I love school, but a break is almost always nice. I’m on spring holiday break now. I had a day off very soon after we started school. I hated that

I have no school tomorrow because of Good Friday. Actually, they aren’t a religious school, so really I get it off because “so many kids go away for Easter that we gave you this Friday off because we are nice”. Or something like that.
Y’know, if today was tommorow, and tomorrow was the thirteenth like today is, then it would be Friday the Thirteenth on a Good Friday. Ha ha!

I’m sure it happens
We had Friday the Thirteenth in January, and we’ve got another one coming up in October.

We have Thursday, Friday, and Monday off for Easter/Passover break

We have friday off but there was hardly anybody in skool today cuz most of those who weren’t off celebrating passover were sick *coughcough* lol. Quite thinned out today. Band was the worst, cuz there was full orchestra today too so most of the seniors and some juniors were gone (on top of those gone already, making for a grand total of 0 1st trumpets, all the seconds, and 4 thirds/fourths. It was interesting.)
I hate skool. Deeply and passionately. It’s not that i don’t enjoy learning things, but the system is SO messed and everybody ends up bored and nobody has any fun unless we slack off cuz the teachers don’t want to be teaching either and so, in the words of our Beloved Teer, I “fly by the seat of my pants”. Except in lamuth. But she’s evil as well. History’s the most fun. Featherstone’s good. But i’m a slacker in that too, it’s so easy. Ryan (geometry) is easy but puts me to sleep (blahblahbasketballblahblahohyeahlet’sdosomemath…okthat’senoughblahblahfootball…) Pautsch (lat.) is evil and incompetent as already mentioned, although she seems to like me for some reason. V. boring class, but great subject anyway. Actually i spend most of the class looking up weird mottos and such…
Fourth quarter starting now! I got a 3.39 (GPA). No honor roll for me *sob* lol jk Next quarter though me gets my 3.5 yah? Yah.

What does 3.39 mean in the ABCDF scale?

I hate school. It’s the biggest WOMBAT since, oh, I don’t know, colonization. The teachers are either overzealous Christians or slackoffs, the PE is more screwed than a carpenter’s toolbox, and the classes are either larrfably easy or devilishly difficult.
Teacher: Can you answer?
Me: “Yes I can-but what would be the answer to the ANSWER MAN?” *Jerry Garcia imitation*
Jack: Wow.
David: Like, wow.
Annie: Where’s that from?
Me: The Grateful Dead. Shee, you guys are so unhip it’s a wonder your bums don’t fall off.
Jack: What?!?!
David: Like, what?!?!
Jack: No, I mean, what?
David: Yeah. Like, what?!?!
Me: *loses control and starts laughing hysterically* Ha!
*FORTY HOURS LATER*
Me: *stops laughing hysterically* That was funny.
Jack: You laugh like a gerbil.
Me: Do gerbils even laugh?

5- didn’t that happen, like last year? no, that was the fri. before good fri. never mind.
9- no idea. my report card said that i have a 4.06GPA, but that can’t be right….but my friends said that theirs were either ridiculously high or depressingly low. bleah, skool.
for easter break [they do call it that; its a catholic school] we have thurs[today] off, fri., & all next week off.
i don’t like school.

Me off from school know. School might as well not happen. I want to live in the forest and not have to work at all; EVER! I guess I’m lazy.
YAY. or acctually, yay! I went swimming two days ago. It wasn’t too cold. In my backyard, there’s a lot of sun. HAHA, I bet you guys in the north east NEVER get to swim. Well, I guess that’s okay, you don’t really need too. Here in arizona, I’d die without water. Swimming.
But that has nothing to do with skool, so acctualy, I have to write something else. I had a test today. And I had to run a mile in PE. I’m not that fast a runner. Not out of shape, but not fast (for endurence.) I got 10:25. I know someone who got like 6:23. I envy her.
Oh well. Sigh. Another weekend, spent doing nothing. At least, I hope it will be that way.
Hate school!!!!!!

You’re lucky if you get a break; I go to a Christian school and I have more homework now than usual even though it’s Easter weekend! I guess it’s understandable, though. My school goes three days a week and assigns enough homework to keep me busy all day on Monday and Friday, so I wouldn’t get a break for Good Friday anyway. It’s nice not to have to get up at six AM every morning, but it’s kind of frustrating not to have as many breaks as most schools. We get Christmas Break, Thanksgiving Break, Spring Break, and that’s about it.
However, it’s nice not to be bored – school is a LOT of work but I am learning a lot and, being a nerd/geek/generallyuncoolpersonwholikeslearningthings, I appreciate it. Just out of curiosity, does anyone else go to a school that teaches in the “classical education” style (Latin, Roman history, Logic, etc.)?
* do 10 outlines (practce for the AP lang test)
*5 essays (more practice. oh joy)
*finish 300 page book (@ least it’s a good book…)
*do yet another outline for ^^
*some physics homework; i forgot exactly what
*redo a report b/c im stupid
*study for spanish test; i hope it’s not on monday, but i think it is…why does life always hav to be like that?!
people in the northeast do swim. we’ve even had days when the temperature was over 37º. i don’t swim, though.

