ICBF’s Hair looks a bit like RC’s.
Did my dad send that, or another parent?
Anyways, we’ll send more pictures just as soon as we get around to it. (And get the parents to e-mail the GAPAs saying that’s okay)
From left to right: IBCF, Alice, Cat’s Meow
Yay! Thanks, GAPAs!
More pictures will come later, probably tomorrow.
3 – Yeah, since Alice’s dad won’t be able to e-mail the GAPAs until tonight or tomorrow.
Flamablamablous!!
How did it go? What did you do?
wow. where are they?
5 – Awesome. First we met at the carousel and went on it once, and then we went to lunch. Then we went walking for a little while until we came to the library, where we hopped on the laptops Alice and I brought and went on MuseBlog. (Where else?) Then we went to IBCF’s house, had pie and ice cream and explored his tree house (adding our own drawings of hot pink bunnies and Koko as well) and then blogged some more. It was fun.
6 – Spokane, Washington. Standing on a bridge in front of the Spokane River.
1- Why, thank you! It’s nice to have your hair be compared to a GAPA’s hair.
5- Lots of stuff! We rode on a merry-go-round, ate lunch, went to a library and posted on our laptops, and then went to my house, where we ate pie and ice cream.
6- On a bridge over a raging river, obviously.
Can we send pictures with our faces? Have we gotten everyone’s permission?
(8) We don’t have permissions yet, but you can go ahead and send them. We can get them ready for posting in the meantime.
8 – I don’t think my dad has yet…I’ll get him to, though. And Alice’s dad probably hasn’t, since they’re driving home right now.
Aargh. I’m not good at waiting.
9 – Oh, okay. I’m trying to pick out the best pictures from the day, since we took so many.
Is 10 too many? Since IBCF and Alice will probably be sending some too…
(11) Send what you like. We can’t promise to post every single one, but we can accommodate a fair number. We can collage them or make slideshows as needed.
Okay, I had my mom send permission. Check your e-mail.
11- Just send those ones, and me or Alice will send any that you missed.
Looks like fun! IBCF’s hair does look rather like Robert’s….wow.
I can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures, it must have been great.
Meow–did you send the photo of us ready to deliver pies into Alice’s face? That’s one of my favorites.
12, 13 – All right.
My parents are working on sending in permission/pictures right now.
(13) We got it.
(16) We also have pictures and permission from Cat’s Meow’s dad.
15 – Yup.
It ended up looking really cool.
There’s a picture from pretty much every part of the day, from the carousel to the library to your house.
*looks at pics* Ugh, my cheeks look chubby when I smile like that.
19 – That just made me crack up. A lot.
GAPAs, my dad has sent both permission and pictures;
I love your sweater Alice! looks like fun! good choice of issues, all!
Do you have any photos that actually show your faces?
(22) They do.
Looks like it was a beautiful day. Yay.
Hello, hello! Yes, Daddy is emailing the GAPAs right now, I believe…
THAT WAS AWESOME. There are no words to describe how awesome that was. It was so weird to actually be…open, in real life. Usually I’m very quiet, and there I was talking a mile a minute and was actually comfortable around people outside the blog. And we did record ourselves singing the Spector House Song, but it went rather badly. We sang out of tune and I laughed in the middle. And then IBCF’s brother came out of his room and stared at us.
It was amazing. I am so, so happy. And I ate IBCF’s chocolate bunny on the way home. I ate the head last but it sort of crumbled so I couldn’t take a picture of the bodiless rabbit.
21- Thank you. It’s my favorite sweater. I got rather hot in it, though.
22- Lots and lots.
21- Me too! I want it. I have a sweater similar to that, but it’s green and it has a big honking nail polish stain on the back.
25- Where exactly did you get The Sweater? *is copying your style*
25- Too bad about the bodyless chocolate bunny. It would have been a great help to our research. Ah, well.
I can’t wait to see the rest of the photos!
25, 27 – Yeah, I ate mine on the way home. First ears, then head, then body, but the body was falling apart. Oh well.
GAPAs, do you have permission from all of the parents yet?
Permissions are all granted. I’ve put the photos at the top of the page.
29 – Awesome! Thank you!
Oh, the pictures are here!
W00t!
They’re super cool pictures!
31 – Yup. My dad sent those in last night.
32 – Thanks. ^_^
26- My style is made hard to copy by the fact that I get most of my clothes second-hand… I think the sweater came from a thriftstore.
There are a LOT of pictures! Haha.
I’m sorry I haven’t sent in the recording yet; yesterday my computer went wonky and refused to accept the fact that it was hooked up to a wireless connection. Hopefully it’ll work when we get home to the ethernet.
My hair became increasingly tangled as the day went on.
It’s so much fun to see how you all look! That really does look fun. *is jealous*
I like The Sweater too, it’s cute.
Was that picture of a piece of wood with Mostly Harmless and bunnies on it something at IBCF’s house? It looked like a tree house or something to me.
That looks like so much fun! I love your hat, Alice. And your shirt, Cat’s Meow. And the treehouse, ICBF. And, of course, the pies… *hides*
35- Yes, that’s right. We brought a box of colored pencils up to the tree house and drew dozens of Musish things on the wood. It was great fun!
34 – Perhaps that’s a good thing, all things considering.
