This all-purpose non-threaded thread for September might continue the themes in Welcome, Musers! (see far, far below). Or it might not–it’s up to you. As always, suggestions for new topic headings are welcome.
If you’re here for the first time, please click the Info & Rules tab at the top of the blog to learn how to behave. Otherwise, just plunge on in. After all, … it’s mostly harmless.
Yay first post!
I’ll put a quote here, since my brain just shut down.
” Mulch was not impressed. “I’m not impressed” he said. “
You’ve been reading Artemis Fowl.
Yay second post!
Yeah…I was disappointed in the Opal Deception. Poor Julius.
will Pheonix tell me about the Belgariad?
Sure! But you can just look on welcome, Musers, which isclosed (sniff). But I can ddo it again if you can’t get it.
“Welcome, Musers!” isn’t gone. You can still visit it down here. Phoenix’s description of the Belgariad is comment 166.
Somthing serious now. Who is donating for hurricane Katrina victims? Especially New Orleans… It is horrible there. I think, instead of Mostly Harmless, we should find a way to HELP. For instance, a Jew, as required by religious law, donates ten percent of thier money or goods to any charity. I am giving mine to two seperate relief forces, one of which is for Katrina victims. I would appreciate it if some other people would help.
woah, hello this is cool! I hadn’t been on the muse site in ages and I came on looking for a pink bunny picture for my forum and BOOM!!!!! THE THUNDER CRASHETH!! MUSE HAS A BLOG AND I HAD NO CLUE!!! well anyhoo, here I am (finally) still smacking myself on the head for complete neglect of the lovely website *SLAP SLAP SLAP*
Good evening, fellow Musers. How’s everyone? I’m greaaaaaat. In mood and in personality. Grant has become so obsessed with his own greatness he will speak in the third person for the rest of this post. Grant thinks he might acquire a date for homecoming. Grant is very content at this moment.
Yeah, I heard about Katrina. It’s really horrible. Apparently, when the helicopters came to try to rescue the refugees refuged in the SuperDome, someone shot at them. SHOT at them. The helicopter pilot was furious. What’s even worse is that they couldn’t fit everyone on the helicopter. And guess who got left behind…THE POOR PEOPLE! I DEMAND that communism is applied! RAHHHH!
Meep, please don’t kill me for thinking that communism isn’t that bad. It isn’t. In theory, it works purty well. Like, if you made a virtual community on a computer, and used communism as a government form, it would work. It’s just, in the real world, it all collapses, and well…Instant chaos. Not good. But in situations like this, it would be a good idea to use it. On the Titanic it would of helped save more children. So basically, the conclusion we draw from this is that stick to democracy until some sort of disaster occurs. THan, use communism.
Welcome, Ebeth. Don’t feel guilty. It’s never to late to start posting.
Heavens, that last statement was a complete change of tone from the little communism blurb up there…
-Pheebs
Hehe i own every Artemis fowl exept the Arctic incedent.
The Opal Deception is ok i liked the eternity code better though.
Axa have u seen the new warrior website? They have pictures of the characters(in color). But they’re names are only how they are in into the wild. -_-
Yeah Katrina was horrible.
I’ve heard that rescuers had to dig through dead bodies to get to the survivers. Phoenix my parents donate to charity and I really hope it goes to the survivers. Pheebs I agree that they should of rescued the poor people first than the dumb rich guys who were too stupid to leave. But then, they’ve been saying this would happen for a very long time. I can’t believe that just a few months ago I was watching PBS show about what might happen if a huge hurricane hit New Orleans. And now it’s happened.
Ebeth (#8),

The pink bunnies welcome you!
All,
Do you think we need a separate Katrina thread? What’s going on is heartbreaking and impossible to ignore, but I’m not sure how much there is to say about it.
Does anyone have relatives down there? My Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim lived in Bay St. Louis, near the center of where the hurricane hit. They made it out in time, but they lost their house and everything in it.
I dont think we need a thread, but it is still horrible. And yes, my Bubby and Zaidy (grandparents) live in Miami, and my Grandma and Grandpa (actualy great grandparents, but that is too long) live in Mississippi. Grandma and Grandpa say that they didn’t lose property, but they are getting LOADS of refugees. My Bubby and Zaidy lost power, but even though they live on a tiny island off the coast, thank God they didn’t get hurt.