We get today (Thursday if you want to be specific), Friday, Monday, and Tuesday off for “Spring Break.” Come on, why can’t they just say Easter Break??? I mean seriously!
0

Because it’s Easter/Passover break. School is too easy. Next year, I’m going to high school and will be in their gifted programs. I hope it will be a bit more challenging.

because, probably, not eveyone celebrates Easter

Easter is a terrible holiday. I only get today (Friday) off. Which is good, as I have loads of work and Sat. and Sun. I have to go help my pater move his business. So there you have it.
The last funny thing that happened at school was me falling out of my chair in the middle of our lesson about the Haitian slave revolution. We had to make a kids’ book about it. That’s the problem with my SS class-it’s pro-Anglo-Saxon and we don’t go into depth on ANYTHING. Urgh.

Biased thing in the Muse (april) bout tests. It’s sickening. Text books are boring. They don’t describe what people look like. Have you ever fallen asleep while reading a textbook?

That’s why everybody should read Larry Gonick’s Cartoon History of the Universe. I’ve just finished book 3, from the rise of Islam to the day Columbus set sail. It’s brilliant!

Well, I’m going to back Hebrew School, which means having to confront the friend that betrayed me while I was sick. Can you believe some people. he told everbody the reason I was out was because I punched a teacher. NOT TRUE. My cousin told him off, though, and the whole class sent me get well cards.

My school is really really small- everybody knows EVERYBODY, and I mean like first graders know most of the high school seniors. And boring. And easy (except for math, which I got skipped up in).
Just remembered I wrote an essay about it like a week ago for English. Wait a sec…here it is.
54 full days a year. 1302 hours. 78,120 minutes. 4,687,200 seconds.
What’s all this time spent doing? It’s spent, for almost every American child, in school. With all this time there, school is bound to have an effect, whether positive or negative. So what it is it? Both.
There are obvious positive aspects of school. You get to see your friends everyday. You get to learn responsibility and respect. There are a lot more too. Then there’s education, which should be the best one. But is it always? No.
School is impersonal. It’s based off being impersonal, too—the same tests for everybody, the same work for everyone, the same advantages for everyone. It’s fair that way, supposedly. But is it really? Is it fair for the kid that could do work four years above what they’re being taught? The kid who’s only known English for a year? The kid who has trouble in math? The kid who has no time for homework, or this, or that?
Every single one of us is different. And our education should reflect that.
“But it is!†the teachers will be sure to say. “We have special classes for all the people you described!†Perhaps you do. But these classes are treated like aberrations. They don’t fit into the schools master plan. For most teachers, it would be better if they just went away.
They can’t just go away though. No matter how much you try to squash people down, they will always pop up again. That’s a bad thing for the squash method, but it could also be a great opportunity for a new method.
What is this new method? Personalization. Letting the schooling be different for each and every child. In reading we recently studied learning styles. These are styles that determine how we learn best. It turns out that we all have different ones. The schools should try to incorporate these into lessons. You want people to learn, right? So teach how they want.
I understand this would take too much money and too much time. Here’s an idea that might help: let the students choose how they want to study. By 6th or 7th grade, everybody knows what would be interesting for him or her. Yes, the teachers can guide them and help them find new things to study.
Maybe if school were to be taught this way all the time would be put to a better use.
Sorry for the annoying longness….

Sounds a lot like the New Years essay i’ve been working on since I was 10. Still haven’t gotten the mood right….

Bravo! Excellent essay,Ven! I agree with you. I like to learn, but school takes up a lot of time every day, and homework takes up all the rest of it. If you’re not enjoying it, it’s time wasted.
In response to post 23: Yes, modern textbooks have gotten very boring. I never can finish my Biology reading assignments – the writing is too dull to keep my attention. And there are three whole chapters, since this is a book taught in a private Christian school, on why evolution is wrong. Chapter one: Why Evolution is mistaken. Chapter two: Why evolution cannot possibly work. Chapter three: Why evolution is not scientific. Okay, geesh! The writer really, really dislikes evolution. I get it. There’s no need to keep repeating it for about a hundred pages!
Fortunately, there are some classes, like Roman history, where my school uses older sources instead of modern textbooks. This year for Roman history I’m reading “Caesar and Christ” by Will Durant. I didn’t expect it to be entertaining, but it’s actually enjoyable. And as for censorship and political correctness…there is none! There’s also the option of reading the text itself, like the class that reads the Iliad and the Odyssey themselves instead of other books outlining the stories. It’s much more interesting that way.

