Howdy, stranger! You new around here? Come right in! We’ve got some pie waiting for you, and friendly locals ready to answer your questions and help you feel at home.
For starters, we recommend that newcomers (that’s what “neophytes” means) look over The Rules and The HG2MB (Hitchhiker’s Guide to MuseBlog), which contains more helpful information than you can shake a stick at. We don’t know why you’d want to shake a stick at it, but now you know you don’t have to bother.
Don’t forget to stop by Who’s Here (see the menu at the top of your screen) and announce your arrival in a comment there, so we’ll be sure to add you to the official list.
MuseBlog Veterans: Please use this thread only to welcome newcomers as they arrive and answer questions that they ask.
Welcome all Neophytes! Prepare to be pied, advised, and … something else that rhymes with pied and advised.
First Post?
“Pied” and “advised” don’t rhyme, so nothing rhymes with both of them. But I’m sure new MuseBloggers will appreciate your friendly welcome.
2- Hmm. I guess they don’t.
3- Are you a ‘phyte? If you are, WELCOME!
If you’re not, whatever.
This is my very first post! *faints* I’ve been reading the MuseBlog for a while now and I know what
s are. Can’t wait to post more!
Sorry about the double post, but can someone give me a list of smileys? I know
and
and
, but I’m not sure about the rest.
(5) Glad to have you aboard, Enceladus! The first post is the hardest. Welcome pies should be on their way.
Welcome to Museblog, Enceladus!

A list of smileys can be found under HG2MB, which is linked to at the top of the blog.
Lists of smilies are unnecessary. Click on ‘HG2MB’, up at the top, and scroll down. Sorry, I should probably tell you about it, but I’m too lazy.
Anyway, you still need pies, don’t you. Yes, you do. Here,
Forever let us throw a custard pie!
Come on in and grab a tin and help the pudding fly… Sorry, I’ll stop now. If you’re curious as to where that came from, search
‘Meet the DAPAs’ and click on the result.
Oh, yeah. I just found it. Sorry!
Did somebody call for a pastry shower?

Welcome aboard, Enceladue! Check out the latest GAPA April Fool’s day joke, it was a doozy. It’s filed under ‘The Studge Experience’.
(9) Errata: I’m glad you like the song. (The actual lyrics go “let the filling fly.”)
I read it but didn’t post then… didn’t have an e-mail account then.
Welcome, Enceladus!
How did you come up with your name? Is it just a moon of Saturn, or is there another source? Anyway, keep the grammar, etc., up. ‘Tis marvelous.
Hello, Enceladus!
I hear you were a fellow lurker before you posted? Me too! *radiates happiness*
Welcome, Enceladus!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy your stay at the lovely place that is MuseBlog!!!!!!!!!

*waves* Welcome, Enceladus!!!!! Do have a pie.

Hi, Enceladus! *shoves pie in face* Have fun at MuseBlog!
4- If I was a pyte, why would I welcome myself?
Actually I’ve been on for a couple of months, but lurked before that, like Enceladus and small but fierce. I was on for a week about a year ago under the name jammajjam.
Anyway, greetings and salutations, Enceladus! May you find happiness and friendship at Museblog, where Musebloggers all blog in harmony and blah blah blah *rambles on, giving a lengthy speech*
ANYWAY, have a pie!
14- yeah, it’s a moon of Saturn. It’s the first interesting word I saw when picking out a name. It was on the cover of Scientific American.
Welcome, Enceladus!!

I trust you are enjoying your stay on MuseBlog? Tcha, how could you not?!
Hi Enceladus!!! Welcome to the Blog!!! Here, take a pie!!
Welcome, Enceladus! I am happy to meet someone who has something to do with a moon of Saturn! *is Crazy Titan Nerd- ish*
*Titanite
s*
I hope you enjoy it here!
Yeah I guess I’m a neophyte but what is this “mag” about?

Could some one help me?