Maybe we should have a seperate Katrina thread. I mean, we don’t want to invade upon the cheerful conversations of the September Free For Allers.
More complaining about rich dudes getting saved: Seriously, the rich dudes were the one with the cars, ect, that they could actually evcuate with! THe poor people couldn’t do it because they might not have a reliable vehicle.
Chin Tsu: THere was a PBS special?! Ok, guys: Always trust PBS from now on!
-Pheebs
Tell you Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim I’m sorry their house was demolished, and I’m happy they had the bloody sense to evacuate.
Phoebe (16),
Thanks. I think you’re right about the thread. This disaster doesn’t exactly fit well under “Random Craziness.” I’ve started a separate topic heading for Katrina. All: Please post Katrina-related comments there.
–R. C.
ChinTsu: Yeah I’ve seen that website, they have the dawn cover up, I’m so happy…
Welcome, Ebeth.
You’re among the possible most… overberingly weird of the Musers.
Trust me, it’s not as painful as it sounds.
Love and mess like that,
Morbid aka Agent Mothman
Patron Saint of Deranged Rodent Obsessives
Back to normal, undepressing conversation.
Eh, how’s the weather been lately?
Wait, that doesn’t work.
Any of you ever been to “Happy Tree Friends?” Isn’t that DISGUSTING?!
So, yesterday I had 6 tests/quizzes. Out of 7 classes. And I still have a ton of homework.
The world hates me.
By the way, Robert, are you not a contributing editor or whatever it’s called anymore?
I still haven’t gotten my september Muse yet….
I have, and I could post a rant about why feral cats have every right to kill songbirds. And I will. Feral Cats are feral because of humans. So what right do we have to kill cats doing what Nature dictates they do?
I want to go to the Island of Ascension now.
Neither have I…
but then the post office has to recieve the mag and then mail it to Hawaiii.
*sigh*
Lizzie (#23),
If you’ve checked the masthead (the microscopic-print staff list on page 2), you’ve no doubt noticed that there are no contributing editors nowadays. The Company decided to have another full-time editor in the Chicago office instead. So I’ve moved to the Board of Advisors, while Nancy Kangas and Karen Hopkin are going freelance. Old-time Muse hand Agnieszka Biskup has stepped in to help out while they look. That’s why you’ve been seeing so much of her unpronounceable name lately.
All clear now?
–R. C.
: gasps and pokes ChiTsu: You live in Hawaii? You’re lucky! I live in smog riddled California. : sulks :
*ChinTsu
Is it my imagination, or have comments gotten a lot shorter since we switched to MuseBlog?
–R. C.
Not your imagination. Oh no’s! It’s been at least twenty since my last post! Note to self: post more comments!
I think Muse ought to have its own television show! Who’s with me?
Eh?
-A.G.
A.G.?
yeah, the posts are definently getting shorter.
Three day weekend!!! Yay. I love labor day.
And I got my new double cd I ordered so I am happy.
Ahhh! I start school in (counts on fingers) three days! On Wednesday everyone should wear black in mourning, and green in my honor, please. Your tribute is appreciated.
Only for this year. I go back to Iowa this June. The place were the houses are alot cheaper. AND there’s no vog.n_n
Yes, posts are shorter, but this is more like a forum than a place to post letters.
I start on Tuesday. I’ll wear black. : is sad :
I start on tuesday. and posts are getting shorter because it is easier to make them.
I started THREE BLOODY WEEKS ago..
Aha. That comment up there, “Eh? -A.G.” was a kinda lousy pun. Heehee. See Robert’s comment a few before it and you’ll get it.
I shall wear black tomorrow, or I’ll try. I don’t have black clothes, but I will wear a red armband in mourning.
haha, I love the picture..
I should be practicing..
I really need a shirt that says “I can’t, I have to practice” or something along those lines..
If you start in August, you get out in May, right? I get out in the second week of June usually. Fah.
WHAT DOES n_n MEAN, ALREADY? If someone dosn’t cut the suspense and tell me, I will tell everyone thier totem is a “Chironex”. And Lizzie, what picture?
Oh! Hey! before I made my insensetive last comment, there were 42 comments! this must be a sign that Mostly Harmless is working!
Robert? have you noticed my request for a “books” subject?
my school starts tomorrow…
E.~A.,
Wouldn’t books fall under “Things We Like”?
n_n is a smily face, more specifically one derived from anime.
