What is everyone’s first memory? I have scattered recollections of the condominium I lived in until my sister was born when I was two.

Whenever I sing that song my parents tell me to stop being sadistic. It’s weird.
I haven’t gotten the issue yet, but one of my first memories is at a pet store. Why do I always come on this thread when I haven’t gotten the mag yet even though I know it’s just going to ruin the surprise? Anyway, I don’t really even remember what the place looked like, but I was playing around in this small pile of bird seed while my dad was buying air stones or whatever. The pile was next to a cage with a large parrot in it. I was happily making a mess of the seed when I happened to look over my shoulder and saw a scary-large bird claw ever so slowly inching toward me. Of course I was scared to death, but I actually don’t remember what I did. I think I ran over to my dad. I’m not sure how old I was, so I don’t know if that’s my first memory. I’ve made up with parrots since then. There’s also the time I had the great idea of trying to ride my tricycle down the basement stairs. I don’t know what I thought would happen, but I ran into wall (thankfully) before I hit the bottom and got a bloody nose. I’d say that’s a pretty good outcome for such an adventure. I also rode my trike down a hill into some briars, but that was later. I just never learn do I?

This isn’t a memory of mine, cuz i don’t remember any of it, but my mom told me that when i was really little we went to a restaurant w/some friends and so parents were talking and then mom turned around and i had a sharp knife in my hand and was holding it like i was about to stab somebody and examining it and mom freaked out and took it away (you never get to have any fun when you’re little, do you? lol, jk)
My first memory isn’t really much of a memory though. It was definitely sometime before i was 4, because it was in our house in marquette (in da up eh?) and it was sunny and i was running down a little hill. To one of those little playground thingies, and dad pushed me on a swing. Everybody can go “aaaawwwww” now. Come on, get it over with. *grits teeth* Ok.
I liked the hitler thing, and the parade (Huzzah for giant elephants!!!).

okay, so how do memory, hitler, solar flares, and large wooden puppets relate? I think the issue was mostly supposed to be about memory, but there are usually only about 2 different themes. normally, there would have been two articles relating to memory, and maybe another large unrelating article, and a shorter one…
One of my first memories is at a daycare center and it was at somebody’s house who lived near some woods. She told us not to go near the woods because there were wolves there. I was always terrified to go to sleep at nap time because I was afraid of the wolves!!
hmm…the memory article…maybe we can’t remember our early childhood because the “pruning” the brain undergoes at about age four cuts out those memories…just a thought…

yay for swing kids! i loved the movie (Swing Kids) also. so yeah, that was my favourite article.
its very strange. i can remember stuff from when i was 2 incredibly clearly . my very first memory…will top everyone elses on a scale of weirdness. it was a few days before my 3rd birthday, + i was running around the house. i went to the bathroom + got a drink of water. then i ran down to the kitchen, and i still hadnt swallowed it. i was just standing there, + i completely forgot how to swallow- i know its sad, but im not kidding here! so after standing there for about a minute, my dad was like “swallow it already!” i must have been actually thinking about swallowing it, but then i kept associating it w/ a choking feeling, so maybe i remembered how, but was just afraid to. finally, i pretty much chickened out + spit the water all over the carpet. + my dad was like “NO DONT SPIT IT OUT!” then he stomped away- our old house had relly creaky floors, so i relly remember the stomping- + got a rag to clean it up
yeah, i was a stupid kid all right. still am
ok heres my 2nd memory:
a few days after that^^, i went to my grandmas. i remember running around her living room, probably talking with 42 alter egos or something, + then i saw my aunt + grandma getting out lots of colorful party stuff. i was actually curious enough to talk (to a living breathing person that is, + that didnt happen very often…), so i was like “is there going to be a party?” they both laughed + were like “theres going to be a birthday party!” then, no kidding, i got relly excited + said “oh oh whos birthday is it?” + of course they were like “its yours silly!” + then i felt bad for some reason .
…finally, i said “how old am i?” + they said ” your 3 years old!”
i just thought it was funny that i actually remembered being embarrassed
hehe i was a royal terror in preskool.
i got kicked out of the local christian preskool, so my parents had to drive me to this other one 30 miles away just to get rid of me 3 days a week…

I rememberwhen I was four, and I was really starting to think. Like, one day, it just occured to me that I was seeing from one perspective, and I wasn’t looking through the eyes of the people I was looking at, but I was looking from sometihng else. Obviously I had never looked in a mirror before.
It’s the weirdest memory ever.

Hi Moocow. All muse bloggers, please excuse my raving at Otzi, she has been thoroughly reprimanded. *Waves at friend sitting five feet away*HI MOOCOW!! School is awful, I am sick, and if I have to sit through one more of our class’s rendition of Grease, I am going to hang myself from the ceiling. I have been hearing five girls in my class, every day at lunch, singing off key and badly, ‘you’re the one that I want’ from Grease. It is so annoying. It is exactly why I hate that movie. My cats could sing Grease better than THAT group of people.

Hey, I’m the most crazed of them all, I accually took the time to analyze that Pwt is female (and a crossdresser. I have came to this counclustion because, really, would there be a homosexual character in a kids magazine?)
Would there be a cross dresser either? I think this may be my first memory: I was at some sort of picnic or something and while my parents were preoccupied, I ran off into the woods and got lost. I don’t remember being scared, I just remeber that someone found me and wanted to take me back, but I didn’t want to becuase I was pig headed and didn’t want to admit that I was lost, I suppose. Or something like that. Of course they took me back anyway and I am forever endebted to them, whoever they may be. I think my memory is mixing with what my mother has told me, since she’s recollected that event about a thousand times. Now I feel bad for making her worry.
