      1. Catkopelli, while we appreciate your enthusiasm, we would appreciate it more if your comments were on topic or contained some sort of content beyond exclamations. Most of your posts from last night and today have been pointless and/or made on inappropriate threads, so we have zapped them. Please take a little more time to think about what you write. Thank you.

  1. In celebration of returning to Museblog, could I have a slice of chocolate cake, please?

The wungs seem to have vanished from below the menu.

(First post? Or technically second, not counting GAPA posts.)

  6. Hello, chaps. I would like a few wung buttons with lime marmalade, and a large cup of piping hot roiboos chai.
*sips* What shall we talk about?

  7. Let us talk about how cute wungs are, and WHAT THEY ACTUALLY ARE. I really cannot tell what they realy look like. They look different each time they look like > < ^ and it is really confuzzling! Piggy knows what they look like in the kitchen. Could you tell us hmmm?

  8. 12- They are fractal, multidimensional beings which also happen to be cute and fuzzy in many of their manifestations. Here’s one: ~(^oo^)~

    1. 21- I’m just wondering…are you a Muse reader, or did you follow TNÖ here?
22- Currently, I’m reading Eldest (recreational reading) and The Prince and the Pauper ([home]school reading). Oh joy, Elizabethan English. *sigh* An I liked it, I wouldst read more of it. (Gah! My brain hath been affected by this beast! )
Re: Wungs: I’ve gotten a wung recently, too. He’s called Zale. You can see him in my name. ( (0.0) ) What do wungs eat, anyway? And is IWAS still existent?
Zale: [in Wungese, through translator] A cup of jasmine tea and a cucumber sandwich, please.[/wung translator]

  10. 12- Well, I know what they sometimes look like. Being hyperdimensional means they can choose to take different appearances in our four dimensions.

    Pie 0

POSOC, in your picture of a wung, what are the ~s sticking out from the sides? Wings? Puffs of fur?
And little pointy ears, too. Very nice.

      1. I fixed it for you, Rainbowstar. The upgrade handles links to comments a little differently. Instead of the number on the thread, you have to use the comment’s unique number, which you can find my mousing over the “reply” button and looking down at the status line at the bottom of your browser. Use the number after “reply to com=,” in your example, the number is “283468.” So the link looks like this:

    Squid 0
  15. 18- Only if you’ll have a piece with me.
    19- Here you are.
21- Well, a tea room. I’ll have that peppermint/honey tea right out to you. Oh, I’m the Hare & Hedgepig barkeep, more or less. I take and deliver orders.
22- Mmm, that sounds good. I’ll have one too. As for what I’m reading, I’m reading The Things They Carried for school, as well as the HG2G trilogy again.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Trilogy? There are five, aren’t there? *counts* HG2G, Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Life, The Universe and Everything, So Long and Thanks For All The Fish, and Mostly Harmless. I have the Ultimate HG2G, which is all 5 of them plus a short story about Zaphod Beeblebrox. It’s extremely tattered. I’ve read it at least three times.

  16. Nelby seems happy with his life so far. He recently got slightly sugar-high after some doughnut exercises. From now on, donuts shall be moderated. But he can still have some every once in a while, they’re kind of like catnip is for cats for him.

  17. 22- I’m supposed to be reading Of Mice and Men for school, which reminds me, I must do some reading tonight.

Oh, and I’m naming (“o_o”) Carl. Everyone say hi to Carl.

    Pie 0

  18. I’m in the middle of two books, currently. One for pleasure, so not much getting read there, too much school. It’s “Melting Stones”, by Tamora Pierce, you could call it a sequel to the Circle of Magic/Circle Opens books, which I read ages ago. It’s sort of “light” pleasure reading, but I always enjoyed her books, so…..

For school, I am reading “Jubilee”, it’s about slave life in the South in the early 1800s. Actually, it’s hauntingly familiar of another book I read a long time ago for [home]school, whose name was eluding me for the last few days, until I did some google searching, and I have determined that I am 99% certain it was “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” that my current reading reminds me of. I’ve got to read 314 pages of Jubilee in the next week, only 80 or so pages in so far…..gah. At least it’s somewhat entertaining–it’s novel style, historical fiction, so it’s not too difficult of reading, and good except for all the moments of deja vu (moments that pound me over the head saying I’ve read something nearly identical before……as I said, it reminds me of UTC. Not quite sure why, I mean, it’s a lot idfferen,t but yet a lot the same, too. *shrug*)

  19. How is everyone suddenly finding wungs? You’re not stealing my workers, are you? You all have to make sure that you let these wungs work. They’re a bit like house elves, in that, but, instead of being depressed or something, they begin to plot the downfall of humans. If they don’t work, they mutter.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  20. 35- Oh, don’t worry, I found ens cute little face peering up at me from the file drawer at my house. En’s native to my area.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  21. 37- Oh, you just find one. They probably have a colony somewhere near your house.

