Movies
Dancergirl13’s idea. We haven’t had a movie thread in more than a year, and back then it was combined with books. Do Musers even watch movies? There’s only one way to find out…

Life, the universe, pies, hot-pink bunnies, world domination, and everything

Answer: Outside of a few (movies), we don’t really much.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
H2G2 the movie, inferior to the book but still OK.
haven’t been able to find a copy of Life of Brian to watch yet but haven’t really looked
I can’t think of anything else.
last movie seen (in theater) that I can remember: Akeelah and the Bee, last summer
movie wants to see: I have a DVD of The American President from holiday 2005 that I haven’t seen yet.
Am I the first one..?? *gasp*
If I’m not, I am embarrassed.
Movies movies movies…….. Ummmmm. I watch movies…… sometimes.
I’m the only one of my friends that likes star wars.
Movies… hmmm. I haven’t seen one in a while.
Does anyone like Marx Brothers?
And I have just been soaring on wings of cold silicon through dusty gigabytes of time, searching through ruins of threads long forgotten, and I saw the Muse/Harry Potter Fan Fiction. Then I got to thinking… What if the Muses showed up in other books and movies? Such as… DL forbid… Eragon?? Just a little suggestion for any of Our Exalted Administrator Dudes/Dudettes who are feeling creative and/or slightly evil today.
I think Muse fanfiction has huge potential, but Musers will have to write it. We adult types don’t have time. That’s why you haven’t seen the third installment of my Muses-meet-the-Order-of-the-Phoenix story, in which Mimi meets Draco Malfoy.
4- I see. Mimi meets Draco? Uh-oh.
In that case, could you open the Muse Fanfiction thread again?
[Done! Here it is. –Robert]
The last movie I watched was The Prestige. It was good, I thought, except the killing of all those birds.
My favorite movies of all time:
Master and Commander
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Mouse Hunt
Is it coincidence that those all begin with M?
Favorite movies:
Winged Migration
Fly Away Home
The Lord of the Rings
Two of them have something in comon, and the other one has something IN IT on the same subject. Can you guess? Heheheheh…
8)
watching the 13th warrior right now. awesome viking movie.
Saw “Blades of Glory” in theaters. Was LARGE WASTE OF MONEY!!!! best part of movie was ad for “At World’s End” the 3rd POTC movie. (Pirates of The Carribean)
The ad was amazing, and I sooooo can’t wait.
We should have an favorite actors thread(actresses too!) Where we can list our favorite actors/actresses and why we like them other than we think they are cute/pretty
I WILL START!
*Christian Bale (AMAZING. and cute. The Newsies was the best movie ever and I love every song in it and oh my goodness I will ramble on and on so STOPPING NOW!)
*Reese Witherspoon (Shows that not only can she play lighthearted and lightheaded characters [Legally Blonde], but she can be serious, and win Oscars. [Walk The Line]
*Heath Ledger (A Knight’s Tale: other best movie ever. I’ve probably watched it 15 times. “It’s called a lance. Helloooo”If you haven’t seen it, you are being seriously deprived)
*Harrison Ford (STAR WARS! INDIANA JONES!)
Hehe.. I went over the top, didn’t I?
Oh well. There should be one.
7- Birds.
The Lord of the Rings is very good. Not as good as the books, but often more dramatic. Think the skeleton falling into the well.
Favorite Movies
*A Knight’s Tale
*The Newsies
*The Parent Trap
*Pirates of the Carribean
*Finding Nemo- Oh. Yes. Just keep swimming.
*The Princess Bride- My Name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
There are more… I just can’t remember them.
Oh, I went to Charlotte’s Web the other night. Mostly for my little sister, who wanted to go but not by herself. (We were house-sitting for someone who lives in town.) So I went, and so did my mom, and it was the most pointless use of my money I can think of, short of tossing into a gutter. However, I did get some Dr Pepper out of it, so it wasn’t all bad.
The worst movie of all time is Howl’s Moving Castle, though now that I’m over my obsession, I could watch it without being more than silently resentful.
If they butcher Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell I’m gonna DIE.
The funniest worst movie is Quatermass II, not because it’s meant to be funny, but because it’s so old the “horror” is anything but.
I like Wallace and Gromit a lot.
11- The Princess Bride! Hilarious!
yes!!!!! princess bride!!!!!!! i luv it!!!!!!!! AS YOU WISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the inconvienient truth is good too it’s. suprising about what were doing to our enviroment. eregon was a huge let down. harry potter is ok but i perfer the books. i also like lord of the rings. monty python is funny. I AM NOT YET DEAD!!!!!!!!!
Oh man. I love movies. All movies. Including The Princess Bride, even though the book was not as good.