Each “n” is supposed to look like an eye when someone smiles.
: hides in corner : Woe is me. I have school in some ten hours. And I should go to sleep. KNowing your schedule ahead of time is no fun… :sulks:
Cheese.
School starts tomorrow! And I got my schedual Saturday.
I got a 28 out of 30 in my first AP U.S. History quiz, which is odd, because I didn’t write nearly as much as some other people. Quality over quantity, I guess. Mine was concise and to the point.
Awesome, Grant! Cool!
I started school on the 29th of August. About the September issue-my mother is a food stylist. Did you know that there are entire businesses run around food styling? Not just studios, but people who can get flats of strawberries delivered to you, in say, December. When I was little, Mom would take most of my Halloween candy and keep it for styling. It’s VERY bizarre. But fun!
I just got very angry at marching band practice. We were going back to the beginning of a drill, and I, being the hard-working and efficient entity that I am, scurried back to my starting position. There then arrived a series of people with large instruments, i.e. the drums and tubas. Some of the tubas came up in front of me and informed me I was in the way. When I told them I was in my correct spot, one rammed me with the bell of his instrument until I moved. This despite the fact that there were very wide alleys on either side of me, on one side about 50 feet. I became angered beyond reason, but now I’m beginning to cool off.
You should tell that obnoxious tiuba kid that you have some really tough friends who will beat you up. Me, in other words. Even though, I’m like, probably a foot shorter than him, I’m a purple belt in karate. Hi-ya!
-Pheebs
Thenks for your support. The Chairman is pleased by your prompt defending of a fellow Muser.
Phoenix (from way back) – the picture on the main page under “September Free-for-All”.
Today, I spent the day having people tell me that, even though they said they could, no, they were really too busy to do an ensemble (quartet) this year, finding out that no one knows who a good cellist who would be willing to be in a quartet with two freshmen and a violist (sophmore) is, also finding out that I’m making a 99 instead of a 100 in orchestra for no reason that I can see (it’s not MY fault that my stand partner always talks), and deciding that my introduction to my english essay was horrible and taking the entire thing out. I also think I need to change my thesis statement.
Oy gevalt.
sorry i haven’t posted for forever
Homework is evil…….
I got an F on my science quiz.
Oi vey
i finished Eldest and i think it was great, no matter what Phoenix says.
I didn’t read Eldest. Plus I’m not critisizing the literature quality of the books, just the fact that they’re COPIES. How come suddenly everyone knows Yiddush/Hebrew? I thought ChinTsu was the only Semite. Oh, wait, I don’t know if ChinTsu really IS a Semite…
Actually it’s Shemite, b/c it means ‘Son of Shem’ on of the three sons of Noa (which is actually ‘Noach’ with a soft ‘ch’ that people in America don’t know how to say. Grr. I hate when I’m talking and people will think I’m coughing or throwing up.)
I have’nt gotten a bad grade yet… or any grade. I’ve only been in school for three days. And I have to memorize the periodic tables! Ahh!
Never fear, Elentari is here!
And with that hugely egoistic statement, here we go…
I started school on the 31st. I had a good three days of the first week, except that I’m on cross-country and we have to run in the hottest part of the day (ug. Southern California in September).
But then I had four tests this last week, and a x-country meet on Friday. We got second place out of the meet, beaten by ONE SECOND! Then I spent twenty minutes that night trying to force my earrings back into the semi-closed-up holes…it hurt more than when I got them pierced. Ick.
Thus ends the rant of Elentari.
Oh ya, almost forgot. I think that we need an updated Paul Baker thread, like how we updated the general blog one to September Free-For-All. All in favor go to New England and say Aye…and all not in favor go to the South Pole and say Nay very very quietly
I’m Jewish on my mom’s side, although it’s mostly culturally Jewish- religiously my family is more atheistic/agnostic. I speak a little Yiddish, but I’d like to learn more. Nu?
I don’t speak Yiddish, but my mom used to. I speak Hebrew pretty much almost fluently. But my dad speaks it better.
Oh, yeah: and a Semite is not nessesarily a Jew. It can be someone from Araby or Egypt or whatever.
Yeah I know that. But the Term Anti-Semite usually means anti-jewish.weird
I don’t speak yiddish; I can read Hebrew, but don’t know the language very well, which I’d like to.
