Hah, a music thread. It appeared right after I blogged about it! WOW I love musik
I love music. All music (except for country), as long as it’s well done. Just about all music has an incredible beauty to it. Unfortunately, I have zero musical talent. Quite devestating.
Axa listens frequently/more often than not to the following singer/bands:
Asian Kung Fu Generation
No Regret Life
Utada Hikaru
Fiona Apple
Keane
Enya
T.M. Revolution
Ayumi Hamasaki
Coldplay
Yup that’s about it. I like the occaisonal Dylan or Beatles song too, but the above mentioned are what I listen to most.
In summary: Japanese and alternative-ish.
I compose music on Garage band, for you apple users! YAY, apple!
I like all types of music. Especially rock and pop-the symphony kind.
I don’t like rap-uugghhh. Does anyone here like rap?
Music. I love music. I’m in band, honor band, jazz band, I tak e piano lessons and learn clarinet. I like all types of music.
Right now though, I hate band with a passion. But it will pass.
one thing: Comfort Eagle is absolutely the most awesomest song on the face of this planet. Jem is the awesomest singer on the face of this planet. and LoTD is the awesomest dance music by far. ’nuff said.
I like the beatles.

I am INSANELY happy right now. I managed to get my greasy mits on 5 new Ajikan songs. Five. omg. I’m spazzing.
Although no one’s wondering they are:
Gekkou ( Moonlight)
Angou no Waltz ( Translates to something like Waltz’s code, or coded waltz…something like that )
Eien ni ( Eternity/Eternity is )
Uso to Wonderland (Lies and Wonderland)
World Apart
Kensuke siiingggggssss Uso to Wonderlan I’m so happy. ^^
I can listen to any type of music. I like country, which suprises many people, but really, the older stuff.
Rap is eh. Too much beat, but sometimes the lyrics can be very interesting, if only you’re willing to listen.
-floats off-

Marroon 5 is so cool
AVRIL LAVIGNE STINKS
i plat the baritone horn and the trumpet
I play the trumpet (the best instrument) and listen to “Weird Al” Yankovic. I don’t know what else to say, except that country music is the worst thing I have ever heard, and whoever mixed it and rap is a complete idiotic weirdo.
Gradster(1)
i like Weird Al. and Coldplay. but i do not like most rap and Marroon 5.
i also like:
CoF
TMBG
LP
No Doubt
Weezer

I would also like to add that Manson’s Personal Jesus song is bueno, but other than that, he’s over-rated. *gets killed by Mansonites*
I’ve been meaning to pick up Post[an album] by Bjork…does anyone have it, and is it good?
Dream On, by Aerosmith is a very good song, as are:
War, by Edwin Starr
Beer for My Horses, by Toby Keith [the funniest song ever]
The Clincher, by Chevelle
Breathe Today, by Flyleaf
Chop Suey, by SOAD [but most of their songs sound exactly the same]
Rubber Biscuit, by The Blues Brothers [prepare to be scared beyond all belief]
Remedy, by Seether
Tomorrow Never Knows, by the Beatles
Another Brick in the Wall, by Pink Floyd
Lithium, by Nivarna
and
Miss America, by Styx

I’m in love with his voice.
If you want to hear him, head on down to cirquedusoleil dot com

His voice is to die for.
How did that web adress get changed?
Sorry, that’s
[snip. Our anti-link policy in action. –Admin.]
not dot com.
Sorry.
I love it when GAPA writes in our posts, especially when they say [snip].com!! (It would be funny if it was actually a website! Actually, if you take the brackets out it is a real website. Let me post it and see what GAPA does…
snip.com

(22) I play bass clarinet and clarinet too! Well, actually I only just re-picked up clarinet recently so I’m pretty abd it but I like it a lot.
I LOVE Cake. I’m a little tired of them right now because I was listening to them so much, but I still love them.
I also like Coldplay, and Keane though not as much.
I like Jazz music.
The Styx Rock!
Bjork is cool, but she’s not exactly the kind of thing you want to listen to while you’re chillin at home relaxing.
The Beatles are great.
I also like calssical.