:apie:
Hey Enceladus here’s the list and wheres my welcome pies?
I will send it in my next post
8)
WELCOME ALL NEOPHYTES!!!
Pies to all!
Hail Kokopelli!
Huzzah!
Peace, Pie, and Prosperity to all!
28 – Welcome!
Please try not to do that. It clogs up the threads if you simply list out every smiley. Thanks!
24, 25, 26, 27- Welcome!
For the record, it would be appreciated if you didn’t multiple post… Try to fit all that you want to say into one post. Thanks, and enjoy your stay at MuseBlog!
24-28- 1. Welcome, sophia!

2.”mag” = Muse magazine, which this blog is based on and what Musebloggers read.
3. Please try not to PoPo(Pointless Post) or post 5 times in a row.
4. Be patient and someone will notice your post and reply.
5. Here’s some pies.
Welcome, sophia! Though it may get annoying if you PoPo or post numerous times in a row, suppose you are still very welcome. And, patience is a virtue.
And what’s that with all the smilies?
Oh, your pies. Here you go…

*pies Titanite pies*
Welcome, sophia! Hey, that’s my best friend’s name. Is it your name? *decides not to scold about PoPoing* Well anyways,
!!!!!
WELCOME, WELCOME!
Yeah, Sophia is one of my friends names too!
*pies*
Oh better far to throw a pie
Into a muse’s indignant eye
Than to play a bookish, timid part
with a muse’s head and a muse’s heart…
Welcome Enceladus! Welcome Sophia! I hope you never find a live turtle in your soup!!!
Hi there!!!
I’m kinda a noob. I used to be gamingnewt but I’m still a little bit un- sure.
37-
Please. The term is neophyte. Also, remember English class. Proper grammar ang spelling count.
Hey everyone!
I’m not exactly new , but I haven’t posted in alooooong time. (Some of you might know me?)
But anyways, I’m looking forward to getting to know you all!
I remember you, I think you were already around when I arrived. Welcome back!
Of course I remember you. How long have you been away?
*pies neophytes*
Ohmygods, Enceladus, you’ve only been on since the beginning of the month? I thought you’d been on since February or something!
6(Enceladus)-Ooh,
and
… :♥

PIES!!!
Oops, I forgot we now have to use double spaces.
Everyone seems to have lurked before they came here…
*is bored*
What do you do on the -phytes thread if they already know everything ?
Hi, I’m Kiga__827, and I’m a girl. I didn’t see this thread at first, which is why I started posting on the random thread first. I come from the awesome Cricket Chatterbox. I’d recommend it to any MBer looking for some slightly random discussion. My birthday is 827 of 1997, which is why that’s part of my name. Got to go!
Welcome, Kiga__827! Have fun here at this lovely place that is MuseBlog! *shoves pie into face*
Welcome, Kiga__827!!! I hope you enjoy your stay here! Just so you know, most people will call you Kiga and leave off the underscores and numbers. (They shortened my name, too, back when I was Peace_Pie_The_Beatles_Rock!.)

Well, anyways, HAVE A PIE!
Oh, OK. Kiga then.
Thanks for the pies! I’ve heard quite a lot about them from the MBers on the Chatterbox. We also have bananas and singing mangos or something like that, but that’s another story.
Welcome, Kiga! Make yourself at home and have some pie!

Welcome, Kiga__827! Have fun exploring the blog!
Wow this was FAST! Thanks everyone!
Wow. Is this really not still pending authorization? Am I on at the same time as the moderators? Or are they just extremely quick?
The moderators–also known as GAPAs (Great And Powerful Administrators)–are extremely quick, yes. Also, there tends to be at least one GAPA on at almost every hour of the day (with the possible exception of the middle of the night).
Typically, it takes anywhere from 30 seconds (very fast, means a GAPA is currently working en’s* way through the comment log) to around an hour for comments to get moderated. The latter generally means it’s either an “odd” time of day and the GAPAs aren’t around (as in, two or three in the morning, when the GAPAs are smart enough to be asleep) or else they are unfortunately busy with their day jobs.
HTML gnome, please? The bold was supposed to close after the “A” in Administrator.
Oh–and the asterisk after “en”. Meant to define “en” for you–it is a MuseBlog created epicene pronoun; a gender neutral pronoun.
“Ens” doesn’t have an apostrophe in it. And it was Robert’s father that created it, not MuseBlog. How I know that, I don’t know.
Ah, it’s like the possessive form of “it” then?
Exactly. That was Dad’s reasoning.
P.S. how do I change the avatar?
The one you have is generated by WordPress automatically. If you want to supply your own, you can get a gravatar. Luna the Lovely explained how in comment 14.1 on the Random thread.
Hey Kiga!
Hi and welcome to the blog, Kiga!
51.1- I’ve had my comment moderated so fast that I never got an awaiting moderation message several times. I have no idea how that works, but it’s happened to me.
Kiga– PIES!!!!! ===[|} ===[|} ===[|} *SPLAT!!!!*
*GASP!* The emoticons are back up! Oh well. I’ll keep the old school pies.
Oh, and Kiga, happy Earth Day!
Welcome to the blog, Kiga!

