So, earlier today, Opal comes rushing in.
“Alice! Alice! I need you to help you rescue a kitten!”
My response to this was: “Why does the kitten need rescuing!”
“It’s stuck in some bushes,” she says, and, seeing as bushes probably don’t hinder many kittens, I decided not to help.
    Well, guess what.
    We have a kitten!

  10. Vixen in the Eyes of the Moon says:

Yeah. Well, the weathers not hot!

I made stinging nettle soup the other day. First, I went to the animal garden, which is a really nice wood with deer and rabbits and a couple of elk right out of the city, and I picked a bunch of stinging nettles. And then I rinsed the, boiled them for ten minutes, immediately rinsed them with cold water, and put them in a soup. It’s a traditional danish dish, but because it’s kinda difficult to prepare (ie, you HAVE to pick the nettles yourself) it’s not very popular. It tasted very good.

  11. Vixen in the Eyes of the Moon says:

Neh. I am cutting out all sugar, all creams, all butters and margarines, and all excesive fats. Bleh. I wouldn’t have to, but this stewing that I’ve been doing lately has left it’s mark, and I’m horrably out of shape.

Plus, I’ve just quit my job, and since I’m starting boarding school and going on vacation, there’s no chance of me getting ajob for the next three weeks. Therefore, I hav eto rely on babysitting. But I only have around sixhundred kroner (around a hundred dollars) in my bank account, and I have to get new riding gloves and that’s around ahundred kroner, and then if my friends and i are going to the ammusement park, that’s twohundred kroner, so then there’s threehundred kroner left. Oh. That’s not very much at all…

I would hate to eat those Musesicles! They’re too nice.

1, 2, 3-Clearly, including “First post?” in your post does not guarantee your post will automatically become the first post. :D I find it amusing that three posts in a row included exactly the same phrase. I think we all need to switch our thinking from “first post is cool” to “Most interesting post is cool.” Because an interesting post would require some thought and effort, wouldn’t be a one-line post, and would add to the blog positively. *Gently fines 1 small piece of virtual chocolate apiece*

10-Stinging nettle soup?!? I guess Zemtee’s Chief of Fire and other hazards would be careful. :D Can I have some soup? ;)

  15. (13) Strangely enough, when I went on my photoshoot at the grocery store, the one taste treat I could NOT find was plain ol’ traditional, sugar-filled popsicles. I considered cloning out the phrase, but to my warped mind at least there is something rather droll about the idea of sugar-free Muses.

Curious, isn’t it, how so many of my MB graphics start out in a grocery store….

15-It is hard to find something that isn’t a weird flavor, fat-free, sugar-free, low-sodium, “light,” smaller than it used to be, expensive, or recalled. And I’m sure that’s just a small part of the list.

I imagine the images begin in the grocery store because that is one place Muser-age people must find things to buy, and lots of them. Even if they fall into the above list, we must have lots of things to eat! Speaking of which, I should soon go forage in the kitchen…

I had one of those oatmeal breakfast bars, the square ones, this morning. I think it is 50% smaller than those in the box we bought last week. At least 50% smaller than they were in the past. 8O

10- I love nettles. They’re good in tea too if you mix them with something astringent, but not just by themselves.

Opal named the kitten Riley, but I can’t bring myself to call him that, so I just call him Gatito. :) He doesn’t want to eat regular food, not even the wet stuff or dry stuff greatly softened. My mom’s gone to get kitten formula, and until then he will nurse off my eyelid (ow).

Alice~ Aww, a kitten! What color is he? *reaches through computer screen to pet the new kitten*

10~ I’ve had nettle soup before, it’s so good. My mom made it at a living history event, and it was the first time during the week that I’d been properly full, yum. (When we go to those I tend to be too busy visiting and looking around to remember to eat.)

So, I was feeding the kitten with the bottle Mom brought home, and he BIT OFF and SWALLOWED the ENTIRE NIPPLE. And then he walked over to his dish full of softened dry food and ate that.
And now he’s climbing up my back. Or was. By the time I finished typing that he’d moved on. Aw.

