A neophyte is a fancy word for a newcomer. If you’ve just arrived on the blog, MuseBloggers on this thread will welcome you with pies (momentarily) in hand and help you find your way around.
Please read The Rules. You might also glance at The HG2MB (Hitchhiker’s Guide to MuseBlog), which contains helpful hints regarding local customs, lingo, and other peculiarities of the blog; smiley information included.
Greetings neophytes!! I am Syllabub, lover of music, books, and happy things!
Welcome to the blog!!
((First post!!))
Hello neophytes! Welcome to MB!
Hello, my little phyties! I am MissSwann, blogger of… (does math) 1 year, 5 months, and approx. 40 days. If you are new, I have excellent advice on good books, romance and relationships, and fanfictions. Welcome!!!
Hello neophytes! I am Armada, a blogger of around two months, bookophile, homeschooler, and capoeirista, and my name does not mean what you think it means. Really.
And, for the non-neophytes here, at the risk of sounding bossy, I am going to make a request. Let’s try to stay on topic here this month, please. Introducing yourself is on topic. Going off on a discussion about whether or not Warriors is the greatest series in the universe is not. We have threads for that kind of thing. I know very well– I mean, I was a neophyte only a month ago– that for neophytes it’s very nice to have a thread where they can talk to friendly people about whatever they want to, but in reality, that is not what this thread is for.
The random thread is for discussing whatever you want to. This thread, as Robert pointed out, is for welcoming neophytes. And anyone who’s nice here will be nice on other threads too. For their own good, let the neophytes go experience other parts of the blog.
Darn, now I’ve just presented myself to the neophytes as a bossy, obsessed-with-the-rules type person. I’m not like that, ‘phytes! Really!
Hiya phyte-people… do we actually have any phytes here yet?? Don’t think so… Oh well.
Welcome to the blog! I’m an MBer of about two, maybe three months… actually, I think I was a phyte at the same time as Armada. Small blog…
I’m good at shoehorning factoids into a conversation which (usually) relate to the topic at hand- I’m kinda like Bo. You probably won’t see a great number of my posts anywhere because I only get on the computer about every other day (thank you, high school homework load). Once again, welcome!
im a neopyte… or thats what everyone says.
6 – If you’re new to MuseBlog, you’re a neophyte.
-pies-
Hi Ghostbuster, I’d like to welcome you to MuseBlog!
*Rhumbline Pie*
Several people have been asking if you’re a neophyte because it seems that you’re a bit lost. A neophyte is a fancy word for a newcomer. Have you read the rules and HG2MB? They’re found at the top of the page, and can be really helpful for getting to know the blog. We’re not a chat room, and every post is moderated by a GAPA (Great And Powerful Administrator), so it might not be as speedy when compared to IM, but it works well once you get used to it. You can come back here anytime you have questions, and someone will answer you if you give it time. Specific threads have specific purposes though, so if you want to post something not relating to the topic of the thread that you’re on, try the monthly random thread. And finally, good spelling and grammar are awesome. You’ll get points for that.
I’m just rambling now…someone else should take over.
Welcome, yet again. Remember; don’t double post, and please, for the love of God, this is not a chat room. Keep your posts intelligent; no ch4tsp34k.
r1t.
9, 10, isn’t that leet speak, not chatspeak? I always thought of chat speak as, well, truncating everything, but not substituting numbers for letters (for words yes 4=for, but not letters).
Anyways, welcome, ‘phytes! May your days be filled with pies, and hot-pink bunnies! Now, down to business–although much of this is probably in the rules, just a couple of friendly pointers on MuseBlog etiquette:
~PoPos (pointless posts) are frowned upon–for instance, a post merely stating “first post?” is considered a PoPo, and i do believe the GAPAs have started just zapping those.
~Off-topic posts are frowned upon. i.e., if you are on the neophyte page, keep to neophytic subjects, for instance, appearing, getting pied, and introducing yourself/accepting pies and welcomes from MuseBloggers, etc. You get the drift, I’m sure.
On some threads, for instance the monthly random thread, there really are no off-topic posts–anything and everything goes (as long as it is not entirely pointless…..)
~chatspeak–don’t just don’t, please. It drives me nuts, I don’t understand it, and don’t like deciphering it…and I wish to kill my mobile phone network, which keeps sending me advertising texts written in chatspeak. *shudder*
Now, to answer some FAQs:
~smileys: These are discussed, I believe, on the HG2MB, to which there is a link above.
~italics, bold, strike through, and other HTML tricks: I think these are discussed there as well, but I am not certain, so here is a quick runthrough. For starters, in my insturctions, I will be using parentheses, but when you type the HTML, you need to substitute angle brackets (aka less than/greater than signs)
italic: (i) stuff you want italic (/i)
(b) stuff you want bold (/b)
(strike)stuff you want to be crossed out (/strike)
There is a thread to practice these, and other HTML tricks, which you can access here: https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1427#comment-246274
~points: https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1483
~”when do I stop being a phyte?” I think this was answered quite well on the previous version of this thread, posts 238-240 (or thereabouts): https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1475
Now that all the distasteful boring rules/FAQs have been dispensed with, on to something more interesting…me!
As you might have inferred from my name, I am a huge Harry Potter fan. Actually, one of our fellow MBers, POSOC once said I was the “most rabid Potter fan we [MuseBlog] had”. Thanks once again, POSOC! I have been blogging here on and off (mostly off) since March 2006. I am one of the most senior MuseBloggers in terms of age (one of three, I think, who are in college), although there are certainly others who have been blogging longer…..I am an aspiring veterinarian, college freshman, and rescuer of greasy eagles. Umm, actually, that about sums me up, I’m rather boring, actually.
Well, dearest ‘phytes, I think I shall head off to bed now, but do me a favor, and visit this one last thread–I highly recommend it! https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1492
11- *grumble* I still think that I could face you on a Harry Potter showdown… I’m just going through a Twilight phase right now.
10- ttly. lol.
11-I don’t think you’re boring.
Welcome Ghostbuster! I am Syllabub. *pies with pumpkin pies and whipped cream* Jeez…I really want a pumpkin pie right now…..
Sorry, that was off topic.
Back to you Ghostbuster. I like your name!! It’s very cool. Tell us some more about yourself!!
Bring it on, MissSwann, bring it on. ‘Twould be lots and lots of fun, regardless of the outcome.
Isn’t it ttyl, not ttly? (talk to you later) Not that I know chatspeak, or anything (cuz I don’t–that’s like one of the only things I know)…..
NOOOOOOOOO! the linky didn’t work…..
Let’s try this again: Bring it on, MissSwann, bring it on.
And beloved ‘phytes? Please let 12, 13, and 14 serve as an example of off-topic posts…..In other words, do as we say, not as we do!
Addendum to my post 15: Syllabub’s post wasn’t up yet, so it should read “Please let 12, 14, and 15…..”
Aw, thank you, Syllabub! Hey, pumpkin pie does sound really, really good….
So, Ghostbuster, come in, have a seat, and tell us about yourself…..
Hello, I am a neophyte! I’ve been looking around the blog, and think that it’s pretty awesome. So I deicided to post.
17 – *SPLAT with lemony tang!*
Oooo, a ‘phyte!!!! Yay! Now we actually have a current use for this post!
