      1. Oh, like you male MBers have never done such a thing? I can easily envision Beavo sending in a picture of his strapless mini for the GAPAs to post.

  1. Ideas we have so far:

    – Colorful theme
    – Vegetarian menu
    – Wungs, guinea pigs, or gerbils taking our coats
    – Guinea pigs to eat? (Please, no.)
    – Ice sculptures that melt away to reveal flower sculptures
    – Colored/lit fountains (with drinkable fruit juice?)
    – Maze of rose hedges
    – Easter egg hunt? (Might be hard to pull off.)
    – Puffin Puffs (I have no idea what they are, but they’ve been suggested.)
    – Wedding between MissSwann and Red-Tailed Hawk? (Apparently it’s forbidden by law, but maybe in a alternate universe it could work.)
    – Sherbert
    – Fruit

That’s all the ideas that support has been expressed for. The ones ending in question marks have been argued against.

    1. My observations/complaints/additions, not to you specifically (well, not all of them):
      1. I still don’t get the idea of something taking our coats. I find it unnecessary.
      2. What’s wrong with eating guinea pigs?
      3. Why ice? It’s supposed to be spring.
      4. Yeah, not liking any sort of “hunt” either.
      5. Puffin puffs haven’t been suggested; they’re just a fact of any MuseBlog ball. I’ve already begun preparations for them.
      6. Sherbet, not sherbert.
      7. Several people are wearing non-Western garb, e.g. kimonos, tunics, or togas.
      8. Formality is required, as at each MDB.

      Pie 0

      1. I think the idea of the ice sculptures is that they have more permanent (wood? metal? plastic?) sculptures of flowers inside them, so they melt to reveal the flowers.

I don’t know what’s actually wrong with eating guinea pigs (after all, we eat chickens, pigs, and cows), it’s just something I’d prefer not to do.

I don’t really get the coat-taking thing either, but it’s been supported by numerous MBers.

Tunic? Perhaps I should wear a tunic. *goes on epic quest to find tunic*

        1. Vegetarian menu sounds good to me.

And I don’t get the coat thing either… why can’t we just hang up our coats in the cloakroom?

          Pie 0
          Squid 0
          1. At formal events (and some not so formal) a cloakroom attendant is expected to do that for you. Guinea pigs would seem a trifle too petite for the job, however. And guinea pigs tall enough to handle cloakroom duties…no offense to anyone, but I really don’t want to meet them.

      2. Actually, Piggy, why don’t we eat you? Your name is half a guinea pig. Amd Rebecca, after my pictures of adorable little Emmett and Jasper, why would you not want to eat them???

          1. Oops, I meant meet them. Not eat them. No one eats my little babies. And Piggy, someone else could make the food. :D

            1. No, I don’t think so. I’ve trained the wungs to not obey anyone except Master Baker and me, so singlehandedly making all that food would be impossible. Mwahahahaha…

              Squid 0
                1. Well, they’re also polite, so they’re bound to obey Lady Bunniful, S.Q. as well. I wouldn’t encourage rudeness, after all.

                  1. I should hope so, considering I built this tea room, pixel by pixel, with my own two hands. Not to mention all the tea I drank and scones I ate in the name of thorough, painstaking research. Or all the blood, sweat, and tears I put into its creation. Okay, so no actual blood. And only metaphorical sweat. And there was laughter among the tears. But still…

                    1. Really, I had been thinking it would’ve been offensive to say I trained them to obey you as well, considering what an obvious fact that is. It would’ve lessened your greatness, o Queen.

  2. Oh! Idea for the easter egg hunt:
The GAPAs could put little, random easter eggs around the ‘Blog. They would be brightly colored, and if you click them, music plays, confetti sparkles, or koko comes and pies you someone.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  3. 5 – That might be a bit hard for the GAPAs to pull off, especially as we’re all just getting used to the new blog. (I would reply to you using the nested-comment thing, but this stupid school computer won’t let me.

  6. Hmm, I don’t have a dress yet, nor do I plan to draw one. Maybe I’ll change my mind, but this way I will describe it with words so everyone can imagine their own versions. *lazy*

  7. I don’t feel like sketching one either so I shall describe it too… long red ( BRIGHT red) halter with lots of sequins to be tacky.