22- He’s white and tabby. [Here I was forced to pause because he had jumped up and my typing arm and was clawing me in an attempt to stay on.] His legs are and belly are all white, his back is mostly tabby with a few spots of white, and his face is mostly tabby with a white nose. How many signs on the freeway have told me this? haha. I wonder how many tickets will go out today.

    10) Picking nettles does not sound fun, but the soup sounds good. And on your other post, I always want to cut out bad stuff from my diet but it never quite works out that way…so kudos to you for having the willpower!

    23) Awww he sounds so cute! and somewhat vicious for his size whoa

-headdesk- So we have a planned power outage in about twenty minutes. It’s supposed to last till three..I’ll try to type this quick.

More importantly, the LotR screening was awesome. Parking was a hassle, but we did eventually get there! It was being held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences theatre in Beverly Hills. (Let me make it clear that I have never been to Beverly Hills so I was very much :0 at everything. I guess we weren’t in the super ritzy part but the homes we saw were very nice.)
So we gave them out tickets and went inside…they had movie posters in the lobby and it was so cool to see those in public again! They were interviewing the…I think it was the producer of the movie? Yeah they had the producer, art directors, film editors, people like that…no PJ though haha XD

Then we went upstairs. I was looking at the movie poster on the side walls and practically fell over…sadly. We were given a nice kind of flyer on good paper that had a few stills from the movies and the movie title, with more info on the back.

The actual screening itself was AWESOME. Everybody cheered when Aragorn finally decapitated the uruk-hai at the end…The sound was really good too, and despite having my view somewhat blocked at times it was an amazing experience. There was a panel at the end and they talked about various things, but I was practically falling asleep because by that time it was getting on towards 11 and I had been sitting there for three glorious hours already.

And I lived happily ever after, to the end of my days 8D It was really cool, sorry for going on for so long.

Maybe try telling your dad that you want to spend time with him, but you can’t stand biking, and find something that you can both enjoy.

    101-Extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving
    by Marina Margaret Heiss
“Clever” is the word that perhaps describes ENTPs best. The professor who juggles half a dozen ideas for research papers and grant proposals in his mind while giving a highly entertaining lecture on an abstruse subject is a classic example of the type. So is the stand-up comedian whose lampoons are not only funny, but incisively accurate.
ENTPs are usually verbally as well as cerebrally quick, and generally love to argue–both for its own sake, and to show off their often-impressive skills. They tend to have a perverse sense of humor as well, and enjoy playing devil’s advocate. They sometimes confuse, even inadvertently hurt, those who don’t understand or accept the concept of argument as a sport.
ENTPs are as innovative and ingenious at problem-solving as they are at verbal gymnastics; on occasion, however, they manage to outsmart themselves. This can take the form of getting found out at “sharp practice”–ENTPs have been known to cut corners without regard to the rules if it’s expedient — or simply in the collapse of an over-ambitious juggling act. Both at work and at home, ENTPs are very fond of “toys”–physical or intellectual, the more sophisticated the better. They tend to tire of these quickly, however, and move on to new ones.
ENTPs are basically optimists, but in spite of this (perhaps because of it?), they tend to become extremely petulant about small setbacks and inconveniences. (Major setbacks they tend to regard as challenges, and tackle with determin- ation.) ENTPs have little patience with those they consider wrongheaded or unintelligent, and show little restraint in demonstrating this. However, they do tend to be extremely genial, if not charming, when not being harassed by life in general.
In terms of their relationships with others, ENTPs are capable of bonding very closely and, initially, suddenly, with their loved ones. Some appear to be deceptively offhand with their nearest and dearest; others are so demonstrative that they succeed in shocking co-workers who’ve only seen their professional side. ENTPs are also good at acquiring friends who are as clever and entertaining as they are. Aside from those two areas, ENTPs tend to be oblivious of the rest of humanity, except as an audience — good, bad, or potential.
    Some Famous ENTPs:
    Alexander the Great_Confederate General J. E. B. Stuart_Sir Walter Raleigh
    Fictional:
Mercutio, from Romeo and Juliet_Horace Rumpole, from John Mortimer’s Rumpole of the Bailey series_Dorothy L. Sayers’s detective Lord Peter Wimsey

