Greetings, O wanderers in darkness! Please start here for a warm welcome (involving pie) and advice from Those Who Know. Enter, please.
We recommend that newcomers (that’s what “neophytes” means) look over The Rules and The HG2MB (Hitchhiker’s Guide to MuseBlog).
Next, if you’re so minded, stop by Who’s Here (see the menu at the top of your screen) and announce your arrival in a comment there, so we’ll be sure to add you to the official list.
MuseBlog Veterans: Please use this thread only to welcome newcomers as they arrive and answer questions that they ask.
Welcome!
*readies the darkness pies*
Greetings! *pies in advance*
Yes, welcome! I haven’t been on here for a while, but since that has nothing to do with said topic…. welcome!

Guys, don’t scare them away with pies! Welcome, neophytes! Dodge the pies! *ducks*
No, the pies are good!
But the ‘phytes don’t know that.
Why don’t we wait until some neophytes come before we start attacking them with pies?
Maybe everyone who gets Muse is already on here! There’s a scary thought!
I have a new email address, so technically I’m a neophyte now.
*pouts because I’ve never gotten a chance to see paleophyte threads*
5- That shouldn’t make a difference, 6 months on the blog is 6 months.
I found a muser on another site and gave them a link to Museblog, so one might show up sometime/might have already… if so, hello there.
It’s the fourth! I can go on a paleophyte thread with my chess account! /exclamation points/
It’s my blogiversary…
*waits to turn into a grumpy old paleo*
*is still waiting*
Happy blogiversary! (Mine is tomorrow.)
Happy blogiversary to you!
Thanks!
Huh. It’s not working. *tries again*
You should be in. I set the account right after moderating your original post. Look under the category called “Paleostuff” to find the threads.
Oh. My. God. I’ve been on the blog longer than Enceladus. Oh my god. Wow.
Well, congratulations on your Paleophyte-hood, Enc!
I have something to say:
When I came on, everyone that was on before me I worshiped as a sort of God. Yes, that included you. Now, I worship everyone who was on six months before me.
Yea, same for me.
Drat, I just missed being worshiped as goddess. Oh well, I guess there’ll always be another generation.
I’ve been worshipped as a god by both you and Enc?
“You” was meant to refer to SR, I hit reply to the wrong comment. XD
And now I’m a goddess of biology? Wow. I didn’t think I was that spectacularly awesome and helpful with it……..
paleo? isn’t that some kind of object from a long time ago?
Yeah, basically. The “paleophyte” thread is accessible only to those ‘bloggers who have been on the ‘blog for a long time, I think a year?
Thus, since newcomers are “neophytes”, people who have been here for ages and ages are “paleophytes.”
And welcome to the ‘blog, by the way! *pies*

Six months.
Hello I am a neophyte. I just got on here today.
Hey Bush Bug! Welcome to MuseBlog! Have you checked out the HG2G and Rules yet? It’s the best way to start off MB on a good foot…anyway, welcome pies!!
Enjoy!
I’ve been on for a month.
Welcome!
Oh look! You’re name is already on the “Coming Soon!” section! That’ll get your name around… Or perhaps newer people (such as I) will think that it’s some old MBer who doesn’t post anymore… Anyway, happy (early) birthday!
Welcome! I am a 12-year-old female
humanoid, in case you were wondering.Hello BushBug! Welcome to MuseBlog!
Hello! Most people don’t start off with avatars…

I’m not exactly positive how you tell when you started posting because I can’t remember and it doesn’t say under Who’s Here so could anyone help me out there? Anyway, I just registered for an account in preparation of my paleo which I’m pretty sure will be towards the end of this month…wow. I feel so old! I can’t believe I’m “almost” a grumpy paleo…
SFTDP
Sorry, I just found the Who’s Here page that shows how much you’ve posted. I will become a paleo on the 25th of this month!
According to the Who’s Here page, you started posting on 5/25/2009.
crazyreader101 = soccer starr = soccer* (5/25/2009)
12- You first posted May 25, 2009. It was under Who’s Here.
Thanks Luna the Lovely and Alice!
*is grumpy old paleo**waits for blogiversary* Welcome, Bush Bug!

