Cryptids and Soccer

MBers have requested separate threads about soccer and cryptids. Each topic sounded a bit specialized, but together there might be enough posts to sustain a thread, so here you are. Let the confusion begin!

Yay for soccer!!! Thanks GAPA’s! I’m currently playing on a homeschool Varsity team…it’s cool, cuz we have purple uniforms, but we’ve only had one game so far, so I don’t know if we’ll deserve those purple uniforms…I think we will, though…ok, that’s long…I’m done.

The GAPAs say the moderation will be slow. I wonder what they’re doing? I wonder what they are doing for Easter. Wait. This should be on the ask the GAPA thread. I’ll go there in a minute.

I truly believe my house is haunted. Do not read the to the end of the following line if you want to sleep tonight.

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOKhere’swhatIhavetosay:oftenIhearcreakingnoises,especiallyinthebasement,andthereisacrawlspacethatwehavenowayofgettingtoabovethesecondstoryofmyhousethatisprobablyreallycreepybutsincewecan’tgetupthereitseemsevencreepier.

Yup, that sums it up. I don’t have any good evidence, but somehow I seem to just be able to sense ghosts. Sound too weird? Can you sense them? Do you have any evidence of ghosts?

Well, this I can say, and we aren’t sure what kind of animal would make this noise: Last night, I was lying in bed, and I heard a scratching noise, and it almost turned into a sort of tapping noise. Ideas? *is scared to go to bed*

    =

  7. Romana2 says:

I’m not sure if that counts as a cryptid; it sounds more like a paranormal thing to me. My personal opinion: a sibling or parent who is tapping on the wall to freak you out, or a tree tapping on your window.

Of course, once when I was lying in my room, I heard my mother tell me good night and I turned around and saw that the door was shut.

    Freaky…

  8. Beavo the Great says:

Romana!! That happed to me too!!! But it was a little different because my Mom does not usually tell me good night. So she said good night and I turned around because I was a little creeped out, and the door was shut. And then the lights went out and I got really scared. But It turned out that it was just a power outage. Not some ghost.

  11. Red-tailed HAWK says:

I don’t think it was a sibling; don’t have any. Parents, well, the noise was still there when they were both standing there. Trees, my dad went outside with a flashlight and didn’t see anything. It sounded like something nibbling on the ceiling.

Anyway, one time a friend was at my house, and we were playing with legos. There was a thunderstorm outside, and the friend said “I wonder if the power will *blink* go out?!?” and the power blinked off and then back on. Funny coincidence I guess.

Really scary, REALLY scary! This happened a couple times: In the morning, my mom would start talking about something that she had never mentioned to me before, and she says “remember I told you last night, you know when I came in for a minute?” me, “no!”

I don’t want to know what she would have asked me if I had not told her to stop. *is scared that he could have given stuffed animals away and not even known*

10- There was this book I read a long time ago, and it talked about this place where the wind coming from the mountains and wind coming from the forest mingled, and whenever you got to that EXACT SPOT you could hear whispers. 5- I did believe in Santa Clause for eleven years. Though when I was eleven I was beginning to doubt it.
My sister is ten and she still believes.
8- The lights going out were a power outage, but what about the closed door? Huh?
Ooh, ghosts. I know there’s such thing as ghosts, but I’m not really scared of them. My sister is though. Terrified. I’d be terrified too if I saw one. Once I was hanging out at a friends house, and we were home alone, and it was dark, and there was this weird flapping noise. We were so freaked out! But it turned out to be a poster she had on her bedroom door flapping in the draft.
That’s not talking about cryptids though. Um, who else thinks that there’s a chance Captain Kidd wasn’t actually a pirate? He’s not a cryptid, but it’s the same unsolved mystery sort of thing that facsinates me.

Soccer. I play soccer with the elementary schoolers. Bit embarassing if you’re in eighth grade and the oldest kid on your team is in fifth. But some of the fifth graders are way huge, so it evens out.

26-What’s wrong with you? How can you NOT LIKE SOCCER?!?!?!?!