35 – Yup, it was IBCF’s treehouse. I think Alice’s dad had some pictures of the treehouse when we were up there.
37~ Lucky! I’ve always wanted a treehouse.
34~ All the clothes I have, save a few, are fron secondhand places. Sometimes people get annoyed when they ask me where I got something, oh well.
*Hopes I don’t Offend Cats Meow and ICBF!*
Alice, You are the least geeky there.
Whoa. *mental images of IBCF, Alice and Cat’s Meow are ripped to peices*
I’m so glad that you guys had fun!
IknewIBCFwasaguyIknewitIknewitIknewit!*clears throat*In any case. For some reason, all my mental pictures of Alice are of a woman in her twenties. This is possibly because of all the Muse Fancitions floating around.
*Fanfictions… I couldn’t see anything and I was distracted by the people who I don’t know in my living room.
Almost all of my clothes are from thrift stores as well. Except for, of course, Musery.
How high up in the tree is the treehouse?
Alice~ Remember how you said before that we look alike? Dad was just looking at the pictures of your Kokon. and exclaiming over how much you we do!!
The one in which IBCF and Meow are about to pie Alice looks startlingly familiar.
43- About as high as the second story of a building. I should send another picture…
40 – Aww, thanks.
Looks like you had a good time. And good pies.
Cat’s Meow, you look almost exactly how I imagined you.
Alice and IBCF, you look totally different from how I imagined you.
48- Um, how did you imagine me?
I’ve sent a picture with a better view of us in the treehouse, GAPAs. Expect mail soon.
47 – Definitely!
We’re already kind of hoping we can get together again or something in the summer. We will find something. Alice will not be rid of us Spokanites. Mwa-ha-ha!
48 – That’s good, right?
49 – Yay, pictures are fun!
49- Short.
IBCF is a boy????
52- YES!!!
52 , 53 – Don’t worry, Zoe means life, I didn’t know that either until about 2 months ago.
40- Ha ha. This is one of the simplest outfits you will ever see me wearing.
I sent the recording.
Any yes, Daddy has some pictures of us in the tree house. They didn’t turn out too great, most of ’em, ’cause Meow and I were rather absorbed in our work and not looking at the camera at all. But there’s one that’s kinda nice, maybe I’ll send it in.
55 – NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
WHOA COOL PICTURES W00T!!!!!
53-I knew you were a boy
TMFA-Be kind, remember, IBCF and Cat’s Meow are both in Zemtee
50-So you live close enough to each other to get together again?
IBCF looks pretty much how I would have pictured him. Perhaps PC thought he was short because his name is short. But I didn’t think of him as short myself. IBCF’s hair does look like Robert’s somewhat, and that’s sort of how I pictured it. *Pastes new picture in brain*
Cat’s Meow looks somewhat how I pictured her. *Pastes new picture in brain*
Alice does look like Midnight Fiddler! Not exactly, but similar enough! Alice looks somewhat how I would have pictured her too. *Pastes new picture in brain*
See, what happens is, I see the pictures and then forget what I thought you all looked like
The pictures all pwn. And in none of the pictures do any of you have a strange look on your face, as my face usually seems doomed to be in
Well, it’s not that bad, but I think with fewer people at the kokonvention it was easier to get everybody paying attention
Man, looking at this makes me want to have another kokonvention…
Red-tailed HAWK

I wish I could go to Kokonventions, but my parents would never let me plan a meeting with a bunch of people I only met online. I can understand their reasoning, too… I mean, that’s the classic scenario for pedophiles and kidnappers to ensnare their victims.
55- AAAAAAAAAUUUUUUGH!
57- PC probably thought I was short because I’m so immature. Which is quite reasonable.
58-
*suddenly becomes paranoid*
-8 i didn’t mean like, what are you standing on. i meant where on this planet, are you?
58-PC, I agree with you to some extent. This kokonvention’s bloggers were very brave to go off to a kokonvention with no GAPAs. But Kokonventions with GAPAs and many parents and such are a bit safer. The GAPAs can enforce rules such as that every kid must have a parent along, so it would be extremely unlikely anything would happen. What I find scary is how the whole email thing happened.
And that is harder to control.
Red-tailed HAWK

58- Oh, certainly. Which is why you must always bring your parents along with you, so that they are there to make sure that the people you’re meeting aren’t evil and scary.
But yes. I’m sorry. *feels sorry* You live in North CA, right? I could never get there anyway… (Actually if I timed it right, I could. Daddy has friends down there, and I want to go see their huge fields of lavender sometime.)
61- We did contact the GAPAs first, and we brought our parents, so it’s not that bad. And I’ve always been careful with emails, and Meow and IBCf don’t have anyone else’s emails, I don’t think, so the email thing will not happen again (that was scary, though… I didn’t want to check my email for a long time after that).
I don’t think it was that bad, or we were very reckless. It didn’t have any GAPAs, sure, but each of us had one adult we could trust before we set out, so nothing terribly bad could really have happened even if some of us did turn out to be scary evil people, which we didn’t.
60- It’s on the title on this thread, ZVX.
63 – Yeah, what you said.
I think we did a good job of making sure we were all safe, since we all had adults with us and the GAPAs knew the parents were involved and stuff. It would have been way different if Alice had hitchhiked across the state and our parents didn’t know where we were or anything like that.
This is so weird! Now IBCF, Alice and Cat’s Meow have FACES!