Welcome to the blog, ZestyLemon. I like your name! *pies ZestyLemon with lemon meringue pie* So, tell us a little about yourself…..Oh, and if you haven’t done so, I would suggest you read the prior posts on the thread. You don’t have to, by any means, but they might help you get a feel for the blog. Of course they might just serve to confuse you, too, but hopefully not…..
Enjoy your pies!
Hi Kokonilly and Luna the Lovely! And everyone else! Something about myself…well, I live in New York, (the state, not the city though.) I’m an only child, which gets kinda lonely and boring at times, but my friends tell me I should be glad I don’t have a sibling. Ummm…..I’m 11, almost 12. (In November) I like sour stuff, which is why my “name” is ZestyLemon! Thanks for all the pies!
*pies*
uhh hi, im a neopyte wow this is cool uhh im YodaSmoda so i think you got that i like star wars i also like reading i think my record is 11 books in one week witch is like 1.4 a day or somthing and they were all 300 pages or more (it was a long week) i also love HP and indianna jones and history. i don’t like spelling or grammer or anything else that holds me back from being in honors english i also don’t like pickles i do like PB&J and i do like writeing poetry lots of it.
soo that’s me I’m YodaShmoda and i’m a jedi dudet.
Oh, yay! An actual neophyte already! Hi, ZestyLemon! *pies* If you read Muse (which of course you do, otherwise you wouldn’t be here), you’ll probably guess what all the pieing is about. I’d introduce myself, except I already have…..
I also like sour things. (Yummy!) And about being an only child, siblings are definitely annoying. Don’t worry about being lonely. After a while on MB, you’ll have all the friends you could ever want, at pretty much all the times you want them. (See how great my faith is *coughcoughhowobsessedIamcough* with MB?)
Oh yeah, hi YodaShmoda too. Welcome! *pies*
Just as a hint, please use capitalization and punctuation. It’s not that big a deal, but people do tend to get annoyed if you do it for to long. And it’s kind of hard to read.
I also like reading. A lot.
PB&J, huh? I think you’re going to fit right in here…… *grins at other MBers*
21- Welcome, Yoda Smoda! We have a lot of Star Wars fans on MB, including myself. So tell me, Prequels or Original Trilogy?
Hi YodaShmoda! I’m a neophyte too. I also like HP! I haven’t read? or watched any Star Wars though.
Hey, YodaShmoda, ZestyLemon and Ghostbuster! I love Star Wars and Ghostbusters and lemons. I have been blogging for about a year now, and this is a great place where you don’t really even have to discuss Muse! Though that is the main purpose.
If you have a lot of things to say, please don’t:
Hi guys!
Hello?
I like potatoes!
Try to fit it all into one post. Double posts are ok just don’t make a habit of it. If you are wondering what HTML is, firstly it stands for Hypertext Mark-Up Language, and I don’t know much about how it works, but if you insert different commands between angle brackets (greater than/less than signs) such as ‘strong’ makes your text bold, and so on. At the bottom of the comment box there is a list of commands. Those are HTML commands.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Html#HTML_Tutorial
That is a [delinkified] link to Wikipedia, linked directly to a page about HTML, if you need any more info.
In case you are wondering what http means, its Hypertext Tranfer Protocol. HAVEEEE FUUUN!
WELCOME NEWCOMERS! HAVE LOTS OF FUN!
Hi Yoda Smoda!! Welcome to MB from Syllabub and MissSwann.
MIssSwann: Hello! It may interest you to know that, as I am not familiar with Syllabub’s keybord, I wrote MissSwabb the first time I typed my name. It had us in spasms of hysterics for a very long time. And remember; Death is sexy. Verrrry sexy.
20- NY ehh? Know what I’m thinking? Kokovention!
So this is off topic, but the tristate area has plenty of people for a kokovention.
Anyway, YodaShmoda, I like to think of spelling and grammar as things that help to construct a logical data distribution framework, for without order your ideas will be lost. But they’re definitely not great at all times. Look at Finnegan’s Wake. A book so amazing that it can be painful to read, but words are really made up.
28- We talked about one over the summer at NYC’s Museum of Natural History, but it never materialized.
27-Erm……What was that about? The Death comment? Is this a Twilight thing, or Terry Pratchett, or La Mort, or what? Or is it an inside joke?
(30) Armada: MissSwann (in comment 27) is alluding to The Book Thief, in which Death is a major character. Some MBers are quite taken with him.
Now, please return to the stated purpose of this thread, welcoming newcomers — which, by the way, is not the same as intimidating them with mile-long lists of things they shouldn’t do.
Ooh, yay, phytes! *pies with welcome pie*
)
My name’s Agrrrfishi, you can call me Aggie. October 10th marks my three (or is it four) year blogiversary! We’re so happy you’re here? Did either or any of you arrive via bookmark? (If not, go check the Kokonspiracy and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Mostly harmless!
So, basically, play safe, have fun, and keep it clean. And remember-pies here are like candy and hugs, very good, but not to be used violently! Talk to me if you need anything!
31-Oh. Well, I quite agree. Death= ♥ .
You have a point there…… So, people, shall we not scare the ‘phytes? *looks at own post* Um…. yeah. The Books and Reading thread, maybe, MissSwann?
31- Of course! What is there not to love about Death? *swoons*… I had to re-write that sentence about 3 times for it to make any sense at all.
Hey ‘phyties! Welcome! I suppose I won’t intimidate you, so here is a nice, friendly pie. *splat* It’s pumkin spice, because I just read a wonderful recipe online, for pumpkin spice cream cheese. Mmm.
21 – I love Star Wars! And Indiana Jones!
*SPLAT with a touch of the Force*
Haha, today we read Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe in English, and Death was personified as a creepy masked dude and all that was going through my mind was Hey! Death isn’t creepy! Death is sexy!.
Thank you, Missswann, for brightening these dark days for me.
(I broke my wrist on Wednesday.
)
Hey I like The BookTheif too! I thought it was amazing! I like both prequals and originals for the star wars movies. I haven’t gotten to see the wierd animated one yet but i plan on it. And if you haven’t noticed I started useing puncuation and capitalization so that you can tell what I’m writeing. Also could someone please explain the seeminly random numbers in everyone’s post. And just for the heack of it (THROWS PIES AT ALL YA’LL FACES!)
36 – The ‘random’ numbers are referring to posts. See, right now I’m responding to post 36 – your post. I LOVE Star Wars! I like both prequels and originals as well. Animated ones: haven’t seen yet.
Maybe I should read the book theif.
(off topic) Of course, Death would say it like this: DEATH IS SEXY.
I want to read the Book Thief. I should!
Hello, ‘phytes! I’m Kokonilly. I’m 12, in 9th grade, broke my wrist this Wednesday, and I am a girl. I’ve been here for over two years and I’m a fan of the Beatles and Star Wars. You’ll love it here.
40- I thought you were a boy at first.
37- thanks for the number tips
40- Which wrist did you break, left or right? When I was twelve, I broke my left wrist!
I love Star Wars, don’t you?
Oops, PoPo. *headdesk*
42- Talk like this, do you? Or a Jedi do you wish to be?
41 – So did a bunch of other people. ‘Sokay.
42 – No prob.
43 – Left, thank goodness.
What are birthdays? Are they like the first time you came on the blog, or something?
44- Breaking limbs is no fun at all. I hope it gets better fast!
