    1. Silly Sudo, not looking in the Recent Posts bar. We just got a new R&R, (Thanks, GAPAs!) but we do need a BiP.

  1. I mentioned this before, but on a West Wing fansite, I saw bumper stickers that said “Don’t Blame Me- I Voted For Bartlet”, Bartlet being the president in The West Wing.

Could we do something similar, but with “Kokopelli” instead of “Bartlet”?

    1. What would we do on that thread? Talk about what would happen if Koko was president? :D

  2. GAPAs, I have a great idea for thread. It’s called the dilemmas thread, and on it we come up with dilemmas and see what people choose.

    1. Oh, that sounds cool! Seconded! But what would we do?

    2. I’ve been hoping for one of those for a while. :D
Although we should really ask Robert. I’m not sure I’d want to see swarms of people I only knew on the internet, even if they were nice enough, invading one of my private worlds and running about in it as they saw fit. Robert may have a different view of things, but if he doesn’t want to let us in, we shouldn’t press him.

    1. There are women’s long sleeve t-shirts for both the bold and scrawly type FEAR ME designs. For short sleeve there are the “Women’s Cap Sleeve T-Shirt” ones in both. But the only “normal” women’s short sleeve t-shirts do seem to be in dark colors, and only in the scrawly print.

  3. How about a “Fail” thread, where we post epic fails that we commit? ( SudoRandom, that one’s for you. I forgot what the fail was though. )

    Pie 0

    1. Yes, we need that. I have a horribly prolonged fail on an old thread somewhere. I’ll have to find it.

    1. As I explained on the thread itself, I don’t think so. It’s only over four hundred in replies, and replies are only rarely very long at all.
It’s also much more convenient to have everything on fewer pages, since you don’t have to sift through so much to find the post you want.
Anyway, I think the current thread has a fair amount of space left in it, and a new thread is unnecessary.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. I take back my thirded and agree with you – I wasn’t thinking about the replies but you’re indeed correct, the current thread is probably fine for now.

  4. How about a Sherlock Homes-era-and-style detective/general mystery RPG?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
      1. Ooh, yes, me too. With Holmes, you can never solve the mysteries yourself, because only the great Sherlock Holmes himself knows all the clues, but with Poirot and Mrs. Marple, you get all the information you need.

    1. Fourthed! I love mystery!

While you can count my vote, I am already involved in the Demigod RPG and the technically-active-but-not-really Romantic Musical Comedy RPG, so getting myself into another one might be a little much, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to resist this. Still, I might be better off watching but…oh just count it! :)

  6. I don’t know if this fits under the random thread, but maybe a thread that you can post what you’re doing at the moment (if it’s interesting enough to have the desire to post it.). A couple of times I felt like it wouldn’t fit under the random thread, but I wanted to post about something that I was doing… Maybe I’m just weird.

  12. Can I put in a request for a new RRR? Open to everyone (the Ensembles seem to have died, although I understand an attempt has been made to revive Noir, and City is still plodding along). Since a lot of the oldbies/paleophytes seem to have returned, this might help them feel a bit more at home in “MB 2.0.” Also, I’m getting nostalgic, and re-reading old RRRs doesn’t help anymore.
I don’t think we should have any genre or plot set in stone at the beginning. Given the group, it’ll likely turn out fantasy, but who knows?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
      1. I was thinking of something less constrained and potentially more serious, but there’s no reason we couldn’t do both. Is there?

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
    1. Oh, RRR, my love, my loss… wherefore diest thou? Wherefore? I strew rose petals on thy dusty tomb, thy final resting place in the fond remembrances of the past… But soft! Is there a breath of life yet? Does some footstep sound in the long-neglected paths? Does some voice disturb the quiet of the peaceful grave? O life! O love! Is it so? Does some miracle, some necromancy–evil or divine, it matters not–pour life into thy still memory? Let it be so! Let the genius and the folly of the past return, let it be revived by the old, and carried on by the young, tended and nurtured until it shall return to its former splendor!

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Adding Torchwood to the mix doesn’t change anything. And a separate space probably wouldn’t make Doctor Who any less of a thread traveler. He pops up everywhere. Besides, there’s plenty of room on the underutilized Geeky TV Shows thread.