Welcome Bush Bug! First neophyte of the month, w00t!
Welcome! I’m a neophyte too I guess – I first posted on September…something. (22nd, I think) And 2009 of course.

But welcome anyway!
Welcome, BushBug! Try not to slip on the pies! And welcome back, bella!

Hello… And thanks for welcoming me warmly. I’ve been getting Muse for three years, but only just got on MuseBlog.
How do you do the pies?
There are two types of pies. The first is done by typing the following sequence minus the spaces
: ! :
The second:
: arrow :
Great!!!
Yayy!!!
Welcome!
Don’t worry, I’m just on a different computer. Hello to all you newcomers! BushBug, did you know about Gravatar.com before you started museblogging?
I like your new avatar, LittleBasmentKitten. On a different computer!

Anyway, welcome, Bella and BushBug!
Yes, I did. It was hard for me to get one, though.
Welcome Bushbug and Bella. ((I had a paleo account until it was canceled)) *runs off crying* ((just kidding about be mad and/or sad about it)) Welcome pies(and bunnies).

SFTDP
The bunny part didn’t sound very manly. Neither did the crying part.
Huh. I joined last month, actually.
But thanks for the belated welcomes anyway.
Well, you’ll soon find that to most of the paleos, one month on MB is nothing. Honestly. But you’ll get used to it. I guess I probably shouldn’t be the one to speak, I’m not quite a paleo yet, but I will be one this month!
Next month by my count, ss.
Oh, oops maybe I made a miscalculation, I’ll double check the What’s Here. Thanks Robert.
SFTDP
*Who’s Here, not What’s. Sorry.
Welcome, BushBug and Bella! Alliteration! Woop! Surprisingly few neophytes this month, even the type that post twice and leave. Just two. But then, the month is new yet.
The month is young.
Welcome BushBug (Could I call you “BB” to make it easier?)
Okay.

Welcome everyone!

My friend will probably be on here, I think….
If we’re lucky, en might even stick around.
Maybe…en will probably call enself something involving Nosferatu.
I invited my cousin, but he hasn’t emailed me back.
Hi my name’s Jordan and I’m a BOY!!! Don’t get that mixed up…anyway, I get Muse but I didn’t find out about Museblog until two minutes ago when i looked in one of the older mags and saw it and right away got on the computer! Anyway i’m hoping this is the right place to post, I think it is…pie rocks!
There are plenty of boys by the name of Jordan. I actually have a, er, well, i guess he’d be a second-cousin by that name, who I don’t know at all, other than he goes to the same college as me….And also was homeschooled and also wants to be a veterinarian.
Talk about weird coincidences. Anyways. Yes. Jordan-the-boy.
Feel free to ignore me, I tend to ramble on, especially when I’m in a weird mood such as the one I’m in right now….Yeah, er, anyway, I’m Luna, obviously.
And if you actually made it through this post, then, well, welcome to the ‘blog and have some pie!

Yeah, there are a lot of girls with the name Jordan at my school so we get mixed up a lot but my neighbor’s have a guy named Jordan but that’s the only other Jordan-the-boy that I know! It’s ok, I don’t mind. Ranting is good!
(I’m pretty sure that’s how you do a smiley face…right?)
Welcome!
Welcome to the blog!