I imagine Deluska as being somewhat like a Tribble from that Star Trek episode, with little feet and huge eyes. But different people see them differently.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  22. I feel like I’m one of the only people left without a wung. I’d rather adopt one found somewhere on the blog than find one elsewhere though, so I’ll be staying wungless for a while.

  24. Delicious tea; thank you very much. :) What exactly is a wung? I know I could probably figure that out on my own, but I am lazy now and my leg aches. So if you don’t mind explaining… do.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  25. 42) Why, you’re a Central New Yorker too? Hooray!

    45) I’m not really sure, but I think it’s a creature that helps Piggy in the tearoom, and maybe it’s a type of point.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  26. SFTDP, but Piggy describes wungs here:
Definition: A small, possibly hyperdimensional creature which acts as a House Elf-like helper in the Hare & Hedgepig. Examples are Speen, Floom, and Nelby, which each have claimed a MuseBlogger as a foster parent.
That definition can be argued; that’s just somewhere to start.

Thank you. And I could take a look at the milkshake machine.

I found a lone wung who doesn’t seem to be native to our area. But en was nice, so I named en Ayu. (p_q)

  34. May I please have a plate of grilled potatoes and sausages, some mint tea, and The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde? it’s so nice to eat while reading. And could you please add some honey to the tea to make it sort of purplish-blue? Sorry for the heavy order- I’ve been hiking all day and am now finally clean, hungry, exhausted, and covered in mosquito bites. Ugghh.

59- I’ve been reading this blog for over 6 months yet still don’t have any idea what a wung is. Please explain?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Wungs can be whatever you wantr them to be. I see 3- to 4-foot tall, fuzzy greenish black humanoid beings. Question: do wungs talk in a human language? Like English or Polish or Swahili? Or do they use their own “wung language”? Oh, and hi Carl.

    Went hiking AGAIN today- Why??
    I dunno.
May I please have… let’s see… some fish and chips, and some brownies and MORE peppermint tea? Thanks. I think I’m coming down with something-hopefully not swine flu- I’ve been coughing and sniffing all day and the day-long trek up a mountain in the pouring rain didn’t help much. Alpine weather…

    1. Well, this is a tearoom. We serve tea and things to eat, as well as other drinks. The menu above is just a reference; since we’re in the Oasis, we serve far more than could be written on a menu. Chances are, if you want something, we have it available. Oh, where are my manners? I’m Piggy, the barkeep. I take orders and deliver them after the Wungs finish preparing them. Here at the Hare & Hedgepig, we ask for good grammar and overall English, as well as a calmer, more polite, and saner atmosphere than in the rest of MuseBlog. Can I get you a pot of tea or perhaps some Battenberg cake?

  41. 73- *converges* Hi, Soccerchica! Welcome to MuseBlog! I suggest you visit the Welcome, Neophytes! thread, created completely for welcoming new people. I suspect you will be welcomed heartily by the general population, as you don’t use chatspeak, double posting, or any of the other neophyte-ly (neophyte-new person) behaviors frowned upon by some MuseBloggers. Anyway, again, welcome, and have a pie. That’s a friendly pie, by the way, and not to be taken as an insult.

*looks at post* Gods, I sound weird. Don’t worry, Soccerchica (is it me, or did there used to be a Soccergirl here?), I don’t usually sound like this. :)

I thank you all for your hospitality. I must be leaving soon, for it is getting late down in FL.

  45. Wow. I am NEVER on here anymore. Too busy, I guess. Well, now I have a bit of time to relax and I figured “There is no better place to spend my free time than at the Hare and Hedgepig.” Um…everything looks so delicious! I think I will take the peach cobbler. And a cup of lemon tea too. Righty-o. I don’t know what a wung is, so yea…I won’t be able to be on here much but I will try to make it when I can. So much has changed! I have to go now. Is the Pie Isle thread still alive or has that been abandoned? I always liked that place- gives you the shivers, but good exciting shivers. Tata!