Alice, I’m sorry, but that last picture just looks disturbing.
Everyone just looks so different… I don’t know how to explain it, but the pictures of you guys and the posts don’t connect in my mind.
66- I perfectly understand. The mind is different then the body, isn’t it?
Woah these are so cool!
I like The Sweater too.
I want to have a Kokonvention!
You all look so different than I thought you would.
34- I get most of my stuff from a thrift shop I work at. Employee discounts and all that.
Alice, you look younger than I imagined you. Same w/ Cat’s Meow. IBCF, you look exactly how I pictured u.
OH MY GOSH. ALICE, YOU LOOK LIKE BELLA SWAN.
66 – I’m still having trouble connecting Blog Alice with Real Life Alice and (especially) Blog IBCF with Real Life IBCF.
IBCF, you don’t act much like your blog self in real life. =O
68- I’ve been plugging for a New York City one in the Summer. Within your range?
70- From you, I’ll take that as a compliment. Thank you.
71- Even at the kokon, it was hard to imagine that I was meeting the people behind the posts…
We’ve got to do this again sometime.
73 – Yes, I know. It’s even a bit stranger now, now that you guys are posts again.
And yes. We have to.
72-I might go there for a few days, along with DC (for sure) and Philadelphia (maybe).
My sister is going to a music camp in DC so I’m tagging along. My mom says she might take me to NYC and my dad says he might visit his sister in Philly and have my mom leave me with him on the way back or something.
Sooo…Around the end of July I’ll be in DC, and mybe the other places. I wrote about it on the more Kokonventions thread too.
57~ You’re always welcome here! I’ll email when it comes to be bonfire season, maybe you can come out for one of them.
72~ I might be able to go to NY, but I’m not sure. Luckily my parents are really excited about MuseBlog and Kokonventions- excet for the fact that I spend so much time thinking about them….
DC, on the other hand, would probably be very easy to convince my parents to take me to a kokon there. Maybe VA, too- I know of a flamablamablous pie shop in Williamsburg! *thinks about pecan pie samples* *ideas in escasy*
This picture gives you a better idea of what the tree house looks like.
73, 74- Agreed. Maybe sometime in the summer…?
77- Awesome. Thanks, Rebecca!
77~ Wow, that looks really nice!
Treehouse! *wants*
IBCF, you have the most amazing tree house EVER. I already told you this.
79, 81- Thank you. *tries to sound modest*
Wow, that’s the flamablamablousest FLAMABLAMABLOUS tree-house ever!!
Did you build it yourself? (Or, someone in your family, etc.) If so, how?
I’ve had several plans to make a treehouse, but I never have. Hmm, maybe this summer, I dunno.
83- Er, well, we kind of cheated. We hired carpenters.
85- *laughs head off*
Sorry. I found that really amusing for some reason.
Hey GAPAs, did you get the song?
(87) Yes, we have the song. No time to upload it tonight, I’m afraid.
87- OK. Just wondering. It’s really awful, isn’t it? The person who’s trying not to laugh would be me.
88 – It’s reeeeeeaally awful.

Great picture of the treehouse. You really don’t get all its awesomeness in that picture, though, like the solar panel and the ladder and the cord that the squirrel chewed.
89- “Reeeeeeaally awful” is putting it mildly.
a lot of my clothes are second hand too.
I like Alice’s hat, too.
Ooh, pretty treehouse!
there is one that I know of that is two stories. I’ve even been up in it as my mother and I were walking by when the guy who owned it was out working on his boat or something.
*is majorly jealous*
I want a treehouse with a Kokonvention happening in it!
All the trees behind my house are either too close together or too dumb for treehouses.
IBCF, your treehouse is amazing!
Drat. None of you look like anyone I know in Spokane. Of course, the number of non – family people I know in Spokane can be counted on my hands, but oh well. Next time I’m in Spokane, we need to have another ko konvention. Definately.
Wow. I never imagined any of you looking like that. I would love to go to a Kokonvention, but unfortunately my parents are in the same mindset as post 58, so that would never happen. So I just have to keep randomly bumping into MBers at events. (I’ve already met two at spelling bees.)
93- So do you know if you’re moving to WA yet? *is hopeful that you will move next-door* A Spokane kokonvention is going to be hard for me to repeat in a while.
95- It really depends. We’ll know on Thursday. You live along the coast, right? If we do move, we’ll probably stay with my grandparents in Spokane for a while, then either move to Spokane or along the WA/Oregon coast.
Wait a minute… Cat’s meow, what’s your first name?
96- On Thursday? Really? O.O Yes, I live on the coast. It’s really very lovely, even if there is a danger of dying by tsunami in the near future. Just get a house on a hill, and you’ll be fine.
85- Why, you nasty little thing. [not that i did the smae thing or anything HACKHACK]
BTW where is the next kokon?
Cat’s Meow looks scarily familiar. I’m sure I’ve seen her somewhere before, but I’m not sure where.
101-SAME HERE.
Cat’s Meow, have you ever been to *names everywhere I’ve been*?
Cat’s Meow looks like Aiyana in Mrs. Hogdon’s class.
Cat’s Meow, are you Aiyana?
97 – Not Cat and not Meow.
101, 102, 103 – Um. Apparently a lot of people look like me?
103 – Not Aiyana either.
i need a west coast kokon!
and who’s who again?