30- brilliant essay! positively crisp!
i hate outlining anything. i just don’t learn that way. i can seriously read the selection the night before and ace the test.

Our romeo+juliet we’re reading is in a textbook. Tis “edited”. Ugh. Boo political correctness and anti-bias peoples!
Textbooks are SOOOO boring. Meh. Especially history. History rox, but the books are Dull, Dull, Dull.

10- wombats rule all!… or is that just some acronym i dont understand?
13- I went swimming in my pool for the first time this season yesterday! It was still pretty cold, but I enjoyed it. I know what you mean about swimming- during the summertime when im not away a practically live in the pool.
I hate school. My school teaches to the lowest common denominator. Why isn’t there a class called Thought? If you can think well, you can do anything else well. It’s a completely neglected skill.
30- Nice essay! Good ideas.
I just got glasses+contacts! I can seeee!!! No more squinting at the bored and copying my freinds’ notes…

I had my spring break way back in march some time, so it make sense to call it that and not easter/passover break.
I like passover. I went to a Seder last night. I’m not even Jewish.

in eighth grade, we read a version of romeo&juliet that had it in the original olde english, but had footnotes that translated it into ghetto-talk. it was scary.

Yerah, you wouldn’;t love Passover if you were jewish. No bread, to remember that our anscestors had no bread. But hey,if God didn’t let us out of Eygpt, I would be hauling bricks right now.

ah…can nvr get enough of skool now, can we?
my skools musik program is its crowning glory. a lot of ppl here are absolutely obsessed w/ musik, + im no exception. we hav band + orchestera, + then we hav 6 choirs- they hav weird names, so ill just refer to them by their abbreviations.
CC: for sophmores/anyone
BC: junior girls (because there are so many girls + so very little guys)
CE: seniors
the 3 smallish ones (one must audition for them)
VM: for girls who can sing quite well
MN: for guys who can sing quite well
CAs: for girls + guys who can sing…very well
as some of you hav seen, ive been bantering on about how auditions went. yes. i is very hopeful right now…

I’ve read some books and seen some movies about people going to catholic boarding schools. My Shakespeare coach went to a catholic school. She told/tells us lots of stories about her ‘experiences’. I put ‘experiences’ in ‘s because she got into some big knots with the nuns there. She hated her shool.

Catholic schools scare me, for some reason. I have nothing against Catholics, except when they try to convert me. It’s annoying, embarrassing, and humiliating.

i went to a catholic skool for 3 yrs. but im not catholic. isnt that odd? my parents “liked the atmosphere” there. mrahr to that.
the principal hated me b/c i wasnt catholic. yes, i relly think she did. like, the 8th graders were always allowed to make the skool yearbook @ the end of the year, but when i started 8th grade, (ok, side note: it was a relly small skool, + i was the only 8th grader that year) she decides to make a student council to take care of the whole thing-fortunately, my friends (who were all 1 year younger + catholic) ended up being in it, so they listened to my ideas.

Catholic schools scare me, too, mainly because they teach anti-evolution.

look what my lang. arts teacher is making us do( its called the great mail race. ICK!)
April 16, 2006
Dear 6th Grade Students:
Hi, my name is Zoë. I am 11 years old and my birthday is April 27. I am a US citizen, and a New Zealand citizen. In about 2 years, my family plans to move to New Zealand, since my dad grew up there. I am a skier, a cross-country runner and a horseback rider. I play 2 instruments, the trumpet and the baritone. My favorite colors are hot pink and purple. (Just not together) I live in NJ with my sister, Kiri, my mom and dad, our puppy, Mayhem, and our cat, Kali.
I go to school at RFIS. RFIS is a really good school, built in 1862, making it 144 years old! RFIS is made up of about 900 students in grades 5 and 6. Our school’s mascot is the husky, and our colors are blue and silver. RFIS has a lot to offer us including clubs such as: drama club, photography club, and guitar club, we have 4 computer labs, all with different types of computers (dells, apple laptops, and regular apples), and we are one of the few school in NJ who has their own guitars, therefore, we are able to learn how to play guitars properly. RFIS is a really friendly place, and a great place to be in!
The town I live in, is a large town. It is very full of people and house- so full that that they have had to build another school! Even though it is so densely populated, the out skirts of town are very rural- my family lives on a 73-acre farm! My town is very historical also. The Delaware River, and the spot where George Washington crossed it, is only about a 10-minute drive from my town. We also are very conveniently located; it is 1 hour away from the ski resort, and 1 hour away from the beach.
I hope you will join the great mail race and that you will write back.
Sincerely,
Zoë lame huh?>

One more thing about school: When I was in fourth grade, and learning multiplication, we had to do problems like 9999 times 1, 9999 times 2, 9999 times 3, etc. Bored with the whole process, I decide to do them 1000 times 1 minus 1, 1000 times 2 minus 2, etc. Much less tedious. And I got sent to the principals office and had to call my parents and tell them I was “disrupting the class”. That basically summarizes my experiences for school.

