20- Ah! Aussi mon spelling (can’t remember the french word for spelling or grammer). and there are no accents because I’m LAZY.
28-29- Laadan is a constructed language, I think.
30- I’ll translate for you. “I want to talk in Spanish! It’s very fun and I have large vocabulary in Spanish because my teacher in Spanish class is a good teacher. (Also, I’m not sure about “sto cercando” for “I’m trying to,” never having seen it myself, but it could be right.)

45) Du sprichst auch deutsch ! Super.
57) You know what. That is totally what I meant. In fact, I don’t know why I typed that because I was thinking “J’ai seize ans” as I was typing it and it came wrong for some reason or other. Of course, it was late. What can I say? My brain was not functioning properly.
Hola gente. (I don’t know how to make inverted exclamation/question marks. Can someone tell me how?)
Lo siento, mi espanol (I don’t know how to make tildes either) no es bueno. Corrija mis errores, por favor.
60- You can set your keyboard to work in other languages. I only know how to do so on Windows, though, so if you have a Mac or something running Linux, I couldn’t help you. I’m sure you can also just go to the Character Map and copy them.
“¡Hola gente!
“Por fa'” is sort of a contraction of “por favor”, if you didn’t know that already. I added the “pero” in the second to last sentence to make it read better.
I’m not sure what you mean with that second sentence. “In all forms, Muse is the best magazine”?
I suppose I should translate for the non-Spanish-speaking people.
“Hello people! In all forms (ways?) Muse is the best magazine, and Feather is my favourite Muse. Kokopelli is crazy! I’m sorry, my Spanish isn’t good. Correct my errors, please.”
88- *heads spins* Los siento, me no habla espanol. No comprendo, No se… *heads spins even more…* Chihuahua? Un perro? *head spins so much she falls down in dizziness*
89- Argh! That “Spanish” you wrote hurts my eyes.
It should be, as far as I can tell, “Lo siento. Yo no hablo español. No comprendo, no sé.” And “¡Ay chihuahua!” is an exclamation similar to “¡Ay caramba!” or other such phrases. Chihuahua is also a state in Mexico. My post said, “Where is everyone? Has this thread died? Jeez!”
90- Lo siento then. I think that was a typo, I got it right in post 87. I shall give up on trying to write in “Spanish”… Just how do you make the nice accent marks? And the tilde?
(91) There are various ways. If you’re on Windows you can use Character Map (under Programs > Accessories >System Tools) or you can use Alt+assorted number pad keys (Alt+0233 = é, for example). You can no doubt find a list through Google. If you’re on a Mac, someone else will have to fill you in.
Or you can just copy and paste from the list I added at the top of the page.
92- Thank you!
92- Or you can do as I do and simply add Spanish as a possible language for your computer. Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region -> Regional and Language Options -> Keyboards and Languages -> Change Keyboards. Then you just switch to whatever language you want, and then you can easily switch between languages with the language bar on the taskbar. Or you can do the character map or whatever.
Je ne sais pas quoi dire. Fromage.
95- What does “dire” mean again?
It means “to say” and conjugates like lire and écrire (troisième groupe).

Estoy tomando a español I el próximo año.
Yay, Dashboard.
98- How the grammar works? I have a feeling that the word for work not done by humans is something different, but I don’t know what….
*tries to think of something to say in a different language and fails*
99- It wasn’t me, it was my Dashboard translator. I knew the words I needed, but not the grammar…
I know. I use that sometimes too. It’s really pretty nice. Though it’s annoying in French because it’s always formal. Never informal. Quite frustrating.
Yes, it would be nice if online translators would give you an option to choose. There are so many peculiarities in the “tu” and “vous” forms, and they’re not at all alike.
100-Whoa, cool. That’s actually pretty good, considering. It’s mostly correct, as far as I can see.
I’m so excited that I finally get to take Spanish next year! I’ve been sitting in on my school’s Spanish I class whenever I’ve been able to this year so I’m doing Spanish III/IV as a freshman. The class isn’t very much fun, but it’s so nice just to be around the language again.
And also! There’s a bit of a chance that I might be able to go to a dual-immersion camp this summer! For two weeks! In Minnesota! -hopes fervently-

I checked that, lots of times. I even tried just regular-posting with “115- Soy agujereado tambien.” But it’s not worklng. i think this is what happened to my story before, on the Writing Challenge II thread.
Whenever I try to say “Soy agujereado tambien,” it zaps!!!!