  16. Two thread suggestions:

    1) A Wonderland RPG. We don’t have anything quite so random yet on MB, and we desperately need some new randomness.
    2) A General Trivia thread – like the Harry Potter Trivia-Off, only much more general.

    1. What’s “Wonderland”? As in “Alice in Wonderland”? Or something else?

      Pie 0

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
        1. Cool! Seconded! Only, could we have some of the characters from AiW? Like, the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar, and the Queen of Hearts?

          Pie 0
          Squid 0
          1. Yeah, I was thinking we would have those. In fact, what I meant by “Alice’s Earth” was the normal world, so we wouldn’t have Alice, her sister, the cats, etc.

  18. Hey, is there going to be a Happy Birthday, George Harrison! thread? Because if there isn’t, I would like to suggest it. February 25!

I don’t recall there being one for John Lennon ( October 8 ) but then I can’t remember if I was on then. Ringo and Paul are both in summer.

Hmmm, I’ve just checked, there was one for Sir Paul, but none for John.

In fact, Paul appears to be the only Beatle to have a birthday thread.

  19. We could have a writing thread where someone posts the beginning and end of a story, and others fill it in-or maybe we already have that. I’m a little delusional from the flu.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  20. Could be a feature which takes you to a random thread, like the “Random Article” button on Wikipedia? That way, it would be easier to find random, old threads.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  21. Okay, I had this random thread idea…
Sort of like the Writing Theme With Variations thread, only different.
So basically you post the list of criteria people have to use in writing a short piece of creative writing. For example, the happiest story you can, using at least once all of the words bloodshed, violence, anger, war, death, and despair.
Or I’m sure people could come up with other good criteria. Maybe a story centering around a random word, or another involving the topic of a thread pulled up by the random generator. Whatever people can think of. Limited only by imagination.
    Good idea?

    Pie 0

  22. I know that this was discussed a year or two ago, but maybe an “anti-chatroom” thread? 100 word minimum (or something like that) for each post, no nested comments, no set topic but no rapid changes of topic once we have a topic. Focus should be on quality of posts not quantity (not that it shouldn’t always be…). I know that when it was first discussed, people said that it was too similar to the morphing chameleon threads, but we don’t have those anymore.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Hmm…that’s an interesting idea.

I like Robert’s idea of putting it under the Paleostuff area. That might work well.

However 100 word minimum seems kind of small, maybe a little bit bigger than that? Or are we trying to limit them to very small posts each?

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
    2. The Muse Academy Student Lounge thread follows the non-nested format now and is supposed to be for longer, less chatty posts, though it doesn’t have a minimum length.

My first reaction to the idea is that an anti-chatroom with a 100-word minimum wouldn’t stay active very long. I could be wrong, of course.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
  23. Oh, and could we have a thread for noting discussing Who’s Posted How Much? I keep wanting to make comments about it, interesting post numbers, (Fishy now has 1,234 posts!) or whatever.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
      1. *ahem* Normally I would reprimand you for possible usage of chatspeak, but I am far too happy to even care! *tralala*

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
    1. I like that idea. I think it would also help bloggers get to know more about each other… When I first came on (and still now, occasionally) I felt so left out with everyone knowing not only my “name,” but everyone else’s; also, everyone had inside jokes and other things that made me feel left out… What was I talking about? Anyway, yeah, let’s do it.

I don’t suppose there will be a Valentine’s Day thread, hm? Not that I really care. It just occurred to me. I don’t even know what would go on there. Maybe I shouldn’t have even posted this.

I don’t know if somebody else mentioned this, or if I already have, but is it possible to show which MBers are logged on?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. I think one of the GAPAs mentioned something about a “map,” which lets you know who’s one and where they are, but it was far to complex.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. As far as I could tell, the map just showed the locations of MBers (technically, that of their IP adresses).

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
    1. Bookgirl_me is also interested, especially if we could go off into Museblogology, for fear of classifying us all as insane.

  25. On Musery loves Company, could there be more colors for the messenger bags? Surprisingly, I don’t think everyone wants a bright yellow bag to take to school. Perhaps white, green, or black?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  26. I had this idea for the Muse-ry Loves Co. when I was helping to plan our trip to NYC: You know those “I [heart] NY” shirts? What about one that looks almost exactly like it, but instead says, “I [heart] MB” ? Just a thought…

    Pie 0

  27. I will repeat my suggestion, to be annoying ensure it is considered: a psychology thread. Thankee kindly.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. That sounds like a good idea, but what would we do? Analyze each other? Analyze famous figures?