It’s Arabia Phoenix.
My mom says I can fast on Yom-Kippur. Sort of.
Araby means all the Arabic countries together, or ancient Arabia, or (in my case) a fun thing to say. I fast on Yom-Kippur, have since I was ten, although not the whole thing ’till I was bat-mitzvad. In fact, I fast on all the fast days, which is pretty obvious because I’m Orthodox. BUT I AM A NORMAL PERSON! I AM NOT A SEPERATE SPECIES OF HUMAN! THANK YOU FOR LISTENING. Sorry for writing in capital letters, I just wanted to make a point.
Oh and by the way, did you know that a lobster’s closest relative is a cockroach? Just thought you might want to know.
When I was 14, James Joyce’s short story “Araby” (in his collection Dubliners) was my favorite story in the world. It has nothing to do with Arabia, though.
–R. C.
Always wanted to learn yiddish… great for insults.
Your Orthodox? I’m reconstructionist, not to be confuse with reform. My mom won’t let me fast because she says I burn calories too fast and might faint. I think i could do it.
Yiddish is good for insults? I had no idea……
hmm. can we have a yiddish insult as an example?
i need some ideas.
reference to post 24(a little late)
niether have i…
Welcome, Blackwings!
–R. C.
Yes, I’m Orthodox. It isn’t that hard, actually. Tell your mom that no one I ever knew has ever fainted. Plus if you get hungry-like, REALLY hungry-you can eat and drink enough to tide you over.
Hey, it’s me. Lately I’ve been busy with the following (please note that all or part of this list may be completely made up): drawing skin for Bio II, writing a three-page autobiography for English, Seussical, geometry homework, watching Stargate, losing at Minesweeper, singing songs from Hairspray in the shower, re-reading Coraline, GETTING SWITCHFOOT’S NEW CD, eating, breathing, sleeping, finding a book for my book report (I finally chose a biography on William Tyndale), saving the world from alien llamas, wrestling crocodiles, tipping cows, defying gravity, planting dasies on the Moon, etc.
German lesson for the day:
Umbringen: to bring under/to kill
Quote of the day:
“‘these are yuppie words, happiness and unhappiness.”
—Bob Dylan
More later…
I don’t think mom will let me anyway.
welcome Blackwings!
Tell us more about you.
Yeah! Everybody at the Museblog has something to contribute! Even me! So how’s everyone? Getting ready for Talk Like a Pirate Day? I’ve been telling everyone about it!
Hmph. I never got a welcome. *cries*
a few wierd things just happened. One is that I had a dream where ChinTsu knew one of my friends, and went to her house.
Another is that one of my friends just announced that she was a tai-kwon-do blackbelt, and became the youngest blackbelt in the U.S. at age six. Really. I had no idea. And a bully got me today. He was really mean.
Hey, Mr. Coontz, how can I have some of my stuff on here? I could provide some How-to’s to entertain people! As long as everyone promises not to steal them. Well anyway, welcome to the Museblog , Phoenix, and I’m sorry to hear about the bully. I never got a welcome either, not even when it was the old Gaboomba, but I don’t mind. I’m used to being ignored. People I know keep telling me I sneak up on them, but I just walk right up when they aren’t paying attention. And that is NOT sneaking, whatever certain unobservant people might say.
Hi, people, I heven’t been on in a while. Lotsa homework, Daily Show watching to do. THey have a new special on Evolution, called Evolution-Shemovlution. I kid you not.
In any case, I’ve been making a Harry Potter Role Play site. I’d appreciate it if you signed up. Remember to post your character application first. (Hint: Click the subject that says, “Character Application.”)
Go to: hmstrdumbledore.proboards57.com
Phoenix – A BULLY?! I despise bullies! Tell ‘im you you have some really tough friends…(Me again!)… and tell him to kiss your…um…never mind.
Phoenix (76) and Grant (77),
I could tell you didn’t need much encouragement. Others might need more.
Grant, I’ll be happy to post some How-tos. Just send them to webmaster@musefanpage.com. If that doesn’t work (for some reason it didn’t when Phoenix tried it), we’ll figure out another way.
–R. C.
Heehee I take Aikido but i’m a LONG way from a black belt.
What did I look like in your dream?
I didn’t get welcomed either, so don’t feel bad.