Rap is ishy. It has to be REALLY good in order for it to be good, if you get what I’m sayin. None of this generico popular stuff.
oh yeah
The one that goes “We don’t need no education, we don’t need no thought control. I like that one to.
Oh, and Journey! I love Journey!
Just a small town girl

I love music….lets see, right now I’m listening to a Liz Phair song that I can’t say the title of….3 words, last one is run for any Liz Phair fans…
oh! i found this great site where you can listen to the “We Didn’t Start the Fire” song! can I post it?
well, google
“keep it burning”+”We didn’t start the fire”
and click on the first one.
and there’s this other site with links to all of the lyrics. i wish i’d thought to google this song when we did the history project on it, it would have helped greatly.
Pixie Corpse is OBSESSED with My Chemichal Romance. Every time she opens her binder, she kisses a picture of Gerard.
i keep trying out for all these singing things, like select chorus and a solo and i never get them but i keep trying even though i cant sing until i get voice lessons this summer. and the girl who got the solo only got it because everyone loves her. except me, of course. . . but the music teachers do.
I hate rap. DIEDIEDIEDIEDIE!!!!!!!!!
I’m supposed to be typing something right now.
I like Wierd al,
Coldplay
Death cab for cutie (only Crooked teeth)
Bill cosby (though not music)
The Doors
Green day
And two songs from Autum to ashes. Strange band, but for somereason,? I like them.
Lists are boring, so sorry .
My president on t=my planet (Apericot) also likes the beatles. He made me type that.
I meant typing something school related.
i ♥ itunes. i cant be on a comp w/out listening to all my songs… ive got like a week’s worth… just another reason to hate windows, that they arent itunes compatable… *sigh* but ive got a mac! 8D
24- I adore Blue Man Group. You’re going to the concert? *seethes with jealousy*
32- I said it on the Singing! thread, and I’ll say it againe. I HATE MCR. [ok, so Mikey isn’t that bad looking, but, well, he loses because of his association with that “band”] I hope this doesn’t start another pie war….and I would also like to say that this Gerard Way character looks like a particularly manly woman. Yes, manly woman, not slightly girly man. *gets killed by MCR fanatics* Oh, and nothing against guys in makeup in general.
And I will occasionally listen to Esteban. OCCASIONALLY…really…

-I love “We Didn’t Start the Fire”! I have every lyric of that song memorized. Took me a while to figure out that Joel was listing events that happened in years in each verse. That was from memory. *beams*

MUSIK! OMIGOSH I JUST CAME BACK FROM OUR SPRING CONCERT! CREEPY!
some catching up to do:
#3: enya has an amazing voice
#4: rap musik is an oxymoron.
#11: yeah. shes such a wannabe
#14: evanescence is cool. my favourite song of theirs is going under…or my immortal…i like to walk around singing that one (which probably starts to annoy ppl after awhile)
#28: that song is neat
#32: WHO COULD BLAME HER? * ♥ starts thinking of gerard ♥ *
#38: wha…but how could anyone…
oh alright, jk. *puts down H-pie*
our spring concert was neat. we got to hear some of the ppl who were going to state solo + ensemble competition
favourite songs:
jetset: MCR (i copied this one onto my bedroom wall!)
to the end: ^^
desert song:^^
going under: evanescence
my immortal: ^^

has anyone ever heard of lacuna coil? i just heard that (^^) song yesterday. it was totally awesome. i guess theyre sort of an italian version of evanescence
Ok. I just bought “We Didn’t Start the Fire” and I printed out the lyrics to memorize. I love it! I’ve been singing the chorus nonstop.
Another song that it reminds me of
Ball of Confusion, The Temptations
1, 2… 1, 2, 3, 4, Ow!
Eddie: People moving out, people moving in. Why, because of the color of their skin.
Run, run, run but you sure can’t hide. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.
Vote for me and I’ll set you free. Rap on, brother, rap on.
Dennis: Well, the only person talking about love thy brother is the…(preacher.)
And it seems nobody’s interested in learning but the…(teacher.)
Segregation, determination, demonstration, integration, Aggravation, humiliation, obligation to our nation.