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
    2. Hmm…sounds interesting. But beyond discussing psychology (Obviously) can you give us other specific things we would discuss?

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. We could discuss our own psyches or interesting aspects of psychology or basic human psychology or group psychology.

        Squid 0
    3. That sounds interesting. *[insert appropriate numeral]ths* Although I must admit I know almost nothing about psychology….

  28. So, GAPAs, I’d like to point out that the R&R thread is over 300 comments and a bit unwieldy. Hot topics is smaller, but also really long, so could we get new threads at your earliest conveniance, pretty please?

    Pie 0

  29. You know how there’s that arrow at the bottom of threads, that takes you to the top? Would it be possible to put one at the top that took you to the bottom?

  30. I posted this on “Best of the Blog”, but I think it’ll get more attention here, so:

Weetabix! That is something we MUST put on the blog! Sorry, I know I’m not making any sense, so let me tell you a short story:

Once, my family was sitting around the dinner table, bored out of our skulls. (My dad maintains that we were actually in LAX waiting for our flight to Fiji to arrive, but I know he’s wrong .) Anyway, wherever we were, we were extremely bored, and somehow Weetabix came up in conversation. My dad sat up and said, “I’m thinking of a movie where somebody hides under a box.” It turned out being The Wrong Trousers (Wallace and Gromit) and that he said that because the box that Gromit hides under says Weetabix on it. And so it began. Now, whenever we’re bored, we start up a Weetabix puzzle. Somebody says, “I’m thinking of a movie where…” and we have to ask yes-or-no questions about the movie to determine what it is. (But no “cheater” questions that are about the movie itself, not the scene in the movie, like “is it animated.”)

After that not-so-short story, I think that we should bring these puzzles to the blog. Maybe we can create an initial thread with one that the GAPAs make up, and we can all take turns guessing it. What do you think, GAPAs?

    Pie 0

  31. Could the Paleophytes have a “Private: Paleo Ensemble RPG Organizing Thread”? Like the one for RRRs, only for RPGs? If the paleophytes agree, of course. I just think it would be cool to have private RPGs.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. It’s not a bad idea, but I really think that the private RRRs make more sense. RPGs are a fairly recent import into MB, while RRRs have been around for a lot more time.
While an Ensemble RPG sounds like a very cool idea, I don’t think it should be exclusively Paleos.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. I agree there. RRRs are on old revered tradition. RPGs (at least in the density at which we have them) are new upstartish little creatures… *expresses general disgust at RPGs*

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
      2. I agree with Errata. The Ensemble approach would help to maintain a pace and tone that all of the RPGers are satisfied with, but restricting it to the paleophyte threads might cut off some of the more dedicated players.

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
    2. RPGs on the Paleo threads would make them exactly the same as the regular threads.
-blames RPGs for all that is wrong with the world-
      Sorry…I just need a scapegoat.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. No… That’s fine. I, myself, sometimes get frustrated with the recent RPGs, and especially right now when it seems like most of MB is concentrating on Demigod RPG, and forsaking my beloved BA. It seems like RPGs are quietly drifting away from any relevance whatsoever with MuseBlog, and moving into realms where everybody has magical powers of some sort. I don’t know.
Sometimes it seems like I miss a MuseBlog that I was never a part of. I would have loved to be a part of all sorts of RRRs while they were being first written, and the Empowered RPW, and all sorts of things. I miss MuseBloggers that wouldn’t recognize me, if they were to come.
Sometime I need to go read the rest of the RRRs. I read Etheterre, (Speaking of which, Kiwimuncher and I could use some help rewriting….*hint hint*) but I still want to read Searoc and all the others.

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
      1. I may be completely wrong and/or the way I perceive this applies only to me, but psychology seems much less abstract and much easier to understand quickly than philosophy. With philosophy, I find it harder to imagine a situation where one would apply the philosophy that one was speaking of, whereas with psychology it’s easier to apply and even relate to. The observable way that people act is more familiar than an idea on a pedestal that one has never even heard of. With philosophy, people’s morals can get dragged in and there’s the possibility of contention (not that argument is always a bad thing) whereas psychology can be taken from a disinterested view and may be less personal. Psychology, to me, is less intimidating and more quickly learned than philosophy. In short, I like psychology and want a thread for it, and now I shall hit the comment button.