Les persons n’est pas ici!
Ich sprechen kiene Doitch! (very, very, mangled spelling) Was machen sie? Was lesen sie? (I’m learning German, if you can’t tell) Ich habe eine Rose. Ich habe eine rot Rose. Ich lesen The Dragons of Ordinary Farm. (Oops, gotta go!)
Au revoir! Merci! (for, now I know I’m not the only one in existance!)
I’m taking Spanish now. I wanted to take italian too, but I couldn’t because they’re at the same time *sigh*
No habla espagñol.
Je ne parle pas espagnol -either-. (in French? :???:).
I can say. Hola. Buenos Noches. Bien. No. Si. Buenos Dias. Adios Amigos. Feliz Navidad. And count to ten. That’s my Spanish vocabulary.
I speak two languages. Chatspeak and French.
English sentence: I went to camp for a month, made a little clay monster, learned archery, took the activity windsurfing, and made lots of friends.
Chatspeak: i went 2 camp 4 a month, made a little clay monster, learned archery, took the activity windsurfing, n made lotsa friends.
PIG LATIN: I-hay ent-way o-tay amp-cay, &c. &c.

Google Translator is my best friend in the universe. It has made me fall in love with the languages of Albanian, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, Hindi, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish Gaelic, Malay, Swahili, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, and Welsh. (I was already in love with English, Italian, and Yiddish.) So in a lovely multilingual spirit, here is a basic greeting in all of those languages:

I find I confuse people with my way of talking, since I say words in Japanese or German, but primarily English.
Hello: Usually say “Heya” or “Konnichiwa,” but for good morning and good night I say “guten morgen” and “gute nacht.”
Thank you: Thanks if it’s offhand, but usually “danke.”
Sorry: “Sorry” if offhand, but usually “gomen nasai.” If I’m thinking enough about other languages, I’ll say, “Hontou ni gomen nasai.”
I also say “thank you for the meal” and “ohisahiburi,” and sometimes I’ll ally call my teachers “sensei,” but I correct myself. And rarely, I’ll read a single word (like on a sign) with the pronounciations of Japanese words in the Roman alphabet.
I also eat my lunch with my chopsticks, and I wash them with the dishes. I pull them out before my parents notice, since they think I’m weird enough as it is. Yes, I tear up my sandwiches and eat them with chopsticks. And it’s possible to eat applesauce in under two minutes or so with chopsticks.
But I have to keep this at a minimum around my family since they don’t really encourage multi-cultural blending. I can speak some German around my gramma though.
My karate sensei (teacher) says random Japanese words like that. Here is what I know:
Please teach me: Anakashe mas
Thank you: Arigato
Begin: Hajime
Numbers 1-10: Ich, ni, san, shi, go, roku, sichi, hachi, ku, ju
Obi spobeak Obenglobish.
Have you noticed that Pig Latin and its variants all add syllables to words, but Ble subtracts them? (Of course, they are merely confusing, whereas Ble is genuinely incomprehensible.)
That sounds like me with French.

That’s okay, starr. We know the Chinese-speaking MBers were excited to find each other. So far Google translate has been up to the task. Just be aware that posts may be delayed if we can’t stop and take the extra time.