You know what’s really weird (this is also the reason I’m afraid of dolls)? One time, a few years back, my friend and I were playing with some Lego people, and we’re like, “Hey, let’s put some Lego people in (my) room and wait for a while, and see if they do anything!” We were, like, 11, so we were just messing around, and didn’t expect anything to happen. So we put two Lego people in my room, and left. Now, my room has lock-able windows (which were locked at the time), and we were playing in the living room, and you have to go through the living room to get to my room, my brother’s room, my parents’ room, and/or the bathroom, so we would’ve known whether or not anyone had gone into my room. (I’ve pondered this many times, hoping to find some way that what must’ve happened didn’t.) We waited 10 min., and checked my room. The Lego people had moved! But we thought that maybe we had put them that way, and just not noticed, so we took care to make sure that we knew where they were, and tried again. We came back after another 10 min., and they had moved again! So then we were totally freaked out, and brought the Lego people out to the living room where we could see them. Either the Lego people are alive, or they were possessed…either way, I’m still freaked out.

I swear our church was haunted, but it could’ve been a joke. My 3 friends and I had stayed after supper one Wednseday night to help clean up, and there were about 6 people in the whole church, Mattie, Liz, Vera, me, my mom, and the cook. So us girls went to the basement, and we turned the light on, and then it was turned off. Now, there are two light switches in te basement, one by the elevator, and one by the otere door to the Westley Hall. WE were at the elevator switch, having just come off the elvator. We turned the switch back on. Someone turned it off. We turned it on. They turned it off. THis went on for about 10 minutes, and since the basement is cluttered with crap that no one wants, we couldn’t cross it in the dark, so we ran to the elevator, got in, ran the entire way around the church real fast, and no one was at the light switch and my mom and the cook were still in the kitchen cleaning. It was quite freaky. WE also got stuck in that elevator for about 15 minutes once. And we heard the Jaws music coming from the Sanctuary, getting steadily louder, but there was no one playing the piano when we were inside. T’was scary.

I played with blocks, legos, paint, going outside, my dolls which were all different (some cloth, some plastic, some big, some little) My favorite thing to do though was draw floorplans for houses and create families that lived there. Or read. I loved all sorts of books including a lot of fantasy. (and muse of course! though I only started subscribing when I was nine (in nineteen ninety nine) nine looks a bit funny now

I wasn’t serious about the Barbies people. When I was six I asked what they were. I don’t think I had any dolls. I did have a chemistry kit, pea and ice guns, a fly car, and a mini-snow bike. I had lots of fun growing up. One year a bunch of people got all the bottles from the recycling bin and stuck them all in the ground with the necks showing. When the wind blew it made a horrible sound like a foghorn. Like the sound a beer bottle makes when you blow across it magnified about 300 times.

George also hated social studies. Anyway, one day during social studies, the door suddenly slammed shut. “Must be George leaving,” my teacher joked. A few minutes later, the door opened a crack, then closed again. “He must have been checking to see if we were done with social studies yet,” we decided. Finally, during the end of class, the door opened all the way. We looked up, but didn’t say anything. I mean, we were already used to it. But then the fan turned on all by itself. Oh, man!!! I saw an intense professional indoor Playoff soccer game last night! It was the Detroit Ignition (Woot!!!) vs. the Milwaukee Wave. It was a tight game (6-6) until the end of the third quarter (they use quarters in pro. indoor), and then the teams got into it! They were subbing, like, every 2 min…it was craze-ay! And then, it turned out that that game was the one that would decide whether or not the Wave went right to the finals; if the Ignition won, they and the Wave would have to play another “Golden Goal” game, in which whoever scored first would go to the finals…if the Wave won, they would go straight to the finals, without another game. Ignition won, so they played the GG game, and, omgosh, it was fast-paced like no other! Then, about 5 min. in to the game, Ignition scored!!! The crowd went ballistic, and one of the Ignition players (Chile Farias) got elbowed in the face by one of the Wave players when they were doing their post-game handshake…stupid bad loser… Anyway, Ignition own, so it was sweet!!!

I’m not saying that they were the worst team, and I don’t want you to take offense. I’d heard that they only scored once.

But now he’s had me playing either right defense or one of the center defenders (we play a flat-back four) for the past few games. I don’t like defense. :(

Actually, I agree, somewhat. Watching soccer can be pretty boring, but other times it’s awesome. I think a lot of it depends on where you’re watching it, who you’re watching play, and who you’re watching it with.

For example, my family went to see the D.C. United vs. L.A. Galaxy game while we were in D.C., and it was really cool because you not only got the game, but you got the whole experience that you don’t get while watching on TV.

Another thing is that it’s much cooler to watch the “game of the season”, like that game, or a Euro Cup game or something then just a youth team. Unless we know the people, and then it rocks.

The “who you’re watching it with” usually applies to my soccer teammates. A game that would be boring when watching it with non-soccer people is so much cooler when you’re watching with people who “get it”.
