Not necessarily. There have been entire months with maybe one newcomer: I for one appreciate a small number of newcomers because it allows the other MBers to get to know them (in a “normal”, non-stalkerish way
) much better and gives us a chance to welcome the neophytes personally and give out more personalized and detailed advice. It’s all about the quality, not the quantity.

I’d like to put out a general suggestion: Try to make most of your posts somewhat substantial. The GAPAs have to check every post, and getting 50 posts just saying “the post above is cool” or “good point” might get a bit tedious.
It’s usually a good idea to reply to several posts at once. You’ll notice that the real oldies will post with numbers/names as such:
11- (MagoBerry) I did notice that there aren’t many new neophytes. Maybe the magazine hasn’t mentioned the blog for a while. (I don’t know because my subscription ran out).
Neptune- I like your name! My name has been Jupiter or various translations of it before. :] Yay planets! Why did you pick Neptune? For the god or the planet?
With the nested comments, we don’t tend to do this numbering thing as much. We make more posts but you’ll notice that we try to make them worth replying to. If you just want to say something is cool, then use the pie button :]
(When I was here back in the day we didn’t have a pie button. I like it because you can let someone know that you like their post even if you don’t have anything to say about it. Before the button, posts would just seem to go unnoticed if nobody replied because you didn’t know how many people read it and just didn’t know how to respond)

Hello! I was looking through an old Muse Magazine I found in a pile in my room, and I saw the URL for this place, so I decided to come check it out. I’ve been looking around a bunch today, and I noticed that everyone here is using nice spelling and such, so I’ll do that too.
You can call me Anabolite or Evelyn, or some sort of abbreviation of one or the other. I’m fourteen years old, bisexual, and I enjoy collecting staplers, CDs, and rubber bouncy balls of all sizes. (And the avatar thingy I have pretty much looks like how I usually am: spazzy, awkward, crazed, and just a little bit pentagonal.)
I can’t wait to get to know everyone here, and I’m hoping I’ll be able to check in and post regularly!

What does the pie thingy on the bottom of the posts mean?
Welcome to MB! We’re always glad to have new additions to our community. If you have any more questions, this is the place to ask them.
The pie thingy is a muserly version of the “like” button on various sites. As far as I know, most MBers use it when they like posts but don’t really feel like replying to them. After a post is pied ten times, it turns pink.
Here comes the obligatory advice part. Firstly, kudos to you for already figuring out the grammar/capitalization/spelling in your first posts. It’s not strictly necessary but very appreciated
One little pointer: try to avoid double posts. It still happens to all of us from time to time, so most people just put “SFTDP” (SorryForTheDoublePost) in front of the second one.
Anyway, stick around and have fun!
