There’s been a clamor for a dog thread, a cat and dog thread . . . well, we know where that can lead. Besides, we like all kinds of animals and MBers have an assortment of pets, so why stop there?
(We could have been consistent and called this Pets 2007.1, since there was a Pets thread in 2006, but we felt the urge to alliterate. And we’re simply not all that consistent. Anyway, there’s no need to restrict the discussion to pets, so a different title makes sense after all.)
Will the GAPAs cover any nasty comments with hot-pink bunnies?
*does uncertain first post dance* So… I have a Keeshond, (or a fourty pound furball). Yeah. That’s it.
Humph. Not FirstPost. *does second post dance*
[I allowed this comment just so I could say we prefer you not make these comments. Celebrate as you like, but add something pertinent to the discussion at hand. –Admin.]
(1) But we aren’t going to have any nasty comments, are we?
Thanks, GAPAs!
1- That would be cool. After all, that is what they’re for.
4- No. Well, not from me, at any rate.
I have six bunnies. If anyone would care for a blue dutch rabbit, please say so. I will do my utmost to get it too you. (No, seriously. I know it won’t happen, but I sooooo need to get rid of them. Well, four of them anyways.)
I don’t have a dog or cat, but I am for the cat because dogs slobber on everything and everyone.
(5, 1) Here’s an idea: why don’t you insert your own hot-pink bunnies? Preemptively, as it were.
7- Okay.
We have two parakeets, Blueberry and Popsicle (named by my sis; I wanted to name Popsicle, Epaulette. A whole lot better that is.) We have five cats, Beetle, Bug, Shadow, Zebra, and the half-wild Fathead.
These are my only pets… may I treasure them always
We named our dog Jip, since it’s a sheepdog name. (And better than Sandy, which is what Opal* wanted to name him.) Then my mother realized that it was totally derogatory to gypsies. So we went through a series of alternative names, for example, Pip and Zip. None of them stuck. So now I feel rather kind of bad about it.
*She’s been on here under her own name, so why do I continue to refer to her as “my sister”?
I have two dogs: Codi and Lucky. Codi is a Shiba Inu. And Lucky is a blonde terrier mix. THEY ARE THE BEST!!! I am definitely a dog person.
I have a Scottie named Dickens, a black and white cat named Smudge and roughly 175 beanie babies. And about 40 pigs of assorted types, but no real ones, yet, though. *sigh*
:idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea:

I had a dog, but he died from that tainted pet food incident a few months ago. My little brother (he’s 4) said that it was the saddest day of his life. Poor guy, he was really upset.
I am a cat person.
I have a dog named Pup.
*Sigh* Such a cheesy title… It made me grin. Alliteration=love
I had a cat that slobbered a lot, she would drool and make a huge puddle on me if I cuddled her, otherwise she was cool
I have lotsa animals, I love animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(12) Aww, I once had a cat named Smudge. Now I have Swab, Trouble, and Zouzou, all of them Siamese mix.
175 beanie babies, wow! I have only one and I keep it locked up. Here’s why:
That’s Trouble, by the way, in case you hadn’t guessed.
(16) Was your drooling cat missing a front tooth? I knew a cat with that problem once.
(17) I own one Beanie Baby, too: a crab that I bought in a supermarket while stocking up on supplies for a long car trip. It still rides on my dashboard.
I don’t have any beanie babies. But I do have 50 or so other stuffed animals of varying types.
Our cat, Shadow, has really bad breath. He’s fairly old (we think) and he has fangs. The poor guy really wants nonstop pets, but it’s so hard for us to pet him, due to the fact that he digs his claws into us and pushes his face into ours.
I have about 100 beanie babies, though I’ve never counted. Alice you are so lucky to have so many pets! I have but one lowly Leopard Gecko, which I’ve mentioned before, as my other two lizards, Spike and Nolli, died. I soooooo want a dog! Or a cat. Or a bird. or a ferret. Or a rabbit. Some thing wit hfur or feathers!
Alice, you sound alot like a girl I was pen pals with a few years ago. Except her name was Mary. It’s wierd because I think that she had a cat named Shadow, too, but I’m not sure.
17-
18-I think I have one or three (or two or four_I can never remember specifics…) The one I’m sure of is a koala.
I have a dog, he’s going to turn eight (or 56, if you wish) in August.
19-My dog has fish-breath…And I have probably nearly 200 stuffed animals now…
13-That’s soo sad!!!
I didn’t know anybody who lost one with all of that! *Weeps*
RtH of Weeping

Oops…I’m sorry-I forgot to make my name bold…
We had two bunnies, Sunflower and Starry Night, but one died (I think of old age) and the other from being sad that the other was gone…
RtH of Weeping

13- I’m so sorry.
19- Feel Lucky! I have NO pets!
24- I am so lucky. And we all love Shadow anyways… I think. He can be a pain sometimes (OK, all times) but he means well. When we first got him from the animal shelter, we were certain that he wasn’t up for adoption. But he was!
23- Aww. One of my sister’s mice died of a tumor, and then soon after the other one died of the first one being gone.
25. That happened to my mice, too. That reminds me of “Where the Red Fern Grows”. I cried when I read that book. *sniff*
4-Nasty comments? What for?
Oh, and by the way, dogs are so much better than cats.I have an applehead chihuahua. She is a two year short hair, not-tipping-the-scales-at-all 3.7 lbs. She is a sorel with a straight tail, a white wheat strand, protruding eyes, the nuisance poodle eyes, proportioned feet, black hair tips. She is gorgeous.
ok, ok, I’ll speak english. She is a red/chestnut with a tail that doesn’t curl over her back (known as a pig tail, curled tail, or Shirley Temple tail), a white stripe on her breast, bulging eyes, poodle eyes (a condition that dogs get because they have bulging eyes, it makes them cry all the time.) Her feet aren’t to big for her, and she has a few black hairs on her back.
I did NOT make up the Shirley Temple tail. If you’ll recall, Ms. Temple had curly locks, hence the name.
Her temperment is perfect, and the only reason that she doesn’t strut in the international Dog Show Ring with a blue ribbon is because we rescued her after Hurricane Katrina.
We call her Quetzalcoatl, after the aztec god. The Aztecs bred chihuahuas.
13- OMG, I am so sorry. The same thing nearly happened to my dog. Our dog food (Iam’s Select Delights) was on the list. We were switching from Purina Tiny Bites Adult to the Iams that very night that the news broke. We are really lucky.
I have never had a dog die on me, but I have had to give several dogs away because we moved or because of behavoral problems. I can’t imagine losing my darling Quetzal because of a corporation’s greed.