105- IBCF is the boy, Meow is the one wearing a HPB t-shirt, and I’m the one with The Sweater.
And I can’t help but mention that IBCF is wearing the STANFORD T-shirt.
This message brought to you by Rosanne Spector, Editor, Stanford Medicine Magazine.
107- Yeah, GO STANFORD!

107 – I did notice that.
Rosanne (107): I noticed that, too! *bows down to Le Editor*
Hey, Robert went to Stanford, too. That isn’t where Rosanne and I met, though.
111- My dad went to Stanford, and a sister of mine currently resides there. I’m not sure if I’m heading there, though…
104- I gathered that. You just look like someone I might know.
well, I was thoroghly under the impression that IBCF was a girl. I hope it was a fun konvention! *is insanely jealouse*
114- Very very fun!
[sighs] I need an East coast kokon. I am insanely jealous.
IS ANYONE GOING TO BALTIMORE THIS SUMMER???
Last half of June?
117 – Actually, I might be going there at the end of June. Depends on whether my family feels like it and whether it overlaps with Science Bowl.
118 – Ooh, maybe we could have a Kokon! Another Muser (not a MBer) will be there too.
everyday is a Canadian Kokon. for Kagy! actualy there are two other musers in my city, one of which was my grade six teacher (I introduced her to muse) and the other is some girl at my brothers school. whom I deffinitely don’t know.
119 – I talked to my parents and they said that we’re not going. Oh well.
120 – You live in Canada?
121 – Drat.
Cat’s Meow, i look a LOT like you…it’s creepy……..
only you smile more.
117- Maybe… if I convince my parents (mascara’d eyelashes for intense batting)
i wish i could have a kokon, but does anyone on MB live in Oregon?
that’s where i’m located.
125- Yes, me.
177~ I could easily get to Baltimore, depending on the time. For anyone getting there, I’d recommend going to see the USS Constelation, it’s a beautiful ship.
127 – I’m attending a gathering there. We don’t have the schedule yet, but I’ll keep you posted. I’ll be there for about a week.
I’m also open to a Twin Cities kokon.
Sounds like y’all had a lot of fun…*bites back jealosy* NZ Kokon anyone? ummmmm….cant say name of city—
China Kokon? on the 16 April? Shanghai?
yeah right.
see you!!!!!!!
post more photos!!! theyre pretty cool—did only 3 people go though?
129 – Yeah: Alice, Cat’s Meow, and IBCF.
AT LEAST ONE OTHER MUSEBLOGGER SHOULD BE SOMEWHERE IN MINNESOTA, IOWA, OR WISCONSIN!!!!!!!!
That’s really awesome. I wish I could’ve gone…arrrgh…
I know there are people in my area at least… I live in california. A kokonvention would be so cool, but I’d probably have to do it over summer break *sigh*
132- Hm… Could you be specific enough as to tell me what region you live in? I have a lot of relatives in California.
Aargh. My boldness did not work. I meant to make only the word “one” bold. Ah well, it looks good.
The GAPAs should sponsor one huge kokon every year, in DC or some big awesome city like that.
I just sent four more pictures. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize there wqas a way to make them smaller without messing them up, so it’s sort of a large email…
123 – I’m at a Kokon with 2 of my best MuseBlog friends. How can I NOT smile? ^_^
Ah! Meow! I was thinking of emailing you, but since you’re here, I can just tell you:
Get ye to the Sea Roc RRR! We’ve done a lot in the past two days or so.
I really like that emoticon.
138 – Yeah, yeah, sorry. I do that a lot, don’t I?
-heads over to the Sea Roc thread-
And yeah, the
smiley is one of the best…a lot of the ones on other websites just look strange.
I’m bored, so I’m reading old MB threads…here’s one from 2006.
http://www.musefanpage.com/blog/?p=227
A lot of people were wishing there would be MuseBlog conventions. And look where we ended up?
133-lesse…how specific can I be… can I say I live pretty much on the coast?
140- *is boggled* I’m still looking for the “good old days” people talk about… I haven’t found them yet.
In fact, I’m fairly sure I could read through all the threads AND the Gaboomba, and I wouldn’t find a time better then late Spring/early Summer 2007.
…Although now is a pretty good time.
ANYWAY, I’ll stop posting multiple times in a row now.
Mother just looked at the pictures. She says we need to send the first one in to the magazine, and of course I was like, “WOW! We should! I can’t believe we didn’t think of that!”
Maybe we should write a collective letter…
yeah, You should!
Really? The one with your faces covered?
There should be an article about MBers every… oh, I dunno… six months or so. Like, our hobbies and such.
147- Si.
Why the one with our faces covered? We could do the fourth one down, where we’re standing on the bridge just holding the magazines.
129 – oh so being in class with me every day isnt a Kokonvention for you?!?!?!? i’m hurt deeply
129 – oh so being in class with me every day isnt a Kokonvention for you?!?!?!? i’m hurt deeply!
141- Do you live anywhere near San Fransisco?
135-DEFINATLEY hahahahahahaha
129-dont you worry! its still pretty cool (freaky, wierd and absolutley paranormal, but cool)
sorry for the double post-wow Alice, your’e really pretty! I sorta imagined you like another Alice I know,
155- Wow, thanks.
