The accepted spelling is “Mother’s,” with the apostrophe before the “s.” But Robert has long felt that as more than one mother is involved, the word should be possessive plural.
Anyway, unlike such bogus holidays as Presidents’ Day, this is one we all have some idea of how to celebrate. What do you do?
My family once had a caldendar that had Mothers’ and Fathers’ day labeled as “Commercial Holiday Number One”
And “Commercial Holiday Number Two”. I thought it was pretty funny. Still, mothers’ day is kind of a sweet thing. My family doesnt do anything, except that seeing as it is a sunday this year, my sister comes over from her house and we all eat dinner together. (We always do that on sundays. I’m not sure why exactly on sundays, except that that’s the time everyones sure to be free).
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL YOU MUSE MOMS!!
i made my mom this KILLER coffie cake
I-
In the morning-
1. Woke up
2. Went to the bathroom
3. Went on Furry Paws and Museblog
4. Gave my mom some shabbat candlesticks
At hebrew school-
1. Looked at in isreali teen magazine and wrote about it. I never realised how much american culture has influence the the world (and how much isrealis like porn)
2. We had to do a survey on triats we want our ideal husband/wife to have. I checked off all the traits that my crush has. I also played a guessing game with his best friend on who I like. He guesses my cousin, then he said “Not *name of the guy I like goes here*, then he guessed a 6th grader that was promoted into our class, then I hinted “You already said his name”. He nearly barfed.
3. Read a story about ‘The last american jew”.
4. Got into a debate with my crushes best friend on whenever god really exists (I say he/she/it does)
Then I got home, and went on museblog
I’m GOING to my aunts house for a pizza party
Happy Mothers Day people!
I spell it like that, too.
Sneaking around and suchlike was quite easy this year…mom has a hurt foot. Poor mom. Anyway, we got her choklit and a cinnamon roll. And a waterbottle. Yup.
my mother taught me LOGIC – “if you fall off that swing and break your neck, you can’t come to the store”
there’s more, but i cant remember it right now.
Every year, we have biked about 3 miles to a bagel store to get bagels for my mom for breakfast. BUT, this year, we had to drive to get bagels because I was running “Race for the Cure” with my choir, so we had to get them quicker.
My family doesn’t do anything exceptionally special, but we do cook the meals and do the housework so mom can rest all day.
I love my mum. Poor her, she got back late last night from being out of town for 10 days going to all these different conferences. So she was very jet lag for Mothers’ day (not that we do anything for it, as I said)
well, for mothers day we used to all split and let mom clean house, which she enjoyed and we enjoyed. for some reason we dont do that anymore, but she still tries to clean the house, and we have to practically tie her down to make her stop. she says that ‘all she ever wants for mother’s day is for us to wish her a happy mothers day.’ [aawww, how very charles dickens]
my mom doesn’t really like mother’s day. Her mom died a few years ago, so…
but we still make her presents and be nice to her
OMG- copper bigfoot- A FELLOW JEW!!
that was weird.. hope there are no Anti-semitics listening..
What i did for mothers day..
i made my mom a card but she didnt like it so i cried and then made her another one which she liked and I was happy!!
There are lotsa jews on here, accually. But lets not get off-topic. Maybe OEAD can make a thread for us jews
a Jew thread would be cool and also a religions thread. we could talk about world religions. I second the idea
as for mothers day, my family doesn’t do anything really.
(14) somehow I don’t think museblog would be an attraction for anti-semetics.
for mothers’ day we go out for Brunch. But that’s mostly it. (sorry, not a Jew! (: )
oh and about being Jewish. I am, but not really. I have slowly (over the course of the past 8 months or so) began to realize that I am not Catholic, I am Jewish. This may seem crazy or strange to you, but I have thought it out. My family isn’t very religious Catholic and my dad isn’t at all. We belong to the JCC and I have a lot of Jewish-ness surrounding me at all times. The more I learn about Judaism, the more I know I am Jewish. So how does one convert anyways? I’m not going to go about it right away because I think it will be awkward to tell my family so I am waiting until I am more independant. I am serious about this though. I do feel Jewish. I consider myself Jewish. I have been slowly realizing that I feel this way for 8 months.
20-I know a lot of people like that. I live in a very jewish place, and go to a skool with the biggest jewish minority i’ve ever seen. Actually if you counted people like you who consider themselves jewish but haven’t converted, it’d probably be the majority.
However, i don’t think we need a specific jewish thread (no, i’m NOT anti-semetic…sheesh people) A religion thread’d be cool, but if we made a jewish thread we’d end up trying to be fair, with a christian thread, a buddhist thread, an islamic thread, etc, etc. World religions in general is a good idee though.
Friends of mine have converted. It’s not easy. You have to take classes and pass a test. Unlike a lot of religions, Jews don’t want to make the whole world Jewish.
hmm… i am no religion at all. it may seem kinda weird but i believe that there is some sort of spirit in the world in the trees and in my beloved plants an animals. i am odd. mothers day… my moms b-day in the day before mothers day and my dad’s b-day is on mothers day. Its crazy