Don’t let Luna scare you off. She just escaped from the asylum–that is–uh, never mind.
Hey! I was being friendly, not scary and intimidating! Wait a minute…..How’d you know I was in an asylum! *glares suspiciously* Nobody was supposed to know about that. Oh, dear, I must go on the run, again, before I get recaptured……
Hallo. Don’t worry about the gender thing…everyone used to think I was a guy…maybe they still do, I never really bothered asking. *pies randomly* *accidentally hits self with pie* *rubs eyes* *licks off all possible cherry filling, leaving a reverse clown mouth* *laughs*
You’re not a guy? Oops. *blushes*
What, you thought Piggy was a girl? *snork*
I kind of think I did too for my first couple of weeks. I was straightened out by about this time last year though.
A lot of people used to think (and may still think) that, Luna.
I’ll take your word for that, while I continue to laugh uncontrollably. Sorry, I just find that extraordinarily amusing for some reason…..
I thought that too in the beginning I must admit.
I too thought that Piggy was female at first.
I’ve known Marf was a girl, because, well, I’ve met her. I think people have incorrectly guessed my gender, though.
Really? You’re a girl, right? I know people have assumed I’m a girl before… *coughcoughEnceladusonPhysignomicalthreadcoughcough*
Yeah, I’m a girl. I was under the impression you were a girl for the longest time.
And I’m a girl too, in case you’re wondering.
Oops.
Welcome, BushBug and Jordan!
I also managed to miss all the references to MB in various issues over several years…
Hi, I’m new….. ha ha.
My friend Pseudonym mentioned me… I think.
Welcome!
Eek, your avatar is scary.
SFTDP.
How do you change your avatar?
Hello, Nosferatu219! It looks like you already figured out how to change your gravatar. Welcome pies!

Nice hat SudoRandom!

Why, thank you! You sure are picking up the generalities of MB fast. It took me a few

daysweeks (if I’m honest) to figure out that I was supposed to use capitals and punctuation…And I have a sneaking suspicion that I know you.
I think you know me too. If you know Pseudonym, you know me.
Welcome, Nosferatu. Nice avatar.

Welcome! My old avatar was scary, too. *laughs* I’m probably being stupid right now, but who or what is Nosferatu? It sounds French…
SD-
I always use punctuation and capitals!!! I’m going to have fun with this little piece of information…

