Purple Panda Cat’s Eye is looking for an opponent for a game of online chess.
bookworm wants to play Capablanca-style chess. (That’s the version with two extra pieces, described a couple of dozen threads below.)
Anyone up for either of them?

I’m interested in playing chess, but I’m not quite sure about Capablanca-style, yet. I’d have to think on that a moment…
Hold on — I was confused. Purple Panda wants to play normal chess. It’s bookworm who wants to play Capablanca-style chess.
Great–I’d certainly be interested in playing normal chess!
HAWK, do you have an account? I don’t see you on the list.
No, I don’t have an account yet. Do you set up the account, or do I do something?
It’s the same procedure as registering for the New MuseBlog Experiment. You’ll find instructions there.
Thank you! I’ve signed up. Now it asks for confirmation by an administrator.
Cat’s Eye: HAWK arrived first, so I’ll pair him with Purple Panda and find another partner for you. Or, if Pan has changed her mind, you and HAWK may play. Acceptable?
Of course.
I’m up for normal-style chess.
I’ll play you. But I’m not very good.
Kaiser
I’m up for normal or Capablanca.
I just signed up for an account. I’d prefer normal chess, as I don’t know what capablanca is.

You can go to one of the old chess threads and find out.
Capablanca chess is explained here, and you can see a (finished) game here.
Thank you, loreena.
Er, GAPAs? when i signed up for my chess account I accidentally put in the user name “Whosoever” which is what it is on most sites. I tried to register again, but it wouldn’t let me because I had used my E-mail the first time. Solutions?
I’ve deleted the “Whosoever” account. Try again.
thank you very much.
Games between very unevenly matched players aren’t much fun. It might be helpful if you all gave some idea of how strong you are when applying for games here — say, A, B, or C, with A meaning “very strong,” B meaning “not wonderful, not awful,” and C meaning “know the moves but don’t claim much beyond that.”
Known “A” players include bookgirl_me and Purple Panda. “C” players would be anybody who starts a game with an a or h pawn. Most MBers are Bs, I suspect.
I’d probably be a C+. Somewhere in between B and C.
I’m a B.
What am I, judging from my game?
It’s hard to say, but I’d match you against A players.
I’m probably a c and three quarters, or something like that.
Does that mean B-minus, or C-minus-minus-minus?
b minus. I hope so any way.
I’d be interested in trying a regular game. I’m maybe a C+, almost a B-.
I’m probably an F. I can’t play chess at all, but with the pieces showing you where you can move I would play with someone else that is at my skill level.
I’ll play a game with anyone here…
What’s your skill level?
A B.
Then I couldn’t play with you.
If you don’t mind playing someone below your skill level, I’ll play against you.
Eh-heh… I’m a most definite C-. I know the moves, but other than that…
I’m not a patient person, and I am very impulsive; chess is not my game.
I’ve matched Kaiser with Cat’s Eye and Tesseract with Jakob Wonkychair. Those games are now ready to begin.
It sounds as if Ducky and Daisy*chain could play together, but I wasn’t sure both of them wanted to. Do you?
bookworm is still looking for a partner for Capablanca.
Sure! Regular chess, please. And can I be black?
SFTDP How do you log in?
Daisy*chain, do you want to or not?
I’ll try it.
I’m not a paleo-phyte yet, right?
(19) TFATF: It doesn’t matter for playing chess.
Is bookworm still open for a game of Capablanca? I would be a willing participant.
It can’t hurt to try. I’ll give The Bookworm the first move, to make sure. Your move, Bookworm!
