Happy birthday, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle! Or maybe it’s not happy, considering you’re dead . . .

And now a little factoid or two.

Arthur Conan Doyle (from now on abbreviated to ACD, when we’re not wishing him happy birthday) got so sick of writing Sherlock Holmes stories that he killed him off. When he did so, he was called a murderer, and many citizens went into mourning.

Happy birthday, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle! I’m actually in the middle of a book of Sherlock Holmes stories. His charachters are just fascinating. He based Sherlock Holmes off a proffesor at the medical school he went to, Dr. Joseph Bell, who could diagnose a patient at a glance. Amazing.

3- Yes, and because of that he “brought him back.”

My favorite Sherlock Holmes story is “Sherlock Holmes and the Red-headed League” At least I think that’s what it’s called…

I wondered if you were new, rabbity24, but I’m not exactly old and I thought you may be returning . . . I apologize for not pieing you on Books in Progress.

You know, “pieing” is acknowledged as a word. Weird.

Welcome! You might want to visit the Welcome, Newcomers! thread for some tips, and of course take a glance at The Rules and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Museblog. From there, just find a thread you like and start posting. Try to stay on topic, and I’m sure you’ll be fine. Good Luck, and I really must get back to my chemistry flashcards…

I have no idea where everyone is. I love Sherlock Holmes. I just finished a paper on how the characters of Monk and House (from the T.V. shows Monk and House) are really Sherlock Holmes. Does anyone else have any thoughts?
5-We are studing Sherlock Holmes in reading class and we read that story and saw the movie. We also read The Case of the Speckeled Band, which gives me the shivers…
Oh yeah, and… *pies arthur with cement, whipped cream, and caviar pie* Happy B-Day!!!!

20- Monk, probably. House, duh. You wrote a paper on it? BTW, what do you mean “I have no idea where everyone is?”

I had to find The Return of Sherlock Holmes online because my library didn’t have it (really, what kind of library doesn’t carry the Sherlock Holmes stories) and I couldn’t leave Watson thinking Holmes was dead (I knew he wasn’t, of course, but still).

21-I was on briefly about a year ago, but now I am here to stay! *pies with cherry, liver, and artichoke pie*
22- Trust, me it was not my topic of choice-I would much rather write a real detective story, but it was required. I said that because there are only 22 posts-all the other threads have more. What does BTW mean?

  24. Sobriquet (Julieb) says:

23- Well, since Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s birthday is over, it makes sense there would be fewer posts than other threads which have wider ranges of discussion. “BTW” is an abbreviation for “by-the-way”

    Cherry, liver, and artichoke? Ew.

23- BTW is an acronym for by the way.