  8. I’ve drawn/scanned/sent my gown in. You can post it here, or wait till the ball if that’s less complicated.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. That would be a big “no.” This is a virtual ball. All the clothes are comfortable and flattering and you will all look amazing. Use some imagination. You can wear a sweater vest and khakis 364 other days of the year, if you like. The whole point of a ball is that it is another world, a dream, an exercise of wonderment. Not “come as you are.” <GAPA_paroxysm>

Formal means, at a minimum, dinner jackets (a.k.a. tuxedos) and floor-length gowns.

  9. What? There are only 19 posts but it says 30 at the top. Oh well.
So when does this ball take place?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. That’s because it includes replies in its total number, but since they are subsets of the initial post numbers, the number of new initial posts is much lower. Did that make sense?

  10. I don’t really want to draw my dress (I’m not much of an artist) so I’ll just describe it.
Long, green, with lots of embroidered somethings on it.

  11. I have a picture of my dress, if it is okay to link to it [I made a copy in Photobucket. ~Rebecca]:

What do all of you think?

    1. i like the dark color, but the lighter one’s style. I think I like the lighter blue one better… but I don’t have much of an opinion.

  13. Dang. So I drew up this awsomocity ballgawn, but my email isn’t working and my scanner doesn’t connect to the printer. So Its brown, like a kimono, but a little more fitted in the upper arms. It has a green belt in that pointy western style and lots of brown feathers coming out of the slit below the belt.

  15. 4- AHHHH! You don’t know what Puffin Puffs are!? Well, I have some explaining to do. Puffin Puffs are a rare delicacy (baked and puffed by the Wungs) that we have every Ball. They’re quite delicious, really. (Granted it takes some time to chew.) Before eating, most people rip the beak and the feet off (I dip them in guacamole separately) although IBCF has been known to eat them whole, in one bite. Where is he? I haven’t seen him in ages. So, the boatload of hors’ devours that should be arriving soon…who will be there to eat it in three gulps? I guess I’ll do it.

  16. 32 – They’re made of actual puffins? But that wouldn’t go with the vegetarian menu. Also … ew.

    1. Wait, it’s all vegetarian? No non-vegetarian menu selections?????? Even virtually, I’d rather not eat just vegetarian dishes…..

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. How about this: we can reverse the usual “vegetarian options” and make the menu vegetarian, with a few “meat options.”

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
      2. I wouldn’t want to eat vegetarians! If there aren’t any non vegetarian selections, then we have to eat vegetarians! And I don’t want to be a cannibal!

  17. 3.1.1- Right, yeah.

3.1.1.1- You’re wearing a toga? That could be interesting, but rather hard to dance in….

25- I like the darker blue one.

33- Yup. In all ways. XD But some people like them. And we have to have them, otherwise it wouldn’t be the MDB.

I don’t really know what I’m wearing…. Something blue and satiny, possibly strapless. I am unable to visualize it in more detail than that, however, so I guess just imagine it however you like.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  18. 36- I already knew what mine looked like, so I drew it. I’d like to hav eit for our formal, in a little under a month, but it’d be pretty hard to make.

By the way, Rebecca, when you post it, would it be possible to fix the color? It’s supposed to be cherry blossom pink, not… whatever that weird color is that the scanner gave it. And the ribbon flowers are purple.

  19. So when’s this ball going to be? Is it going all through May or just for a few days?
I think I’ll wear a bowler hat with a kakhi suit and black pointy shoes.
And I defintely do not want to eat puffins.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. No. The May Day Ball is just a dance we put on each year on May Day, or May 1st, which continues for a month or so since MuseBlog runs more slowly than real life. If you want to stop by and see what it’s like, you may, or you can ignore it. There’ll be virtual food, music, and dancing, and real socializing, and very real fun. Welcome to MuseBlog, by the way. Don’t worry about not getting Muse. There are a number of people here who don’t, and they get along just fine, although you may miss out on some inside references.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. Thanks! I like dancing, so I might come. So, whats on the menu? I’m allergic to milk, eggs, peanuts, beef, and orange JUICE (but I can eat oranges themselves in moderate amounts without getting sick), so I would like to know what will be on the table beforehand, because if I need to bring my own food, I would like to be aware of it. Again, thanks for explaining!