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
        1. I don’t know….I think that to discuss philosophy it might be good to have at least some background knowledge about it, but philosophy you don’t…..

  33. How about a “detailed description of fantastic places” thread, to help us with our writing, where we imagine a setting and then describe it in detail, not as part of a larger story. (although it can inspire one that we would then write about on the more conventional writing threads)

If you don’t know, Top down is where you define what sort of world it is, and continents, and then work on smaller and smaller details.

I beg you not to be long, or I may be asleep. I wonder if there is going to be a thread, but stick around and it may show, I don’t know. My guitar gently weeps for George if there is no thread. In the case of this event, for you blue George, for you blue. He will sit at the computer and shout “Bad machine!” at it. He will call us “A thingie! A fiendish thingie!” and call our RPGs, “Bah. 1. Well, there was a whole series of conversations we had on the R&R – things that we would say to our children/things that if our parents used to go onto MB they would say to us. Then, of course, things we would want our children to see, or things we would never want them to know. And just talk about the next generation of MBers to come, how you think it will have changed by them, what will be different and just generally make ourselves feel old. :)

  36. So, I was searching for my posts with my name in them, and there weren’t that many. Which is when I had a flamablamablous idea: a We Love SudoRandom thread! *is pied*
    Fine, fine… *grumbles*
But I did have another idea: what about a We Love _____ thread, where if a MuseBlogger was feeling down, they could post about it on that thread, and other MuseBloggers could post all the things that they like about that person there. I don’t know, I just thought it could be nice sometimes, if you ever needed a boost. Of course, there could be some overlap with other threads, but you never know. People like?
((Oh, and I’m secretly hoping for votes for that first thread I mentioned, you know. ;) ))

    1. OMG! That’s a GREAT idea! (A We Love Starr Thread – ingenious! Glad you like it too! *is also pied*) Kidding…maybe.

But anyway, to your second idea and your second idea only… ;) that’s great! I definitely vote for it! And, although it may not work so well, we could always also just go there even when en isn’t feeling down just to boot someone’s general self confidence when they’ve done something particularly amazing *points to self* , you know?

But anyway – count me in!

    2. I dunno, if I was feeling depressed, I think a “We Love Enceladus” thread would feel sorta fake, like the stuff you get in a guidance counselor’s office.

      Squid 0
      1. I had to read your post five times before I got what you were saying. Now that I do get it though, I agree with you. Maybe just the second idea, Sudo, and I know you were so happy about it.

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
      2. Well, no, it wouldn’t be like that…besides, I think that would be sort of embarrassing actually in truth. But a general We Love _____ Thread! seems pretty good to me or a Comfort thread like Giminator suggested.

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
    3. I semi-second that idea, but I don’t think a new thread is necessary each time someone feels down. However, I fully support a ‘comfort thread’ where MBers can go if they’re feeling a little under the weather, and need simply mention it, where other Mbers will swoop down to help them. Like a giant family.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
    4. Isn’t the whole blog one big comfort room? You can rant on “Rants and Plaints” or bemoan your romantic problems on R&R, or just order hot chocolate with extra marshmallows at the H&H. As far as I can tell, MBers are always ready to rush to one another’s support.

  37. Do we have a Nostalgia Thread by any chance? Specifically for conversations like the one that came up on the Random Thread? Or would that be too depressing? (Or too exciting, either one…) I mean, I guess it could get depressing, but every once in awhile you just feel like you need to think about it, right?

If you don’t think the thread would fill up enough or if the Random Thread is well enough equipped for those types of conversations, I’m fine with that. Just wondering though. Thanks as always.

  38. GAPAs, after browsing Wikipedia on chess variants, I found a very interesting version of chess. Alice Chess!

The rules are the same as normal chess, except there are 2 boards. At the start, one board is empty, and the other is normal layout. Any move made by a piece flips to the other board, “through the looking glass”.

Would you be able to create that in the chess program, and would someone like to play a (friendly) game to see how it works out?