If any neophytes need help choosing threads, the random thread and the morphing chameleon threads are good to start on. If you’re more ambitious and love to write, an RRR (Round Robin ‘Riting) is the place to be, but make sure you read some of the previous posts before diving in! If you enjoy socializing, check out The Hare and Hedgepig, which is kind of like a loungy chat-cafe de MuseBlog. It’s a great place for intelligent discussion. Plus, there are lots more threads that are new every month, so be sure to watch for them! Happy blogging!
45–ZestyLemon–birthdays are just that–bloggers birthdays. You can either post your actual birthdate (including the year), just the month and day, or none of the above, if you wish. Many of us have announced our birthdays though, so that we can enjoy a birthday celebration MB style on the monthly birthday thread. It is also traditional to wear the birthday bloggers favourite colour on their birthday, as well (but I, at least, have been rather bad about doing that…..Sorry guys).
.
Typography Testing
tigerstar, not to be bossy or rude or anything, but post 50 really isn’t appreciated on the recent comments bar–there are at least 20 (if not significantly more) lines of HTML code for HPBs. Also, might I ask what, exactly, the HPB posts ahve to do with the purpose of this thread? [welcoming neophytes]
Robert, stop encouraging off-topic posts! Bad, bad GAPA!
Hey,every body! I’m new,but not too new to know this is the best magazine ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to MuseBlog, Ham! *welcome pies*
…Oh, Robert. *sigh*
Welcome to the blog, Ham! Lessee, how about a nice gooey rhubarb pie, eh? *pies Ham*
One question–male or female? I’m afraid your name isn’t very helpful on that score!
56 – *SPLAT with a hint of bacon*
54 – A GAPA encouraging PoPoing‽‽‽ *gasp*
45- Blogiverseries are the mark of an entire year of a Muser’s stay here (we have a great pool) ends. Mines comin’ up, and I’m excited. ^-^
Ham is a girl, and one whom I know personally. In fact, we were in the same room when she posted. My bunny in comment 54 was a demonstration for her, because she had asked how to make HPBs on the blog. I’ll admit that it was badly timed, coming hot on the rosy little heels of Tigerstar’s bunnies, but other MBers had already complained about it before I had time to delete it.
By the way, Ham has been on the blog before. She and her mother were two of the people singing the Kokopelli song on the April random thread.
61–Robert….I know you don’t have any children (that is, unless my memory fails me), so is Ham your niece????? I mean, you did say you know her personally. Of course, I s’pose you could just be a friend of her mother’s…..Whatever.
Well, I guess you’re forgiven for the PoPo then, as it did have a legit point…
So, Ham, I’m jealous! I would love to meet my favourite GAPA (sorry Rosanne/Rebecca/Paul)! Robert has the greatest insight into everything–I swear there is nothing that guy doesn’t know…..
Oh, speaking of the Kokopelli song, Ham, I just listened to that for the first time earlier today! I thought it was absolutely flamablamablous! That is so cool that you were part of it.
Anyway, I highly recommend this thread. Well, with any luck, that linky will work, if not, well, I’ll just have to try it again….Story of my life.
!*@&# Figures–the stupid linky didn’t work. So, let’s try this again: I highly recommend this thread . If it doesn’t work this time, I think I will scream. Which would be very unadvisable, actually, I doubt the girls in the neighbouring dorms would appreciate it much (I’m a college freshie…).
I’ve been quite remiss in my duties as a welcomer.
Welcome everyone! *pies*
Robert – Was Ham the younger voice then?
Ham – Glad you’ve decided to join the blog!
Hi, Ham! I like your name. Honeybaked Ham is my absolute favorite food in the world. Welcome to the blog! *pies with signature welcome splatter* Enjoy! See you around!
(62) Luna: Ham isn’t a relative of mine, but her mother’s family and I go way back. You can find out more on my latest Time Capsule thread.
(64) groundhog22: Yes, Ham was the only actual kid in the ensemble.
(65) Agrrrfishi: I think Ham’s name is supposed to be taken in the theatrical rather than the culinary sense. Maybe she’ll clarify that point for us.
43-talk like that, i don’t , much. Probably explaines baddness at it. i could, i wish. yeah whatever i have enough probalms sticking word together normally it would be really cool if i could be a jedi but unfourtanatly it all happened a long time ago in a galaxy far far away
i read the thing on how to do smileies and stuff but i still don’t get it how do you do a bunny?
wow. im out of it. i just realized my birthday is in three days. wow i gotta plan a party. quick. wow.
67–ok, to do a bunny, first type a colon, :
Then type the word idea
Then type another colon
Here is an example (but don’t put spaces when you do it)
: idea :
yeah, i wondered that too.
YodaShmoda : This is how you do a
: i d e a :
Except run it together, it’s hard to explain.
67- Use the force, master Yodashmoda.
Also, Yoda, you can look on the HG2MB for more information on how to make smileys. But, when you do, amke sure you always put two spaces in front of them or they won’t show up right.
*Pies YodaSchmoda*
74- Yup, that’s it! Good job! Congrats on your first bunny! *highfives Yoda* *pies*
Heyheyhey. Waitaminit. Sorry if this is topic, but……
39-He talks like that in The Book Thief too?
So. On topic. Hi, Ham! Sorry I’m late. I……. had stuff to do. So, anyway. Welcome. *pies*
Hey, I’m new (so I guess I’m a neophyte). This is my first post.
Uh… yeah. I’m a Harry Potter nerd, and I’m reading The Book Thief now. Other than that… hm. Anything I should know besides reading the rules and the guide? Oooh yeah, and I’ve been getting Muse for four years this month, which I’m excited about.
Harry Potter nerd, eh? Well then, you can find everything else you need to know here.
Now, down to business: *piestesseract*
Say, isn’t there a phenomenon known as “tesseract” in Madeline L’Engle’s Wrinkle in Time? Like, the way they jumped between places/times? Or am I thinking of something else? It’s been an awfully long time since I read that book, afterall….
Sweet! I just Googled it, and I’m not confused afterall…..That’s a first.
Yes, there is a tesseract in (i)A Wrinkle in Time(/i). Although what’s described there is really more of a wormhole, which is a passage in between two times or two places. A tesseract is really a four-dimensional cube. A cube in the fourth spatial dimension, that is; there are two fourth dimensions, one spatial and one, um… time-al. Chronological? Yeah.
But of course Google can tell you this stuff too, haha.
(I just did a project on this at the end of last year with a friend. It was about theoretical physics–pretty awesome. :D)
Oh. And am I allowed to post this here? It’s not exactly related to neophytes.
Oh, and considering I’m only in 9th grade, I’m not exactly an expert either. (And I failed at my attempt to italicize. T_T)
81–Don’t worry about your posts potential off-topicness–if you get yelled at, just blame me….I am the one who asked the question to which you were responding!
As far as italics, you’re on the right track. Just substitute angle brackets (greater than/less than signs) for the parentheses, and you should have it. If you want to practice italics and other HTML, I suggest visiting here.
Hi, tesseract! (you know, I really should think of something more original to say to welcome people, but oh well) Don’t worry about being off topic. If it’s your first day, then you can write pretty much anything you want on the neophyte thread. As long as it’s appropriate, anyway.
The angle brackets are the ones that look like this: ^ except turned on their side, one way or the other. You know, those things.