Ball of confusion. Oh yeah, that’s what the world is today. Woo, hey, hey.
Paul:
The sale of pills are at an all time high.
Young folks walking round with their heads in the sky.
The cities ablaze in the summer time.
And oh, the beat goes on.
Dennis:
Evolution, revolution, gun control, sound of soul.
Shooting rockets to the moon, kids growing up too soon.
Politicians say more taxes will solve everything.
Melvin:
And the band played on.
So, round and around and around we go.
Where the world’s headed, nobody knows.
[Instrumental]
Oh, great googalooga, can’t you hear me talking to you.
Just a ball of confusion.
Oh yeah, that’s what the world is today.
Woo, hey, hey.
Eddie:
Fear in the air, tension everywhere.
Unemployment rising fast, the Beatles new record’s a gas.
Dennis:
And the only safe place to live is on an Indian reservation.
Melvin:
And the band played on.
Eve of destruction, tax deduction, city inspectors, bill collectors,
Mod clothes in demand, population out of hand, suicide, too many bills,
Hippies moving to the hills. People all over the world are shouting, ‘End the war.’
Melvin:
And the band played on.
[Instrumental]
Great googalooga, can’t you hear me talking to you.
Sayin’… ball of confusion.
That’s what the world is today, hey, hey.
Let me hear ya, let me hear ya, let me hear ya.
Sayin’… ball of confusion.
That’s what the world is today, hey, hey.
Let me hear ya, let me hear ya, let me hear ya, let me hear ya, let me hear ya.
Sayin’… ball of confusion.
I LOVE coldplay. Especially clocks. I wont post the lyrics cause they’re not too interesting by themselves. But the music is AWSOME! It won song of the year award, or something like that.
I also don’t like, along wiht rap, R&B. almost same thing, so YUCKKCKCKCKCKCKCKC
Lyrics look alot like rap when they don’t have music.
Um, I guess that was pointless and obvious.
Rap is boring because
1) Ther’s no point
2) the “tune” in the background repeats alot (to much)
3) ther’s no point
4) No melody
5) the singers are annoying, too.
the singers? they don’t even sing
I also like the magic numbers, If you’ve heard of them
*crys*
It was a happy link! Well, I guess i asked for it. *is shamed*
…and i spelled cries wrong. how typical.
9-40 my computer has a donloading problem, so i burn all my CDs. live with it.
True R&B is good. But not that “rythym and gangsta” stuff they make now.
Actually, recent “musick” of any genre is horrible. It all sounds the same. I love olde stuff…
My mom’s always saying how here generation’s music was the best. I’m jealous. And she says we listen to music so much it’s not special anymore. Hmm, she may have a point
im listening to we didnt start the fire rite now. (i figured out if you have 2 pages of the internet on and one page is playing muzic, you can museblog with backruond muzic.
“We Didn’t Start the Fire” should become the background muzic
this should be a thread- choosing a background muzic. whatever turns up the most wins:grin:
54- I do that all the time. Now, I’m listening to Born in a Burial Gown. Yes, I am addicted to that song.
Nobody likes country music. How come nobody likes country music? Country music isn’t my pride and joy in life, but no one likes it. It is so very very sad. Aimee Mann is pretty good. She isn’t a country singer. What about riot grrl music, like that is like girl power too, so it correlates.
My favorite piece of music is Handel’s Water Music Suite, but I’m listening to a lot of classical guitar right now. And I can’t stand rap or rock music.
Handel’s Water Music is really good.
58- THF, do you like TSO? It’s rock/classical, but really good.
I like Handel’s Water Music Suite…I also like music that is popular in South Africa…it’s really cool.
61-Ditto!
40-You wreck me. I misheard SOOOOOOO much.
Does anyone like Tom Petty?
Sweet Melpomene, you’re capitalized!
Yeah, I like African music.
I play violin, and I’m working on:
Theme from Schindler’s List (no, I have not seen the movie)
Sarabande in G Minor (By Carl Bohm)
Concerto in G Minor (Vivaldi)
Kinda sad. They’re all minor.