Cats
dogs.
I’ve always wanted a feeret. My mom says a chihuahua’s the same size, so what’s the point?
Ferrets

26- I cry when I read almost anything. I’ve never read Where the Red Fern Grows.
We used to have a dog named – wait for it – Spot. Spot was part border collie. Spot was also more than a little neurotic, and killed chickens and the like. She was white, and had a black spot over her ear, hence the name. One day Spot had puppies. We thought there were six of them, but only four emerged from hiding. Hmm. One day when they were about two months old, Spot, bright thing that she was, took them running. They ran around the neighborhood and the countryside and goodness knows where else, and came back a little sick and very tired. All four survived. The second time she took them running, one of the puppies had the sense to stay at home. The other ones had no such luck. They came back days later, all of them much sicker than they had been when they left. Two of them bounced right back, but Spot and the other one didn’t. They both died.
We got rid of the other two puppies and kept Jip/Pip/Zip.
AWW! That is so sad Alice!
Our lizard died of old age, and the other one was pining for it and it stopped eating b/c it was sad and died. Then we got a gecko.
31- i almost cried. as you can tell, i have two borzois no tragedys yet…except a few unsuspecting mice..our dogs enjoy playing with them. ew.
does anyone else have borzois??????????????

31. Then DON’T read it! I don’t usually cry at all for books, (I feel like it, but then I remind myself that there are much more important things to cry over) and the tears were just streaming.
26-That is truly the saddest book.

GAPAs! My bunnie is being cut off!
33- sadly, no. I really want a pharoah hound.m or an afghan. An afghan and i would look so funny walking down the street, on account of the hair. But that’s not why I want one. It’s just a bonus.
Did any one here besides me hear that the bald eagle is off thenedangered list?
My opinion- that’s horrid! Now people can kill them.
39-It’s been off the endangered list for a while now…
And just because it’s off the endangered list dosn’t mean it’s not still protected. People can’t kill people, but they’re not on the endangered list!
18- I don’t know, I don’t think so, she was old and I think it just kida “leaked” out
21- we had a cat named Shadow… we have lotsa cats, all outdoor, but we name them, we usually get about 5-10 kitens every year (they don’t all stay on the farm, we have a consistant dozen or so)
29- yeah, me neither, but I heard about it because it was caused by melomine (sp?) getting into wheat in China, then coming here. Melomine is poisonous and all, but the fact that it got into the pet food wasn’t the American company’s fault, it was the fault of the Chinese company(s) that sold the wheat. That same thing could have easily happened to us at my family’s feed mill (aside from the fact that we only use organic grain) or any place that uses wheat because no one would spend the money to check for everything that could be poisonous.
The point? Blame China.
My dog went to the vet today to get “fixed” I hope he doesn’t learn to hate vets because I want to be a vet… still, if anything like that was ever done to me, I think I would hate that person
39 ~ That happened a while ago. Isn’t it “threatened” now?
No it hasn’t! They are announcing it Friday! It was off for a while,, but then the population decreased, so the bumped it back on.
17-Zomigosh, how cuuuute!!!!!! I ♥ cats! ^_^
I LOVE TIGERS!!!!!!!!!
(Just had to get that out there.)
Wait a minute… HERE’s what I heard… They went from endangered to threatened to now about to be off the whole list. Maybe there was a point when they were off and then they went back on, but I didn’t hear about it. They say they are going to come out very soon and say something about it, most likely taking them off the list.
45- I think that’s what happened.
30 I have a ferret. They are not the same as a chihuahua, they’re way cooler. And they can be litter box trained.
Mine’s name’s Bandit (she has a black mask over her eyes) and we also have a budgie named Luna (she’s blue).
I like zebras a lot.
(28) I haven’t confirmed this, but I’ve heard that the Aztecs bred chihuahuas as meat animals — portable protein. Does anyone know more about this?
48- YES! They were sacrificial animals, food, pets, feed for livestock, royal pets, signs of status. Multi use, you know…
The Toltecs were the first to breed them and the the Aztecs conquered the Toltecs but liked the chis.
They were eaten at special occasions, like the birth or death of a family member. Ugly or lame chis were given to livestock.
After Cortez, the chis ran wild for more than 300 years, during which they were even eaten by birds. Now a days, most of chis are afraid of birds.
47- You did not just insult chis, now did you?
Oh, Montezuma had over a hundred chis. Most were sacrified at his death. Or they were supossed to have been.
48- Nope. But they eat guinea pigs in South America. And Budgerigar means good to eat in Australian.
So grilling a chihuahua was the Aztec equivalent of baking a cake. Where we have birthday cakes, wedding cakes, etc., they had little friendly, yappy, oblong meat cakes with legs. Interesting.
*covers her chi’s eyes* Yes. You put it exactly they would have.
I think I’ll stick with Betty Crocker, thanks.
*laughs* I absolutly agree. eating meat is bad enough, butto kill these darling and intelegent chis is horrid.
I only have two cats but they are awesome, one went on my trampoline while i was jumping on it. lol flying cats are funny.
56- Indeed. Cats are funny most of the time, especially when they’re trying to be dignified.
57-Yes, there’s a youtube video (search funny cats on youtube) and there’s a whole bunch of cat videos.
Three words : LIME GREEN COWS. Not bunnies or cats, or dogs. LIME GREEN COWS.
Rabbity 24, Piggy, purplefinch, Vixen of the Ruby Eyes. You are all traitors and shall hereby be EXECUTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. I like penguins even MORE than cows!!!!!!!!!!
p.p.s. how does everyone get the symbols (not hot-pink bunnies. i hate hot pink bunnies)?????????????????????
60-*Pies before she can hurt anyone* Why???

OH and you should have paid more attention to waht people said on the newb thread. Rules and HG2MB…
We are trying to keep things peaceful. We allow the friendly and helpful HPBP censor us.
Training! How do you guys make your dog sit? Do you use a clicker? I don’t I hold the treat over the dog’s head and it sits. I really wish that I had a clicker, though.
cellogirl26, HG2MB thing at the bottom says a bunch of emotes that you can add by doing certain combinations. hope it helps
Wow. Smileys are our friends now, eh? I suppose you could have a smiley pet….
My aunt has three cats. The older one, Skittles, is EVIL!!!!! She hisses at us and tries to trip us on the stairs. (“us” is my sister and myself). Also, Abigail, the neighbors cat that we have been feeding while they are on vacation, is evil as well. It even looks like Skittles.
I have no pets. We used to have fish, but they died. We got more, and they died too. Finally, many years later, we got four more fish. Three died and one committed suicide.