By the way, to the world in general, what exactly happens if we post the real symbols on here? I assume it’s something bad, since nobody’s ever done it, but, just out of curiosity, what happens?
Which symbols? Do you mean these: < and > ?
Armada, nobody posts the angle brackets, not because something bad happens, but because anytime we try, they disappear into cyberspace. There is, supposedly, some HTML you can write to preserve them (as Robert just demonstrated in 85), but I don’t think any of us know it…..So, yeah, literally nothing happens.
Hi, tesseract! *throws pie from long distance* *pie “tesseracts” to tesseract* *splat*
(86) You make them with “& l t ;” and “& g t ;” (without the spaces). The “lt” and “gt” stand for “less than” and “greater than.”
Now, back to the important business of welcoming newcomers. Welcome!
Hi I’m Walter and i like moles!!!!
Welcome to the Blog, Walter the mole! I like moles too! They are very cute! That is, I assume you are referring to the fuzzy mammal kind of mole…..but one never knows! *pies the mole with a yummy, delicious, scrumptious pie*
89- *pies with apple and cherry pies* Moles are adorable, (the furry kind) and one will make a great addition to the blog. Welcome, Walter the Mole!
89 – *SPLAT times 6.02×10^23* How I love chemistry.
Hi tesseract and Walter the mole!
I’m a neophyte too!
Homework is depressing. That was off topic.
Is it bad to double post?
93–Most bloggers would, I think, say that yes, it is bad to double post. Others like myself are guilty of it often enough that they don’t really care anymore…..
hi other neopyhetes like Tesserect, the Mole, and Ham this is Yoda Shmoda and have a pie! *hands over a pie and while new neophytes eat pie smacks em in the face with another pie*
tesseract: *SPLAT in the fifth dimension!*
hi, sorry my last post was 3 days ago. Anyway, question!! How do i earn piepoints? Also, i am obsessed with writing, reading, and- you guessed it- ghosts.
(sorry if someone already asked my question. i didn’t read the entire thread.
im trying a bunny
97–Honestly, points and how you earn them totally confuzzle me. Perhaps though, you might find your answer here
As far as it having been three days since your last post–I wouldn’t worry about it. I’ve gone three months without posting before…..
Yeah, I didn’t post for I day and a thousand new posts went up. 8o
85-Yes. You doing them doesn’t count, as you can do anything.
86-That’s what I meant.
Hello, mole! *pies the mole*
99- i looked at the thingy, and it worked… i think… thanks!!
89- Yeah, moles are cool. Me, I prefer armadillos, though.
96 (Kokonilly)- Hehe. 5D-splat back at you.
so… am i ready for a non- neophyte thread now, or do i have to spend some more time on this one?
YAY, PHYTES! *pies with a million sizzling scottish blueberry pies* WELCOME TO THE BLOG!
105- it’s up to you. do you think you need to?
88- Best. post. ever.
105-Go wherever you want. Anyone can go onto any thread they want to, at any time in their bloglife, and assuming that you know the rules for whatever you’re going to do, you can join. In the case of some threads (*coughcoughBAcough), ‘knowing the rules’ means (meant) reading six threads from the beginning to understand why everyone is stuffing bombs in their belts and jumping off cliffs (no, really, but that was a RPG), but most threads are pretty easy to get the hang of.
A neophyte gets hit with what now!?! I just put on a clean shirt.
Greetings! You’d better change your shirt before the welcoming committee arrives.
109- Hehehe…welcome, Skatergal! *throws pie in some random direction* *pie tesseracts/wormholes into Skatergals’ face*
109 – Hello!
Hello, everyone! I was googling Muse and found this blog. It seems like it is a blog of awesomeness. I’m calling myself Aura after the rogue AI in .hack. My favorite things are writing, Terry Prachett, mermaids, steampunk, impractical fancy dresses, and writing.
“Blog of awesomeness” — yes, I’d say that sums it up.
109- GREETINGS! Now, I see you haven’t been directly pied. It feels something like this *pies with enormous Scottish Blueberry pie, with sprinkles on top* WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello Aura! If you like Writing, there is a thread for that! And yes this is the blog of awesomeness, and flamablamablousness. Since you like Terry Pratchett (awesome, by the way) you can discuss books on the Books and Reading thread. Have Funâ„¢! ( )
Wow, I haven’t been on here is a looong time. *pies phytes with apple pies* Hello! I’m Syllabub. Welcome!!
Mmm, pie. Thank you!
Pie! Could someone sum up the Bunny Apocalypse for me? I don’t really get it.
113- yay! I SO love that manga.
Wow, it’s been what, four days since I posted here, and there’s already 100 new posts? Eek… *feels out of touch*
Welcome to all new neophytes!
Hi other neyophytes so is that word like an acutaul word or is it a muse word, i like muse words they confuse my friends. For example i told my frined that getting an F on her progress report meant she was headed otwered the FMP she was soo confused. ANyways have a pie! ?*uses the forse to leveate some really good sweedish apple pies (which aren’t even really pies) and sticks em in your face*
so anyways my Bff got me this really kool shirt that has a whole bunch of animals on it and says “may the forrest be with you!” its awsome!
“Neophyte” is a real word. Here’s what the Oxford English Dictionary [it came on my computer, so I merely c+p] has to say…..
neophyte |ˈnēəˌfīt|
noun
a person who is new to a subject, skill, or belief : four-day cooking classes are offered to neophytes and experts. See note at novice .
• a new convert to a religion.
• a novice in a religious order, or a newly ordained priest.
ORIGIN late Middle English : via ecclesiastical Latin from Greek neophutos, literally ‘newly planted’ but first used in the sense ‘new convert’ by St. Paul (1 Tim. 3:6), from neos ‘new’ + phuton ‘plant.’
118- Ask Kittymine.
Hi, Aura and Skatergal!
. (that was for the recent comments bar)
118-We-ell, the basic idea for the Next Generation (the original BA thread is finished) is that the kids of the Resistance (the people who were fighting the bunnies in BA after they took over the world (the bunnies took over, not the Resistance)) are now fighting Xeer, the son of William, the bunny who was the leader in BA. After that, we don’t really have a plot. Well, we do kinda, but not really. Ask Kittymine.
123-Interesting….though a bit vconfusing. I’ll try to find Kittymine..
I am a neophyte!!!
Whoo! (;
Well, a neophyte in the sense of I only started posting recently.
I lurked quite a lot. The I decided to join in. (:
Oh!
*flails arms around to deflect any pies coming in my direction*
124- Here, I tried posting something but it didn’t turn up. Very long. I’m too lazy now though.
It is a thread that takes place in the future. The first ‘series’ of threads was about the first war, and how the hot pink bunnies tried to take over, and how the Resistance (us MBers who survived, and fought the bunnies) destroyed them, and tried to kill William (the evil leader of the bunnies). And finally we killed him and blah blah blah. In the next generation, the remaining Musers get captured by the hot pink bunnies, who were led by Xeer, William’s unknown offspring. The kids of the Musers (except for me and ZVX, Groundhog has a young kid, but also wasn’t captured) go and try to get them back. There was another group of people in the forest/jungle thingy that had been watching the bunnies for the last 12 years.
Okay, well, that’s about it. Off to soccer practice!