(62) That’s completely ridiculous.

The other day, in Spanish class, this one boy was talking to a friend, and told him, “You know, I cheated on the math test, and I didn’t even pass!”
We’ve got bright kids at my school, all right.
0
0
62- i did something similar: i could do long division in my head and just wrote down the answer. they thought i cheated. also, i didn’t cross out numbers in addition or carry over numbers…
0
0
or do you cross out numbers in subtraction? i did it in my head and got it right anyway…

THAT IS A REALLY BIG SCHOOL, Y4HPB!!!!!!!
Our school has Kindergarten – 8th grade, and we have 260 students!
0

My school has 6-8 grade and 500 students. And its tiny compared to \my old school. 5-8, 1500 students.
0

Hmm, compaired to all of you, I go to a huge school- 9-12, 2300 students, I believe.
0
0
my teachers in elem skool used to mark me down in math class b/c i nvr “showed my work”…the stuff was so easy that i didnt relly need to work anything out on paper…mrahr to them…
0

The local high school is about that size, Lizzie.
0
0
erm… my skool… 2 grades, 3 teams, 5 classes, 30 kids… do the multiplication… 900 students.
0
0
70- EXACTLY!
and i got points off once for doing too much work. weird, i know.
my school is pretty small. i doubt there are even 400 students.
publick school is HUGE. about 1000 students per grade. minimum, i’d say. probably 1000 students in each graduating class. recently enlarged by the mass addition of hispanic people. half of the city in which it is located speaks espanol.
my olde school only had about 150-200 students…i had, um, 11 in my one historie class…
0
0
(62 and 64) That’s stupid and ridiculous!
(65) You can do things in your head? Wow! I’m terrible and slow at that stuff, or just math in general.
0
0
My school is like the smallest ever… we have 188 kids in THREE GRADES… so everybody knows everything about everybody. I could give you the middle names of about 1/2 the people in my grade, and name everybody in 8th grade, along with how they fit in and who they’re “going out” with. It’s just what you have to know to survive…

Does anyone have a textbook you like? In any subject? I seem to remember one or two good ones in my eleventy-nine hundred years of school.
As far as history goes, I agree with whoever said the subject is fascinating but the textbooks are boring. I wish I knew why that is! If anyone needs any recommendations of good books on history, just post a request here saying what time period and place you’re interesting in, and I’ll see what I can come up with.
0
0
Just a minute ago i was reccomending your books to my mom, mr gonick!
i like my literature text, mostly because of the stories. I have sometimes been mildly interested by history texts, but only because i like history. my fave time periods are rev. war, WWII, the dark ages, and the rennasaunce, which has an ‘i’ in it somewhere, i know.
0
0
Colonial America? I already read a crappy Ben Franklin biography, but I want to know more than just “Willam Penn was a jerk”.
0
0
Nope. None. Now if the cartoon histories counted as textbooks that would be different…
hoom i should totally suggest that to featherstone. He’s a frood, maybe he’d do it. But i doubt it, seeing as it’s his first year teaching and all. Ho hum.
My skool is pretty small. But then, the place i live in is about 2.5 square miles…
0
0
Well, in 5th grade we had a good text book for history. Except that it wasnt really a textbook- it was a series of books that the teacher used, because the official one that the school provided was so boring.
The series was called “A History of Us” by Joy Hakim.
0
0
oh yeah, those were pretty darn good. my 7th grade teacher scanned them and we did readings and stuff.
0
0
So now I still have to do one illustration, 2 process journals, and some flash cards. But the night is still young!
0
0
I think Joy Hakim wrote a single book on the history of the US as well as the series that I mentioned. I haven’t heard as many good things about that one, so it’s possible Pheobe was talking about that one.
I suppose now that I’m a more critical reader, I could take another look at them.
0
0
More recently, Ms. Hakim wrote a science book called The Story of Science: Aristotle Leads the Way, published by Smithsonian Books. It’s colorful and makes some points about science that I haven’t seen in any other kid-oriented book.
0
0
i have only just now located my english binder, but the night is still young! and i am relived of my flashcard-making duties by the absense of my civics binder, which i left at skool. but i will still probably sill run around looking for it because i don’t want to fail civics.

SNB and Em (80, 81),
Interesting. ‘Way back in the very first thread, Phoebe said that that was her least favorite book.
Where is Phoebe, anyway? It’s been ages since I’ve seen her around here. March 19, to be precise.

(75) Ven – our school is smaller!!! We have 260 students in NINE GRADES, and in the middle school (Grades 6, 7, and 8) we have about 80 students!

flash cards are wonderful aids for memorization.