I love cats but my parents (especially my dad) are allergic. I told my mom that I wanted to get cats when I grow up and then she went “Oh, hi mom and dad, I’d love to have you over but…” and it made me sad.
Not that sad, though. I’m only fourteen. xD
I read in the paper that eagles no longer need the protection of the Endangered Species Act but I didn’t read the whole article so I’m still unclear if they went from endangered to off the list entirely or endangered to threatened or threatened to off the list entirely.
My dad is semi-allergic, but he loves cats so we have them anyway.
67 ~ Animals seem to be attracted to my father, but he’s very allergic. I think if he stayed in a house with cats for three nights he could actually die.
48- I don’t know about that, but I saw in National geographic that in China they like fresh meat so in some kitchens there are cages by the stove to keep the live dogs (there was even a picture!) it was so gross!
52- I hope it’s not still friendly and yapping after it’s grilled into a “cake of the Aztecs”
59- genetic engineering at it’s best
60- did you hear the joke about the 2 penguins sitting on the ice, looking at a radio?
62- my dog’s really smart, he learned after about 2 times I said sit and shoved his butt down, then gave him a treat
69- That’s funny. My chi’s a darling, but rather hardheaded. Right now she’s learning the left heel gate system. she’s having a bit of trouble, but improving fast.
I went over to one of my friends’ houses with all the rest of my friends and one of them picked up her cat, squeezed it and yelled “Awww, you’re so cute, Mr. FluffyBottoms!” And the cat spazzed and scratched the
out of him.
I have:
‘s
3 parakeets
2 dogs
and alot of fish.
And
71- Hehe! There was this cat, named Smut, that, when I was six, jumped on my back, stuck his front paw claws in, and hung there, leaving scars in my back. I’m not sure if they are still there, I haven’t recently checked.
I want to adopt a pygmy elephant from the WWF, but It costs a bit too much. Oh well.
Sorry for the violence. I will use : arrow: to censor my work instead of Hpbs and all will live happily ever after.
73- You can have pygmy elephant, I will have giant penguin. It will TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!!!!!!
Whoops. I didn’t do the command right. I will use
to censor my work.
I have one dog(Idabel) 2 cats (fang and Pluto) 1 parakeet (smoke) and 2 turtles (thunder and lightning)
My turtles outside cage is flooded, but the turtles are ok. Its been raining everyday for 17 days. Bleh.
Whay are your cats called normal dog names?
This thread was what we call, “a nine-days wonder,” wasn’t it?
78- yes, sadly.
Never mind. “Meteors are not needed less than mountains,” as the poet Robinson Jeffers once wrote.
80- That’s good.
Hey- how do you guys pick a name for your pet?
82- Prepare for a long-winded explanation.
Shadow, our first cat, was named because of his fur color and because when we got him, his name was Webster, which was awful. We considered naming him Otter, if I remember correctly, but we went with Shadow.
Zebra, our second (still alive) cat, was named thus because of her stripes. Now we call her Zeeb most of the time, and it fits her well.
Our other two cats, Beetle and Bug, were picked up at the feed store totally spontaneously. They were sisters, and we wanted to give them matching names. It was proposed by either my sister or I that we call them Beetle and Bug, and we did. My mother says Bug is more like an Agatha, though.
Rabbits:
My first rabbit was Daisy, now deceased. I named her Daisy because I had been saving the name for a rabbit, and when it was later discovered that Daisy was a boy, well, what could we do about it? You don’t even want to hear the Daisy story…
Bunny: Yes, I have a rabbit named Bunny. I was going to call her Lavender, but Bunny was her pet nickname, and I don’t even try to pretend that it’s otherwise anymore.
And then there is Big Bun. Not a relative of Bunny, but in the two days we were desperately trying to think of a name, she was called Big Bun, and it stuck.
Mr. Blue was named after the ELO song, “Mr. Blue Sky.” I’m not proud of that fact, but it is a very good name.
There are various other stories, but I don’t really want to go into them all.
My first dog was called Tansy, a Jack Russel Terrier who we gave away when we moved to Botswana.

Some people gave us a Maltese called Josie but then took her back because they missed her
Then when we moved back to New Zealand (its snowing here at the moment lol) I got two fish, Comet and Plutt.
Comet died 3 days before christmas 2006 then my friends fish, Tiger, died on Xmas day when I was looking after him.
We bought together(me and my friend Amberleigh) 3 more, Elvis Pringle, Comet the Second and Tiger 2.
Elvis died, and Plutt commited suicide, i.e he jumped out of the tank, it was very traumatising seeing him on the floor
Now the two best buds ( Comet the 2nd and Tiger2) live happily in a VERY DIRTY TANK (which I should get round to cleaning these holidays!)
My firts dog was named Bingo because it’s an african (I forget which language) word for dog.
Another dog was named Indipendence because she was found at the independence center, where my mom worked. She was a great dog, but bit my little brother when he poked her while she was sleeping.
next dog was named Miki because it is Inuit for small. Her sister was Kaya, which we thought had a good ring to it. Miki was the one to be named Kaya, but there was some confusion at the adoption center and they accidently switched the names, and it stuck. Kaya died of Demodex, inherited from her mother, Miki had to be given away becvause we were moving to a tiny apartment, and she was very neurotic after the death of her sister.
Quetzalcoatl is our dog now, a beautiful chi. Chis were bred mainly by the Aztecs, and we thought that since they worshipped Quetzalcoatl, it would remind us of her rich history and legacy. It is easy to forget that about these adorable dogs, and start treating them like teddies.
82- it’s hard for me, like with the 4 new heifers I got yesterday, I just sat with them for about an hour thinking of names that would suit them, I ended up with Chrissy for my favorite one (she’s a sweet little baby!) and Betsy, Anna, and Diana (that’s a pretty name, but it doesn’t quite suit her, so I might have to change it…
82- I have so many saved up names it’s unbelievable. Just for horses I have at least 170 barn names, and around 100 show + barn combos. 0_0 So usually, if I’ve got my heart set on such and such animal they’ll have a name ready before anything else.
Oh yes, I have a neurotic rabbit, and a dog who’s aparently from Neverland.
87- Does the dog fly?
I have, currently, not that many pets:
Akroyd – dog – When we got him, he had a cone around his head and we had just rented Coneheads. Dan Akroyd played the main guy
Shawney – dog – Kept the name the pound gave her
Tommy – cat – Name I gave him when I was ten or something.
Voodoo – fish – Pearls Before Swine cartoon “This is Voo.” “What does Voo do?” “Voo do voodoo”.