126- I have soccer practice too! ^^ Yay!
That is made of awesome, 127.
Hi to you as well, 123!
Greetings. I am Plastic Menagerie, the lurker of many months. I welcome and enjoy all flavors of pie (especially strawberry).
130- Go strawberry! But sadly all I have at this moment is blueberry/raspberry. *pies with sweet blueberry pies* *pies again with halloween pumpkin candy pie* *throws candy corn* WELCOME PLASTIC MENAGERIE! What brings you here to the blog?
Wow, we are getting A LOT of neophytes! Yay! October! Yay!
Hi 130! Nice meeting you!
130- Hi! I’m a bloggie for almost a year, and have less then a month till my blogiversery. Leafygreen will sometimes come into my name, as she has been grounded. If you count her time in my name time on the blog, then she celebrates her blogiversery in July. If you count her time as her own person, than hers is in September. I’ve introduced a new puzzle for the classic bloggers- is Leafy’s blogiversery in July, or September?
Thanks for the welcome and pie (and candy corn). The pie was delicious!
130- Strawberry is the ultimate epiome of fabby fabbity fab fab fab fab fabulousness! I am MissSwann (of the Cygnus Isles), blogger of almost 2 years! I love to read, and am pretty good at reccomending good books.
Hello, Plastic Menagerie and Mattea! *pies with pumpkin pies (after all, they’re in season)*
You know, Plastic, we’re going to have to do something about your name. I mean, it’s fine as a blogname, but Plastic is not the most desirable nickname ever. Maybe Minnie. Or Gerry.
135-What’s a Potterpoint?
(136) Armada, MissSwann and I are having a Harry Potter trivia competition, idea suggested on the HP Summer 2007 thread, became a concrete idea on this thread, and then moved over to the HP Trivia thread, where rules were set down, and the game began–and is currently in progress. Basically, Potterpoints are our way of keeping track of how many points we each have. So, they are a temporary pointage system, that is in use only for the duration of our competition. Hope that helps!
137-Ah. I see.
125, 129, 130-Welcome!!! *piepiepiepiepiepiepie* I haven’t pied anyone in a while, so you have to deal with all of the ones I’ve saving.
Cool threads to visit:
)
Books & Reading
Harry Potter Trivia Off Part 2 (Luna the Lovely and MissSwann are currently having a showdown there, and it’s pretty fun to watch.
Alter Egos
The Hare & The Hedgepig
Have fun!!!
How long will I be a neophyte for, anyway?
140- Some people say a month, but it’s really when people stop considering you a phyte, and you become one with the blog (OM OM OM).
Oh! WE haven’t been properly introduced! *pies*
♪ Let’s do the Time warp again… ♫
140–Until you’re not! There really isn’t a set time, luv. [Why am I all of a sudden calling all y’all luv? *note to self–stop calling MBers luv, they will think you creepy–‘specially the ‘phytes.*]
See post 11 on this page, and scroll to the FAQ part–there’s a link to a discussion of ‘phyte hood that occurred on a prior thread.
142- Are you in the south?
I am one with the blog, I am one with the blog… I am the text and the backround and the pies, I am the text and the backround and the pies…
This really isn’t working…
143–midwest, I’d say. Not really south, although I guess it depends on what you consider south. It’s south of Alaska, lol! But then, everything is. Blog timezone. The “all y’all” is something I almost never do, but picked up from my sister, who picked it up who knows where, but has done for many years.
They “luv” is a mystery–not sure why I’ve all of a sudden started calling you guys “luv”, but probably stems from the fact that it strikes me as British, and I love all things British…..
143- She’s in college, in Alaska.
144- *stifles laughter* I like your name.
146–I am in college, yes. My home state is also Alaska. But I am not going to college in alaska. No, my college is many, many miles away in the midwest–blog time zone (that’d be central, right?).
I would tell you guys the state, but I feel that if I gave anymore away, it would be much too simple to figure out where exactly I’m going to school. And although I trust all of you MBers, this is still the www, and one never knows who/what might be lurking in the subzero of cyberspace…..
I wish I could live in Alaska. That’d be cool. But Illinois is awesome too.
143- Got it.
Alaska=Sarah Palin for me. Unnnnngh. *barf*
But the Denal clan lives in Alaska… Denali clan=Cullens…
hmmmm…
Yuck. Alaska def.= Sarah Palin. Ewww.
I’m getting new glasses, and one of the pairs there looked exactly like hers. I was about to try them on (wondering if her glasses make everyone look stupid) but my mom made me put them down, haha.
Hello, neophytes! I am a blogger of about a month and a half. I don’t feel like a neophyte anymore so I guess I’m not one. My real name is Hannah R., I’m 13, and I live somewhere in New York State (NOT the city!!) I go to a private school for “smart kids”, which I suppose I am. None of my friends are on MuseBlog, but one of them was on the Chatterbox for awhile. I don’t get Muse , but I get Cricket and I’m pretty sure I’m getting Muse for Christmas (or Hannukah, depends.) Yes, I am both Christian and Jewish. I’m 1/4 Jewish, actually.
Anyway, *pies*
[Paragraph moved to Election Countdown 2008]
and also i have a neopyteish question. Is there a poetry thread? and if so how do i find it?
Poems and Songs
I’ve moved the election discussion to its own thread. This is not the place for it.
Cool.
154-Thanks. You’re right.
I’m back after an extended absence. And I finally picked a name that I like, unlike my many others. I think I’ll stick with this.
About my above post:
The full list of my many names according to the Who’s Here is:
Nobodydude23 = Frodo of the West, but formerly of the Shire = Frodo =
Ptolomy the Wise = Pyolomy the Wise = Ptolemy the Wise = A Dijinn =
Hafiz = A Concerned Muser (3/15/06)
Just in case anyone was wondering
157/158–I think I remember you. Maybe. I dunno, everyones names run together after awhile…..
I know what you mean, I barely remember anyone that has recently posted.
160–Hmmm….you started posting about a week before I did, looking at your post 158, so you probably would remember me better as Michelle W.–I don’t remember if you were around when I came back from one of my extended absences (3 or more months) from the blog with a new name (Luna the Lovely).
I know I was a very sporadic poster for most of my 2 1/2 yrs on here……Rarely on at all in the summer, and only on an d off in the winter. And now that I’m at college, I’m on 24/7……
And as far as barely remembering everyone who’s posted recently–yeah, that’s how I was when I returned to the blog in August–nearly everyone had either undergone a name change, or had started blogging during my absence…..
And dang, you were up early–6 o’clock? what the heck? That’s two hours before I got up…..
Anyway, I think I forgot the welcome pie…… Welcome back to the blog, Knight Hawk. *pies*
160- Nope, don’t remember you…
161- Do you have late start, like me and Leafy, or… what?
162–college, luv. I lucked out and don’t have any classes until 11. And somehow managed to get an hour lunch break everyday at 12…..Three classes a day, but on MWF I get out and 3, and TTh, I get out and 5.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be as lucky next semester–I’ve heard that Chem lecture is almost always an 8 am class…….
So, yeah, I was just incredibly lucky when it came to available class times this semester.
Bonjour, salut, aloha, hola, vilkommen, konichiwa, (running out of languages) and hi!
I’ve been getting Muse for quite a while now, so I thought I’d give this a try.