Welcome, Kiga! *pies*
Well come, Kiga!

Welcome, Kiga! Have a pie!
What comments 55-58 said.
Thanks SO much everyone!
Wow, how’d my avatar change?
The GAPAs keep changing the ravatars (I believe that’s the term for the randomly generated avatars). Why, I don’t know; I believe it may be because people keep complaining they don’t like theirs. Oh, and
We’ve only switched them once since MuseBlog reopened, for the reason you surmised, but we did go through the repertoire back on MuseAcademy. Too bad we can’t design our own….
That’d be cool if we could!
60.1.1.1- Ohh, that would be awesome….
Oy, Kiga! I’ve figured it out! (mabe?) I think…..Anyway, I’m here now! Thanks for the tips, they helped a lot! As u cn see, I’ve chosen 2 use fireandhemlock1996 as my username…….. *notices cunfuzzled passerby* Oh, right. We’re on the Chatterbox (see Cricket website) together, and she was saying that she started posting as Kiga_827, which inspired me to come on, which I’ve been trying to gather the courage for for about, oh, three months now. Heehee!
Yes, you’ve figured it out!
Welcome to the MuseBlog. Although I’m not sure if I should be saying that when I’m hardly a veteran here… anyway. Hi!
Welcome to MuseBlog, fireandhemlock!
Do you mind if I call you hemlock? Fireandhemlock1996 is kind of a long name…
Welcome, fireandhemlock1996! I’m sorry, but some people here don’t appreciate chat speak. I don’t care, but I thought I would bring that up.

Anyways, have some pie!
Thanks guys for welcoming me! Sorry about the chat speak. Armada, how ’bout firehemlock? Does that work? Well, fireandhemlock1996 has a special meaning for me, you see. My favourite book is “Fire and Hemlock”, by Diana Wynne Jones, and I was born in 1996. Anyway. Some things I will say randomly are “Anyway.”, “Heehee!”, and “Nevermind the crazy persons~Jen says not to!!”. Random, yes? Yeah, my “other name” is Jenni. I might also post as jennigrl1996 too, so bewarned. Anyway. See? I do! Gah!
65) DIANA WYNNE JONES? Isn’t she the Howl’s Moving Castle author? That was an awsome book.
heheh, you are pretty random.
I think so….although I don’t think I’ve read that one……She definitely wrote “The Dark Lord of Darkness”, and the “Charmed Life” books, and some (well, lots) others…..I like her books. They’re fun.
Actually, most people call them “The Chrestomanci Chronicles”, so you know. You really should read “Howl”! Pink hair, then green slime…………
Yeah, I couldn’t remember exactly what it was called…..And also, I meant “Dark Lord of Derkholm”, not Darkness.
Apparently I not only can’t type, I can’t even think straight….. I suppose that’s what 4 straight hours in the sun at 80 degrees will do to you…..
Oh, that’s a really good series. My favorite is The Lives of Christopher Chant.
Diana Wynne Jones wrote over 21 books. Here are the most successful ones/the ones usually carried by stores like Borders and Barnes & Nobles:
Howl’s moving castle
The Chrestomanci series (charmed life, e.t.c…)
Fire and Hemlock
The Merlin Conspiracy
(The Dalemark Quartet, out of print according to her site, but you can still easily find them)
Other, older ones include:
Hexwood
A tale of time city
…
She has an official website, which you can find by googling her full name (older copies often don’t include it). Since she started writing in 1973, some of her books are out of print and lots of old copies don’t have accurate information
Hiya, fireandhemlock! Welcome to our much beloved ‘blog! *pies*
As for the chatspeak, well it was your first post–no worries. Some of us just find it hard on the eyes (I, personally, have a hard time reading it…..), but we’re certainly not going to chase you off and crucify you for having one post with it….Anyway. I’m rambling. (As you may have just gathered, I use “anyway” quite a bit, as well……especially when I’ve managed to go off on a tangent, which I seem to be very good at doing. I blame it on too much school and not enough sleep. Sleep especially. *cussesoutstupidblastedfirealarmthatwentoffinthedormsat3inthebloodymorning* Yeah, um, like I said, tangents…..)
Anyway, welcome!
Welcome, fireandhemlock1996!