My history book makes me sleepy tooo and our language Arts teacher actually said the Literature books were useless. We never use them anymore. And my math book is horrible at explaining; all that math garble.
Is anyone ding standardized testing right now? I think its dreadful what with 2 weeks of sitting there in the morning. Sitting, sitting, sittng.
36- I ‘d just like to say that sadly, you can’t teach someone common sense… and math is pretty hard to understand without a teacher.
62- Lovely. Just lovely.
Overall, skool is Ok I guess…. It just gets old after awhile. I am so ready for the last day of school (May 3)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skooooooool. I know this should go on the HW help thread, but I want to post it here to.
I need to come up with a really clever name for and advertising agency and a slogan to go with it. I was thinking an acronym would be good. Ya know, like SPEND or something, and then have it stand for something clever. I’ve been writing down words and I cant think of a really good one. Help?

Your advertising agency might be headed by Bud Gett (Budget) and-oh! I know!
The Kappitahlizm, Afflooent, and Kummershal agency. Capitalism, Affluent, and Commercial, in other words. How about that? Like Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe. Hm?

THINK OF ALL THE GIRLS IN AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN AND INDIA AND SOME PLACES IN AFRICA WHO WOULD GIVE THIER FINGERS TO GO TO SCHOOL. THIS THREAD IS DISRESPECTFUL TOWARDS THEM.

We decided on Sales4Sale. Because by using us as your advertising company, you get sales, so in a sense we sell you sales…. get it?
OK, it probably made no sense. Just ignore all that.

Good point, Otzi.
But one thing I’ve discovered this year.
No matter how much you tell yourself that your fortunate to have what you do, it doesnt make you feel any better. It’s good to remember that you are very fortunate… but everyone needs to complain sometimes.

Why is this thread disrespectful. I know that school is important, and that we are lucky. But that doesn’t mean we HAVE to like it. I personally don’t like group projects, which SS does a lot, and I would rather read. However, I know what you mean. We Are one of teh luckiest countries in the world. And us kids don’t care. Us on muse blog do, but others don’t. We just don’t like school.
Did I sound to boring? probably.

it’s because the school system is geared toward the needs of the least intelligent person in the classroom. it’s very annoying.
i also despise group projects. i usually ende up doing the majority of the work. but i never decline to inform the teacher of this. i have absolutely no problem with people hating me because they recieved the grade they deserved for the work they did. the drama might annoy me, but i shall continue to expose freeloaders and cheaters!

Otzi, baby, we’re ranting about the bureaucracy, wastefulness, and whitebread-osity shown by the adults and authorities in the school system, NOT about school itself. Which is painfully necessary.
Why does everyone insist on beating Africa over my cranium?

What bugs me is the fact that schools have all the resources and (potential) brains to make a good school system but theyre so freakin blind they fail at it completely.
I agree with SM. Schools teach to the lowest level of standard. It doesnt seem to occur to them that the main reason a lot of kids do so badly is because they have everything spoon fed to them and there fore have no insentive to try. It’s a vicious circle; the easier they make it, the less hard kids try, the worse they do, which make schools think that things need to be easier.
Heaven forbid we try and let them swim without floaties.

On the subject of school: about last week I decided I wanted to attend boarding school, namely one called Deerfield Academy. Since this has about the same acception rate as MIT (my favorite college and future alma mater…well hopefully), I decided I should study study 1 1/2 hours a day, I started today. Haha I’m crazy… but I’m setting a goal and going for it. My FCS teacher would be proud.
Just some random info on Ven’s life.

Haha. We had the pricible for english today and he spent the whole time trying to tell us some inspiring story that would enlighten us and teach us a lesson for high school next year. It was a dumb story… I hate those stories and expressions that every one thinks are really wise and profound but are actually just mindless sugar coated drivel.
I’m (hopefully) gonna do a speech for promotion. I’m trying to figure out what to say.

I want to run for president.
If you want a job done right, you have to do it yourself.
Other than that, I want to go to law school, and be the lawyer prez, so I can understand what I sign into law. I will reveal my true identity when I am thirtysomething & running 4 office. hold your breath.
I actually hope i am NOT the first female prez. I want a woman to be elected LONG before I can run.

Greetings from Puerto Rico! Id like to say I like my school. It’s a laboratory school (yes, we are the guinea pigs of the University reasearchers)and even though my eyes are about to fall off my head from all the homework I’ve been doing, its still cool. ¡Adiós y que tengan un buen dÃa!

Hi, moustache girl! You’re so lucky. I’m still on spring break…then we have about 2 months left of school…
I wanted to either go to a boarding school or be homeschooled….but, no, I’m stuck in Catholic school now, where the teachers can relate the most hardcore science to God…grr…

We’re a labratory school, too! It is cool, though. Once, there was this strep-throat study, where they would stick those swab things down your throat every week, and if you had strep, they would give you medicine for it (free!)
My sister and I were carriers, so we always had it (but didn’t have any symptoms) so we were pretty much always on amoxicillin. But I think that’s bad, because then there can be strains of bacteria that will become resistant to the antibiotics.