Me a little neophyte, so advice is welcome and much appreciated.
wheeeeeee……..
164-Shalom? Bon jia?……..
Um, yeah, anyway……. Hi! What kind of pies do you like?
Pumpkin!!!! Yay!!!!! Pie me! Pie me!!!
166-Me too!!!! *pies Soulchaser with pumpkin pies (which, admittedly, are probably more comfortable than, say, apple)*
Hey, am I the only one on here? Come on, welcoming committee, say hi to Soulchaser!
164- Ni hao!!!!!!!! NEVER forget ni hao!!!!!!!!
164–Ciao! Welcome to the blog! *pies with pumpkin pie*
Advice? Advice? My advice is: Just go blog on any thread that looks interesting, but if it is an RPG (role playing game) or RRR (round robin riting), read the instructions first…so, basically just skim the description of the thread at the top, to make sure you know what the thread is aobut….
But seriously? I never visited a ‘phyte thread when I was a ‘phyte. I’d been blogging for at least two years before ever coming on one of these.
164-¡Hola! Cześć! Konnichiwa! Halló, Góðan dag! नमसà¥à¤¤ (Namaste!) Aloha! Γειά σας! Gutan Tag! Hej! ä½ å¥½ (nÇ hÇŽo!) Goede dag! Bonjour! Ciao! (ok, must I keep going?) Hello! *pies with blueberry pumpkin pies* *throws confetti* YAY! WELCOME TO THE BLOG!!!
170-Um………… That was enthusiastic………
171-
I know more, I just don’t know how to spell ’em (I’ve learned most of them on my trips with my grandpa.) Hehe, yeah… I just like neophytes for some odd reason.
No, I think I posted at 6:45 or 7. But I live on the East Coast, so The time probably is an hour or two different. And I do remember you Luna, even though the last time I posted was a year ago, at the end of NaNoWriMo.
173–yeah, East Coast would be an hour off of blogtime…..which means you weren’t up quite so early, but still awfully early! I just think in blogtime and assume everybody else is on blogtime, ever since starting college and being on blogtime. Which is dumb, given that before I was three hours earlier than blogtime…….Anyways.
Aww, I feel so loved! Now I feel guilty that I don’t remember you better……I think I remember seeing you on one of the HP threads around the time DH came out……I think.
170- ………. Has someone had some caffienne (sp?)
174- That’s always bugged me… because, one time, I set the clock on my computer to blogtime so I wouldn’t be late to the opening of a thread, and I missed the bus and my mom got POed at me… meh…
154- You forgot Salve(latin) so welcome sorta new person…? Old person coming back? I don’t know it was hard for me to follow. But HI!!!! I’m YodaShmoda and i’m a neyophyte. So… my question is: (i think it was answered above but i need clarification) is there absolutely no definiton for when you become a non-neyophyte? Not that i don’t compleatly appreciate the honor. Also how can you tell if you’re “one with the thread”? (ommmm, Ommmmmmmm!)
*pies everyone useing supioror Force*
176- by ommmmmm, Ommmmmmmm! are you refering to meditation? because people humm while they meditate to give them something to focus on. And if you’re Buhddist, you meditate a lot. So I’m not sure if you realized it, but that could be considered offencive to Buhddists.
Not that I’m Buhddist. But I just wanted to point that out. I’ve actually meditated several times. Without the Humming.
OMG! Is it just me, or have there been more neophytes than usual recently? Hmm. Well, hello all of you! ^_^ *piepiepie*
178–There’s definitely been a surge of ‘phytes…..
*pumpkin pies for Soulchaser* I like pumkin pie too!!!! And I like your name.
*welcome pies for Knight Hawk* I don’t knhow you, because I’ve only been her for……2 and a half months……….but of well.
179- It’s like a baby boom, only different.
181- museie boom maybe? Kool im part of the Museie Boom! Yay, *Pies everyone with singing pies just because i feel like singing*
179-Yeah, there has. Like, I think the number of MBers had at least increased by a fourth, if not by a third, in the last few months……… Weird. I hesitate to say this because it’s probably going to get me pegged as ‘neophyte-hating’, but if we keep getting this many neophytes each month the blog is going to become overcrowded. Well, not exactly overcrowded, but it’s gonna become a lot harder to keep track of everyone. So I hope this is just a passing thing.
182-Capitals? Please?
*Royal fanfare plays*

*curtain falls*
183- Sorry I’m working on it.
183- No, your wrong. look at who’s here.
A new surge of Neophytes was what made me leave in the first place. But the blog seems a lot emptier now.
184-You’re welcome. I still kinda feel like a neophyte myself, and I was very grateful when I was new and someone directed me to the neophytes thread. By the way, you have a very cool name. What does it mean?
185-‘s’okay. It’s rare for neophytes to use capitalization…….. I sure didn’t………
186-Yeah, maybe. But there really have been a lot of neophytes lately. Like, maybe nine or ten a month.
It’s not that I actually don’t like neophytes– I mean, not unless they do things that would make me not dislike them even if they were a longtime blogger– it’s just that if we keep getting this many each month I’m going to have trouble keeping track of them all. I only know maybe two thirds of the people on the blog anyway, and it’s hard to get to know this many more each month…….
Hello, Armada! Wow. I didn’t really expect anyone to say “you have a very cool name”. As for what it means, the best way to describe it is this: “Cerulean” means an intense blue. However, what shade of blue depends on who you ask. “Pyros” is the Greek word for fire. So, I guess I’m blue fire!
I read your post somewhere about your name not meaning a fleet of ships, but instead, Portuguese for “a slightly acrobatic spinning kick”. I think that’s really neat.
Hmm.. nine or ten a month might be increasing, due to that big link on the publisher-run site. Hopefully, it won’t be frustrating. In fact, my guess is that there will be a lot of interesting new people!
Hey Cerulean Pyros! That’s a cool name. I am a ‘phyte too.
Well, they sya the “more the better” but it might get overwhelming. Although a lot of ‘phytes seem to leave after their first week.
189-Cool! I knew Cerulean, and I could probably have figured out Pyros eventually, but…….. yeah. Thanks for telling me.
Whee! I’ve been quoted! I’m famous! *does happy dance* *falls over* I think I had too much coffee, sorry…… thanks for the compliment. And it’s good that I don’t have to drum that into your head, as I’m afraid I’ll have to do with most of the ‘phytes….
190-They do, don’t they? I always figured they just went to threads I don’t go on, but I can understand that just because people who cruise the internet find MB and say hi, they might not necessarily want to stay. Also, maybe people with strict parents who aren’t experienced in the internet get banned after a day or two. I myself didn’t get off without a lecture in internet safety (come on, Mom! I know all this already!), and I’m still not positive my parents’d let me go to a kokon….
Hello ‘phytes!
190- Hm, they do seem to leave…
That reminds me, I must tell Seth to post more often. She said it was because of cross country, but I still don’t believe her. *sigh* Highschool…
Welcome Cerulean Pyros! (is it ok if I call you Pyr or Kyanos? I’m kinda lazy…) *pies with ocean pies* YAY!
Today I shall sing a song for you neophytes!
It’s a beautiful day on this blog today!
A beautiful day for a neophyte,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
It’s a neophytely day on this wonderblog
A neophytely day for a wonder
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
I have always wanted to see this many neophytes.
I’ve always wanted to post on a blog like this.