I watched a musical last night. It had Catherine Deneuve, George Shakiras (Riff in West Side Story) and Gene Kelly in it, and it was made in France in 1967. Wow. Lots of costumes, lots of scenery, the two main characters couldn’t dance and had truly incredible wigs, and you didn’t need to speak French to understand what people were saying. It was hilarious. I’m not even kidding. George Shakiras had to pretend he liked girls, which was good, and speak French, and Gene Kelly had to sing in French. He was the only person in the movie who could dance. It was a horrible musical. It included the two Honda guys, the young sailor who wants to be a painter, a kid named Booboo (Let’s go steal some PICNIC BASKETS!!) who was a pain in the ass, and other stuff. Very stylized.
Here are some of my favorite flicks:
-A Lonely Place To Be
-The Philadelphia Story (NOT High Society, because only Satchmo saved that movie’s butt)
-Ben-Hur, of course
-Anything with Star Trek
-2001: A Space Odyssey
-The Importance of Being Earnest (Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, Judi Dench, Reese Witherspoon)
-The Mummy
Prailius Canix, the Marx Brothers rule! The best movie of all time was dances with wolves, even if it was very, very, sad. Cows Rule! (my new sign off code)
My favorite movies:
-Shrek & Shrek 2
-The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (the newish one)
-Cars
-Night at the Museum
Um…I don’t really watch very many movies at the movie theater so that would be about it.
Movies I am looking at and maybe watching when they come out:
-Shrek the Third (but probably not…sequels aren’t usually as good as the origional)
Movies I desprately am waiting for:
-The Chronicles of Narnia: Price Caspian (comes out May 16, 2008-Waaah!)
-The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (comes out 2010ish…WAAAAAAH!!!)
Some of my favorite movies are (not in order):
1. Harry Potter
2. Lord of the Rings
3. Pirates of the Carribean
4. Princess Bride
5. Phantom of the Opera
6. Happy Feet
7. Chronicles of Narnia
and I would say Eragon, but seriously, the movie was horrible. I like the books so much better! And I’m sure that there are a bunch of other movies that I like a lot, but I can’t think of any right now…
I love the Princess Bride!!! It’s sooooo funny! I am getting the DVD probably tomorrow in exchange for Eragon which I got for Easter and am returning!!! YAY!!! The special effects are horrible, but the movie is AWESOME! Did you know that it probably was the basis of a lot of movies created today? For example, Zorro is based off of it (you can tell that just by looking at the main characters). I can’t think of any more movies based off of it, but my friend told me a whole bunch. I’m sure I’ll remember later.
18-No, it’s based off Zorro. Zorro was a book before it was a movie and before William Goldman was born.
I also liked the Kill Bill films, American Graffiti, Lawrence of Arabia, Romancing the Stone, Jewel of the Nile, etc.
Eragon- I agree, the movie stunk. I can’t believe they cut Solembum and Angela! I mean, those characters were almost the only original ideas Paolini had, and they were actually pretty cool!
lillers i like Star Wars to
i like the Pink Panther films
Can’t remember who Solembum was, but Angela was cool.
Oh I just remembered. Solembum was the cat, right?
Ahh, The Princess Bride. It’s a tradition among my friends to watch it at least once a year. We’ve seen it so many times, I think a couple of them were mouthing the words throughout the entire movie. I’m not kidding.
Can you believe they’re making another Indiana Jones movie? I mean, Harrison Ford is so old.
ok, this is totally unrelated, but here goes: we need more posts on the Manga/Anime thread ( https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=716 ) so that we can get a new one. if we get to 100 posts, then we can have a new Manga/Anime thread!!! come on, peoples!! we can do it!!!
22-Have you seen shot in the dark? Thats not as funny as the origional.
I like Shes the Man. Anyone else?
25-I know!! Steven Speilberg has nerve. Maybe its Indiana Jones beating up people in the Old Folks Home… lol
i take extreme pleasure in watching bad movies. such as b-grade horror films. ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES! yay that was horrible in a hilariouse way.
recently i have seen:
to kill a mocking bird (with school)
a mighty wind
fawlty towers(not realy a movie)
the music man (the worst version on the face of the planet)
some old walace and gromet
28- For his birthday, my friend Josh got a box set of really bad horror films from the 50’s. Things like “ATTACK OF THE GIANT MUTANT SHREWS!” Seriously.
Some of my favorite movies are
The Princess Bride (of course!!!!)
Mystery Science Theater movies, especially Pod People
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Lord of the Rings
FernGully
Back to the Future
Miyazaki movies
and I like Charlie Chaplin and the Marx Brothers, too
I actually enjoy movies quite a bit.
27- I have to say I can’t stand She’s the Man, the original Twelfth Night is so much better!
28- Have you ever heard of Plan 9 from Outer Space? Look it up on youtube, there is a sequence of the worst parts from this notoriously bad sci-fi movie.
Princess Bride’s another movie that’s common knowledge here and is good It should’ve gone in my first post.
28- Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. And anything in Mystery Science Theater 3000 (am I remembering the title correctly?)
Anyone seen Murder by Death? T’is a very funny old movie making fun of murder mysteries, though it is a very confuzing mystery movie. I also love the Princess Bride. Catch Me If You Can is great.