42 – Wow, our schools have almost the exact same number of people!
60 – Ditto! My school has uniforms and I hate them. They’re uncomfortable so they don’t help me concentrate. They’re not equalizers because kids still buy designer uniforms and think they’re better than other kids with cheap uniforms. And I don’t care what the school says, sure there are dress codes for work places, but no work place I know of makes you wear a ridiculous white blouse tucked into a scratchy navy skirt every single day!!! I mean, a dress code is okay, but mine is way too strict. They even regulate our socks and hair accessories (if a girl wears a pink barette, she gets in trouble for it). Ugh!
Okay, end of rant. Hi, Mustache Girl! You are indeed lucky to be out so early. I get out May 26th. I have to admit there are some cool things about my school despite its uniforms. This year the administration decided to attempt to establish four “houses”, just like in Harry Potter. There’s House of Augustine (that’s the one I’m in), House of George, House of Peter, and House of Ignatius. We compete in athletic and academic games all year. I don’t know what happens at the end of the year yet. Go Augustine!
My school is ridiculously strict, though. For example, last year one boy jumped out a window for a fire drill (actually, someone else held him out the window by his ankles and then let go, but everyone said he jumped). He left school for a day and then came back with a warning but no detention or anything. Later that year another boy got his ear pierced and the administration went ballistic. They threatened to expel the boy if he didn’t take out his earring and argued with him and his parents about it for weeks. Apparently my school cares more about appearance than personal safety, judging from the reactions each boy got. Isn’t that insane?

I think it’s stupid that if you play hookie/miss school, you’re suspended for it, and then you spend MORE time out of school!

skool. it sux. theyre giving us an unrealistic amount of homework now to prepare us for all the standardized tests coming up, and there literally arent enough hours in the day for me to do all of it, so im failing…hopefully only 2 classes right now. i dont know what to do. then ppl say that its nothing compared to the workload of someone in college. however, everytime i tell this to someone in college, they just laugh + tell me what high skool teachers say is bs. skool takes the fun out of everything