So let’s make the most of this wonderful day,
Since we’re together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won’t you post today?
Won’t you please,
Won’t you please,
Please won’t you post today?
Well, that was suckish, out of the blue, but, oh well! I hope you stay for at least a day!
192–Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it’s Mr. Rogers’ song!!!!!!!!!!!!!! eep! (not that I had anything against the show, but now I’m going to have that song haunting me the rest of the day)
183- Perspective.
Abraham Lincoln:
“It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: “And this, too, shall pass away.”
190- I certainlly dont feel like leaving yet… this place is fun.
191- i haven’t gotten the lecture yet…. though i dont get those, im just grounded.
194-Yes…… I’ve heard that too. By the way, are you someone from the Ball, or have I just not come across you before?
195-That’s good (that you like it). I think this is my favorite place ever to hang out, and that includes places in the real world.
Lectures are just really annoying. Because when grownups give you a lecture on, say, internet safety, they never consider that you might already have heard what they’re saying somewhere, and then they go on and on about stalkers and whatever, and you have to sit there and listen to everything and pretend you haven’t already heard it from every single magazine article you’ve ever read about stuff on the internet….. I don’t know why it is that people assume all human beings under the age of fourteen are hyperactive, have short attention spans, have bad memory, and are completely clueless. I had a conversation with someone one time:
Them: An oxymoron is a phrase like….. let’s see…… a ‘jumbo shrimp’, for example.
Me: (already knowing this) Or an honest politician.
Them: Well, no, technically that’s not an oxymoron……
COME ON, PEOPLE! WE’RE NOT STUPID!!!!!!
I don’t know why I said all that……. I’m kinda unstable right now….. Sorry….
Hello, everyone! Wow, three people “spoke” to me since my last post! Inconceivable! (If you’ve seen the Princess Bride as many times as I have you’ll know why I said that.)
I’ll go in the order of the posts.
ZestyLemon: You have a cool name too! I assume you like lemons? I’ve also noticed people leaving quickly. Several have left just when I was starting to think they were interesting.
Armada: Whee! I’m a quoter! I’ve made someone famous!
I’m glad you’re pleased that I quoted you and that I know what your name means. When I was lurking, I did try to learn as much as possible about everyone and everything
Beatlesrockr, John, and Hyjayko The Ingenious Swordsman Who Is Feeling Ignored: Actually, I’d like to be called Cerulean Pyros, please.
Who were the ocean pies for? What are ocean pies?
197-You’re so polite, Cerulean! It’s lovely!
Finding out as much as possible about people is a good idea….. I myself read as many old threads as I could when I first came here, though I didn’t lurk.
Much.
Can we call you Cerulean? Cerulean Pyros is fine with me, but some people are kinda lazy……
That’s a good question….. What are ocean pies?
(Armada) I’m from the Ball. You’ll know who I am at the unmasking! Wheee!
~The whole neophyte influx thing isn’t anything to worry about. Really. Although I would like to see data.
~Someone said something about humming during meditation: I think praying is a form of meditation, so Buddhists aren’t the only ones to meditate with regularity. That sound in particular is the Aum, originally Hindu, and is the sound of the cosmos.
~I suggest the web browser Firefox for anyone who doesn’t have it, among its great features is an autotype spell check, so it will highlight bad spelling. Punctuation and capitalization less so, but it’s a start.
Yay, I’m back!
197- Welcome to museblog! you’ll love it here!
(what are ocean pies? I’ve never heard of them…)
197- Hi, Cerulean Pyros! Welcome to the Blog! *pies*
200- Hey, Crazy Titan! I have no clue what ocean pies are.
HELLO EVERYONE!
WELCOME!
Welcome to museblog, everyone!
Hey, guys, say hi to my friend!
CTN! You’re back! Hi!
199-that’s what I thought.
Say something, Wyatt….
hi
Thank you….
Hello, yet again! Thank you, Armada, I try!
Yes, isn’t it fun to look at old threads? I went to October 2007 recently to see what was happening a year ago. ‘Twas fun! I also went to the oldest threads in the archives. There were so many fewer posters then!
Thank you, The Incredibly Titanite Astronomy Nerd and IBCF! I’m glad to be here!
Hey, now everyone wants to know what ocean pies are…
Hello I’m new. Hit me with a pie!!! I prefer pudding but pie will do fine!
Widget’s my friend, by the way…. And as I’m definitely the first in the welcoming committee, allow me to pie you, Widget! *pies* *pies* *pies again*
Thanks for coating me in lots of tasty pies!
Does Widget remind you guys of POSOC in any way?…….
Everybody, look out here comes my brother!
Hi I’m new. I love pie espcaily pumkin pie. I think pie is best on a plate, but on my face will do if you you must. So pleas pie me.
Hello,
Wya-wizzy! *pies with pumpkin pies*COME ON, PEOPLE, SAY HI TO WIDGET AND WIZZY!!!!!!
Sorry I’m impatient…… It’s different when you know someone……. But hey, W+W, now we can have a kokon with no help whatsoever! In fact, we just had one! Of course, you don’t know what a kokon is yet……. Thats okay, though…..
very funy you’re the person we should look out for you’re evil.
I am know tuning my pie throwing satellite on the room next door. Ha Ha Ha! Pies come down in the thousands directly on my brother. The splats can be heard from miles away. Unfortunately, my pie throwing satellite only throws one kind of pie, cow pie. I apologize, I wish I could make pumpkin for you. Whatever, enough of that useless folly. Welcome, Wizzy the Wise Guy!
213-Who, me? Why?
(I’m going to bed, by the way. Don’t expect to hear from me until tomorrow.)
(Just so you know, W+W……. I don’t normally bother saying stuff like that, Koko knows……)
I think Wizzy the Wise Guy is a little like Kokopelli! He might actually throw a pie in your face:!:
Hey Hey Hey I said I perfer it on a plate!!!!!
You’er in my face if anybody. Plus I thin you’re a little like a slug.
Hey keep it cool chicken head!
I could’ve sworn I posted here already. >.> Must have closed my window instead of clicking submit.
Anyways, I’m a neophyte, and I love scientific-sounding names. o3o You might have seen an earlier post in the morphing thread–that’s me.
I’ve been getting Muse for about 3 or so years and have been submitting fan emails demanding an article on role-playing since. None of them ever managed to get published, though. Apparently I’m not interesting enough, or I’m just too nice to submit an original threat. Or I write too much. -pokes post and is bitten-
I am one of those people who love role-playing, use IRC slang constantly within her writing, have a crazy thing for semi-colons, gets annoyed over grammar errors in other people’s writing but has problems writing long list-sentences properly. Like this one. Oh, and I’m also a Whovian and get on sugar rushes very, very easily. o3o I think I submitted a homework article on a sugar rush–it was full of lame inside jokes and confused my teacher quite nicely.
And since I’ve always wondered this–can anyone guess how old I am? (I get a huge range of responses whenever I ask this. x3)
Welcome, Widget, welcome, wizzy, welcome, Illusionary Sky. *pies for all*
Hi, Illusionary Sky! *pies*
-runs around getting hit by pies-
Mmm, apple. My favorite.
*pies any one in face shot*
205- You can abbreviate my new name or call me CTN.
Welcome to museblog, widget* wizzy!