154 – I know. What are the chances. I move 9000 miles away and I happen to be in the same town, school, classes, and we are both in the Science Club and we just happened to be the two people picked for the Marine Biology Program. Its REALLY scary if you ask me. I beleive in fate though (sometimes) so I just think that it happened for a reason. Maybe our lifes goal is to create a branch of Mostly Harmless down in boring old (snip) or maybe there will be a New Zealand invasion of HPBs???
Who knows……….
Awesome guys! It’s cool to see you!
Hmmmmmmmm. I doubt that any other Museblogger lives near me.
And even then, if I asked my parents, they would insist that anyone I wanted to meet was an online stalker. *sigh*
153-aha! *taps nose* es el correcto! or something like that…
132- HI!
I mean 130- Hi!
161 – Really? What state? Maybe we could have a kokon.
132-wow, actually same state for once. I’ve noticed a lot of MBers live near Chicago, so I’m wondering if Muse is advertised more there…
163 – That’s where Muse’s HQ is, so it would make sense.
159- moi also.
164- HQ? What the heck?
and I’ve noticed nearly everyone else (on MB at least) is older than me..WAAAAH!
I used to live near San Francisco…very near where IBCF’s talking about, if I remember correctly.
…which gives me the feeling that if i went to a kokon everyone would look at me and think, what is this midget doing here?
166 – HQ = Headquarters…
Muse is based in Chicago, so it would make sense that lots of Musers live near there.
And a lot of people here are older than me (I’m 13), but it doesn’t bother me much.
168 – Not really. I just turned 13, and IBCF and Alice are a year-year and a half older than me. Plus I’m really short, so I could probably be mistaken for 11. But it wasn’t bad at all. Alice was about my height, and, honestly, if you judge someone on age/height, you’re not a very good MuseBlogger.
Especially since, on the blog, we’ve learned to know and like people without knowing what they look like. I’ve found (from the one Kokon I’ve had, and I can guess what would happen with other people) that if you can like someone without caring what they look like online, you can probably like someone without caring what the look like offline.
Wow, that was almost a rant, wasn’t it?
169-yeah, but im even younger than that…
and there are quite a few 13-year-olds here.
And it doesn’t make sense, because my friend who lives VERY close to Chicago says she never heard about MUSE until I started raving to her about it.
171 – That’s possible…Muse doesn’t do much advertising.
Around-13-ers too.
172- yes, but we obsessors are like walking billboards, most of the time. I’ve been egging my teachers to get a subscription for class, but they’re like, “No, it’s probably a celeb mag.” And then I bring in my ‘collection’ to show them that it is NOT.
Anyway, they still won’t go for it (idiots).
173- They aren’t idiots….muse isnt full of ads, so its rather expensive…….the school could go bankrupt.
Wow…….i think gimanator is the only MBer ive noticed so far who lived relatively close to me…..kokon?
166 – I’m 11. You? I feel small here sometimes. I came here at age 9. I felt VERY small then.
175-hey, that would be cool! I wonder if anyone else could come… wait… are we saying that if we ddid/do have a kokon, it would be in san francisco, with you, IBCF, and me?
176- I’m 11. Almost twelve. And looking like I’m 16 (i hate boobs).
Okay, I found out that I’ll be at Space Camp from June 27 to July 3, so anytime in July is fine for an NYC Kokonvention.
I want to have a kokonvention! In Oregon, yay! (maybe) Ummm, I’ll be at summer camp and school all through June. I’ll be with family in California in… August? No, July. No, August! Ack, I can’t remember. But, I’m not busy except for those two things. Oregon rocks.
I wonder why so many MBers live on the west coast. Hm. Maybe I’m just wondering why all the Sea Roc posters live on the west coast.
Nobody’s posted on this thread for a while, so maybe nobody will notice my pleading for a kokovention. Hmmm.
NOBODY!
180- Northern or Southern California? I’m in Northern.
180 – The summer Kokon that IBCF, Alice, and I are planning is going to take place in Oregon. If only there was an easy way to tell you where it was taking place…
And, actually, there aren’t many MBers on the west coast, comparatively. There have been tons of Kokons in Chicago and D.C., but the Spokane one was the first one on the west coast that we know of. Alice and I were wishing for a west coast/Washington Kokon for ages, but everyone was spread out enough that it wasn’t really worth it to just have a 2 person Kokon if you have to drive all that way.
180- OK…do you live anywhere near Portland? I live a long ways from there, but it’s not as far as Spokane.
I live not-so far away from Portland. ummmm, I live far enough away that it’s a rather boring car ride in prospect, but in reality, the time can be passed fairly quickly by looking out the window. If that helps at all.
184- !!! OK, kokonvention time… Hmm…
How would Memorial day work for you? I can talk to my mom about it, although I’m fairly sure she works that day.
If it comes to it, I have this faint hope that some grown-up, be it Mother, Daddy, or someone from Meow’s or IBCF’s family, will take us to Portland during the summer kokon to meet you.
Woah, that soon? I might have some English homework. Poems, bleh. I like to write them, but I hate analyzing things, and that’s what you have to do to understand most poetry.
Wait, I just remembered! We were going to go to Mt. St. Helens over Memorial Day Weekend, so we could stop in Portland for a while on the way, if that works. I still have to talk to my parents, too.