I lurve Marx Brothers.
-Princess Bride
-Anything Pixar
-Monty Python
-MST3000
-Miyazaki
28-I saw To Kill a Mockingbird with my parents. My father was the only one who didnt cry.
30-Isnt the pod people like the movie The Body Snachers? I love MPATHolyGrail TOO!! Twelth Night is much better, I know, but this one is modern. Like they dont use thus and thee that much.
33-I have like all the Marx Brothers!!! My fave brother is Harpo.
28- Yeah, that’s what I meant about Quatermass.

Who is Dancergirl13? *pies*
19- I’m not arguing ’cause it would be a waste of my time, but I disagree and will argue it no further. (by the way, Princess Bride is a book too. Duh.)
20- I know! They are AWESOME! I think they did put Angela in there, but they portrayed her HORRIBLY! And I loved Solembum! He is awesome and one of my favorite characters.
24- Actually, he’s a werecat, but same difference.
25- ANOTHER one?! Wow.
I can’t wait for the third PotC! The second one I didn’t like though. It wasn’t as funny as the first one, and nothing was resolved! Yeah, I’m not going to go all into this right now.
Adios! (for probably the thousandth time I’ve posted Adios! on MuseBlog.)
Even though I haven’t seen the first two, I want to see the third PotC!! Looks AWESOME!!
38- Nah, me neither.
I like movies, esp: Star wars,(2, 3, 5,) Pirates of the caribbean (1-2) irobot, the Brothers Grimm, Dreamer, the Fantastic 4, Night at the Museum (notice it says muse in museum), National treasure, Hidalgo, Elizabethtown, Men in Black… who am I kidding, i love movies!
*oops*! Did i 4get 2 mention: Harry Potter, LOTR, Akheela and the Bee, Eragon, Shut up and Sing, anything romantic, comedy, or romantic comedy, Zorro, You’ve got Mail, Finding Nemo, Charlotte’s Web, Curse of the Were Rabbit, March of the Penguins, Bridge to Terebithia, Tuck Everlasting, the Thief Lord….
Oh yeah! I forgot the Princess Bride, Shrek, POTC, Shrek 2, POTC, School of Rock, POTC 2, Star Wars (im running out!)
…And i like seabuiscit and Mulan. And brother Bear (wheeze, wheeze) and Over the Hedge,Open Season, and POTC.
Dear Museblog:
I have noticed a critical error in your Museblog; you 4got the Daylight Savings time change! I know this is off topic, but could
you please acknowledge my distress in this slight flaw in your
Oh Holy Mag website.
Thanx!
MissSwann2223 (aka Elizabeth Swann undercover.)
33-I like Marx Brothers too. They’re soooo funny.
Favorite movies:
The Lord of the Rings
The Princess Bride
Pirates of the Caribbean
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (highly addictive)
Fiddler on the Roof
The Sound of Music
30s horror movies-Frankenstein, etc. “The Old Dark House” with Boris Karloff is pretty good.
I KNOW there are loads more but my mind is completely blank.
Favorite TV shows:
old Star Treks
Doctor Who (both new and old)
Good Eats (not sure if that counts)
Planet Earth-sort of like what would happen if National Geographic was turned into a documentary
Wooster and Jeeves, or maybe it’s Jeeves and Wooster- anyways, I love P. G. Wodehouse
Monk
All Creatures Great and Small
Most Hated TV shows and movies (WARNING: these are potentially toxic shows intended for young children such as my younger siblings)
Dora the Explorer (If you have any younger siblings, then you may know that this horrific creature’s normal tone of voice is a nerve-shredding shriek)
Barney (barney is a dinosaur/from our imagination…)
Max and Ruby (bunnies-need I say more?)
Noddy (never mind-I can’t take it)s
Barbie movies (self-explanatory)
Bye!
P. S. If the rant annoyed anyone, my apologies.
34-Pod People is an MST3K movie. I haven’t seen The Body Snatchers, but Pod People by MST3K is really hilarious.
And modern language isn’t the only problem with She’s the Man: the acting was almost unbearable, the “some are born great…” line thrown in at the end was groan-worthy, and the entire subplot with Sir Toby Belch, Maria, Aguecheek, and Malvolio was entirely left out, and that was one of the best parts. Sorry, I just really like Shakespeare.
34- why did you cry?
anyone seen PAPERCLIPS? it’s a realy good documentary about the holocaust
MissSwann2223- You’re probably in a different time zone. I think Museblog is on central time or something like that. It’s an hour behind here.
46- Good list. I love Jeeves and Wooster (one of the few times a book was sucesfully adapted to another medium, I’ve got it playing on youtube right now. The books are still better, though) and Monk is fabulous. But neither are movies, so I’ll refrain from expanding on the subject.
48- Yes, I’ve seen Paperclips. To be honest, it’s not strictly about the holocaust. It’s about a holocaust project done by a school out in (I think) Tennessee. It is touching, though.