*Titan pies*
={()
225-I remember you as CTN, but if you prefer I can call you TITAN (I just got that, by the way, very funny).
Cheerio, everyone!
Hello, Widget45, wizzy the wise guy, and Illusionary Sky!
Great names!
Well, Illusionary Sky, let me think. Hmm… 13? 9? 16? 11? 1007? 12 to the ninth power? 4829 days? Are you older or younger than the Hubble Telescope? Were you born before or after the invention of the trans-dimensional telephone booth? O.K., I give up. It’s hard!
I’m sure you already know this, The Incredibly Titanite Astronomy Nerd, but the initials of your name turn into the acronym TITAN. If you didn’t know it, it’s a really neat coincidence!
Welcome, Illusionary Sky, Widget and Wizzy! I’m Kai, the resident space cadet.
WELCOME ILLUSIONARY SKY, WIDGET, AND WIZZY!!!!
Wizzy: I LOVE RPing too!! We have many role-playing threads too, if you would like to check them out here are some: Bunny Apocalypse, Muse Academy, Muse Scouts, The Pieceful Pie Planet (sort of), ect.
197- Okey dokey! Cerulean Pyros it is!
197/198- An ocean pie is…
1 lb. white fish, skinned and boned
1 c. milk
Salt
Freshly ground pepper
4 oz. shrimp, cooked, peeled and deveined
6 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. all purpose flour
1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
2 tsp. grated lemon peel
4 c. chopped peeled potatoes (about 1 1/2 lb.)
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese (4 oz.)
Lemon twists to garnish
Finely chopped fresh parsley to garnish
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place fish, milk, salt, and pepper in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer. Cover and poach about 5 minutes or until fish tests done. Drain fish, reserving milk; flake fish into small pieces.
In a 1 1/2 quart casserole, combine flaked fish and shrimp. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a medium saucepan. Stir in flour, cook 1 minute, stirring. Gradually stir in reserved milk to make a smooth sauce. Boil 2 minutes, stirring. Stir in parsley and lemon peel; pour over fish mixture. Keep warm.
Meanwhile, cook potatoes in a pan of salted boiling water about 20 minutes or until tender. Drain and mash potatoes. Stir in remaining 3 tablespoons butter. Stir in 1/2 of cheese. Spoon potatoes around edge of fish mixture; sprinkle with remaining cheese.
Bake in preheated oven 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Garnish with lemon twists and parsley.
And after that, you can just place it on a beach, and let the ocean spray, well, spray it!
That ocean pie looks like my Parmesan Pull-aparts recipe. o3o
Hi, phytes! I’m Zinc, and I’m going to celebrate my first blogiversery on Nov. 6th. If you stick with us, you’ll get addicted pretty fast. Oh, and most neophytes ask this- “When do I stop being a neophyte?” Some people say you stop after one month of blogyness, some people say when you stop thinking yourself a neophyte, but I personally believe that it’s when the younger oldbies stop considering you a neophyte. And now I ‘m filling this post with useless crap so I’ll stop and allow you to scope out the blog.
On Halloween I will have been on the Blog for 2 months!
Hi Museblog!
Zallie: Hello! Welcome to the blog! *pies with pecan and cream pies* YAY!!!!! If you have any questions, just ask, we’d love to answer them!
Hello, Zallie! *pies with in-season pumpkin pies* I like your name. Is it your real name, or did you just come up with it?
234, 235 – Thanks, guys! No, it’s not my real name, but I kind of wish it were. I’m actually one of the oldest members. I first posted here way back in 05, I think. I haven’t been around for a year or so, at least, so it’s good to be back.
236-Oh, okay. That’s cool! I’ve only been on MB for around three months, so I don’t remember you….. But anyway, welcome back!
236- Hehe, whoops. Well then, WELCOME BACK! *pies* I’ve been on here for almost a year (less). We’ve gotten a lot of neophytes, so, yeah. That’s about it. *pies again*
Yeah, I don’t recognize anyone anymore, aside from the GAPAs.
Hello, Zallie! Long time no…erm…write! How have you been?
239–hullo and welcome back, Zallie! I’m afraid I don’t remember you (I’ve been blogging on and off since March 06). But welcome back!
Hi Purple Panda! I’ve just been really busy, I guess. I have a lot going on right now. What’s happened since I’ve been gone? I’m glad I’m not the only oldie here. How’re you doing?
Zallie–
I haven’t been here very much lately because I’ve been drowining in homework, but I don’t think the blog has changed very much during the past year. Well, except for the explosion of RPGs (seriously, there are at least 500 of them).
Welcome back!
Hi Zallie!
Hi Zallie! I’m a fairly new MBer of about a year.
244 – Hi, I remember you! How’s it going?
245 – Wow. I don’t even know how to say your name. How did you get all those characters?
197- Yea princess bride. Luv that movie. Would read the book but i can’t seem to find it.

Illustionary Sky- I love your name! It’s sooo poetic. I love poetic.

HMF HMF! …….CHIP! CHIP HMF HMF CHIP!……..
(stop panicking….. we must find a plan……)
250–please see the post I just left you on the Tricks and treats thread.
and again, welcome to the blog (but please go read the post I left you). *pies*
Hello Chipmunk!
Symbols can be found in Unicode indexes, and the HTML Typographic Tricks thread.
Better spelling can be achieved through the use of Firefox.
252-I do believe Chipmunk is really kiwimuncher, and all the seemingly random posts they have been making have something to do with the plot of some RPG or other. But I could be wrong.
YodaShmoda- Since you’re a neophyte, I know you don’t know all the ins and outs of the ‘Blog, so I’ll help you out. First of all, capitalization, grammar, and spelling are very important. Secondly, although randomness is one of the staples of Muse culture, you must make sure your posts are somewhat germane to the topic at hand, and not too hyper. It simply gets tiring after a short while.
246- The real name is just “ZVX.” Pronounce each letter separately. At least, I pronounce each letter separately.
252- Indices, not indexes. It’s more formal, more standard. Sorry. If no one’s noticed, I’m a bit of a perfectionist.
I must say, whoever Chipmunk is is really starting to get on my nerves. If it is Kiwimuncher, PLEASE STOP! If it is a neophyte, PLEASE STOP!
Hi just joined. can you please tell me how the chess thing works?
thanks, (!);
Welcome to MuseBlog, hobbit! I’m Kai, the resident space cadet (by which I mean that I talk about space exploration a lot, not that I’m any more eccentric than anyone else on MB.) I don’t know much about our chess-playing system, as I’ve never played, but I’m sure someone who has played can tell you all about it.
Welcome to MuseBlog! You can sign up for an account and play chess against other MBers. More importantly, you can also talk to us! Looking forward to having you around.
Welcome pies!
(Unrelatedly–aww, this thread has my first post on it!)
Welcome, hobbit!
I’m Maths Lover, but also love physics, and quite a few other things.
Wilkommen, hobbit!
I also like to play chess; if you want to get started, I’d suggest posting on this thread or, if no-one responds for a while, this one and asking for a chess partner. If you find someone, the GAPAs (Great And Powerful Administrators) will make an account for you. The board is pretty easy to use: you can fiddle around with the second one on this page,to get the hang of it (it’s a non-standard layout called “Capablanca”, but the pieces work the same way). That’s basically all there is to it- if you have any questions, this is the place to ask them