A Functional Analysis — by Joe Butt
    Extraverted iNtuition
ENTPs are nothing if not unique. Brave new associations flow freely from the unconscious into the world of the living. Making, discovering and developing connections between and among two or more of anything is virtually automatic. The product of intuition is merely an icon of process; ENTPs are in the business of change, improvement, experimentation.
The attraction Extraverted iNtuition has toward the real and physical amounts to a cosmic non sequitur: theory is drawn to practice. Such encounters are clearly puzzling. Both parties–the intuitor and the realist–are aware of a xenic quality in their meeting, with reactions ranging from recoil to reverie.
    Introverted Thinking
Thinking is iNtuition’s ready assistant, an embodiment of the sort of logic found in laws, boards and circuits. Thinking’s job is to lend focus and direction to iNtuition’s critical mass. The temporary habitations of changeling iNtuition are constructed of Boolean materials from Thinking’s storehouse. Ultimately, Thinking is no match for iNtuition’s prodigiousness. Systems lie in various states of disarray, fragmentary traces of Thinking’s feverish attempts to shadow and undergird the leaps of the dominant function. One can only suppose that Thinking must continue to work during REM sleep pulling together iNtuition’s brainchildren into integral wholes.
    Extraverted Feeling
To the extent that Feeling is developed, ENTPs extravert Feeling judgment. As a result, it is not uncommon to find affability and bonhomie in members of this species. Tertiary functions are potentially utilitarian. Their limitations appear in their relative underdevelopment, diminished endurance, and vulnerability. ENTPs may harness Feeling’s good will in areas such as sales, service, drama, humor and art. ENTP loyalty often runs high and can be hooked by those the ENTP counts as friends.
    Introverted Sensing
Like a tail on the kite of iNtuition, Introverted Sensing counterweighs these beings drawn to nonconformity and anarchy. These shadowy sensory forms, so familiar to SJ types, serve as lodestones which many ENTPs employ Herculean measures to escape. “Question authority! (then do exactly what it tells you)” sums up the dilemma in which ENTPs may find themselves by attempting to best the tarbaby Sensing. Occasionally acknowledging awareness of norms and abnormality could, in theory, be potentially freeing.
Additionally, I’ve noticed that ENTPs have the need to have areas of expertise/excellence/uniqueness in which one is second to none. I’ve never beaten an ENTP at his/her own game–not in the final analysis. (e.g., just tonight, my neighbor who is recuperating from an illness received a call from an ENTP friend offering his special recipe for tea. The instructions required only the finest ingredients, a particular brand of orange juice, tea made with a ball–none of those horrid teabags–…, which will of course make the best tea of which he himself drinks 50 gallons each winter!)
    A Few More Famous ENTPs
    U.S. Presidents:
    John Adams, 2nd US president.
[Adams appears to have been competing with
Thomas Jefferson to see who would live the
    longest. (“Jefferson surv…”)]

with one hand and Greek with the other, simultaneously)

I had a horrible time because it was pouring rain and there were an extra 2 miles between my house and the music center that weren’t there in my head.
I called my mom and got her to take me home, but I scratched the bumper of her new car with my bike. This is very bad because she’s had her other car for years and years without getting a scratch, and then she has a new one for a month and the bumper looks like it’s been attacked by a cat.

For my summer reading I have to read Life of Pi, Brave New World, and this really interesting book called How to Read like an English Literature Professor. It’s actually pretty good, it’s giving me ideas for my writing.
As for books I actually wanted to read, I just read Uglies. It was kind of boring at the beginning (it’s kind of simply-written) but it picked up in the end, and now I want the second book because I want to know what happens!
And as for choice catch phrases–has anyone ever heard of saying “totes” instead of totally? My British friend just started using it and said it’s actually an American term, like East Coast (wouldn’t know, I’m southern CA). We were in New York City and he was going around saying how everything was “totes redic” (totally ridiculous). Sounds really wierd to me…