Ok! How-to’s sent! I have sent 2 in my email, numbers 52 and 16, I think, which are “How to lose ten pounds of ugly fat” and “How to get a few chuckles at your stupidity.”
Oh, lots of people take martial arts. Cool. Me too.
But it’s really annoying because peopel ask me what my extracurricular activities are, and I say Karate. Than they say, like this? And imitate Jackie Chan. But that’s not actually what you do. It’s barely like that at all.
I don’t remember-all I could see was my friend and your faint outline sitting at her table. wierd!
There was a “what religion are we” discussion a while ago. I am catholic though I don’t believe exactly what the church belives. I hate it when people dislike agnostics or atheists. I think that everyone has the right to believe what they like, in as many or no gods as they like as long as the don’t belive in something bad like killing other people or something. Personally, my idea of God is a spirit surrounding everything and supporting everything. Like a spirit of life kind of thing.
…the post I just posted was rather deep wasn’t it? About Judaism and me, I belong to my local JCC (Jewish Community Center) and I know somethings about Judaism from that and also the friend who I mentioned earlier who moved is Jewish.
I have been busy with cross country and I will soon begin rehersals Fiddler on the Roof at the JCC mentioned earlier. I am also auditioning for my school play, Cyrano DeBergiac (sp?)
hello
Well, I guess we each think our beliefs are right. I know I do, but ditto– as long as someone is a good person thier okay.
Remember to go to hmstrdumbledore.proboards57.com and be cool! I’ve been nagging everyone I know about his, but only one person has made a character. It’s very dissapointing, because they’ll all make excuses like “It didn’t work,” or “I was too busy,” or something like that. Please, please, please! Hogwarts is no fun without more people!
I’m not allowed to use MUDs. Sorry.
Pheebs I tried and I’m waiting
Ooh, I love RPGs! I’m on all these Warriors ones…Nevermind.
I hope evryone remembers today is Kakashi’s birthday. Yes, I am annoyingly obsessed. ^ – ^
I agree though, as long as your a good person, your religion shouldn’t matter so much.
kc, hello! Another lurker comes into the fold. What’s on your mind?
It didn’t work. I’m telling the truth! It kept saying me activation code was invalide.
Grittings to all you new Musers out zere. Zat is to say, enjoy ze Museblog. It is quite an interesting place. Did my how-to’s come?
Grant,
No how-tos have reached me so far, I’m afraid. Are you sure you sent them to webmaster@musefanpage.com? Maybe you should try gaboomba@musefanpage.com instead. It’s still active and has never lost a message, as far as I know.
–Robert
Has anyone else ever noticed how extremly hipnotizing hot pink bunnies are? i hypnotized myself for strange reasons uknown with the bunnies on the first page of teh article on ’em.
I discovered the problem. I had accidentally put it down as “webmaster@museblog.com.” Probably because I wasn’t paying attention. I have sent the how-to’s again.
Busy week, but we had a pep rally today so we got to either go to it or go home early! Guess which I did.
I went home early, in case you were wondering.
Anyway, on Tuesday, I had a dream that Phoebe had e-mailed me a message that was full of computer viruses. And then it was sort of like a computer game, so to get the viruses to go away, you had to click on them or shoot things at them or something.
I have violent dreams.
I have pretty freaky dreams, too. Fairly recently I had a dream where the school had to get rid of the buses because of the gas prices and they sent a large pickup truck along each route. It didn’t stop, so you had to run and jump on the back. Pretty weird. I think there should be a dream section.
I’d never do that!
Ah, Chintsu, you’re supposed to click “Applying for A Charcter” not “Character Application.” Sorry.
haha, they use araby in The Princess Bride, too. teehee!
If you like RPG so much, Axa, go to my site and be a Hogwarts student! You click on “Character Applcations” than “Applying fot a character” and the URL is hmstrdumbledore.proboards57.com, for the third time!
Oh boys! My how-to’s shall be posted soon! I am so excited. See, this is the first time fragments of my book have been displayed to its target audience! I’ve had the usual people read it, friends, family, etc. etc. Now I will find out what you people think! Goodie goodie. Gaaaaaah! Must have feedback! More how-to’s to come! Got at least 60 right now! Going to publish it! Phoenix must novelize story! Go to Homecoming tomorrow, or technically today! Talk like a pirate on Monday! So many things to do! Brain overloading! Water! Need water!!!! Need feedback! Aaaaaaaaa!
