Summaries, please! Help Wanted!

Many of our threads have continued over numerous parts, which sometimes makes them baffling to newcomers or even intimidating. Without a guidebook, it’s not always easy to know where to begin, and the prospect of reading through hundreds of comments is daunting to say the least. Although a quick reference isn’t a substitute for reading, it can help someone decide if the thread is ens cup of tea.

We’d like to add a summary page to the HG2MB to give MBers a guide to the continuing threads, but we need your help. With all the newcomers around lately, there’s no time like the present, but GAPA schedules are pretty full right now. Therefore, this thread will serve as a place where anyone who wants to help may draft out useful descriptions of the threads they’re involved with. RRRs and RPGs are obvious candidates, but any multi-part thread — Wungs, Hot Topics, the H&H — also has its traditions and expectations.

These should be BRIEF descriptions, not detailed plot summaries. A reasonable paragraph would be ideal, somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-150 words. Think catalogue listing. Course descriptions. How would you answer the question: what’s going on here?

Thanks!

The Hare & Hedgepig: A dignified thread in which polite, courteous, and thoughtful conversation takes place. Pointless posting, excessive exclamation or question marks, emoticons, and the like are strictly forbidden. This thread is the most proper and polite in all of MuseBlog, so proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and organization are necessary. Pie throwing is not allowed in any case, nor is yelling. See the included menu for suggestions pertaining to food and drink orders. Barkeep Piggy is always standing by to take orders and deliver comestibles. Please stop by anytime for a pot of tea and a plate of scones.

    ((Thank you for this, GAPAs.))

Here’s some very short descriptions. Maybe you could build off of these.

Chronicles of Museica: A thread that deals with the politics, adventures, wars, and general events within Museica and the realms beyond. Musers can hold governmental positions, fight in epic battles, or explore the countries of the Muse World.

Ships’ Logs: Beyond Museica: A semi-nonrandom RPW/RPG thread that follows the intrepid explorers of the Musiverse’s uncharted territories. Face hideous sea monsters, cutthroat pie-rates, armies of cheese-beings in the future, and all manner of outlandish types. You can set off on your own ship or join someone else’s crew (recommended).

Somehow I woke up thinking about this. I was thinking about other things too, like giant birds eating people and headphones that let you talk with Mozart. I came up with a few summaries, but I can’t remember what they were, and they were probably hopelessly illogical anyway.

I’d do one for BA:TNG, but that’s best left to Kittymine or I-Man. So I’ll do one for Superheros and Mary Sues.

    Superheros and Mary Sues
For ages, the Muser Justice League has recruited Superheros and fought evil. Now, Mr. Joe, ( ) is threatening the existence of humankind with his evil machines that turn one into a Mary Sue, a perfected being. The Muser Justice League must deal with treachery, evil siblings, Mary Sues, and even book characters brought into reality, to quash Mr. Joe and restore imperfection to the galaxy.

I’ll just post a summary of every RPG I’m on… Correct me if I’m wrong somewhere. I haven’t finished reading some of the older threads, so I’ll need help with some (MA, ship’s logs). I don’t wish to offend anyone by posting a second summary for some threads, since I think it helps to have different views.

    Superheros and Mary Sues
The Muser Justice Legion recruits Superheros to fight  and his army of Mary Sues, perfect beings. But the base behind the H&H is blown up by :mgreen: and the superheros flee to a hotel where it is rumored that Mr Joe currently resides. After time travel, evil cat sisters, an incident involving laboratory cages and other events of little importance, they find themselves facing perfect characters from books at the hotel’s buffet. After a little time/space traveling and a battle, the heros find themselves in  s base. They escape and hide out in a mountain base near a small village. Now some of the Heros are confronting elves and the fellowship in Lorien (don’t ask, it’s a long story). The others are trying to build a machine to counter the threat of the sueifyer machine, which has already turned a member of the MJL into a Mary Sue. Another key plot device are the “remotes” of  , which can transport beings in time and space, resulting in utter confusion (partly why the story jumps from place to place).