    Pie 0

  57. I’ll have… Chamomile tea, please. I need relaxation right now… I’m also working on a book report. And, while this discussion is on Wungs, I have one. En looks rather like a tree, a willow to be exact, and also like a Pac-Man ghost. En was my avatar for a while on MA. Unfortunately, En does not work as my avatar here. But, Ens name is Mip. I may post en later.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Here is your tea. My my, it would seem I have started a trend of sorts of adopting wungs. But from where did all these wungs appear? I hope there’s not some sort of exile occurring.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
  58. 100.1- Yes, indeed, you have. I have no idea where all the wungs came from, but I found mine at MA, where I assume there are a lot of wungs around.
*looks around* This is the first time I’ve ever been in the H&H, can you believe it? I think I’ll have some Chai and a muffin. *settles into comfy chair* My, this is nice.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  59. Where wungs are concerned, I wouldn’t be too certain about exactly who is adopting whom.

As for exile — well, they seem to be interdimensional beings. Imagine a string of yarn threaded back and forth through a piece of cloth. To shadow-people living on the cloth (inhabitants of a two-dimensional plane), each piercing (passage from three dimensions into two) would look like a separate “object,” but in reality there is only one thread. In a similar way — I can’t say for sure, but hypothetically speaking, the many members of this flock, herd, or school of wungs could all be the same wung.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  60. 101- Here’s your chai, madam.

102- Interesting proposition. It looks entirely possible, doesn’t it? Although the wungs could be even more complicated than that. They’re obviously not limited to our familiar four dimensions, but could it be that they’re not limited to any number of dimensions? If this was the case, then there would be an infinite number of instances of wung in an infinite number of dimensions, even dimensions that, theoretically, don’t exist. One wung, an infinite number of “wungs”, if you see what I mean. If that’s the case, then, for each MBer, there are an infinite number of “wungs” and thus, as a finite number divided by infinity is zero (or is it?), none of us have adopted a wung. So, in perspective, they don’t exist at all. That brings up the question: can anything exist?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  61. Mind you, it’s just a hypothesis. There’s no reason to think that it’s remotely true. It’s perfectly possible that wungs are just what they appear to be: good-natured, charismatic little intelligent animals that look different to everyone who describes them.

    1. Aha, but it’s, for all we can decipher, equally possible that they are something else entirely. Well, as long as they (en) don’t (doesn’t) start revolting, we’ve nothing about which to worry.

  63. May I have a bowl of ratatouille and some peppermint tea? Thanks.
I think wungs look something like Pygmy Puffs in Harry Potter 6, except grayish-green. So if they all rose in revolt they could be quite dangerous.
But I don’t think they would rise in revolt. And I’m not quite sure I understood that bit about string and two-dimensional shadow people.

  64. Ah, I found mine at MA as well. He was a picture-wung, that is, my avatar, until they were replaced by geometric designs. At that point, I took him home with me. So, I do not believe that he was in any form exiled, merely lacking work.

    Thanks.
Are you on at that ungodly hour or do you live elsewhere too?
107- Actually, if you don’t want a geometric design you can make a WordPress or account and upload a picture of something wung-like to your profile.

  66. 108- No, I actually was up past midnight.

I love buying tea. There’s a somewhat extensive (not nearly as extensive as the H&H, of course) tea shop a few miles away from my house, and I went there today. I bought 2 oz. of “Subtle Strawberry White Tea”. It sounds pretty common, but it was their highest level of rare tea, and it is amazingly delicious. I’ve also tried their ginger peach tea and their Japanese green tea with pomegranate. Next time I think I’ll try one of their types of roiboos (usually an African red tea).
Now if there was only a good cheese shop around here.

    Pie 0

  67. 109) Strawberry White Tea? Sounds good! Oh, and it’s subtle too!

I’d like some ginger beer again, if you’d please.

I went to the local ice cream shop (Purity’s) and tried out their green tea ice cream, it was alright! A bit sour though.
And I bought a box of Pocky at the coffee place next door.

My English teacher got us roused up on another subject…how strange words sound.

  69. Uggh. Uggh. And I repeat: Uggh.
After you write a word over again a few times it loses its meaning and you just begin to wonder why it’s spelled that way.
May I have some Green Tea?
There’s a really good tea/ coffee place near my house. It has pretty much everything. And it smells really great, and the owner is really nice and if you buy an ounce or two of tea she gives you samples of everything. I accidentally made some peppermint tea yesterday and forgot about it. Then when I remembered two hours later it was still boiling away on the stove (that’s how I make my tea) and the house smelled so strongly of mint my aunt was coughing.