I also just had to give my two rats away cus of boarding school and they were named Sher and Nosh, though she changed their names to Cheech and Chong. The names came from the phrase “No sh**, Sherlock”
I’ve also had chickens, guinea pigs, parakeets, and mice.
One of my chickens was named something like Rumplechicken.
As for beanie babies, I have around 100 or 150.
I also have Nintendogs, and even though they don’t count as pets, they tend to have pretty cool names: Marx, Mast, Carmel, Crusade, Missile, Quin, Ferris, Lyla, Archaic, Helga, and Tzar.
88- All dogs fly. They just doit while you aren’t looking. Good noght, everybody!
86: Hey, do you realize that one of those names you named your heifers is my real name? Haha, that’s so funny!
I have a dog named Buddy. We didn’t name him that all-too-common-name; it was his name when we got him.
I also have three bunnies, one of which is mine. I named her
Penny really for no reason other than I was only eight and
couldn’t think of anything better. The other two bunnies belong to my sisters.
We also have a parakeet who was originally named Noel until we found out she (he) was a boy bird. Now he’s Charlie. And that’s only because my grandfather once had a bird named Charlie and he called our bird Charlie. And no matter how many times we told him the bird was Noel, he’d call him Charlie. So now it’s Charlie.
I also had a kitten for two days. The dog looked about to eat her, though, so we had to return her much against my will and it was horrible and I never want to go through it again.
Noel can be a boy’s name, actually. Think of Noel Bastable.
You’re right, but you know what? I meant “Noelle” not “Noel”. The parakeet was originally Noelle. (*gasp* I spelled it wrong! I could kill myself!)
Oh dear, my friend of fur, the evil creature known as Tom just came in. He’s been quite affectionate since I got back, even venturing out of my room (I have a cat door in my room, so he’s normally either outside or in there. Or with his secret second wife). Anyways, since my computer gets internet in the corner right next to the door, I normally lie down on my stomach there, and he’ll sleep on my back. This time, though, he got on my back and immediately started rubbing his head in my hair and clawing my neck to the point where I thought he’d draw blood. Ohgod, he just did it again. Pain. Painpainpain.
I JUST GOT AN ADORABLE PUPPY DOG YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is a miniature black poodle.
I have one dog, named Caspian (from the prince and the sea). He’s a Portuguese Water Dog, and, while most Porties are black with white chests/bellies/faces, Caspian is white with black spots.
I also have two cats, named Pesky and Silky. (I named them when I was 7, okay?) Pesky is small and grey, with a cream chin and flecks of orange throughout her fur. She sleeps at the foot of my bed at night but hates being petted. We got her from a place out in Maryland.
Silky is the classic “tuxedo cat,” with slick black fur everywhere except his chest and paws- his white “shirt” and “spats.” He doesn’t like me or anyone else, probably because of his experience as a motherless kitten on the city streets. Silky is a great hunter, and has brought down such prey as squirrels half his size.
I like cats a lot, and they are my favorite animals. Seamice (Aphrodite aculeata) are my other favorites, hence my name here.
95: Awwww! I love little black poodles! I know one named Candy and she is the most adorable little thing you ever saw. What did you name the puppy?
97- Piper.
98- That’s the name of a town in The Makepeace War! Sara’s town, actually…
99- Yeah, that name has several meanings for me: an adorable three year old I know who has curly black hair, your fictional town, and one of my favorite fairytales when I was little.
yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have 2 borzois. i LOVE all big dogs (ok, little ones 2)

does anyone have irish wolfhounds?
My family and I are owned by a yellow drooling furball names Circles who calls himself a cat.
He’s my boyfriend, what can I say?
I might be getting my own bird soon. I love birds. My dad has a parrotlet named Dude who is blue.
We have a rat. Her name is Kirby. And my gecko, who doesn’t really have a name. And our dog, Duchess, and my sister’s dog, whose name does not deserve mention, and our two cats, Bear and Shilo.
Plus many deceased pets including but not limited to: Another two cats, Bertha and Seal, one hit by a truck (nasty neighbors) and the other one carried off by an owl, two tree frogs and a toad, who died while I was on vacation and my mother forgot to give them their daily misting for two weeks (not pretty), a snake (old age), a hedgehog (ditto), a mouse (Quinn’s dog ate it the day she brought it home), a dog named Nola (we had to put her down after she almost killed our neighbor’s dog… twice…), and about twenty cockroaches. Yes, I keep roaches. Deal with it. They’re very cute.
Plus this fish thing I have on Dashboard. It’s very cute, and it predicts the weather (not very accurately, but still better than the local “news” station).
:idea:TNÖ:idea:
You keep COCKROAHES? Cool! Once in New Orlens my mom was drying her hand when this HUGE cockroach (Well, actually it was a palmetto bug, which is just another way of saying “huge cockroach that flies and doen not live in people’s houses” ) I happened to be standing next to her at the time. We both screamed.
From Sam, just Sam:
AH! Cute!
btw thats Nessie the West Highland Terrier I got before Xmas..
we named her because of the Loch Ness Monster
107- awwwwwww!!!! I want your dog!!!!!!!!!
ooh! I love your dog, Sam! She has a great name, too!
Wow, Sam. Nessie is SUPER CUTE!
Experiencing cuteness attack now. Over and out.
We’ve had a lot of pet excitement in the past couple of days.
Last week, my brother’s mice, Frodo and Sam, died of unknown causes. It was very sad and we buried them and such. My friend’s mouse had babies a few weeks ago, so we got 2 new mice (Aragorn and Legolas, sense a theme?) on Friday. They’re dark brown and 4 weeks old and really cute!
I have also had Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches for a few years. We ordered 4 females from the internet. But, they apparently sent us 2 females and 2 males, because 2 years later we had hundreds and hundreds of roaches, of all different ages. I had a really great time with them, watching them grow and molt and such, but it was getting to be a bit much. 300 roaches is a lot. So, we gave them away today. A few of them went to the family that gave us the mice, and the rest went to someone my mom knows that breeds cockroaches and wanted to expand his gene pool. So, the mice inherited the Cockroaches’ aquarium.
We also have 2 cats: Ginger and Beth. When I was younger we had 2 cats as well, Despina and Sangria. Despina died when I was about 3 years old, and she was hit by a car. Sangria died of old age a long time after that. (I’m not sure how old I was, but she was 28.) We also had a dog named Kimba, who was a Samoyed, and she died at age 14 of old age.
We have also had hermit crabs (David and Smeagol), a gerbil, and many fish.
Sorry for the double post, but here is a post I found on the old pets thread about the Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. Ahh, those were the days… ::remembers having only 4 cockroaches::
142. Clara | March 11th, 2006 at 5:24 pm
I have 4 madagascar hissinig cockroaches as pets! We ordered them from a website and ordered all females, but they sent 2 male and 2 female, so now we have lots of baby cockroaches!