OK. It seems that a lot of people here aren’t patriotic! That annoys me so MUCH! I mean, at my school, we have to recite the Pledge of Alliegance every day and it irks me so much that maybe only 2 of 3 people actually stand in my classroom, much less say it. And then, some of those people are making fun of it! They don’t think about how good they’ve got it, compared to other countries! They don’t think about how there are soldiers from our country right now dying for them! They don’t even care! It drives me crazy when people tell me that they don’t like their country, when millions of other people from all over the world would die to live here! In fact, I know a lot of people from other countries in my hometown that are trying their hardest to be able to stay in America, but can’t! I know that our government has a lot of flaws, but no government is perfect! When I look around myself, it appears that, all in all, we have it pretty good. I love my land, and I am proud of it.

201- Oh, I know. Our country is a whole lot freer than a lot of other countries, and until the economy crashed, we were a lot richer too (actually we probably still are….hmm). My problem isn’t with America, it’s with the whole idea of being told what to do, by people I don’t know. Or by the whole majority thing. If the majority says they want to do something – to elect a president, to pass a law – then everyone else just has to suffer along with it.
Like I said, government irks me.
I have two problems with America:
    1) The number of natives that we displaced to live here. By the time we got here, they were practically all dead from diseases that we accidentally gave them, and then we had to go kill most of the rest of them so that we could spread further and grab more land.
    2) Our views on secession. America started with secession, and less than a hundred years later, when a few states attempted to secede themselves, we fought them. Which makes sense, really. After all, England fought America when they broke off, and the only real difference is that this time the one that what was trying to leave lost, but honestly, you’d think we’d have some sympathy (although I can’t agree with the slave trade, it’s not as though the Union wasn’t keeping slaves, or at least being horrible to their ex-slaves).

204 – When we were studying the Civil War in history class this year we did it a lot from the Confederate perspective, because that’s the side we were representing in our reenactment. It’s too easy to think of those people as “The Confederates”, who were only fighting to be an irritation to the Union.

In reality, they were people with faces and names who were fighting for their independance, and for what they thought their rights should be. In their minds, it was just a second Revolutionary War. I don’t think that slavery is right, but too often it’s just taught that they seceded because they didn’t like what the United States was doing. Which was true, but that’s the same reason the US declared indepenace from Britan. The United states tends to support other countries declaring their independance (Kosovo, for example) but it’s clearly quite different when it’s happening to your own country.

205 – It bothers me what a bad perspective people at my school have on immigrants, Mexican immigrants in particular. We have exactly one Cuban immigrant, one African American, and a few people that could be considered Asian at my school. Out of 230 kids. Not because our school is racist or anything, but just because there aren’t a lot of Mexicans or African Americans in the area.

But, because of that, kids have a really bad opinion of most immigrants. It hurts me when they talk about illegal Mexican immigrants as being “evil” – or even legal Mexican immigrants. They don’t distinguish very well. See, I basically grew up in Mexican culture from Kindergarten to 4th grade. Most of the kids in my class were first or second generation immigrants. Most of them still have family in Mexico that wanted to come to the U.S. And yet, a lot of people in the United States don’t seem to get they they are people too. =/

207 – I know! Here in MN, there aren’t exactly a ton of Asians. Or African-Americans. I’m a first-generation US citizen. And, yes, there is some racism! It bugs me to no end. Immigrants are not evil. I have family still in the Philippines, and they’re content. My uncle recently moved from Rhode Island to the Philippines. They’re still people. In the debate unit, some people were calling for tighter borders, even to wall off the US from the rest of the world. I think that is so stupid. Even on Monday, my parents are having an interview so that they can be permanent residents of the US.

It’s not their fault they’re not US citizens. They were just unlucky enough not to be born here.

The Philippines is a third-world country, and we’re doing fine here. Both of my parents have well-paying jobs, have a lot of friends, and have basically made a home in the US.

    Gah…

It’s like I’m suffering from Post-eCyberMission Withdrawl or something. Ever since we left the CS group last Wednesday (10 days ago) I haven’t wanted to do anything but shut myself up in my room. Like that’s worked. My parents still managed to drag me around D.C. for another week, and now they’re already planning where to drag me each day for the whole freakin’ summer.