If anyone else plays violin and wants to tell me something(anyone can, just please do),tell it to me. Please. I mean it. Anytime. Like, now. Well, I want to talk about something!(not that I’m not right now, but…….)
what’s TSO?
Hmm, quite honestly I don’t have much of a preference for any one kind of music — my tastes are pretty eclectic. Can’t say I’m fond of country or rap, though, but other than that I usually listen to just about anything. Lol, awhile ago I had an obsession with polka music, so now I have a bunch of polka collections. I don’t listen to them much these days though. I doubt anyone outside of my state has heard of them, but is anyone familiar with Follow the Train?
…ive felt absolutely horrible all day.
i walked into 1st hr (choir) this morning, + it was completely silent. then a few ppl came in-and they were sobbing. then my friend came in, and she was crying also. i asked her what was wrong. it turns out that my choir teacher is leaving after this year. he could possibly be the best teacher ive ever had. honestly, i think half the reason why some ppl are in choir is b/c of him. i mean, other teachers wouldnt let us decorate the room w/ creepy looking dolls (dont ask) or skip class to go to the mall + put up posters for the skool musical. i dont know what will happen next year. probably some evil nun will become the new teacher…
there were so many sad faces today.
THF- Yes, I have been trying to type properly, and am now…CAPITALIZING! TSO is the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Very froody. I like musick in minor keys. Especially if it is slow.
I play violin, too! but what am I supposed to tell you? There’s something called a bow…how’s that?
I have to play my violin in front of my church on the 30th, because my mom is annoying and signed me up!
And then I have a bells concert tomarrow.
I Like the killers.
sorry, number 68 was to THF, if that wasn’t obvious
TSO, Ive heard them, they’re amazing.
I’m listening to The Shins.
I love the The Shins.
No wait, now I’m listening to Franz Ferdinand. Franz Ferdinand is good too. I have their new album. Tasty.
I just went to this fundraiser thing for communites in Niger. They had the PHANTASTIQUE djambe drummers. I love djambe. I took a class for it once; it’s the a wooden drum with a goatskin for the drum-part (I dont really know what to call it). Its shaped like and hourglass, kind of.
The rythms are so good! Great for dancing; I also learned some African dancing, which is great fun. I’m hopefull going to learn more drumming and dancing.
63 Taiwan Hippo Fan-
I play violin also. So what do you want to talk about?
Right now I’m working on:
Paganini Caprices #13 and #20
Bach Loure from Partita #3 (the E major one that always gets played at weddings)
Sinding Suite movement 1
I just started Wieniawski concerto #2 in d minor second movement (not THE Wieniawski, though)
various etudes
I think that’s everything I’m playing.. All of the solo stuff, anyway. I’m also playing a Beethoven quartet (for S&E) and then the orchestra music, but I never practice that anyway..
I play piano, and I’m in a chamber music group…we’re playing the Bach Double. It sounds really cool with a piano quartet
Next week, my school is ahving a day dedicated to the arts and my Jazz Band is gonna play the whole day long. I don’t envy the wind instruments. There gonna have really sore mouths.
37) ahem they are iTunes compatible. I am listening to WIcked on iTunes on a lovely windows computer RIGHT NOW
I play violin but I only know a few Suzuki things, some things I figured out from LotR, and Twinkle Twinkle. I was crazy violin playing old gypsy man in my school’s play. (I’m a girl by the way) I had huge eyebrows and a mustache that I had to put on with spirit gum.
I like Franz Ferdinand, Musicals: Wicked; Fiddler on the Roof; Les Miserables, Led Zepplin, the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle, Maná, Juanes, Nena, Matisyahu, and lots of other random things.
E~A- “Lovely” and “windows computer” are two phrases/words that should never be found next to each other. =p
66-Never fear, emogrl, it’ll be all right.
67–Slow minor things? Well, that’s the Schindler’s List for you. But the other two are pretty/very fast.
68–True, there is something called a bow. Well done!(I know you were kind of teasing me, but, well, whatever.
70–I love African drumming and dancing! I wish I could learn it. When we went to South Africa, we saw tons of different kinds of dancing, and a bit of drumming. It was amazing!
71–That’s so cool! I love all of those Paganini caprices (Is that capitalized?)–They’re so…….cool?
