Awkward silences aren’t worth being afraid of. They’re simply part of life — and a very short part of it at that (they only seem long). Anyway, from what I’ve heard and experienced, the awkward silences at kokons evaporate almost before you have time to notice whether they exist.

I usually only fill awkward silences one way: obsess over Star Trek. Which at the very least leads to an argument over whether pointy ears are hot or not and occasionally gets me a new recruit for my army of fangirls leads to an interesting conversation.
Cute kitty! However, with “Schrodinger’s cat is dead” T-shirt, vaguely creepy kitty. Possibly zombified kitty. Especially as its eyes are green-flashing in the light and it’s reaching out a paw as if to grab and eat your brains. Actually, now I’m convinced that all pirates own zombie pets, such as zombie parrots, zombie cats, and zombie shipworms. (See, this is why I should be allowed on KoKons. More Musers should live in the Bay Area.)