OK it worked. I still am confused though.
hellooo does anybody place comments here any more?
:flails hand around: I do! Are we going to have an October Free For All? It should be the October Discounted Clearance Sale.
yes
Yep. I do, sometimes, and originally my story was supposed to end up here. I wish I was allowed to MUD! *cries*. my dad says I can do do it in college. And Grant, thanks very much for the support my story is no WAY good enough to publish.
I went to the movie Madacasgar today. Again. I pointed out the absency of tenrecs, and my dad said he knew it would be pretty inacurate because the lemurs spoke english. I think the lemurs should speack swahili. And now i can’t stop quoting “There just a bunch of Pansies!”. grrrrrrrr…….
Transplanted from the “Dragonseye 2†thread. ChinTsu wrote:
Here’s a little fragment of a novel i will write.
Someday…….
Robert’s comment:
It’s a good start. Who are Mattu and Kasha? Is there a father/husband in the picture? What is Keppan? Is the great fissure like the Grand Canyon?
Good fragment!
Hey everyone? I really would like more feedbakc than what’s there. I need to know how you like my material and if I need to change anything. Personal favor to me?
Grant,
Are you sure you’ve got the right thread?
Kasha is Mattu’s sister. His father’s name is Arda, who has long black hair and golden eyes, is a firemage, and is friends with a red dragon named Sheira. Mattu is very short, with hair died blue and braided at the back. He has a generally cute and perky personality, and is terrifed of his mom.
Keppan is a country covered with jungles on the east. It contains a range of giant mts, sort of like the andies wich i will give a name to as soon as i get an arabic dictionary. After the mountains, it gives way into Adivaria, which resembles egypt.
I’d tell u more, but that would ruin the story.
cool! send it here! go! now!
I don’t have much time to write — I’ve gotta pack for a retreat & write a letterto a nearby college about a woodchuck & hopefully make it to church tonight — but I just have to tell you guys about this short story. It’s called “The Yellow Wallpaper.” It’s pretty much the most messed-up thing I’ve ever read, but pretty much everyone in my class (myself included) LOVED it. Go to:
http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/etcbin/toccer-new2?id=GilYell.sgm&images=images/modeng&data=/texts/english/modeng/parsed&tag=public&part=1&division=div1
to read it.
—D_q
Whoa. Major creepy. Now, is that woman crazy, or is somthing really going on with the wallpaper? I think half and half. Maybe looking at the wallpaper MADE her crazy? We could have a great discussion about this…
Anyway, I think one of the scariest stories I’ve ever read was in a book called “Quicksilver and Shadow”, about how this guy wakes up and his wife is gone, and no one remembers her except him.
I’ll give everyone a chance to read it before I post my views…
Oh, Dave of the JUNGLE: sorry I keep asking you dumb stuff. I just realized that it was really insensitive of me. I’l stop, now.
Everyone: I am sad now so I am going to rant. You don’t have to nessesarily listen, just nod sypathetically at intervals. Ok, here goes:
–Phoenix, who wishes she could be in real life what she is in her head.
Today the bully thaat keeps getting me got me again. I have been trying to work up the courage (and overcome the fear of detention) to give him what he deserves. So I belted him one– admitedly not in a place where it would really hurt (I studied those places– self-defence, ya’know) but still, it felt good. And just as I did it… the principal walked in. As Zyviva would sy (and did, she was there) “location, location, location.” Even so, I didn’t get in trouble. She just smiled at me. That felt good. But still, I don’t know why he is so mean to me! I never did ANYthing to him (untill then, that is.)
Pheonix you should probably tell a teacher if this bully continues to bother you. Good luck and I hope he stops bothering you.
who sends what? Where?
The scaryest story i ever read was probably a Ray Bradbury story called Needlework. I mean i was seriosly freaked out. It’s in his Short Stories One collectiotehn.
Nice idea Phoenix. There are plenty of people i know that deserve a punch in the face, but i’m such a goody-good. n_n
Oy, my dad was supposed to come back today from Vienna (he was at a conference) but his flight got cancled, so now he’s stuck in Newark.
Good news is that we won’t have school tomorrow because of Rita.. and now it’s supposed to go east of us, so I guess that’s good..
