More Postcards from the Kokonspiracy

Last month Robert, Rebecca, Midnight Fiddler, and Red-tailed HAWK kokonvened in Washington, D.C. in order to look at art and eat lunch. At least that was the cover story. Our true purpose was to act foolish in public and pose for silly pictures.

Don’t ask. We don’t know what we were doing, either.

Kokopelli sign times four!

Many thanks to the parents who took the pictures for us!

I wish I had a gigantic shiny blue triangle I could pretend to be…

In the first picture, Robert, you look so… I don’t know. You look like you’re an airplane, and you’re happy about it. No. I don’t know.

    But I love the pictures.

    And Rebecca’s shoes.

*BUrsts into fit of laughter* “Don’t ask. We don’t know what we were doing, either.” That is so funny!!!! :D :D :D :D :D It’s my fault for starting the airplane pose, though, for in the begining I was pretending to be a flying HAWK. But there was no stopping a kokonspiracy group from being strange in front of the public once the pose was seen. I think we did a pretty good job, too!

And the Koko signs are fun, once I caught on to how to make them again  I hadn’t made them in so long! Hey, we are all aiming our koko signs towards the middle! That was good planning…

  5. Quintessentia says:

Is the Koko sign three fingers on each hand? I must learn this.

When I was raking leaves yesterday for community service, a girl was talking about how the upperclassmen in her dorm have invented all these high-fives that have math connections. The “cosine graph” and the “tangent line”, for example. Amusing.

  6. Cinnamoon says:

I might move to DC. No, seriously. A member of my family has a job interview there in January. If I do, can we have another KoKonvention that I can come to?
(And Alice, if I don’t move to DC next summer, I’m almost definatly moving to Washington state, so we can have a ko-kon there. And even if I do move to DC, then I will certainly be visitng Washington state a lot. Everyone’s a winner! Except for me, because I’ve got to leave all my friends. Fun Fun)

  7. purplefinch says:

4-Oh, yes, I have to say I’m usually very happy as an airplane. It’s pretty preferable to being, say, a helicopter, or a school bus or a tugboat. You just look like an especially blissful airplane. XD

That is quite awesome. And Robert’s comment about being an airplane just made me pee myself in laughter. Well, not quite. But it still made me burst into hysterics.

    (13) I’ll be in Chicago at the end of January. It’s not the most pleasant time to Kokonvene, but it’s possible.

  21. Rebecca Lasley (Administrator) says:

(2, 8 ) Thanks, those are purple sandals with hot pink socks.

It’s an unusual experience for me to have footwear worth commenting upon. I gave up on shoe stores completely a couple of years ago and turned to mail order. Even then, the pickings are slim for feet as long and narrow as mine. I was so excited to discover these, I wrote this bit of doggerel about the find:

O for the golden days of bare feet tempered by poolside and hot sand,
crumbles of glass, rubble of asphalt; to set aside once more
the petty indignities imposed upon the size 11 Narrow foot
cramped into a size 8 Wide world.

O prithee for a hint of flair! a wisp of grace and elegance to hap bedight
the extremities too often by the merchants slighted!
Begone dull styles befit a clodhopping granny, available in one’s choice
of black; or if the stars align, the entire enticing spectrum of brown.

A thousand windows of the internet launch and close.
    A thousand pair of shoes scroll by, indistinguishable;
another season for the same scuffed and tattered sandals looms
when lo these wavering eyes light upon the unthinkable:
in size 11 AAAA, PURPLE shoes.

O bold lavender, thou amethyst divine!

Can I resist thy wanton charms,
    settle for the suitable,
the selection that portends no war
    with wardrobe or professional mien?
But yet can I with good conscience dis
    the miracle before me?

    What, choice have I?

(22, 23) That’s okay, RtH. Hmm. Crraw seems to be haunting this thread. But you’re right, soaring pwns.

(13, 14, and anyone else) We weren’t even sure this would happen. But I was determined not to miss the J.M.W. Turner exhibit at the National Gallery of Art and enlisted the company of a couple of MBer families who were willing to work with the possibility I might have to cancel at the last minute.

It was great, and I feel so lucky to be able to have been able to get to know some of the GAPAs more. It’s funny, you’re talking to them and then you just think, “Oh my gosh, I’m talking to a GAPA! This is every muser’s dream, how can I be so incredibly privileged?!” Truly, it’s just like that. For me, anyway.
Then I think of all the stupid things I’ve probably said on here and I wonder what the y really think…..kidding. ;)

Oh, and the soaring pose? R-tH started it and then it took off. (Pun intended, even though it was a bad one.)

28-“Ridiculously tal”!! :) Am I that tall? I don’t know about that, or if MF is especially short. At least I don’t feel like I have to strain to see people below me, as people might imagine ;)

    27~ Capitals?
    29~ I’m honored.
30~ Being ridiculously tall (or short) depends on who on e is with. For example, I am taller than my Mom’s choir director, but two pf my best friends (who are younger than me and girls) are both taller. R-tH is way taller than me, but he’s a boy. But he’s also 2 or 3 years younger.
In the second picture especially, I look very short.

Chicago in January. Brrr. *shivers* I’ve done that before, walking several blocks in the snow and wind. COLDCOLDCOLDCOLDCOLDCOLDCOLD. *turns blue*

I’ll be passing through Chicago this month on the way to Wisconsin to spend Christmas with my grandparents. Wish I could meet a few musers, but I’m afraid there won’t be time. Besides, sometimes all we really see is the train station. Except for this summer when the clutch on the car broke and we were stuck in traffic for several hours.

The triangles are part of the National Gallery of Art, in Washington D.C. Unfortunately they probably wouldn’t fit into your room, unless you have a huge one. Besides, I don’t think the mantenance people would appreciate you taking them very much. ;)

According to this one website I found, I’m in the 6th percentile for height and 21st percentile for weight. Which, unusually enough, is a healthy range.

According to another website I’m somewhere between the 10th and 25th percentile for height and the 25th to 50th for weight.

So basically, I’m well below the 50th percentile in everything, especially height. xD