I also came up with my own variation on chess. I like to call it onion chess. The set up and pieces are the same, but whenever a piece is captured, instead of just vanishing, it moves down a type of piece. If a queen is captured, it becomes a rook. If a rook is captured, it becomes a bishop. If a bishop is captured, it becomes a pawn. If a pawn is captured, then it just is gone.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
        1. We can set the board up in any starting position (that’s how we created Turbo Chess), but we can’t extend the game to additional boards or invent new pieces. (The extra pieces in Capablanca chess are part of the original program.)

I like the idea of Onion Chess, but I don’t see exactly how it would work. Where would a transformed piece go? The capturing piece would be occupying its square.

          Pie 0
          Squid 0
          1. Yeah, AM pointed that out. I think it would go back to the starting position for that piece. When something’s turned into a pawn, it goes kingside. If something is occupying that square, then it gets shifted forward/right/left/back.

            Pie 0
            Squid 0
            1. In Onion Chess, it would be possible (though very unlikely) to be checkmated on your own turn.

  39. Since the Demigod RPG is dying, if not dead, a Dragon or Fantasy Creature RPG? (I’ve been a bit obsessed with dragons lately…probably because of How to Train Your Dragon.)

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. We have so many RPGs, and I hate the way crowds of MBers simply folk from one to the next current one and throw away the old just like that and give up… We need more devotion and less RPGs, so that we can focus on the current ones. </rant

That wasn't aimed at you, LBK, or anyone in particular. I'm just feeling kinda cynical today (I tried to post on a fan forum for a tv show I like, and spent a half an hour trying to find the "post comment" part. Yep, I'm a genius. EPIC fail.)

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. Sorry…it’s just, I suggested a Fantasy RPG awhile ago, but people said something like “We just got the Demigod RPG, why not wait a bit?” and I did. So, now that less people are posting, I was just thinking… :(

        Pie 0

          1. Yeah, but I was thinking centered more around creatures. AND THE Magic RPG is slowly dying.

            Pie 0
            Squid 0
              1. That’s okay (the shouting, I mean). It’s slowly dieing? So is every other RPG. It’s the whole cycle that makes me want to throw up-we just pick up some idea, kid around with it, and then it dies after a few threads, despite various revival efforts. And then the whole cycle starts again, the only things changing are some names and the titles. I just wish… yes, I know that we’re just playing around and all, but why can’t we create worlds that work? Every time, you kid yourself into thinking that this one will be better. This time, there is something more. Your character will develop, the storyline will workout, the n00b drawing the wrath of the RPers and future editors will show up omnescient and you won’t need to fight your way through ens grammar, captitalisation and inability to comprehend how it infuriates you* and, theoretically, it will go on and on through generations of MBers, as constant as matter itself in classical science. That last reason is why we don’t make a real plotline, because we’re afraid of it dying. That just makes it drag on and on. Then, in a few months or years, the little crowd that stays after the first excitement fades and dwindles until one or two mourn it alone. Nothing’s sadder than a dead dream, especially if you’re the only one left. People think that that’s the way RPGs are. I disagree. Yes, that’s the way they are. But RPGs are our worlds and our games. Why can’t we create ones that work? We control them, why can’t we set their destiny once and for all. Yes, they’re just games. But the way they just fade and die, forgotten, is wrong. What about the jokes and the catchphrases and all that which will just disappear in cyberspace, lost forevermore? I consider myself a bit of a writer, and I’ve noticed that it’s hardest to end a story. So? We’re MBers. If anyone can fix this sort of thing, it’s us, and…

Sorry, that ended up very off-topic, but… I really wanted to say that. Maybe I should just leave RPGs. However, I don’t want too. Not yet. What we have-written, dreamed, created- is worth gighting for and worth fixing.

*I was guilty, guilty and guilty once. Everyone is.

                1. Yes, it is hard to end a story. I’m (trying) to write one, and I can’t seem to end it quite right. First it was too short, now it seems to be getting to long, and… *sigh* Gighting? What’s that?

  50. I think that MB should hold a virtual Yuri’s Night party… in April of NEXT year. I say this because:
    1) We’d never organize in time for April 12th of this year.
    2) Seeing how much resistance there was to a Moon Landing Day party in the summer, I realize a late March-early April party is never going to be approved unless it’s a one-time thing that never happens again. Thus, as next year is the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight, I feel it should be the one time this party takes place.