186- The weekend won’t do, I’ll be in Santa Barbara. We could meet briefly around ten o’clock at night next Thursday, if you wanted, but that’s a bit late, don’t you think?
Wait…Mt St Helens?
My mom’s about to get off the phone, so I’ll get the info in a sec.
Nope. Not gonna work. Unfortunately, my mom’s days off and my days off do not correspond.
So she doesn’t get Memorial Day off? I don’t think my mom does either. So, sometime later. Maybe around the 4th of July? I get out of summer camp then.
I live somewhere around [Snip! Too specific. Let’s just say “southwestern” –Admin.]] OR. that’s a ways away though, for someone to drive.
188- Well, she works in a restaurant, if it’s closed on Memorial day I will be very surprised. But the main reason why it won’t work is Opal. While Mother and I are frolicking through Southern California, Opal will be sitting in the country with her eyes glued to a screen. Therefore, we must get home ASAP so that she spends a minimum amount of time with her eyes glued to a screen.
The 4th of July might work.
Well, it’ll have to be summer, because between now and mid-June, Memorial day is my only day off.
Not the exact day. I don’t get out of summer camp until about 10:00 pm. It’s a music camp where we stay in dorms, and that night is our final concert, which is a relief because for the past two years I had to be in camp for the 4th. We couldn’t stay up past 9:00.
Ummm maybe a couple of days after.
191- Well, Opal’s birthday is the 5th, and the kokon begins on the 14th… so there should be plenty of time to get together in between those dates. On a Wednesday or Thursday, prob’ly.
I wonder how Mother’ll react to my wanting to go to a (mini mini) kokon, now that I’ve already been to one. *hopes she won’t mind*
Another kokon?
Any Northeastern MBers wanting a kokon?
193- Yeah, IBCF and Meow are coming to my town for a week or so in July. I’m terribly excited.
194- Well, I’ve been wanting a New York City one, is that convinient?
196-Maybe in the summer… Who else lives around there?
Also, how do you organize a kokon if you can’t tell your address or town?
197- Have it in a large, well-known city. Later, when you all have each other’s contact info, you can arrange them in smaller towns.
198-Like NYC?
195- coolio. Maybe they could come, too.
200- I know. I hope we can all make a trip to Portland while they’re here. *becomes excited*
*Is excited as well*
Alice, so the Portland kokon is sorta set for sometime after the 14th of July so IBCF and Cat’s Meow could come, too?
203- Yeah, I think so.
Argh! I desperately want to disclose an approximation of my location, but I am far too internet paranoid. *gulps* *struggles with inner dilemna*
203 – I believe so. I’m sure my parents will be fine with it, and probably IBCF’s as well.
205 – What region? North/west/south/east?
Bad news. My ability to participate in the Oregon trips depends on my being able to pull off “A”‘s in Biology and Geometry this semester. And right now, I have “B”‘s. Low “B”‘s.
207- Oh!…
*bites lip*
That’s bad.
Very bad.
NYC or Boston Kokon? Anyone?
209- Me! Anytime after July 5th.
207 – That’s not good. Not good at all.
210-Some July weekend could work…
208, 211- And to make matters worse, my dad shut off my e-mail account. Because of “B”‘s! Sheesh!
Why would he do that
212- I’m good with that. Maybe at the American Museum of Natural History?
214- Because I got “B”‘s and he doesn’t like “B”‘s
Okay
215-That sounds about right. Museums are fun! Is anyone else in the area, or is it just the two of us?
217-I think there are a few more.
-216 OH.
IBCF- Why’s you getting Bs? If you don’t understand stuff, I could definitely help in Geometry. In Biology, I’m not learning anything either. Crummy teacher.
If only we could have another one in Chicago. It would be so fun to go. ARGH! When will I get to go to one…….
I have a kokonvention every day! At school! Hee hee…….
213 – Are you serious? That stinks!
What’s going to happen if IBCF can’t come to the Oregon Kokon this summer? Do Alice and I have a Kokon and not IBCF? Do we try to find some other time when it might work? Do we just call it off altogether?
220- No, I understand the material, I just have a hard time with the homework and lousy teachers.
223- We’ll figure that out later…we shouldn’t be worrying about that yet.
223-What about me?
I might be able to come to the Oregon kokon…
(double post…)
-166 Exactly how old are you? I’m fairly young too…
223- Well, whether or not the summer kokon happens, I’ll definitely find some way of getting to Portland to meet you.
224 – Well, it’s only a month and a half away. If we’re going to be getting hotels and stuff to stay at we should probably be doing it soon…
225 – You too.
OK, we need to do some serious organization. Like picking a date for the Portland kokon, and figuring out what will happen if IBCF’s grades don’t go up (oh, I hope they will!).
229- Hotel…? Oh, yeah, you guys live farther away from Portland than I do. Duh.
Sorry, this is random, but did I COMPLETELY FORGET about towel day??? I think I did. Oh, well, I don’t think I had a towel that I could have carried around anyway.
maybe next year.
230 – Definitely.
Portland Kokon: The Oregon Kokon is July 14th-18th, right? The second or third day we were there would probably be the best. So the 15th or 16th, maybe?
IBCF Grades: I hope they do too. IBCF, if there’s anything we can do to help, let us know. But if you end up not being able to go…hmm…it feels a little stranger to go all the way across the state to only have a Kokon with Alice for a week, and then MLS for a day.