I ADORE Jeeves and Wooster. It’s the best. Ever. Period. I also like Chef!, The Red Green Show, Star Trek (any and all) and, of course Doctor Who. I’m a much bigger fan of the DW radio show, though. I didn’t really like All Creatures Great and Small. James Herriot, or Alf Wight, rather, was SCOTTISH.
I saw Shakespeare in Love yesterday. Made me want to read Romeo and Juliet.
I also saw Garden State last week. I prefer Shakespeare in Love.
Also (oh, god, a lot of movies) I saw Other Peoples’ Lives, which was fascinating, despite being in German. I really recommend it if there’s a theatre showing it where you live.
Anyone else like the movie Mirrormask?
52- I do!
TV past and present:
Boston Legal
The West Wing
Doctor Who (we should have a thread)
Star Trek(actually, books mostly, and whatever old tapes I can find, Enterprise wasn’t really that good)
I’ve seen play versions of some of these things, like I saw the revival of Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway around 2004, and last month I saw Importance of being Ernest (at SUNY).
51- you mean Romeo and Ethel the pirate’s daugher? Lol.
my favorite movies…
uhhhh
I like Bend it Like Beckham, Garden State, Titanic, The Basketball Diaries, The Departed (see a theme in the last three… anyone? no? the next one might be a hint), Catch me if you can, Millions, Quinceañera, Whale Rider, LOTR, POTC, The Fifth Element, Gosford Park, Dogma, The Matrix, Strictly Ballroom, Ferris Beuller’s Day off, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Wierd Science, St. Elmo’s fire (another theme! whadda ya know…) I won’t continue, I think it’ll take too much space.
ok, so this movie just came out, it’s called Premonition and it has Sandra Bullock. whatever you do, do not go and waste your money on this movie. My friend and I did and we had to walk out of the theater lest we throw up. just don’t see it. Not even close to worth it.
55- I love Whale Rider. Out of the other ones you mentioned I’ve only seen Millions and The Departed. (And of course LOTR and POTC.)
56-mm that was good,.
55-good movies! dogma! yeah!
i watch a lot of movies. dont really have favorites. but recently a really good one i saw was umm. “keeping mum” also just saw summat called boondock saints. good actually. likeing actio flicks helps, but it was really good.
I didn’t like millions too much. It was kind of creepy in a different way from the book, and my brother got quite scared when we watched it.
51-Shakespeare In Love was a fabulous movie. I liked it very much.
55-Bend It Like Beckham wasn’t bad, and neither was Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, or Weird Science (Oingo Boingo theme song!). However, Pretty In Pink sucked.
Has anyone seen the new version of The Wind In The Willows? It focuses mainly on the escapades of Toad, but it’s fabulous. Especially the Toad, and Mole. Ratty didn’t have as big as a part and Badger was just okay. It was still a fabulous movie.
Christian Bale! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I adore Newsies!
I love the Marx Brothers too. Nobody I know has a clue who they are. Harpo is my favorite.
20-Actually, they didn’t cut Angela, they just totally messed her up. Eragon was SUCHABADMOVIETHEONLYFUNPARTWASMAKINGFUNOFITDONTWATCHITUNLESSYOUWANTTOBEREALLYMAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ahem. Sorry.
my favorite movies(with quotes!):
The Princess Bride
‘Inconcievable!’ (plus a bunch more!)
Tuck Everlasting
‘Don’t be afraid of death, Winnie. Be afraid of the unlived life’
The Chronicles of Narnia:The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (New one, w/Liam Neeson)
‘He’s not a tame lion.’
Newsies
too many favorite quotes to name…
Pirates of the Carribean (the second one isn’t as good)
‘savvy?’
A Walk to Remember
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (more disturbing than funny, but I enjoyed it)
‘everything in this room is eatable. Even I am eatable. But that is called cannibalism, dear little children, and it is frowned upon in most societies’
Sense and Sensibility
Pride and Prejudice (the Colin Firth one and the Keira Knightley one)
The Importance of Being Earnest (w/Colin Firth, Rupert Everett, etc.)
Fiddler on the Roof
Godspell
The list goes on….
36-Alll righty then… I like the killer parents one lol
46-Boris Karloff is a greatt actor. He was in a Walter Mitty movie or something. DORA IS AN ALIEN!!! She was like “ok say rojo……………………Good Job! Thats Right!” And all I said was azul.
48-I cried when they hung that guy when he didnt do anything. Thats racisim for you.
50-I havent seen Star Trek, but somebody who was an actor in it used to live in the woods (kind of woods) behind my house. My friend’s parents managed the estate! It was a girl I think.
55-I like Bend It Like Beckham too! Kiara Knightly (Jules) and The-Girl-Whos-Name-I-Cant-Pronounce (Jess) both had their breakthrough’s there. Jess now plays Nihla in ER and Kiara is a model or something. Whale Rider was Kiesha Castle Heus’ breakthrough too. She plays Mary in the Nativity.
61-I want to see Bend It Like Beckham. What’s it about?