I’m going to practice my Greek transliteration here:
Αι αμ αττεμπτιγγ του λεÏν ΓÏικ. Αι δων’Ï„ άφ μυχ Ï€Ïακτισε, θο, σο πλισ δων’Ï„ ιελ ατ μι. Αι Ïιλι υις Αι νευ μωÏ. Οκη, βαι.
That was rough and probably quite incorrect. But for only a half-hour lesson, I’d say it’s not terrible, especially just from memory.
Oh, what I was trying to say:
“My name is Piggy. I am attempting to learn Greek. I don’t have much practice, so please don’t yell at me. I really wish I knew more. That would make things much easier. Okay, bye.”
Don’t worry about it. As I’ve seen, Greek is one of the more difficult languages to learn out there. You’ve got tense, gender, mood…etc. to put a proper word to use. I’m impressed you’ve gotten that far!
No, you see, that wasn’t translation. That was transliteration, the transposing of phonetic sounds from one script to another. As for the difficulty of the grammar, I’ve had years of Latin, and my Latin/Greek teacher says that the two languages are quite similar grammatically. Ancient Greek, that is, which is what I’m learning.
Oops. Heh. My bad. Ancient Greek, is it?
Oof. My dad learned that stuff in College-said it was one of the toughest things he ever learned.
Mlef duer e liouet, santra, oura e snegl.

I’m afraid we overworked GAPAs can’t continue posting online translations in languages we don’t understand. We promise to read (and, presumably, understand) everything that goes on the blog. But I know only a few words of Hungarian, and finding an online translator was a nuisance. We may be tempted to start zapping if MBers don’t show a little self-restraint.
(For the record, here’s how it construed Sudo’s post: “He had found the translated language after it is, therefore! Hooray, Hooray! The Party street! Pay! Cake, and showing cake, and showing cake, and produce oil-cake and gifts.”)
(Hm. That’s not how it translated for me… I used Google Translator, it’s the only one I’ve been using because it has a detect language setting. But yes, I’ll stop…)

Hello, my little accelerator pedal!
I think I may actually like that better.
I’m not sure it falls quite into this thread… but as it is about language: I’m seriously debating using ‘royal we’ when I speak. The only concern I have is frustrated adults (i.e. teachers), but at the same time, such a fun variation on English looks too good to pass up.

I just discovered that writing in Spanish by using Google Translate is so much fun!
I think Google confuses “sino” and “pero.”
Ah well. Same difference (to me anyway :D).
My compulsive corrections:
Oh! Au Revoir! Mon diner et maintenaut!
Don’t you mean Je l’etudie? And maintenant? Anyway, it doesn’t matter.
Sorry, I know that was lacking in accents but I’m too lazy to copy/paste them in. Forgive my laziness, and anyway, it’s perfectly understandable without them.
Ohayo! Hajimemashite! Ogenki desu ka? Watashiwa Mikazuki desu. Samui desu ka? Atsui desu ka? Atsui desu. Sayoonara!!!
How do you get the symbols on here?
Ohayo gozaimasu! Atsuii ne? Samui, iie.
(I speak a little bit of Japanese, enough to converse in broken mixtures of Japanese and English to my Japanese relatives.)
SFTDP, but…parchment stack…
I always feel so proud when I understand things in French. * is a failure *
¿Quién habla español? No puedo recordar.
Salvete!
(Crap! I forgot how to say what I wqanted to say! Well, that’s what happens when I don’t go straight back into Latin when school starts again. My vocabulary is pretty skimpy.)
Sum defessa, sed non semisomna! Eugepae! (I apologise in advance, I can’t resist) In piscinam est villa, nomine MuseBlog.
MuseBlog’s in a fishpond?
That would be interesting.
(Incidentally, you would use the ablative, not the accusative, to show stationary location. So, “In piscina est villa.”)
I’m sorry, I’m obssesed with putting things in fishponds.
Ce n’est pas poissons. EST-CE QUE COMMENT TU COMPRENDES C’EST UNE PISCINE DE POISSONS?
… I should stop watching Doctor Who.
Maybe we could have a new thread, GAPAs? This one’s nearing 300 posts, and more people might start posting on a new one.
Could we have a 2011 version of this thread?
I think this thread could stand a new version.
Why not? Here you go.