Nosferatu is another word for vampire, I believe. In a different language. Ask Piggy.
By SD did you mean SR?
What is that little image at the end of “By SD did you mean SR?”? Does everyone see it, or just me?
O.O No, is it still there?
It’s still there. It looks like this: (Can you see that?”
Anybody else see it?
It’s just you. I still don’t see any image in either post…..
I can see it too. It’s a little box….
Yes, I see it. It looks like a upside-down crucifix.
It looks to me like a little box with three little 0 shapes and a line.
I see it (using Firefox 3.5.3 on a Macintosh running OS 10.5.8) as a little box with four numerals in two rows: top row, 0 0; bottom row, 1 0 .
However, I see only blankness using Safari 4.0.3.
Maybe it’s a new kind of wung.
Oh! Yes, when I switch over to Firefox, I can see it as well. Now, I know I’ve seen symbols like that before, somewhere, I just can’t for the life of me remember where…..Huh.
What’s a wung?
That’s what I’m seeing, and I use Internet Explorer (8, I think).
I’m using Internet Explorer too.
I see it as a box, on Mozilla Firefox, 4.something
Same on IE 8
I see a little cross. I’m on Internet Explorer 8, I’m pretty sure.
Welcome, Nosferatu! I’m not quite sure what your Gravatar has to do with Nosferatu, though.
36.1- It’s purportedly a Romanian word which means, more or less, “vampire”, but the origin is uncertain and may have been a modern creation. Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens, or Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror was a silent film first released in Germany in 1922 (and in the U.S. in 1929) which was, if I remember correctly, the first on-screen portrayal of Count Dracula–though unofficial, as the company never actually bothered to get the rights to the characters. Since it would’ve been copyright infringement to call him Count Dracula, they called him Count Orlok instead, though most people who know the movie just call him Nosferatu.
Coooooool…
SR- Ya, I ment to say SR, and I can see the rectangle thingy. As for what it is, beats me.
Didn’t you have Count OIrlok as a Gravatar for a few days? *Is lazy*
Yeah, I did. I’ve gone through a lot of Gravatars.
Probably not as many as me.
Welcome Nosferato.
I’ve been wondering what comes between a paleophyte and a neophyte. Is it just a plain phyte, or something else?
I think you are probably an MBer, or something. But phyte sounds good. GAPA’s, where do you get the names from?
Greek.
Cool. Sweet. Flamblamulous. Awesome. Um, neat. I ran out of ideas.
A MBer. At first, there were only neophytes, and that’s where the ‘phyte abbreviation was first used. Then the paleophyte threads were created and the paleo’s named with them. There was talk about “mesophytes”, but the whole thing died out of lack of interest. You’re always a MBer.
Sweet. My little brother might have swine flu. *cue scary organ music* And now my ear is hurting. Sorry if this seems like PoPo.
I hope we didn’t scare Jordan away, HE hasn’t posted in a while…I guess most neophytes don’t last for very long. *sigh*
But some are incredible persistent. It evens out.
You guys probably scared him away with all of your pies.
Come back, Jordan!!!!
I’m still here.
I stayed… then I went away, then I came back. *shrug* I don’t really think I’m a neophyte anymore, though.
(I really have no reason to be happy. IDK. I am anyhow.)
I was a neophyte, and I’m still here! (How long are you a neophyte, by the way?)
You’re a neophyte until you are no longer a neophyte. There’s no specific length of time or specific requirements–you stop being a neophyte when you stop being a neophyte. Just forget about being a neophyte and you’ll quickly stop being one, in most cases.
That really dosen’t make much sense……….
Basically, neophyte=newcomer. Some people figure out the system quickly, others take a while. Still, you’re a neophyte until you are basically a familiar face. Roughly one month for the basics and three months to hone your MBerness to nigh perfection. That’s my view, anyway.
Hmm. Here’s my timeline:
1 month: Still staring wide-eyed at the froodyness of the blog
3 months: Just getting comfortable with the blog.
6 months: Instructing my friends about the blog.
Okay, I’d say you all have covered this subject eloquently and sufficiently. Further comments will be considered off-topic for this thread. The GAPA Zap of Doom is on stand-by.
Hi….. I left for quite a while, didn’t I.
No, not really. I only noticed your vanishment today.
Me too. Stick around this time.
Hello others. I’m new, hence me being on the ‘Welcome Neophytes!’ thread. Hee Hee.
Welcome! Since you’re using capitalization and punctuation I guess that I probably can’t scare you off. (I have a history of scaring people off when the don’t capitalize or use punctuation)
Hi! *welcome pies*
Can I call you PI? Or maybe Phobo? Phobophobic Iophobic is a bit of a
mouthfultypeful….Welcome PL! I think I shall call you that for now, is that alright? Anyway, nice gravatar. Coolio.
Is your avatar the Million Dollar Homepage?
In the long run, avatars don’t matter as long as you make a move in chess occasionally.
Testing! I just got a new Gravatar. I really don’t know what an owl has to do with anything, but still…
Call me what you wish.
I thought Piggy was a girl. Funny, it took me weeks to recover from the shock of realization (It was Muser Profiles that did it) but now, I can barely picture Piggy as one. I also thought Kai was a girl, and I remember a perhaps abrupt (if not rude) AE involving my realization. Ever since then, I’ve been careful not to assume, and in confused times, have thought people were telling me Fireh was a boy…
Robert (36.1.1.1.2.2)- I’m in Safari now, and can’t see it, but I can in Firefox. It seems to be a wung that only appears in certain dimensions of the internet. I wonder if I was able to copy it in to Safari somehow… I’ll try soon.
Kai is a girl, isn’t she?
If Kai isn’t, I’m dreadfully confused…..
You won’t be the only one……
Me too………
Yes, I’m 100% certain she is. *used to think of her as a guy* Here, my name is an advantage…
So is mine! At least, I don’t think any guys would use the name “bella” here….
I wouldn’t be too sure….
Mine name is an advantage, too.
And oddly, my name is Jordan, too.
My name is quite ambiguous, isn’t it? (I’m female)
Whoops. Meant to type “I also thought Kai was a boy. Sorry for the mix-up.
That makes a lot more sense…..
Yes, it does.
Yes, yes, I AM a girl.
Who, me? When was this? A boy….?!
I thought Piggy was a girl too! Whew, I’m glad I’m not the only one. And I also thought Kai was a boy.
((Sorry, sorry.))
Um, welcome bella, BushBug, Phobophobic Iophobic, rosebud2 and whoever else was on here since I was!
*coughcough* Do we all want to get yelled at by the GAPAs for once again clogging the Neophytes thread with non-directly-neophyte-related discussion?
Eh, I’m used to getting yelled at, Piggy. If I never did anything for fear of the subsequent yelling, my life would be very boring….Even more so than it already is.
Sorry, GAPAs…..I’ll be good now.
I was about to say the same thing. So that this isn’t un-related to neophytes, welcome!
I am a neophyte, I only started today!
I thought of calling myself “sir elroye” on MB which is an anagram for my first and middle name, and that would’ve REALLY confused people gender-wise.
Welcome rosebud2!
Welcome rosebud2!
Welcome!!