We should, like…pick up MLS when we go to Oregon, and then let her stay at Alice’s house for the rest of the week.
231 – What do you mean? It’s only an 8 hour drive away.
232 – Yup.
231- Oh, no. See, the plan, whether we go through with it or not, was that Meow’s and IBCF’s parents were taking them to my hometown for a week, and during that time we would go to Portland and meet you. This plan was concocted because we had about five hours to hang out during the March kokon, which was saddening.
232- I forgot too. But I still carried a towel with me…to the pool.
233- We should, we should! *celebrates* That’s a great idea!
Of course, parents would probably object.
233- I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. I’ve got finnicky parents.
I need a kokonvention with non-CTN! CTN, I dont have anything against you, but we were friends BEFORE you went on MuseBlog. I want a kokon over here!
236- Yeah. My mom wouldn’t let me go spend the week with anyone until she knew them and their parents. *sigh*
236 – Yeah, I know.
So, Alice… How about something in Oregon in late november/early december?
240-Ooo Cinnamoon lives in Oregon, too?
240- Definitely! Where?
242- No, she lives in England. But she’s moving to Spokane, and she’ll be able to come to Oregon then.
Well, Portland would work. (Kyra, maybe you can come as well!) Probably. Give me a minute…
Are you anywhere near Dundee?
The GAPAs are detecting excessive geographic specificity.
245- By whom?
243- Ah. Ok. Sorry Cinnamoon, I’m still a ‘phyte.
246- By you, silly!
Let’s see, late November… Like when, late November, because my B-day’s in November.
I think July 15th or 16th would work. What would we do? Powell’s?
247- I ♥ Powell’s. AND I have a gift certificate. So YES!!!
247- Where?
Wait! Bad. I can’t go. I just found out today about a summer camp that my mom applied for me to go to. It’s July 13-26. So boo. And wah.
215- Aww…
I might be doing this program where a bunch of high school kids go travel around Oregon for two weeks, and I’ll be going to Portland before I leave.
251- You mean 250?
When will you be doing that? It seems very interesting.
251- August 7-20 (eep, right before my birthday), but the departure time is early, so we might be able to spend the night in Portland, meaning that we could kokonvene on the 6th, unless, of course, you’re doing it too, which would be amazing but a little too much to hope for, right?
Naw, I’m not doing it. My school district has a tight budget. I would mention some things they have cut, but that might lead to serious geographical specificity.
Umm, I don’t think I’m doing anything in early August, but I really don’t know. I’ll ask my parents when we’re going to California. I know I’m going on labor day, but I think I’m going in earlier August, too.
Say, on your tour of Oregon, are you going to the Shakespeare festival? My mom and I are going to see a play there in late August. My dad’s coming to Ashland, too, but he doesn’t like plays.
254- It’s not a school thing, it’s a community/state thing. But I didn’t think you were doing it. *sigh*
Oh, I ♥ Ashland. I want to live there and bask in the theatricality of it. Really, there aren’t words enough to describe how much I love the Shakespeare festival. Unfortunately, there’s no hope of getting down there again any time soon. My free ticket will sit on the shelf and crumble into dust. *sobs*
What play are you seeing?
Anybody want to do a Kokonvention in Chicago?
We’re going to see Our Town. It’s outside in the Elizabithean theatre. We got Box seats!!!
We’re going to see “Twelfth Night” in Millennium Park. I don’t really want to go.
257- The Elizabethan! I’m so jealous! We got a tour of it, but it was cold and empty, although it did appeal to my ASM side, except that now I can’t remember the organization techniques.
Actually, a theater near me is doing Our Town. I really want to see A Comedy of Errors or Othello. And gosh, but I’d like to see Midsummer again.
258- What are you talking about? Twelfth Night is amazing!
No…. Not again. I can’t come in August, either. It turns out that my parents are leaving for home from California on the 4th of August, but I stay for two weeks until the 17th when we’re seeing the play in Ashland. That’s great, because I only see my Grandparents and cousins once a year, but bad because I have to miss the Kokon. I’ll probably come to the projected November one, though!
More information on my kokonvention status:
The camp I’m going to is very selective, so maybe I won’t get in! I wrote a really bad 100 word paragraph, so that might be enough. Then again, I have a 4.0 GPA, so it’s a bit iffy.
‘K… I asked my Mom, and she said that even if we can’t do it this time, we’ll probably be in Portland quite often anyway, so we’ll get another chance.
I have to go to the camp. Woe is me.
262- Oh, good.
263- So when will you be able to get to Portland?
And what’s the status on IBCF’s grades?
I’ll be able to go to Portland in early June, right after school gets out, July 5-12, July 27-August 3, and August 18 thru Labor day.
Well, the newest update: I don’t even have a chance of coming because my sister just received a scholarship to Rhode Island School of Design. It therefore means that I will be spending the summer at home, while my parents take her to RISD. And I also got a job, though I’m not 16. So, that’s out.
Anyone for bay area kokon?