I miss it all so much. Especially C. But I even miss A and T, despite the fact that they teased me all week, and, to a lesser degree, CD, CJ, and K. And I miss AD and SI and M too, even though I barely got to know them before we had to leave.

And I haven’t been able to do anything useful with myself, besides get dragged around to who-knows-where. Except for, as I said, shut myself up in my room, cry, and put together photo albums and videos of the trip. I haven’t even felt like eating. I’m just indifferent about everything, and that scares me.

I need to get over it all. It’s over, it’s done with, so I’m stuck with my family for the rest of the summer. Not much is going to change that. Lucky me, huh?

What I miss most is the independance. While we still had schedules and rules and high security and stuff, we could still decide to go swimming on a whim, or go walk by the White House and the Washington Monument at midnight. Now there’s no such thing as independance. My mother insists on planning everything out three months beforehand, and then gets mad at me for being upset that I’m getting dragged places I could care less about. My dad just calls me “Sulky”, and my brother annoys the heck out of me. And the only place I can go is my room, and the only things I can do are use the computer or read. Or look through the photo album I made of the trip for the 50th time. Or watch the video I made of the trip for the 94th time. Or cry.

Yeah. Like that’s going to help.

I wish school had never ended. No, scratch that, I wish the eCyberMission trip had never ended.

    I miss…well, everything. Just everything.

    -sigh- I’ll shut up now…

Cat’s Meow’s “Summary” of her Trip to Washington D.C.

Day 1: Well, first of all, we had to wake up at 5am on a Friday morning. Ickk. My family carpooled to the airport with C (another boy from my school who was going on the trip) and his mom. We got to the airport, and met up with CD, CJ, and K, who were the other boys from C’s team in the math and science competition that we were going to D.C. for. Actually, I think I forgot to mention that, but suffice to say that they were the 8th grade winners for the Northwest Region, and my team was the winning team for 7th grade. And it was seriously cool that we had two teams from one school. Anyways.

One of the Language Arts teacher from our school (our team’s team advisor for this competition) was there too (I’ll call her S), and A and T (my team members) showed up a little while later. So then we got on our plane. And then the plane sat there for an hour because of “technical difficulties”. And we happened to have a 40 minute connection to get onto our second plane at the Seattle Airport. So, after the hour-long flight, we found out that we were going to be stuck there for a while until the next plane that was headed to D.C. showed up. Definition of “a while”: 5 hours.

So we hung out in the airport’s food court area, and played cards and took random pictures and talked for 5 hours. Hurrah. (Actually, it was sort of fun. This was, oddly enough, one of my favorite days of the trip, because we were just hanging out.) And then our plane finally showed up (not before I managed to render my brand new cell phone unusable, though) and we got on the plane. And then we were on that plane for another 5 hours. On the first plane we had been in two rows, like this:
    C CD CJ| |K x x (x = random person)
    T S .A.| |M x x (M = Meow)
With the boys behind the girls. And that thing in the middle is an aisle. But on the second plane, our seating was a little odder.
    Row 11:
    T S A| |M K C
Row 29 (Last row on the plane):
    x CD CJ| |x x x

So, yeah. I was with K and C, and trying my best to ignore A and T, who were making American Girl Doll videos for the whole plane ride. I amused myself by reading, talking to C and K a little (mostly C; K slept for some of it), and doing Word Search puzzles with C. Speaking of which, it was C’s first time on a plane, so it was really funny to watch him. He, almost literally, had his nose pressed to the window the whole time.

We headed down to the baggage claim to get our stuff (although we weren’t even sure if it had made it onto our new plane in Seattle) and met E, a guy from the eCyberMission competition, and C’s dad. We hadn’t expected C’s dad to be there, and he revealed that he had walked 2 hours from the hotel just to meet us! :o We got our bags and went out to meet the shuttle bus that was going to take us to the hotel. It was just us eight and E on the whole shuttle, so we each got our own seat. C took the whole back row, and just laid down. We could see the Washington Monument and stuff from there, and it was really cool.