We’re fairly far inland, though, so it probably won’t be that bad..
ChinTsu, I was talking about a story in a link posted by D_Q (#117) called the yellow wallpaper.
I wish something interesting would happen here. We get almost no snow days, even though we’re right in the lake effect snow area. Kenston (my school) is really annoying about snow days. Once there was a “snow” day due to how cold it was, but the next day it was even colder and they had school. No natural disasters happen around here. Heck, no disasters happen, period. Not that that’s a bad thing, it’s just so boring! I get excited when I get a video game!
They finally got Midnight at our library. yay. *does happy dance*
But I can’t read it till late sunday, cause my mom can’t pick it up till Saturday.*pouts* evil kalopa seminar evil evil EVIL
*notices strange looks*
yeah hehe n_n *runs away*
(i was kidding about the seminar. I chose 2 go 2 it on Sat and Sun. I’m just upset.)
I’ve been reading Tale of the Otori 1:Across the Nightingale Floor
It’s based in a fantasy world similar to fuedal japan. It’s very good. i read it whenever i had free time at school.
I think we need some new threads.
Yeah. I just started reading Eldest last night; I’m on page 250 or summat. It is not as blasphemous as Eragon, because all the copies of the Belgariad have been done in the first book. It just copies LOTR, but that’s ok b/c LOTR is THE fantasy standard, just like Shakespeare is THE playwrite and chess is THE game. Every fantasy book in the world copies it.
Oh yeah, the reason museblog is slacking off sorta is b/c there are no new threads, like ChinTsu said. The reason it is slacking off is b/c we are all busy with school. Oh, well.
One more: I have a new insigna! At first I was gonna use the DRAGONEYE medal as my new symbol (my old one, the Sword, Staff, and Stars, was outdated, and I don’t use my royal seal anywhere except on official MAP documents and treaties), or design one for my many nicknames and adopt that name as a new identity (Phoenix used to be a secondary penname) but then I found Museblog and became Phoenix. So I decided to make a seal for myself using that name.
If you don’t understand this post, I must explain that, for me, each name is a differant side of me. Steel, as you know, is a person specifically made to adopt ONE of my traits (I act a lot like her around strangers). And so on. I have so many because remember how in the J.K. Rowling thing, I said you couldn’t judge people? It’s why I have so many. The most important ones become book charecters. So anyway, now I use the Phoenix symbol as a signature (among friends, of course, not on, say, homework). My friend Stephonia (penname) has a symbol, and so does Tialia (penname) and I think Zyviva does (do you, Zyvvie?) but I’m really the only one in our group who uses it. Entertainment, self identification, hidden feelings, and all that rot. Anyway, bottom line is that it’s fun. Bye now. Sorry about the rant; its a habit.
Maybe the reason the blog is quiet is that Robert is on vacation. He’s good at starting new threads.
I don’t even know how to do it! I’ll see if I can figure it out.
In the meantime, though, if I WERE to start a new thread, what do you guys want to talk about?
I actually don’t mind it being quiet- it’s a bit overwhelming when I get back from a week at school during which I have had no free time (literally- practice and homework and school take up all my time) and find about thirty new posts, several new threads, etc, that I haven’t read.
Not, mind you, that that’s a bad thing..
I have a seal 2. I think. It’s some sort of beatle in a circle.
Seals? As in Seals as in wax? I have a seal. It’s fleur de lis. Hey, do people here have any family crests? My mom’s side is a cricket, but my dad’s is an elephant… rather odd, eh?
the corpse bride how ’bout a BOOKS AND MOVIES topic!!!!!
ChinTsu!!! I have read the first two Otori books!! I should read the third as it is at my house right now.
I saw the Corpse Bride tonight!
My mom’s family’s got a crest, but I don’t remember what it looks like. I want to see “The Brothers Grimm.” Who else does? Good book: Beowulf.
I just figured out how to write in green. Hail me! Tell me if any of you figures out how to write in red.
nooo! it didn’t work!
ok. now it did. cancel alert.
ok. now it did. cancel alert. Never mind.