eeees baaad
they need a anew system. i am SO tired of not learning anything. noting stimulating! exciting! CHALLENGING!!!! everything is so tiringly easy T_T
i hate skool.
I love school
I love school, but a break is almost always nice. I’m on spring holiday break now. I had a day off very soon after we started school. I hated that
School is too easy.
4- agreed!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone else go to a school that teaches in the “classical education” style (Latin, Roman history, Logic, etc.)?
skool is trying to kill me! *screams +runs in circles*
this weekend i hav to:
* do 10 outlines (practce for the AP lang test)
*5 essays (more practice. oh joy)
*finish 300 page book (@ least it’s a good book…)
*do yet another outline for ^^
*some physics homework; i forgot exactly what
*redo a report b/c im stupid
*study for spanish test; i hope it’s not on monday, but i think it is…why does life always hav to be like that?!
oh yeah…im not anarchy pie anymore.
king george! you’re back! yay‼ https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=276 go to the pie war. become a neutral! yay!
people in the northeast do swim. we’ve even had days when the temperature was over 37º. i don’t swim, though.
We get today (Thursday if you want to be specific), Friday, Monday, and Tuesday off for “Spring Break.” Come on, why can’t they just say Easter Break??? I mean seriously!
Urgh.
they have to be politically correct.
Biased thing in the Muse (april) bout tests. It’s sickening. Text books are boring. They don’t describe what people look like. Have you ever fallen asleep while reading a textbook?
Almost…newer textbooks aren’t so bad, but our history textbooks last year…AHHHHHH
That’s why everybody should read Larry Gonick’s Cartoon History of the Universe. I’ve just finished book 3, from the rise of Islam to the day Columbus set sail. It’s brilliant!
skool takes up way 2 much time
it should Die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Die Die Die Die Die Die Die Die Die
23-I always do. You wake up the next morning with “Moctezuma was nothing to the great modernized artillery and superior culture of the Spanish” on your left cheek backwards, or some such thing. And drool on the pages-that’s always frightfully hard to explain!
I read my entire social studies (Fancy name for below high school history) texbook in one day. I was sick in bed….
I went to a Seder and I am jewish
CE: seniors
the 3 smallish ones (one must audition for them)
VM: for girls who can sing quite well
MN: for guys who can sing quite well
CAs: for girls + guys who can sing…very well
as some of you hav seen, ive been bantering on about how auditions went. yes. i is very hopeful right now…
Im so excited… only 29 days of skool left (not including weekends)!!
I can smell the freedom
Our school is small, too. We have K-8, and there are about 260 students!
i dont go to skool!! *does a no-skool dance*
hahaha im homeschooled…
I got a 99.3/100 on my book report!!!!!!!!:grin::grin:
last year I got a 95.0!!!!!!!!!!!
that means that this year I got 4.3 points more than I had last year!!!!!!!!!!:smile::grin::smile::grin:;
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my skool is overpopulated by penguins [read as: nuns]. i don’t think they like me. they’re creepy. except for the math-penguin. she’s cool.
SM
what?
How come you are homeschooled, pie_addict? What’s it like? My parents were so fed up with the schools here they considered homeschooling me for high school, but didnt want to so they dropped the idea.
well, isn’t that nice…
This is confusing.
36, in reference to the comment about #10-A WOMBAT is a Waste Of Money, Brains, And Time. A DIRP is a Dum-dum In a Responsible Position. There you hav it.
The rest of my post got zapped, I think.
I was asking if you go to catholic school
yes, i do. roman catholic, to be specific.
I was going to go to jewish school if I didn’tneed OT and PT, the school isn’t able to provide.
Ahh. Thank you for clarifying, Queenie.
Catholic schools scare me, too, mainly because they teach anti-evolution.
plaid kilts = eville.
oxford blouses also= eville.
bleah. no time to rant more…..will be back in a couple hours…..
look what my lang. arts teacher is making us do( its called the great mail race.
Sincerely,
Zoë
lame huh?>
62- i did something similar: i could do long division in my head and just wrote down the answer. they thought i cheated. also, i didn’t cross out numbers in addition or carry over numbers…
or do you cross out numbers in subtraction? i did it in my head and got it right anyway…
THAT IS A REALLY BIG SCHOOL, Y4HPB!!!!!!!
Our school has Kindergarten – 8th grade, and we have 260 students!
My school has 6-8 grade and 500 students. And its tiny compared to \my old school. 5-8, 1500 students.
Hmm, compaired to all of you, I go to a huge school- 9-12, 2300 students, I believe.
my teachers in elem skool used to mark me down in math class b/c i nvr “showed my work”…the stuff was so easy that i didnt relly need to work anything out on paper…mrahr to them…
The local high school is about that size, Lizzie.
erm… my skool… 2 grades, 3 teams, 5 classes, 30 kids… do the multiplication… 900 students.
(62 and 64) That’s stupid and ridiculous!
(65) You can do things in your head? Wow! I’m terrible and slow at that stuff, or just math in general.
Colonial America? I already read a crappy Ben Franklin biography, but I want to know more than just “Willam Penn was a jerk”.
Nope.
Well, in 5th grade we had a good text book for history. Except that it wasnt really a textbook- it was a series of books that the teacher used, because the official one that the school provided was so boring.
The series was called “A History of Us” by Joy Hakim.
oh yeah, those were pretty darn good. my 7th grade teacher scanned them and we did readings and stuff.
So now I still have to do one illustration, 2 process journals, and some flash cards. But the night is still young!
I think Joy Hakim wrote a single book on the history of the US as well as the series that I mentioned. I haven’t heard as many good things about that one, so it’s possible Pheobe was talking about that one.
I suppose now that I’m a more critical reader, I could take another look at them.
More recently, Ms. Hakim wrote a science book called The Story of Science: Aristotle Leads the Way, published by Smithsonian Books. It’s colorful and makes some points about science that I haven’t seen in any other kid-oriented book.
i have only just now located my english binder, but the night is still young! and i am relived of my flashcard-making duties by the absense of my civics binder, which i left at skool. but i will still probably sill run around looking for it because i don’t want to fail civics.
64- i know someone who did that on an english test…idiots…
flash cards are wonderful aids for memorization.
I ♥ flash cards!
Em- what state do you live in?
your skool sounds suspiciously like mine…
Our testbooks are boring because the bias committee censors them, remember. The civil war especially….
VA! yay for VA! yay for kokoninno county public skools! yay for the crappy administration! yay for pro-social behaviors! yay for no name calling week!
so? do you go to my skool?
nah, you dont, if your mascot is a husky.
nope i live in NJ
my skool has 3 teams 2 grades 5 classes and about 900 students too
im dissapointed:cry:- that wood hav been so cool if you and i were in the same skool- and if i knew u…
the husky is such a lame mascot…
whats yours?
darn it i wanted 2 see if i could have a smiley in my name i guess not…
ok im happy with name
dont want the CHOKLIT in my name
But choklit is yummerliscious! I’ve been eating all mine easter choklit. HYYYYYYYYPER! Wheeeee!
OMGOMGOMGOMG I beat andy on the science test!!!! OMG that is unheard of. Amazing. Incredible. Makes me happy. I was like “wow, do you feel this smart like all the time?” Twas incredible.
But i just completely failed the pop quiz in history, because being the complete idiot that i am i read the wrong section. But we spent the whole class talking about diff types of nukes, it was pretty fun.
I think my name is too long. But I like all of it!
my old skool had 8 grades, + 90 students. mow i go to a 10-12 grades high skool w/ 1500 ppl
Help?
panthahs! and ebeth’s is lions. yes, im flaunting my evil stalking powers.
SPEND….only one vowel….might be a bit hard…..
Skool is cool!
I know, stupid rhyme, but I laughed..
(108) *closes large mouth* *looks down at fingers*
What’s melpomene mean? (That sounded a little redundant….)
Are you chrokee?
melpomene is the muse of tradgedy!
she’s the greek muse of tragedy
If you’re at boarding school, how can you get to Museblog?
True, I would have less time, but they have Wi-fi.
SCHOOL IS …COOL.