*so cute*
105 – awww, so cute! and great name!
I have two cats, Banjo and Peachy, both “adopted” if that’s what you’d say.
I used to have a chocolate lab named Saga. She lived to a very old age. *nod*
And we had a horse named Amigo…
And a fish named Rainbow…
And we have a biiig muddy pond that has mucho the fish. Koi, goldfish, and giant monster catfish.
Kari (114): What sizes are the different fish? Do they live well together, or do they eat each other? My grandma has a pond and she got some strange sort of fish who ate each other. Cannibal fish!
I have a hermit crab named Krabby. I’ve had him for 3 1/2 years
sob… i want a dog very badly…
i have a jack russel lab mix called mayhem. can i send in a picture of her?
Here’s Mayhem!
115 – The goldfish and koi are mediumish. And the catfish are really huge.
I think the catfish eat the other fish.
17- he’s eating my kitty cat! i have a male orange tabby named pixie who looks like that beanie baby!!!
119- Aw… *gives Mayhem virtual pets*
I have three pets: a shih-tzu named Samson, an all black cat with yellow eyes named Licorice, and a tan striped cat with gold eyes named Simba.
Could the GAPAs post the picture of Circles (the cat that owns me) that I sent awhile back? Because there are too many dog pictures on this thread, and-
:idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea::idea:–
This post has been eaten by the HPBs due to inflammatory cat vs. dog content. Thank you and have a nice day.
I love birds and I want to get one, but I’ll be off to college in a few years and I don’t think my parents want to have a bird dropped on them when the dorms don’t let me keep a pet.
I really wanted a cockatiel and they live about 15 years, which would not work with the college unless they allow animals.
I may get finches or a turtle this summer.
Or fish if I lose all hope for being able to keep my other pets in college.
I realllly want a cockatiel though. I love things that fly and I’m going to go to college for something to do with aviation.
I have a cat. I suspect he is an HPB in disguise, as he is extremely cute and extremely evil. *stares at “cat” suspiciously*
My black cat Licorice looks evil at night when it is dark and all you see is “glowing eyes” staring at you.
My sister’s gerbil had babies a few weeks ago and today my mom and I were cleaning the cage. We put the mom in one of those plastic ball things and the babies in a shoebox, and i just sat there and played with the babies.
I found out that 2 of them have deformed feet! One of them is missing a couple of front toes, and another is missing an entire front foot and some of its back toes. I’m going to keep the footless one. It’s the runt of the litter too and it’s so cute!
If I get pictures I’ll send them sometime.
I have a bunny. (Don’t worry, he’s very well behaved and is black, not pink.) And a little fat white mouse, and three loud smelly chickens in the backyard. I want to send a picture of my rabbit in his Halloween costume – he’s so cute!
GAPAs did you get the picture of Stumpy Gerbil?
(130) Here’s Stumpy:
Awww. *melts*
*melts*
132, 133- *brings buckets* *scoops up melted Alice and POSOC* *puts inside freezer* *waits for them to re-solidify*
(134) Very thoughtful of you, Ã߀ƒ.
Aww… *melts*
136- *gets another bucket*
We’d better post a warning about Stumpy Gerbil before the whole blog liquifies. *brings Kokonilly to freezer*
That’s liquefies, with an e, as I’m sure our spelling-contestant MBers will point out if I don’t.
Awww.. *melts partially, then remembers and turns away* Echh. How disgusting.
138- *hangs head in shame for stupid spelling error*
139- *give Turquoise ice packs to stop melting*
*re-solidifies* Wow- that is some serious cuteness.
I love my Stumpy Gerbil!
One of his siblings died yesterday or this morning. It looked sick and we think that it had some sort of internal deformity with its organs, since there were 2 others missing parts of feet.
We think that the parents were brother and sister, because the pet stores aren’t really careful about seperating them. If they are, then the inbreeding would cause problems.
142- I’m glad Stumpy is still OK. He’s so incredibly cute.
143- I think you’ll need to spend a little more time in the freezer. You’re still mushy.
144- *dumb pun*
Yeah, this freezer isn’t working. I still melt whenever I look at the picture. *cuts little window in freezer door* *installs pane of glass* Ha! Now I can melt and be frozen at the same time!
*melts* *considers* *joins Alice in freezer before proceeding to melt again*
I’ve got freezer burn. How’s Stumpy now?
My gerbil Kokopelli (Koko for short) got its leg stuck in the cage and broke it in 2+ places so it has to have it amputated today. I’m wishing it luck! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
*walks to freezer.*
149- Aw, I hope it’s okay!
Today’s my fishy’s birthday! He’s a Beta, or Siamese Fighting fish, and his name is Indigo Stanley Bubbles.
I wish I could bake him a cake or something, but he doesn’t eat cake, unfortunately.
(related to post 149)- Amputation successful (<- is that spelling right?) Koko is alive and well, a little drowsy from the anesthesia but otherwise O.K.! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
(151) Glad to hear it, Logogeo96, and yes, the spelling is correct.
131- AAAAAAAAW! *melts into a giant love puddle for adorable lil Stumpy*
My father’s cat is on her way out. It’s very sad, but I suppose it’s some consolation that she had a long life full of tuna juice and comfortable laps.
154- Aw.
Maybe I shall send in a picture of my darling adorable Noodle.
155- Try to get Lysander in the picture, too. Wungs are notoriously difficult to photograph, but if one concentrates one can usually detect a colorful smudge on the film due to temporoprismatic quantum superposition.
I’m sending in a picture of my kitty kats, even thought this thread is dead. They are Holly and Ivy. (Holly has green eyes, Ivy has yellow).
157-♥ for Holly and Ivy!!!! And the guinea pigs, whom I will meet tomorrow.

My family’s pets:
• Gizmo, a 15-year-old African Peach-faced Lovebird. She is really cute and can make a clicking sound.
• Firecracker, Hibiscus and tangerine’s Siamese Fighting Fish (or betta fish). He is red and and blue.
• Jingle Bell, my betta fish. He is white and purple. I got him for Christmas last year, after my old fish Aquamarine died.
• Assorted fish, shrimp, and snails in my dad’s fish tank. None of them really have names.
Pets my family used to have (sad stories ahead):
• Aquamarine, a betta fish I once had. She was female, and a really pretty turquoise color. When we bought her at the store, she was sick, but not showing any outward symptoms yet. Within a few days of being adopted, she started to grow fungus. We tried several medicines, but eventually she couldn’t swim anymore, and couldn’t get to the surface to breathe, and died.