Hi, rosebud2! glad you’re using capitals and punctuation!
Horray! My b-day is tomorrow!

Thanks for the pie

Welcome, rosebud2!

Hey everyone!
Your avatar bears a disturbing resembleance to me.
You look like a bespectacled, fanged, green octagon?
Bespectacled, yes. Fanged, sort of. Green octagon, no. I can, however, move each eyebrow independently.
Welcome!

‘Ello all! Welcome!
*pies*
Etc.
50- Welcome
!
HI! Nice to meet you all!
50.1- How so?
50.1.1- Yes. Bespectacled, heh heh.
Hello. I do hope I am not being impertinent in asking you of what gender you are?
(Hehe. I wonder if Ty’ll come on. I dunno. [he’s my friend who gets Muse, fyi…..] He seemed a bit interested.]
Anyhoo, welcome, Keiffer!
Hello, Keiffer. We are pleased to meet you! And so are the pies!
And the HPBs!

I’m a female, but I actually do not have a preference. Although, this is my real first name.
GAPA’s, is that allowed?
You’re allowed to identify yourselves by first name but not by last name.
What language/culture is that from?
It’s in the rules right, I remember reading it while i was lurking about.
*high fives* You read the rules! *high fives again*
Wrong email. *facepalm*
Ima *noob* here! Somebody already nose me and I like bad puns.
!Prepare for the AlpacaLips!
Welcome, Alpaca Lips! It’s cool to have a dad on here, should be interesting to get a different perspective on things than usual. (Not like usual is a bad thing, guys! I’m just saying it’ll be interesting, k?!) Alright, here come the pies!!!!!!!! (I hope fireh has warned you about these things…if not, pies are a friendly greeting around here. Just so that you know…)
Alpacas = awesomeness.
Welcome!
,
*is curious* Why AlpacaLips?
It’s like our RPG thread: Bunny AlpacaLips.
Had to read that comment about five times before I finally got it….Wow, I’m slow today. It’s like all the electric pulses in my brain are trying to travel through thick mud. Stupid cold.
But after I did finally get it–
Wow. I only had to read that twice, but still.
Yup. “Prepare for the Alpaca Lips” indeed.

You like bad puns? I love bad puns, and my brother says I’ll die early for it. Or something like that.
Let’s invade the J&R thread together.
You know, now that I think about it, ‘bad pun’ is kind of redundant.
SR–if you like puns, try the Xanth books by Piers Anthony. They’re pun on top of pun on top of pun on top of pun to the extent that, well, I at least miss half of ’em.
Hi.
I’m not actually a neophyte anymore, but I think I qualify. Mostly because I cannot get the hang of this new system and I’ve been away for long enough that I have no idea what is going on.
Also the main reason why I wanted to post here was to ask if the thread starter is a reference to the Prologue of Tolerance. I have no idea what goes on in the rest of that, but it was in this anthology of stuff I have.
Your name sounds vaguely familiar. Welcome back!
Welcome (back)!
