Why is it called abandon all hope? What a depressing name…
I have to agree with Ebeth… it makes me think that you’re telling me to abandon all hope of ever getting anything onto the mp3 player besides the 59 songs of intrumental classical music that they put on it to begin with.

mrahr, this weekend sux! so we finally sold our old house, after having it on the market for 2 1/2 years, so were finally going to have money for toothbrushes + stuff. JK. guess thats good news. but then today my aunt + uncle invited my family over to dinner to kind of celebrate this happening, and my mom starts fighting w/ my uncle. + i dont think its the first time shes picked a fight w/ him, b/c hes in the real estate business, + my mom thinks all ppl in that business are evil b/c we had so many bad experiences with them while trying to sell our house. + i just feel sorry for my uncle b/c hes basically the type of person who tries to make everybody happy, and he just had some surgery + is still recuperating. fortunately, our house is only 2 blocks away from theirs, so i just left
When I moved in 2004, our house was on the market for a full year and was sold to our realtor’s son (of all people) shortly before we decided that we were going to move back. So that kind of sucked. I feel your pain, emogrl.

The Muses’ close personal friend, Larry Gonick, said that they’d mentioned they’d stop by from time to time. Sure enough, several of them posted messages in this thread (here) on Feb. 13, starting with Pwt (at message #38). Koko, Mimi, Urania, Crraw and Chad showed up later that night (starting at message #64) after most Musers had already gone to bed. Mutt and Robert (and maybe some lurkers) were the only Musers on the blog at the time of their appearance.
Will they show up again? We’ll have to wait and see.
When TOC (the overworked cartoonist (larry g (the amazing frood))) feels less overworked i guess…

okay, i was just reading the old posts, and going back up to #42, there is a distinct difference between nerds and geeks. although both started as weird circus people who did stuff like eat live chickens, NERD eventually came to mean someone who is extremely intelligent in all areas (except social stuff, duh). a GEEK is highly specialized, like someone who is failing their english class but knows the name of every superhero in every comic book ever printed.

I recently read about a movement to reclaim the word “geek” — it’s not unlike homosexuals reclaiming “queer”, for example. Now, apparently, “geek” is a label that all … well, geeks … can wear with pride.
Personally, though “nerd” has more negative connotations, I would prefer to be called a “nerd” because to me “geek” denotes an overwhelming interest in either the sciences or anime & sci-fi. I’m so much more of a history/literature/music/random knowledge/pissing everybody off geek.

suzuki is a method for teaching little kids to play violin.
How long has your sister been playing?
Suzuki is this learning method, developed by Dr. Suzuki. Hardcore, it involves learning everything by ear (which is how I started; it’s mostly the really little kids who do that), the parents learn along with the kid, etc. Most people just use the books, though. There are 10 books (at least for violin; I don’t know about other instruments), and they have pieces arranged by difficulty, to learn a specific technique, etc. It’s a good way of learning.
My sister has been playing since she was 5.
I used to play out of the suzuki books. Violin’s cool. Bass is cooler, but i don’t play bass. I quit violin and piano both last year when we moved-i just kept trumpet. Anyway, suzuki’s cool. I liked suzuki.

Erm…basically we just talk. Occaisionally we pie each other. And sometimes we scream, panic, and helplessly run around in circles. Rants are encouraged, but be warned that pie-throwiing may ensue at any moment in the aforesaid. Chasing people around in circles is not encouraged, however if you happen to have a butterfly net in your hand at the time, we’ll simply wave it away as “impersonating pwt, who pwns” What pwt pwns exactly, i’m not sure, but apparantly he/she/it does. We request that everybody spell CHOKLIT right and bow to the Great Kokopelli fifty times a day. You may not spam anybody but wikipedia and realtors. And me. But you don’t know my email, so you can’t. Mwahaha. Singing monty python is a quite different matter though, and is a frequent occurence. H2G2, if not worshipped, must be carefully avoided so that the bloggers don’t explode around you from shock and dismay and threats of imminent doom. That’s about all, i’d say.