When we got to our hotel and got out, a photographer showed up and started taking pictures of us! We were all tired and pretty frazzled, but it was still so cool! Believe me, we got quite used to photographers by the end of the week.

Anyways, it was about 11 o’clock at night (D.C. time; it was only about 8 o’clock our time) by this point, and we hadn’t eaten for at least 6 hours. They took us up to the eCyberMission Event Office, gave us sweet purple and black half-backpacks (one strap that goes over your shoulder, and I can’t really describe it much more then that) and room keys and schedules and stuff.

Then they told us that we could have room service, so the boys went to their rooms and the girls (and S) went to S’s room to order pizza. And then I went to my room to meet my roommate for the night (which was a different from my roommate for the rest of the week). Her name was M.

I went back to S’s room, and we ate pizza, and then went to the ice room to get some ice for our drinks. While we were there we happened to notice a room service cart in front of two of the rooms down the hall a little ways. We assumed that those were the boys’ rooms (CD was sharing with C and K was sharing with CJ) and walked over there to see what they had been eating. We started cracking up when we saw the chicken wings, for no real reason, and C and CD appeared at the door to their room in pajamas and with toothbrushes in their mouths.

We started cracking up even more, and running down the hall to get away from them. The funniest thing was that they started chasing us down the hall, in their pajamas. But then E and MI, another of the eCyberMission organizers, stuck their heads out of their respective hotel rooms and asked us if we could pretty please shut up because it was 11 o’clock at night and people were trying to sleep. So we started cracking up again, but quieter, and the boys went back to their rooms, and we went back to our rooms (A and T were staying together) and I finally got M to turn the TV off, and we all went to sleep.

    THE END
    (Of Day 1)

Gee, I wasn’t kidding when I said this would be a short novel. You have my utmost congratulations if you stayed awake through my explanation of Day 1. But don’t worry: I won’t have nearly that much detail for Day 2. I hope. (Actually I remember quite a lot about all of the days. But the first 6 days are going to be the longest.)

This is getting quite long, (And this is the EDITED version!)and I already feel sorry for the GAPA that has to read it. So I’m going to send it already and start Day 2 in another post.

330 – Well, I can only speak for myself, but my school just happened to be really lucky that we had 2 teams win eCyberMission and get to go to Nationals. We’re a project based school, so it kinda makes sense, I guess. That doesn’t really answer your question, does it?

I have no idea where I want to go or what I want to do after graduation. I wish Miskatonic University were real so I could just go there! I’m eating lima beans right now. Eww. I like lima beans but these got stuck in the freezer that doesn’t freeze things, so they got all dried out and taste a bit worse than cardboard. The soysauce doesn’t help as much as I though it would, either. (Yes, witness my nonexistent cooking skills….)

Hey, I’ll be leaving to go to a lake cabin tomorrow, probably in the morning. I’m bringing the computer, but only to watch movies on, I seriously doubt that there’ll be any internet where I’m going (in the middle of nowhere in Garret County, MD.) so I’ll not be on the blog for a week unless I find a library.

Oh, I was so busy being confused and feeling left out that I totally forgot to post about my NEW BIKE!!!
Actually it’s an old bike, from the ’50s or ’60s, and it’s been laying around in our basement for ages, but I got it fixed today. It was my grandma’s. It’s blue, with a thin frame, skinny wheels, silver fenders, and a great deal of dust and rust. It only has three speeds which are very hard to shift in and out of, and the brakes squeal and are slow to react, but I love it. ♥
It really isn’t a very smooth bike, sort of squeaky and wobbly, but it’s really gorgeous.

And I have a shiny helmet. I wanted to get a blue one, but they all had flowers, so I got a silver one. :)

So we have the old bikes similarity, but the bikes are different….yours sounds nice though…..fenders are good, they let you ride in the rain and not get a muddy stripe down your back.

    Unrelated incident:
My mother and I have the same general taste in shoes and have two pairs of shoes that are exactly the same, except for sizes. Just a few moments ago Mom came in the house and tripped over a pair of plaid Rocket Dog shoes. She then tells me off, saying that right by the door is a bad place to put shoes, etc. Sitting innocently by the computer, (wearing my plaid Rocket Dog shoes, I might add) I heartily agreed with her, and raised my foot so she could admire my shoes. A groan issued from deep inside her and we both cracked up.