• Chief, an Arabian horse we leased once. He was a chestnut gelding with white stockings and a white blaze. He was 20 years old, but acted younger. While we leased him, my mom taught me to trot, canter, and even jump a little. But the horse’s owner decided to start putting him in horse shows, and worried about him being rode by kids. So she canceled the lease. I don’t know what happened to Chief afterward.
I am definitely a cat person, although some dogs can be nice too. I wish I had a cat, but we’re renting a house and our landlord’s daughter is allergic to all fur, so I can’t even have a rat or guinea pig.
My Beloved Pets:
DOGS:
Nigel- an English Setter, 5 years old, I show him in 4-H.
Lita- a Lab/German Shepherd cross, 10 years old, retired 4-H dog.
CATS:
Leona-7 or 8 years old, I bottle fed her when she was a kitten. (She was the runt)
Lionel- also 7 or 8 years old, brother of Leona, the biggest cat you will ever see in your life. Seriously. He’s 16 pounds but won’t loose any more weight no matter how hard we try.
CHICKENS:
Tonks- a crazy looking chicken, sister of Lupin.
Lupin- also a crazy looking chicken, brother of Tonks.
Hermione- a regular old hen, has an attitude.
Flitwick- a sweet little chicken.
Ginny- another sweet little chicken, sister of Flitwick.
Maybe I’ll send in pictures. *hopes thread is revived*
I have two dogs, nineteen chickens, and three Japanese fighting fish that sadly passed away (moment of silence)
Dream Pets:
Humpback whale (failed attempt, not enough room in pool)
Llama (my mom is thinking about it…)
Platipus (we haven’t found one yet…)
Monkey ( my dad would kill me)
Goat (if we get a farm)
Rat (really cool but , again, my dad woould kill me…)
Lizard (probably)
Guinea pig (we could get one, I would have to buy it myself)
etc. etc. etc.
That is (estimated) one sixteenth of all the pets I really want but will not reside at my house.
My family never gets roosters because we had three and one alone was like a nuclear missile. Scary.
161- A platypus would be cool, if you could somehow manage the giant poison stinger on their hind feet, I believe.
And your dad would kill you over a rat? A monkey, I understand, but a domesticated rat I think would be fine… not speaking from experience, but they sound pretty cool as long as they are not wild and rabid… *twitches*
163- My scinece teacher said tthat the Playtpuses poisin is only bad if you eat it becase a platapus has no way of secreting/getting rid of it’s posin and there fore posoning you.
164-
But then how would you be able to eat it? *Wiki’-s.*
While both male and female Platypus are born with ankle spurs, only the male has spurs which produce a cocktail of venom… Although powerful enough to kill smaller animals such as dogs, the venom is not lethal to humans, but is so excruciating that the victim may be incapacitated”
165: He would kill me over a rat because to him, the rat symbolizes unheelthiness and germs (which I don’t understand because domesticated rats can be really clean) and he alway wants our house to be clean and to LOOK clean (two different perspectives if you think about it)
164. Really? My science teacher doesn’t even believe that platipus exsist, let alone know how you get poisoned by them.
166 was actually supposed to be for 163. sorry it was a typo.
166- Ooh, I see. My mom wouldn’t allow one either, but then again, the only pet we’ve ever had is fish.
167- Don’t… exist? … *twitches* B-b-bu-but… they do!
167 – That’s incredible. That’s like saying tigers don’t exist.
170- Not really becuase tigers get a bit more attention. I can imagine that people have never heard of a platapus.
171- Well, maybe some people. But they are not really all that obscure. And for a science teacher especially, it’s slightly absurd. o.0
171.
I agree because people didn’t make a movie called “Two Brothers” about two platipus. They are awesome but most people don’t think of them as magestic beasts.
173- Platypodes PWN.
KYAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! I JUST GOT A BABY GUINEA PIG!!!!!!!
12 – A black and white cat named Smudge? Do you read Warriors, by any chance?
I want a rat. I’d call en Nibbles, I think. And I’d train en to walk a tightrope.
SFTDP, but I forgot to say:
105 – Awww!
*melts*
131: Awww… he’s so adorute! *melts* *magically re-solidifies*
175: I’ve always had this little desire to be a hamster or gerbil in one of those really big cages, like in Petsmart. I think it’d be fun to live in a house like that.
I think I shall send in a picture of Zoe. She is motley, but still my dog. She is also orange and lumpy.
Done! I actually found a pretty good picture of her.
Zinc, I cropped the picture so people could get a better look at Zoe herself rather than the couch.
179- Aw…
Yes, that is Zoe, and she is 91. That picture was taken around a year ago. And yes, isn’t she wonderbar?
181- …
In dog years, right?
118–a jack russell lab mix? Do I even want to know how that was, well, you know……I have to hope that the mother was the lab, as otherwise that would likely be horribly unpleasant the other way ’round, when it came time for the mother to whelp. And I have managed to get a much too vivid picture in my mind, regardless of which was which….
Very cute, though! As are all of the pets pictured.
182: …yes. Of course. What were you thinking?
I’m sending in pictures of Emmett the Baby Guinea Pig. Be warned; he is chronically cute.
185 – Yay for pictures! I wish I had a guinea pig.
Zinc, is Zoe a golden retriever? She kind of looks like one.
I am devising a system for st. francis like greetings. This revolves around ‘Enin’, meaning ‘sibling’, but exclusively for people of a differant species. (Normally, its hard to mistake a male of your own species for a female, and vice verse.) Small tropical birds are ‘little brother/sister’ (depending on your gender), unless they are definitely the opposite gender, in which case you use brother or sister. Crows are enins, or less commonly brothers. (sisters if they are definitely female) Little trees are sisters, medium trees are any manner of enins, and great big trees are grandfathers.
MissSwann’s “chronically cute” guinea pig:
Aww … *melts* Emmett looks so pettable! Is he named after the Twilight character?
189- Of course! What else?
He is soft and fluffy and cute, very pettable. The cat is Ivy, and she desperately wants to rip his head off.
160- He’s only 16 pounds??? Feels like 166…
188-Ivy looks like she’s gonna eat Emmett……and yes, he’s only 16 pounds. That’s light, for him!!
191- Of course she does. She tries to on a daily basis… we’re in shock why she didn’t when this picture was taken…
192: I can see the fear in Emmett’s eyes… ;D
*blubbers*
186: She’s part golden retriever. She is a mutt!
I really need to send in pics of my pets……..I sure do have a lot of them……
194- Send in a picture of each individual chicken. That’ll keep the GAPAs occupied…
So, another new piggie! He is Jasper! He’s a BFF for Emmett, and he’s not so lonely anymore. I’ll send a picture in.
