  1. I carried around a towel in my backpack today, and it actually came in handy because we went to the beach to pick up trash and someone fell in. You’re not supposed to go in the water here- it’s been proven to be toxic.

  2. Happy Towel Day! I’m carrying a towel to school, and I’m carrying around the complete trilogy (which is easier because I have the first five in one volume), though I’m forbidden to carry them during my graduation. My mom thinks the whole thing is immeasurably silly. But she thinks that about a lot of things. :D

  3. TOWEL DAY! I unfortunately don’t have a towel. But I had a dream that my sister bought the series for me. :)

    1. You don’t have a single towel anywhere in your home? What do you do when you get out of the shower/bathtub?
I’d love to celebrate, but I’m not going anywhere today.

  4. I’m not going anywhere today, but I have my towel! I also have on my “Obey gravity, it’s the law!” shirt on for extra geek pride.

I feel like I should mention what kind of towel I have, because it’s awesome–it was a freebie from the Stewart/Colbert rally last October, so it’s got the “Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear” with the date and a morphed picture of their heads. :D
I don’t know if they handed out towels because of H2G2, but I have a feeling it was connected.

I just saw that ThinkGeek has a “DON’T PANIC, CARRY A TOWEL” shirt. Must. Have. Now.

    1. I have both of those shirts!
My towel was not nearly as cool. it was simply purple in honor of Ooba.

  5. My friends and I put up signs for Geek Pride day:

    W/ delta t > 9000!!!

    ANGLERFISH
    (you’re welcome)

    It’s spelled

    FUCHSIA

(turn it pink, GAPAs? *winsome smile*)
    Not FUCHIA
    Not FUSHIA
    Not FUSCHIA

And two of my friends put up a banner saying “All Your Base Are Belong To Us”, but it got taken down. D:

    1. I feel that other than the banner, our greatest triumph was to add, among the painted words for ‘hello” in many languages that adorn the wall of our language hallway, “nuqneH” – “Hello” in Klingon.

(No, we didn’t paint on a wall. We taped painted letters to a wall.)

  6. I carried my towel around with me all day, and I shall continue to do so, but nobody got it… Still, it was the best day to bring a towel, because we were playing around with icebergs in science, and I got wet :)

    To Douglas Adams!

  7. Happy Towel Day!

I went to school with a small towel fastened around my neck with a homemade maroon bunny pin. Not a single person knew what I was doing because the girls at our school were supposed to dress up as pirates and I did not look like one. The towel was handy anyways…it was cold this morning and it served as a bandanna.

    To Douglas Adams indeed!

  8. I carried my towel around in my backpack and used it as a picnic blanket at lunch. Didn’t see anyone else with a towel though.

  9. I faithfully wore my towel as a terrycloth toga/ trailing towel cape. It was remarkably comfortable. I got plenty of strange looks from classmates, none of whom got the reference, but two teachers did, so it was worth it. I also had no fellow towel bearers
I made a comic for you guys for towel day, but you will have to wait until I find a scanner or something to send it to you…

  10. So, this is late, but on Towel day my school had a nerd dress-up day. Besides finding that ridicuously countermeaning and stupid, they also announced it “National Star Wars Day.”

    Um, NO.
