:

120–You mean cynophobic, right? Fear of dogs?

Anyway, I love both cats and dogs. I currently own a cat (well, sadly, he seems to have taken to my father, the “cat-hater”, much more than he took to any of us females, so he spends all his time with dad…..), but for most of my life (9 years–no, wait a minute….That’s not even half my life  ) I owned a dog. Actually, although I don’t remember that time very well, my parents had two dogs when I was born, and the last of ’em didn’t die until I was probably four, maybe five. So I guess I’ve had canines in my life for 13-14 years, which would definitely be most of my life.

I think both species have their pros and their cons. Dogs require a lot more attention (walks, frequent trips outside, where you must stand and watch them do their business so they don’t run away), whereas cats are much more independent (although they do require a litter box that must be cleaned regularly…). However, dogs are much more willing to be snuggly on your terms, and if you want to snuggle, they’ll snuggle, whereas a cat only snuggles with you if it wants to (and is just as likely to spend all its times with your cat hating father than with you).

I dunno, i like both. I think once I’m out of college and have money to care for pets, as well as a place to stay that allows pets, that I would like to have both cats and dogs, and then I could have the best of both worlds.

Wow, this is great. Not. My next English paper assignment has given me all the procrastination fuel I could possibly want, and I have a lot of things that I really do need to get done. But no. For English, our next paper is to choose a “horror” movie from a list of six and then “analyze the film’s representation of family, and explain how that representation reflects the specific time in American society when the film was produced.”

So, this means I have six movies to watch (so that I can choose the one that provides the most potential to analyze), and of course we are left to our own devices to find them. And then when we start writing, we’re expected to watch our chosen movie around 5-6 times. I don’t know if I’ve ever even watched a movie I really liked that many times.

Yeah, so, I just finished watching one of the movies….It was rather lame, really, not a good use of 90 minutes (Child’s Play, the 1988 version). Dang, though, why any kid would want one of those dolls to begin with is beyond me. With those eyes and all, they’re awfully creepy to begin with. Especially for a person like myself who read RL Stine’s Fear Street/Goosebumps book (forget which it was) that featured one of those ventriloquism dummies coming to life and attacking people…..Definitely a lame movie.

I’ve got a feeling most probably are, although one of them has a good chance of being good (Robert recommended it back in October when I was looking for a good horror movie: The Bad Seed, 1956). I managed to find it yesterday on YouTube (in 14 parts, yippee!). Since it comes with Robert’s recommendation, I think it’s gotta be a decent movie, at least…..Anyway, I should try and get some real work done, instead of watching movies for english.

Anyway, I watched another of the movies for english, The Lost Boys. As my teacher told us, it is indeed quite funny (and apparently is supposed to be), although it’s not funny in the sense of most comedies these days. That is, the characters don’t really do intentionally stupid stuff, at which everybody is supposed to laugh (example, Get Smart), but, I dunno, it somehow is honestly funny, and I rarely actually find movies funny even when they’re supposed to be.

I won’t say it was a great movie, but I would be able to watch it again. And the vampires are hot, in a strange way…..Even if the clothing is completely laughable (if people honestly dressed like that in the 80s, than I cannot be thankful enough not to have lived through that time period–I wouldn’t be caught dead in half those clothes, and if I saw a guy dressed like that? I’d be laughing hysterically.).

The family life, though, dang, if I was going out and night without my mother’s permission, and without her knowing exactly where I was? I would be in such huge trouble. I mean, my mom, my entire life, has always known where I am. I never went anywhere without her knowledge….*shrug* And no, my parents aren’t overprotective, just normal…

I really hate school. Ditto maths. I was accused of being “decietful” on Friday because I was late to class because of music and MrsM said I was “thumbing my nose” at what she was saying about me being late and I must be dawdling from music lessons to maths class because she talked to MrM (the Music teacher) etc. Im quite good friends with MrM so I asked him about it and he said she hadnt spoken to him…WHAT!?! gah…I cant stand maths!!!

Summers over. This weekend was the end/start of daylight saving…never can remember what!

Might not have bothered me if they’d been fictional, but when my sis used family…..*shudder* I really did not like that game much at all.

So, I’ve got my yahoo email set to send me links to all new articles posted that mention Harry Potter…..

Anyway, apparently Jamie Waylett (they guy who plays Vincent Crabbe) got arrested because he was growing pot in his (technically his mothers, I suppose) house. The police apparently found “ten mature cannabis plants valued at about £2,000.” Supposedly his mother had no idea (how could one be growing that much pot and it not be noticed??? I mean, I don’t know anything about it, but I’ve got to imagine that would be a pretty sizeable number of plants, as that’s like $4,000 worth…..perhaps more, the dollar is probably even more devalued now than it was 5 yrs ago when that was the going conversion).

this brings up the very important question: If he goes to jail for any length of time (which sounds like there is a very real possibility, based upon what the article says maximum jail times would be for this sort of thing), who is going to play Vincent Crabbe in Deathly Hallows? I mean, anyone who read the book knows Crabbe’s got a pretty important part in the seventh book. It would really suck if, when Crabbe finallly becomes something mroe than Draco’s crony, he’s gotta be played by a hitherto unseen and unknown actor, since we’ve come to know Waylett as Crabbe.

Idiot kid, though. He’s gotta be making a decent amount of money off Potter, even if he is a relatively minor part. Why they heck would he see the need to be growing and selling marijuana???????? I really, really, really don’t understand people, y’know?