Just saying, if you post under different names, people might not realize that you’re the same person… it could get confusing. Yeah… Anyway, welcome!!
Yeah, DWJ wrote The Chrestomanci Chronicles and The Dark Lord of Derkholm and Howl and I have all of her books except for Aunt Maria, Eight Days of Luke, Hexwood, and Witch’s Business! Anyway. (I tolger!) Thanks for welcoming me, everybody!
Eek! I’m so sorry, guys~I think I posted under what I post as on the Chatterbox, Jenni T. Aaah! Please don’t kill me, altho I surely deserve it!
You don’t deserve to be killed.
Hi fellow Chatterboxer! Wonder where TNÖ is on here?
Wow. FAST.
yes I do; I entirely confuzzled everybuggy by posting under my chatterbox name…………..
Did I already reply to this? I can’t remember! Wait, I think I did. Anyway.
Dumb autofill…………….it got me in trouble in another (although less friendly) website. Gah! *throws autofill to floor*
What’s an autofill?
It’s when your computer remembers what you usually put in name boxes, etc, and fills it in for you. Usually, I would check it, but it entirely slipped my mind. Nice ta see you, L***, I mean, KIGA!
hahahaha! How’d you guess who i was? (just kidding L-Kiga, I don’t mean it, I know I told you what I would post as)
Everyone probably thinks we’re very weird…
Well, you are MBers, aren’t you? Weirdness goes with the territory.
Heehee! Kiga, I saw one post by TNO, on the Script Frenzy thing
Welcome to the blog, fireandhemlock1996 and Kiga__827. *forgets how to make a pie*
Anyways, welcome. If you have any questions about the blog, just ask any of us. We’d be happy to help.
65-Sure, firehemlock works. I looove DWJ’s books– she’s one of my favorite authors. I don’t remember Fire And Hemlock that well, but I really liked Howl and the Chrestomanci series.
66.1.1.1- Possibly DDOD had something to do with it also? (I read a lot of old threads. Reading a lot of old threads is basically the answer to any MB question you might ask me.)
woot! I got me a gravatar!!! Anyway. Gah! What’s DDOD? I’m in a random mood at the moment, my apoligies.
*shrug* I was wondering the same thing…..
Probably Dark Duke of Darkness, whom you can find on the “Who’s Here” page.
Nice gravatar!
Whut!?
75, 75.1-
What Robert said. Really, Luna, you don’t know? I thought you were around at the same time as him… *shrug* Whatever.
I like your avatar, by the way, firehemlock. It’s…. firehemlocky.
Yeah, yeah, I believe I was. But the context didn’t make it clear to me that you were referring to a ‘blogger, and it’s been long enough since he was on…..And besides, I’m losing my mind. It’s part of getting “old”. =P
Thanks, that’s why I chose it, anyway, because it’s firehemlocky. Like I said before, I took the picture myself, at a public garden facility in my area. Kiga, you will probably recognise the picture, I’ve posted it on the Chatterbox.
Actually, I haven’t seen that before. Maybe that was before I came on.
Whut? Uh, L-Kiga, you were on the chatterbox long before i was, I think, and anyway, I put them up there fairly recently. Unless you’re not L*** anymore, and you’ve changed identities with someone?
Nope, I’m still L***. Maybe the Admin deleted it? What thread was it on?
Paige’s thread on dte; “This is Jefferson……….”, Hey, Kiga, I think we’re on at the same general time!
Cool! This site’s Admin (who are called something else on here) are really fast! P.S. I started on the Chatterbox January 15. The thread got posted January 16. I’ll look for the thread. Thanks,
L- Kiga
Oh, now I see the picture. Thanks.
you’re welcome. I posted on it to put it back on the first page, btw.
We are administrators. We just happen to be great and powerful ones.
Yeah, I know!
It’s just that on the Chatterbox, we call them the Admin because I am not entirely sure how to spell the full word. GAPAs… I like that!
GAPAs. Great And Powerful Administrators
Welcome, everybody!
Welcome all new musers!
*pies*
My loverly chocolate kiwi cream pie!
Oh! I’d better go get the poem from the MA site!
*coughs for attention*
We call it Mostly Harmless
and we swear that it is that
and we love you as long as you
don’t pull bunnies from your hat.
We run away from bunnies
but if you need to ask why
then you’re sure to have a friendly
cream banana cherry pie.
We all think slightly sideways
and we hope you do that too
and if you use proper grammar
then we’re going to love you.
Yes, we call it Mostly Harmless
Welcome to MB.
and we swear that it will be
so welcome to our ranks, neophyte!
Wow, cool poem!
Uh…….? ‘Tis a good poem, I must admit. Who is the author?
I’m fairly certain that she is.
81: I am. Thank you very much! Everyone said on the MA site to put it up on the neophyte thread… so when I spotted the thread now that MB’s back up I did. Hurrah?
Hurrah!
80.1/81- Hey! I know you guys!