62-There is this Indian girl who loves to play soccer. But her parents wont let her play. So she secretly joines a girls team and befrends Jules (another player) and tells her parents that she has a summer job. Meanwhile, Jules and Jess have fallen in love with their coach, Joe. Jess kisses him, and Jules gets all mad and lectures Jess about love. Jules mother hears “you dont know anything about love, youve betrayed me Jess you really hurt me” and starts to think her daughters a lezzie. Then Jess’ parents find out about her soccer playing, and well…. oh look it up on wiki.
http:// en. wikipedia. org/ wiki/ Bend_It_ Like_ Beckham
take out the spaces
63-Thanks!
The Triplets of Belleville! It’s hilarious! And the more times you watch it, the more details you notice.
Hmm. I just saw Night at the Museum, that was funny. Eragon was terrible.
Uhg. I offered to take my sister to the movies tomorrow so now I’m roped into seeing the new Will Ferrell movie, Blades of Glory.
67 i want to c that!! tell me if its good
I wasn’t sure where to put this, or if somebody has made on in the past, but I have invented a thread-rating system:
A: Awesome for anybody. These threads are perfectly safe for anybody to visit.
B: Bad for babies. These threads are relatively safe, but those under the age of about one should be careful.
C: Caution recommended. Some material may not be suitable for those under nine.
D: Dangerous for those under 12.
E: Especially dangerous. Not suitable for those under 16.
F: Frighteningly ferocious. Do not enter unless you are an adult. (hopefully there won’t be any of those)
I will post each rating as soon as I see the thread. You may comment on my choice, or post your own rating, but I will be posting mine in bold so people will know which one is my rating. Thanks! *sends pie*
69- I don’t get it. You’re not 16 yet, how would you go on the thread? Also, there shouldn’t be inappropriate threads on MB.
70 – Someone older would have to rate it for the younger ones. Unfortunantly there are. There was a breif discussion on the details of homosexuality on the religions v. 2007.2 thread, something that could scar people for life. That could be a D. I doubt there will be any E’s because the GAPAs would zap stuff that was that bad. I rate this thread an A . Or maybe a B .
Oh and one more thing. Very good idea. Do that on new threads, that would be very helpful.
Oh, now I’m scared. Really. I’m over 12, but still.
60-w00t! Im over 12!! I can get on D rated stuff. Well no one should really be allowed on anything under that.
73 – Don’t go there. I will regret my visit for a looooooooooong time.
I would go on the thread before anything was said, and rate it by the title and what I think the GAPAs would let through.
Or maybe the GAPAs could rate it, or change the rating according to what they moderate. Though if they’re already moderating bad stuff, then maybe not.
Here is an upgraded list of my favorite movies:
The Triplets of Belleville
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Master and Commander
The Princess Bride
Mouse Hunt
The Pirates of the Carribean- Only the first one, though.
The Lord of the Rings
The Hornblower movies
Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Whale Rider
The Thief Lord (sort of)
Mary Poppins (sort of)
And lots more I can’t think of.
Watching Borat for the third time. [Spoiler information retroactively snipped. –Administrators] Priceless.
71: that won’t scar people. Grow up!!
DLOD, check out some of Gerard Butler’s movies. Very metal:
300
Attila
Beowulf and Grendel
and a loads more.
77 – Good idea. They can go on all the threads, since they’re adults!
79 – Did I really need to know that? Rating jumped up to a D , maybe.
80 – Well I just proved you wrong because that did scar me. Ha!
I rate this thread down to a C .
By the way, did you see my post on the Religions thread?
Um, I’m suprised no one has said this yet, but I don’t think MB should have ratings. It would change the atmosphere of everything. I don’t really want to explain; it seems fairly obvious…
Although what each letter stood for cracked me up.
hhmmm movies…..:
i likes :
Bourne Identity
POTC
POTC2-not as good
“your not making any sense at all” love johnny depps accent!
Charlie and the Chocolate factory-completely random and funny side of johnny depp
LOTR-better than the books(ie it dosen’t take a month to see one part like it takes to read the books)
wallace and gromit-just watched a close shave and other old ones with my little cousins
Star wars
indiana jones-#2 just sucked
uummmmm….can’t think of any more.
johnny depp is the best actor i have ever seen. this girl i know has a pillow case w/ him on it (obsession_)
whats with the ratings? fridgey……you’re wierd……but that was sickly funny….i’m not very good am i……..startling realization:i am mentally sick.
83-I agree.
I didn’t understand The Triplets of Belleville.
Has anyone seen Gazon Maudit? La Cage Aux Folles? Les Visiteurs?
The Birdcage?
Captain Ron?
THREAD RATING!!!!! I think this thread can be a B. Stuff on here isn't that bad.
87 – Good rating.
I’ve recently watched POTC 1+2, Das Boot.
I don’t watch all that many movies because recently is in the last three or four months…
Das Boot is really scary. It’s a war movie made by the losers. It is about the crew of a German U-Boat in WWII and their voyage.