LUNCh is cool! Baskettball. And badmitton. And science, and math, and everything except ss. Not that I don’t like social studies, but American history is so BORING!!! I want ROMAN stuff. We should have a careers thread. I want to be a Roman or mideival historian/archeologist. On roman or midieval war and castles.
Hello Copper. I like your stick people.
MY LACROSSE TEAM IS UNDEFEATED

ConGRATUlations Otzi!
Thank you.
YES CARREERS THREAD>>>>>> CAN YOU HEAR ME, ROBERT AND ROSEANNE????????????
I want to run for president.
If you want a job done right, you have to do it yourself.
Other than that, I want to go to law school, and be the lawyer prez, so I can understand what I sign into law. I will reveal my true identity when I am thirtysomething & running 4 office. hold your breath.
I actually hope i am NOT the first female prez. I want a woman to be elected LONG before I can run.
we have exactly 30 days left in skool here, and we’re finised w/ testing. i think i go to lagoon this year, but im not sure. i might have missed to much skool. i was sick a lot first quarter… and i didn’t get honor roll last quarter…. who knows. i hope i go. *crosses fingers* cause i want to get on colossus, spider, screamer, and cliffhanger, and that one white roller coaster, the one made out of wood, w/out having to pay… i love roller coasters… and we’re done testing! 8D
-moustache girl
ps. I only have about three weeks of school left, Mwahahahah(pointing finger at your nose)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : {P
Hi, moustache girl. Have a nice day to you too. With your summer vacation startng in just three weeks, you are surely the envy of Musers everywhere.
Hi, moustache girl! You’re so lucky. I’m still on spring break…then we have about 2 months left of school…
I wanted to either go to a boarding school or be homeschooled….but, no, I’m stuck in Catholic school now, where the teachers can relate the most hardcore science to God…grr…
heh heh I forgot to change my name back…
We’re a labratory school, too!
I’m going to back to nebrew school tomarrow….
I shortend my name YAY!
135- My school is like that. And, if you are either on a winning sports team, a cheerleader, or a senior, you can get away with anything.
Oh, I was comment 60. haha. *pretends she knew that all the while*
Well, I’m going bsack to skool tomarrow. It feels like going into surgery….
skool. it sux. theyre giving us an unrealistic amount of homework now to prepare us for all the standardized tests coming up, and there literally arent enough hours in the day for me to do all of it, so im failing…hopefully only 2 classes right now. i dont know what to do. then ppl say that its nothing compared to the workload of someone in college. however, everytime i tell this to someone in college, they just laugh + tell me what high skool teachers say is bs. skool takes the fun out of everything
going into surgery is WAY worse.
I just got back from escuela. Not fun. I am so disoriented. This always happens after spring break.
Becuase of what I overheard in school today, I’m the best mood I ever was! *see name*
What did you overhear in skool today?
You can’t figure it out from the name? *hint, check out links for aincent greek muses*
School is the only place where I can find males my age that take me for who I am and take me seriously. The entire town I live in hates me, so i go to school out of town.
learning is one of my favorite things to do, but work is another thing entirely.
school needs to be taught in a more encouraging, engaging, interesing manner.
QUOTE: “Teacher: Can you answer?
” : END QUOTE
haha thats funny
im sick of being surrounded by stupid people
OH YEAH.
i forgot to brag about my average XD
i got a 98.67 for 3rd quater, but thats not because of being a booky person. im well rounded and definately not a nerd.
Agreed, Shyria. Schopol is ineffective. Its all about emorising. Once you pass the test, you gorget what you leanred.
school’s not that bad… you guys had VERSIONS of the Odyssey? we read the oddysey, the epic of gilgamesh and antony and cleopatra this year, plus some other random stuff. last year we read romeo and juliet.
there’s nothing wrong with being a nerd…
Today, ona science test, we were aked to come up with differnt diseases causd by viruses and I put “Bird Flu”
So, 149, Shriya, what’s wrong with being a nerd? And nerds _are_ well-rounded. It’s geeks who are the more focused, no-social-life ones.
eeees baaad
they need a anew system. i am SO tired of not learning anything. noting stimulating! exciting! CHALLENGING!!!! everything is so tiringly easy T_T
what does that have to being a nerd?