I sent a picture of Jazzy! Please post it!!!!!
: / I found a post where I talked about how awesome it was to have a ferret. I miss Bandit. Maybe I’ll find an old pic of her and send it in…
I miss Luna, our old budgie, too. I desperately want another pet, I hate living in a house with no animals. I wish we could get another ferret, but since I’ll only be home for another year and a half before college, there wouldn’t really be anyone to look after one… a bird you can’t cuddle as much, but it would live in the kitchen and get enough social interaction with me gone.
*sigh*
197~ I’m so sorry.
*hugs and choklit*
All these pet pictures are adorable!
Rebecca, among the scads of pictures you’ve taken while at our house did you get any of Circles?
Maybe if you didn’t I’ll send something in…I have a few good ones.
MissSwann sent us these photos of Jasper:
(198) Midnight Fiddler, I’ll have to check through my photos to see. In the meantime, here’s a picture you sent some time ago:
199/200–adorabubble!
Lady B–I just emailed you some pics….
Luna the Lovely’s cat Gandalf:
.
.
He is approximately two years old, by the way….We got him Christmas time 2007, I was told by the vet he was “less than two” (but older than one), so my sis and I decided he was a July baby, so he is now in his second year……
He’s got a thing for suitcases, as you can tell from pic 3–I think it’s his way of saying “Please don’t leave me!”
*sniffle* I miss you, kitty boy!
(200) Circles looks more like a tiger!
202) *sighs* I’m a cat person, and allergic to cats… kinda ironic but sad
205–I knew a woman who was allergic to cats, but she absolutely love ’em, so she had a bunch of ’em anyway….
Gandalf! He is cute!
205- Get some guinea pigs! They don’t dissapoint…
And look at Jazzy/Emmie’s little faces…
207–Aw, thanks. He is such a fluffy little boy. And he’ll literally eat anything. Well, except veggies and fruit. But doritos (yes, I share with him), cheese, raw burger (he wasn’t supposed to, it was thawing on the counter), butter (again, not supposed to), and lots of other stuff. Although, he’s not that fond of fish. Chicken and turkey are his faves.
I see he has a special expression just for the camera
202- He looks like my old cat Gizmo! His fur just looks fluffier.
Gizmo lived to be 21.
200~ Oh yeah, I remember that now!
204~ He’s goofy, when I took that picture he was trying to figure out why I was pointing a little silver box at him instead of petting him….he just had to come investigate. He’s really sweet, but shy around strangers. He loved the HAWK family though.
Luna~ Gandalf is pretty! He looks like he has a real personality.
205~ My mom’s allergic to cats, so Circles lives outside.
211–I love pets who are goofy…..It make ’em so much fun. Circles is really adorable!
Thanks. and yup, he does have a lot of personality. He’s very energetic–loves to tear around the house at top speed, and will chase string for HOURS. Which means I have to pull it for HOURS. But ’tis fun. His favorite thing is to sit and watch the birds when they are eating bird seed on the back porch in winter. It’s so funny to watch him hunker down, tail twitching, as he chatters at them…..
So cute.
208- My cat Neige (she was white
) ate canteloupe. We called her Neigey the Canteloupe Kitty.
210-Gizmo was a buddy.
212- My cats do that! We have a huge sliding glass door in our kitchen, and they watch birds and squirrels for hours… then they perch on the back of the couch and watch the guinea pigs…
So, one of my friends told me that I’ve become boring to talk to because all I talk about is guinea pigs. E.g…
Me: Hey.
Her: Hey.
Me: So, Alice did the cutest thing the other day…
Her: Yeah… so there’s this really cute new guy in my class. His name is Terrence.
Me: Terrence… hmmmm… Terrence would be a good name for guinea pig!
Her: His hair is this cool grey colour.
Me: Ooo, there’s this breed of guinea pig with grey fur! I found a picture of one on CavyMadness…
Her:…
213–oh. my. gosh.
classic
214- Wait, which part?
213 – Alice, Jasper, and Emmett? I’m sensing a theme here …
214–The conversation, I think. I’m really not sure what I was referring to anymore…..
216-
You sense correctly. Alice, Esme, Emmett and Jasper. (You expected any less from me?) Jasper was almost named Carlisle, but my mom liked Jasper better.
Luv ya, Luna.
217-
I want a dog. but I can’t have one
218–My history professor has a kid named Carlisle. His wife recently gave birth to twins, and he showed us a picture, and told us that their names were Carlisle and LouElla (sp????) and I was thinking, omg, those poor, poor children.
220- Carlisle is my Twilight boyfriend. I LOVE him. LOVE. But LouElla is pretty bad.
I want a chinchilla. They are cute and fuzzy.
221- CHINCHILLAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want.
221: Chinchillachinchillachinchilla OOOOHHHH I love chinchillas!!! ♥♥♥
Anyone here have a chinchilla? They used to sell the at Pet Depot but now they don’t.
I don’t have a chinchilla, but once when I was volunteering at an animal shelter I played woth one. They have THE softest fur!
I’m very sad because I have tow guinea pigs and I found out recently that I have a bad allergy to them. I break out in hives every time I cuddle them!
SFTDP
I meant that I have two guinea pigs.
Omg my aunt used to have this shockingly neon orange cat, and it had tons of matted fur and it was so freaky that i alsmost screamed one time. It hated me. I was afraid it would eat my aunt. Then it died. I missed it so much i cried. i was not the kind of kid who tortured animals. Then she adopted a cat from the street. My aunt lives in Moscow and theres like a million happy stray cats there, and once we went and fed them and i saw a kitten and i fell in love with it, evil dad didnt let me keep it. Anywy the new cat is sinisterly sweet to everyone, and my dad, a soul hater of cats, got rubbed by it. I still do held it responsible for the death of the orange neon one.
223- I want one really bad. They’re like $279 though…
224- Oh, you poor thing! I’m so sorry.
226- I’m sorry…
*twitch* There is a guinea pig *twitch* in my shirt/pants *twitch* right now… *SPAZM*
My mom says that if we move to a house where we’re allowed to have a cat, we’ll get one. She also says that we would probably get an Oriental Shorthair, because they have short, fine fur and we wouldn’t have to brush it or vacuum up fur as much. Oriental Shorthair is my favorite breed of cat. ♥
MissSwann, do your cats and guinea pigs get along? Because I also want a guinea pig.
I have one dog named Woody and he is a lot of fun. I want a cat, but he wouldn’t tolerate it. He’d prolly attack it. I am both a cat and dog person, and I honestly wonder why some people prefer one over the other.