erm, yeah, nice to see you TNO!
Hi TNÖ! We should get the whole Chatterbox gang over here!
Kiga, don’t you think it would get a bit crowded if we did that?
80-OhmygodIloveit! Where was it posted? I didn’t see it…
Question: What are the colors next to the birthdays?
The person’s favourite colours.
87-They’re each MBer’s favorite colors, traditionally worn by other MBers on en’s (each MBer’s) birthday.
Hey, guys! I wasn’t sure which thread to ask this question on, so sorry if this question is out of place here.
Does anyone know which issue it was that towards the back there was a picture of a girl who was actually a picture of all the girls from this one town in Great Britain blended together? I’m pretty sure that the issue was from about three years ago. I can’t find my issue of the magazine and my sister was asking me about it. It would be super helpful if someone would post the website of the guy who had done the blending of the pictures. Thank you so much!
I could swear I’d seen that question before… anyway, Muse February 2006 issue, with Flo on the cover:
www. haverhill2000 .com
Vixen in the Eyes of the Moon asked about it recently.
Oh, thanks.
Then could mine be lavender and gold?
I am Amblystoma Maculatum. It’s the scientific name for the spotted salamander. I am a friend of Enceladus’.
Welcome!
So, is the spotted salamander your favourite animal, or do you just like the Latin name? I’m sure Enceladus warned you about the grammar here, right? I can see you’ll not be breaking any rules. So, is there anything you’d like to know about MuseBlog yet?
Actually, AM is slightly obsessed with good grammar. Try making longer sentences, Please. You sounded like a robot.
Wait, I should use longer sentences or AM?
AM. Sorry for being ambiguos. Your sentences are perfect length. You also write very eloquently on the Hot Topics thread, but I disagree with nearly every thing you say.
Greetings!!!!!!
Wicked cool name. Do you have a preference of what we could call you? Because “Amblystoma Maculatum” could get hard to type out every time.
Hi, welcome!
Welcome to the blog, AM!

Welcome, o honorable spotted salamander and other neophytes!
I suppose that you could call me AM. Also, the spotted salamander is one of my favorite animals AND I like the way it sounds.