    Pie 0

I have a question: do wungs have genders?

I’d like a strawberry shortcake (If you don’t have that a strawberry scone with whipped cream will do fine) and a ginger beer, please. (Is that like a cross between root beer and ginger ale?)

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  79. 129- Uh, it’s nowhere near my birthday. And as for the genders of wungs, it’s a Schrödinger’s cat of sorts. They might, they might not. There’s really no way to know. Here’s your strawberry shortcake (of course we have some) and beer. Ginger beer is basically root beer made with ginger root.

  83. I think I’d like some deviled eggs, too, but could I have them with mayonnaise instead of mustard? I dislike mustard. Four or five of them, I’m rather hungry. With some toast, and some sort of tea… But what sort? Well, I think I’ll be content with Chai tea. My mouse’s name is Chai. Named after the tea, of course. She has the correct colors on her for Chai tea. Is there a difference between Ginger Beer and Ginger Ale? I’ve never figured that out.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  84. 137- Mayonnaise? Well, I’ve never heard of such a thing as that, but I’m sure my Wungs have a recipe that’ll suit your tastes. As for ginger beer/ginger ale, ginger beer is similar to root beer while ginger ale is that clear, somewhat less common pop with a rather neutral taste. Ginger beer has a much stronger ginger taste to it.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  85. 137- You have a mouse? I used to have mice. They were named Rosie and Squeak. But that was a long time ago. I’ve never made deviled eggs with mustard. I make them as follows: Cream hard boiled egg yolk with milk and mayonnaise until correct consistency is achieved. Add a lot of salt and pepper. Using an icing bag, pipe them decoratively into the empty whites (or, in my case, onto crackers). Sprinkle with paprika and top with a caper or two.

    1. I didn’t use to see it around here until recent years. Now it’s pretty easy to find, even in regular grocery stores. But I don’t usually see it at fountains or restaurants. I like Reed’s Extra Ginger Brew which contains 25 grams of fresh ginger compared with 17 for their regular, probably more than standard ginger ale. Funny thing is, I hardly ever drink sodas of any sort — too icky sweet — but when I have a cold, Reed’s Extra Ginger tastes amazing.

For some reason, I feel like having the breakfast I had every day when I was in Washington on our 8th grade trip- an egg-salad sandwich and chocolate milk.

  91. 144- I was only speaking from my experience at home and on holiday. It differs from area to area, but as a whole, ale is more common than beer.

  96. Catkopelli- If you could, would you please put any new comments/food and drink orders in a new post instead of in replies to old posts? It’s quite difficult to filter through an entire thread to find orders. Now, if you would also stop hugging me, here is your cream soda. By the way, you do not have any number of wung points. I am in charge of those, but you wouldn’t know that as you don’t even know what they signify. Please remove that description from your name immediately. Thank you.

      1. That’s irrelevant. If you had a website, and you posted an idea on it that had come from someone else, it would still be their idea even though it’s your website. Even though it’s your name, wung points were still Piggy’s idea.
Also, we discourage appending more than three exclamation points to any statement here in the H&H.
By the way, Piggy, would you bring me a cup of oolong with clover honey? I need to settle my nerves.

      2. Catkopelli, wung points have a particular significance, as they are part of the game of Paker. Since you are not participating in the game, the appearance of wung points in your name is misleading. Now that you know that, it would simply be polite to remove them from your name.

Please take your comments about wungs to the appropriate thread. As I mentioned before, the H&H is a place to relax and have conversations. One-or-two word, hit-and-run posts do not belong here.

By the way, you might also want to read the original Wungs thread to learn more about their history, habits, and traditions. Wungs are complex beings and very dear to the hearts of MBers.

Catkopelli–Much like wung points, Potterpoints have a particular significance. They were created by MissSwann and myself for a Harry Potter trivia competition between the two of us, to determined which of us was the “bigger” HP fan. Given that, and the fact that you were not a member of the competition (it was between MissSwann and me, only), I would like to request that you please remove them from your name. Or, on the off chance they were merely something you “created”, not realizing that a point system by that name had once existed, would you please do me the favor of modifying the name significantly enough that it cannot be confused with my point system?