Gooooooooooooooooooooooood morning everyone! Such a loverly loverly day!
Alas, this beautiful day is dampened by myself being infected with *shudder* poison ivy. Sadly, I was weeding 2 days ago and didn’t wear gloves. (well hey, I don’t like gloves, they’re so annoying!) Well, anyway, I woke up yesterday and felt a small, itchy spot near my nose. I had a bad feeling, but I told myself it was nothing. (you see, sometimes, it works. I have poison ivy, but I tell myself that I don’t have it, so I don’t scratch it, and, therefore, I don’t itch, leaving it to fade away.) Unfortunately, my sister had to get all bossy and say,
“Hey, you have poison ivy on your nose!”
“Do not!” I say “It doesn’t itch!”
“Yeah right!” she retorts. “You’re just in denile!”
    “Am not!” I say desperately.
(oh no! She’s ruining my plan!)
But it was too late, I couldn’t convince myself otherwise anymore. Just thinking about the possibility of it being poison ivy made my nose prickle.
Anyway, by the end of the day, practically my whole face was red and blotchy. *sigh* *resists urge to poke my nose*
    No! No! Will not poke!
(wait, wait, it’s just a poke, it won’t spread it that bad)
No! No! Must RESIST! Go away bad conscious! You’re doing this deliberately!

Yesterday I went riding around for hours and hours. It was a beautiful sunny day, and I was wearing a sleeveless shirt.
When I got home, I noticed my shoulders were a little pink. Oh well, it was only a small sunburn and it didn’t hurt even when the kitten clawed me.
Then I went over to Eva’s, taking pains to avoid exposing my arms further.
And by the time we settled down to watch a movie they hurt a lot. And guys, coconut oil doesn’t help, although it does smell lovely and probably made my skin very soft.
So then I got cold and put a sweater on, exposing my sunburned arms to wool, which didn’t help. And it’s a little better today, but it was very painful.

475 – I, personally, am fine. It wasn’t anywhere near my house. One of my brother’s soccer teammates had his house right in the path of the fire. I just got up; so I don’t know what the status on their house is yet. But at least 13 houses in the area have been confirmed burned.

I don’t know a lot of people who live in the evacuation area, because most of my friends from school are outside it. But C’s family is just outside it, and was potentially in the next set of evacuations. My mom called them at about 9pm last night to tell tham that if they got evacuated they were welcome to come to our house, no matter the time. That didn’t happen, but it would have been chaotic: They have 5 kids, and at least 2 more kids were spending the night.

C’s mom said he was pretty freaked about the fire when he got home from soccer practice. Who wouldn’t be? After all, you could see huge amounts of smoke from the soccer complex we were practicing at. We could even see a plane dropping water on the fire – and, honestly, it didn’t seem to help that much.

Oh, wow. I just looked at the evacuation map online and it looks like it might have been expanded more overnight.

Besides, the 55 mile per hour wind didn’t exactly make our soccer game great. xP

496 (again) – ‘Cuz that’s what the game is.

And, because I know someone is going to ask, here are The Rules for The Game:
    1. Congratulations! You are now playing the game, if you weren’t already.
    2. You are always playing the game.
    3. You cannot win. You can only lose.
    4. Whenever you remember the game, you have to announce out loud “I lose”.
    5. After you lose, you have 30 minutes during which you can remember the game without losing.
    6. As soon as you mention the game to anyone, they begin playing as well.
    7. The goal of the game is to have everyone on Earth playing.

  501. Cat's Meow says:

502 – My area would be overjoyed to take your rain from you. Seriously.

The fire is currently about 10% contained, but there’s still a large area that’s burning. No more houses have been confirmed to be burnt besides the 13 that I mentioned earlier, but there are at least 10 that have suffered “significant heat damage”.

  503. Cat's Meow says:

504 – We’ll take your rain too. But you can keep the lightning.

    I lose.

I’m trying to further write in my diary about the D.C. trip, but I keep getting utterly distracted. :(