Also, good for you for not practicing orchestra stuff. I never practice my llittle school ensemble stuff, and I’m always fine. I’m about to try out for an orchestra thingy(my friend’s already in it, and she’s the youngest violin 1, and since I like to think I am better than her (exept for the fact that her sightreading is a tad bit better than mine), I think I will get in, at least second violin, also. Just as a little fun fact.
75–I sound out a bunch of things on my violin from Water Music (I have half of the music memorized from listening to the ‘soundtrack’ way too many times) , and it’s really fun!
hmm…..
I like Chopin’s Fantasie Impromptu
Actually, I LOVE it.
i just watched the vid for TSOs beethoven requium. it was pretty neat
Has anybody heard the British rock group called Muse? I’ve been tempted to send them copies of the magazine, but only if they’re worthy.
Did anyone get an email with the TSO christmas thing, where the guy added their music to his light show? It was COOL!! I downloaded the song.
I just got into the highest orchestra in my highschool for next year, and I’m a feshmen next year. YAYAYAYAYAY!!!
actually, I don’t really know. My violin teacher said other kids from highschool, who don’t know me yet, were like “who is this ******* kid (my name, not a cuss word).
And I’m the only person with ******** as a name, and who nobody knows. I hope that’s right.
Did I say i like TSO, and THE Killers, and Coldplay? I just downloaded a speed of sound music video. I really don’t know why, I just did it at the spur of the moment.
Yes, my friend has at least one of there albums (there are only two). It depends on what you mean by “worthy”. The vocalist is pretty nasal and gaspy, not particuraly good, but some of the insturmental music is OK.
81- Haven’t heard of them. I’ll look for a video on YouTube.
I have a piano recital today…I’m getting nervous…..
I have been playing in them since age 6, but I still get nervous!
Nothing special.
I’ve heard of the band Muse. Someone thought my Urania shirt was about them.
im in a killer marching band. we just came back from a tour. i play the flute
The FLUTE
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Marching band pwns.
SPSoP-what’s so funny about the flute?
Is this an inside joke, or just random hilarity for no particular reason?
I have concert thursday. Wheee. Jazz band’s not playing though. just concert and orchestra.
i really like the beatles
I am the wlrus….
it cuz he is a GUY
its sort of a girly instrument. i play trumpet and baritone, and my little sister plays flute andpiano. most guys play percussion, brass, sax, or even clarinet, but Flute i mean come on
I know guys that play flute. I’m a girl and i play trumpet, i have a (girl) friend who plays baritone, i have a (guy) friend who used to play flute. As well as several other nodding aquaintances (i’m almost sure i spleled that rong. Ah well) who are guys and used to play flute. I also know a girl trombone player and loads of other girl trumpet players.
???
I used to play the flute. I probably still can, if I try…
I don’t think instruments have specific genders that play them
81 – There’s a group called Muse? I hadn’t heard of them, but they sound interesting. I’ll have to go find some of their songs.
Oh. Everyone needs to listen to Claire de Lune by Debussy.
It makes me want to cry, it’s so good. -tear-
does it matter, someone’s gender, when they play the flute? or the lute?
I can play “tequila” on the flute!
Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf
Ivo de Vento
Cornelius Verdonck
Clement Jannequin
Moritz, Landgraf von Hessen
John Dunstable
Solange
Clemens non Papa
Orlando Gibbons.
Why are all the greatest composers forgotten?
Have ANY of you heard ANYTHING by ANY of them?
The world’s not fair.
ebith- one of mi best friends, she plays the trombone, but thats cuz its agirly instrument.(baritone is also.) what kind of baritone does your friend play
I play trombone. Go Me! I also like to listen to show tunes
EVERYBODY has to listen to Fantasie Impromptu by Chopin.
I played Debussy’s second Arabesque last year (7th grade)
How can musical instruments possibly be classified as “girly” or “manly”?????
#106 – exactly my point
does anybody here like hanson
some of the choir ppl @ skool who are very good @ composing wrote a song to dedicate to my choir teacher. we had this secret little meeting after skool today (w/ all the people who showed up, im surprised the whole thing was kept a secret from skool officials), + they gave us all the lyrics. they are so good. i wish i could compose like that.
hanson…are those the guys w/ the relly long hair?