POTC3 is going to start in Tia Dalma’s house. I think.
Beckett: You mad!
Jack: If I wasn’t, this would probably never work!
Love that part
When’s Talk like a pirate day?
Sorry for double posting…
78+84 the 2nd pirates wuz even better than the 1st…maybe you didn’t know that it was a bridge thingy from the 1st to 3rd movies so the end seemed pointless and weird? maybe you didnt remember the first? or maybe you just really dont like cannibals and octopus-faced…people?
86 no no no no and no…srry!
my favorite movies are probably both POTC (esp 2), and…uhh…ill get back to you, i cant think right now. the scent of cookies is overpowering.

There are soooooo many more but I will probaby bore everyone. Does anyone else like A Little Princess with Liesal Mathews? I love that movie!!!! I ALWAYS cry, it has the best ending ever!!!!! The person who wrote that also wrote The Secret Garden, which is also kinda sad, but I Love them both.
I cant wait until the new Harry Potter movie comes out!!!! I hope they didnt destroy it this time like they did with the third movie ( no offense to the director who also directed a little princess). But I saw the preview, so at least he kisses Cho. Anyone else excited? They have confirmed that the cast will be the same for all the movies.
OOOOOOOh sorry i forget the princess bride.
OMG!!! I forgot charlie and the chocolate factory too!!! I love Johnny Depp, but not as much as orlando bloom, wow!!!! I have friend who has a shrine for him in her room!!!! did you know that johnny depp found that voice for charlie and the chocolate factory when he played barbies with his kids? wierd huh.
95- I’ve read the book the little princess (and the secret garden) but never seen the movie of either (didn’t even know there was a movie of either.)
I just saw To Catch a Thief. It was good^_^ yay for Hitchcock!
86- I liked the triplets of beleville. especially when they arrive at belleville and the part on the hill with the rolling cars.
69- that’s a silly idea.
whats the triplets of beleville about?
Did I say I liked National Treasure? Well I do. I went to see Meet the Robinsons for my Bday. I GOT A FERGIE CD! w00t!
Meet the Robinsons is really funny!!! But they didnt play the Jonas brothers song. Anyway, my friend and I were practically laughing the whole time, my stomoch was in alot of pain when we got out.
You are so lucky that you got to see Meet the Robinsons, Dancergirl13!
Okay, movies…movies…movies… I see a movie in a theater maybe… about every 3-6 months? Not very often anyway. It’s a special treat when my family goes to the movies. The movies I’ve seen in a movie theater are: The Bridge to Terabithia
Shrek2 Everyone’s Hero :nuetral: The Incredibles, ect.
94- i liked that.
80-not the scarring they meant. twas the spoiler.
*looks gerard butler up*
well, i liked 300. and i like beowulf (teh story)
so. maybe ill watch it next time i cant think of what to watch.
98- i sorta just saw that. ditto,.
81 and 82 can be snipped. I misinterpreted something.
Advent Children. WATCH IT.
whats it about?
The last movie I saw in theatres was The Lives of Others. It was really cool. I had never really known or thought about what it was like to live in East Berlin but this movie really shows you what life was like there. It’s rated R, though and it is a bit traumatic but really good. Before that was The Pursuit of Happyness which I just thought had too much pursuit and too little happiness. Before that Narnia? maybe? Unless I saw something between those and I don’t think I did…
I was at a sleepover last weekend and we watched both When Harry Met Sally which is a really sweet romantic comedy though they do talk about sex a lot and Never Been Kissed which is really oddly similar to Mean Girls. (It’s better than Mean Girls though and came out first and has a completely different premise, it’s just both have a “new highschool student who is split between popular and non popular crowd” type theme. they’re rather different though)
108-i saw teh trailer for that. looked good.
90- September 19!
I’ve seen Newsies. It was good. They don’t have the music on iTunes, though. Or they ddn’t right after I saw it.
really? i didnt know that. whats newsies? is it good
I demand a Keys to The Kingdom series of movies!!!!!
just saw pans labyrinth, and i am disturbed. in a good way. recomended, if you dont get nifghtmares. horror movies are just funny, but this is… scary really. watch it.
they should make a pendragon movie anyway my favorite movies are
1. October Sky and
2.Timeline
and Newsies are awsome
october skies rocks!
I know. nobody in my neighborhood likes that movie except me
Red October. See it. I command you. Very good movie although it’s to clean and shiny.
OK I was on this geocoaching hike and I went to a bridge by a river and I’m like WHOA because there was a car all rusted and stuff. I FOUND THE BRIDGE TO TARIBITHIA!! But I didn’t go accross it because… because I didn’t.
OMG! I LOVE watching movies a ton. Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, and Star Wars (2, 3, and 5) especially. Padme rox your sox right off in that scene whith the execution. Harry is so cool in the dragon/broom/people dying scene. And Jack is sooo cool, well, anytime!!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone seen Night at the Museum?
Anyone seen RENT?
