MuNoWriMo, Part 1

MuseBlog Novel Writing Month lasts from February 1 through the end of March 2. (It spills over into March because February is such a short month.)

MBers who couldn’t take part in National Novel Writing Month, or who have unfinished business from that month, or who are gluttons for novelistic punishment are welcome to take part and report on their progress here.

Everybody, I strongly suggest you do this. It’s fun!
Anyways, no novel for me. iPhone app time instead. It’s all been mapped out all ready. Gnatt chart = win.
Oh, I’m still doing the 100 miles statonary bike as well.
    Progress reports:
    percent done with app: 0%
    miles done: 0

    more updates coming soon.

Right. I’m not writing anything until I finish Sense and Sensibility, because I really want/need to finish it by tomorrow. I’m only trying for a thousand a day, and given that I could get at least two thousand in, usually somewhat more, during NaNo, I think I can catch up without too much difficulty.
Of course, I had more free time in November due to the lack of a dog…
Anyway, off to read, so I can write sooner.

Right. Now the book is finished, I just need to do a bit of school, and then I’ll be free to write. *sigh* A thousand demands on my time…
In further news, I’ve decided that though I’m using previously-written prose as a prologue/launching board, I’m not counting it in my word count.

c+p’d from the last random thread:

Going to go with something completely different from the story I do in Nano, because this has even more freedom. I’m going to try not one story but a series of interconnected scenes, each a fragment but when read together at once adding up to something greater. It’s something I’ve wanted to try for a long time now, and I think I could really make it work (more than linear writing, which is hard for me), but I’ve never had time to try it before. It’s slightly inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s Tralfamedorian (oh god no idea ont he spelling there) literature in Slaughterhouse Five and the poem “Spaces” by Arkaye Kierulf and partly just who I write normally.

    Need… To… Keep… Writing…
I have 367 words so far, and way too little time, especially since I want to do some school before bed, since I really don’t want to be behind going into tomorrow. In schoolwork; much as I hate to say it, MuNo takes second priority right now. I’m going to try, and I’ll try hard. But if MuNo starts meaning I can’t do the things I need to do, MuNo will be the first to go.

    It has:

The Butterfly effect, change something small, and the universe is different.

Ontological Paradox (Your knowledge/ an item is passed to your previous self)

    Teenage angst. (Gotta love it)

Destiny and depression (And denial of the former)

Blue People (Don’t worry. The story stays on Earth)

And much, much more insanity, including *deep breath* The Middle Ages, Space Stations, time travel, plans going horribly wrong, everybody messing up, altered futures, and that’s only just the beginning.

I can write more this evening, I suppose. Gah.
And a character that wasn’t intended to be anything, I just introduced to fulfill a purpose, has now become a much larger character, and with a few sentences, wormed her way into a large part in the plot. And I’m having trouble motivating myself.

  33. /gradster(1)/ says:

Actually… I need to stop writing. Not that I started- just… I can’t do this right now. My grades are not optimal- and though they’re not bad and that’s not disastrous, per se, first of all, this detracts from the specialness of NaNoWriMo, and second of all, I really need to focus if I want to have a chance of getting into Middlebury. Which I do.

So no writing. Running, maybe yes. I missed today because when I went downstairs in my shorts and all, I found that our treadmill is covered in a mountain of stuff that was not there last I checked. So I’ll be either digging it out or just running extra at school.

Anyone else think it would be cool to get a Muser team entered in a marathon?

Oh, and I forgot to mention: I’ve christened this little gig we’ve got going MuRuRuMo. Or MuBiBiMo, in The Man for Aeiou’s case. You can guess what it means.

    Goal for today: 4,000.
As you can see, I’m way behind. And lacking enthusiasm. I don’t know why, but the magic of NaNo just isn’t there. Maybe when I got up the first day and didn’t write because I had something else I really wanted to do, and that had a much closer deadline, destroyed the possible enthusiasm. Maybe I need the pep talks, word count updates, shiny NaNo site, and all more then I think I do. I don’t know. But in any case, it just isn’t working.
Not that I’m quitting. I’m just switching my project. Instead of what I was planning to do, I’m going to work on editing my NaNo. I’ll try for finishing editing completely by the end of the month. I mean, enough to call it second draft. Completely finishing editing isn’t going to happen for some time.