I like Folk Songs, Broadway songs, Disney songs, ect.
they USED to have long hair.. in 97′ they’re really good musicians now
I like Classic rock. mostly
Aerosmith
Led Zeppelin
The Rolling Stones
The Grateful Dead
and lots of others…
The only modern rock I like is
Hanson
28 Days
Wolfmother
and nothing else
The ONLY country music i like is The Pat McGee Band
I haven’t even heard of half of those things.
i like lynyrd skynyrd too
I love wierd music!!!!!
Classical Music, music form different cultures, and (of course) wake Me up When September Ends
Play flute, Piano, and a plastic recorder that I drive my mom crazy with that I really don’t know haw to play.
They might Be Giants…………..NO!!!!!!!!!
Carnival of the animals!
Um,
They Might be Giants- #3
High School Musical- #2
And, in first place,
AQUA!!!!! Oh yah!!
GAPA- i looked Muse up on itunes… they’re not bad. and sending them a copy… you can’t get much worse than tiffany and laney (IF they were being serious), can you?
I play the clarinet, the piano, the sax, and the flute……..I might just qualify as a band geek. Almost.
My favorite band is Rush. They’re a Canadian rock band from, like, the 80’s (or somewhere around there) and they’re REALLY good. None of my friends can understand Geddy, but I’ve listened to him so long I always know what he’s saying.
And I like soundtracks.
lynyrd skynyrd rocks!!
In a nutshell, music is my life. But this is not for nutshells (or even pie shells, unless nobody appears to share my taste).
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE CLASSIC ROCK!! Favourite bands include:
The Beatles – Hoorah for mindless, happy love songs and deep balleds and products of pot and LSD!
Queen – Freddie Mercury is quite possibly one of the greatest vocalists ever to set foot on this Earth….Extravegent? Yes. Charismatic? No doubt. Rockin’? Check out “Tie Your Mother Down” and “Hammer To Fall”. Varying? Is it possible to include any MORE genres in their music?!
Led Zeppelin – The pavement for future hard-rock bands. Master guitarist, Jimmy Page. His solos are grand and eccentric.
The Who – Revoltuionary. Youthfull. Proud. Destructive (hehe). Spirited. Strong. Wild. Pete Townshend turned rythm guitar into an art form with his expertise.
The Rolling Stones – Hard, rebellious, in constant competition with The Beatles is to who was (is) the greatest British rock band of the century. Though the tougne logo would be more fitting if they all didn’t look like corpses.
Lynryd Synryd – What Southern rock was meant to be. Although I personally don’t enjoy most Southern rock, this stuff is good.
The Doors – The lyrics are POETRY for God’s sake!! Jim Morrison was a bit of word-smith. Also rather eccentric, in a blues/rock kind of way, adding feelings to his words.
Creedance Clearwater Revival – Again, some Southern rock I’m actyually fond of. A touch of rebellious politics here and there (Fortunate Son”) and the spirit of youth.
Aerosmith – Rockin’ music, with feeling and hard lyrics.
Pink Floyd – Absolutely ASTOUNDING in their experimentle music and jam- style. The lyrics are brilliant, very meaningfull. (Currently listening to The Wall!)
U2 – Their lyrics are amazing, again, like poetry and deepa d heartfelt. They’re very creative and imaginative.
The Kinks – Very fun songs, come more than others. Ray Davies writes splendid lyrics, all open to interpretation.
Bob Dylan – (Let us set aside his nasally voice, shall we?) He expresses himself in somewhat of an enigmaitc way, mysterious and slow in an attractive way.
Jimi Hendrix – Again, beautiful lyrically. And I don’t know if I even have to mention this (but if I don’t people will think I’m ‘just that special’ as my friend Ben would put it), but the GUITAR KICKS BUTT!! DEFINITY the guitar God of all!! LOVE the psychedellic style!
Wings – Playful love songs, fun and creative. Favourite song would have to be “Band On the Run”.