122- yes
I saw october sky almost 8 years ago, when I was nine and don’t really remember it that well…
Hunt for Red October was awsome!!!! i  it. it was a very good spy/russian/submarine movie. loved jack. and the admiral (james earl jones).
121 – Night at The Museum was a AWESOME movie! It was cool! (But the scene where the monkey pees on the guard was weird)
I just finished The Lady in the Water. Really, really good.
126. I liked Lady in the Water too I just thought it was wierd
127 – Can you fix my computer?
Has anyone seen any of the Mel Brooks movies?
Has anyone seen Ratatouille, and if so, do you recommend it?
130- Never seen it.
Does anyone have recs for someone who likes sci-fi similar to Serenity?
130 – It hasn’t been released in theaters yet! But it looks good.
WHo here is excited about the new HARRY POTTER movie? I AM!!!!
133- Not really . . . I hated the fifth book.
134-i have to agree with you
i sooooooo want to see stadust, coming out in August.
121- i love night at the museun too!! micikaka (attila the hun)
for those of us that saw it, wasnt the movie eragon such a dissapointment?
star wars is very very very cool!! i’m the only girl star wars geek in my whole school.
P.S. the spiderwick chronochles (did i spell that right?)are coming out in a few years
I think, that sequels are not usually as good as the original movie, but Harry Potter, has somehow achieved an unbroken streak of greatness in its movie franchise. Each film seems to be better then the last. Even HP5, which obviously made some big departures from the book, was great.
I’m almost scared to see the 7th one.
The 7th book by the way, is like incredibly dull. I’m having to force myself to read it. Sorry to HP fans. I am hoping that the movie will be better though.
Wow, my second thread is still open.
National Treasur II is out on NOv. Twenty first [ohyeah, nick cage, riley pool,…]]
138-Sweet! Me lurvies NT.
ACROSS THE UNIVERSE-Ebeth wants to see sooo much. She’s going saturday. she’s heard from several people that it’s AMAZING.
They’re making a Maximum Ride Movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*much excitement!!!*
They’re making a Twilight movie too [imagine millions of exclamation points HERE. The exclamation point button on my computer is broken.]
Me lurvies LOTR
The Golden Compass was good. They changed the order of some stuff that happened, but it wasn’t that bad. Minor inconsistancies, but oh well. And while they did keep the religious stuff down (they never said Church, for example), the guys look a heck of a lot like bishops/popes/etc and the Magisterium is quite obviously evil.
Ugh, now I have to wait for everybody else to see it.
I’m afraid so. Anything else you reveal at this point is likely to create spoilers.
145-That’s why I kept it generic and just answered the basic questions everybody’s been asking.
Once other people have seen it, though, can we talk more specifically? For example, if in the book characters A and characters B had an encounter and in the movie I think they totally botched it, can I say “The encounter between A and B was really lame because of blah blah blah”?
144-that’s out now?! *wants to go see RIGHT NOW but has far too much hw at the moment to drive off to a movie theater*
147- Nope, it came out yesterday… but I didn’t get a chance to see it yet I’ve watched just about all the trailers numerous times, read everyone’s comments onhow the everyone’s hair color was mixed up, etc… but I still need to SEE it!! DX
I’M GONNA GO SEE SWEENIE TODD ON THE 21!!!!!!! anyways, should be fun! also my new favrite movie is Trainman. it made me cry 3 times (and i never cry) it’s very sweet and japenese.
Watchitwatchitwatchitpeople!
Because then I can talk to people about it.
Aww, come on…hasn’t ANBODY seen The Golden Compass yet?
I saw it last Saturday.
i’m not planning on seeing it unless dragged along. i haven’t read the book yet.
152-What did you think of it?
Re Golden Compass: I definitely want to see it, but I want to re-read the book again, just so I can be fully equipped to see the movie in its movie-ness. And so I remember everything in the book, and therefore can figure out all the discrepancies and such. I also have to wait around for THF to read it, because she hasn’t read it yet. ::jaw drops::
SPOILER WARNING SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING
I thought it looked great. The characters were well cast (or animated), and the set and prop designers did a fine job.
149 – SWEENEY TODD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to see that INCREDIBLY badly, but I have never seen an R-rated movie with nothing skipped.
But I might be able to go if my parents see it first and say it’s fine….
151 – I am seeing it today. I’ll post here about it when I can.
GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING
I liked how they ended it, without the “going into the sky” but, but some of my friends didn’t. What do the MBers think?

I didn’t mind it.

I didn’t like how they did when Lyra was reading the answer in the alethiometer, with the dust forming shapes, and I can’t remember how the book ends but I know it wasn’t like that.
Other than that, I really did like it. I am very glad that Lyra turned out exactly how I imagined her.
END
I want to see I Am Legend, too. I am a big movie-goer! xD
GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING
Besides it going too fast and the alethiometer reading, they did as much as I expected.
Today I lent my friend The Golden Compass (the book). It was in my locker.
anyone what to talk about the historicaly problems will national treasure 2?