We’re possibly having a Boston or NYC one…
I have stumbled upon a foolproof plan to disclose my location to fellow MBers without giving myself cause for fear. I will WRITE TO MUSE and include my location and username. Genius, eh? The problem is, I’ll probably procrastinate riting the letta for foreva and then…yeah…Maybe I’ll just stop fighting this uphill battle and give an acceptable estimate of my habitat. Or maybe not. Or maybe I’ll hit submit right about now before I lose every last one of my marbles by considering possible outcomes and possibilities. Generally by ranting, actually…
269- Well, you live Too Far Away, and that’s all I need to know. *sigh* Too Far Away happens to be the location of most MBers, all of them, in fact, except MLS, Cat, and IBCF.
Anybody up for a Chicago one? We could have it at one of the museums (my favorite places).
270-If only there were some way to defy all those annoying you-can’t-go-faster-than-the-speed-of-light rules, I’d be there in a jiffy. *sighs*
271-Too far…*sighs yet again*
What a melancholy post…
here’s a far more melancholy post:
272- I know! What we really need is a teleportation device.

We’re all Musers here, right? And everyone knows Musers are smart. We just need to build a teleportation device!
That would be grand…
how ‘bour a hartford one! we could do the wadsworth antheneum and the Mark twian house? how many mbers are in new england?
Me! We were actually thinking of NYC or Boston…
Ho, hum. Next year, right?
post 267? post 267?
278- I’m sure we can do it sometime this summer, MLS.
that’s good.
279, 267- Bay area as in california, right? I’ll be in california for two weeks in August with my cousins. We’ll have nothing to do except visiting our grandma, so maybe I could come.
281- When will you be free, as in, not on vacation? My available dates:
now-July 20
August 1-7
August 20-September 2
I’ll be free in early July, like the 5th-10th. Also for August 18-Labor Day weekend.
So…
July 5-10
August 20-September 2nd (I won’t be around Labor Day weekend)
OK. If need be, we could get together on a weekend during school.
So in late August. It’s a little late for July now. Uh, I’ll try to get finished with my summer homework (WAAAH) before that time.
ANYONE???? CHICAGO KOKON???
Hey, I have an idea. How about we kokonvene on August 20, when my mom comes into Portland to pick me up from Xploregon. I could probably convince her that we should go out to dinner with this girl I’ve never met. Or maybe I couldn’t. Maybe I’d say, “Hey, Mother, let’s to go that Lebanese restaurant.” And she’d be like, “That’s a great idea,” so we’d go there and I’d be like “Hey! There’s MLS! What a coincidence! GOSH, I wonder how this came about!’
I won’t be here the week of August 9th. Anything after that point on is great. We should kokonvene in Chichago, but I’d need some serious cash-ola to get out of here…
wheeeeeeeeee i want a kokon near my town…
287-
I think my mom’s like that, too. The twentith’s fine for me because we’ll be three days back from Ashland.
I like the scenario, but could we change “Lebanese restaurant” to “The Melting Pot”? I’ve always wanted to go there. My dad would be grumpy, though, because he can’t eat cheese.
for dad.
290- Too late. But now I know where you live, so HA!
Actually, not ha. Because it’s like, five hours away. Meh.
I want a Kokon in Minnesota. MARFwarrior? ANYONE???
We really should have a Kokon in Chicago….
*sniffle*
293 – I want one too. Hey, maybe I can go to Chicago sometime!
291- …… *gets it*
I don’t live in Ashland! I was just visiting there to watch a play because I was on my way back from visiting relatives in Calif.!
Weird.
Or did you find out where I live from another source?
Anyways, yeah, now it’s too late. I will be in Seattle with nothing to do next weekend…
295- Don’t tell me you were in SoCal…
296- My relatives live in Northern/Middle Calif, but we went to Disneyland for two days and visited friends of my Aunt’s and Uncle’s along the way.
295- No, I know you don’t live in Ashland. I saw the donut shop that you boycott. Of course, it’s possible that it’s a chain, but how many chains of donut shops can there be?
298 – I boycott a donut chain. But you can’t stalk me, ’cause it’s nationwide: Dunkin’ Donuts. MARFwarrior boycotts it, too.
298- …
You were HERE??? Why didn’t you tell me???
300- Well, for one thing, I didn’t know that’s where you lived. For another, I had been without a computer for nearly two weeks and had no way of contacting you. It was slightly disappointing, actually, because even if I had seen the shop before we left, there would have been no way of finding you. Did you happen to see a large group of wet, bedraggled-looking teenagers in dirty clothes wandering through the streets sometime around the 18th, 17th, or thereabouts? That was us.
301- No, I was at my house recooperating and doing homework.
299- Hey, the one I’m boycotting REPLACED Dunkin’! What’s wrong with Dunkin’???
Is anyone from upstate New York?
I have never seen a Dunkin’ Donut or Krispy Kreme in Orange County. But that’s just me.
303 – There are no more Krispy Kremes in Minnesota. Naturally, we assume Dunkin’ Donuts has replaced it. (Yes, yes, I know that it’s KK’s own fault, expanding too fast, etc. etc.) Therefore, we boycott DD. We also don’t like the cakiness of their donuts. Donuts should be… airier. Not cakey.
…I’m starting to sound like Feather.
306- The new donut shop in my town that replaced Dunkin’ uses the same recipe. They have the same types of donuts, didn’t remodel the store, and have the same types of drinks, too!
i wonder if anyone still posts on these! anyway nice pictures
Generally not, especially when the thread’s nearly four years old.
“Zinc the sorceress/vampire and Leafygreen, the real person”
Dear koko, Zinc, how many variations of your name did you have?