Heart – Nothing particularly special about them (aside fromm their voice!), but isn’t it nice to have some FEMALE rockers for once?
Grateful Dead – Most rockin’, JAM band. A live show would have to be quite the experience. For instance, Jerry Garcia’s endless guitar solos would be a treat.
George Harrison – Very pretty, soft and smile-lifting from “The Quiet Beatle”.
John Lennon – Experimentle, creative, with a message. Some heartfelt, some angry. Any way, he speaks his mind and takes things to the limit and possibly beyond.
Paul McCartney – Very creative, lovely, all the same. Anyone who claims to be a fan of Macca and hasn’t heard Chaos and Creation In the Backyard needs to seriously re-think their life.
Deep Purple – Another jam band of sorts I’m fond of. Very hard, very rock and very creative.
The Eagles – I grew up with folk but cannot live without rock, which s probably why I enjoy these guys so much. The heavy acoustic is simply very appealing for when you feel like listeing to something like that (I am completely running out of how to compliment these guys properly!).
Chuck Berry – One of the most revolutionary rockers of the ’50s, inspiring aspiring rockers such as The Beatles and many others.
Frank Zappa – Downright weird, but all the same, pretty awesome.
I also like some KISS, Alice Cooper, Green Day and The Clash, but not enough to write a thoughtfull blurb about them.
And Spinal Tap is so splendid in the way their poke fun at ceratin rocker people I love (Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Who)!
Other people I love:
Ani DiFranco – Guitar is simply amazing, lyrics are poetry. Very strong, gets what goes on in her mind to the ptherend of the globe.
Werird Al Yankovic – HILARIOUS parodies, so funny. And the songs he writes are pretty amusing, too. And accordians are so much more *ahem* ATTRACTIVE, wouldn’t you agree?
Josh Groban – Has an amazing voice, simply put. The way he diverges from all this modern trash and sings to an audience who loves him, not one who shuns and riducules him and tells him to change. “You Raise Me Up”…
So there you go. All of my fav bands and singers. I’m also getting into Free and Pete Townshend’s solo stuff.
Oh yeah. I play ELECTRIC guitar (*grins sheepishly*) – or at least I try. I’m trying lead, though I think rythm’s more realistic. And I’m SO happy because I was 3rd chair in the French horn’s all last year!! I figure that’s the highest I’m gonna get, though I might take a stab at 2nd. 3rd chair is a very competitive placement, mind you. Everyone envied me last year, but I always won the desired spot. And I wasn’t too mature to gloat….And since I’llt ry getting into a band, I might try my hand at drums and bass and piano.
And right now I’m listening to the German version of The Beatles’ “She Loves You” – “Sie Leibt Dich” on Past Masters Volume One. Ooh! It just changed to “Misty Mountain Hop” by Led Zeppelin on Led Zeppelin IV!!
Well that was splendid, wasn’t it now, luvs?
OK, so I just realised how infinitly long that was. As I said, not for nutshells.
“One More Saturday Night” by Gratefull Dead!! ;0
Switch
Pump it
Harder to Breathe
Anything by Jason Mraz
Anything by Blue Man Group
I would suggest a thread on Erik Karol.
(the French pop singer)
He’s to die for.
His voice is the kind of voice that any sane person would rip out of his throat, dress in a really fancy tux, walk down the isle with, smooch, and then live happily ever after with.
He’s good looking as well, but his voice makes the angles sound pathetic.
If there was ever a singer who deserved their own thread, it would be Erik Karol.
You can hear Karol in:
The DVD and soundtrack versions of
Cirque Du Soleil’s – Dralion.
The show is good, but it’s Karol’s singing, that runs the show.
PS for DVD purchasers: Karol is the one with long black hair.
If any of you have heard Karol, or decide to purchase one of his albums (you can find the titles on Erik Karol’s website-google it) please tell me about it.
I l-o-v-e that man.
Has anyone heard Crazy by Gnarls Barkley? OH, so crazy. That whole album is phantastique. It puts a whole new spin on alternative. They almost get into rap- territory, which my set you off, but trust me, their PHENOMENAL.
My friends and I started a band. Our first song is…umm… really funny, actually. Well, we had fun making it.