162 – When I see it, I will.
I’m going to see Sweeney Todd I’m going to see Sweeney Todd I’m going to see Sweeney Todd I’m going to see Sweeney Todd I’m going to see Sweeney Todd I’m going to see Sweeney Todd.
At 11:50! I am incredibly excited.

I hated how they pronounced daemon. i’ve always said it like “daimon” with an i sound. like diamond.
GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING
(164) Presumably Pullman told the actors how he pronounces it.
The “Lord of the Rings” movies did a good job on pronunciation, the big exception being the name of Saruman’s hangout, Isengard. Tolkien’s appendices give specific instructions about how to pronounce vowel sounds, and long “i” is not part of his phonemic palette.
GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING GOLDEN COMPASS SPOILER WARNING
I didn’t like the way the daemons. They didn’t look even slightly real, and guess who they had play the voice of Pan? Freddie Highmore. I can’t stand that kid. He’s in literally every movie that needs a boy roughly his age. It’s irritating. He’s not even that good!
I haven’t even read the book yet and probably wont get around to it until I see the movie, not what I had hoped. Although I have the book.
I like the animated Scooby-Doo movies, but not the live-action ones, those are cheesy. I REALLY like Star Wars!
My other favorites:
Night at the Museum
National Treasure
Contact
The Lion King
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Mulan
Guess who has finally seen TRANSFORMERS and STARDUST. Whee! Also, Transformers had an awesome soundtrack. Awesome. I’m making my friend burn me a copy of it… she’s getting it for christmas
169- I liked Stardust.
I’d like to see a good movie made out of the Dark is Rising sequence. It has so much potential.
171 – I completely agree. It is one of my favorite sequences of books. It would make a good movie, but they actually have to get a director who likes the books.
172- The guy who directed it *didn’t* like the books?
I love Transformers. *vanishes*
173 – It was pretty evident from what he did to it. He also said that he thought the books were too much like Harry Potter in an interview (never mind that TDiR came several decades earlier).
175- A headline I’d like to see is “[Guy who directed horrible movie adaptation of Dark is Rising] Chased Across Half of Europe by Wild Hunt.”
How about “Michael Bay Chased Across Half of Europe by People Who Actually Care if Their Movies Contain Good Science”?
177- What? The Sequence didn’t really bother with science…
Hang on, I’ll google Michael Bay.
Ahh. He directed Transformers. I assume he packed it full of pseudoscience?
179-Yup. It was still a good movie, in my opinon, but it’s all impossible.
180- Giant robots evolving somehow, without being manufactured? Or did it go beyond that?
181-Supposedly the robots who are intellegent (already beyond science there) can transform into pretty much any machine, and even convert any other machine that isn’t a Tranformer all ready to one. The plan of “Mega Tron” was to convert all of Earth’s machines into a gigantic intellegent robot army.
Oh, and they can survive sub-freezing temperatures after hundreds of years.
182-It’s sci-fi. What do you expect?
I saw Stardust a week or two ago. It was pretty good.
182- Why would a member of an ancient mechanized race have a name like Megatron?
184-Because his mother was a time traveler.
I DUNNO! Why are you asking me? Ask him whenever he shows up!
184-Why not?
186- Because “mega” is a Latin prefix meaning “big,” and “tron” is the name of a video game (from Earth!), which has since become a cliche suffix tacked onto the name of just about every comic-book robot. A member of an ancient mechanized race from the other side of the galaxy is called something that practically translates to “big robot?” GIVE ME A BREAK!!! *pant pant* OK, I’m getting too worked up about this. *leaves*
Robert’s post just vanished. *is struck by a horrible misgiving*
*rushes off to check Ask the GAPAs thread to ensure that GAPAs have not been wiped from the pacetime continuum*
Nope, still here.
180- Especially how the trailer had “Mars” with a BLUE sky (It’s really kind of pinkish).
And they said that Beagle 2 was a rover. It wasn’t.
They also said that Beagle 2 was a NASA mission. It was really a mission from the European Space Agency.
Michael Bay needs to brush up on his astronomy.
Pan’s Labyrinth is one of the best and most depressing movies I’ve ever seen. I have also become almost completely obsessed with the POTC movies, and I haven’t even watched the third one yet.
My brain is FRIED right now.
190- Sunsets on Mars are blue. I think.
171- I agree. I don’t dare watch the recent one.
I saw The Water Horse recently. It was diverting, but horribly, horribly, cliched. I knew every character’s relationship to the story the moment they appeared. The water horse itself was less than wonderful, and I absolutely cannot stand those angsty eleven-year-old boys with fathers missing during WW2. Ugh. At least Angus wasn’t played by Freddie Highmore. I strongly dislike Freddie Highmore. Yesterday my mom was telling me about August Rush, and I was enjoying it until she remarked that the kid was played by Freddie Highmore and I just went – “Oh.” and lost all interest.
new thread? you said we’d get one at the end of the year…