And on the subject of chinchillas, I’ve held the nicest chinchilla in the world at a CountryMax with one of my best friends and it was so soft I never wanted to put it down. My friend’s Mom really liked it too.
228- Rainbowstar: Well, they don’t get along with the little boys, but they don’t bother the girls as much because they’re really big. However, they make it clear that they want to make them their prey. My cats are Maine Coon mixes, so it is in their blood to kill any rodent they come across, so it might vary with breed/cat disposition and size of your piggie. I’d reccomend getting two guinea pigs to keep each other company; they get really stressed out and unhappy if they’re alone, anyway.
Time to revive this thread!
I just got two more chickens. Because our neighbor’s dog ate one of our chickens.
That was Tonks. So now we have Hermione, Lupin, Ginny, Flitwick, Luna, and Myrtle/Minerva. (Haven’t decided which name yet for her.) Does anyone sense a theme??
A theme? No, definitely not. I mean, what could possibly link all of those different names together?
Oh, and I’m very flattered that you thought to name one of your chicken’s after me. That was very, very nice of you–I’m honored.
I figured you would be.
I think I’ll send in some pictures.
And we decided on Myrtle for that chicken. She looks like more of a Myrtle.
C’mon people! Come to this thread!!!
Can we have a cute dog contest here? Mine is adorable!
Why not a “general cute animals” contest? You could have a cute cat, or a cute bird, or a cute bunny.
Yeah, that’d be cool!
I have a whippet mix named Starr, two kittehs who are sisters named Daisy and Rosie, and a ferret named Little Lord Faunterloy. Right now my brother is playing with Fauntie. Have you ever seen an animal so cute that you just want to smoosh it? Because that’s the feeling I’m getting right now.
And I like the idea of the cute pet contest. Sign me up!
Oops, Fauntie just bit Cole. Time to break out the Neosporin!
Our Russian Tortoise perished a while ago. Someone send in a few pictures of cute pets to cheer me up, please. *munches comfort chocolate*
I think that I’ll send in some pictureas of my duckies.
GAPAs, did you get the pictures that I sent?
I should send in one of Laser (our cat) and Slinky and Socks (our old hamsters)
We went to the animal shelter on Sunday and there was this cat that was all cuddly and nice ans it sat on my lape like the whole time and reallly liked getting it’s chin scratched and it was prett, all brwn and stripeical and spotted with white paws and I wanted to get it reeeeaaaalllly bad and my mom and dad liked it but Margie dicided to ruin it for everyone and want a playful cat. we already have one playful c at and we want a cuddly one and….*fumes/melts thinking of cuddly kitty*
My guinea pig died a couple weeks ago.
Oh…. *hugs* I’m so sorry, I know how much that hurts. *hugs*
Oh… I’m so sorry about that. I’m sure you made sure en had a happy life, though, and en was most likely happy. *hug*
so sad…
I am probably going to get a hamster tommarow. Can’t decide wether to get long or short furred though
I have two cats, and plenty of photos. Do you want me to send them in?
LUCKY! I want a cat! Unfortunately, my mom is allergic to them. AAAH! And my parental units won’t even let me get a dwarf hamster or a mouse. AAAAAAAAH again!
Speaking of pets, I remember when my hamster died. I felt close to zero emotion. It was just sort of an ‘oh, okay’ situation. It felt really… weird. Like it didn’t happen. Huh.
Laser is acting aufly funny, moving around the kitchen after a fly. when he hunts he makes these weird “me, meh meh memeh meh me meh” and waving his tail everywhere, making it quite comical to watch.
GAPAs, did you get the pictures I sent?
GAPAs, I’m going to send in some pictures RIGHT NOW!
Wow…I didn’t even know there was a thread about this until now. Well, I’ve only ever had fish in my life and my sis is deathly allergic to animals with pets (cats, dogs, and the like) so the chances we’ll be getting one of those soon is minimal. When I was younger, I was scared of dogs so we never got one then either. My dad is thinking of getting a dog once my sis goes away to college though. He’s always wanted one and has always had a dog when he was a kid, so despite my mom’s protests he seriously wants one. Hopefully my sister would not be around it too much, and I’m not sure how her allergies would be when she would come back home……that’s still a few years up the road though.
sftdp
Oops, I meant “animals with fur” not allergic to “animals with pets.” Ha ha.
There are some dogs with hair, not fur. For example, Portuguese water-dogs (like Bo, the president’s dogs) have hair.
Yeah, we’ve considered those. But see, my dad reaaaalllllly wants a Lab, and that doesn’t exactly solve our fur problems….
I have heard that labradoodles shed less than purebred labs. So, if it’s the actual fur aspect she’s allergic to, not the dried saliva flecks on the fur (this is normally what people are allergic to), perhaps a labradoodle would be a nice compromise……
Fish can be wonderful pets, especially tropical fish. If anyone’s thinking about getting some, I can provide some farly good advice.
Some of Ducky’s ducks:
The first one is Molly on Mandy. She was only a day or two old at the time. The second one is Mandy and all the ducklings; from left to right: Linda, Molly, Dinner, Zoe (who is mostly hidden behind Dinner), and Millie. The third one is Bill, and the last one is of Dan and Rita. Dan is the one with the mask.
Aww! The cute duckies are adorable!
Of course they are.
48- AWW! LOOK AT ALL THE CUTE WITTLE DUCKLINGS!
Okay, I’m good.
We’ve had a bunch of pets. We hand guinea pigs a while back, but we finally gave away the last one after the first one died. (Okay, so my sister got one for her birthday. Then we got another to keep it company. That one died. So we got another. Then the first one died. So we gave the third one away.) And we have birds. Parakeets. We just have one right now, but we’ve had as much as three at a time, and we’ve had many many.
*writes out long post about birds and deletes*
If only I could put that much energy into NaNo…
I’ve also had three mice, and I might send in a picture of the only one I have a good picture of, this one. She’s adorable, but I’ll spare you any more details.
I just sent in some more pictures. Sorry.
Hey! I have two cats and two fish. I m unsure of how to post them, so I will describe them. My cats;
Snookie- A girl gray tabby, with an M-shaped mark on her forehead. Is very nervous all the time and *coughmentallyretardedcough*.
Sammy- A boy nearly black cat (he has a small white mark on his chest) with some Siamese cat heritage. He has a long tail, elongated head, and very, very loud meow. Sammy is very curious.
My fish;
Cleo-A calico fish with long fins
I have some fish, and I used to have a really cool fish called a Yoyo Botia. I named him Yoyo Ma because I play the cello, but then he died. He was pretty cool anyway.