Pheebs, pleasepleasePLEASE tell me you don’t need e-mail for your sight, or else there is NO WAY my dad will let me join. Also, I don’t lie, so I can’t go one in secret. I have a charecter and EVERYthing. I wen’t there; it looks SO cool.
that’s strange; your green writing, Phoenix, is a link.
well, yesterday we got a lot of wind but no rain, which kind of stinks because we need rain, but at least everything is all right and our tomatos are fine and I figured out how to play “greensleeves” on the fife. My embroucher [sic] needs work, though, and I am purely a string player and therefore have no idea how to make the second octave work, how to get through something without running out of breath, etc..
But I’m very good at spiccato..
okay, moderately good..
okay, I can control it most of the time..
and my tone, intonation, vibrato, etc is coming along nicely due to the many
forms of parent-tortureetudes my teacher gives me..never mind, Pheebs. I asked my dad, and he immediately said no, and started lecturing me about how priveleged I was already and how you could be some dangerous raving lunatic who would kill me and you could have a thingy installed on your site that would trace me if I sent a message. He told me he wasn’t happy about my being on Museblog, either. He is a computer programmer so he is always worrying about stalkers and viruses. I wish I was like you guys. Must be nice to be able to play a game on the Internet sometimes. While I’m fantasizing, world peace would be great.
Hey, Pheebs, I registered on that site. Hope to make it in. And
Phoenix, why don’t you register for like Yahoo mail or something?
Hey, I play the fife too!
you probably play it better than me
OK, i went on without my parents permission and i’ve decided 2 quit because it makes me feel guilty. They wouldn’t like it, but Museblog is ok.
I was wrong about Midnight. I brought it 2 the seminar and stayed up till 10 finishing it. I’m more than halfway thru moonrise now heehee
Probably. I’m in a fife and drum corps.
Hi guys. I got permission to go on her one last time. To answer Grant, some fake MUDs have a tracer thingie, that, if you type ANYthing, it can see whaere you are. I just want you to know, Pheebs/Grant, I’m a lurker– I follow conversations here and on Pheeb’s site. By the way, Grant, you shouldn’t flirt virtually so much. I just wanted you to know, look out for me, and I’ll be watching you!
(I mean, of course, that I follow conversations, nothing ominous.)
All,
I’m back on the blog, though still officially on vacation for the rest of the week. (Rosanne–you’ll carry on moderating, won’t you?)
Farewell, Phoenix, and thanks for your all-too-brief but much valued contributions to MuseBlog. As the poet Edward Arlington Robinson said, “meteors are not needed less than mountains.” Belain na le!
–Robert
Robert, I’m happy to moderate until your vacation is over.
How was your trip?
Fantastic! I’ll tell you all about it after I recover.
You need e-mail to sign up… but you can choose to have it hidden so that no one can see it on the site.
hey everyone, it’s my brother’s b-day just so you all know. He’s like sort of a half-muser. Mainly because I steal them all and keep them away from him so he doesn’t read much of it. I’m really mean like that, but he’s already lost my lotr issue *cries* i’m ok, i’m ok. I’m going to get it off the back issues.
what’s this website I hear about??? I looked back up the comments, but didn’t see it. Oh yah and this site is seriously giving me intense longings for my oct. issue…I need it now…now..now…oh mail’s here! nope never mind it’s still sept. argh…wait wrong thread. Eat your weetabix peoples! OOH!! weetabix article????!!! yah i know strange request. An article on british cereal. ok ok i’m just insanely obssessed w/ weetabix even though it tastes disgusting.
hey! has anyone read the book Mostly Harmless?? It’s soooooo good!!! If you haven’t, read the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy first. Douglas Adams rocks!!! (random thought- they happen a lot w/ me)
by the way, i need my oct. issue too!!!!!!!!!! please please pleeeaaaaase may i get it soon!!!?
‘nother random note, you people make me feel normal for the first time.
Hello, Bookworm! I have read Mostly Harmless! The people here are fans, not the magazine people themselves, and you are way normaler than anyone else here, ’cause most of us are freaks. At least, I am.
What?! Phoenix is leaving?! Why?!
You also probably play fife better than me, Grant. All I can play is Yankee Doodle.
Bye, Phoenix. This is my fault, I shouldn’t have told you to go on my site.
Yeah, and Grant, as you may have noticed, you passed the test with flying colours. Yay!
Goodbye Sept. free-for-all! It is hard to type whilst holding a carrot!
I’m a freak too
Can we call next month’s free-for-all “Life, the Universe, and Everything”?
Pheebs (158-159),
Phoenix thought she was leaving forever, but she’s back.