  51. 87.1- On the blog. I did some brainstorming which is saved on my other computer, but I’ll post it once I get home. The basic idea would be that it’s a 60s-retro-futuristic theme, with everything reinforcing the illusion that the ballroom is on a space station.

    Pie 0

  52. Okay, here’s what I throught up, all ideas subject to suggestion, change, and evolution…

Who: Any MuseBloggers who wish to attend. If you wish to assume the persona of a technician, astronaut, or spy or just create some sort of backstory for yourself, you’re welcome, but it’s not mandatory.

    When: March 20th to April 17th, 2011.

Where: On the Yuri’s Night thread. Within the classic Muse Academy ballroom, decorated to resemble a room aboard Space Station Odyssey in all ways possible.

    Food:

Décor: 2001: A Space Odyssey is the general reference. 2011 as seen by 1961. A large ballroom entered through sliding doors in the Star Trek fashion. Models and framed photographs showing the highlights of spaceflight and SF in the past 50 years decorate the room. (Yes, lots of gorgeous Hubble shots) “In-story”, we are aboard a rotating space station, and large “windows” (Perhaps floor-to-ceiling) will show the rest of the station, the Earth below, the moon and stars, and every now and then, shuttles and cargo ships flying up to dock with the station. (The windows being just TV screens and all of this being stock footage or CGI.) Perhaps announcements over a PA periodically to announce the “dockings”.

Music: A live band, playing a mix of 60s classics, New Age electronica, and any other favorites requested. Any MBer who wishes to drop in and play with the band may.

Dress: Futuristic formal. Black suits and ties, glow-in-the-dark dresses, neatly pressed jumpsuits, shirtsleeves with pocket protectors and skinny ties, Starfleet dress uniform, and the like. Go for a 60s feel, but nothing too hippie.

The goings-on: To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s pioneering spaceflight, and the completion of Space Station Odyssey, various distinguished employees from the space agencies of the world have been invited to enjoy a civilized evening of dancing, music, intelligent conversation, and Earthwatching. (Binoculars provided at windows by wungs.) But keep on your toes, as befits the anniversary of such a prominent Cold War event, espionage and intrigue are in the air…

  55. I’d like to put in a request for a General Discussion thread. Back in 2007, the Newcomer’s Thread was more of a mish-mash of discussions, where the neophytes could really have in-depth discussions. Then there was the Incredible Morphing Chameleon Thread (heehee), but as I recall, I felt too intimidated by all the veterans that I didn’t stray from the NC thread until January 08. I dunno, it just seems like a General, all-purpose thread would be good. Like the random thread, but designed for newcomers with tons of questions – the new rules of the Neophyte thread make it so it’s more like “Hi neo.” “Oh, hi.” “Well, meetcha on the Random thread.” “Wait, what? Hello? You still – dang it!”

  61. I have an idea for a serious thread that I’d really love to see.

Today during second hour, all of the students in my school were called down to the auditorium. All of the lights were off and everyone on the stage was wearing dark colors and looked solemn. After everyone was seated, a presentation came on the screen that we had set up onstage.

They showed a slideshow of dozens of horrible, rude, degrading comments posted on Formspring, Facebook, Myspace and other messaging sites. They were made to hurt the people who received them, saying things like” you’re a fat whore”, “nobody likes you”, and “why don’t you just die”, and those are just the dumbed-down versions. At the end, the presenters revealed that all of these pictures of comments were screenshots, taken from the Formsprings, Facebooks, etc. of girls from our school. I had had an idea that that was what they were, but I never thought they’d show up.

After that, we had an open-mike session, in which time I heard about twenty stories from girls who go to my school. There was some really tough stuff, some terrible experiences with other peers making fun on them, putting them down and driving them even to the brink of suicide. There were some girls who had been bullied for their entire lives. I just felt really bad because I knew that I had been mean to people before, and was so afraid that I could have had this effect on those people and never realized it…I know that bullying is bad and happens all the time, but the assembly effected the majority of our student body in a detrimental way.

I’d love to have a thread to discuss (if we don’t already have one) bullying, whether online and in person, where people can share their stories, get comfort, and so that we can discuss ways to try and eliminate backstabbing and hurtful behavior, if not only within our own circles of friends.