PS. I like your name, Piggy!

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
        1. Thanks. Yours is neat too, though rather death-related. Oh, don’t worry about the food–there’ll be more food on the buffet than could be listed on MuseBlog, thanks to the unusual physics of the Oasis.

          Pie 0
          Squid 0
          1. How is “fireandhemlock1996” death-related?

Your name reminds me of Lord Of The Flies, which I once read the first few pages of before getting bored and forgetting about it. There was someone who everyone called Piggy, but he hated it.

As for allergies, perhaps we can make some sort of genetically modified food that no one’s allergic to. Since it’s all virtual, we could plausibly do that.

            Pie 0
            Squid 0
            1. Yes, there was a discussion regarding my name in relation to that character’s on an old Muser parody that never took off: Lord of the Pies. As for fireandhelock1996 being death-related, hemlock is a plant that Socrates used to carry out his execution, and fire, well, I’ll let you figure that one out. You’re smart. And in 1996, I’m sure at least a few people died, but that’s beside the point.

              Pie 0
              Squid 0
              1. Given that a “few” people die every day, I think that, yes, it’s safe to assume that a few people died in 1996.

                Pie 0
                Squid 0
          2. Excuse Moi? I was not thinking of death at all, quite the contrary! It’s a reference to my favourite book, “Fire and Hemlock”, and, as I was born in the November of 1996, it’s just a reference so people can see how old I am. But death? Nono. Not at all, Piggy! And, don’t worry about food, I can bring my own food.

            Pie 0
            Squid 0
    1. Ummm…. how should I say this? It looks a little…. bunniful. Overly fancy. Uncomfortable.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. Bunniful? As in, hot pink? It looks more light pink to me. Compare it with this:  .

And as for comfortable, this is a virtual ball. We don’t have to deal with real-life problems like allergies and uncomfortable clothes. Everything’s comfortable.

It seems a lot of people are getting their dresses from the same site. I just went there and found my last year’s gown. This year I will go for something more interesting though. I’m deciding between the many choices I have found. Maybe if I were good enough at photoshop, I’d make something with all of them. Should I go for puufy skirts or not? I’ve found this really gorgeous puffy thing, but I don’t know…whatever, I’ll think about it. I still have a few days to think about it.

    50- YES. DEFINITELY.

  32. CATKOPELLI:

The May Day Ball has already started. Not surprisingly, it began on May 1st, or May Day. I see that you know this already, since you have posted there, equally obnoxiously. Please do NOT post multiple times. Just because you can reply to posts, it doesn’t mean that it’s not EXTREMELY annoying when someone posts four times in a row on the same thread, especially when they have a ridiculously long, misspelled if I might add, name. “Catkopelli The Great(43 MBETW Points+wungs (*-*),(-_-),(o-_-o),(^-^),(O-O),(p-q)+57 PotterPoints.)+Hermionie’s Biggest fan?” First, what, exactly, is a MBETW point? Second, you really don’t need SIX wungs. Plus, several of them already have owners. And you really can’t be Hermione‘s biggest fan if you can’t even spell her name right. Are you a neophyte? I didn’t think you were.

The PoPoPo fines you 30 choklit bars and confiscates anything in your name that is in parentheses. I would suggest you become simply “Catkopelli the Great,” or even “Catkopelli.”

Sorry if this is a bit harsh, it was just getting REALLY annoying.

      1. Catkopelli, I hope you meant to make a friendly gesture, but in context, your words comes across as disrespectful.

Playfulness is one thing, and we welcome it. It is quite another matter when someone repeatedly posts comments that are disruptive and contrary to the spirit of the threads they are intended for.

In the long run, you will enjoy MuseBlog more if you reply or comment appropriately. Other MBers will be more friendly toward you and more likely to reply to your comments.

PLEASE take all the parentheses out of your name. We see that you have points. We don’t care. And p-q, o.o, and, I believe, ^-^… possibly -_-… already have owners. Take the wungs away. YOU are the one who is not treating them ethically.

I know you’re really excited to be on MB and all, but you don’t have to post SO much, or SO pointlessly, or with SUCH a long name.

And you haven’t given me the fine.