    The current thread is here

    Bunny apocalypse: the next generation
Twelve years after the original apocalypse, most of the resistance members have kids and lead a “normal” life. Then they are kidnapped by HPBs, and their children must rescue them (threads 1-2). Then, everyone returned to the base (several small battles, threads 2-3). There was a council, then a big battle at the base (3-4). The HPBs attack the base again, and succeed in driving the resistance members away. Some retreat to another base, others go to the DOH (dungeon of horror) and free some imprisoned resistance members. The HPBs track down the resistance again and they flee to a new secret base. There they are discussing future plans and training. (Many characters have force-like abilities.) Crucial plot devices are/were the mad human disease (now there is an antidote), and the HPBs plan to travel to the center of the earth (a current dilemma).

    Here is the current thread

    Muse academy
This RPG plays in Muse Academy, where the students always have adventures. There are 4 houses, named after our GAPAs and they have the same qualities. The current adventure centers on some cough drops sent to KaiYves by his cousin, a scientist, which force people to tell the truth. After decoding the rune-like characters on the accompanying note and accidentally ending up in the sewers, we are now back in the building, waiting for the FBI (to give them the cough drops). But villains are in close pursuit, and one student (Adeia) is still being held captive in the sewers under MA.

    Guess where this leads

    Ship’s Logs
This RPG is about MBers sailing around Museica in tall ships and exploring it. (See the enlarged version of RTH’s map here ). There are various ships, you can either join or sail away on your own. The Seahawk, which has the largest crew, is currently exploring the flavor continent.

    Come sail away here

    Muse Academy Lunar
To teach where no school has taught before… This MA is on the moon. Unfortunately, it’s off to a bad start: Robots have invaded and are attacking/holding many students prisoner. A small group of free students are battling the robots, and trying to free the hostages in the history classroom.

Help them fight the robots here (MAL is doesn’t have a thread of it’s own and is still on “other muse academies”, so don’t be surprised at the thread title. Just scroll down.)

    I’ll finish this in a reply later-gottago.

    Monthly Random Thread
No, not the “Hey look, my computer is shiny” kind of random. This thread a place for comments that don’t specifically belong on another thread, as well as comments on things going on in your day-to-day life (e.g. sudden epiphanies, occurrences at school, vacations, etc.) It’s the only thread on the blog that has no predefined topic of discussion. This thread is replaced two or three times a month.

    Romantic Musical Comedy
This thread is an RPG that has both drama and comedy. There is a local showing of “The West Side Story,” and a lot of “drama” (pardon the pun) to go with it. Edward is the director (teehee, that’s me!). Dates, break-ups, heart-breaking, back-stabbing, and cruel pranks are to be expected.

  14. (13) I wouldn’t worry too much, CQC. We’ve had Orthodox Jewish MBers in the past. One prolific early poster, Phoenix, was an Orthodox rabbi’s daughter. As for long discussions, they’re exactly what we like to see on Hot Topics, as long as they don’t boil over. They’re much more informative than hit-and-run posts that just say “well, I think” or “you’re wrong” without elaboration.

    Oh. I should do various RRR’s shouldn’t I?
    Erm……

    Alchemy
For anyone who’s looking for an RRR that hasn’t gotten too far in and is still easily joinable, it’s this one. The story focuses on Nicholas, a boy of 17 years, who has gotten himself into trouble by messing around with the forbidden alchemical arts. When his teacher catches him, he turns his name into the authorities. Now Nicholas is thrust into the world of alchemists, politics, and rivalry. Not to mention the presence of a mysterious document.

    Searoc
This RRR is currently in the editing stage, so any help with ideas would be appreciated. The story focuses around 2 boys, Ren and Tam, who both have the ability to control fire. Ren is the more honorable of the 2. Both boys work on a pirate ship against the empire. When Tam betrays the crew to the empire and the dreaded Mordran, the lives of both turn into an action packed adventure!

    Alter Ego Thread:
Basically, this is a game of guessing where Musers use a different pseudonym than usual and describe themselves. Then, other Musers try to guess who you are. Although things can get pretty intense, it’s not usually very interesting for new timers. Definitely a better thread for old timers to post on who are familiar with other posters personalities, but it’s always fun to read other’s guesses even if you’re not familiar with other posters.

If you want to join in an RPG or RRR that looks interesting, try joining in on the ones that are in their first or second parts. It’s easier to weave in a character and it won’t take horrendously long to read the first part if there is one. For example, I joined Romantic Musical Comedy in Part Two and it’s going fine. I don’t know what kinds of stories you like but Letters, England, 1874 is brand new and so we would welcome another character. :-)
